I recently had the pleasure of using a moving company to help me with my move from New York to North Carolina. I must say, my experience with Santos, the team leader, and the company as a whole was absolutely outstanding! I cannot recommend them enough and would gladly give them a 5-star review.

From the start, the communication with the company was exceptional. They were responsive, informative, and made sure to address all my concerns and questions. They provided me with a detailed quote, outlining all the services they would be providing, and the pricing was fair and transparent.

On the day of the move, Santos and his team arrived promptly at the scheduled time. They were professional, efficient, and treated my belongings with the utmost care. They were well-prepared with all the necessary equipment and materials to ensure a smooth and secure move. Santos demonstrated excellent leadership skills, coordinating the team effortlessly and making sure everything was handled with precision.

Cross country move

If i could give negative i would. Items lost(i.e. suits that were packed in a box,tv,bedframes). Boxes were opened. Son had to unload the truck as it was only the driver and no additional help. Was told " it happens". Filed a claim and have heard nothing since. We're very dismissive.

Use this company if you want more stress

Moving is stressful enough, but this "company" takes it to the next level. Doubling the initial cost, lying about delivery dates, rude customer service, only accepting cash or postal money orders when furniture finally arrives. They actually gave us the wrong amount due on delivery so the movers stopped taking our belongings off of the truck. We had to go running around on Veteran's Day when post offices and banks were closed, while the movers sat in the truck. They refused to use the credit card that we used when they initially picked up our furniture. They even quoted us as having to pay them an extra $650 a day if we did not come up with the cash on Veterans Day. They have no concern for their customers, only for the mighty dollar. Stay away at all cost. By the way, they market themselves as OM Van Lines until your belongings are on the truck and then they give you the contract with OM Logistics and Trucking LLC on the top (has a D- Better Business Bureau rating). Very shady.

OM Van Lines will hold your belongings hostage

I recently had a horrifying experience with OM Van Lines that I feel compelled to share. Initially, our salesperson, Alex Frost, quoted us $3,375 for our out-of-state move, which seemed reasonable for a tightly packed 20 x 10 storage unit. However, once the truck was loaded and we were ready to leave, we were suddenly informed that the new price was just under $6,000!

This unexpected $2,500 increase was outrageous, especially since the company knew we were leaving that night for good and had no choice but to pay. When we challenged the additional cost, we were absurdly told it was due to the addition of a box of cleaning supplies, an ironing board, and totes. This explanation was completely unconvincing and felt like a blatant attempt to take advantage of our situation.

To make matters worse, the night before delivery (Saturday), we were informed that the 80-foot trailer (Note: section 3 of the Binding contract indicates customer should be able to accommodate a 53 ‘ trailer) would not fit on the road by our new home. We were told we would need to come up with an extra $1,500 in Cash within 18 hours or our furniture would be shipped back to New York, and we would be charged a substantially higher re-delivery fee. This last-minute cash demand put us in an impossible situation and added an enormous amount of stress leading to signing forms under complete duress with the only alternative of never seeing your belongings again.

In the end, we had to pay OM Van Lines a staggering $7,300 mostly in cash, far from sales rep Alex Frost’s calculation of $3,375 when we hired this “company.” To add insult to injury, several of our furniture pieces, including a vintage Bombay chest from my late mother, suffered severe damage and some of our boxes marked fragile were crushed and had footprints on them. This is no surprise, considering OM Van Lines uses day laborers from Craigslist to defer liability, and our items were loaded and unloaded by them four times during the NY to Florida move. The only bright spot was that the final two Craigslist day laborers were professional and more respectful of our personal belongings than any of OM Van Lines' employees.

Furthermore, OM Van Lines showed no concern for the condition of our items or the timing of their arrival. Their primary focus seemed to be on securing large cash transactions, regardless of the inconvenience and stress caused to us. Additionally, Michelle in customer service and Maria, the truck driver who shamed and intimidated me when we questioned being able to produce unplanned sums of cash on a Sunday. More specifically, OM’s idea of customer service is gaslighting the customer. Michelle will talk you in circles.

I would strongly advise against using OM Van Lines for your moving needs. Their deceptive pricing, unprofessional conduct, gaslighting, and last-minute demands for large sums of cash made an already challenging move far more stressful than necessary. Additionally, their use of Craigslist day laborers resulted in significant damage to our cherished belongings from deep furniture gauges to crushed boxes marked fragile with footprints as if damage was done deliberately.

There was a huge case in Florida several years back brought about by the AG that successfully targeted 10 companies for similar practices and it is appearing this company may have been one and reinvented itself with a new name given that under its current name has existed for three years despite their website claim they have been around for decades.

OM Van Lines is being given an opportunity to fix this issue with me. If they do not do so without further delay, I will pursue being made financially whole by them through whatever means necessary.

OM will hold your goods hostage

When I spoke to Gary from OM Moving, he told me that OM moving was not one of those companies that waits until they load and then holds your possessions hostage as the rate skyrockets. That was false, that is exactly what happened today.

I was on the phone when your crew arrived, they went through what we were booked for, how they do the BOL, took our information and my wife paid them the agreed amount.

AFTER they had the van loaded, they changed the price and demanded $853 for the $1703 increase in price. Our “Binding moving estimate”, quoted us 1000 cf. After they finished loading the foreman said we occupied 1450 cf. The driver yelled at my wife and asked if we wanted to have them remove the 450 extra cf of our belongings. I was on the phone with her hearing his man yell at her. I could hear my wife crying in tears as the foreman continually spoke over her and berated her for not understanding the increase in price.

My wife lost a day of pay on the moving day. We had scheduled the move for Sunday the 9th, her day off. I did OM Moving a favor and agreed to move it to the 11th. Her daily income is between 400-550 a day. So after giving up her money for the day we have to deal with this fiasco.

The driver was absolutely amazing! Knowledgeable, courteous and professional. He knew exactly what I needed right down to knowing how my items needed to be separated at Burlington Self Storage! Another mover assisted with the loading of my personnel in Pennsylvania. He was courteous and had a great sense of humor. A huge shout out to OM Van Lines! They made a monumental project seem painless. Our movers were pleasant, helpful, and worked in a timely fashion. From start to finish it was a pleasure. Alex was also a pleasure and easy to work with when he came out to do the estimate and Grant followed through to make sure I was happy with the job. I couldn’t have asked for more. Relocating after almost 20 years seemed daunting, but OM Van Lines' effort and efficiency was top notch!

On time also secured move

The team of four movers were on time, professional, and so helpful! There was no parking on my street on account of preparations for a parade and these guys secured the best possible parking spot. They moved all of my items carefully- nothing broke and nothing was lost. They even helped me arrange things in my new apartment. I would definitely recommend them to anyone moving. The price was right- I didn’t want to and didn’t have to lift a finger. All in all the move was done in 3.5 hours with a solid 30 minute drive to the new location.
