Long-distance move from Ridgeland, MS to Corona, CA

Should be closed.

This is the worst moving company ever, when they want your business they burn your phone up calling. When it was time for me to move no one came to pick my stuff up, when I called to question the driver He was so rude and even cursed me. When I tried to call Melissa the individual who call every 30 minutes to get my money and my business she won’t answer her phone answer. I reported them to the better business bureau. They did nothing to try to help me move my items just stop answering the telephone oh and they were fine my money back in my account without me even though I know respect extremely rude should be close down whatever.

Don't make the mistake of using Purple Heart movers.

One of the biggest mistakes of my life was choosing Purple Heart Movers.
From the very beginning, I did not have the communication I was promised. They did not return my calls. The original estimate escalated from 5k, to 9k to almost 12k by the time our household was delivered to our destination. The Sub-contractor they hired to unload the truck did not complete the job, leaving most of the boxes in the garage. When I followed up with the Sub Contractor, I was screamed at and hung up on. Boxes were crushed in the delivery truck and many items were broken.

Do not use!

Do your research. Start with BBB. There are a number of recent complaints all stating the same issue. We used them and the experience was a nightmare. We were quoted one price and by the time the sub-contractor was done, it doubled. Our "dedicated" point of contact disappeared. Multiple items did not make the trip and now we have to deal with the movers they sub'd the job out to.

Purple Hearts gives you a stress-free move and treats you like family!

Seldom can one say they were able to have a stress-free move. Thankfully, I can say Purple Heart Moving Group made it happen! From the moment I called to plan my sudden interstate move, the team displayed the highest level of professionalism. Within minutes of my internet inquiry, an onsite live meeting was scheduled to plan the move and iron out the details to stay within budget. At my old home, staff explained each detail of the move and how my belongings would be protected and arrive without any dings.

Movers arrived on time and brought high-quality packing material. With good humor and friendly conversation, they worked quickly and efficiently to pack and load up the truck. During the transit, we were in constant contact. It made me feel like I was truly being treated like family, and staff were living the company values. Movers even helped with unpacking and loving placement of items when I reached my new home.

Job was completed ahead of schedule and even under budget; two things you don’t often get the chance to say! Thank you, Purple Heart, I can’t recommend your team highly enough.

Great move from CA to TX.

Purple heart were so on top of everything from start to finish. I was moving my mom from CA to my home in TX, which was no easy feat. My mom has fragile items that were dear to her, so I wanted to make sure the movers knew about them. They were so conscientious and helped me feel at ease. I was able to worry about other moving stresses and focus on those. I'll definitely use them for every move, and recommend them to my family and friends.

Long-distance move from Dublin, CA to Windermere, FL

Avoid Purple Heart Moving Group.

I’ve moved across the country several times and this is by far the worst move ever! First, I would not give much weight to the five star reviews on here and consider the more detailed and emotionally riveting reviews that accurately depict consistently poor business practices by Purple Heart Moving Group.
Second, all Veterans and Active Military Service members, avoid this company. They do nothing to support Veterans and Service members. In fact, I have requested Department Defense Trademark Licensing Program Office to look into this business use of “Purple Heart”, and one of Bait and Switch practices. They are a transport broker who accept the lowest bidder from third party movers. Also, I’ve submitted a letter to TRANSCOM requesting Purple Heart Moving Group be listed as off limit establishment in accordance to with Armed Forces Disciplinary Control Boards and Off Installation Liaison and Operations. Their business practices, poor service and communication combined with unconscionable contract terms adversely impacts the [financial and emotional] health and welfare of members of the Armed Forces.
THE SALES PITCH: they will tell you everything you want to hear that makes you comfortable with allowing them to move your home. They will tell you that moves can be fast as 6-8 days but they have to follow DOT rules and that it can take up to 30 days. During this pitch they don’t even know who the transporter is. They are misleading people. When I asked about moving from Bay Area, California to Florida they offered assurances that they will do their best to get it moved quickly and within DOT driving time for drivers. You can almost count on your household goods arriving 30 plus days. Ask about the late fees for delivery after 30 days. AND be sure to note that the 30 day clock starts on the day you tell them you can receive delivery. Oasis moving arrived and packed our home 23 June 2018. He asked me when I would be available to receive the delivery. I told them 28 June. So, by contract the 30 days started 28 June AND the 30 days DOES NOT include weekends. What you need to tell them is the day the load out your home is the day you can accept delivery so the 30 day clock starts immediately. I will get into OASIS moving later another poor performance.
CONTRACT: Find a company that can ship door to door. THEY ARE A BROKER THAT TAKES THEIR REFERRAL FEE AND LEAVE YOU HANGING. AS A PROPERLY LICENSED INTERSTATE MOVING COORDINATOR/SHIPPER AGENT/BROKER, PURPLE HEART MOVING GROUP IS NOT A MOTOR CARRIER AND WILL NOT TRANSPORT AN INDIVIDUAL CUSTOMER/SHIPPER’S HOUSEHOLD GOODS BUT WILL ORGANIZE AND ARRANGE FOR THE TRANSPORTATION OF HOUSEHOLD GOODS

