S & M Relo LLC

Absolutely the worst, most unprofessional company I have ever used for any service, bar none. Please do your research and demand that if you work with a broker that they disclose who will actually be moving your goods, or fall prey to a fly-by-night company like this. I hired a broker which in turn contracted S&M Relo to move my goods from Minnesota to Kansas. I was never told who would actually be picking up my household items and when these guys showed up I immediately understood why. First off I was contacted by their "dispatch office" to confirm a pick-up time of 12pm-2pm on a Saturday in early June 2021 - lady on the phone assured me that was a guaranteed pick-up window. Day of pick-up arrives, and 2 pm passes - no call; 3pm passes - no call; 4pm passed - no call; finally I called the driver who said they were still an hour away, so in the end they showed up 3 hours late, in a Penske rental truck, with no excuse or apology. Then upon their crew walking through the house, I get a call from their boss saying my final total was changed from $3,500 to $5,700 after he claimed my gross volume was double what was quoted - I had added a couple pieces of furniture and boxes during packing, but no way on earth did that come to double my whole inventory! Complete BS. After arguing with him for about 45 minutes he proceeded to give me a very condescending and snide speech about "how long he'd been doing this" and told me that the broker just did that crappy of a job estimating my inventory - all in all his point was they're always justified in asking for more money because the broker's estimates are never accurate. Right there I could tell that was their standard line they give to everyone (if you don't believe me read the countless other reviews, almost every one says S&M jacked up their total bill at pickup). But not wanting to cancel, having waited on this pick-up for 3 months, I paid the price increase. Upon loading I also witnessed 2 of their guys tossing around boxes of mine I had clearly labeled "fragile". And after all that least I could expect my delivery in the contract-guaranteed 30 business day window right? Wrong. I was left sitting in my new empty apartment all the way until August 18th before I finally got notified of delivery. I had also called their "customer service" desk about a dozen times during that 2 month period trying to get an update and nobody every had any information. There was clearly no communication between anyone in this company. They also verbally assured me 3 times that my items would be delivered in the window or they would give me a per-diem refund. On delivery I had 2 tables broken, and 1 lost box of misc. goods. All my boxes were caved in which I could tell meant they took no handling care whatsoever. When I called to speak to a manager with explanation for the delay and to talk through my delay compensation, the woman taking my call flat-out refused to let me speak to any sort of supervisor - clearly having been coached to do so to keep from having to answer for complaints and performance. When I asked about my lost box they just told me to file a claim - which I understood to mean they flat-out gave up looking for it or they just didn't care. I found out only from my broker that they worded their contract such that I could not get any per-diem compensation for delay unless you purchased their "premium package" which they never explained to me at pick-up. At the end I received $90 for probably a couple hundred in lost goods and nearly a month overrun on schedule. Absolutely unacceptable and pathetic. It's unbelievable these guys are allowed to operate as a certified mover. Trash company, unethical and unprofessional employees, and pathetic service. Avoid at all costs.

Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $5700

I didn’t choose to use these crooks. I apparently used a broker who didn’t disclose to me that they were A a broker, and didn’t disclose who they worked with or assigning my move to. I was quoted 1700 for the whole transition to move from Raleigh to HTX. When the mover arrived they lied by saying I had more stuff than was initially listed (I had everything to the box) and jumped the pickup price to 2500 then delivery would be an additional 1500 on top of my 920 deposit.

They lost about 6 boxes, several table legs and a vacuum. They ended up subcontracting my delivery to a boiler room company and agreed (on my behalf unbeknownst to me) that I would pay an additional fee of 150 for the delivery drivers to use the elevator or 150 per flight of stairs.

Their boss demanded I pay the 1500 by Zelle since he could not pay the drivers which I told him was not my issue.

Filed a complaint with the BBB which they ignored all requests from them and filed a complaint with the DOT.

