Bait And Switch Company!!

WARNING!!  BAIT AND SWITCH COMPANY!!  DO NOT USE THIS MOVING COMPANY!!  I recently moved across the country and after having researched and priced out the majors (Mayflower, Allied..) and some of the lesser known companies, I chose ECM, because they had the best price and they seemed to be on the up and up (no complaints with the DOT, A rating with the BBB, and I only found 1 bad review on Yelp).  The sales team will contact you relentlessly until they have your stuff.  They emailed me the contract for my review, calculated detailed estimates, reviewed their DOT standing, etc..  They gave me a dollar estimate and actually told me the move would probably only take a week for the truck to get there..  The movers arrived late, and after packing my entire house in truck, went over the cubic feet calculation, was was almost $1,000 MORE than the estimate (including charging me for tape, plastic wrap, etc..)  I felt like there was nothing I could do - I had to be out of the house, they just spent 2 hours packing my stuff into the truck, and it was too late to find another company.  Then they hurriedly provided me a contract that was DIFFERENT from the estimate contract that had been emailed to me.  This contract stated they were not liable for ANY damaged or lost (stolen) items, and that they had 30 BUSINESS days from the 1st AVAILABLE date of delivery.  Enter the nightmare.. the sales team knows nothing about where your stuff is, they only obtain your money, so you have to start talking to the central dispatch office.  These dbags gave me the run around for WEEKS!!  Oh, your stuff is en route.  Oh, it's in storage in your destination state.  Lies, lies, lies.  I thought they had just taken my money and were going to keep my stuff.  Finally, after 3 weeks, they told me (for the 3rd time), that my stuff was being loaded from the warehouse in ILLINOIS, and would be on its way.  My stuff sat in a warehouse for 3 weeks.  The driver finally arrived nearly A FULL MONTH after pickup, and it's an absolute miracle that everything was here and only a couple glasses were broken.  Every truck had a different company's name on it - Moving On Up Van Lines was one them, but if you really want to see who's behind this - Google Platinum Van Lines, who I discovered is running the show.

We did not conduct this move it is either by a competitor or a disgruntled employee. We find it strange that they identify themselves as Consumer 1
and the overall complaint is very generic sounding. Please disregard this review and look at our overall credentials when making your decision such as our many positive reviews and our A plus accredited rating with the Better Business Bureau that can be found here

Long-distance move from Florida to Indiana

Wow.

I couldn’t stand the last move I had. Just imagine a bunch of fat workers doing a halfass job. That is it. I tried to move myself but that took renting a truck getting a bunch of friends and family to help me involving our date to adjust to everyones schedule… including our own. We tried to look online for a good moving business but I had enough with the bipolar good and bad job that company did. Mymove changed my opinion about certain companies. They worked with my time and worked with every accurate review and a rating for it. This allowed me to have these companies adjust to the distance cost and weight of my move some things I have never thought before. Including tips for me. These quotes had helped me move place to place to where hopefully sometime soon this app will move me into my permanent home. Including from state to state moving.

Long-distance move from Michigan to Texas

Horrible Experience.

