I was staying in Ohio with one of my closest friends for a couple of months as she was looking to transition back to NYC. She had a new baby and way too much stuff for us to drive up ourselves with the truck. She was frantic, and I decided to look into a moving company to make it a less strenuous process. I found this particular moving service through some of the folks in the neighbourhood. I called them up, explained that we were going to need a few movers and a large truck because we were going up to  NYC. They price quoted us 3000 which was more than reasonable considering the abundance of items, and the distance. Upon arrival the workers were very helpful. We had not had the ability to wrap the large furniture items as it was just two women and a baby. They went above and beyond to make sure the furniture was well wrapped and placed in the truck gently. She had a lot of fragile items and the workers took extra special care not to damage anything. We were very happy to find that all of her items made it safe and sound to New York . These movers were friendly, helpful and showed the utmost professionalism. Very appreciative of the painless moving experience that they provided.

After spending half the day on the phone and talking to 3 other moving companies that did nothing but stress me out, I was glad to settle on United Transportation Moving and Storage. Our moving costs were covered by the company I was to work for, so I was not shopping on price, but their bid came in as the second lowest bid anyway. The sales agent was methodical and explained the ins and outs of long distance moving and explained everything and gave us solid assurances about our time-frame and the approximate costs. They told me according to my
description it could take 3-4 hours of packing time and what I should do to speed up the process. They came in at 3 hours and 15 minutes and my wife insisted on running down to Dunkin Donuts and getting them some snacks. I had to make them wait 10 minutes as they were already done.

This crew was very professional, as was the crew that unloaded our stuff at our new town house in Mahwah, NJ. There were plenty of other stresses around this trip, but moving was not really one of them. Not planning another move anytime soon, but will call these guys first when we do.

They deserve negative stars. Please do not use this company with it's multi addresses, use of aliases for the owner, the owner Ben who denies he's the owner, and the evasive and crooked tactics they use. They will low ball your move, then jack up the price for bullsh*t reasons when they have you at your most vulnerable. They will take your stuff and then they will refuse to give it back unless you pay their ransom money, or they pretend that they have no availability to deliver, even after they suggest the dates they can deliver. Magically, that date becomes unavailable, but could be yours IF you pay through the nose for priority delivery. They yell at you, blame you for their mistakes and terrible ethics, and give every lame excuse under the sun (even ones that contradict each other) why they can't deliver your stuff. So not trust these base, lying pieces of garbage. They should be run out of town on a rail.

Quoted $1342 and a Wednesday move. No movers, no call.
I called them in all my free time while packing ect
My move was rescheduled to Friday. Friday, no movers, no call. Once again, I call and customer service promised compensation and a Saturday move.
Mover shows up at 5, storage closes at 7. One dude in flip flops can't move a 5x10 storage in that time. I open the storage door, first thing put of his mouth was, "this is going to cost twice as much"! He knows this how? Fee went from $1342 to $2642 in 2 seconds! I sent this scamming bozo packing.
The foreign dispatcher calls me, offers me a move for $1700 because " he is a nice guy"! Now, Im back at square one, finding a professional moving company and out $600 for a hotel since they didn't show up as scheduled. How can anyone trust this company? Now, they are offering to return my $200 deposit to remove my post!
Very unethical! Liars! Scammers!

Move size: Studio Service cost: $2684

Worst movers to work with. Came late for pick-up, and said will show up next day. Came late, and disrupted my travel plans. Don't value your time and no commitment. On day of pick up increased the cost from 1500 to 2500. The loader put all the charges. Still waiting for delivery.

But they donot offer any discount for their negligence.

Such a shabby and poor experience with the United moving company. If had time, I would take legal route. I hope some one teaches them a lesson

I'm happy to say that United stepped up to the plate and worked hard to make sure I was satisfied wit my moving experience. There was a break down in communication in the beginning but was quickly resolved by United. On top of that, they credited me $630 for packing and material and are going to replace my broken items. Moving sucks, things happens and things don't always go according to plan, but when a company admits its faults and then works hard to make amends and make sure the customers is satisfied, that goes a long way!

Tami was awesome. You could tell that she really cared and wanted to make things right and you know what? She did! It's easy to write a bad review when you feel service didn't meet your expectation or you were dissatisfied with the outcome but most don't take the time to update when a company made good on their promise. Although there were some bumps in the road, Tami extended herself to make sure the bumps were smoothed out and I walked away happy at the end of the day.

