Long-distance move from Texas to Colorado

Very bad experience with East Coast Moving and Storage.

East Coast Moving and Storage is a rogue company. They gave us a binding estimate then after they loaded all our stuff, now the price is double without even speaking with us first. Now they are holding our stuff hostage and our rep will not return our calls, voicemails, or emails. Also one of the loaders repeatedly asked my sister for a ride home even though there was room on the truck for him. How inappropriate! Consumers beware!

Long-distance move from Florida to Maryland

Don't trust them!

I have moved a lot in my career and this was the WORSE company ever.  I went item by item from an inventory list and got a quote, once they got there 2 days late, they wanted almost double what they quoted me.  Never would answer phones, driver and company lied about where the truck was.  I would bet that the 5 star reviews were written by people who work for the company.  Don't trust them!

Long-distance move from Florida to Arkansas

Creative and capable.

I work for the government and always get moved around in a year or two. This time it was from Tallahassee, FL to Little Rock, AR. I hired East coast moving because they have an impeccable reputation in the market. They gave me a very rational rate for today’s market. I was very impressed seeing their crew arriving with all the proper equipment and their vans were in very good condition. It was the quickest move of my life given how efficiently the men worked. They were like machines packing and loading all my stuff systematically. There was no chaos anywhere. All my stuff was delivered 3 days later as promised and everything was in excellent condition. These movers really know their business and I am very grateful to them.

Long-distance move from Illinois to New York

Horrible, Unprofessional Company.

I know you're probably reading these reviews to decide if you should use East Coast for your move, and I'm here to warn you against it - avoid this company, at all costs. I know the price sounds really great, and they will promise to deliver your items on time, but as someone who has made the mistake of hiring this company, these are empty promises. I needed a company for my daughter's move from the Chicago area to New York City. I originally hired a different company, and I then spoke with Jason, a senior relocation specialist, and he was very adamant that they would deliver on June 1st. He seemed so confident, and was able to convince me to switch to their company, which I would later learn was a huge mistake. I booked them feeling confident that they were true to their word. I received a quote for $1766. Once they came for pick up on May 24th, I had to pay an additional $260 for 80 sq ft of space that I went over. I found this suspicious since I actually ended up shipping LESS items than in the original estimate, but it was too late to back out, so I paid and they were on the way. I spoke again with Jason on May 27th to confirm the June 1st delivery, and he said the truck was on its way to New York. I later found out from the driver, that he didn't even leave the facilities in Illinois until May 29th, so Jason had previously lied to me.Upon my arrival in New York on Monday, June 1st at 10:00 AM (which is when I was told the truck would arrive) I attempted to call Jason to let him know that I was at the drop-off location, awaiting the truck's arrival. He didn't answer, and I was put on hold for 20 minutes, so I finally hung up and tried calling back but couldn't get through to anyone. At this point, I began to panic, because my wife, daughter, her boyfriend and two cats were all relying on their items arriving on time, and it was especially important because of the cats. When I finally got through to someone, I was informed that the truck was still on its way to New York. This completely took me by surprise, as I was told it had left on May 27th. At this point, I was told the truck MAY arrive on Tuesday, but the woman I spoke to "wasn't sure." She said to call back tomorrow. In a panic, as we had cats and an empty apartment, we called around to find the cheapest, pet-friendly area hotel we could find. On Tuesday morning, I called to get an update, and I found out that the truck wouldn't be arriving for at least 1-2 more days. It took multiple phone calls, once again, to get any information from anyone. My wife and I came out specifically to help with the move, and we only had a few more nights to stay out there. At this point, we realized we had been taken advantage of, and we were all completely stressed out and frustrated by the unprofessionalism of this company.Later that same day, I was able to get the truck driver's information. I spoke with John (the driver) and told him my situation and that we absolutely needed the items to be there  on Wednesday. He said it would cost an extra $350 to get an expedited shuttle, and I said that I would pay the $350 if it meant the items would be delivered on Wednesday morning. The next morning when I called to confirm the arrival time, John informed me that they won't have time to do it, and that we'd have to continue waiting until they can get around to our delivery. We didn't end up receiving our items until noon on Friday, June 5th. This is almost a week after the original date we agreed on. Upon arrival, John also ended up charging us an extra $150 for a step-fee, & he also charged us $350 for the expedited shuttle that we didn't even use. Here's a breakdown of charges for my move:Original quote $1766Additional 80 sq.ft $260 Step charge $150 (should have been $140 but John miscalculated)Shuttle charge $350 (never ended up using)Hotel cost $787 Total move cost $2526 ($3,313 with additional hotel cost)A move that should have cost me $1766, ended up costing $3,313, due to the misleading practices of the company and the falsified contract. It's now July 19th, and I have since made several phone calls, and sent several emails and nobody will speak to me, because they don't want to issue a refund. Jason has disappeared completely. I have also filed a case with the BBB, and have still come to no resolution with the company. The last exchange was from East Coast saying that they would be in contact with me, so we could speak with them directly regarding the refund, and of course no one has contacted me. I have done my research & I know my rights through the FMCSA. All in all, I am owed a refund of over $1100, and I will not give up until I've received what is owed to me. This experience was a nightmare for my family and I, and I hope we can warn others to avoid this company at all costs. Please save yourself the headache (and the money) and go with a different moving company!

