Long-distance move from Pioneer, CA to Sun City, AZ

United Transportation.

My bad experience with United Transportation started at the beginning. We agreed on a time and date for their arrival. They were two days late. They tagged and loaded my belongings and then asked for a gratuity. They have a poor system of ropes to separate clients belongings. I wanted them to store my belongings about 30 days. They palletize clients belongings in the warehouse. Because of their very poor system of separating client belongings with ropes, some of my belongings were put on the wrong pallet. Whoever United Transportation gave my belongings to never called anyone and decided to keep what didn't belong to them. United Transportation is not capable of tracing and or tracking pallets once they leave.
I lost clothing, I lost almost all of my irreplaceable lifelong treasures and almost all of my irreplaceable family heirlooms.

Moved from rosville ca to Honolulu HI.

I want to thank United transportation moving and storage and they're crew they did a good job from start to finish. Anna sales rep gave me fair price and explained all the moving details being my first time moving overseas. Customer service dept called to confirm delivery. On delivery Hector and his crew were very courteous received all my items intact. His crew set up and helped me put my items where they belonged. My old neigjbor.

Long-distance move from Carlsbad, CA to Issaquah, WA

Horrific experience.

Absolutely a horrific experience! We've moved cross country 5 times, and this was BY FAR, the worst experience ever. They up-charged us multiple times, the pickup crew quit 1/2 way through the job, they hired guys off Craigslist coming into our home to pack and move our stuff and the office staff had no idea where our furniture was at any given time during the move. I mean really, I can find my I-phone anywhere, anytime, but they had no way of knowing where their huge truck with all our belongs was located over the course of a week?! We spent 2 full days sitting in an empty house waiting for them to show up. I could go on and on, just save yourself the heartache, frustration and aggravation and do not use them.

Seriously the worst customer service experience of any kind we've ever experienced.

BEWARE, this is NOT United Van Lines.

Long-distance move from Turlock, CA to South Jordan, UT

Avoid at all costs!!

Took over 21 days to get our stuff, from CA to UT. The entire time was a nightmare. Highly unprofessional. They will give you the run around on everything from price to where your stuff is. They charged us $6000 over what they quoted us, after giving multiple updated inventory sheets. They offered to give us a refund of $1400. Haven't seen it, don't think we ever will, as they don't return emails or phone calls. Many items were damaged en route, and their "insurance" its a joke. Save yourself the headache and use another company. I would give 0 stars if I could. Avoid at all costs! Take your money elsewhere! They will bait and switch you, and they will lie to you. They won't treat your belongings with respect. You WILL have items broken, damaged, or flat out destroyed.

Local move within Maryland

Cross country move.

We moved from Maryland to San Diego. We used a broker who connected us to this company. The mover was fine. It was only him (the driver), it took a while for his help to show up. We felt bad and bought him some cold drinks, and I also gave him a good tip. I think because it was only him, our hardwood floor ended up scratched from moving the sofas. The broker offered $200 for the damage later when I complained because it had been a month and I hadn’t heard back from the company. We took longer than expected and went over the first 30 days free shipping so we had higher cost there than quoted for storage (apparently it’s cheaper if you book it initially) and apparently 90-100% require shuttle delivery which for us is an extra $800+ which we were not told in the beginning. We had different price quotes for both these fees from the broker as well. Maybe if we hadn’t used a broker we would have known about the fee to start? I suspect with all movers there are going to be hidden or not upfront fees. I’ve heard a lot of horror stories with moving and it’s a very scary process. But if I write this review, I get almost half off that unexpected $800+ fee. Our stuff hasn’t been delivered yet so I can’t say anything regarding that, but all in all the guys did a good job packing/loading/moving our stuff. BEST moving and storage (the broker) and the driver who did most of the packing reassured me and made a very stressful time less so and helped the process be smoother. He was apologetic about the floor and even with only one guy initially they were very fast.

I called today because I hadn’t heard and had put in a delivery date for tomorrow. I was very glad for the news they were indeed going to deliver tomorrow. We’ve had our stuff in storage now for about 5 weeks. You have to pay a full month for a weeks extra storage. Moving is so tough (don’t get me started on the hotels while waiting for house to be ready!!) and I hope you have a smooth transition!!

If you are price comparing, our cost below is the final cost for 8938#. (I had very significantly trimmed down our belongings including not transporting many furniture pieces and many full car donations plus garage sales for things that were included in the estimate) after the first extensive estimate, so I was really quite surprised our weight came in higher than the estimate, meaning we didn’t get a refund from the first estimate but actually owed more).