Once they had you off to a third party, they could care less. Your calls will be received my carefully scripted responses giving your assurances that they are working and coordinating. Every time I called they had no clue and always said let me find out and get back to you. They never got back to me. You will spend countless times calling and sending emails for a status but will fall on def ears.
They absolve themselves for any actions of the movers they hire.
CUSTOMER SHALL INDEMNIFY AND HOLD HARMLESS PURPLE HEART MOVING GROUP AND ITS SHAREHOLDERS, DIRECTORS, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS AND AFFILIATES FROM AND AGAINST ANY AND ALL ACTIONS, CLAIMS, SUITS, LIABILITIES, PROCEEDINGS, PENALTIES, FINES, COSTS, AND EXPENSES (INCLUDING ALL REASONABLE ATTORNEYS’ FEES) RELATING DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY FROM ANY BREACH OF THIS AGREEMENT BY CUSTOMER.
They will by contact bind you to filing claims only in Florida which contradicts contract law whereby the Plaintiff can file in the state where damaged are incurred which could be the state where the load out occurred. It keeps their legal fees low by keeping it local to them.
IT IS AGREED BY THE PARTIES AS MANDATORY THAT THIS AGREEMENT SHALL BE GOVERNED BY THE INTERNAL LAWS OF THE STATE OF FLORIDA WITHOUT REGARD TO THE PRINCIPLES OF CONFLICTS OF LAW.

They bind you to negligible liquidated damages for late delivery. $30 a day! That’s it. After a 45 days of waiting they will give you $30 bucks. Tells me that they must consistently pay late fees so by contact they keep the fee low SO THERE IS NO INCENTIVE TO ENSURE PROMPT DELIVERY!
IF AT ANYTIME PURPLE HEART MOVING GROUP GIVES A GUARANTEE DELIVERY DATE AND THE COMPANY IS UNABLE TO DELIVER TO DATE FOR UNFORESEEN REASON, THE CUSTOMER WILL BE REIMBURSED $30.00 PER DAY UNTIL ITEMS ARE DELIVERED. THE CUSTOMER AGREES AND UNDERSTANDS THAT WE ARE NOT A CARRIER AND ARE NOT LIABLE FOR THINGS IN TRANSIT. ONCE THE CONTRACT IS SIGNED BY THE ASSIGNED CARRIER, ALL REIMBURSEMENTS FURTHER THAN THE DAILY ALLOWANCE OF $30.00 FROM PURPLE HEART MOVING GROUP WILL BE PURSUED BY THE CUSTOMER TO THE CARRIER. ALL LAWSUITS, REVIEWS, AND DOT COMPLAINTS MUST BE FILED AGAINST THE CARRIER AS PURPLE HEART MOVING GROUP ARE NOT HELD RESPONSIBLE FROM THE TIME OF PICK-UP.

PAYMENT
Purple Heart will accept credit cards but by contract you can only pay by case or money order. They want to ensure the transporters are not employees of Purple Heart. The movers who show up have direction.
AND they will not unload the truck until you pay. THEY WILL TRY TO RUSH DELIVERY WHERE YOU CAN’T CHECK ITEMS OFF AND LOSE TRACK OF ITEM ACCOUNTABILITY. We ended up missing items as the truck had other household goods.
UPON BOOKING, UP TO 60% DEPOSIT PLUS THE BINDING ESTIMATE FEE IS REQUIRED TO BE PAID BY CREDIT CARD (VISA, MASTER CARD, DISCOVER), CHECK BY PHONE, ACH, OR WIRE TRANSFER.IF AT ANYTIME THERE IS A REVISION MADE TO YOUR ESTIMATE THAT REQUIRES AN ADDITIONAL PAYMENT PURPLE HEART MOVING GROUP WILL ACCEPT ONLY A CHECK-BY-PHONE OR ACH PAYMENT FROM THE BANK OF THE CUSTOMERS CHOICE. UPON PICKUP CARRIER, WILL COLLECT UP TO 50% OF THE REMAINING BALANCE. PAYMENT WILL BE DUE IN THE FORM OF CASH, CERTIFIED CHECK, OR CASHIER’S CHECK. THE REMAINING BALANCE MUST BE PAID IN FULL UPON DELIVERY BY CASH OR POST OFFICE MONEY ORDER. IF AT ANYTIME A CREDIT CARD IS AUTHORIZED FOR PICK UP OR DELIVERY PLEASE BE AWARE THAT A 3%-10% CHARGE MAY OCCUR FOR PROCESSING.
TIP: BEFORE even talking contract make sure you do a good estimate for cubic feet. They will screw you on cost.
BULKING $200! They will try to sell you additional fees. Bulking means they won’t pack anything on top of the item. We paid bulking for the piano so that nothing is packed on top. They packed lots of boxes on top. When I explained to them I paid for bulking the piano they came up with additional cubic feet of items which would wash about the bulking fee.
QUALITY ASSURANCE: FACT, there is no quality assurance. They will call you to go over number of items to give you an accurate cost but they will call you early on in your move so you may not have an accurate box count. Once you sign the contract there is no quality assurance follow up calls. They got your money and household goods.

