United Transportation Moving & Storage

While not a “scam”, this company has been utterly unprofessional and unhelpful. The actual movers that United hires are pleasant and do a decent job (minus a few pieces of damaged furniture), but unfortunately, the company itself is disorganized and a nightmare to deal with.

First and foremost, there is zero proactive communication. You will never hear from them, and even when you call, more often than not, they have no information for you.

Relatedly, there is a huge disconnect between dispatch and their drivers. The central team has either a limited or incorrect view of where your belongings are and cannot provide updates. It took over two weeks for dispatch to find out which storage facility was being used for my stuff, preventing me from retrieving it myself.

The most jarring discrepancy in communication was being told on 12/23 that there was no way my stuff could be there sooner than 1/4 and then getting a call later that day from a driver that he was an hour out.

I ignored the bad reviews because United Transportation Moving and Storage had a decent overall rating, but I would not subject anyone to this moving experience, and deeply regret going with this “cheap” quote.

Move size: 1 Bedroom Home Service cost: $2900

United Transportation will give you an inexpensive estimate to get your business. Then, the actual expenses are much higher (from cost of boxes to adding 10% fuel surcharges; it wouldn’t matter, which directions you are heading- they will charge you this fuel surcharge).

We have accepted all these extra costs, but to to top it off, they are extremely careless with moving - they broke my dearest instrument (Lute) into pieces. I showed the broken instrument to the driver, he told me to take a picture and email it to the company. Totally, hard-broken and full of tears in my eyes, as writing this message.

Third, they will never deliver your furniture on time. They will be late days to weeks. This is just beyond what is expected in any professional company.

I may have forgiven everything if they did not broke my Lute. I am just hard-broken.

Flawless move!

I was referred to the company by a former co-worker of mine, I was transferring locations and have never done an service move or even an international move for that matter. I was a little skeptical at first but I must say I was very impressed. From the very beginning ben alongside his company were beyond very helpful, staff was immaculate and very prompt and professional with answering any questions I had and returning each and every phone call. Like I said in the beginning I was very skeptical because of horror stories I have heard in the past, but ben was very informative and hepful during the duration of my move. COMPLETELY redirected me! The movers were very promt and polite as well, VERY PROFESSIONAL might I add. They gave me calls frequently to let me know where they were each and every step of the way. If I had any questions I trusted I was able to call ben and get a direct answer within minutes. I must say, I will refer this company to friends and family. They have exceeded my expectations of any mover, THANK YOU ALL SERVICES AND STAFF !

Here is an account of my experience and discrepancies between quotes. I provided this information to the moving company, and have been waiting for 5 months for them to resolve this -- being told over and over again that they are just backed up with other priorities. I told them if I did not hear back, that I would make more public reports of this experience, so here it is:

First Quote: $1185

Sent full inventory list with images and sizes of every item that would be moved

Second Quote: ~ $2500

** I spoke with Sierra (who I texted with back and forth, who called me "hun" and made me feel like we were buds) about the discrepancy between the first and second quotes, and she helped me understand how things were calculated. Over the next several days, we worked on my inventory list to reduce the costs.

Third Quote: $2387

** I had even reduced my inventory list further, after this point, and expected to pay somewhere around $2200, based on my items. On moving day, I was presented with total estimated charges of $3306.44, which was devastating and heartbreaking, to say the least-- because I had been really meticulous with the costs, up to this point. I was moving as a result of COVID-related job loss, and didn't have a lot of money to spare.

Not only that, but my experience with the pickup movers was subpar. They arrived several hours before scheduled time, and bombarded me with phone calls and texts asking for entry, as I was trying to complete my packing process. They told me they could not remove anything from the walls, even though I had been told along the process that they could. Ultimately, I ended up removing my own TV stand with the drill the mover provided, while he told me that my move was a "waste of time". He also broke the door frame in his attempt to prop it open.

When he presented me with the revised estimate, I explained to him the discrepancy, and tried to communicate the lengths I had gone to in order to ensure an accurate inventory list and quote, because I was making the move as a result of unemployment during COVID -- not a great place to be. The mover informed me that 95% of customers end up paying more than they are originally quoted, and that I had no choice but to sign the revised quote, and then call the office on Monday when they reopened.

When speaking with Anna through the process (as I had to call every day for a week leading up to my dropoff-- no one ever reached out to inform me of the actual moving date)-- I was told that "management" was "out of the country" -- and they were every single day I called for several weeks. No one ever reached out to talk to me about the quote dispute, and nothing was handled. I was expected to pay the balance in full, upon drop-off.

I was instructed to submit a detailed claim, which I did, with supporting images showing quotes, inventory lists, text messages, etc-- and I am still (5 months later) seeking the $1100 difference from the rate I expected ($2200) and the rate I was ultimately charged ($3300). As I have started to unpack my items, I have also noticed damages, which the company has asked me to submit ANOTHER claim in regards to. Obviously I just want to have the quote discrepancy resolved and not continue submitting claims that will never be addressed.

In regards to my move Feb 2021, I'm still waiting on settlement from Anthem/United on items stolen, broken and my bank account being compromised by movers. I was advised that all mover on my case were fired but look here (see pic), they lied to hush me. Well I'm back, still seeking compensation from over a year ago.

Anthem isn't very useful at all either.

AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS. They employ and cover for thieves!!!!

This company made my moving expectations by far amazing. They gave me and my family a fair price as well as making sure that our inventory was correct. On pick up day they were professionals and loaded my belongings carefully and quick.

On delivery it was the same professionalism. Which was very stress free as others may not say about their moving experience.They even assembled my furniture which was very helpful.

This company is really the best would recommend them to other.