Long-distance move from Seattle, WA to Birmingham, AL

Burned all our stuff in a fire, no contact after.

This company should not even be allowed to operate. They lost al of our stuff in a supposed warehouse fire (was not supposed to be in a warehouse in California, they had told us would be delivered to Alabama the next week) and have been cold and unresponsive to this devastating loss. I am happy to speak personally with anyone who is considering using this company. DO NOT DO IT. They have a terrible claims company, a dismissive attitude about their obligations and a completely unresponsive customer service department. That doesn’t even get into the fact that they were terrible even at the initial packing up stage where a full service move turned into me and my neighbor helping the two people who showed up pack a 4 bedroom house. It was completely absurd. Save your self the hassle, use any other movers.

United transport hen Moving is definitely the best way to move.

I really do not know how to thank these fine people. They were excellent from the start to finish. I got the best possible deal from the sales rep tamara, and the packing and moving services by their team ( hector and fransisco). Execution of all the maneuvers was excellent, fast and accurate and the commitment by them was something to remember. They gave their best and made my money count. They did not keep me waiting for the delivery and handed over all my belongings in great condition. To cut the long story short – I got the best move ever by All services movers.

Best movers.

Excellent. Everything went perfectly. The quality of the everything was perfect. These guys wrapped everything very professionally. I have used another moving service in the past. While they wrapped it, what they didn't do is pad it before they wrapped it. It was basically perfect. Everything they did was a great job. They're fast--everything was great. No damage whatsoever. I will definitely recommen them to all my friends and family.

Long-distance move from Arizona to Indiana

Very poor service.

This company provided the worse service ever. I have moved 8 times in the past and this was by far the most atrocious service ever. I only moved about 20 pieces of furniture and several boxes. Every piece had some damage, and some had significant damage. A vacuum was missing and I received a small box of parts that belonged to someone else. I was quoted a delivery time of a couple of weeks, it took one month to get my household goods. I called almost daily to ask about the progress and was told that it was on the way or a truck broke down. When I talked with the final delivery driver, he said it took him 3 days and he had picked up the household goods the day before he left. United management lied to me several times about where my things were in the process. They were difficult and argumentative with me and refused to call back in a timely manner. I would not recommend this company to anyone.

Great Move.

We recently used United Transportation Moving and Storage to move 30 miles from our apartment to our new home. During our search for a quality moving company we bid 3 groups one of which we had used previously, Ben Hur. We liked Ben Hur when we used them and felt comfortable with their name recognition but the customer service, attentiveness and persistence shown by Stephanie at United was a welcome difference from the generic representatives at other companies. The movers they sent were great; very careful with our things and they had great customer service and general people skills. In particular we noticed what a great attitude the movers had despite the hard work they were faced with. Any moving company can send a few strong guys to lift your things but for us United really distinguished themselves by having really great and genuinely nice people to interact with. Our move was particularly tough since they had to lug heavy furniture and boxes down a very difficult stairway and then over to their truck which they could not park right next to the building due to access issues. No complaints the whole time, very accomodative and always with good smiles. I will remember these movers and their names, which I could not say for other moving companies I have used in the past. Without a doubt we would not hesitate to use United Transportation Moving and Storage in the future.

Terrible company - SCAM!

This company uses every opportunity to scam you out of more money. Not only were the movers a whole day late in picking up our items (without ever notifying us of the delay), but later would not give us any information as to where our items were currently being held, when/where they were shipped and would not let us pick up our items from them. We had to get our shipment rerouted and without any documention, invoice or any notification from them of what they wanted to charge us, they held our property for ransom and told us we had to pay cash to get our belongings back (again without any invoice or documention as to what that amount was being charged for)! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY IF YOU WANT TO KEEP YOUR BELONGINGS!

Long-distance move from Arizona to Connecticut

Good Job.

I went with this company to avoid the name brand high priced movers. I had time flexibility so that was not an issue for me.  The contract listed clearly all the possible extra charges and I was of course concerned regarding what those charges would be by the end of the move. Ron worked with me even on his days off to answer my questions. I had some pieces of sculpture that needed special packing and care. Even paying extra for these services, I paid less than what I would have paid than if I had gone with a big brand name mover. I was very grateful to be saving so much money! Yes, they do work differently than name brand movers, and I am glad I took the time to shop around and ask questions. I spoke with other people at different times in addition to Ron in the company with other questions, and everyone responded well to my questions and requests. They got the job done well and I paid a lot less. I was also happy when the job was over that there were no additional charges. Just the tip that I had prepared in advance, that the movers well deserved. .

