Safe Ship Moving Services

This is not a reputable company and you should avoid them. They offer an “expedited” service for you to schedule the exact date your delivery but it’s a total scam. They are a broker that subcontracts to other movers and you have no idea who is in possession of your belongings. I paid an extra $1000 and my stuff was not delivered on the specified date. They require Zelle or cash at pickup and drop off and add in bogus charges to drain your wallet. If this company is truly owned and operated by veterans, they should be ashamed of themselves for such dishonorable behavior.

Unreliable and Unprofessional

I had a disappointing experience with Safe Ship Moving Services during my recent move on August 26th, 2024. I was quoted $5,400 for a three-bedroom apartment, but the final cost ballooned to $6,200 with hidden fees. The crew arrived three hours late, and they were careless with my belongings—several items were damaged, including a family heirloom. Communication was poor, and I was left feeling frustrated and unsupported. I would not recommend Safe Ship Moving Services.

Im writing this review only halfway through my move—the truck came just this morning and to pick up all my things. Cesar, Javier, and Rolando from Cobra Van Lines were fantastic! They were friendly, careful, and crazy efficient, even able to squeeze in a few extra items within my cubic feet allotment when I asked. While I haven’t experienced drop off yet, I felt the Cobra Van Lines team (who SafeShip contracted) deserved some love for the pick up.

Great job moving to a house and a storage unit

I just moved into a smaller house and had a lot of stuff, so I moved some of my stuff into a storage unit and the rest to my new house. The movers from Safe Ship Moving Services did a great job! They planned the move well so we had the stuff going to the house in the front of the truck and the stuff going to the storage unit at the end of the truck, so we could unload to the storage unit first. They were polite and managed to move big items that I did not think could be moved.

Beware...

When I first contacted them, everything went well. They quoted a price for what I had listed, and even gave me a military discount. The price was very reasonable...even less than I had hoped for. They indicated that price could change somewhat if the my list changed, or if the furniture was heavy or bulky. Fair enough. When it came nearer the move, I indicated a list change. They then added an additional monies for the change, bringing the total for the move to $5,333.22. Now it's getting into the neighborhood of what other movers would charge. I was informed that there could be an additional charge for heavy or bulky furniture. So, I figure an additional two or three hundred dollars wouldn't be too bad...should the occasion arise. However, when the movers got there, they said they required an additional $1,535.08. That brought the total to $6,868.30. They did an acceptable job...very minor scratches and wall damage...the usual from movers. They also happen to mention that they were from St. Louis. We live in the Des Moines area. Someone has to pay for their travel expenses. Is that what the extra $1,535 was for? We are on Social Security and have to budget our money very carefully. So that extra bill hit us pretty hard. But it's a little late to switch movers when they are already in the apartment, ready to go. I'm not saying "don't use them". BUT I AM SAYING "beware of any movers that don't physically come to your home and price things"!! You may be in for a shock!

Beware

Booking with safe Ship Moving Services was one of the worst decisions we've ever made. The entire experience was a disaster, marked by unprofessionalism, dishonesty and a complete lack of accountability. Safe Ships' customer service is non-existent. They will say whatever it takes to book with them quickly, but once the contract is signed, they refuse to provide any assistance or take responsibility for their actions-or the actions of the movers that they hire.

Our nightmare began when they could not give us an estimated time of arrival for over a month. Then driver they sent arrived several weeks late, with just 45 minutes notice. To make matters worse, he showed up alone, demanded cash upfront before opening the truck. Once he did, we were horrified to see that our belongings were not organized or properly tagged. Everything was carelessly packed and strewn around the truck with other items being moved. We had to move most of the items ourselves.

The situation became even more alarming when the driver drove off with a large box containing our clothing and personal items. We called him immediately and he would not answer. We called Safe Ship immediately as well to report the incident but their response was utterly useless. They provided no assistance and made no effort to recover our belongings. To this day, those items still remain missing.

Unfortunately, that was not the end of the problems. Half of the items they moved arrived damaged or were missing entirely. Safe Ship has refused to take any responsibility, despite our persistent efforts to resolve the issue over the last six months. Every time we contacted them, we were met with indifference and excuses.

Adding insult to injury, the moving company that Safe Ship hired and highly recommended (on a recorded line) has numerous complaints against them as well. It is clear that Safe Ship has no concern for the quality or professionalism of the companies they contract with, leaving customers to deal with the fallout of their poor choices. If you value your belongings and your peace of mind, no not book with Safe Ship.

