American Long Distance Moving and Storage

We are a group of five individuals, so we had an excessive number of furnishings, clothing, and electronics. Our move was from Colorado to California. They managed to perform the move at an agreeable cost that fit our budget, and timeframe. Notwithstanding that they gave amazing service. All of our items were boxed in containers and some of those were pressed with most extreme care. At that point they relocated the items to our new residence. It was second time moving with this organization so I knew them in particular and the service the offered. They were truly quick and exceptionally careful with all our stuff all through the move. Much appreciated again American long distance moving and storage!

I had two moving companies walk my house and give an estimate. They declined to walk through the house and instead based their estimate on the other companies quotes. They also claimed not to be a booking agent and said their movers work for them. Which has turned out not to be true.

I triple checked and sent photo messages with photos of my exercise equipment, which they said they could handle no problem

They gave a date for the move, didn't show.

They said they'd arrive the next day, didn't show, said truck broke down

They arrived a day later.

The immediate reaction of the foreman was, my truck isn't big enough, this move is far too great, and he asked for an additional $6,000 on top of the original quote of $5,900 for the move. More than DOUBLE the original estimate and $5,000 higher than the estimate of two companies who walked the house. It was a total price gouge.

I called American Long Distance Movers and after several hours of back and forth, the movers began loading the truck and getting another truck even before a final price was agreed.

After a stressful renegotiation, the final price we agreed worked like this:

1. I was to pay the mover directly $8,000

2. American Long Distance Movers, who ARE a booking agent, not a moving company, were to refund $1,600 of the $1,703 initial deposit.

The move then happened. They did not disassemble or re-assemble the multi-gym as they were contracted to do. This meant it was left in my garage in the new house, not my new gym room.

Other items were damaged.

But the worst part is, American Long Distance Movers then did NOT refund the $1,600 as agreed on the day of the move. They refused to do it, trying to shift blame onto the moving company who they originally claimed to be the same company.

Total scam artist. This review is going to be posted in places where it can't be filtered out. Do not under any circumstance fall for their lowball quotes. Go with a reputable company.

And if you want to know how fly-by-night they really are, put their office address into google street view. It's a UPS store. There's no office. It's a digital agency who will take your money, then gouge you for more money, and not live up to their word.

I just spent the last hour on the phone with a customer service rep who would not back down about making an immediate decision on choosing them as our moving company, when it's a big decision and needs to be pondered. While having discussions with my husband about the quote we received, we decided we would be unable to move forward with the company because something seemed extremely off. The sales rep then decided to tell me "it doesn't matter your price already changed" and to "not call back" then hung up. This place seems like a scam.

Move size: Studio Service cost: $1662

When I first began my journey with the company I talked to Ted he was amazing. I felt like this was the company to do business with. Then I find out that there estimate was grossly under estimated and my price was off by $1,200 dollars. That seemed odd considering I had the exact amount of items I said all along. With one other option the day of the move I paid it. When asked when I wanted to receive my items I provided a date only to find out the day of I would receive my belongings when they can give them to me. Why ask me if I don't get an option? Why am I just finding out the day of "delivery" I will get my belongings eventually?

So if you want to have your prices doubled the day of and receive your belongings eventually this is the company for you. You are better off with a pack and drive yourself company. This was not worth it. Don't waste your money.

Initial Contact, great. Was told everything would go perfectly. He got everything he needed and I told him exactly what I needed moved, down to the inch and pound. He gave me an estimate, said he over estimated and that I'd most likely get some money back after it was all done. I was pleased and made a schedule. Then they called and rescheduled. Something felt off after that. Not sure why, but I felt like something was wrong. They didn't show up. called me later said something was wrong with the truck. Finally met up with them. I had everything boxed up and ready to go. I had exactly what I said I would have, down to the inch. They said I didn't pay for enough room on their truck and proceeded charge me double. I said no and canceled my check. I lost my $1,000+ deposit and can't get it back. Thank goodness I was able to cancel my check in time or I'd be out over $3000. Now that I think about it, seems odd that all the negative reviews had the same problem I did.

Where do I even begin... do not work with this company. They are a brokerage company NOT a carrier. Extremely misleading. (Plus, the other reviews are clearly fake and less than a year old.)

The sales contact (“Nick”) was personable, but we eventually caught him in a tangle of lies. Customer service representatives made empty promises about returning our calls.

Horrible horrible experience. Thankfully, I cancelled my services before pickup was supposedly going to occur. You better believe I will be fighting for my $500 non refundable deposit. Bad feelings about this overall.