Long-distance move from Illinois to New York

HORRIBLE company!!

Horrible company. Do NOT use. We requested delivery 5 days after pick-up date. I noticed in the quote that there was a 14-day delivery window clause, but the sales rep assured me that was just a formality and that our furniture would be delivered on our requested date. It is now 9 days after pick-up date, so I called customer service and they told me that "we don't have a truck available to deliver your furniture". How can you not have enough trucks when someone has been waiting over a week for their belongings ? Then I asked when can I expect it to be delivered and the response was "I can't tell you when but by law we have 14 days to deliver". I'm thinking to myself why did that sales rep tell me it could be delivered on my requested date when in reality they deliver whenever they want. This is horrible business principle. Just because your contract allows you 14 days, it doesn't mean it's good customer service to expect your customers a to live without their belongings for 2 weeks. In addition, the move distance is only 800 miles, which can be driven in 12 hours easily. They charged 3000$ for this, and I wouldn't even call this a service- it is a HUGE disservice. Will be reporting this business to higher authorities.

Unhappy, no delivery yet!

Salesman great.  So far I still have no ETA on my things.  Every 2 or 3 days, they tell me 2 or 3 days.. four times now!  Where are their trucks?  Why don't they know where they are?  Why do I get the same story four times now?  I'd like my things delivered please!  They picked up my items at storage in Florida, and I need delivery in Virginia.  Not fun sitting in an empty house.

Long-distance move from Florida to Texas

Great Service.

I never used a moving service before, and they made it easy, quick, and professionally done. They come on time to my location and got right to work. I did not have to tell them to be careful or to watch it. I trusted them with my fraglie items, and they treated my thongs like it was there own things. They where organized and set on how they put all my things in the truck. They did all of this in a great about of time as well. I am happy with service, and if I need to move from texas to florida again, I would call them. The move went well!

Worst movers beware!!

This moving company has got the worst service I ever met.
They say they are not brokers but this is an absolute lie. Never believe in them. They got the worst customer service who never allowed me to communicate with the moving department. They were very unprofessional who did not maintain their timings for pickup and drop off time Infact, they came a day later than the scheduled date for pickup. They did not even have the courtesy to let me know that they aren't coming for pickup.I waited for the whole day thinking they will come. They increased my quote price after they visited my place and charged me extra for the stuffs which was actually given during the quote.

I will never recommend this mover to any one. Worst movers!!
Very Bad experience with this movers. Beware guys!!

Long-distance move from Illinois to Nevada

Great company!

I can't say one bad thing about East Coast Moving & Storage. I hired them to help me with my long distance move and I couldn't have been happier with the service they provided. The movers showed up 25 minutes early and started packing and loading right away. They only sent two guys, but that was fine considering they were efficient and fast! None of my furniture was damaged which obviously is a huge plus! I thought they were extremely professional and respectable. They movers actually seemed happy to be there. They had great attitudes and they were great to be around during this stressful process. I was very satisfied with my choice of movers. They were awesome!

Long-distance move from New Hampshire to Louisiana

Failure to supply movers & contact me.

I only give 1 star because I cannot give 0.

They failed to provide movers and did not contact me to let me know. They were impossible to get on the phone, did not once call back regarding my pending inquiries and were passive aggressive and rude. Up until the move date, I felt confident in the company and agents I had spoken with.

