Long-distance move from Medford, NJ to Snellville, GA

Horrible experience: stay away

After changing the agreed upon price upon arrival, they told me I'd lose deposit unless we paid additional momoneyafter approximately 30 calls and emails had to be made to get my original price. Driver was quoted as"i have never see them change the price like this." Sales rep reported, " I never knew there were extra charges after working here for 10 years."

Part of the delivery was lost, and after paying for the extra service, the piano was not reassembled as agreed upon. We had to pay additional money to have it put together to a different company. Now we have to pay to have the lost piece hand made too. Very rude, deceitful, trouble with communication. Stay away from these movers.

Local move within Kansas

Move from Rockville MD to Lenexa KS.

I contacted Sunflower Transit for my move. I am a retired military officer and have moved worldwide. The move done by Sunflower can best be described as the move from hell. Another company got involved and that company was All In One. My move was not completed, my goods were first dumped on my driveway then moved to the garage. Items were totally destroyed and the loss of items never delivered totals nearly $12,000. Sunflower Transit has been contacted many times and have refused to return all calls and when All In One was contacted multiple times they denied even knowing who I was or that they had a delivery in Lenexa Kansas. If you want a really screwed up move then deal with this company. I am out over $2000 for the move and nearly $12,000 in loses.

Official company response

Hi Mike,
Thank you for your comment after finishing all the interviews; the driver has you on a cell phone video calling him a racial slur. The term you used was "Sand N**" Now that being said we have given his attorney all of our internal findings and reports. Thank you again for leaving this review so we could find out about the video and how you treated the crew. Also, when leaving a review, please make sure you give factual information and not just the fabricated loses.

Worked Out.

At First I was Skeptical because of the reviews I saw on this website but once they showed me the Kansas move was refunded in order to make it right I decided to book my move with them. I am so glad I decided to do that they told me exactly how to fill out the paper work so I wouldn't have a delay in my delivery. I followed their suggestions fully and i'm so glad I did. Well done gentlemen and Jill I will be referring all my clients to you as well.

Long-distance move from Pasadena, MD to West Palm Beach, FL

Price gouging/scamming

I contacted Sunflower Transit 5/21 for my move from MD to FL. I was quoted by Jeff $1500. Unknown to me, they brokered with A Plus (should be E-) Van Lines in NJ. They then quoted me $3800. On 6/15/21 the movers showed up, and said the total cost would be even more. I ended up paying $4801 and even got rid of bins and other items to reduce the price, but was still charged more. They know they have you because you either pay or don't have your items moved. The driver said 3-14 days I would receive my items. I called Jennifer Davis, emailed her to get a delivery date to no avail. The driver (Ramon) called me the end of July and said he would deliver my belongings. His truck broke down, delaying yet another week. Finally 8/2/21 my items were delivered. However, many items were damaged or broken and items were missing. This is my first and very last time I will ever hire a moving company. I had to use retirement money to pay for this move. Neither company takes my calls now. The only response I get from A Plus (E Minus) is "file a claim". at $.60 a pound, that is nothing! Please beware!

Long-distance move from Covington, KY to San Francisco, CA

Do NOT depend on this company.

This company did offer us a lower estimate than others, however it is 100% worth paying more money up front (Sunflower ends up charging you for any little thing on the spot anyway) We are using them to move from Cincinnati to San Francisco. We were lied to straight up by the salesperson that sold us the moving truck and movers. They said they would deliver our furniture from 10-14 days after they picked up our stuff. However, we are on day 24 without furniture and are told we should get in within 7 days!! Their customer service person that we spoke to has no reasoning for it and has not discounted or helped us in any way. We were completely scammed by this company and I would NEVER recommend using their services.

Move KS to NC.

Hired Sunflower Transit for the move of my household goods, items were picked up December 26, 2019. As of today 2/27/2020 I do not have them. They are actually in KS still in a storage unit which has not been paid for and is was going to go to Auction, all my life belongings. I have spent over 2,002 dollars paid to have my items moved. Sunflower Transit said they are not liable and will not refund my money. It is all a scam! Do NOT use this company. I filed a DOT complaint and filed a police report, as well as the BBB.

Long-distance move from Philadelphia, PA to Charleston, SC

Scam Artists.

