Run away from Purple Heart Moving Group.

I feel disgust dealing with Purple Heart Moving Group, their business is based on deceit.
Collin Williamson a Senior Moving Coordinator was extremely courteous, sounded very professional just to allure you to sign up for business with them.
Unfortunately, I took a bait.
He gave a very reasonable estimate of $2600 to move mostly my boxes from Pennsylvania to Seattle and assured me that this will be the final price for the inventory.
He made me pay $1200 deposit.
I diligently packed everything but when the movers came they charged me for exact same inventory $1700 more, which 65% over the biding agreement price.
I called back Purple Heart, however it was absolutely of no use.
Purple Heart Moving Group is broker company, a deposit goes to them, after that it's a wild west, movers ignored the deposit and charged you even more than the deposit with understanding that you are trapped, cannot change anything at the day of a move, exhausted from selling your house, etc.
If you want to feel being taken advantage off, lied to, humiliated - then go ahead and deal with Purple Heart.
Otherwise, go with the reputable company who would not lie to you with the estimate.
Do your research ahead of time, otherwise you will feel furious for days.

Rude & Unprepared.

Apparently this company will have a sales person call you after you've submitted an inventory and then askyou to repeat all of the information you've given them already.
Their website claims they can move you in 24 hours notice, but I was told "wow you aren't giving us much time" when I asked for a move in an week.
We are moving our office halfway across the country, and "Zach" was incredibly unprepared to speak with me, but also told me *I* was rude when he was trying to "help me".
By helping me, he must have meant wasting my time.
I hung up on him because I won't be treated that way within the first 2 minutes of speaking to a representative of the company.
I can only imagine how much worse it would be if this is how they're trying to get my business.
RUN AWAY.

Long-distance move from Orlando, FL to Clackamas, OR

Excellent movers.

Honestly, when we were looking for movers we were afraid that we would end up having to replace our furniture because our things were so heavy and our apartment was on the 3rd floor. When we reached out to Purple Heart they were on top of it and assured us they would find a way to make it work. I was so impressed with the customer service and the skill of their movers. The pricing fit right into our budget and I am so happy we didn’t have to replace anything.

Definitely recommended.

The three guys that Purple Heart sent us showed up on time and immediately got started. I was so impressed with how fast they worked. They made sure to protect all of our items and we didn’t have a single issue with anything being bumped or broker. They did an excellent job with everything especially considering that our move was a number of states away. In the end they charged us a fair price and they were very good at that they do. Thank you very much. Definitely recommended.

Avoid Avoid - Read this before you book.

Dont be fooled by the good overall review, READ before you book them

My experience with purple heart have been really bad for the following reasons:
- They are not actually a moving company as they advertise, they are brokers, I could have booked with the US movers "which is the company that moved my stuff" directly and saved money.
- They will give you many false info before you book, once you book and pay, they know you can't cancel as you will lose money and it is too late to find a different company, they lied to me many times, and were rude about it
- When I booked, I was promised that they will confirm the pick up date a week before, they confirmed 24 hours before.
- they promised that my stuff will be delivered within 2-5 days window. my stuff were delivered 17 days late. I moved to a new city 6 hours driving from the original one not only they lied about it, they were very rude that it is in the contract that they can be up to 30 business day late.
- they estimate your cost depending on what you provide them, they calculate higher space for the boxes, etc to be on the safe side and they tell you that when we put the boxes in the truck we recalculate, that was a lie, they did not.

I would avoid them at all cost.

Do Not Use!!

Absolutely awful experience!! Initial agreement with Purple Heart for a long distance move from Michigan to NY. Purple Heart sub contract job with a third party mover. Third Party (Budget Moving & Storage, LLC - Rockville MD) arrived late (Sunday, June 23), subjected client to extreme duress during on site decisions before departing at midnight and compiled excessive up charges for 'additional' space. When asked when delivery would be, driver stated that his office would call. Move is 675 miles and at 9:30am the following day (6/24) driver called with update he would be at location that day (no way is this possible). It was communicated numerous times that delivery location was not available for three days after pick up (6/27). Budget MS LLC made decision without consultation to deliver items and store at own facility. This scam was planned the minute the movers left the initial driveway. Calls to Purple Heart and Budget MS LLC (a) unanswered or unreturned (b) given multiple stories on where exactly possessions were (c) full of lies and deceit with changing stories day to day. Eventually established a delivery date with additional $1200 for re-delivery and storage charges. When challenged with clarification on why to the additional charges, representative threatened to “turn truck around with your stuff.” Current goal to get our possessions back and then will file complaints with all moving, business and social media outlets. Both companies are practicing extortion practices from the minute a deposit is made. This scam was planned the minute the movers left the initial driveway.