I booked my move 1 month prior to moving and the day of the move, they failed to provide a mover and did not even contact me to inform me. When they failed to provide a mover, I was told it is because their movers DO NOT GO NORTH OF NEW JERSEY and my move was out of New Hampshire.

The week prior to the move, I contacted the company, and after many attempts via the phone and email, I got through with customer serve. I was told that I would get a phone call from dispatch 1-2 days before the move to inform me of the time. The 1st possible day of my move, I had not heard anything and contacted the company again. I was told that I would receive a call between 3-5 PM from dispatch telling me when the movers would arrive- I did not receive a call. On the 2nd potential move day it took 2 hours to get through to somebody on the phone. I finally spoke with someone who said they would follow up with dispatch to find the issue, he did not call me back, and I was unable to get through to him the remainder of the day (the operator would not put me through to him).

Finally, I spoke with customer service who then informed me they could not find any drivers to agree to do the move because I am in New Hampshire and their drivers do not go further north than New Jersey. My origin of move was always New Hampshire, and they agreed to do the move under these pretenses so I told them they needed to find me a driver to complete the move that weekend, they said they would. Dispatch said they would call back at a certain time to update me and they did not. I was responsible for calling back every 2 hours to find an update (each time it took approximately 10 calls to get through to someone).

The last phone call was at 3:30, and I asked what time they closed and was told 5:30. I called back at 4:30 and the office had already been closed. After many final calls, I got though to the dispatch person on call, who said she had 2 potential drivers and she was waiting on a confirmation and that she would call back. She did not call back and I was unable to get through the remainder of the weekend.

Monday, I called & spoke with customer service agent, who said he would find the issue and call me back. He did not. He was passive aggressive and rude on the phone and like all of the other employees, did not put any priority on my issue. I never once received a call or explanation of the issue. I was told I would receive a refund of my deposit, but I have not yet.

Please take this seriously if you are contemplating using this service- they were impossible to get through with, and overbooked so many moves they seemed to just drop ones they did not want to do. It was infuriating, stressful, and left me in a very tough position prior to moving. Lastly, they did not care at all that they failed to provide the service. It was awful.

Long-distance move from North Carolina to New Jersey

East Coast Moving and Storage.

Once the contract was signed and my deposit was received I stopped receiving any kind of customer service or support. They arrived at the move and claimed it was more than what was listed on the contract (it was not). Presented a blank form for the 89 year old home owner to sign. Did not arrive with enough people to move the baby grand piano. Later claimed "we could have gotten them there." Basically a shake down for more money. Fraudulent and unethical. Seems they are under new management. This is an assumed name. The entity name is Eli Transport Inc which has an F rating from the BBB. Strongly advise you not to use this company.

Long-distance move from Pennsylvania to Texas

Beware of this company.

I have over the last 10 years moved 5 times. Long distance moves with minimum of hassle. This move was by far the worst experience I have had.

This is how they scam you. When we talked to the company and gave them a complete list of inventory they quoted a good price. After loading they said we used double the space and said they would charge us double the amount. Keep in mind that we did not add a single thing beyond what was in the inventory and we in fact had to donate a king sized mattress, 4 bicycles, dining chairs and a table to fit our stuff into the small truck that they got. When we questioned them they said the space was just an estimate.
They never return any phone calls once they take your stuff. I made tens of calls where I could not reach anybody to talk and let me know when my stuff would arrive. I was on hold for hours sometimes and I suspect this was being done deliberately.
Verbally I was told that I would get everything in 3-5 days although the contract states 14 days maximum. I finally got everything in18 days. For 14 days I could not get an answer as to where my truck was.
The move itself damaged the refrigerator. I was just glad that I got my stuff.
PLEASE do not use this company.

Well I must say at first I was petrified at the idea of trusting strangers with my stuff so I looked at reviews and looked at the licensing of different companies I spoke to Chris at East Coast moving and storage and he was very helpful and took his time answering all of my questions the movers came on time and I must say the wrapping and packing was impeccable I got delivery on time through no surprises and the price was cheap for the work that he did I would hire them again in a second rate movers great servicegood job.

Long-distance move from Pennsylvania to South Carolina

Conned out of $450.

