Long-distance move from Yakima, WA to Stockton, CA

I would give them a negative.

I'll keep it Simple and sweet.
Call you nonstop for booking. Under bid competitors. Raise cost (for me $1700 -$3200)right before more, I mean 1 day and day of. Use 4-5 different people, including the movers to contact you so you never know who your talking to or dealing with. kept on switching from lbs to sq ft when talking about rate and increased. This company should be put out of business or fined heavily. Hopefully you see this warning prior to choosing. Greater Van Lines seemed pretty legit and their initial quote was right on the money.

Long-distance move from Norfolk, VA to Chicago, IL

Do Not Use This Company.

I booked my move through Long Distance movers (out of Florida), they gave me an estimate of $2500 to move my things from Norfolk, VA to Chicago, IL. They did not tell me they used a 3rd party moving company or I would never have booked them. The day before the pick up day I got a call from the insurance guy and he charged me $200 more dollars based on my inventory. I signed this binding contract according to the weight we estimated for the move to be $2700. The day of the move they changed the pick up date on me, so I could no longer be at the pick up spot which I stressed when booking. My belongings took over a week to show up after I was promised that it would take no longer than 5 days at the max. When the movers showed up, they came a day after they told me causing a huge scene for mu building because I live in a high rise in the city and we have to reserve the use of the elevator and truck dock. The movers show up and speak no english and its a completely different company than I booked with!! Than, they tell me I actually owe them $3500 for the move based on cubic feet, when I signed the binding estimate based on weight and wasn't given the option to switch. They demanded it be in all cash which is absurd. I called Long Distance and they said I should have been contacted and given the option but since I wasn't there was nothing they can do. I argued with these people for 2 hours and finally just paid them the extra $800 because they were threatening to leave with all my belongings on their truck. After they unload, I realize they left have of the inventory I paid for in my house in VA with no regard or care at all. THIS COMPANY SUCKS. THEY USE THIRD PARTIES THAT UNCHARGE YOU HUNDREDS AND HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS AND THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOU OR YOUR STUFF.

Long-distance move from Mount Royal, NJ to Tampa, FL

Asking for $300 more deposit money [over the $2880 I already gave them.

I need to be out of my current location, but have had issues finding a new place to move to. When I first contacted this company [I thought they were an actual moving company - they did not make it clear they were only a brokerage firm] I informed the person I was working with that I didn't know when I needed to move, as I hadn't found a home yet. They would call and tell me to just "out down a deposit with a date" and I'd be able to change the date out with no problem, but at least by putting down a deposit, I'd be able to secure their services. I gave them [what I later found out to be a significantly high] deposit of $2880 & at the time selected a date in April. The deal on the home I was looking at closing on in April fell through and I called to reschedule. I told them I didn't have a new location and didn't know when I needed to move but had to give them SOME date to reschedule the move for. I pushed the move out a month to sometime in mid-may.
After finding a new home and getting a closing date of June 11th, I called LTD today [May 11th] to reschedule my move for after my new closing date.
I was then quoted a new price [on a closer location] for $900 more than the original estimate. I then removed some items from the inventory list in an attempt to bring down the cost of the move & got it down such that the new 'estimate' was $500 more than I was originally quoted. I finally said fine and was told that I'd have to pay any additional $300 NOW as an additional "deposit" [ontop of the $2880 I'd already given them] or they wouldn't reschedule the move and were going to come here next week to pick up my stuff [despite my not having a house to move to until next month].
I don't understand why I need to pay more money to change the date but - whatever. My issue is their DEMAND that I pay an additional $300 NOW as some sort of additional 'deposit' after having given them over 30% of the 'estimated' price already. What difference does another $300 make if it is paid NOW or when I pay for the balance of the move?

I don't have the money right now and as of right now, the company is refusing to reschedule my move [intending to do my move next week - when I will be in Florida attending the walk-through & inspection of my new home] unless I pay them $300 immediately [prior to them even picking up my items] not to mention the total [nearly $1000] charge they've tacked onto my bill for moving the date - Something they said wouldn't be an issue - when they were trying to get me to shell out over 30% of a deposit for the move.

Long-distance move from Wurtsboro, NY to Macon, MS

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE with Long Distance Movers.

