Long-distance move from Miami, FL to Silver Spring, MD

Quality Movers.

I am a nervous nelly by nature and moving to across states is extremely stressful, specially when you have a lot of sentimentally valuable things. This company made the process so much smoother than expected. I was impressed by how courteous and professional the movers were. All my loved items arrived intact. They loaded the truck so quickly and reassured me everything was going to be ok and it really was.

I do not plan on moving for a couple of years but when I decide to move back to my home state I will definitely be using these guys again.

Friendly, Safe, Efficient.

After hitting thirty years old, it was apparent that I needed to stop asking my friends to help me move. I also have accumulated enough nicer furniture that I don't know if I would trust my friends to help me move.

Together, my wife and I decided to hire movers for our big move. We were going from an apartment and storage unit to a full house. Buying a home comes with enough stress, that moving wasn't something I wanted to worry about too much, and with Purple Heart, I didn't have to worry at all!

They showed up a little early, which is really nice, because being late to anything make me crazy. They got everything packed up pretty quickly and I was very happy with the secure looking truck load.

They met us at the house once everything was loaded and the unloading was done with the same care.

We were also very happy that it's a family owned company as we like to support small business when we can. When we move on to our next home, I'm sure we will be calling purple heart again!

Long-distance move from Louisville, KY to Atlanta, GA

Moving fron one state to another.

BIG SCAM!!
Terrible nightmare to book a moving with this company. Very poor customer service. They book you telling you lies and false promises, then they do not answer the phone calls. This person called, Michael Robinson, convinced me of booking with them telling me a bunch of lies and inadequate information. Pick up was terrible since these guys, with no ID's, get to your house with a totally new contract and fees when you already signed an agreement and payed a deposit. We did not had the time to cancel.
Then waited 21 days for delivery because the company they hired, supposedly, did not have the correct info about our moving. It was only because a guy named Juan Santiago from Doo2Door moving, the company they hired, got involved in our case the things started to move a little.
21 days passed with no bed, clothing, kitchen things, personal items and nobody cared.
Finally a date was set for delivery and the delivery people resulted to be unprofessional, very bad attitude, intimidating and tired after a long drive. but these people confirmed what we expected, original estimate was not taken into account by the company purple heart hired and they overcharged for the space.
we payed a lot more for a big scam.
these company should not be allowed to do business in usa.

Official company response

We apologize for the inconveniences with your move. We do have notes on file stating your first available delivery date (FADD) was 6/23. This means the delivery window is estimated at 3-10 business days, starting from that date. This information is stated in our contract as well.
Our customer service department should be your main point of contact throughout your move as we are 24/7 and we are happy to assist customers with any and all questions they may have throughout their move.
We have multiple notes on your file that we have been in communication with you as well as completing conference calls with you and the carrier.
We will be submitting your file to our billing department as well as following up with the carrier to see if there is anything we can do on our end.

Great Movers.

Purple Heart Moving Group was very pleasant to work with. Moving across state lines can be really stressful, but PHMG made me feel like I was in good hands from beginning to end. The office staff made sure I was clear on the cost of the move and all of the steps that would be taken to make it happen.

The movers arrived promptly, loaded and unloaded my stuff efficiently. They even provided the packing materials! All of my belongings arrived at my new home on time, safe and undamaged. They were attentive, listened to my concerns and treated my valuables with care. I also liked that the moving and storage are done by one company - it made the whole process a lot more convenient.

The cost, the performance of the moving crew and the professionalism of the staff exceeded my expectations. Overall, I was very satisfied with my experience and would definitely recommend!

Use a Different Moving Company.

We spoke to Nate on June 12th to set up our dates for movers to pick up in NC & when to be delivered in CO. Nate told us we would receive our furniture w/in 3-7 days of desired date & that they had another office in Colorado where our furniture could be stored for 30 days free of charge if our house was not available. Now they have had our furniture for over a month & we have been living like squatters in our home. When we call, no one will give us a straight answer if someone actually answers. We have tried contacting Nate through phone & email. He just sends our messages to the customer service department who won't provide us with any answers if they do contact us. When you do call you are sent thru sent this cycle of holds & transfers to only be told they do not know anything. This has all been incredibly frustrating & challenging living in our new house now for over 3 weeks with zero furniture & none of our belongings. This companies reviews need to be checked for authenticity!!

A Nice Experience.