This company reached out to me for my move from PA to SC. I was naive and the quote they gave me was the cheapest so I went with them. I talked with Mark from the company and he assured me that my stuff will be picked up on a Saturday and delivered the next Sunday. He said I had to pay an advance of $450. I paid the advance and the electronic receipt was sent to me via a link. On the day of the move I tried to call Mark. Initially he picked up and kept on saying that they were almost there. I asked them when will the delivery be made if they are yet to pick my stuff up and then they called me a liar and did not give any commitments. At this point I was very skeptical but still did not cancel as I could not afford to waste the $450 deposit. They ultimately never showed up. I tried to check the invoice link at this point and the whole invoice had vanished from the page. Thank God I had taken screenshots of the page. When my father-in-law who is a lawyer called Mark and his boss John, they put the blame on us saying we didn't pick the call up which was a blatant lie. We are planning to sue the company. If anyone has more incidents of this company duping them please email me at satinee.m@gmail.com.

Long-distance move from Houston, TX to Edison, NJ

Traumatic.

These people are criminals, but you have no recourse against them. They threatened to sell all my worldly possessions at auction if I did not agree to pay an additional $2,634, and that's the beginning. When my shipment finally arrived, I was shocked to see how they had crammed everything from ceiling to floor. Almost all my boxes (brand new) were crushed. The piano was wrapped in one of my blankets, which means they had to go through my boxes to even find it. Every single piece of furniture had scratches on it. The burn is that I paid extra for them to wrap everything. RUN AWAY FROM THESE PEOPLE!

Stole my deposit. AVOID AT ALL COST.

CUSTOMER SERVICE SUCKS. It has been 3 weeks and they have not issued a refund for my deposit despite telling me it was in the works since the day I called to cancel. They said it would be no problem to cancel within 3 days of the order, I called the next day to cancel and they said no problem my refund should be there in a couple days. 3 weeks later they still have my $400 deposit and are giving me the run around on the phone and email.

I guess this just means, if you order, make sure you don't cancel cuz you are not getting that deposit back. If you speak to Mark Stone or Paul Turner you are screwed.

A Disgrace to Moving Professionals.

I put down nearly $1,000 as a deposit with this company after speaking with James Long and "Michael". The movers were a "no-show," I never received another telephone call and all of my voicemails and emails went unanswered. I left messages for Long, customer service, claims, sales and dispatch and sent emails to corporate and Long and left messages at their other locations in Illinois and Florida. They are truly a disgrace to the moving industry and exist in people's lives when they are in need of assistance and are willing to pay for it. Disgusting.

Long-distance move from Indianapolis, IN to Tacoma, WA

Did not pick up on date as scheduled.

These guys are super nice to work with when setting up date for pick-up delivery. I had scheduled 6 months in advance for a particular day pick up, thus scheduling my closing date and travel to new location by air around the pick up date. The day before the company was to pick up my items, they call to tell me they are running behind schedule and will not be able to pick up my items until the day after pick up. This has drastically thrown a wrench into my scheduled plan and has made me re-book my flight for an additional cost. East Coast Moving & Storage will not give me discount for the move because of their lack of ability to properly schedule. I do not know what other wrench they will throw in before my move is complete. I am really afraid to find out. I would not recommend using these guys as they are unreliable!

Great adventure.

East Coast Moving and Storage was a surprisingly good choice made by my wife from online reviews.  we were very pleased with them showing up early as we still had some packing left, which they cordially and politely offered to assist us with.  these guys were polite and professional during the entire experience.  upon arrival at our new place, they made quick work of unloading and placement of our entire household contents.  I was very pleased and would encourage anyone to consider them as a step above the rest.  I was pleased to see that there was no breakage or damage as care was taken during the trip and at both ends to ensure safety and care for our stuff.  thanx guys.

Horrible experience.

Don't believe one word that comes out of his mouth. After they got your deposit they would not answer phone calls.  left you to deal with driver who was only following orders.  however, every time I called the driver to find out why they were late, where they were he kept changing his story.  Didn't arrive when they said they would, was a day late which made delivery a day late. When the driver got to the pick up place, he said that I had way more stuff than the estimate was for and wanted $1500 more to move it all.  Mark knew exactly what I had because I went through the inventory list from the move.  They would onlyl take 1/3 of what was on my order form.  the two guys that did all the moving were nice, felt sorry for them.  .