STORAGE: OASIS Moving Company from Las Vegas. AVOID! As a broker, they will not have a 55 foot trailer that loads your household items for door to door delivery. Instead, they will bring 26 footer or smaller trucks to ferry to a warehouse that is NOT climate controlled. We have many items damaged from HEAT. Two laundry baskets were basically melted together. Our items might as well have been stored in the Nevada desert. The storage time was from 30 June to 1 Sept. They IMPROPERLY STACKED ITEMS CAUSING DAMAGE TO FURNITURES, BOXES WERE CRUSHED, DINING TABLE CHAIRS WERE BROKEN. ABSOLUTELY NO OVERSIGHT BY PURPLE HEART ON QUALITY CONTROL OVER THE MOVERS THEY CONTRACT.
INVENTORY SHEETS: IMPORTANT They don’t log down the item or box to the number. We also found a second set of numbers of the items
REBUTAL: They will try to respond to negative reviews and show empathy. DON’T BUY INTO ANY OF THAT.

CROSS REFERENCE WITH BBB, YELP AND SITES LIKE THIS AND YOUR DUE DILLIGENCE SHOULD TELL YOU TO AVOID PURPLE HEART MOVING GROUP.

Brokers running scam under the guise of “Family Owned Buisness”.

TAKE YOUR BUSINESS ELSEWHERE! I would give zero stars if possible. I would advise you read through the many negative Google reviews this company has & look else where if you’re seeking a quality moving company.

As many others have stated, we were grossly misquoted; expected to pay an additional $500 for a smaller shuttle to deliver our belongings (which was not needed, as our apartment accommodated the size of their vehicle).Once Purple Heart has your deposit, good luck getting any response from their customer service team. I even had one customer service rep tell me that there were only TWO reps there to answer the phones. We were told to expect pickup between 8-10 AM; however, we waited until 10:00 PM before the movers actually arrived. This was a huge inconvenience, as my husband and I both had to take off work to accommodate the original time frame they gave us.

Once they arrived, the guy who seemed to be in charge was extremely unprofessional and tried to rush us through signing the paperwork, RIGHT AFTER he told us that we “should have read the original contract more throughly” after we complained about the misinformation that was given to us upon hiring the company. They also informed us that we would have to pay additional fees for packing materials- though the customer service rep (Michael Robinson) told me that the way we had packed our belongings would be fine. By the time they had everything in the truck (12 AM), my husband had to jump start their truck in order to get them back on the road.

After reading so many terrible reviews of this company, we are lucky to have received our belongings in about 2 weeks. I see that several people have waited up to a month, despite Purple Heart customer service reps guaranteeing “no more than 6 days”. Not to mention, several boxes that were destroyed, leaving multiple fragile items broken.

It’s a shame that these people run their scam under the guise of a “family owned company”. We chose them due to their competitive rates, but once they hit you with numerous additional fees, you’re better off choosing a more credible company. I’ll be reporting Purple Heart to the BBB.

Low ball quote that will be no where near what you end up paying.

They will quote you a low ball rate -- but send a truck big enough for your move. They are only the broker -- so, it will be hit and miss on who you actually get. The movers were nice and I could tell they knew the drill -- they don;t discuss the cost or how much you were quoted. We already gave a deposit so they knew we were going to lose it if we went with someone else. Do not believe the quote you get -- double it at least! Use someone that comes out and reviews all your stuff.

Move size: 4 Bedroom Home Service cost: $8700

Official company response

Our contract states we are a broker multiple times. We dispatch a truck with enough space allocated for your move based off the cubic feet we have you estimated for.
We only work with certain carriers that are required to abide by our rules and regulations in order to continue working with us. We require proper documentation of all of our carrier's information before we begin working with them as well as doing extensive research on their company.
The drivers would be required to complete a revision onsite as well, which they would go over all the costs and any increases in the remaining balance as well.
Our billing department does the best they can to work with our customers if pickup is refused, they typically offer to send another carrier out to you after going over your inventory again or offering a portion of your deposit back if you refuse a 2nd carrier.

