We booked a move with American long Distance Moving and Storage and gave them an exhaustive list of our belongings at the time of booking. Their rep who claimed to be an expert estimated that the furniture and belongings of a five person, four bedroom home would fit into a space roughly the size of a laundry room.

And then attempted to blame ME for their error.

Thankfully we realized we were dealing with a fraudulent business prior to their coming into possession of our belongings, but believe me, American Long Distance Moving and Storage WILL attempt to defraud you.

They're refusing to return our deposit of $1300.00 in spite of the fact that every representative I spoke with admitted that the estimate of the space needed to contain our belongings was an egregious error.

We're having to take legal action to get our deposit back AND find another way to move our belongings across the country two days before our move. Their estimate went from 4,000.00 to over 10,000.00.

Find another company. Move your own belongings.

Move size: 3 Bedroom Home Service cost: $10000

My husband is a USMC veteran. When I made the original booking, the representative assured me that the crew that was coming out to help me was led by a Marine and he worked with other veterans. Working with a veteran company is important to us, hence, why we booked, because we were promised a crew that had served this country. Instead, on the morning of our move, 3 Russian speaking men showed up, only one spoke English and he was rude and condescending. While waiting for my husband to get home, I had called and told him that we had an issue and he needed to be there, we spoke to the company who informed us that they hire movers, they are simply a broker and they can't guarantee who shows up. The truck they brought out was too small, we wound up hiring other movers and had to rent 2 uhaul trucks to do what they were supposed to have done. While I was angry that nothing was handled correctly, including the fact that we never were sent through quality assurance to make sure that the wrong size truck was not sent out. The company was decent enough to own up to that error made on their end but still refused to refund our original deposit, so they got to scam us out of that. The biggest complaint I have is that they misrepresented themselves, the fact that I was told I was working with a military company and then actually went out and asked the crew that was sent while they waited outside while I talked to customer support. They sat there smoking, spitting sunflower seeds all over my driveway. I asked them if any of them had served in the military and they laughed at me. This company is nothing but a bunch of scammers!!!!!!!

Move size: 4+ Bedroom Home Service cost: $11000

Set up a contract with Jordan at American LongDistance to have our furniture picked up. He chose 9/20 and said our furniture will be delivered on 9/23. He received our money. He said, “ His men are handling this move. This is their main route NY to GA. You have nothing to worry about. IF you have any problems call me on my personal phone and I’ll make sure it’s handled.” They (Luxury Van Lines)that was contacted out from ALD picked our things up on 9/20 @7:20am. The three men were very nice, helpful and careful for pickup. When I called Amy from Luxury Van lines she baffled about the delivery date ADL set up. She wasn’t too pleased with Jordan making false promises. ALD customer service (Stacy) called and that was a waste of CO2. She was just patronizing me with the check into it and return your call promises. The phone call never happened. I was just informed today by Amy (Luxury Van lines) that her driver should be on the road tomorrow and our things will be there by the weekend. Imagine having Leukemia and sleeping on the floor due to false promises and straight up lies to get your hard earned money. It’s stressful moving, but this adds to the stress. The worse thing about it is they don’t give a dam! They got your money so suffer. Don’t go with this moving company American Long Distance!! I’m waiting to see how Luxury Van line plays out with the delivery by this weekend. Stay tuned.

Move size: Partial Move Service cost: $2500

The 1st sales guy sounded nice and honest so I took a chance. Wrong thing to do!!! I sent him pic's of all stuff in one spot ready to move so I had a pretty good idea of the cubic feet needed. The $1800 down payment came from my checking. Bad decision! They're holding my money hostage. I was uncomfortable with the limited summary of contents he listed within the bill. I sent the sales rep a detailed contents list along with the ACTUAL weight a along with an added table and bench a week later (I bought an industrial scale). He said the estimate would change but would not know until 24 hours before the scheduled pick up date. (I gave him the list 2 weeks before the move). The move went up approximately $2300 so I wanted to cancel. He said they would keep my $1800 down unless I provided another $1200 down that must be wired, I was on the hook and desperate to be moved as scheduled on 10/27. I went against my instincts and sent it. 10/27, 10/28, 10/29. No movers. No calls. I called them many times. Contract in email disappears online saying "congratulation on your move" My next agent told me the truck had broken down and I wanted a copy of the email regarding the bad truck. She would not comply. Wanted me to sign a new contract with new moving date. Didn't want to do it but did anyway because I was on the hook. New moving date of Monday Nov 1st 2021. No calls, No movers. What a scam!!! Nothing but corrupt liars. Now I'm stuck filing complaints with the FMCSA, writing a review and filing a claim in small claims court. Is there an attorney filing a class action against this company? I want in!