After scheduling my move with East Coast movers for the morning of 1/12 with Carlos, I was disheartened when the company did not arrive.  After several phone calls, I was finally advised that the delay was due to a flat tire on the truck and I could expect movers first thing the following day, 1/13.  I was once again disappointed as no movers showed as scheduled, and after several phone calls to Carlos and Gabrielle, movers in an Enterprise truck arrived at 6:00pm.   I should have taken these instances as a sign to make arrangements with another company, however I proceeded.   Upon delivery of my furniture on 1/22/15, I noticed that while the count of boxes was correct, I in fact was in possession of two boxes that belonged to another customer, and short two boxes containing irreplaceable wedding pictures, baby pictures of my only child and other personal items.  Not only am I missing boxes, the boxes that did arrive (which had been purchased new for the move) were crushed with gaping holes.  Canned goods rolled through the house with abandon as the movers brought these abused boxes in.  Upon noticing the error that same evening, I contacted the driver who stated he did not have any of my boxes remaining on his truck and he'd contact dispatch regarding the issue.  I contacted this company a total of 37 times between 1/22 and 2/5 left messages and emails for the dispatch "customer service agent" assigned to me - Gabriella and the sales agent Carlos with no return call or acknowledgement of my concern.  On 2/5, Bruce Goodman, a "relocation consultant" contacted me and told me the entire office had been out sick.  While I assured him that I did not believe that his office was unmanned for 14 days, he assured me that if I sent him pictures of the lot numbers on the boxes that did not belong to me, he would begin the process to locate my boxes.  He also assured me he would get back to me the following day which would have been 2/6.  It is now 2/10, and I have received no return calls regarding this matter.  The boxes that are missing contain family pictures and items that can not be replaced. I have explained this in several messages and have yet to be acknowledged. I entrusted this company to deliver my items and am sorely disappointed at the service received.  I want this company to locate my boxes and come to retrieve the boxes that do not belong to me.

Long-distance move from Maryland to California

Don't be fooled!

This is by far the most unprofessional company I have ever worked with! Their communication was awful.  It started with the movers being 3 days late picking up the furniture. We changed the original date for pickup because of rain then it rained again on the actual date and they said that everything would be fine. When we came to pay the difference, they asked for $4k more which was insane because we provided a list of every single box and item when they quoted us. They agrees to $2k more. We asked them how long it would take for delivery and they said they would keep us informed. After take the furniture, they went silent. We called every day after 14 days asking where the driver was. They promised they would call us back and never did. Out of nowhere the driver called my father and threatened him saying we had to pay $2.5k more because he was fired and it was our fault.   I finally was going to hire a lawyer when they got scared and told us they would deliver everything in 2 days.  The driver showed up at 7:30 pm and forgot his tools so they didn't assemble anything. 90% of our furniture was damaged. They moved everything in rain which caused they blue blankets they used to bleed on our furniture. Everything was scuffed. We had suitcases that were drenched in water and are still wet cause everything in them (purses, clothes, shoes) to be all damaged.  I called the company and they said someone will call us back.  Shocker, but no one has. We have furniture, boxes and a bike missing. So many of our crystal vases, plates, glasses were broken. We have other people's boxes that we called to inform the company and they have not responded.  I had my grandmother's and uncle's who passed away stuff damaged from the water which is irreplaceable.  I am so beyond mad and all they keep saying is please file a claim with an outside company.  This was the most unprofessional company I have ever dealt with. Don't make the mistake we did. Choose another company! I wish I could post all the pictures of everything that was damaged!

Long-distance move from Indiana to Texas

Horrible Experience!