Do Not Use!!

This company contracts out to terrible carriers who are unprofessional, negligent and even criminal. We had numerous delivery times given with no shows, damaged and missing items, and the movers were kicking and throwing boxes. Purple Heart takes your mom and then pretends they'll guide the whole move but basically leave you hanging. They tried to make us sign an NDA in exchange for a small discount so not to write this review. AVOID!

A really good company we've used multiple times (more expensive .. but worth it) is Wheaton. Call them.

Purple Hearts Moving Group.

The hardship we suffered from Purple Hearts has been intense and extreme. The financial loss resulting from them handing us off to Fragile Movers' of Hackensack, NJ resulted in careless and cavalier treatment of our personal belongings. Damages exceeded $2600.

We experienced insult and indignity as a result of disrespectful treatment and unfulfilled commitments by both Purple Hearts Moving Group and Fragile Movers.

We experienced the receipt of misleading information from Purple Hearts Moving Group's Salesperson regarding insurance and what we would be able to expect regarding our delivery timeline. We feel Purple Hearts Moving Group took advantage of our need for a Mover and our inherent desire to trust a company that would bear such a name. Our experience has shown this trust to have been costly, misplaced and undeserving.

We experienced additional egregious and personal affront from having to absorb damages to valuable, personal belongings.

The injurious treatment persisted as Purple Hearts Moving Group washed their hands of the damages to our personal belongings, and we had to wait over 4 month to see if we would receive any compensation from Fragile Movers for our losses.

In the end, we were offered $48.00 to cover the losses of over $2600.

Although Purple Hearts Moving Group is the company that exposed us to the damages we incurred, it is likely the "small print" of our contract justifies such inaction on their part.

Along the way, there was no commitment to promises made to us regarding the placement of our belongings onto the moving truck, the departure time of the truck for the cross-country journey, and the ability to personally contact the driver of the truck so we would have some semblance of an idea of the timeframe for delivery. At times for us, the lack of communication seemed incredulous.

We lived in an unfurnished home for weeks, without any knowledge of when or if we would ever see our belongings again.

It is disgraceful and sad that “Purple Hearts Moving Group” uses such a name to represent their service.

Scammed by Purple Heart Moving Group.

Sales Rep: Nick Didio
Customer Service Rep: Mercedes Grullen
Customer Service Manager: Trevor Swan
Manager: McKenna Rhodes
President: Liliya Zaslavskaya
BBB Rating: C+

Needed a mover for a relocation from TX to NV. Contacted Purple Heart and talked to Nick Didio. Nick reassured me that Purple Heart was a reputable company and could be trusted because: "we serve Veterans", "we have large Federal contracts", "we have our own trucks", "excellent reviews", "our competitors change the price on the day of the move".

Move coordinator Nick tells me that a physical walk through was not necessary to provide a volume based quote. A verbal description of only furniture would suffice. Having moved several times in the past, movers have always had someone come do a walk through. I asked if wanted to do a Facetime walk through to see the contents? Not necessary. I asked if he needed a verbal description of contents other than furniture? Not necessary. Nick works up a "not to exceed" quote of off 1400 cu-ft. I sign the contract and payed a $3800 deposit. We were given a two day range of when they'd be here to load and that they would let me know a firm date two days out. No call. I had to contact them and was told that the truck would be there the next day. When I asked why I had to call to find this out, Mercedes told me that "they would have gotten to it".

The driver shows up in a rented Penske truck and does a visual assessment. He came back with a volume estimate of 2400 cu-ft and said that the truck they had was not big enough. I would need to pay an additional $4100 for another truck to make up for the nearly doubled difference in cubic footage.

Hearing this, I attempted to contact Nick Didio but was told that he could not be contacted since he was not in the Customer Service department and he didn't have access to our contract. I said I have a binding contract and that I was not going to pay the additional $4100. I was told that I'd either have to pay the additional costs or load only what would fit on the 26' truck leaving the rest behind. I asked for a manager and was passed over to Trevor. He told me the same thing but added that I should have let them know that we had more volume than what was quoted (volume did not change) and that I was responsible. I asked to speak to Trevor's manager but he told me there was no one higher that I could go to for this issue. But then manager McKenna who was listening in spoke up and reaffirmed that I only had those two choices adding that I should have known the size of truck needed. ??

At this point I asked for my deposit back but was told it was not refundable because we were less than 5 days out from the date of the move. Having paid the deposit by auto withdrawal leaves me no way to dispute the charges to recoup my money.

I told Purple Heart that I did not want to do business with them anymore and insisted on a refund. Nope.