I filed an insurance claim to take .60 cents on the dollar for the value of items, for which they decided to ignore all together and give me a good faith offer of $50. They can go fuck themselves with that offer and decided to update my complaint with the DOT to include that they refused to payout the insurance claim which that will be notated for the agent in charge of my case.

Started out amazing with National Express Moving, thought they really cared. I have never moved a household long distance. Boy did they see me coming a mile away. Booked my space 3 months ahead of time $2800. They called the day before the movers were to arrive and said “oh, you have boxes as well as furniture?” Well, yes!!! Like I said originally, moving the whole household. That $2800 went up to $5600. “You’ll need more space.” Between a rock and a hard place there. Had no choice but to pay. Then it just got better……NOT!! The mover didn’t show up when scheduled. No call from anyone and no return calls. Ghosted by NEM. Found out they are just brokers making a sale. They lie just to get a sale, then dump you onto a sub contractor. Found out that S&M Relo was the actual mover. I finally was able to get ahold of someone there the day after the no show. They had claimed to have called and left a message. Turns out they had called another customer in another state. Still gets better, movers show up and claim I have too much stuff and need to pay for more space. WTF!!!! After 2.5hrs and them taking a video of my stuff the price went up again!!! $11,600 more!!! I’m stuck now. The house is closing and I have to get my stuff out. I could back out but lose $2k I had already paid. What a SCAM!! We had no choice but to cough up $5200 right then and another $6600 upon delivery. Which, by the way, it’s been two weeks and no one can tell me where my things are. We have no furniture, sleeping on the floor, living with the bare basics. Absolutely beside myself. I have since realized that with the stress of all that mess, I didn’t get a copy of the inventory. I also was under severe pressure to sign the new contract. Not sure exactly what was signed. I know now that if we ever have to do this again, go with an actual moving company that will come out to assess your move to give you a fair and honest rate. This was complete bs and I’m concerned I’ll never see my stuff again.

Was told 7-10 days. Still no idea after 2 weeks.

Completely rude and unprofessional to deal with. They acted like it was my fault National Express Movers had sold me too low. I honestly had no idea. The guys who came to load said this happens all the time. I have to wonder who gets the kick back.

After reading other reviews I have a great concern that I will not see a good portion of my things as well as broken. They’ll be dealing with my husband on the receiving end. I just can’t wait to see how that rolls. Completely unacceptable business practice.

Move size: 4 Bedroom Home Service cost: $14000

1. I did not know the role S & M Relo LLC played in the moving service until the day of pickup. I was working with A ON TIME MOVING LLC before that time. But S & M Relo knows the exact role it plays by working with A ON TIME.

2. The delivery was delayed. The customer service people were extremely impatient and often rude when I called to inquire additional information.

3. The day before the delivery, I was informed that a shuttle truck has to be used to transfer my moving items to due to the fact that the original moving truck cannot be parked on the street, which is additional $600.

4. Though there is elevator in the Apt complex, the cost for steps from the shuttle to 3rd floor Apt had to be paid which is another $300.

5. All the additional costs were not upfront and left one with no choices but to pay because otherwise, the items will not be delivered and the customers have to pay all the storage fees should this happens.

6. If one wants to file the claims for delay or damages, this link is provided: movingclaims.net. I filed claim for the delay in delivery. After 3 rounds of signing each step to make sure one has to accept whatever the settlement that is offered, $50 was the final compensation.

7. To summarize, there appears a scam systematically integrated and established in the moving service, from A ON Time Moving, LLC (that contracts S & M Relo and others) giving business to S & M Relo (who has total control over the customers for the costs they want impose on the customers, as often times customers are cornered into the situations in which they do not have the time or resources to opt out of), and finally covered by movingclaims.net which ensures there is least risk for the moving companies (A ON TIME MOVING LLC + S & M Relo LLC) and minimal symbolic compensations for the customers in the end.

8. Conclusion: the chain described in the summary has to be broken and the businesses have to be taken down so that customers will not be victimized by paying so much more money for bad services as well as agonizing over them at many steps in the process.