I was so impressed with how work focused and professional the movers where normally movers that I have experienced from other companies have such outrageous prices it makes your head spin, but that is not so with divine moving and storage. Their prices where affordable their customer services impeccable and the overall experience was pleasant and memorable. I recommend them to anyone in the new york area interested in moving and or storage facilities.

Long-distance move from Maitland, FL to Staten Island, NY

Beware of Fraud.

I live in New York and had furniture in my condo to move from Florida back up north and for starters Purple Heart is not a moving company, they are a broker and they find other companies to move your furniture, that is the first mistake. I thought I was getting a reputable moving company and I got Pac N Go movers which is a 2 brother and wife operation. They showed up a day late which I had to change my flight and cost me $75 to change, they showed up at 4pm when the window was 8am-12, they lost some of my property which they are not responding to now. The quote I got from Purple Heart was $1000 less than my quote at pickup. The furniture was suppose to take no more than 21 days and it took over 30. The customer service is horrible, they lie to get you off the phone. The only nice people were the young 20 year old kids that delivered the furniture, even that was going to be 3 people and was only 2 because the 3rd had no way to get home. This has been the absolute worse experience. Anyone reading this, go with a large reputable company, you know what you are dealing with and do not have to worry about lost and or damaged items.

Long-distance move from Tennessee to Florida

Love this company.

I was relocating from TN to FL and I had another company to move my belongings and on the day of the move, they bailed on me. With only 2 hours to spare, I reached out on the internet and Purple Heart Moving Group came to my rescue. The movers were pleasant and took time to pack my belongings very neatly and in a timely manner. My delivery time was right on schedule and they put together all belongings in the house. I recommend this company because they were very courteous and empathetic to my needs.

Long-distance move from Denver, CO to Montauk, NY

Horrible service.

Don’t use Purple Heart Moving Group.
I’ve had a terrible experience with Purple Heart.
Summary:
• I arranged for 2 separate deliveries. The first delivery was made about 6 weeks, and the second 8 weeks, after the agreed delivery date, despite Purple Heart’s providing an estimated delivery date of 4-14 business days from my first available delivery date. My first available delivery date was September 24, 2018.
• There was only one individual to pick up my items, so I had to assist with carrying heavy furniture to the mover’s truck.
• Purple Heart is a moving broker. Purple Heart hires moving companies to do the move. Liability for lost or damaged items is with the movers hired by Purple Heart. The customer’s contract with Purple Heart states that Purple Heart does not have liability for lost or damaged items.
• The mover hired by Purple Heart lost one item and damaged a few others. As reported on a local Colorado news station, the mover is under investigation for theft of customers’ property. The domain for the mover’s website has expired. I am not confident I will be able to receive compensation for the lost and damaged items and late fees.
• Purple Heart has a weak C+ rating from the Better Business Bureau. There are 30 negative reviews on the BBB site within the last year or so. There are also dozens of formal complaints on the BBB site. It’s not clear whether Purple Heart resolved these complaints to the customers’ satisfaction. According to the BBB site, Purple Heart has only been in business one year.
Details:
• Purple Heart gave me a 3 day window for pick-up. They said I would be contacted 24-48 hours before pick-up. I was not contacted until one hour before pick-up.
• I had to help move some of the heavier furniture including the mattress, because the mover had only one individual (the driver of the truck) to do the pick-up.
• Purple Heart advertises delivery within 4-14 days of my first available delivery date. The first delivery date provided to me was 13 business days after pick-up, but the delivery was not made on that date.
• On the 21st business day after pick up, I was told by email that the delivery “should be within the next few days.” That delivery window was missed as well.
• The third delivery date provided to me was 27 business days after my first available delivery date. That delivery date was missed.
• Finally, the delivery was made 33 business days after my first available delivery date.
• I was not notified in advance of any of the delivery dates that the delivery would not be coming.
• I was given the contact information of the driver making the delivery. When I contacted him to confirm the third delivery date, he did not respond to me until the morning on which the delivery was made, which was 8 days after the third delivery date.
• Originally I had arranged for a second delivery of a smaller number of items to my father’s house. That delivery was made 42 business days after my first available delivery date. 3 days prior to that delivery I was contacted by the driver saying the delivery would be made in a few hours, but the driver did not show up, did not contact me, and did not respond to my calls.
• Purple Heart told me I would be contacted within 24 hours of each delivery date. In both cases I was not contacted until the morning the delivery was made.
• There was one missing items and 2 damaged items on the first delivery. There may be missing items as some of the boxes came to me opened. I may not be able to remember everything that was moved, as these items belonged to my deceased brother and I packed them very quickly without taking a comprehensive inventory.
• Purple Heart claimed that I would be compensated for each day the delivery date exceeded 30 business days after the first available delivery date.
• It was reported on a local news show that the mover is under investigation for theft and damaged items. The mover’s website domain has expired. So I am not confident that I will be compensated for the lost and damaged items, and the late fees.
• On no fewer than 4 occasions, when I contacted Purple Heart, they could not provide me updated information, promised a call back and did not call me back.