Great People, Easy Process

Overall the process was very easy & everyone was helpful throughout the whole move. I had my boxes ready, but the movers made sure to double tape, they padded blanket all my furniture(& taped over top of that for a nice easy move). They went above & beyond. They even called to let me know they were 15 minutes away from my storage unit & were within their scheduled time of arrival. The front desk was also very helpful from arrow moving services, through this whole move I’ve been updated & made sure my things get moved in a timely & reasonable manner., Safe ship handled my move but arrow did the moving!

Service was good but they were not able to take everything that was listed on the original list of items. It is challenging I think for Safe Ship to get an accurate cubic measurement of goods even though I was quite descriptive of all items. When the contractors showed up the took some measurements and found that Safe Ship grossly underestimated what we had.

Unreliable Service

I had a very disappointing experience with Safe Ship Moving Services. They were unprofessional and unreliable throughout the entire process. First, they missed the scheduled pickup date without notifying me, which was incredibly frustrating. When they finally arrived, they rushed through packing and mishandled my belongings. Several items arrived damaged, and it was clear they didn’t handle anything with care. To make matters worse, their customer service was unresponsive when I tried to address these issues. I wouldn’t recommend Safe Ship Moving Services to anyone looking for a reliable and trustworthy moving company.

BEST EXPERIENCE

I was shopping around for different moving companies that were reasonably priced and yet still provided quality service. Safe Ship was all that and more. Their customer service was incredible. Jacob was such a help and was genuinely helpful when it came to us making the transition in moving states. The document signing process was seamless and quick. Everything was pretty straight forward and explained in a timely manner.The overall booking experience was positive and I will definitely be recommending anyone in need of moving services. Worst company!

Avoid Safe Ship Moving Company at All Costs

My experience with Safe Ship Moving Company has been an absolute nightmare from start to finish. They market themselves as a reliable broker, but in reality, their service is deceptive, unprofessional, and exploitative. Here’s why:

Manipulative Estimates: I originally had a signed contract with PODS for $6,000 but was persuaded by Safe Ship to switch after being promised a "special discount." This so-called discount turned out to be fraudulent—my estimate was manipulated by removing key items from the list to keep the quote artificially low. When the truth came to light, I was already bound by their contract, leaving me no choice but to proceed and ultimately pay over $10,000.

Last-Minute Price Hike: Days before the move, they claimed my volume estimate had increased and inflated the price. I was pressured to accept the new estimate or risk losing my initial deposit and being left without movers, jeopardizing my ability to relocate for a new job.

Horrific Delivery Experience: The movers arrived late, unprepared, and with the wrong truck, forcing me to do much of the work myself, including loading and unloading my car. They also charged me extra for "long-range delivery," a completely avoidable situation caused by their failure to communicate or plan properly.

Damaged and Missing Items: Upon delivery, I found several pieces of furniture damaged, plastic bins destroyed, and part of my shipment missing—including a mattress and boxes that the movers promised to deliver later. To top it off, I ended up with an iron table that wasn’t even mine.

Theft of Personal Belongings: Most infuriatingly, some of my personal items that were in my apartment—not part of the move—were stolen during the delivery. A drone worth $1,000, portable speakers worth $200, and cash hidden in a drawer were taken. A plastic bin had been suspiciously opened, making it clear that one of the movers was deliberately looking for valuables. Safe Ship has denied all responsibility for the theft, despite these actions being carried out by movers they contracted.

Zero Accountability: Safe Ship claims they "never had physical possession" of my items and refuses to take any responsibility for the actions of their subcontractors. Their emails show a complete lack of remorse, support, or willingness to resolve these issues. They seem to view their role as simply taking your money and then washing their hands of everything else.

This company preys on vulnerable customers, exploiting the stress and urgency of moving to inflate costs and avoid accountability. They create a façade of professionalism but are nothing more than professional scammers. I wouldn’t wish this experience on anyone.

If you value your time, money, and sanity, DO NOT USE SAFE SHIP MOVING COMPANY. I am pursuing all possible legal avenues to seek reparations, and I strongly urge anyone else scammed by this company to do the same. Safe Ship’s business practices are unacceptable and must be stopped.

We urge you to file a claim with the carrier, as they are required to provide specific coverage for your belongings during transit. While we understand the sense of injustice when items are damaged or lost, it’s vital to address these issues directly with the carrier handling the move, as they are ultimately responsible.

As for allegations of high-pressure tactics, we absolutely do not condone such behavior from anyone within our organization. If you felt pressured or misled, we would like to investigate this matter thoroughly. Customer trust is paramount, and any instance of miscommunication or improper conduct is taken very seriously.

Finally, we regret if you felt our team lacked empathy or accountability in resolving your concerns. Cross Country Move
