Long-distance move from Buchanan, NY to Del Norte, CO

FRAUDULENT BUSINESS PRACTICES

This company must be investigated for violations of federal laws regulated by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA)! Moreover, I will be initiating a class-action lawsuit against OM Van Lines for the irreparable harm they have caused hundreds of consumers with experiences identical to mine.

On 6/25/26 - Alan Webster Of OM Van Lines provide me a written Binding Moving Estimate of $1,800.00 for a very modest shipment of personal property approximated (by Alan Webster) as a 2 - bedroom apartment from New York to Colorado. I took the time to go over in detail with Alan the contents of my move. I even got a tape measure and measured my chairs, antique desk etc.

On 7/7/26 three men and a woman arrived at my property to load my shipment. There was nothing remotely professional about these individuals. After loading my property in a sloppy disorganized manner, the driver, who spoke very poor English and was difficult to understand, informed me that the cost of shipping my property was now double the original Binding Moving Estimate - now - $3,600. This act of changing the cost of a Binding Moving Estimate after loading a person's personal property is illegal, because now you are stuck. My life was on their truck and I was flying to Colorado the very next morning.

After protesting adamantly, the driver settled on a price of $2,520 - 40% higher than the Binding Moving Estimate generated on 6/25/26. After some harsh words of rebuke I reluctantly signed the paper work. I was trapped!

This fraudulent Bait and Switch practice is illegal and has likely happened to hundreds of OM Van Line customers.

They will promise you the world with a low-ball estimate and then BAIT AND SWITCH!

It just got worse from there. Today is day 24 since they loaded my property in NY and I still have yet to receive a definitive date of delivery. After paying them $1,000.00 cash on 7/7/26 (for a total of $1,540.00 with the $540 deposit paid on 6/25/26) OM Van Lines is demanding a payment of $980.00 to release my property. This is extortion and what is recognized as a Hostage Load - which again is illegal.

Their customer service was beyond awful. They did not return phone calls or the multiple e-mails I sent them. I must have called over a dozen times. When I finally reached a woman in Florida she failed to provide the location of my property, contact information of the driver and expected delivery date. She also told me that I was lucky she took the call!

I want to ensure that this madness does not continue and consumers are protected from these fraudulent business practices. I will be setting up a class action lawsuit hotline against OM Van Lines shortly in a subsequent review.

Bait and Switch - Stay Away

Do not use this company. They will do multiple video calls to make you feel comfortable about the quote, yet on the day of move they will bump up the cubic feet requirements astronomically. I was give 3 different quotes over video call that ranged from 1300 cubic feet to 1600 cubic feet. On the day of move I was charged for 2500 cubic feet. However, when my items were delivered the content only occupied 1200 cubic feet. Stay away from this company. I have an ongoing complaint with Better Business Bureau as well. But it seems the company knows how to navigate those hurdles at consumer's dissatisfaction and cheating. STAY AWAY!!! Do not let George or Michelle convince you otherwise that the online reviews are fake or that customer added lot of items last minute. I have a proof that shows my content was less than 1200 cubic feet. When I submitted that proof, I was offered $500 to settle without them admitting any wrongdoing while they had over charged me by $2500.

Long-distance move from Newark, NJ to Wilmington, DE

The out of state move went great.

Moving across states is a very stressful thing to plan out, but OM Van Lines made it a breeze for me. As a single mother, I was looking for a company that could handle my move from New Jersey to Florida efficiently and with care, and I found exactly that in OM Van Lines.

From the moment I contacted their customer service team, I felt like a priority. They were friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely interested in understanding my specific needs. They provided me with a comprehensive quote that was surprisingly affordable considering the high level of service offered.

The moving team with crew leader Wilson arrived promptly on moving day, and I was immediately impressed by their professionalism. They took the time to carefully wrap and pack my belongings, treating even my most fragile items with the utmost care. I could tell that they were well-trained and had a genuine concern for my possessions.