Long-distance move from Raleigh, NC to Vail, CO

Moving Nightmare.

Moving nightmare. Stay away from this company. I had been in contact with this company for a move from North Carolina to Colorado. I was told by the company there was a driver available to complete this move. My belongings were picked up September 28th and I was assured they were en route--with an estimated moving time (per federal standards) of 4 to 14 days. It is now November 26th and I still have not received my belongings. After calling this company on nearly a daily basis for 2 weeks after my belongings still had not shown up and being left with no answers (or anyone answering my calls the majority of the time) other than that they were on their way and would have an ETA and driver information shortly it was finally revealed that my belonging were sitting in a storage warehouse in a location that could not be disclosed to me. When I signed the moving contract I was told that Purple Heart Movers used their own drivers but as soon as I signed the contract I was told that any further communication would be through a company called Moving Kings. I was to pay the costs in increments-- on signing the contract, on item pickup and on delivery. I got a call from someone the day of my move stating that I would need to pay the entire cost of the move up front so that it would be "worth it" to the driver. Later I was told this was a misunderstanding. I was also told my belongings were insured up to $30,000 and that after 30 business days (not disclosed--they count the days from after the earliest delivery date) I would get $30/day the items were late. Then the company backtracked and said I would only get $15/day and only if I signed a non-disclosure agreement. Nevermind that this move cost nearly $6,000. After over a month and a half of waiting for my items to leave their "storage warehouse" I asked for a refund so that I could just move the belongings myself. The representative responded, "had you asked two weeks ago I would've told you that it would be a better idea to get your things yourself as we did not have a driver." It was important to me to receive my items in a timely manner as moving costs were to be reimbursed by my work but could only be reimbursed after the move was complete. I asked that every cost (including shuttling to and from the moving truck to my apartment) be included in my contract so there would be no surprise fees. The company looked up my location on google maps and assured the shuttling cost had been included in the estimate. Now the company has communicated they will need another $250-450 to shuttle my belongings to my apartment. I live in the mountains of Colorado and had already moved for work. Winter started in October-- living in an empty apartment when temperatures near 0 degrees on a daily basis is extremely uncomfortable. This company showed no sympathy whatsoever. I am now out nearly $6,000 before the holidays and still don't have my belongings. Please stay far away from this company.

Long-distance move from Fremont, CA to Colorado Springs, CO

Premium price for below average move (poor customer service/time).

Not worth for the price (premium for below average move), headaches/pressure/stress at every step of the move.

Unfortunately. my experience with Purple heart movers(with real movers: Great American van lines) is not good (worse or more or less horrible holding customer hostage to pay extra or wont deliver and charge for the storage). Quote for the move for the large 2 bedroom apartment went up from $2700 to $3900 and then to $4300 (to rent truck). They talk nice initially and later they wont follow-up or notify about when driver would arrive(pickup or deliver) until you call them to push for desired move. Also, they(Purple Heart) consult/mediate with real movers to move the stuff. In this case, Great American Van Lines, came and raised the quote from $2700 to $3900 and then while delivering they raised to $4600 (came down to $4300). Even for the delivery, which was promised between 3 to 10 business days, did not happen until I had to make multiple calls to push for delivery of household stuff. Delivery is planned for 17th day after the pickup. Just to make sure that there were many items, Great American van Lines, disassembled some items(TV stand, steel rack frames, etc) into 5 to 8 pieces and made the grand total to >100 (109).

I would not recommend Purple Heart Movers as they are mediators who take a portion of entire move cost. Please go with Reputed Real Movers (who handle end to end move, which is more peaceful and same cost compared to these below average Movers (such as Purple Heart/Great American Van Lines).

Purple Heart Moving Company.

Beware this company does not move you! They are brokers for other unknown moving companies to move you. Their first quote is always a low fee to get you to sign then they make you pay 1/3 which is their broker’s fee. Afterwards when the actual moving company comes they increase that fee 50% threatening to cancel your move if you don’t agree aka extortion. Then they cover themselves by saying you signed all their agreements. Also they paid for their good reviews as advertising!