My mother was moving long distance from state to state once she looked up moving company’s than the calls went out of the roof. For someone who has never used a moving company before we did not know hat questions to ask such as will you be contracting the move to another company, so if I get to my destination how long will it take before receiving my stuff and make them be specific because they will not tell you how it depends on if a load is going in your direction, also if they have a driver. Make sure that you have a copy of your paperwork once they arrive because they will have other loads in their 18 wheeler, the 2 drivers we had did not come with the tools to put my stuff back together like it was promised from the sales man. They make you sign their paperwork before they unload (read the fine print). It states that you are satisfied with your items and that you have them all. Make sure you put your own labels on your stuff and color coded and seal it on so tight it’s never coming off . Make sure they are specific with what they write in the paperwork when they supposedly box it up properly. They just put misc on tote 1 and than quote marks on the other lines if I had other totes. We utilized their storage facility and once we gave them the ok to send it still took another month yo even receive. After dozens of calls to the original company they were rude,no one knew the answers to any of my questions, no call backs were given like they said they would. When asked to speak to a supervisor we were told he was too busy to talk to us he had other issues to take care of. How any of these moving companies are still in business is beyond me. I made several complaints with this company both verbally and written with no response from anyone. They lost memorable items such as family pics, table top kitchen but we did get the base to it. The pics can never be replaced but they did not care literally you can hear it in their voice. Most of our totes looked like someone has ransacked them or thrown something heavy in them. And the Claims department is more of a joke you have to jump thru hoops for a response on help. They give you 9 months to get it resolved but every situation takes about a month to get it taken care of. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY YOU WILL REGRET IT!!!

I used a broker National American Van Lines for a move from Arizona to the state of Washington. NAVL gave me a price of $2721.25. NAVL then brokered the move to S&M Relo llc after my belongings were loaded on to the moving truck I was given a other price by John Chevery the new cost was 5156.66. John stated NAVL underestimated the moving cost. My belongings were then stored some where in Arizona S&M would not give me the location. After a month of waiting my belongings arrived by a other mover Peoples Movers. Two of my moving boxes were missing with stuff I can not replace. And a 5x7 rug was missing. The boxes that were missing had my name, phone number and the destination. Still no one know where they went. I do consider a form of theft.

Do not ever use Nationwide Moving Services or S&M Relo LLC. They are crooks and take advantage of everyone. Just read the reviews. My father who is 83 years old was originally quoted $5000 for a move from AZ to NE and in the end cost him $10000 with no logical explanation. The moving industry is nothing but a scam. Not only did the price change, we had missing and damaged items. Seems to be the norm for these companies. It baffles me that the Federal Government does not regulate these moving companies.

I have talked to several people about long distance moves, regardless of the company and it is always the same story.

Huge increase in cost, missing and damaged items and delivery delays. You have no choice to pay it or they won't give you your items. So you are stuck. I don't know how these people sleep at night? But karma will always get those in the end. Rent a truck and move yourself, trust me on this, you will thank me later.

Items picked up 1/28/22 with last date of delivery spread 3/22/22. I was patient and waited until the last day. Its now 3/22/22, no notifications as to why the delay, and will not respond to my emails. They keep feeding me the excuse that they "don't have any drivers available." Why would you take the job if you knew you couldn't deliver in a timely manner. I've been without all of my things for two months now, WHAT A JOKE. Contacted moveresuce.com and they are assisting me with trying to get my belongings back. If your move is brokered out to S&M please do yourself a favor, forfeit your deposit, and IMMEDIATELY CANCEL. You'd be just as well served by taking a match to your belongings and starting over at your new destination. No clue as to when or IF I will ever see my things again.

'0' Stars if I could!! DO NOT USE! I was brokered to this company for my my. They double charged me vs what I was originally quoted. This was the day of the move so I had no alternative options (being out of town). Lost furniture, damaged others. Non responsive to my communications about missing furniture. DO NOT USE! If you are using a broker (I used Atlantic Moving and did not realize that my move would be brokered out), inquire as to who they use. Atlantic Moving was also not helpful with the overcharging).

