Long-distance move from Antioch, IL to Grain Valley, MO

If they break it they don't replace it even if they promise too!

First off I am not a former employee who is mad at them. The reason I am stating that at the beginning is because when I was speaking to Christy in the office I told her I am seeing many bad reviews about the same situation I was experiencing. She asked me where I saw them (because they block you from their FaceBook page). I told her BBB and she stated those are former employees mad at them. I stated no I am not a former employee and I am stating the same thing.

I hired them for an out of state move on a 2 bed apartment and garage. They only use 26ft trucks which are for 5 bedroom houses. I went with them because they stated their cost covered everything no hidden cost. Which it did.

You have to pay half up front and the other half IN CASH when the move is complete and you would get a receipt right then once the money is turned over to the movers. I told Christy when I was booking the move I wasn't comfortable driving cross country with $1600 in cash and she stated it has to be that way. The owner has been burned before and wants cash. I said why can't I do a certified check and she stated no he wants cash. I stated they are guarantee by the bank still a no.

I hired for a Sunday move at 2pm. On Monday before I receive a call if it can be rescheduled to Saturday at 2pm. I said let me see I had a lot going on that week and had things planned for Saturday. I was able to change everything so the move was moved. They ended up not showing up until 3:20pm but did let me know they were having truck problems. They asked if they could start on Sunday earlier than 2pm I stated yes so they were going to text at 8am to set up a time. We drove from 7pm arriving in at 4:30am I set an alarm at 8am and waited for their text. Nothing until 10:30am stated they over slept but will be there by 2pm. Again didn't get here until 3:30pm but did communicate they were running late.

We went over where everything went and they unloaded the truck. I stayed out of their way which was a major mistake. My advise everything they pack you inspect it when it is coming off the truck. This will add more time which I was trying to be helpful since they had to drive 7 hours still and do another load to TN in the morning.

After they left and my son came home he noticed his TV had a big crack going across the screen. He found his cord in a box and plugged it in to see if the screen was watchable and it wasn't. I immediately contacted John who moved us (I found out later he was the owner) and sent him pictures. He told me they should have told me to let the tvs sit for 24 hours before turning them on due to how cold the house was compared to the hot truck but they will cover a new tv. I told him no the crack was there before we plugged it in and thanked him for covering the tv. I asked about the receipt from the move because I didn't receive it yet and he said he will send it. The next day I checked in with him and he asked for pictures from the back of the tv with the serial number and model which I sent right away. A week went by and no receipt or update on the tv. I would check in and John would say he was sorry they were very busy but he would be in the office the next day and will take care of the receipt and the tv. Well the next day I did receive the receipt with an email asking me if I wanted them to purchase the tv and send it to me and I said yes and please send me the tracking number. Here it is now 3 months later and I am still waiting. . . I have tried calling, emailing and nothing. I should have kept the tip and bought a tv with it but it was too late. Remember this was the owner who promise to replace this!!

Scam! Never showed up!

I hired Verlys Pro Moving Labor to load and unload my U-Haul moving truck I rented for June 30th. I pre-paid Verlys Pro Moving Labor $200 via the website MovingHelp.com. I scheduled 1pm on June 30th for them to come load my truck. On June 29th at 10pm I received a voicemail from them saying that their computers went down and they needed to re-verify the time of the move. I called back first thing in the morning at 8am, no answer, I left a message. At 9:30am I still hadn't heard back so I called again and left another message. I waited until 11am and still had no call back. Finally at 11:30am I called a third time and they answered, they verified that the movers would be at my home at 1pm. at 12:40pm I got a call from them saying the movers were running behind from a morning move and they would be at my house in 2 hours at 3pm. Then at 2:30pm they called me and said that one of their movers quit and they had no one else to move me. I asked what I was supposed to do about my truck rental and they said it wasn't their problem. I said that it is their problem because I paid for the truck rental, gas, mileage and my time I took off work for the day. They refused to do anything and gave me the manager's phone number. I called him right away and it went to voicemail, I left a message and waited for 30 minutes and no call back. I called the first lady (Christie) again who called me earlier and she wasn't answering either. I then tried to keep calling both numbers 20 more times throughout the rest of the day and evening and not once did anyone pick up. I left voicemails each time asking them to return my calls and I never got a call back. Clearly they were avoiding my calls because later on the phone didn't ring when I called, it went straight to voicemail which means they turned off their phones. .

Thank you Verlys!!

When our scheduled movers never showed up to move my parents Saturday morning, we were in a state of complete panic to find help last minute ASAP.  I contacted Verlys and then had a 3 man crew to my door within 2 hours!  These 3 men worked their butts off until almost 11pm moving incredibly heavy furniture including antiques.  They were very courteous of every peice they moved and very courteous of us as well.  Extremely friendly and very hard working.  Not to mention the incredible price we were quoted and especially as a last minute move.  We cant' be happier with the promptness, hard working, and last minute help we received.  I will be recommending Verlys to everyone.

Do Not Use Verlys.

It is not very often that I post anything negative. But, given the multitude of damages and the lack of a professional response from Verlys Pro Moving Labor I feel compelled to warn all. Here’s the brief summary…

Move scheduled over a month in advance for June 29th at 9am. Confirmed with them 1 week in advance.

Truck, tools for furniture disassembly and shrink wrap were not provided, yet they said it would be. I had to scramble last minute to get a truck and we had to use our tools and labor to disassemble furniture. By the time we figured that out along with the mover’s arrival we did not start moving until 3 hours late at noon.

The two movers they did send were nice guys, but by no stretch were they experienced “pro” movers. It was hot, they rushed and we have what you can see in the pictures. The employee said he was not scheduled to work and was called last minute, he then called his brother who did not work for Verlys to help him. Yet, when I called with concern she told me I had two of their most experienced movers. 1 year of experience for one and 1 day for the other. So that is your most experienced?