Long-distance move from Myrtle Beach, SC to Las Vegas, NV

Don't.

If I could give them zero stars I would. The whole process of dealing with Purple Heart has been nothing but frustrating, sad and causing us so much stress. Purple Heart is merely a broker, so the company they found, United Movers is who we unfortunately got stuck with. However, we were given the impression that PH had their own vans and trucks, very misleading. First, our truck was 2 days late to arrive. Now, we are moving from SC to NV with only a week for travel and my boyfriend needs to get back to work. No one seemed to care. We talked to so many customer sercice agents who sound like rehearsed robots. Also, Like many reviews we have said, we too were quoted a certain amount, only to be told upon arrival that we owed almost double that. This resulted in an immense argument, and we almost pulled out stuff from the vehicle ( should have). We did not give in and we finally reached a deal after about an 1 and a half hours of arguing. We were told about 10 days. To my shock they arrived in 9. However, the people who dropped off our stuff we had no clue who they were. Apparantly whoever Purple Heart brokered to, brought our stuff to another company in Las Vegas to then bring out stuff to our apartment. OK. Well we are NOW MISSING 5 BOXES. 5! And a bed frame. HOW?! And not small ones. We tried out best to pack our valuables but there are things in those boxes that are irreplaceable such a pictures, cards and sentimental items. The company from vegas said they brought what Purple Heart had given them. So clearly someone on the path has our stuff. I am floored at the lack of sympathy this company has. If they were in this position and lost so many things, I bet they wouldn't be so rude on the phone. It really blows my mind. This driver has 1 job. To get items to their homes. And they can't even do that. This company is also tarnishing the name Purple Heart by providing horrible service, as this medal means a lot more than that. I am hoping so hard to get our stuff back. But, please be advised and do not use them, but a budget truck and tow your car. That's what we will do next time. You cannot trust anyone. Purple heart will make you think they want to help you And "give you the best deal" but it's all scripted lines of people who don't care.

They did an absolute great job, when they left, I was 100% sure I am in good hands.
Every single item of my stuff was in the same condition at destination as it was during pick up.
I did not regret to chose this company. It wasn't cheap, nor expensive, good to find someone, who can do a quality job for reasonable price. Also it was a release to see the same faces 850 miles away..
I definitely recommend this company.

Did not show up and no refund.

I have never been so dissapointed with a company, not only did they not show up to move my belongings but they also changed my contract to extend the moving window and did not refund any of my money- even though they canceled on me. I was moving across the country and got completely screwed over. Once they did not show up in the window after many phone calls I got ahold of someone who said they would at least refund my money. They then changed my contract to extend the window- without my approval and the next day told me they would not refund me because they finally found someone to move my things- at this point I was already across the country and had gotten other movers.

Not only did I have to find new movers to move my belongings across the country in one day I also lost all my money from Purple Heart.
Funny because I picked this company due to reading positive reviews but my recommendation is absolutely do not use.

Do NOT use Purple Heart Moving Company.

I’ve had a terrible experience with this company. I used this site to book with Purple Heart - for out of state. Since my husband is a Viet Nam veteran I believed that, given their name, they are connected in some way to the military - which they are not. They have absolutely NOTHING to do with the military award of a Purple Heart. They surely must have trouble sleep at night trading on the bravery of the USA military while taking advantage of people. One their sales team quoted me a "binding not to exceed" price with a guarantee we would pay no more than the price he quoted. On the day of the move, the team showed up a day earlier without notification. The second team showed up understaffed and somewhere between the first move to the delivery my bedroom set (which was expensive) had lots of damage (you have to understand the bedroom set was the only piece of furniture that they moved besides boxes and I did have some missing boxes.
Trevor & Mike from Purple Heart was unable to be reached (contrary to their claims on their website & voicemail) and I ended up paying close to $4K more than we were quoted as the moving companies held us "hostage" by refusing to finish the moves. Mike, Purple Heart & Trevor refused to return any messages and have basically disappeared. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS.
They lied from the beginning and completely overcharged me when all the other moving companies around us were half the price with much better reviews. They wouldn’t respond when I was complaining then stopped answering their phone which is absolutely unacceptable from what is supposed to be a professional company. I would highly urge you to look.

Run Away Quickly!