Rip off!!

I called the Purple Heart Moving Group and spoke with one of their senior moving coordinators. I told him we needed a mover to pick-up our belongs from WA and ship them to IN. He asked for a list of the stuff that we wanted to move. I provided him with a list, but told him I was driving and wasn't at home so the list was an approximation.

He estimated it out to 500 cubic square feet and gave me a price for the total move. I was told to put $1,354.55 down, pay $900.00 when the movers arrived, and pay the rest upon delivery. When I got home, I called and told him it was closer to 800 cubic square feet. He said don't worry about.

The representative also said that our belongings would be delivered on the 8th, but if we needed storage that would be provided for 30 days at no cost. He said the movers would arrive on either 28th or the 29th of April.

I was called several days later and told the movers could deliver our belongs up to 21 days after the requested delivery date of May 8, 2019. I tried to cancel and asked for a refund, but a Purple Heart Moving Group's customer service repetitive assured me she would fix it. She switched movers and said our stuff would be delivered no later than 14 days after the requested delivery date. I still wasn't happy, but I agreed.

I was called several days later and was told that the movers would be at our home on April 29th between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. I was also told that they would call a half hour before they arrived. At 11:45 a.m. I still have not received a phone call so I called the Purple Heart Moving Group. A customer service repetitive, said that she would look into it and call me right back. A hour later, I called again and spoke with a different customer service manager. She too said she would look into it. I was finally told the pick-up would take place between 4 and 6 p.m. Again, I was not happy.

Finally after many phone calls, the movers showed up at 8 p.m. and wanted over $7,000.00 to complete the move. By this time it was too late to hire anyone else, or move the stuff myself. I had to hand over the keys the next morning at closing.

Finally, they dropped the price to $5000.00 flat rate (and wanted to $2,000 at pick-up) which is approximately $1200.00 more than the original quote. The movers didn't finish loading our belongings into the truck until almost 2 a.m. We ended up having complains logged against us by several neighbors for the noise.

What's ironic is the movers were able to pack all of our belongings in a 800 cubic square feet 16' long Budget rental truck. Which means that the 1,200 cubic square feet price of $5,100.00 was completely incorrect. I have copy of the Interstate Bill of Lading Contract and Order for Service which clearly states the total cubic square feet is 1,000 total cubic square feet. Therefore 1,000 cubic square feet times $4.25 (pleased see the original contract signed on April 23, 2019 which locked in a rate of $4.25) would only equal $4,250.00

The bottom-line is we were quoted $4.25 a cubic square feet. So even if our belongings totaled 820 cubic square feet. The total price should have been $3,485.00.

My advice is to stay away from this company.

Long-distance move from Denver, CO to Palm Springs, CA

Horrible!

Shame on me for not checking these reviews 1st.

When the moving company 1st came to move my furniture out of my house in CO, one mover showed with a guy who was from a day-hire company. He'd never moved before. He had to be instructed on each and every detail. He was not self regulating at all. There was so much to do, I ended up taking apart and wrapping my own stuff, and trying to get this new guy to help me. Finally I asked the main guy (Jessie) who was great, but didn't have appropriate help, if he couldn't call someone else in? He did this, and it took the guy 1.5 hours of bus rides to get there. Between the 4 of us, it still took 7 hours to do the job. Also, the price is over double what I was originally quoted. My stuff is supposed to show up in CA on Sat. I have been calling the "customer service" dept for 4 days, and no one returns my calls. I reached out to my main sales person, Josh, who said he would look into it, but silence there too. I've tried to ask for Michael Robinson, the QA manager, and apparently he's not involved after you sign the contract. Huh. QA they call it. They are telling me that the billing dept will reach out to me, but they can't give me a number or email address for them. They've lied throughout the process, and the "customer service" women are rude and defensive, although you've been put through all this crap. They don't understand or care. "You're not the only customer, ma'am" is the response I got after explaining being ignored and all the work I put into the move. And she rudely told me that for the amount of stuff I had, 2 movers should have been plenty, and I shouldn't have needed to help. We finished everything at 6 pm WITH my help, and I worked my butt off. Now they can't give me a delivery date, although I was told a date when Jessie 1st came. I have a job, and maybe can't take off on whatever date they choose to come.