Long-distance move from California to Oregon

A Complete Nightmare.

This company is either out-and-out crooked, or just in need of coplete re-staffing. To begin, the dispatcher called us one night and asked if we'd be ready for pickup the next morning. This was TEN DAYS before the pick-up date we had settled on.  We were quoted $800, of course ended up paying over $2,000, and I had to go back and forth again and again with everybody at the company since they apparently have ZERO communication with each other.  The dispatcher even had the nerve to make ME call his divers to sort out THEIR mess. Then we get a call the day we are leaving, and they inform us that they are AT OUR NEW PLACE ALREADY! Then the dispatcher threatented to put out stuff in a storage unit somewhere until we got there and we'd have to pay for it, and on top of that, we would've had no way to get our desk home if they did put it in storage. Also, we got rid of everything and had only around 35 or so boxes that were 1.5 cubic feet, from Uhaul. Those boxes, along with a single roll top desk, took these movers 4 HOURS to move. You read correctly..4 HOURS. I used to deliver move furniture and me and co-worker could have done the pickup in like HALF AN HOUR. Some of my very important music files came up missing as well as a few other things. Okay, so, the final insult..our credit card was charged for 2 deposits or $200, neither of which were subtracted from the total, then some sort of "estimate" which was another $919.27, THEN ANOTHER $2,015.20. So they basically charged us around $3,400 for the move. When I confronted them with the bill, they had to "check it out" which took a week and I had to speak with people that were clearly passing me off onto one another and offered no answers.  They finally told me it was an honest mistake, but I'm still waiting for our refund!!  A COMPLETE NIGHTMARE STAY AWAY.

Long-distance move from Minnesota to California

Not on time, delayed delivery, missing/damaged items.

The movers kept pushing back the pick up time - 10am, 2pm, 4pm.  They arrived about 5pm, and in filing out the paperwork revealed that it could take from 3 to 21 business days from when we told them we were ready for delivery for them to actually deliver, but they hadn't told us that until the truck was there waiting to be filled and we had a flight leaving the next morning.  They finished packing the truck about 10:30pm.

We didn't know where we were going to live, so we had the company store our things for a couple months until we found an apartment.  It took them three weeks from when we moved into the apartment to deliver our things, and every time I called to ask when delivery would be, they would say "in two to three days," so I didn't want to buy anything in the interrim.  I was living in an empty apartment with a one-and-a-half year old, sitting on the floor and eating with a couple dishes left by the prior tennant.  If they had just been honest and said, "I don't know, but probably more than a week," I would have bought a folding table and chairs, at least!

Delivery day:  They arrived at 9pm in a HUGE truck in our little neighborhood.  We were on the second floor, and one flight of stairs was in the contract, but "No, that's interior stairs.  And a flight is seven steps.  And there's a long-carry charge."  Our apartment is the closest to the street. Uh, uh.  I made a fuss and they caved.

Some items were missing stickers, they tried to deliver a bike rack that wasn't ours, stickern numbers didn't line up with what the inventory said they were (e.g. "box" vs. "chair"), and I couldn't check everything off the inventory list because of the missing numbers.  But everything was out of the truck and in our apartment at midnight, and what could I do but sign that we'd received everything?

Upon unpacking, I realized one box (I still think it's only one) was missing, along with our vacuum cleaner, which wasn't even listed on the inventory.  My husband's desk had missing and bent pegs from the way the initial movers took it apart, the stand of one of our monitors was broken and won't stand up, and some significant dent-scratches were put in an antique table.

We have filed a claim and are waiting for it to be processed.

Long-distance move from California to Georgia

Very please with the move !!

I was very hesitant when the movers arrived because I heard a lot of horror stories from friends about the moving experience with other companies.  Although I felt a little confident because it was a referral from a friend, in the back of mind I was still worried.  They came in the morning exactly on time.  I spoke with them and expressed what I wanted moved and how and they were very responsive.  As they started loading I went to the room to box some personal things.  When I want back to the living room the couches, coffee tables, side table, entertainment center and TV were already professionally packaged and ready to load.  I was amazed how quickly and professional they were.  Moreover, they took apart my bed which was very complicated with lots of screws and bolts.  They worked very fast loading a huge truck full of boxes.  When we arrived at the destination they loaded everything quickly listening to where I wanted everything placed.   They also successfully assembled my complicated bed.  I was so pleased I can't explain   If you are moving I highly recommend them.  Do yourself a favor during the stressful time and get them to do your moving. .