I want to say thank you to UTMS for moving my family from Oceanside to Honolulu I was contacted by Tami and we had good communication, she was polite and she was very detailed about what's included in the service and she also checked the dates that will be cheaper to move.

Ben Call to confirm a day in advance and the guys were on time Boris, Manuel, and Rocky work fast and protected all my belongings.

Delivery was done after 2 weeks Hector and Rocky assemble all my furniture in my new home.

I don't have any damages. This is my 1st time moving I was a little scared but they made the moving process much much easier they were available for me.

I recommend UTMS to all families that are moving, they truly care about their customers. I couldn't be any happier with my choice.

They are 5 star moving company.

This moving company has lied, decieved, and now illegally impersonated me to scam my credit card company!

I began the process of moving from VA to HI in October and everything was great- they seemed legit but once my items were picked up on 12/26/17, I had to call and email everyone week (sometimes 3+ times) to even get a response of "What do you need to know? We don't know where your stuff is." What? I just paid you $1,450.80 and you don't know where my items are?

I was told once my shipment made it to LA, I'd receive a call, I called on 1/1/18 and was told "We don't know." So I called back every few days ..and finally moved on 1/24/18 and was told it would be two more days until my things arrived, I called in 2 days and they say 3 more days..I call and they say 1 week..okay, now you guys are messing with me..a week later, they say 2 more weeks until my shipment arrives, what!

The two weeks passed after recording and documenting every phone call and email, mind you, we are told we will receive a call from the delivery man; he calls to tell us he was fired from United that day..so we hire him ourselves, as a private contractor; this contractor, myself, and bf go to the storage unit that was actually on island on 1/24/18 as well (they lied and said it wasn't) and pick up our own items and deliver to our own apartment since United did not fulfill the contract and lied the whole time! We took matters into our own hands and became our own movers.

Two days later, United charged my credit card for a delivery fee of $1173.28 which they did illegally and fraudulently! I worked with my credit card company and TODAY 3/10/18 was told United sent them a letter claiming to be ME stating I authorized the above payment. I DID NOT. United illegally forged my signature!! I have already filed a complaint with the BBB and will continue to file complaints so this doesn't happen the anyone else. I have now had United STEAL my identity in forging a letter. I am disgusted and shocked.

Quick add- there is another family on the island who's things were also in our storage unit and they're going through the exact same scenario and issues and are filing complaints of their own; also working with the credit card company as they were illegally charged as well!

Please do yourself a favor and DO NOT work with this company. They will steal you money, time, and peace of mind.

I booked my move from Oregon to New York through a broker company that contracts with United to perform the actual move. I will preface this review with admitting that using a broker caused some miscommunication and contributed to some of the issues with this move. That being said, the service I received from United was extremely unsatisfactory. It took nearly 2 months to move my belongings, and the customer service was truly horrible.

My pickup was initially scheduled for December 19. On December 21 at 9 pm, the driver called and said he would be arriving in about an hour. My storage unit closed at 10, so we agreed to meet at the storage unit first thing the next morning instead. The driver and one assistant showed up the next morning three hours later than the agreed upon time.

This was only the beginning. My belongings were picked up on December 22, and driven to California, where they sat until my delivery on February 15. The initial delivery was supposed to be on January 15! The delivery was repeatedly pushed back, and it was very clear that United was making absolutely no effort to ensure a timely delivery. In addition, they make you sign a contract that says they have 21 business days to make the delivery. So you basically have no recourse if your delivery is extremely delayed. And the reimbursement for a late delivery is only $30 per day. Hardly appropriate for such a huge inconvenience!

The company also doesn't typically accept credit cards (which seems a little sketchy to me). However, I arranged to pay the remaining balance due upon delivery by credit card. Unfortunately, there was a last minute problem in which my credit card was declined the night before delivery. I arranged with management to pay by credit card the morning of delivery, but when the driver found out about this, he refused to come to my house to deliver my belongings! The driver refused to deliver unless I had cash or money order, despite my having made special arrangements. This was obviously not communicated to the driver and was a huge inconvenience and burden.

Between the late pickup, extremely late delivery, and poor customer service, this move went absolutely horribly. I will not be using United for any future moves, nor would I recommend them to a friend. The only positive remark I can make is that my belongings arrived in decent shape with very few damages.