This has been a very frustrating experience, and the staff at this company DO NOT CARE about you, your experience, or your things. I'm seriously feeling like I'm going to need a lawyer, because I have not trust for what's going to happen next.

Moving Review.

If I could give zero stars, I would. Worst experience ever. When they finally showed up (4 hours late), the movers said I needed to pay them an additional $1,000 in cash for them to move one bedroom. Not a one bedroom apartment, but one bedroom! This was after spending the day with multiple phone calls to customer service. I was hung up on, lied to, and eventually they wouldn't take my calls.

DON'T use this company. DON'T waste your time. It is a scam.

Scam.

Beware! This company is a scam. They will tell you they are movers and offer discounts based on Military and for paying CASH deposit. They are brokers who sell your move and change quotes and promises. We had a horrible experience with Purple Heart Movers and lost $1550.00.
They will tell you none of the negative reviews about them are real; so I will provide names, dates and a quote number as proof of interaction with this company. They have a system to scam. Please don't fall for it like we did. Check BBB, this company has a C- rating. Go past the 3 good reviews on Consumer Affairs to see the continued 1star reviews and scams.

Estimate Number CA2278923
On 8/15/19 Nick Didio told us PHMG was a moving company who would take care of our move from Houston to San Antonio. I am 7months pregnant; have a 2year old and a 4 year old. Nick spoke with myself and my husband taking full inventory of our home and what needed to be moved. He offered us a discount based on my late father-in-laws time in the services, as well as a discount to pay the deposit in CASH. A do NOT EXCEED move rate of $4900 was quoted with 1444 Cubic Feet listed on our quote and deemed by Nick as a large over estimation on his part with lower rates to happen on move day with his movers.
On 8/21 I called to confirm our promised pack date of 8/23 and move date of 8/24 with PHMG; only to learn customer service department was HORRIBLE and PHMG was NOT NOT NOT movers, but rather a BROKER company who sold our move to American Knight Movers. WE asked to cancel our move because Purple Heart was NOT moving us as promised. We were told we would loose our entire deposit. We spoke with Nick Didio again who reassured us once we spoke with Kevin in Quailty Assurance everything would work out and not to read reviews online because they are fake and put their by competitors.
I spoke with Kevin and went through my entire home with him again for inventory purposes. He said we had everything listed on inventory, but it had been entered incorrectly (like whicker furniture instead of patio furniture). He said it would take a while for him to correct the inventory list. Then we received a new quote from Nick saying our move would now cost $11275!! Kevin changed or Cubic feet from 1114 to 2362 with no additional furniture or boxes listed??
My husband lost his job when oil recession hit in 2016; we have been making it work ever since, decided to move back to San Antonio to have help with our 2 almost 3 children. There is NO way we could afford a move this expensive and never would have used this company had this number been presented as the beginning quote. Kristin and Mercedes in customer service refuse to refund the deposit and show no sympathy for the way this transaction was performed.
We had to cancel the move and PHMG refuses to give us the deposit back stating we are out of our 5 day cancel window. The loss of such a large sum of money for no services rendered has been a devastating blow to our family. Please beware. Follow your gut, do NOT trust people over the phone and do your due diligence. There are close to 90 complaints on BBB and this company has a C-rating. We trusted Nick and fell for this hook line and sinker.

Horrible experience.

The company is not trustworthy! Do not use if you want quality service. I contacted this company because it was going to give me the most affordable price for my mom’s move from PA to FL. The price ended up climbing up along the process and increased by over $2500. The company does not communicate the moving process well and how they work with other companies that will take care of my belongings. Belongings are placed in storage room until it is convenient for them to transport them to desired destination. This company promises the best service without telling the details.

Long-distance move from Stockton, CA to Marana, AZ

BIG thanks to all of you.