When I signed my lease at my apartment in Austin, in late October I began doing internet searches and received many emails and phone calls from moving companies. East Coast Moving and Storage was one that seemed legitimate-especially after looking into the Better Business Bureau with an A+ rating! This company had even talked me out of being “scammed” by another company I was looking into. How very thoughtful of them! Their website states they are not brokers and everything from start to finish is done within their company. While I do take blame for not looking into them more, I sadly trusted BBB. They will also be receiving a letter from me and the others who’ve been wronged by this company.
I spoke with my first contact James Long, who seemed very professional and forthcoming. He made everything seem easy and cut and dried. I booked with them and allowed this company to withdraw the initial deposit from my bank account and was deposited to their account on Nov 2nd. To a company named Elite Relo Service Inc. into a JP Morgan Bank. The contract was made on 10/20/2017. Also, the electronic payment was supposed to be 480.00 not 570.00. I hadn’t noticed it until recently when I was trying to compile this complaint.
The first quote I got from them was only 1498.20 for 300cu. When I realized it wasn’t enough space, I updated my inventory. When I did this, I worked with Mark. He sent me a new contract. The cost went up to 3469.78 for 706cu.
The pickup date was on November 6th. The white truck with M.A.D. LLC had come and loaded my belongings Although the guys were very nice and treated my things respectfully, the driver swindled more money out of me saying they needed more cu. feet to fit the rest of my things. (note that I sent them an itemized list of what I was moving and got a new binding contract from East Coast Moving and storage on November 2nd) That was after they had more than half loaded. I paid with check #1113 for another 922.61. The supposed delivery date was November 10th. I did get a call back on the 10th after I had called. I wanted to make sure they weren’t waiting for me, as I had to drive down there. I was told it may take a couple of weeks at the most. I left a couple of days later to make sure I was there when they were.
After that time frame came and went- with no contact from the company, I called several more times. Most of the time speaking to an answering machine or the receptionist stating someone would call me back and update me still no call backs.
I had to go to Maryland for family business on the 17th for a few days and was stressed about it coming when I wasn’t home. I told them the dates when I would be out of town . I had called them when I was there to make sure they got the message because this company has not had good communication with me after I gave them the money. When I called from Maryland, the guy I spoke to (Anthony) said it was being delivered “now” I told him I wasn’t in Texas and wouldn’t be for a few more days!
I was becoming really frustrated at this point. All I wanted was the truth. I was polite in my conversations and was trying to work with them and gave them every opportunity to communicate with me. I was even hung up on! (Kyle) On November 19th I was told the driver was on his way by one of the
dispatch people-either Mark or Kyle. Still no show or contact from company. On December 4th, I actually got two call backs from two different people that day. First was Jeremy-supposedly a dispatch guy-, although I was promised to get a call from the owner “Shaun”
. He never called –and when I called him I immediately received a text stating he couldn’t talk. Never got a text or call back from him, even though I had left a message and texts. I again called office, by now I am calling sales office because they aren’t answering the dispatch number. I speak to Mark and he’s now supposedly getting upset with the company saying he’s taking this “personally” and will ask the owner “Shaun” what’s up with my things. He says not to worry they are in a climate controlled storage in Indiana and will be arriving between December 12th and the 14th. Still no show.
I have had only 5 call backs from this company since November 6th. Each time a different story. I had a lawyer’s office call them and ask when things will be arriving and Kyle states not to worry…they are in climate controlled storage and will be arriving by December 23rd. Still no show and no call back when I inquired what happened this time. It is now 7 weeks later than originally stated. Way to long for a person to live on with only what can fit into a two door Wrangler.
The company advertises they are NOT a broker, then how come you can’t keep in contact with your drivers? I feel they are fraud, asking for more money than was in “Binding” contract after things were loaded, the lack of communication and terrible customer service just baffles me.
I don’t understand how the better business bureau can give them an A+ rating?! Even their website has many many terrible reviews on it! I am so sorry I believed the Bbb. I wished I would’ve moved myself or sold everything and bought new.

Long-distance move from North Carolina to Arkansas

Beware!