Purple Heart has extremely deceptive business practices taking absolutely no responsibility for underestimating the volume of our household items and put the entire burden on the me to make up the difference for their mistake. They've done to me exactly what they claimed they would not do; “quote a price then change the price on the day of the move". Purple Heart even uses it in their follow up email marketing materials (See attached image). Providing and guaranteeing a sight unseen quote knowing they will change it on move day is a predatory practice allowing them to bilk customers out of their money at the last minute even as movers have already started loading. The fact that they took no responsibility for their mistake or offer any kind of compromise spoke volumes. They are scrupulous in their approach and have no intention or interest in taking on a customer satisfaction approach to their business.

They are a broker not a moving company. They do not own their own trucks. They absolutely will jack the price up on move day.

Don't make the same mistake I did. DO NOT USE PURPLE HEART.

Purple Heart Moving Group Preys Upon Tetired Military Families.

My husband is retired from the military and he hired Purple Heart Moving Group for our move from Maine to Oregon. As soon as Purple Heart got it’s deposit we never heard from them again. The movers from i& A Moving Company increased the cost by an additional $9000,00 even though we had fewer items than were on the original estimate. They spoke Russian and the driver(AZ) mentioned the mob while in our home. My husband signed the paper work under duress because these movers were nasty. They damaged our home, complained constantly, refused to pack one closet and were always late. After waiting over 3 weeks our goods were delivered by 2 men who also spoke Russian and we had to pay the additional money to them with money orders. Again these men were rude to me and they did not know how to put our furniture together. This was our seventh cross country move and it was totally unprofessional. I will be contacting every consumer agency to warn others about Purple Heart Moving Group and I and A Moving and Storage.

Texas to Mississippi.

My daughter's and I hired Purple Heart to coordinate our long distance move and we are happy to share our experience. When we called in and spoke to Collin, he was nice, knowledgeable and always available when we had additional questions. He provided a breakdown of the cost and explained what to expect moving forward. They provided us with their 24 hour customer service line, which was great considering my daughter's and I both work during normal business hours.

The company Soloman and Sons were the ones who were actually picking us up. We also reviewed them after the customer service lady told us who would be coming. We were pleased with what we saw . The truck and crew arrived on time at pickup and began working right away. We were provided updates throughout the transit of our items and the driver called when they got closer for delivery to provide an actual date. We had a slight issue with the weather and had to push the delivery day back by one day. Other than that, the move went really well and we are also happy to share everything arrived safely.

We would both highly recommend using Purple Heart Moving Group to set up and execute your move. They did a fantastic job.

Great move!!

I hate moving and everything that comes with it. I found Purple Heart Moving Group and a few other companies through an online search. I had four different quotes and they were definitely not the cheapest. They were able to keep things straight with me over the phone. Collin told me that they were a broker and worked with a select few companies. Whatever he said gave me the gut feeling that this should be the company to move my family. I was honestly looking for the company that would cause me the least amount of stress possible. It took about 2 hours to set everything up after I decided to go with them. That was the easy part.
We were told it would be cheaper to pack our stuff ourselves, which we did. My husband has moved a lot in the past and claims he knew how to pack everything safely. Now, the moving part. The guys showed up about an hour later than expected. Purple Heart Moving Group did keep us updated. The company that showed up were extremely helpful during the loading process. They let us know what they were doing as they did it. It took just under 4 hours to get it on the truck. Our quote was off by $85 dollars. Delivery took 9 days. We moved from Kansas to Maryland. We were also kept in the loop with this. When the things arrived, we did have a few issues. Our bedframe has a scratch on the back and one of our boxes of dishware had some broken pieces in it. My husband took responsibiliy for the dish box. They helped us file a claim for the bed. We got lucky since the scratch is in the back, it's against the wall. All in all, it went better than I thought it would. I would use them again to set up a move for us.

An honest and reliable company.

When I came across Purple Heart I had a few other quotes from other companies. There was one that looked way too low and 2 that seemed really high. So we thought we would give it a shot and call another company. Over the phone they explained to me they are a broker and that they work within a very limited network of carriers that are all top rated in the country. So we went through our inventory over the phone with them and within 45 minutes of a discussion they had my base quote at $7,200. I was doing this about a month out from my move so the reassured me that their Quality Assurance Manager would call a few days prior to my move and review my inventory with me. There was some items I had for gotten and some packing that I wasn't aware needed to be done. So after that thorough call again they made sure I was adjusted so move day came I would have no hidden surprises. But to forward along to the delivery, it took 6 days for my stuff to be delivered, it was one day past the desired date which I did have to reschedule my start day at work, but other then that Purple Heart made my relocation easy and smooth. I'd definitely use them again in the future.

Con artists! Scammers! Totally Dishonest!