This is our very first time using a moving company. As I am retired from the military, I went with Purple Heart. I should have thought something was up when Josh from Purple Heart kept pressuring me to send him photos of items we would be moving. I finally got the list to him and he gave me an estimate of $5,000 - and that sounded fair. Then I did the final inventory list two days before the movers were due to show up and now my estimate when up to $10,000 and on top of that, the storage fees went from $400 to $800!! We would have needed the storage for four months.

So by the Grace of God, I called a national moving company to see if I gave them the cf or weight of PH's estimate, they would be able to give me a quote. The young girl I spoke to asked if we had paid a deposit with the current mover. She explained to me that the deposit was an indicator that we had contracted with a broker, not a mover.

Things started to really stink at this point. I had done some research on PH and they were good reviews. After I found out what the broker deal was all about, I found these reviews and knew that I had to cancel that contract.

They really know how to screw you at every level. They set the move date to 10/11/19 and then they call you for the final inventory two days before. In order to get my deposit back, I would have had to notify them 5 days before the move date. So, there is NO way I could get my $1,500 back. They were going to hit my bank account for another $300 and I closed that account immediately. They are very sneaky with how they took money out of our bank account. I gave them the routing and account numbers and then gave them a check number. This way you cannot put a stop payment on the check!

So, I am very grateful I found these reviews because I know things would not have turned out very well. I lost my deposit but at least I didn't have anymore disruption to my life by using Purple Heart.

Great move!

Purple Heart was very careful with all of my belongings and moved us very fast. The price was more than reasonable. In fact, out of the 15 or so companies I contacted for pricing these guys were the most affordable. Their movers were polite and really went above and beyond for us. Not only did they do what we asked but they made sure that everything was exactly the way we wanted it before they left our new house. I have used other movers and NONE of them have had this kind of attention to detail.

I will be using Purple Heart for EVERY move I have in the future. They were wonderful movers and I have no regrets about hiring them. Thank you so much guys for all of your help. I really appreciate your excellent service.

Careful With Belongings, However Late.

As a medical student, I was offered an intern position across the country. With my long hours at the hospital, there was no way I was going to be able to pack all my belongings and worry about moving. A colleague told me about Purple Heart Moving Group, so I gave them a call. I told them my sense of urgency in getting everything packed up for me and hiking it from Florida to Texas. They were able to schedule my move within three weeks. I was only required to do a walk through with them and then left my belongings in their trusted hands while I returned to the clinic. They wrapped and boxed everything with care. I headed to Texas a couple of days ahead of them and they were right behind me as promised.

While they were scheduled to arrive on Tuesday, they did not show up until Thursday. They stated there was a mix up with what truck would be bringing my things to Texas. While this did not pose a life altering issue for me, it was a bit frustrating. The two gentlemen did work tirelessly to unload all my belongings and I had to show them what room each item was to be placed. I am pleased to say that once the truck did arrive, everything went smoothly and they were able to relieve the stress of moving across many state lines in making sure my personal items did remained safe and everything arrived in one piece. I would recommend Purple Heart Moving Group if you are looking to move locally or across the country. You may have to give yourself a window of time to allow your items to be delivered, but overall they did a good job.

Happy customer.

We had to move our home and store our items in four 16' containers. Pricewise they were by far the cheapest and beat out all other quotes including Pods. Delivery was prompt and timely. The team they sent to load the containers were great. They packed those things so tight and worked tirelessly to get the job done all on the same day.
We stored all our worldly possessions with them for a month and then they redelivered and unloaded.

They clearly cared and wanted to make our move as smooth as possible. We have 3 kids under 3yrs! and had to move on a specific date. I had no issue with this company..they was able to get our stuff to us on time. The moving guys arrived promptly and unloaded with zero problems or fuss.

We have to give a special THANK YOU to the workers and the container truck driver. He was amazing.

Moving 3 Hours Away.