Don’t be lured in by the company name - RUN AWAY AS FAST AS YOU CAN! As mentioned in other reviews, Purple Heart Moving Group is not a moving company but rather a third party that collects its fee while drastically underestimating your load size and weight in order to book your move through them. Their deceptive business model preys on relocating families who have limited calendar flexibility. While held over a barrel (with movers waiting in their driveway, flights to catch and home closings to attend), these families are often asked to pay double the amount of their initial estimate. Because their options are so limited, many families end up succumbing to the scam and paying the increased fees.

My personal interaction with Purple Heart directly mirrored the experiences of so many other disgruntled customers. The load dimensions for our move, as estimated by the actual movers, was 70% larger than the estimate provided by Purple Heart. Making contact with Purple Heart on moving day to dispute the huge increase was difficult at best. Once contact was made, no one was willing to take accountability for their profoundly inaccurate estimate. After an hour on the phone with no reasonable resolution reached, I put Purple Heart on hold and made arrangements with a legitimate moving company for my family’s move. I then politely asked the movers to leave, thereby cancelling my contract with Purple Heart. Since Purple Heart Moving Group provided absolutely no value to me, and their fraudulent estimate voided our contract, I requested a full refund of my deposit, which they denied, citing that the deposit was non-refundable. Therefore I’ve enlisted the support of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, Better Business Bureau of Southern Florida and my credit card company in effort to recover my deposit.

Please don’t make the same mistake that I made along with so many others! Book your move directly with a legitimate moving company.

Long-distance move from Chapel Hill, NC to Fort Collins, CO

Property largely damaged/destroyed, $$ in extra charges.

I am a strong support of Veterans and Service members, but Purple Heart Moving destroyed or significantly damaged most of my furniture during my move. My wooden furniture, was not wrapped up - the delivery movers said it looked as if the pieces had just been throw into the truck - ad arrived broken and scratched. My new mattress was partially wrapped in a black garbage bag and is too filthy to use and must be thrown out. My bicycle is broken. Art was not even bubble wrapped and also arrived destroyed.

Customer service has been very unreliable, unhelpful, and disagreeable. I had to call multiple times to find out my pick up, and they finally told me less than 4 business hours before movers were scheduled to arrive. When movers actually arrived several hours after their arrival window, customer service was unapologetic and told me the window was irrelevant. I had to pay more than $1500 over the initial estimate, including $400 in cash when the movers arrived--they told me that if I did not pay them the $400 in case they would not deliver my stuff. When the claims office was not available to me, they said there was nothing they could do. Purple Heart acts as if they are not responsible for the quality of my move, even though I have paid them thousands more than their initial estimate.

I have never written a negative review before, but because all aspects of Purple Heart were so horrible, and because I will need to replace thousands of dollars worth of property, I feel the need to warn others.

Avoid!

Since I have left so many reviews in so many different places for these people, this will be short and sweet. They get your business by giving a lowball offer, they sell to someone else who will add on a bunch at the time of moving because the "box count was off", or there were "specialty/different items that needed special handling/packaging", then typically it will be sold a third time, especially if you are moving out of state, and that company will charge you more. Been trying to recoup my joke of a claim for $500 for over 7 months now, and the party they sold my business to is now non responsive. Do yourself a favor and avoid this joke of a company.

Echoing Previous Sentiments.

Do not use this company unless you have a lot of extra money for unexpected fees. They lure you in with great sounding quotes, and seem organized in terms of dates and calculating your inventory, but it is clearly a ruse, because you end up with a nonbinding contract. They add extra fees for unexplained reasons in the middle after your initial quote, then eventually subcontract you to another moving company. This next moving company is free to change your initially requested moving/delivery dates/times, tack on extra fees on top of the initial quote, then hold your belongings hostage until you agree to the fees. The customer service for Purple Heart seems very nice, but they are unhelpful because they have no responsibility for your eventual move. The moving company Purple Heart contracted for me ended up losing one of my boxes, and there is pretty much no way for me to recover it or the costs of the items inside. Overall it is a well-oiled scheme to trick innocent families in to paying much more than they need to for a subpar moving experience.

Be aware.

My initial understanding was this was a local moving company. I was in California and this company is in Florida. For my move the outsourced my move it what I will describe as a mediocre company at best. The estimate for the cubic feet for my move was way off to begin with so the cost was much higher than expected. And that is where Purple Heart's involvement ended. I made one payment to this company then their involvement ended. Just be aware, if you are not in Florida you could end up with a company that may not meet your expectations for you move.
