American Long Distance Moving and Storage

We placed a $3500 deposit for our pickup and delivery to storage on June 1 or June2. We were told the second date would only be used in the event of a "natural disaster" and they not only didn't show on June 1 but also didn't show on June 2nd either. We did not have any information on the storage unit we were going to be using (even though asked for it) and I didn't feel comfortable sending all of our belongings to somewhere I didn't know, with a company we have not been able to reach and wasn't holding up to their word. It does seem like taking people's 50% deposit is part of their business model once they create a desperate situation or make them feel uncomfortable using their business. It's a shame we have companies like this and despicable they use the word "American" in their name.

This is my third week waiting for a truck to pick up my belongings from Harrisburg, PA to North Myrtle Beach. First day they didn't show up, called and was told "noon tomorrow". No show, customer service says its a Muslim holiday, they are not working. Next day, half hour away, next phone call, truck broke down and on and on this went. Finally got to speak with Angie, Ops Mgr. more lies. Then found David, he said I cancelled. Then found George at headquarters phone # 954-320-6921, all lies again. Still no move and no money. Is this what corporate America has become? BUYER BEWARE...SCAM

I have been having a terrible experience with this company. Initially booked with them for $2008, everything seemed to be going smooth through the initial process but then they were a day late picking up my items. I had informed them prior that I had a deadline of when I needed my things picked up because of my official move date that I’d be driving to my new state. The day they picked up my things they added over $1000 to my total. Fast forward, it’s been 3 weeks since they’ve picked up my furniture and they have still not delivered my things to me at my new home. It has been so hard getting ahold of someone and no one seems to have any answers or when my things will be brought to me. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. They will nickle and dime you and never bring your things on time. I am a Registered Nurse and I moved to CO to continue my career and help hospitals in need during COVID and this company literally is holding my stuff hostage. I could’ve paid less money and had my things quicker with a more reputable company. Tony and Tyler at American Long Distance Moving and Storage seem nice on the phone but don’t let them fool you, they are trying to take your money.

On May 24, 2021, I spoke to Greg B. (Ext. 117). I asked him if American Long Distance Moving and Storage used their own trucks. He lied and said they used their own trucks. However, it was a broker firm. They outsourced my move. It was suppose to take place on 5/27/2021. However the driver did not show up from 5-8 as scheduled. I waited at my clinic from 4-9PM. The driver arrived the next morning. He could not begin competing the delivery until after the medical office saw all of their morning patients. The driver who found a random man from St. Louis to help him. As t hey were moving my items out, you could tell the experience was not there and it took longer than expected. With three fourths the move completed, his boss asked what was taking so long and to see the truck. The boss then asked to FaceTime with me and demanded additional money immediately. All the items were provided to Greg B. that were going to be moved and an estimate was provided. I was given an estimate for 68 boxes and I only had 25 boxes. I had 2 exam tables, waiting room chairs, 3 desk, file cabinets, etc. The movers came and midway through the move, the boss of the driver called, demanded more money, and I told him that I was quoted for 68 boxes and all the item mentioned earlier and that I do not have 68 boxes but 25. I told him I wasn't going to pay extra. He told his driver to move all of my items out of the truck and just leave them on the street. It was 9:30 when the driver unloaded my items onto the street. I had no way to move my items back up to the 2nd floor of my clinic. I left to go try and find someone with a truck to recover my items. I could not find anyone. When I came back at 6AM in the morning, all of my items were gone except a few things. The items had been rained on all night and were ruined. I called and spoke to

Bobby Sherman, Manager, of American Long Distance Moving and Storage, he said it was my fault, showed no sympathy, and refused to give me the insurance money to file a claim for my stolen and lost items.

Move size: Office Move Service cost: $2900

They are highly organized and promise the world during quoting, but disappear after the contract is signed. They came a day early to pick up my items, then I called every week trying to understand where my stuff was and a month after I expected it to arrive, I found out that it never left the original location. People have lied to me, hung up on me, and eventually someone told me my stuff "might go out on a truck maybe next week" I am still waiting for my items to arrive and cannot get a hold of anyone by phone or email across the two different companies involved. Save yourself the stress and incurred costs of not having your items delivered (even within the +21 business day delivery window that they forget to mention before signing) I will be posting this review everywhere I can. AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS.