This should have been a story of one of countless moves that happen without a hitch. Our experiences with East Coast Moving and Storage, aka Moving on Up Van Lines (US DOT No. 2166539, ICC/MC No. 757778), however, is an altogether different story. My husband and I were moving from North Carolina to Arkansas, and after we were told by many people to do our research and heed various governmental warnings regarding moving companies, we found East Coast Moving. They had positive reviews, they had checks in all the right boxes, and a friendly sales representative that answered every pointed question we could ask. We paid our deposit and scheduled our move. As time got closer and we were astounded by the impossible amounts of stuff that we owned, we called East Coast Moving and Storage to update our quote. This proved to be a near impossible task for East Coast Moving and Storage to accomplish, and after 5 days, they were able to update the quote. Later we would discover that our friendly sales representative had been fired. While they didn’t disclose details as to why, we can speculate that it was because he was a liar. He lied and said East Coast Moving and Storage wasn’t a broker and that all of their movers would show up in East Coast Moving and Storage trucks. He lied and said that we’d pay no fees for stairs. He lied and said our things would be delivered within 2 weeks. He lied and said the people who picked up our things would have a final delivery date. He lied and gave a guarantee as to a maximum of how long our move would take. The day of our pickup arrived and left. The second day of our pickup arrived and left. Late the second night of our pickup with no contact with anyone, the movers called and said they would be there at 6 AM in the morning the following day. At 7:30AM the following day (May 20th, 2015) the move began with the grade school excuse of oversleeping. The contractors, when asked about a delivery date, said they didn’t have one (Remember the helpful, honest sales rep?) and suggested that we call East Coast Moving and Storage for that information as the contractors were sick of dealing with East Coast Moving and Storage themselves and would likely stop contracting with them altogether. Fast forward to August 4th, 2015, a Penske truck arrives with a set of contractors to unload our things. I doubt that in my life I will ever see Rubbermaid plastic totes ripped down the sides again. I also doubt that I’ll ever hear from anyone else that the word, “Fragile,” really doesn’t mean anything. Finally, I doubt we’ll ever see the missing shelves from our move, or see the clothes and wall mount mistakenly given to us returned to their actual owners. Let’s end our little story with some numbers. It took 76 days to complete the move. East Coast Moving and Storage arrived at exactly 0 of their scheduled dates and times, including alternates. We called East Coast Moving and Storage begging for any information on the location of our things or a delivery date 26 times. They returned our calls exactly 0 of those times. We lost 1 shelving unit, 6 plates, and 8 antiques from my grandmother (they arrived as shards of glass). There was a discount of around $600 given. There is no question in our minds that we would never use East Coast Moving and Storage again. As of writing this, the only excuse that has been given is that Arkansas is out of their geographic region (this was not mentioned when we booked). I don’t really have a particular response to this, as they advertise as a national mover, and while Arkansas isn’t the most glorified state it hasn’t yet successfully seceded from the US. I suppose this would be like going to a steakhouse, ordering a steak, and getting chicken because they aren’t used to cooking steaks.

Local move from Hollywood, FL to Memphis, FL

Fruads.

This is not a legit company. I have filled a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. I have not received a response back yet but so far I have lost $568 from my deposit.

1) I received a quote from them and even paid a deposit, however, no one showed up on the day we agreed upon. I called and spoke with them about this, I was told someone was on their way and still no one showed up. After that they would not answer the phone. I have been calling for two days now and still no call back. I called from different numbers and will get a hold of someone but as soon as they found out it was me they would hang up and not answer when I called back from that number again. I have called from 5 different phone numbers all with the same result.

2) After I received, signed and paid a deposit on a quote someone from their "sister" company called to tell me if I didn't want to leave some of my stuff behind I would need more space and it would be an additional $1000. I would also have to pay more on the deposit. When I told them I would rather buy a new couch than give them the extra $1000 I was told they were going to cancel my move.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

Long-distance move from New Jersey to Florida

Job Well Done.

After finding out my Daughter had found a job in FL I had to find a mover fast, I also wanted someone reliable so I did a online research for local movers. I saw East Coast on a few diffrent websites so I decided to give them a call. I spoke with a young man name Joseph who gave me all the ins and outs and what I should expect for this move. I felt really comfortable talking with him, so I decided to choose them. Everything they said that would happen happened and Some. All the furniture was wrapped in Blanket Wrap , Pad Wrap and Stretch wrap and all glass was crated . The main thing was the price and it was the price quoted over the phone. Thanks Again Joseph and East Coast Team .

Long-distance move from Illinois to Florida

Thank you so much guys.

First off let me start by saying east coast was the best decision I have made in years. This was my first long distance move, and after reading a bunch of horror stories I extensively checked companies backgrounds. My rep Mark made it very easy and educational to weed through lower quotes. I was happy to hear they were actual movers, after reading up on brokers. I went with the full pack service because of last minute move. Was worth every penny the way the guys crated up all of my glass items. All in all the packed and wrapped everything in a timely fashion and had me delivered in 5 days. Thanks again East Coast & Mark.