Throughout the move, Michelle from customer service kept me informed and were always reachable whenever I had a question or concern. They delivered my belongings to my new Florida home on time, and everything arrived in perfect condition. The team even went above and beyond by helping me unpack and set up some of my furniture.

What truly sets OM Van Lines apart from other moving companies is their attention to detail and commitment to customer satisfaction. They took the stress out of a potentially overwhelming move and made it a pleasant experience. Their blend of professionalism, efficiency, and personal touch was a winning combination that left me more than satisfied.

I want to express my heartfelt thanks to the entire team at OM Van Lines especially Alex who was my salesperson for their exceptional service. I would highly recommend them to anyone planning a move. Their dedication and hard work made my transition from New Jersey to Florida seamless and stress-free.

Thank you, OM Van Lines, for turning what could have been a nightmare into a great move!

Long-distance move from Miami, FL to Chicago, IL

Last minute fees - Cash Grab Company

I spoke with Kellie in sales and she was lovely. Unfortunately, my experience with OM Van Lines after I signed the contract was nothing short of miserable. During pickup, it was also slightly chaotic but that is not why I am writing this review. Less than 24 hours before my delivery was supposed to arrive in Chicago from my Miami-Chicago move, they informed me that there will be an additional $350 shuttle fee. I got in contact with a manager, Lisa, who was extremely rude, argumentative, and made up her own legislation for the reasoning of the shuttle fee. I asked her to point out where in the FMCSA and DOT websites the rules she was mentioning are. She responded with a screenshot of ChatGPT, which, if you have ever gone to school, would know that it is not always reputable. I did my due diligence and spoke with the Chicago DOT as well as other shipping companies around the city which said that she is making things up as well. I kept on pushing because I quickly caught on that it is a cash grab. She proceeded to say that she has to “make dinner for her children” and that “when you have your cdl and drive a 76’ truck for a living then come back and tell me what your opinion is.” Very unprofessional company, and treat you like nothing after you sign the contract and get through the sales people.

The cherry on top, the truck driver Alex Gol, comes into the loading dock with my items. Most likely been informed by this Lisa character that I’ve been rude, he is stone cold. I tell him I can bring my stuff up to my apartment myself so that they cannot charge me for any other add-ons that they have. I told him “let me go upstairs to make sure my tv screen works” so I could plug it in. Fortunately for me it was fine, but I went back downstairs and he was gone. I called him, no response. Then I texted him and told him that he forgot his tip and he told me to Zelle him. What a joke! Mans wasn’t getting a tip regardless after the experience I had.

Definitely not happy

I would not recommend using this company. What they told me would be an eight hour move turned into a 12 hour move. The cost went up significantly.

When we discussed the move and talked about insurance, they advised me I didn’t need it because I was moving 20 minutes away. There were two major damages and several months have gone by and I’m getting the runaround about compensation at this point. No one is getting back to me or compensating me for anything. I am very disappointed, upset and frustrated at the way this is being handled.

Not trustworthy

At the recommendation of Alex Frost, I put down a $50 refundable deposit to reserve a date/truck for a small move I was doing. However, I decided to rent a truck and do the move myself. I notified him the next day that I was cancelling and to please refund the deposit which he said he would do. Long story short, after a month, and after a number of excuses and promises, no refund. I had told him at one point if I didn't get by a month I would dispute the charge on my card (I have), would post reviews sharing my experience (this is one), and send a letter to the Better Business Bureau. Maybe they would have done a good job on the move, but based on this I would not trust them

Long-distance move from Suffern, NY to Santa Fe, NM

Bait and switch!