This company is the worst I have ever experienced. I am retired military with 28 years of service. I have moved lots of times. I wish they would change the name of this company. It's just a ploy to make you think that this company is something honorable and professional. Well, it is not. They tell you lies and they change the prices every time you speak to them. They are not there for you. They don't do a follow-up and once they have your money they kiss you goodbye. They get you because they know that at the last minute you probably won't be changing companies. All they do is take your money and subcontract you to another moving company. They hadn't even passed my updated information on to the subcontracted company that they used. I had to waste all this time on the phone arguing back and forth about the terms, agreement and conditions. They just leave you hanging. I don't even think they own their own trucks. This company is shady, shady' shady at best. If you see the name Purple Heart Moving Group run!!

I highly recommend Purple Heart Moving Group. Not sure what would have been if I had not hired them to coordinate my move! Superb job assigning the right fit of professional mover for my locations of pick up and drop off. From the booking, the customer service department and even the gentlemen at my pick up and delivery everyone super pleasant professional and accommodating. Top Notch!

This company is top notch! I have now used them twice. The first time was for a smaller in-state move but they were wonderful. They made the work look easy and never complained once. The workers were tireless and professional. Everything made it to us on time and in tact so when we needed to relocate out of state 6 months later Purple Heart was our first call.

Again, everything was done on time. The guys were strong and hardworking but also very kind and accommodating. I wouldn’t hesitate at all to have Purple Heart back in my home. I highly suggest them for your next move. Literally everything, from the customer service staff that handled our booking to the movers themselves were great.

Read This Review Carefully Before Choosing Purple.

I have never had a desire to write a review of a company until my experience with Purple. We needed to relocate across the country and needed to move most of our belongings and our vehicle with us. We looked up a few of different moving companies and settled on purple because they ended up giving us a quote that was within our price range that we wanted. We told them we needed to move our belongings and a vehicle. We went through a rough estimate of what was in our house and storage and they gave us an estimate for our belongings and vehicle.

We thought everything was good to go until they called to verify our inventory. When they did we had to change a few items. We were no longer bringing things like our fridge, washer and dryer, patio furniture, couch and few other larger items but our boxes estimate had gone up about 20-25 boxes. When they asked us about how much space it took up we told them and they said. “Oh that’s almost 3 times what we quoted you, we are going to have to up your estimate.” We discovered the sales person Nick greatly underestimated our quote as far as cubic feet in order to get our business with them, then when the actual cubic feet came to be it was too late to get a refund on our deposit so we were stuck having to use them. Our options were either to pay the additional money or have to leave half of our stuff.

When I inquired about the vehicle they told me that there was no vehicle on our estimate. When I sent them the original estimate I had received with the cost of the vehicle they told me that amount was not included in the original estimate like I had been told and it would be another additional $2,000 charge to move my vehicle. So before we even got to move our stuff we were already looking at almost $5000 in additional charges that we were not estimated.

I know this is a long review but stay with me because it’s not even over yet.

When the movers arrived they informed us that they would not move anything that was not in a box. But that we could purchase boxes from them for $20 a box. Then after they packed up all the stuff told us to expect delivery anywhere from 2-20 days from then. When we did get our 24 hour notice of a delivery date the driver called us on Saturday and told us that he would be there Sunday morning. Which would have been fine except the only payment they would accept is a postal money order or cash. In the area I live the post office and banks aren’t open on Saturdays and Sundays so I had no way of getting a postal money order or the large amount of cash I still had to pay. They offered to wait until Monday for delivery as long as I was willing to pay $360 for the driver to wait overnight. When I called purple about our dilemma the customer service agent Mercedes was extremely rude and told me I was out of luck and it’s my fault because I should have been better prepared for our move.

With all of that being said, I would pick a different moving company who is actually a moving company instead of just a broker/middleman which is what purple is. It may cost more but by the time you are done with purple you will probably be paying more anyway as well as wanting to rip your hair out. I would give them zero stars if I could.

Local move within Virginia

Moved from FL to VA.

