Long-distance move from Olympia, WA to Columbus, OH

SCAM

My mother's items were picked up by these guys (who were a subcontractor of the hired company). It's been in their possession for about 6 weeks and we still don't have any clue where her stuff is. She received a handful of items and they are trashed-- not just scratched, trashed. That's after paying $6,200. Don't use this company or All Pro Moving Co, which seems to be their new name (same phone number). I also wouldn't hire a moving company unless you KNOW who the contracted companies will be.

Local move within California

Big move from TX to CA - made it nice and easy.

We called many moving companies for quotes and United Relocation gave us by far the best price. US Movers (contracted packers) arrived on the earliest scheduled day and I was happy to hand the whole process to them. I am very grateful to Kevian (the packers driver in Dallas, TX) who said - now you can just take a break and we'll take care of everything. And they did. They packed all loose items, took apart and diligently wrapped all furniture (including the bolts, nuts, and washers), paintings and big frames, numbered each box and each article with a numeric sticker, re-taped all boxes and after they finished they cleaned up! Everything arrived to CA intact!
They even moved my Makita drill set from the box on which I unambiguously wrote "drill" into a wheeled cooler which was much safer. Good thinking!
Moti (the US Movers delivery driver in CA) had to navigate his semi-truck in reverse to get to my house on a pretty challenging dead end street with bunch of construction trucks parked along it. He saved me a lot of money by getting his 18 wheeler right next to my house. Many thanks, Moti!
When I contacted Lisa in Customer Service with questions - the response was always prompt, courteous and helpful.
I highly recommend this company and just want to say THANK YOU for making our big move from TX to CA easy and nice!

Sergey,

Thank you for the honest and detailed review! We're happy everything went smoothly for you. You were patient and easy to work with throughout the process. After delivery you mentioned that a briefcase was missing. We had the movers looking for it diligently, but then you notified us it was in the last box you unpacked days later. We were happy you found it because the movers weren't having any luck finding it.

Best to you and your family,

- United Relocation.

Long-distance move from Charlotte, NC to Nashville, TN

Worst nightmare : move with united relocation at your own risk.

The reason we are giving one is as we can't give it in a negative or minus star.Let me tell you that this was the most frustrating move I had so far as I keep moving almost every 6 months or a year.
1. At the time of booking, they told that they can hold luggage for 30 days whereas Jeremy from Metro relocation threatened me that If I don't take delivery by 7/7, they will not deliver anything in future and he was shouting that storage is not free and he charged me $300 extra and he said that he will not deliver if I don't pay this additional amount. So this entire move costed me 2246 whereas quote was 1946.

2. The pick up guys didn't pack anything and they used the same boxes which we prepared with intention of helping them to make it faster. They just packed as it's without proper fulling the box and whey they are about to move 20 boxes, they said they can't accommodate anything more which is really surprising. As you remember, we discussed during the booking that they can adjust 5-10 more boxes as we can't give exact estimate during placing the order. As a result, I had a lot of stuff which I had to dispose off. They told me they wont even take lamps as they were not mentioned in the list. Do I need to inform you about 2000 plus items I own ? Is not that common sense?

3. It was subcontracted to some Metro relocation and they are so arrogant, stubborn and impolite to talk to the customer. As per this quote, I was given two days as move-date out of which second day was for buffer for move however I was not informed until Saturday 06/30 that they will move on 2nd day (2nd July). When the lady contacted me on that fateful Saturday, she told that they wont be coming before afternoon on Monday. When I expressed my concern that its late she said that is when they are coming , do you want me to cancel your order ( the tone was of a threat)? That was the start of the constant harassment of us as customers. And on 2nd July, They told that they can come after only late evening so its better let them come on Tuesday. We told that we can not delay the move after two days delay so they turned up at 8:30 pm which is quite late.

4. They did not wrapped the glass items and just dumped the stuff like a novice. So that they could charge more money by adding boxes but as they came late at night and were in a hurry to leave they just were not even ready to pick the entire stuff although we told them we will pay extra. This whole move was a harassment we were charged, overcharged, threatened, rudely dealt with at every step. They kept our stuff as a ransom and threatened if we do not get the delivery the time and day of their choice(although the contract had 30 days free storage) and threatened we might have to pick the stuff from Atlanta if we do not take it on Saturday. When we finally arranged they did not even bothered to call us( although was trying to reach them and told them just give us a call when you are 30 min away. Is that asking too much? As they wanted to put waiting charged as well. Looks like robbers and thugs are running this business. They charged us $300 for keeping the stuff for three days although they had in the contract that we can store for 30 days.