Now that I have arrived in Santa Fe and gathered my thoughts, I can safely say that OM Van Lines is absolutely, 100%, a bait and switch operation. They outright lie as well as lie by omission. My original quote was $4,200 to move a small one bedroom apartment from Suffern, NY to Santa Fe, NM. My final bill was over $7,000. That's a 65% increase above the original quote. You may think I made a mistake or didn't understand how much stuff I was moving, but you would be wrong. I sent them photos and dimensions of everything I wanted moved. That's how they arrived at their original quote! The only mistake I made was signing a contract with these manipulative, deceitful scammers. Their business survives only because they count on clients apathy once their items have been delivered. NOT THIS TIME! I have no misapprehensions that I will ever see a dime from these shysters but I can certainly share my experience. This company doesn't have the integrity or the spine to address this. When I complained, they were rude, threatening, disrespectful, and didn't want to hear it. They actually tried to explain how difficult it was operating a moving company, and Santa Fe was REALLY far away. Well, as far as I know, Santa Fe didn't get further away from NY after they gave me the original quote. When they come to your home to pick up your stuff, they know they have you between a rock and a hard place and have no problem taking advantage of you. William, Charlee, Lisa Marie, and Michelle are liars, not nice people and the owner of this company should be ashamed of themselves. If a guy named Igor comes to your door to pick up your stuff, shut it immediately. You're about to be screwed. I'm preparing letters and evidence for attorneys general in NJ and FL and transportation authorities, TO START. I have much more to share but i'll let the investigators handle that.

Bait and Switch - Cash Grab

Worst Company to hire for moving. Wish I did a better search of reviews before hiring OM Van Lines. Similar to many reviews, copy gave initial quote and when they showed up to pick it items that price changed. Was told original estimate was for 1,732 cubic feet of truck space. I understand we can't estimate all our belongings correctly but the drive estimated that it would be 4,000 cubic feet when he arrived at my house. He did a quick walk through to see the items, which we had all the big items accounted for. Mind you they showed up with a truck that could hold 2,800 cubic feet so they needed to get a second truck on a Sunday. In order for them to take my furniture that was already packed for our move from NY to NC, i had to come up with an extra $3,000 on a Sunday.

Come to the delivery that Saturday, the 53 foot truck pulled up that could carry 4,200 cubic feet, thinking that this truck would be full seeing how I am paying for 4,000 cubic feet at this point. The doors to the truck open and our stuff only took up a little more than half the truck, at 2,400 cubic feet. Inside the truck they have markings so they know how much to charge you for. I asked the driver if all my self was there because I was charged for 4,000 cubic feet and he stated that it was. So my thought is that the employees picking up, do a horrible job packing the truck to overcharge, and then the delivery people pack the truck correctly so they can fit more stuff into the move. So I was overcharged for 1,600 cubic feet which was close to my original quote.

I tried multiple times to contact the company and got no where. Was told the manager would call me and never did.

At this point, I am writing a letter to the Attorney General in New Jersey where they main office is located. Based on a lot of these reviews and understanding that the more complaints the Attorney General gets on a company the better the results are, I would recommend everyone writing a letter to them.

Misleading Delivery Time Estimate and Price Quote

On my initial call with Frank, he estimated after going through my entire list of items that our move would cost around $2500 and also told me that our delivery would probably only take 4-5 days from pickup. Both of those estimates were grossly wrong. After pickup, when all of our stuff was already loaded, the movers told us we had gone over the estimated cubic feet and the new price was $4100. Their business model seems to be: purposely underestimate your cubic footage up front to get you to sign the contract and put down a deposit, as many other reviews here have noted.

Our pickup day was Friday 8/8/25. Delivery was Saturday 8/23/25, a full 15 days later. I didn't even get a delivery day estimate until 8/19. If I had known the actual price and delivery timeline up front, I never would have gone with this company. The only pros: the mover guys were friendly and fast, and they didn't damage or break anything major other than some smushed boxes and a broken wheel on a cheap IKEA file organizer.

If they are quoting you a price up front that seems FAR lower than other movers, don't believe it!

Buyer Beware...