This company has certainly been such a great convenience for me. I am a frequent relocation because of business opportunities and the last company that I contact for assistance with relocating completely damaged many of my items and I had to pursue legal actions as a result. I was a little skeptical about getting any other company to assist me, but I knew that I would have eventually reach out to a service. My uncle referred me to American long distance moving and storage because he used their services in the past with great success. Their servicemen arrived to my area on time and the delivery was smooth sailing. I recommend this service to anyone that needs assistance with relocating.

We are a group of five individuals, so we had an excessive number of furnishings, clothing, and electronics. Our move was from Colorado to California. They managed to perform the move at an agreeable cost that fit our budget, and timeframe. Notwithstanding that they gave amazing service. All of our items were boxed in containers and some of those were pressed with most extreme care. At that point they relocated the items to our new residence. It was second time moving with this organization so I knew them in particular and the service the offered. They were truly quick and exceptionally careful with all our stuff all through the move. Much appreciated again American long distance moving and storage!

My Daughter was frauded by this company! They took a large deposit and promised a service they never had. We booked a moving date and they never reached out after taking her money. We had to CONSTANTLY a call them just to be fed BS and hung up on. I had flown out from Missouri to Oregon so I could help her with driving back with her dogs. On the day we were “assuming” they were to be there “scheduled “ date we were told whenWE called they were still looking for someone. My Daughter had her utilities scheduled for turn off , quit her job, gave her landlords notice . They are HORRIBLE! I had to return leaving her to clean up the issues . Had to call all the utilities, landlord, and beg for her job back. We told them to return our money and they refuse. I could go on and on but I’m sure you get the point. PLEASE People stay away from this scamming company. They are thieves to be kind.

This company pretends to arrange an actual shipping company to induce you to wire it a down payment but in my case it clearly sold me on their service before actually contracting. It then went out and tried to sell the paper/contract to shippers while I waited and waited and waited, incurring huge costs in the meantime. An industry insider clued me in, as did the fact that ALDM&S could not tell me the name of the shipping company even though they had repeatedly blamed delays on "the driver." Thus far, they have refused my request for a refund, or even to negotiate a settlement, so my next stop, after posting this review wherever I can, will be to alert federal and state authorities about this sophisticated wire fraud scam.

Total scam business-never came-almost 3 weeks later and still no word-actually removed our contract from their files so no longer retrievable; It's like they just erased our presence; please save yourself the grief

Look them up on Facebook, mymovingreviews.com, Trust pilot- many bad reviews -why take the chance-they are a complete fraud

Look at all of their reviews on google -almost all have only 1 review and over 30 within last 3 weeks-very suspicious -since we placed our first bad review the "good reviews" jumped from 50 total to 80+ in 2 weeks. Our review is totally legit-email me if you like.

First Nick promised pickup would be on time then we were unable to contact him again. Then Tyler Hanson contacted us to tell us we owed them another $471.17 on top of initial deposit of $876.00 because it appeared that my son had more than originally calculated -since they already had my deposit I had no choice -actually they estimated 20 boxes but he had 4. He'd didn't have that much stuff.

We contacted them multiple times a day-were constantly told that they were about to contact the dispatcher but nothing ever materialized.

They knew from first conversation that my son was pressed for time and assured us no problem.

5/15/21-day of move-told repeatedly they would call us shortly-no show

5/16/21-told they were coming-no show despite assurances

for each of the following "pickup dates" we had to pay someone to wait for them as my son had to leave for his new job.

5/17/21-definitely coming today-no show

5/19/21-Joe told us arriving between 6pm- 8pm- no show

5/20/21-Told again arriving between 6pm-8pm-no show

5/21/21-Joe again promised arrival between 5pm-8pm- no show

5/22/21-told movers backed out of job-only informed us after we called multiple times; after more calls told us that they can not contact dispatcher as they are not available over the weekends

we stopped calling as we got nowhere with them-told-they repeated the same old lines as if rehearsed just to get us off the phone-don't give them any money- they insisted on bank wire transfers -very suspicious- we should have known that something was not right

As of June 2 we have never heard from this company again- It's been over 10 days with no word from them

We placed a $3500 deposit for our pickup and delivery to storage on June 1 or June2. We were told the second date would only be used in the event of a "natural disaster" and they not only didn't show on June 1 but also didn't show on June 2nd either. We did not have any information on the storage unit we were going to be using (even though asked for it) and I didn't feel comfortable sending all of our belongings to somewhere I didn't know, with a company we have not been able to reach and wasn't holding up to their word. It does seem like taking people's 50% deposit is part of their business model once they create a desperate situation or make them feel uncomfortable using their business. It's a shame we have companies like this and despicable they use the word "American" in their name.