Moved from Orlando, Florida to northern Virginia. I initially requested a quote from one of those sites that asks you to put in how much stuff you need to move then gets quotes from different companies. I received quotes ranging from $5000 to $8000 to move a two bedroom apartment worth of furniture. My last move from Maryland to Florida was about $3000 8 years ago so I was thinking it would be in that same range. I then found Purple Heart, my initial quote was for $2800. I thought wow that’s cheap. So I went with them. I had to do a large deposit of $1000. I thought that was too much for a deposit just to hold a date. The movers arrived of course not during their initial time frame of 10am to Noon but close to 4pm. I told them it could get tough with parking due to living in an apartment complex with limited space. I packed my own household goods. During the process the lead mover did tell me I was going over the square footage of the initial quote and I could owe more. Since I needed for them to take everything I told him to continue and I’ll pay extra. The extra amount ended up being $1300. Yucks! Part of the issue was my very large sleigh bed and pillow top mattress set. I also had ten extra boxes. So I just went on and paid it. Luckily they took a check. No telling what would have happened if I didn’t have it. Downside, most of these moving companies only deal with cash and postal money orders. I wouldn’t need my furniture for three weeks so the price included storage. Fast forward to delivery time. The dispatch reached out to me four days before delivery to confirm everything. Great. Day of delivery we went from the company would be here around 9am to the didn’t arrive until 3pm. This time in a semi truck size moving truck. The mover initial told me they weren’t sure they could deliver because the truck could get stuck in the apartment complex parking lot once residents return home and the lot begins to fill up. Needless to say they were able to deliver my furniture and boxes. I did have two wooden furniture pieces damaged. My TVstand, which I wasn’t too concerned about because I was getting a new one and was just going to use the old one for another room. But my book case which I loved was ruined. I haven’t gone through all my boxes to see how everything else faired. It’s cold and rainy on the day of delivery so some of my softer items did get wet. I would recommend the company, just be ware of the extra costs if you have large furniture. Oh, have drills, screwdrivers and other tools on hand. Both times the movers didn’t have the tools to break down beds and tables. They ended up using my tools. Over all I would give this moving experience a B minus.

Awesome.

This company was awesome. Every one of their employees was nice to us. They were quick but very careful not to cause any damage to anything. I felt like as customers we were a priority and they were respectful to our whole family. I didn’t have damage to any of our belongings and they didn’t lose anything in transit either. Long-distance move from Wichita, KS to Santa Fe, NM

Great service!

I used Purple Heart Moving Group to move my mother and father from Wichita Kansas Santa Fe New Mexico, so they could be closer to the rest of our family. I had to set everything up remotely and was very concerned about how I was going to figure everything out. When I contacted Purple Heart, I explained the circumstances of this move and they were so understanding about my concerns. The rep I talked to even suggested that the movers do all of the packing for my parents. I didn’t even know that was an option! I looked at a few other companies, but ended up coming right back to Purple Heart. I just felt more comfortable talking to them. Move day went smoothly from what my parents told me. The movers came in and packed everything up and were very friendly to my parents (who can be a bit on edge as they get older). 2 days later, the movers got to my parents new home. They basically staged the house for them. They put all of the furniture where it was needed and put all of the boxes in the rooms my mother pointed them to. I would have had to take off so much work and make multiple trips to and from if I did this on my own. I am forever thankful to Purple Heart for helping my parents move.

Long-distance move from Denver, CO to Omaha, NE

Our Moving Experience.

Me and my girlfriend used Purple Heart Moving Group last month when we moved from Colorado to Nebraska and in hindsight I would honestly recommend them to anyone. Initially the move went great but upon delivery we noticed a few of our boxes missing along with a foosball table. I started to really panic and called the customer service line immediately! After a few hours I received a call back and Purple Heart was able to track down my foosball table and boxes. I was so relieved! I was really worried that I would never see my stuff again but Purple Heart Moving Group really went above and beyond my expectations as far as communication and organization. Would recommend to anybody whos moving soon!

Great experience.

Everything about my experience was great. Even from the first phone call they were helpful. There really wasn’t any step of the process that wasn’t made easier with Purple Heart and their help. They gave us a very accurate, useful, and affordable quote that they honored. We didn’t pay a penny more than we expected. They coordinated everything so it worked with our schedule which was really important because my husband was starting his new job and we wanted a chance to get settled in before that happened. Thank you really doesn’t even begin to express how appreciative I am both for the excellent service and for the excellent team provided to us.

Damage Damage Damage..

A Big NO NO. They arranged other mover and don't have own movers. Damaged $4000 worth of items and the insurance paying me $166. When I ask Purple Heart about the damage, they say, it's not their job and asking to fight with insurance. I am utterly disappointed and please go for other trusted movers. Judge yourself. All the best if you still want to go with them.