Do NOT use them...They lie. Plain and simple. It all started with Darrin W (sales guy). We agreed on dates for pick up and when I called to confirm the next morning, Lisa (manager) states that she has no idea where Darrin got the date, but she couldn’t accommodate for at least three weeks later. Then we reviewed the limited list of items. I measured and had dimensions of everything. Was told if that’s what they were loading, my binding agreement is what it would cost. The truck arrived for pickup and the driver told me they under estimated the space and if he was going to load, I had to agree to more $$. I had no choice, I needed the delivery because many other deliveries were dependent on the contents being delivered by OM Vanlines. Prior to the delivery I called and discussed with Michelle (customer support) how they charged me more when they picked up vs what i got for a quote. I discussed the contents with Darrin/Lisa and we listed everything that was being moved. I provided measurements of everything and nothing changed from when i signed contract to when they picked up at my Gloucester house, yet i was charged an additional $600+. Her response was you should not have let them load. Looking back, she is 100% right. All three company reps were rude . In the end they also lost an eight foot ladder!! There’s more but I think you get the picture. Moral of the story - do not under any circumstances use there services.

Nightmare move with this company. Original quote was 2100, when they picked up my items final price was $5000. They delivered 10 days later after date I was promised I would receive my items. This group of men were professional.

Our experience with OM Van Lines involved two trucks and six men. They showed up on time for the packing. Not an easy task coming out of Jersey City during the morning rush hour. Every piece of furniture was protected. There were no damages, no missing pieces. Two days later they again showed up on time at our new home. Again, not easy because they had to travel from Jersey City to eastern Long Island, about 90 miles. Unloading was swift with no issues. Furniture taken apart was re-assembled perfectly. This group of men were professional and knew their business. There were no issues from the start to the finish. I would use OM Van Lines again, without hesitation. The company office staff and the truck crews relieved any anxieties we had going into this stressful part of our lives. This company made the move easy. Use them!!

Long-distance move from Harrisburg, PA to Pickerington, OH

AVOID AT ALL COSTS

I unfortunately am living and learning the hard way. I hired this company for a pack and move from Central PA to Central OH. I worked with Frank T., who seemed like a decent human being trying to do right and provide a solid service, even quite considerate and friendly with what seemed like sincere concern for helping with our move. I was quoted at right at $10k to pack and move the belongings from our 3-story townhome and our storage unit.

I had expressed concern multiple times about the space and that I was worried it might not be enough. Frank reassured me multiple times, as recently as 3 days prior, that I was in good hands and that we were all set.

When the movers arrived (5 men) I was told pretty quickly that my amount would be more before we even fully loaded my storage unit, likely $15k based on volume. Of course this was irritating and an expensive increase, but we were partially loaded and I was just ready to get the move over with. After getting back to the house and continuing the load, they ended up having to go rent an additional U-haul to fit all the items and handed me a bill for $23k. Not only was that more than double the estimated cost, it was after 6 and there was no way to get a wire or anything set up. So I ended up having to wait until the next morning to be able to pay it (which mind you, I had paid before 8 am). I do want to say here though, the team of movers I had were fabulous. They were kind, efficient, thorough and hard working (the only positive of this experience).

The move occurred on Monday with the expectation of delivery on Wednesday. I see an email Tuesday in the afternoon with an urgent message that my payment hasn’t been received. I call and Michelle informs me that because they were expecting a wire transfer they didn’t see my $11k credit card payment. Mind you, I’m getting this “urgent email” 8 hours after the payment had already been made. But due to this delay, which was their fault, suddenly my delivery date gets moved to Friday-Saturday. In this time frame I had also disputed the charged amount and shared my displeasure to which nothing was done. Initially Michelle was professional and still kind in her emails, by the end of our interactions she was rude, hostile and honestly, negligent about my concerns. As a person who works in customer service, her demeanor was less than impressive. Although, I imagine she spends her entire day dealing with angry people based on their garbage business structure, so maybe she’s hanging on by a thread herself. But either way, a horrific service experience.