I was quoted at $2100 for the move of a studio apartment in PA to SC by SunFlower Transit. They sent my quote to a third party, namely CR 7 Movers. Despite my many efforts to have an accurate inventory (and in turn accurate quote), I ended up paying over $3800 when all was said and done. SunFlower Transit initially led me to believe that they would follow up with CR 7 and help facilitate some sort of refund seeing as how I provided exactly my inventory and even accommodated the movers by having everything set to go a day earlier than I had requested. However, they did not help facilitate a resolution. I can't fathom that their oversight in providing a reasonable quote is not somehow deliberate. This kind of practice and dishonesty is shameful and its disgusting that they would conduct business in this manner. Please, go with a more reputable service. It is NOT worth the time, money or frustration.

My rep Chris was great. I have never moved before and I was just looking for a company that could work with my time frame. After he walked me through the contract and showing me everything in writing I felt comfortable using Sunflower. I am so glad I did. My belongings go there the day and time Andy told me. Sunflower Transit completes our move earlier this month, August 2020. We were very concerned about the timing of our move with this Covid-19. Jeff assures is that we would be happy and I am. No problems at all, on time (early), nothing broken (lots of breakable items), truly efficient packing, very professional. I recommend Sunflower Transit to anyone needing an out if state move.

They are Crooks.

DO NOT TRUST THEM. I gave them an accurate inventory with dimensions and even reached out to them twice to update the items. they quoted a price of $1571 and when the movers got here they told me my job was WAY UNDERBID and I was charged over $2400. I had no choice as I had to be out of my apartment in two days and was moving cross country. I feel completely swindled and will be reporting this to the DOT.

Long-distance move from Ohio to Florida

OH to FL.

I used Sunflower Transit for my move from Cincinnati, Ohio to Wellington, FL and I was extremely impressed. This was my fourth time doing a long distance move and by far my best experience. They were great with communication to myself and the movers. If I called and had questions, they were answered professionally and in a timely manner. I left several after hours voicemails leading up to my moving day and they always called back with answers. I can’t say the same with my previous experiences. If I ever need to move again, I know who I’m giving my business to. Great job and thank you again!

Long-distance move from Pittsburgh, PA to Jensen Beach, FL

They have no long distance drivers.

Jeff at Sunflower was my initial contact. After numerous attempts to get a quote, Jill finally called me back. She was attentive and caring until she got paid. I am still waiting for my belongings. When I call the drivers number who packed my stuff I am told they have no drivers to bring me my furniture. I gave them $300 then the driver $700 and they want me to pay an additional $700 for less than 600 cubic feet. But.. my stuff is being held because they don't even have a driver to bring it to Florida. Jill told me it wasn't her problem. So. I will call the BBB and my congressmen and whoever will listen. It may not be much but they have everything I own and my money. Never use this company.

Horrible.

What ever you do don’t hire these people the mover shows up and says it’s going to be $800 more, they did a good job of loading my items into truck but when my items arrived every box was crushed they off loaded my items into another truck multiple items broken, my son had to back the truck up as they could not do this. Put a hole in my wall a vase that was not ours and it was broken. Honest to god I have never seen anything like this.

Read Before You Pay

If you read this and continue to go with Sunflower, you deserve what you will most definitely get. I am not alone; read the other reviews. They are brokers who will do anything and be anything for you until you give the a credit card number. Then, you are more worthless to them than dirt on the bottom of your shoe. They gave us a quote and scheduled a time. Super friendly. Super nice. Then they got our deposit. They scheduled the movers to show up a couple days too early. Jill, once a nice person, basically told us if we cancel, we lose our deposit.

The movers came- Western Van Lines. Our initial quote was about $7500. They walked through the house on moving day and said the maximum we would pay is about $8500 and the driver said we'd receive the stuff within 7-10 days. Once everything was loaded onto the van and it was way too late to back out, we were given a bill for $9992. Nice con guys. Now, they have our stuff and we are completely in their mercy.

We were planning on driving across the country and seeing some sights. When do we get the chance to do that? Well, we cancelled those plans because the guy was so convincing that our stuff would beat us, a family with 4 young children, to our destination. "Shoot," Vick the driver said, "You might want to have somebody on call to receive your things if you don't get there on time." Yep, we better get moving.

While the weeks went bye, we were told over and over again that it doesn't matter what the driver promises, the contract says that they have 21 business days from the time they set the original delivery date. That's not 21 days from taking your things, that 21 days from the original estimated delivery. When we called Sunflower, as the broker who can threaten never to give business to Western Van Lines, they told us we were probably going to write a bad review so they were absolutely unwilling to help us. Jill said, and this is a direct quote, "Why should I help you?" Literally, word for word, "why should I help you?" And then went on berating my wife for having the audacity to ask for help. She didn't care my kids couldn't go to school because they had our documents, that we slept on air mattresses for 6 weeks or had only the clothes we brought to drive in. She only cared that us calling did not make her more money. Not the person she was before she got our deposit.