This is my third week waiting for a truck to pick up my belongings from Harrisburg, PA to North Myrtle Beach. First day they didn't show up, called and was told "noon tomorrow". No show, customer service says its a Muslim holiday, they are not working. Next day, half hour away, next phone call, truck broke down and on and on this went. Finally got to speak with Angie, Ops Mgr. more lies. Then found David, he said I cancelled. Then found George at headquarters phone # 954-320-6921, all lies again. Still no move and no money. Is this what corporate America has become? BUYER BEWARE...SCAM

I have been having a terrible experience with this company. Initially booked with them for $2008, everything seemed to be going smooth through the initial process but then they were a day late picking up my items. I had informed them prior that I had a deadline of when I needed my things picked up because of my official move date that I’d be driving to my new state. The day they picked up my things they added over $1000 to my total. Fast forward, it’s been 3 weeks since they’ve picked up my furniture and they have still not delivered my things to me at my new home. It has been so hard getting ahold of someone and no one seems to have any answers or when my things will be brought to me. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. They will nickle and dime you and never bring your things on time. I am a Registered Nurse and I moved to CO to continue my career and help hospitals in need during COVID and this company literally is holding my stuff hostage. I could’ve paid less money and had my things quicker with a more reputable company. Tony and Tyler at American Long Distance Moving and Storage seem nice on the phone but don’t let them fool you, they are trying to take your money.

On May 24, 2021, I spoke to Greg B. (Ext. 117). I asked him if American Long Distance Moving and Storage used their own trucks. He lied and said they used their own trucks. However, it was a broker firm. They outsourced my move. It was suppose to take place on 5/27/2021. However the driver did not show up from 5-8 as scheduled. I waited at my clinic from 4-9PM. The driver arrived the next morning. He could not begin competing the delivery until after the medical office saw all of their morning patients. The driver who found a random man from St. Louis to help him. As t hey were moving my items out, you could tell the experience was not there and it took longer than expected. With three fourths the move completed, his boss asked what was taking so long and to see the truck. The boss then asked to FaceTime with me and demanded additional money immediately. All the items were provided to Greg B. that were going to be moved and an estimate was provided. I was given an estimate for 68 boxes and I only had 25 boxes. I had 2 exam tables, waiting room chairs, 3 desk, file cabinets, etc. The movers came and midway through the move, the boss of the driver called, demanded more money, and I told him that I was quoted for 68 boxes and all the item mentioned earlier and that I do not have 68 boxes but 25. I told him I wasn't going to pay extra. He told his driver to move all of my items out of the truck and just leave them on the street. It was 9:30 when the driver unloaded my items onto the street. I had no way to move my items back up to the 2nd floor of my clinic. I left to go try and find someone with a truck to recover my items. I could not find anyone. When I came back at 6AM in the morning, all of my items were gone except a few things. The items had been rained on all night and were ruined. I called and spoke to

Bobby Sherman, Manager, of American Long Distance Moving and Storage, he said it was my fault, showed no sympathy, and refused to give me the insurance money to file a claim for my stolen and lost items.

Move size: Office Move Service cost: $2900

They are highly organized and promise the world during quoting, but disappear after the contract is signed. They came a day early to pick up my items, then I called every week trying to understand where my stuff was and a month after I expected it to arrive, I found out that it never left the original location. People have lied to me, hung up on me, and eventually someone told me my stuff "might go out on a truck maybe next week" I am still waiting for my items to arrive and cannot get a hold of anyone by phone or email across the two different companies involved. Save yourself the stress and incurred costs of not having your items delivered (even within the +21 business day delivery window that they forget to mention before signing) I will be posting this review everywhere I can. AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS.

American long distance moving and storage is a scam operation. The five star reviews you see here and on other review sites are laughably fake - all customers of this company leave with emptier pockets and no services rendered. The only communication the company is on top of is collecting your $1000 non refundable deposit. Our move was scheduled for a period of two days with a hard deadline. Over the two days we made more than five calls to get an update on status, but NO CUSTOMER SERVICE AGENT OR EMPLOYEE COULD COMMENT ON A DATE OR TIME FOR WHEN MOVERS WOULD ARRIVE. When we requested our deposit back, they quickly referred to the fact that our contract says they can’t guarantee the move dates they promise. In summary - American Long Distance Moving and Storage takes 1000 dollars to force you to use their moving services which they will render when/if it is convenient for them. This company is an absolute disappointment and conduct themselves in a way that is completely embarrassing and immoral. No customer deserves this.