Yesterday I get notified that our delivery will take place on Friday between 12 and 5. Then at 11, Michelle calls to tell me they had a cancellation for a delivery and my truck can deliver at 3 pm. Seemed odd since I’m at least 7.5 hours from their location in NJ, but I was ready to be done with them so I agreed. We were at the new house ready for them at 3, the truck doesn’t arrive until 4:45, no communication at all from him, but a man shows up at the house who had received a last minute call from the driver that he needed some help on a delivery. They had posted a Craigslist ad for help! This “professional moving company” was seeking out strangers to come into my home and handle my things. Absolutely unacceptable. I called to talk to Michelle about this and was completely dismissed. The driver spoke broken English at best and the actual person with him spoke even less. I had to pay cash and he wanted it immediately before even opening the truck up. He was rude, standoffish and even recounted the money I counted right in front of him. The two men he hired basically off of Craigslist (who fortunately turned out to be very helpful) did 10x more work than the driver, and based on the loud argument at the end of my driveway, he didn’t pay them well either.

Not all of my stuff was rebuilt, boxes were damaged, there was 0 care with the items and helping them get to their proper home, and the unprofessionalism across the board was nauseating.

Not only do I feel bamboozled, I am out a tremendous amount of money that I hope I can fight back for, but what an awful, awful experience. Save yourself the pain, hassle, financial distress and horrible experience. Avoid this company at all costs. Their business practice is garbage and I can assure you, you deserve better.

Untrustworthy

Avoid this company. My recent move with OM Van Lines was one of the most stressful and costly experiences I’ve had.

I received a binding estimate after providing a full room-by-room inventory and measurements. The company confirmed twice — including the day before pickup — that my shipment was still within the original estimate.

On moving day, the crew began loading without presenting any revised estimate. Only after the truck was fully loaded did the foreman provide a new “binding estimate” that was $2,000 higher than the original. I was told that if I did not sign and pay immediately, my belongings would be unloaded and left outside rather than brought back inside.

At delivery, I was charged an additional fee, and several items were damaged, including electronics, furniture, rugs, and household goods. Because I had to pay more than expected at pickup, I declined the optional insurance coverage.

I attempted to resolve these issues directly with the company, but they only offered small “goodwill” amounts that did not reflect the extra charges or damaged items. I ultimately filed formal complaints with state and federal agencies.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but I believe consumers should be aware of this experience. Based on how my move was handled from start to finish, I cannot recommend OM Van Lines.

OM Van Lines - Highly Recommended and will use them again

I was contacted by too many to name companies when I went online looking for a moving company. It was fate that I answered the call from OM Van Lines. The Rep that I spoke with was very informative, transparent as well as knowledged. She guided me thru the process efficiently and thoroughly taking my inventory. It was explained to me that the cost of the move was based on the space utilized on the truck and that it was imperative that I include absolutely everything that I was moving. I was very pleased and moved forward with a deposit on first contact, that's how confident I was with her proficiency. The rest of the moving process went exactly as she explained. Other people that contacted me from the company were just as informative and kind. I recommend OM Van Lines as a Moving Company and will share their name with family and friends that need moving services in the future. Thank You OM Van Lines for facilitating a wonderful moving experience. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

DO NOT HIRE THEM

I am submitting this incident report to document the repeated failures, lack of communication, and unprofessional conduct I experienced throughout my move.

The pickup of my household goods did not occur at the agreed-upon pickup time and was significantly delayed. During the pickup, I was verbally informed by the moving company that my belongings would be delivered within 3 to 5 days. However, upon reviewing my contract, I found that it states deliveries for shipments between 500 and 1,000 miles may take 10 to 14 days.