We got our stuff 31 business days after the scheduled delivery. That was almost 7 weeks. We missed Halloween and Thanksgiving. Were we entitled to our massive $30 a day for being 10 business days late? Nope. Somehow the contract keeps them from ever having to pay even that measly amount.

Did everything arrive? Was any of it damaged? Most of it got here. We are missing a few minor things that we don't care about. There is some damage to our pictures and furniture, but we are able to hide the damage pretty well. Did we get other people's things? Yes, yes we did. We sent it back with them, but the chances of the other families getting there things are low.

All in all, of the 7 cross state moves I have had, Sunflower gave us, by a margin so big you can't grasp it, the worst experience I've ever had. Moving never goes smoothly, but it felt, to me, that Jill and Sunflower and Western Van Lines wanted things to be as miserable as they could possibly make them. So again, if you are reading this and still go with this terrible company, you deserve what you get.

Stay away if you want to save yourself and your family a ton of stress

Stay away if you want to save yourself and your family a ton of stress, agony and frustration. On the surface the company seems legit and trustworthy but the reality is that these people are using an organized front to run a scam that relies on legal loopholes and contracts that are written in favor of the moving company. They use fake reviews to maintain their rating, just look at the recent reviews, no context, no details just random 5 starts with one line reviews. I will give a short summary and go in details, feel free to respond to the comment if you want to know more about my experience and in general what to look out for when working with companies like this.

Summary - Hired Sunflower to move from WA to CA. Andy & Luis reached out after I did an online query on some website. Andy assured me that I will not have to worry about the move and they will be there for support throughout the move. I was told the carrier is their own West coast partner and not some random company and they even sent me email receipts for proof. Day of move a totally different carrier shows up (Northwest Relocations, google them to see the horror), my deposit money is on the hook and I was out of options and had to proceed with the move even though Sunflower lied about the carrier. They know this, that once you pay them the first part of the payment, after 72 hrs you can't refund it and the carriers show up for the move after a week at least. They use this as leverage over you so even if you send back the carrier on the day of the move, they still may thousands on the initial deposit.

Once the carrier came, the folks I spoke to during the booking, they disappeared. Andy never came on the call to answer for the mess of a service they ended up giving me and I was told that my "case" is now with operations and that Andy is from Sales. After the movers left, this is when Sunflower started to show their real color. In the name of updates, I got template responses about "we will let you know". The carrier contact details they shared with me never worked. If you search NW relocations, you will see what kind of company Sunflower does business with. I could never get in touch with the carrier and Sunflower kept fading away in their communication as well to the point they started threatening that they will switch me to email only communication. Claire is the one who was handling my operations case and like others they are all trained in diversion and providing no value updates to the customer.

For 30 days, I had no update on where my belongings are and when will they be delivered. Sunflower had the working contact details of the carrier but never shared it with me saying it's policy they can't share the details, which makes no sense at all. They did share contact details but they were bogus.

I had to resort to filing a police complain in WA and hire a lawyer in Florida and compose a detailed complaints against Sunflower and file it to multiple bodies like FMCSA and event sent a complain to Attorney general in Florida. After constant pushing and going through the stress and frustration of more than a month, I finally got my things but I would be an idiot if I ever work with Sunflower or recommend anyone to work with them. Turn away while you can, they are really good at what they do, scamming people.

Worst experience of my life

Hired in Febuary to pick up my things in CA to drop of in MN and their driver cancelled the day he was expected to pick up on July 26. Had to call multiple times that day to even find out he had cancelled. Requested a refund a few days later about July 28th since I had decided to move my own things due to their incompetence. It has almost a month and have not received a refund and only recieve run around when calling to find out where the refund process is.