5. They came to deliver the stuff also at night and when we told that one entire box is missing they said we need to talk to metro relocation which again have subcontracted to some random guys and the truck on which they came didn't belonged to metro. So my stuff changed hands thrice.

Long-distance move from Pittsburgh, PA to Jacksonville, FL

Awesome Experience.

My family and I moved from Pittsburgh to Jacksonville. We had a four bedroom home and needed a full service pack and a storage unit taken as well. My phone was ringing off the hook from different companies promising the world but what sold me with United was their honesty. They walked me through the entire process without sugar coated cost or common issues. The price was fair, the packing was professional and the delivery was fast. They were phenomenal and im so happy that we chose this company.

Long-distance move from Malverne, NY to Greensboro, NC

My move experience.

I went with United this year for my move from New York to North Carolina. I was wary about outsourcing the move at first after reading reviews from several companies, but the people at United left me feeling assured that my items would be transported safely, with any additional hidden fees. All in all the move went smoothly, the movers were a few hours late for arrival, and the delivery took a little longer than I thought but everything arrived as promised! I'd recommend United again.

Long-distance move from Memphis, TN to Baltimore, MD

Just a broker-find a MOVER!

Twelve hours after scheduling the movers, we tried to cancel. They held it out until 72 hours. The day after we scheduled, we received a call from a "Quality Assurance" employee. When we discovered that quality was not assured, we requested to cancel. Cameron (QA guy) said he would send it to the cancellation department and recommend we receive a full refund. To be clear, they estimated a certain amount. Cameron disclosed they would probably have to charge us another two grand. We explained we really didn't have another two grand to put toward this move, we requested a refund and cancellation (within 12-24 hours of scheduling). He was persistant about us not cancelling and after standing our ground, Cameron still told us to "sleep on it" and we would talk the next day. That next day came and we spoke to Cameron. We explained to him that we really didn't feel comfortable putting ourselves in a position of POSSIBLY owing them another two grand, while they hold our stuff hostage. He became a bit hostile & condescending, trying to bully or manipulate us into staying. We made it clear we still needed to cancel. The next day, after an entire day of waiting, we had to call to be told (by Andrew, found out after the whole thing-he's actually the OWNER) we would only be receiving less than half of the deposit back as a refund and we should consider it a "gift." After being screamed at, berated, and told I should be glad he didn't tell us to "f-off", we offered to allow them to keep more than 15% of the deposit but not 50%. Andrew was suppose to call us back the following morning (after he told us he needed to speak to the "owners") at ten but we weren't called until mid afternoon after we called them. No worries, except when Doug (who said he a coworker-was actually the other OWNER & is named Dirk, not Doug) lied & said Andrew hadn't been in all morning, he proceeded to be condescending and nasty to us; telling us this was "non negotiable" and we could take what we're being given and be happy with it or we can leave it. Cancellation tried to be done within 24 hours of scheduling. They were aware of our possible cancellation Saturday morning (less than 12 hours after scheduling) and somehow managed to (as Andrew put it) "disperse all of the funds" in that timeframe. After more digging, turns out Andrew and Dirk (not Doug) are the OWNERS and they've changed their name a few times to hide the bad reviews. The actual mover called us on Wednesday to confirm our move. We explained we had cancelled the move and he apologized. We asked when he was hired and he said he received an "availability request" Friday afternoon/evening and an UPDATED PACKING LIST on Monday (which was after we cancelled for the third time!). We asked when he received the money and how much, he said that wasn't how it worked. After he confirms availability, they send a packing list. When he shows up for the job, WE pay him some money. When he delivers our stuff, WE pay him the rest. He said the "deposit" we pay is just for the "Brokers". Even more sketchy, we had originally requested Budget Van Lines help and were referred to this "company", United Relocation, LLC. We called them on Wednesday to let them know the people they referred us to were scammers and to tell them to take UR off their referral list. They looked our information up in their system and said they don't have anything on us. When we forwarded the email we received from them, they confirmed that they NEVER sent that email. No one knows where it came from.

Official company response

Mr. Gillespie,
This review is far from the truth of events that occurred and we are saddened to see this review from you. You reserved your move on 8/17/2018 for a requested pick up window of 8/22-8/23. Most clients book their move over 30 days in advance so when you reserved with us last minute it is our job to ensure your pick up dates and coordinate everything properly. We received your verbal cancellation notice on 8/20 and our General Manager Andrew (Not the owner, more than 1 person can have the same name) contacted you about a refund. After reviewing this with ownership we offered you over 50% of your down deposit back. After presenting our offer, your wife berated us using curse-words threatening lawyers, BBB, many other repercussions and using negative reviews as leverage to pay you move money. We are not obligated to compensate at all due to a late cancellation, but we are here to move you and not keep your money. Our offer was fair and significant. The reason it is not a full refund is due to processing fee's, and the "Dry run" for the truck in route to you which will not be able to find another move last minute. It's unfortunate we couldn't come to an agreement and you are now going to the extent to lie about your experience with us and slander our company.
Our Quality Assurance department reaches out to every client, days before their move, to ensure the items list is accurate so that no surprises will happen during the pick up. You even told us during the quality assurance call that when setting your move up you told our moving coordinator less items then your 2 previous quotes to get a better rate. When more items are added there has to be a price increase due to more labor involved, space on a truck, fuel, etc.. We would've been happy to complete the move you contracted us for with the items mentioned.
We hope you were able to get relocated safely. Please contact us if you need anything moving forward.
Regards,
Management