I contacted Purpleheart to help me move from CA to AZ in Feb 2019.
I got a verbal on the phone for $5000. I emailed my inventory list and I received a quote for $9000. I thought it was competive to what I received and they sounded sincere and genuine. He sent over the contract, I signed it and gave him 50% of the money as a deposit, $4000+

I contacted Purpleheart a week before our move and to go over the logistics of the move. I spoke to their SPECIALISTS and was told that cost of the move was now going to be $14,000!!

I asked to cancel the contract and they told me I was past my cancellation date! I had 5 days and I was cancelling on the 5th day! They harassed me on the phone for 5 hrs trying to make me NOT cancel.
I sent them an email on the 5th day cancelling the contract.

Purpleheart will not refund my $4000 deposit!! They LAUGHED at me on the phone when I called asking for my $4000 deposit back. I am now going to have to take legal action to get my money back.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!

Then when you have problems with the move, and you will, no one with Purple Heart will help you. They didn't even tell my husband that they were brokers, thus we thought they were a moving company. We had so many problems with the movers that we actually had $10,000. worth of damage as appraised by a company who does repair on moving damaged furniture. Purple heart was absolutely no help. THEY WASHED THEIR HAND OF US THE MINUTE THEY GOT OUR MONEY! We had packing issues, charges issues, delivery issues and damage household goods. Purple Heart wouldn't help! The rotten moving company that they sent to us offered us $76.00 which didn't even cover the cost of filing the claim. I jumped through hoops for 5 months with the claims process and they offer $76.00!! Think about it and run away from this dishonest company!!

Long-distance move from Washingtonville, NY to Largo, FL

Do Not go Near This Company.

My wife & I was looking forward to our move to Florida after our house was sold in New York state. We found Purple Heart Moving group on the web and thought that if they were supporting the veterans of this great nation then they can't be all that bad. Boy were we wrong. After they kept pushing for a moving date we finally picked one about 9 weeks in advance and they gladly took our deposit. About a week later the sale on the house became a no sale. It is now about 8 weeks before the move date & I called Purple Heart to cancel and asked for my deposit but was told that I outside my 5 day window were going to keep the deposit on file for 1 year. I called them when the year was up was told by their so called customer service the deposit was non refundable. Do not use this company they will rob you blind as they quote their mile long contract that you need several lawyers to understand as they continue to keep deposit monies from senior citizens and real Purple Heart recipients.Perhaps a trip to the national Purple Heart Museum in New Windsor NY would make them realize the true meaning of th Purple Heart, In the mean time DO NOT GO NEAR THIS COMPANY unless you are a senior citizen like myself and enjoy throwing your money out the windoww.

From the notes on file, we see that you have been working with our Billing Department and Customer Service Manager to resolve this issue, however, it looks as if we have not been able to get back in contact with you to settle your concerns. Please reach back out to them or give our Customer Service Department a call at (866) 671-1977 ext. 2. Thank you!

Long-distance move from Lexington, KY to Augusta, GA

Do not recommend.

Review of Moving group Purple Heart and Sub Contractor 5 Star Moving co. Mind you I am not a professional mover and shared this with the initial contact with Purple Heart. I did request that I have an in person Quote. I was told that I am a professional and have done this many times it will be fine I can provide you a quote over the phone. My estimated bill went from $6500 to $14000 on the day of moving. Unbeknownst to me Purple Heart Sub Contracts out with 5 Star. I had a small moving truck show up for a 3 bedroom house and basement. There appeared to be no communication between the subcontractor and Purple Heart. Another truck needed to be rented in addition to additional boxes. Many of my items were left behind do to the decision of the 5 Star Subcontractor. There was extensive damage done to the drywall of the basement stairway and hand railing. I have made multiple attempts to have my Treadmill delivered to me and reimbursement for the damage without success. I would not recommend this group as they do not appear to be what they are. Very frustrated mover, More to come..

Long-distance move from Warsaw, IN to Melrose, MA

Please Avoid This Company.

Initially they offer you a lowered than market rate for you to take the bait AND gave false promise on delivery date. Took half of the deposit for nothing. Contracted the job to American Relocation Home, which is absolutely horrible. Pickup driver charged $1000 more for a couple more large U-Haul boxes, lured me into signing my actual delivery date to the "First available delivery date", which was later on explained by Purple Heart Moving that it is the first day my shipment will be in transit. LIES! It took them more than a week to ship a one-bedroom apartment from IN to MA and I still have not received my items. Delivery driver kept false promising me delivery date. I had to reschedule back and forth between work and the new building for the move-in, and now I have to pay fines to my building because "there was no record of me telling them the move-in has to be before 6 PM".

TL;DR: do not book with this company. Just go on Uship where there is user protection. Purple Heart Moving is a scam.