Throughout the 14-day contractual delivery period, I made numerous attempts to contact the moving company to obtain updates regarding the location and status of my shipment. My phone calls routinely went unanswered. On the rare occasions that someone answered, I was repeatedly told only that they would “find out” or “let me know,” but I was never provided with any meaningful information regarding the location of my belongings or an estimated delivery date.

During the few recorded phone calls I was able to have with the company, I clearly informed representatives that I would not be available to receive my shipment after June 28. Despite providing this information in advance, no effort was made to coordinate delivery within my available timeframe or provide adequate notice.

My interactions with customer service have been consistently unprofessional. Representatives have been dismissive, unhelpful, and at times rude. I primarily communicated with one customer service representative who repeatedly refused to provide the name or contact information of a manager despite my multiple requests. She assured me several times that a manager would return my calls, but no manager ever contacted me.

At one point, I was provided with a phone number and told it belonged to my driver after my shipment had allegedly been dispatched. I made multiple attempts to call this number without success and communicated through text message instead. I informed this individual that I would not be available for several days but would be available to receive my shipment on July 6. I was told I would receive a call on July 5 to coordinate delivery.

On July 5, after receiving no communication, I sent three text messages requesting confirmation that delivery would occur on July 6. I received no response. I also attempted to call but received no answer. When the individual finally answered on July 7, he informed me that he was not the driver, that I had been provided the wrong phone number, that he was only the dispatcher, that he did not know where my belongings were, and that he himself was unable to reach the driver.

I also contacted my original sales representative for assistance. She informed me that she was unable to reach customer service and therefore could not assist me with obtaining any information regarding my shipment.

Since then, the customer service representative has largely refused to answer my phone calls and will communicate only by text message. She has informed me that the office is closed, despite the company’s website indicating that the office is still open during those hours.

During this process, I have repeatedly requested compensation due to the numerous service failures and have asked the company to honor the original agreed-upon moving price of $1,900. Instead, I have been informed that I now owe approximately $2,450. My requests to speak with management and resolve these billing issues have been ignored.

I was also informed that the driver would contact me at least one day before delivery to schedule the drop-off. However, today I was told by customer service that my shipment is expected to arrive tomorrow, yet no delivery time has been provided. As of 6:40 p.m. today, I have still not received any communication from the driver confirming delivery or providing a delivery window.

Because I have received no advance notice from the driver, I am unable to request time off from work or make arrangements to be present for delivery. Despite the company’s failure to provide proper notice, I have been advised that I may be charged additional fees if I am unavailable to receive the shipment. I believe it is unreasonable and unfair to hold me financially responsible when the company has failed to communicate as promised.

This experience has been extremely stressful and characterized by repeated communication failures, misinformation, lack of transparency, poor customer service, and the threat of additional charges resulting directly from the company’s failures. I respectfully request that this complaint be investigated, that the company honor the original contracted price, and that appropriate compensation be considered for the inconvenience, lack of communication, and additional expenses I have incurred

Long-distance move from Florida to New Jersey

The worst kind of company!

Definitely scam artist. They get their moving guys from Craiglist. You don't know who is coming in and out of your house. Then the truck driver starts a fight with the workers to get their tip money. On our first experience he even went out of his way to get the police involved. So we are here hiring a moving company- to begin our new transition Florida to NJ -and suddenly the police is in front of my house for no damn reason.

They quoted us about $5-6,000 for the move and we ended up paying $10,000. They have a secretary - Betty - who definitely only graduated from middle school. Very slow, unprofessional, and uneducated, not just Betty but the entire team. Betty, the office secretary actually asked me if Hillsborough NJ was spelled hillsborrow, NJ. -Thats definitely when I realized that we were dealing with a scam kind of company.

Now let's move on to the actual move- my dresser was broken, my TV was broken, My picture frames were broken, my chair was broken. They turned all my expensive furniture into trash. Then they charge all this insurance and don't pay you for anything. These guys are the worst of the worst. Do some intensive research and find a company worth it, I don't wish my experience on anyone!