To top that off, because they were not even supposed to work they had to leave by 6PM, guess when the appliances were put on the truck – yep we had to unload those ourselves.

So back to the pictures… Several pieces of furniture damaged, holes in walls that were just painted and deep scratches in the hardwood floors. Conservative estimate: $5-6K worth of damage. Would John Verly the owner call to even discuss after several requests through his so called manager, no they would not. Instead, tried to play victim that I only paid the labor and not the remainder of their fee.

In my opinion, Verlys Pro Moving Labor who operates under cash only with no agreement or contract has done so because it is NOT a legitimate moving service as portrayed on Facebook. To further that, they are most likely fully aware that if they were to operate in a legitimate manner they would be opening themselves for being liable for situations like ours.

Moral of the story – DO NOT use Verlys Pro Moving Labor.

Great Movers at a Great price real Professional Movers!

Very Professional Movers and they completed my move start to finish within 5 hours time frame. It really was a big bang for the buck. I hired them through the movinghelp website and total move was only $270.00 bucks wow it was well worth it and I will recommend to friends and family for sure. Tom and Beau really went out of their way and they was so kind and Professional just made my move very easy and stress free. They was like one of the family from start to finish and they even set up our beds and dining room table for us also which was a big plus for us. I left a review on movinghelp also but think they deserve a 5 star review here also. So once again great service and I totally recommend these guys and you should ask for Tom and Beau they was awesome movers!

Horrible!

Absolutely awful experience. When my movers did not show up at noon as reserved, no one called to inform me that they would be late. Trying to get an answer from the company was a nightmare, they didn't know where the movers were or what was going on. The woman at the headquarters was rude, unapologetic, and screened my phone calls since I kept calling trying to figure out what was going on. When I finally called from my boyfriends phone she picked up and still didn't know what was going on. The movers finally showed up five and a half hours late, explaining that the headquarters was a mess because the owner is currently in jail. And the guy said he didn't call because he just bought an $850 phone, " which he didn't want to break on a job" which apparently is a good reason not to call your customers. Due to the lack of communication and the movers showing up five and a half hours late, I was forced to rent my rental truck an extra day. When I asked the lady at headquarters about reimbursement, she said it was not their fault and threatened not to send the movers unless I paid up on the spot. She said she would talk to the manager and get back with me. She actually lied to me by saying she would talk with the manager, who the mover later told me was in jail every weekend for writing an ATV off his property.

They also broke one of my kitchen table chairs and scratched up the table badly. When it came time to pay I explained to the movers that I had given my credit card number to the owner. The woman from the headquarters called me again and was very threatening. I explained to her that I had given my card to the gentleman who I made the reservation with, but she continued. I ended up giving the two movers cash, making them both sign and witness on a piece of paper that I paid in cash.

I still have yet to be reimbursed for the extra rental day on my truck. Worst moving experience ever, I will never use them again and will adamantly recommend against using them to everyone I know.

Horrible DO NOT HIRE.

Our experience with Verlys Pro Moving Labor was absolutely atrocious! We hired them for 2 hours with two movers to help move one piece of furniture that was too heavy and awkward for my Dad, Brother and I to move. I rented a Uhaul truck specifically for this piece of furniture and this day. They were supposed to show up to our house in Wheaton at 10am on Sunday September 28. At 9pm the night prior, they called to confirm the address and start time. On the 28th, at 10:30am they weren’t there yet. My mom (who hired them without looking at their reviews prior) called them, they never answered her call. My brother called and the lady picked up right away, once he identified who he was, the lady said they would be there in 30 minutes. At 11:30, still no call, no show. They wouldn’t pick up my brother’s calls or my mom’s calls. I called (pretending to be a new potential client with a last minute request for movers) she said that the movers were finishing loading a coach into a truck in Chicago and they could be at my house in 45minutes. I then identified who I was and that they were already supposed to be at my house an hour and a half ago, the lady immediately angrily scuffed at me and hung up on me without saying a word. She then stopped answering my calls as well. My dad called and the lady was unapologetic and said they’d be at my house in 30 minutes. At 12:45, still no call no show, we called from yet a different number and told them not to bother showing up that we’ll do it ourselves.

It was a complete waste of half a day waiting for this company. They have by FAR the worst customer service I've evere encountered. My mom chose to hire them since they were $100 cheaper than their competition. But you get what you pay for I guess. We will NEVER hire these people again! Don’t waste your time, and don’t waste your money, I promise you it’s not worth it!!

Awesome Movers at a very low price! Great service!

What a great moving exp we had with this company from the first phone call and with the friendly, courteous and Professional Movers that arrived at our house on the day of the move. We went with their full service option in which they provided the truck and movers to load and unload us from naperville,IL to joliet,IL. They did a great job in protecting our items and securing them in the truck. They put our beds and everything back together in the new house and rearranged our furniture to make our new place look great. We just had an overall great exp with these guys and company. We highly recommend them for movers@ http://www.verlyspromovinglabor.com is how we got in contact with them. Great movers. Great Company. Great Price.

Did not provide service paid for.

I hired Verlys to move an eliptical machine from one house to the basement of another house. When they arrived at the new house, they insisted that the machine would not fit down the stairs unless it was unassembled. I hired another company for $157 to unassemble the machine and move it down the stairs. They moved it WITHOUT TAKING IT APART. Contacted Verlys who asked for proof. I sent them documentation from the second moving company and they ignored my emails. Also did minor damage to 2 pieces of furniture they moved and put a dent in a stair. Read reviews on Yelp and BBB before hiring.