First time I write a review, but I want to share so there is no one making same mistake.

They moved my belongins from MI to TN, my biggest and more expensive item was my King Size mattrase. So at delivery they came without them. Right know I am filling a claim and I just realized they will pay .6 cents per Lb. So that mean that I will get my refounds of about 300 for a 3K matsrasse. They lost other things and some other are damaged.

DO NOT HIRE THEM!

I paid 6K but wish I had moved all by myself using Uhaul.

This company delayed my delivery for almost two months. On inspection of the delivery some of my items were visually broken in the back of the truck. Boxes had holes in them and some of my items had fallen out while being delivered and were already wet. Boxes were missing, items were broken and my computer was stolen. They used staff that weren't able to write a comprehensible itinerary and it was impossible to read the items that were listed.

A job that should have cost $3,500 ended up over $8,000 total or I would not receive my possession.

Their insurance recovery process was a mess and very difficult to follow. Their secretary was rude and knew nothing about the business nor when my item would have been delivered. The manager Steve Coburn was never around to answer my questions.

Do not use this company under any circumstances as they are not responsible nor professional enough to care for your items of love.

I lost so much stuff that I can't even bear to think about it.

This is the first time we made an interstate move. We had no idea the first person we talked to was a broker who then assigned us to S & M Relo LLC near Columbus OH. The broker based our “estimate” on the number of boxes and items we would be shipping. We had to guess as we didn’t have everything packed at this point. When the movers came to pick up our load, we didn’t have nearly the amount of items that we originally priced out. S & M refused to negotiate a new price, so we ended up having to over pay for our move. They moved our belongings to Florida within a timely manner however, some of our furniture was damaged because they failed to wrap items as was promised. They also stole items from us. Each time I call customer service, all I get are excuses (that’s if they even answer the phone!) and no one will call you back. They want me to file a claim with the insurance company who is about worthless as well. They will only pay cents on the dollar which does nothing for replacing damaged and lost items that are of family value. I’m sorry we used these crooks and would never recommend them to anyone – BUYER BEWARE!!! Do your research and you will find numerous complaints on social media and the web. If you live near Columbus and have either a local or interstate move, contact Campbell Brothers in Lancaster. They are amazing, fair and honest. Their employees are respectful of your property and work very hard to make every move a good move.

Moved from New Orleans to pennsylvania. Move was brokered to s&m from all pro moving. I gave all pro the exact measurements and exact number of boxes. When the movers showed up they phone steve. Steve up the price by another $600 some dollars. Again we were stuck because had to be out of the apartment that day. He knew he had us. Goods were picked up on December the 17th 2019. They were delivered on January 10th. Slowest people in the world. About $4,000 in damage was done to the items. I knew I would never recover this but expect it at least the $0.60 per pound per article has stated on the bill of lading. It took 9 months and two claims filing for them to offer $106. You cannot file a lawsuit under the current laws. I would highly recommend if they show up to move your items, send them on their merry way. They are a scam ripoff business!

This company was hired by a broker called "Quality Express Van Lines." I paid the broker 50% down for the total cost of my move from Maryland to Utah. When this moving company came, they charged me an additional 7,000.00 after I had already sold over half my furniture and boxed most of my stuff like books and drawers. The estimated time of delivery was supposed to be on October 21-23. It is now October 27 and they have not arrived. The moving company had called on Friday, October 23 to tell me that the truck would be there that weekend. No show. On Monday, October 26, I get a text that the truck will arrive on October 28. "Why?" I asked. The answer: the truck had broken down in Illinois. So, 7,000.00 poorer and still without my furniture, I asked the moving company for a discount. No siree, they said. They have a 30-day window for delivering my furniture. It's somewhere in my contract. So, if you want to spend a lot of money for an unreliable, uncaring moving company, this is your company to hire!