Long-distance move from Nevada to California

Late & held furniture hostage until I paid more $$.

These people claimed to be professional movers with their own trucks and people. They are not - it is all a scam. They were suppose to arrive at 8am, they arrived at 1pm. They hired a local kid at the 7eleven on the way in and he ended up carrying most to the truck. The truck over heated on the move and we didn't arrive at our destination until 11:30pm. They wanted to unload the truck then, but we said no as it was too late and it was an appartment building - we didn't want to piss off our new neighbors on the first day! The next day, they held our stuff hostage. The dispatcher said that he would not have his guys unload unless I came up with another several hundred dollars. He claimed that we didn't tell him that we had stairs more stuff etc - but we had all of that in the contrat (we had them put it in).  I did not pay it and talked about all the things they did not do and he said - ok, we call it even.  Small victory, but I did have to spend the night on sleeping bags in my new place. In the end, they were $500 cheaper than a real professional mover, but it was not worth it. They were crap, I will use a real moving company in the future!!

Stolen wedding ring.

They gave me a good deal and came to my house in short notice. The drivers and dispatchers contacted me on personal phones and had to ask if I was a customer when I returned their calls. The sales lady Natalie was very nice and told me the truck was leaving for CA the next day, so I could expect my stuff to be delivered very soon. They held my stuff for 13 days. Upon delivery a gold diamond wedding ring was the only missing item from a jewelry box containing much lesser value items.

Easy and no problems.

I had a great experience with this company.  Everything was on time and the staff was friendly.  The estimate was accurate and I didn't have to deal with any unfair costs I wasn't aware of.  They were honest with me and got my move completed with limited stress.  The salesperson, Ben, was quick with the quote and the movers themselves were nice and got everything in and out fast and efficiently.  These guys are one of the better companies I've dealt with in the past couple years.  Highly recommended.

Long-distance move from Arizona to California

What a marvelous company.

United Transportation moving and storage was a great choice when I found them online I didn't know how I was going to move until I found them. Their charge was really adequate, the quote came out to be exactly what I expected, but of course it cost me something but not exaggeratedly like the other moving companies were charging me. The work was done professional and the pick up was also on time, I really expected them to live up to their name and they actually succeeded. The day of the arrival I was awaken by a call and it was the movers asking if I was home, as I checked the time I noticed they were outside, it was 10:00 am and I overslept, I didn't really think they were going to arrive in time. I mean really who actually moves someones belongings in 2 days from Arizona to California? Well they managed to do it as it said in the quote. Everything was carefully dropped off and all of my belongings were still packed up and wrapped. Not a single scratch was made, it's like if these guys really put their job on the line. Therefore I will be hiring United Transportation Moving and Storage for the next move I have.

Terrible business.

Writing my second review..I am an angry woman! The day this company was supposed to move my belongings cross country they never showed, so I called them and kept being told they were coming but the car broke down. After 12 hours of this game I choose another moving company. Now they won't give me my deposit because according to Monica, they aren't responsible for things that are an "act of god." Monica, an act of God is a tornado.. you not maintaining your vehicles is on YOU. Unless God decided to make you need an oil change. They could've made this easy and just refund my my deposit but instead they're going to make this much harder on themselves.

Long-distance move from California to Washington

Worst Experience Imaginable.

Estimate was exactly 1/2 of what they showed up and wanted. Out of 9 major pieces of furniture (I had a one bedroom place) 5 arrived seriously damaged. They do not promptly return phone calls once your stuff is on the road. The verbal promise of "99.9%" delivery time was 4-5 days. It took 9. Each time I called and got hold of anyone (sometimes after 20 minutes on hold) they told me they could not give me any indication of when my truck would arrive. BUT if I paid them more money for a guarentee arrival! They claimed everyone else on my trip was "ahead of me in line because they paid for guarentee" That is extortion. On every level they have been unethical and possibly criminal. After a week of my complaints they offered me a $150 compensation ON THE CONDITION that I remove my totally honest review from Yelp.  The dispatcher (whom I assume is also the owner) is beyond rude. "What do you want?" was how he addressed me from my first conversation with him.  Each of the employees told me the other employees had misled me and spoken out of turn. They are a disaster and I feel completely violated by the company. I will be uploading images of my damaged/unusable bed, couch, bench, heating lamp, and wardrobe boxes (soaked, mysteriously in vinegar!) Kim, at "Customer Service", did not return 2 phone calls and an email request for the claim's department. We had to keep calling today just to get hold of anyone at all.  HIGHEST WARNING! DO NOT BOOK WITH THEM! .