Move size: 1 Bedroom Home Service cost: $1800

This company will under- estimate your load and collect a down payment, which they wouldn't refund. They charged me $2,000 to move my living room set and one bedroom set. When the trucking company arrived they said that I have to pay additional $2,500 because the bed and living room sets are larger. I was misled and when I requested for a refund, the customer service personnel, (Joe) as he identified himself was very rude. Please do not do business with these schemers. They will collect your money and provide you with no assistant. Do not sign no contract that requires you paying prior to getting the estimate from the trucking company.

After responding to my request for quoto via text, I called them and talked to their representative, Brad. Brad hastily come up with an estimate based on my description, he went on to pressure me to commit right there and then. When I hesitated saying I needed time to check them out, another big discount came via "my manager". I said I'd have to call them back and that's when Brad hung up on me. Nice! They may be good movers but I will never find out. Stay away.

If you want your move to be done by PROS that have true experience in the field, with a no BS attitude that will tell you the truth if a truck breaks down, if there is a delay because of unforeseen circumstances (traffic accident, weather, etc), then these guys are for you. I want to know whats going on with my valuables without the BS. I know my move was rather in small in terms of volume and monetary amounts, but they treated with the same high class and respect as a 10k relo. Woohooo!

Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $2890

This company pretends to arrange an actual shipping company to induce you to wire it a down payment but in my case it clearly sold me on their service before actually contracting. It then went out and tried to sell the paper/contract to shippers while I waited and waited and waited, incurring huge costs in the meantime. An industry insider clued me in, as did the fact that ALDM&S could not tell me the name of the shipping company even though they had repeatedly blamed delays on "the driver." Thus far, they have refused my request for a refund, or even to negotiate a settlement, so my next stop, after posting this review wherever I can, will be to alert federal and state authorities about this sophisticated wire fraud scam.

My current acct is Reference No: A4357922,

I am nothing short of very dissatisfied with my overall experience with your move. Since 1980 between my 21 years in the Navy and 20 years with my current employer I’ve either relocated or moved long distance over 30 times. While that is no exaggeration the point that I am making is that this company communicates very poorly with its clients, especially when are not able to even come close to meeting their expected deadlines for pickup. I was supposed to have been picked up between the 18th & 19th of this month, not only did the dispatch office fail to initially contact me until late on the 17th I had to make several calls on the 18th to be told that my pickup was going to occur on the 19th. Then after settling into my secondary date schedule I was told at 1 pm on the 18th that my mover was going to contact me. Not les than 2 hours later I get a call from a mover in GA who says now that it’s going to be sometime around the 20th. I called your company to only find out that I’m the one informing you of the alteration in my schedule and that despite there be no reason given you cannot do anything to even compensate or late alone advocate for me. This is a part of two moves and I discussed with your rep Nic how important my timeline was and accepted a two day window, but now with a72 hour window my schedule has been significantly complicated. I am going to have to expect that I’m on my own and it’s my fault for using your company.

My Daughter was frauded by this company! They took a large deposit and promised a service they never had. We booked a moving date and they never reached out after taking her money. We had to CONSTANTLY a call them just to be fed BS and hung up on. I had flown out from Missouri to Oregon so I could help her with driving back with her dogs. On the day we were “assuming” they were to be there “scheduled “ date we were told whenWE called they were still looking for someone. My Daughter had her utilities scheduled for turn off , quit her job, gave her landlords notice . They are HORRIBLE! I had to return leaving her to clean up the issues . Had to call all the utilities, landlord, and beg for her job back. We told them to return our money and they refuse. I could go on and on but I’m sure you get the point. PLEASE People stay away from this scamming company. They are thieves to be kind.

The rep from American long distance moving who assisted me was very helpful. She called back and checked on me ‘because we were building a house, so the date was kind of like up in the air. And she was more than willing to check back in it with me to make sure that I didn’t forget and that I knew that she was available. She sent me everything I needed to know about the pricing too. The moving crew was great as well. It was hot and they were more than willing during the move. I felt bad. I was like, “Oh, I’m sorry. That goes upstairs.” They were like, “Okay.” They were really helpful. Everything was great. I would recommend American long distance moving.

We have had a contract for a long time. The moving date has come and go multiple times. They actually even asked us to push back personally moving which is not possible. We have called to get it handled and we’re told someone would be there tomorrow only to again have no one show up and no communication. Then because it was now June they charged us more for the summer rate even though it was there fault it is taking so long. A women from customer service bragged how they are a multi million dollar company so they would be okay if we sued them but would not give us a refund. At this point they will be getting a large lawsuit including the other costs I have incurred like storage. I am at the point of flying to the office.