Move size: 1 Bedroom Home Service cost: $3500

Official company response

We do apologize that you did not have a good experience with us. I do see on file that you provided the movers with a first available delivery date or FADD of 05/24/19. Per DOT regulation, your distance of a move is estimated to take 2-5 business days from your FADD. You were delivered within 3 business days of 05/24/2019, and within 5 business days from your pickup date. Please reach out to our customer service department for further assistance at (866) 671-1977 ext. 2 and one of our representatives would be able to assist you further.

Long-distance move from New York to Texas

Worst moving company ever- Don't ever use Purple Heart.

I contacted with Purple Heart for a two household cross country move. Purple Heart then subcontracted the actual move to Mover Dudes, LLC. My wife and I have moved a few times in our life together, but none was worse than this one. The amount of lost, broken, or damaged items was staggering. Jonathan the owner of Mover Dudes picked up the items from the first stop and complained about how many items were at the location. He then did the same at my location. Jonathan stated that he would have to adjust our estimate by 20%, which would have been a lot to, but ok. He then doubled the amount from $8500 to $16,800 and needed cash. He told that if I didn't agree, he would count the items and leave items for us to move on our own.

One we reluctantly agreed they packed our items on the truck. Once in transit, they kept missing the date our items would arrive. Finally, 4 days later the movers arrived and demanded the balance in cash before unloading the truck. Upon bringing in the first item, they put a big gouge in my wood door. The foreman first stated that they caused some damaged and then lied to say that they didn't.

Once I started seeing items coming off the truck I noticed damage on some items. The foreman told me that we needed to inspect everything and sign off on the invoice. How was I supposed to go through everything in an hour?

Once we started seeing more and more items damaged or missing, I contacted Purple Heart and they referred me to Mover dudes. I received the run-around from both companies. I wrote the BBB and gave them a negative review. Purple Heart offered me $400 as a settlement if I would remove the review. I declined their offer. I provided a list and pictures of damaged, broken, or missing items to Mover Dudes.
Once I got through everything, I submitted the documentation to Jonathan for submission to their insurance company. Jonathan called back later to say that I'd missed the deadline and they would do nothing.

The items lost or destroyed were 60+ year old items mother and late father bought or received as wedding gifts. The same happened with items my wife received as wedding gifts or bought 30+ years earlier when we had no money but we're great quality. These items were very sentimental to my mother and to my wife and I. They also lost a 6.5foot tall120lb bronze floor lamp.

I CAN NOT SAY ENOUGH THAT UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD ANYONE EVER USE PURPLE HEART MOVING GROUP OR MOVER DUDES IF YOU WANT A GOOD MOVING EXPERIENCE. THEY SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO DO DAMAGE TO ANOTHER CUSTOMER. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK AND PERIL. READ TYE REVIEWS, YOU'VE BEEN WARNED.

Worst experience and customer service in my life--1 star is too high.

There is an agreement in place to lessen the financial losses that occurred during my move

This will be lengthy but please read it in its entirety to save yourself time, money and tremendous heartache. This review includes terrible service, fraudulent business practices verging on extortion, extensive damage to walls and even broken stone steps all with a shrug from the delivery driver. This is a brand new home.

I booked a move from CO to NC explaining that I would be in NC and not able to be present for the pack and load. I was told everything I needed to hear during the initial conversations. From we will walk you through this to consistent updates to personal care and being assured of a highly professional company. Well, NONE of that was true. I was lied to, ignored, patronized and left with no options. My biggest concerns were they did not follow their own policy which left me without the opportunity to adjust my inventory prior to the arrival of the packers. So the 'estimate' jumped $4,000. I did have more items than the initial inventory but once the packers arrived Purple Heart told me they were out of the equation. This left me in a vulnerable position since I was out of the state and my house was closing the next week. I had no time to secure another moving company once things started to go bad with Purple Heart.

The care of my belongings was worse than neglectful. I left specific instructions on how to handle some antiques but these were ignored and an actual crowbar was used to take apart an antique desk, breaking two pieces that needed to be fabricated to allow the desk to be put back together. Boxes I had packed were all opened and most of the boxes I packed were dumped into large wardrobe boxes. I do mean dumped. No packing paper. Books on top of glass decorations, lawn equipment in with art work to name a few. Some of the boxes weighed over 160#. Leather furniture cut, torn and EVERY piece of furniture was scratched or broken.

Purple Heart uses jobbers and day labor to complete these moves. They used a company that is located near their office in Florida not a local moving company, hired temporary help to load my belongings into Enterprise rental trucks. They put my items out for bid for the transportation to NC. An owner/operator who also worked for Boost Express took the job.