Long-distance move from Denver, CO to Austin, TX

Incompetent Rip Off.

Like other reviewers have said United Relocation isn't even worth one star. The issues started a few days before our scheduled move. We received a call that the movers were worried that they would have enough time to pack and load all of our things. We told them they could start early if need be. Two days before the move we received a second call informing us that they had our move dates scheduled later than what we had set up over a month earlier. On move day the they finally showed by, four hours late, never a phone call to inform us that they were running behind. Upon arrival were were told that they never revived the large item inventory that we email them, they didn't know that they were supposed to move three motorcycles, they didn't know they were supposed to do packing, the truck they brought wouldn't not be big enough and to top it all off our move price was going to go from an estimate of $5800 to $15000! Multiple attempts to contact their sorry excuse for "customer service" were met with "we can take your contact info and have someone call you back." So not only was there no representative or manager or anyone to talk to to help fix this HUGE issue, there was of course never anyone who returned our calls. Luckily the truck hadn't been loaded yet. We told to movers to unwrap the furniture they had started with and leave. Luckily for us again we have another week before we must be out of our house so I've been able to make other moving arrangements. This was enough of a nightmare as is, I can't even imagine what we would have done if this had happened right before the house had to be clear.

2 Thumbs Up.

My family had a last minute cancellation with another moving company on a move we booked months in advance. Needless to say this threw a huge monkey wrench in our plans, my wife was freaking out and I had plans with deadlines already in place. I called United Relocation off a referral. They worked diligently to help get us moved on such short notice.. the movers arrrived and things went quite well.(My wife had me kicking myself for not booking with United originally). All in all 5 stars ⭐️ for saving us when we were in a pinch.
Thanks again United Relocation!

Long-distance move from Medina, OH to Irving, TX

The Worst Moving Company & Experience.

We had to make an inter state move and unfortunately approached this moving company. Right from giving an incorrect estimate to providing wrong information the moving associate was wrong in every way. The carrier they allocated to us was pathetic. They demand and corner you into paying them more than what was estimated. My washer/dryer was damaged and they don't even own the responsibility but give a website to lodge a complaint for claim. I am following up with them and not sure if they will compensate. My experiences were so bad that I could not even detail those. Never ever choose this company for the move. If I could I would not even give them a single star.

Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $3284

Official company response

Hello Mr Moin,
We are sorry to hear the frustration you've been dealing with. We understand you did have some damaged items and we have provided the claims information so you can get compensation for this. It is your right as a customer and you are owed money for the damaged items. If you are having issues submitting your claims please call us and we can walk you through this process. There were additional charges with your move. After your items were picked up you changed the delivery address from Tennessee to Texas. The truck you were on wasn't on that specific route and the shipping cost to get your items there did justify a price increase. We are sorry if this wasn't communicated to you properly.
Please call us if you need anything moving forward. (866) 428-9279

Long-distance move from Chapel Hill, NC to Los Angeles, CA

My dresser, bookshelf, and TV all showed up broken.

I contracted with United Relocation to move from North Carolina to California. My dresser, bookshelf and TV all showed up broken. I even paid them an extra $75 fee to package my TV. They are not helpful with reimbursement and they only reimburse 10 cents a pound. They told me my things would take about a week and half when really it took 3 weeks to receive my items. The total cost exceeded my estimate by several hundred dollars. Overall, they were disorganized, unhelpful, and ended up braking a lot of important items to me. I wish I hadn't shipped with United Relocation.

Move size: 1 Bedroom Home Service cost: $2000

Official company response

Hello Mark,
We're saddened to hear you incurred some damages during your move. The insurance included in your move is more then 10 cents/lb and if you haven't processed your claims properly we will be happy to walk you through it. For your move of approximately 2600 miles across the country, delivery time-frames are anywhere between 6-21 business days. It seems the movers delivered within your time period but the expectations you had were different. If you aren't happy with the compensation offer you received for claims than please contact our management team to see if we can help make this right from our end.
Thank you,
Management