Long-distance move from Allen Park, MI to Knoxville, TN

Does not follow agreed upon schedules

After speaking with Jeff, him consulting with dispatch not once but twice that the dates were possible & there “wouldn’t be any problems,” we paid a deposit for services to be moved from MI to TN on 9/30 for our items to be picked up 10/7 with delivery typically within 24-48 hours, guaranteed no later than the morning of 10/11 as we made it well known a toolbox getting shipped is needed to begin working on the 11th. We were told by Jeff we’d receive a call the same day with a guaranteed date and time for pickup, didn’t receive it until the following day, told we’d have a pickup date now of 10/7 OR 10/8. The 7th came, no contact, we called, that afternoon they finally returned the call that the driver was delayed, pickup wouldn’t be until Saturday, the 9th between 9am-12pm, she’d call back with a confirmation of the exact time in 1-2 hours. We figured since it’s supposed to be delivered within 24-48 hours, no later than the 11th, it’d be ok, we could work around the possible few hours delay of getting the toolbox off the truck. Never received that confirmation call either. Saturday came, 9-12 went by, we started trying to reach out to find out what was going on. We left voicemails at 3 different numbers, spoke to one person who claimed he was just a “weekend guy” & didn’t know anything about any of the contracts, he’d send an email and someone would get back to us. We didn’t hear anything. Around 4, we filed a discrepancy with the our credit company since our contract had not been fulfilled, services were not rendered as agreed upon, and we hadn’t been able to reach anyone and our time was running out. About 20 minutes later after our bank stated we should have the funds refunded within 48 hours, our driver called to notify us that due to circumstances & another job he picked up, he wouldn’t be in MI by tomorrow, that the earliest he could be here was Monday morning. We told him we couldn’t wait that long, it wasn’t what we agreed to. He said he didn’t know what we were talking about, he was our original driver and had told the company the soonest he could be here was Sunday morning. I said it isn’t what we were told or agreed to & he notified us he’d call the company to let them know we wanted to cancel and get a refund. Not 20 minutes later, we received a call from Sunflower stating they understood our frustration, but they spoke to dispatch and our driver would be arriving between 3pm-6pm the following day, Sunday. I told her again that we couldn’t wait that long, my fiancé has to start work Monday and needs the toolbox that was to be moved on the truck. She claimed it was the first they heard of that. She tried telling me the original pickup date that was contracted was the 10/8, that she called on 10/7 to notify us the pickup date was delayed and wouldn’t be until Saturday or Sunday, she’d call back in an hour or two to confirm the time and date. She then claimed she told the carrier to call us with a date/time confirmation & admitted she did not call us back as promised. You could hear a man in the background coaching her on what to say to us on the phone while all this is going on. Then she says she just spoke to the actual driver, not dispatch, (how she was on the phone having two different conversations with two different people at the same time is beyond me) and the driver is saying he told us he’d be there between 3pm and 6pm. She believes what we’re saying, and that we’re not lying, but it’s what she’s being told and can’t we work with that. I again said no, again explained why, stated we had to call multiple times trying to reach someone, and just wanted a refund and because we couldn’t reach anyone to discuss that, we filed a discrepancy charge since services were not rendered as agreed upon. She then told me the bank will require we try to work it out with them first and because we are refusing to allow their driver whom is already en route to our location, we are not eligible for a refund. I explained they did not meet the agreed upon terms in the contract, we expressed a need for a service by a specific date, and that service was not met. We already filed a dispute so arguing over it on the phone was a moot point because we just couldn’t keep pushing our pickup day later which then pushed the delivery day. I was then informed to look at section 12 of the contract, that dates/times are estimates only, they are not held responsible, any & all information would be handed to their legal team, & all further contact would be made via email only. I said that’s good cuz at least then everything they say is in writing and they can’t contradict themselves any more & she hung up on me.

We were never told they were moving brokers and that they subcontract jobs out. I DO NOT recommend using this “service” unless you don’t have any time table requirements & don’t mind getting multiple stories as to why they are not responsible so they can’t, won’t, or don’t have to do their job they were hired for.

My move

I booked my move from NY-FL with James who did a fantastic job at finding out what it was that I was looking for. The communication from the customer service department was STELLAR. The carrier A-PLUS took care of my things as if it was their own. The main guy did increase my charge, however, Sunflower was able to get the charged waived. I've moved multiple times before - with a carrier directly and with a broker. I will continue to use Sunflower or even the carrier for any future moves!

Well Done!

The quote they gave me was far better than anyone else in the region, and the level of care was unmatched. I have a lot of important furniture that has been passed down through generations in my family. Be Cautious of this company

I would give these people a negative if I could. we moved from Wisconsin to Oregon last year and this place truly ripped us off by demanding more money (holding our belongings ransom until we gave them another 1500 in cash) and damaged a lot of our belongings. The review I left then is now gone, the response I received was just like the military guys below which was a huge lie about me as well. I promise you that that guy never used any foul language at all. This seems to be Sunflower's response to anyone that they rip off, they try to play the victims although they are the cons.....