Once picked up I was told the driver was going to Pennsylvania to deliver another load then to me. Weeks later I received a call that the delivery would happen on Monday between 10-11am. Making arrangements to be there at 10, I waited until 3pm for their arrival. The 'team' they were to arrive with was the driver and one person, taking two days to unload.

**Throughout this process, I NEVER spoke to a manager or supervisor. I made multiple calls and sent emails attempting to speak to someone who could help me. I was told that Kristen Kelly was the only supervisor that would talk to customers. I was only able to receive emails from her sometimes a day later during critical times of the move.

The truck was able to park 35 feet from my house. The driver said the stairs were too difficult to navigate wanted to walk around to the back of the house to deliver the items downstairs. That is fine EXCEPT then he tried to charge me $580 for extra distance from the truck, charging me for the walk around distance. When I told him I would not pay since he could park 35 feet away, well within the 50 feet requirement, he offered to take $400 in cash. Needless to say, I did not pay that either.

I have already paid over $1000 to repair and replace items. The claim process is terrible. Once you submit a claim then they tell you they require box number, boxes, packaging etc to process.

So, my move when from $10,000 to $14,000. I paid $1,000 to repair and replace items that would not be covered by their claim process.

A state's attorney needs to look into their practices. I am notifying every Federal and State agency about their practices.

Final word: DO NOT TRUST THEM.

Awful!

We used this broker back in July of 2019. First, don't use a broker. Brokers go with the cheapest movers to make more money. They come in low and keep adding as they go along. We started at about $7,000. By the time we got our stuff (and it was over a month later), we ended up paying nearly $14,000. Stuff was missing, a lot was broken, they were rude and unresponsive on the phone (except when they were trying to get our business of course). I GUARANTEE you will regret going with this group. THE WORST!

Long-distance move from Jonesborough, TN to Simpsonville, SC

Scam!! do Not Use This Company.

On 6/23/2020 I received a quote from Purple Heart Moving company to move my belongings from TN to SC for $4482.56. Purple Heart assured me this was a very high quote to allow for any errors or extra items. The movers were to arrive on June 30 but there was a 2 day window in contract. We communicated with movers that we were closing on our home on July 2nd and really needed to be moved on June 30. Purple Heart hired another company to move us, Dependable Mover out of New Jersey. We were unaware that this was the process. They called on June 30 to say they would not arrive until the morning of July 1st. Then on July 1st movers did not arrive until 5:00pm. Again we were scheduled to close on our home the next day and had to be out of home. Once they arrived they said the estimate was wrong and our furniture was much heavier than our quote. They increased the price by $3264.99 with a total cost of $7747.55. I was so upset and did not have this kind of extra money. But it was the night before we had to be out of our home, after 5:00 pm and too late to find another mover. We had no choice but to pay the extra money. Movers were not able to move all belongings so we had to rent a truck and finish moving our belongings the next morning.

We had not closed on our new home in SC and items were to be placed in their storage and we would let them know delivery date. I have been trying to get in touch via multiple phone calls each day, text messages and emails with Purple Heart Moving Company and Dependable movers for 7 days now to schedule delivery of items. No response form Dependable movers and Purple Heart occasionally will answer their phone and say they will be in touch with information. We are concerned we will never see our belongings again.

Long-distance move from Missouri to Washington DC

This company is a fraud.

Let me first preface this review with this: If I had to choose between using Purple Heart again for my move or setting all my belongings on fire so they couldn’t touch them, I would HAPPILY watch everything I own burn. This has been the absolute WORST experience of my life and no one, and I truly mean NOT ONE PERSON at Purple Heart has been remotely helpful. Not to mention some of my items were STOLEN, yes you read that correctly **STOLEN** and EVERYONE from purple heart is avoiding my phone calls.

Let me first start with Josh Donovan whose phone number was conveniently disconnected a few weeks after I wrote a big fat check to Purple Heart. Josh first assured me that Purple Heart was not a broker, which was ABSOLUTELY FALSE, and that all movers were required to wear a mask, booties and gloves when entering the home, again ABSOLUTELY FALSE. He assured me my things would be there between 3-10 business days and usually does not take up to 10 business days, again ABSOLUTELY FALSE. I am now half way into WEEK EIGHT, yes my friends read that again, WEEK EIGHT, and Josh if you are reading this and need help with counting, that is 37 business days, which is nowhere close to 10 business days. My good friend Josh then proceeded to tell me that they could easily make a drop off in Ohio as it is the halfway point between Missouri and D.C., guess what friends, ABSOLUTELY FALSE. Josh then informed me that I needed to put down a deposit and half of the remaining balance would be due at the time of pick up and the other half due at the time of delivery, REMINDER, delivery is currently at 42 business days. See rest of review in the next posting **.