My decision to use Long Distance Movers was one of the worst I have ever made. After sucking you into accepting an estimate and sending a deposit, the price escalates at every step of the way. A move that started off at $2869 ended up at $4900 and I had to leave half of my belongings behind unless I coughed up even more! Then there is the fact that you have no idea who has your stuff. The papers I got when my things were delivered say Stop & Move but the truck that arrived said USA Express Moving. There was no "proof of weight" provided, although this was promised as a way to document their pricing. Along the way, I cannot even say how RUDE they were. At one point, I was told "It's not up to me to solve your problems!" even as they demanded CASH for a next morning delivery after the bank was closed. This morning, as I awaited delivery, yet another demand was made or they would take my stuff to storage and I would have to pay that too. It was only after saying I would report them to the police that the truck arrived, within minutes. The driver, who claimed he tried to deliver at 3AM in the morning, had been given the wrong address! In fairness, the ONLY good thing I can say is that the driver was a very decent human being. I think Long Distance Movers is a BIG SCAM and intend to report them to every possible agency, including DOT, BBB, and the FBI. If I were a lawyer, I would organize a class action suit.

These positve reviews though..

I actually just cancelled with this company after doing some research. So I don't have much experience to speak of.
HOWEVER..
Can I just point out to everyone how freakin weird (cough*fake*cough) all of the 5-star positive reviews are?
Same length. Poetic words. Such passion for a moving experience.
Seems pretty questionable to me.
I'm not going to come out and say that Long Distance Movers is paying someone to write passionate 5 star reviews, but it certainly would appear that way. Not cool.

Long-distance move from Goose Creek, SC to Huntington Beach, CA

Do Not Waste Your Time.

Such a shame there are companies like this looking to use the transition in folks lives to come up and making an extra living off of in the most unethical way. Here's my experience and my results..please read before wasting your time.

I scheduled a move with this company (spoke to Tom or Todd) to go from SC to CA. A quote was given like so many others of $1400. I paid $563 as a deposit. 2 days before the movers were scheduled to come 12/26, I received a call from Nancy at LDM stating the movers would be here 12/26 between 8am and 12 pm. If you are reading this you can almost guess that didn't happen. On the 26th movers never showed up. The only way I found out the dates had changed to 12/27 and the timeframe was now 9am -11am was because I called. On 12/27, a random driver for Mosley Van Lines contacted us at 0830 to say he just found out about the job, he flew in from LA to NC and wouldn't arrive until noon (way outside of the timeframe provided by Nancy). He also mentioned he didn't have my contract and had to stop at Staples to print it. Based on the questions regarding the actual move it was almost as if he was unaware of what this move entailed. All of these red flags set off the gut instinct to research further. The carrier has an F for BBB rating and needless to say the drivers never showed up. I cancelled the move at 2:38pm on move day. I sent an email to Mark the so called manager. He stated he would see what he could do with getting my refund. He emailed me stating he could give me a partial refund because I refused the driver. Lol. How can I refuse someone who never arrived. Not to mention I tried to change carriers prior to this being cancelled and was treated rudely by the so called dispatch team and also was told they would charge for changing carriers. I have provided all of the proof needed to get a full refund from Navy Federal because the services agreed upon were never rendered. Not to mention, they were sending a truck that only had 286 cubic feet knowing I had approx 400. Lol. They were ready to overcharge. When I responded with the details requesting yet again a FULL refund, Mark responds from his cell and says, I can get you another driver ma'am. Lol. That would be fine if you didn't have such bad false and unethical business practices. Im reporting this everywhere moving companies can be rated on. Thank God for listening to my gut. If you paid a deposit you are not at all at a loss. Fight for what's right and you will WIN. They can fight Navy Federal on that amount that has been credited. I'm no longer in it.

Also, I'd recommend a more reputable reliable moving company that is bonded and insured. Sometimes the cheapest way is not the best way. For my quality furniture I'd rather pay more for quality and reliable delivery times with all of my stuff in tact with movers who get paid enough to care about not just their jobs but your belongings. I went with Allied Van Lines. Even with a 4 day notice they are able to pick up my stuff on 12/31. Look at the Universe working. They tried me but I'm smarter than that. IF IT DOESNT SOUND RIGHT IT AINT RIGHT. Also, most good moving companies send someone from their company to survey your items and get an accurate inventory, tag it with their own stickers, and weigh it to give you an accurate estimate PRIOR to scheduling the actual move. I can rest assured that my items will arrive on time and in tact.

Long-distance move from New York, NY to Spring Hill, FL

What a joke.

I contracted with LDM to move my contents from NY to Florida and only found out weeks later they were only the broker and hired a moving company for my move. I don't know who was the least professional, LDM or the movers. When my belongings arrived I either had missing items, fragile boxes destroyed or furniture damaged because no-one took the time to protect everything. As it stands, for my furniture alone I have an estimate from a furniture repairer for over $1400 and what did LDM tell us.." you wont get anywhere near that from us "
I also experienced being told by the movers when they came to pick the contents up that LDM underestimated the cost and I had to pay more money before they would do the loading. By the way this removal company is Ross Allied Trucking ( Simplified Solutions as we thought they were called ) based in NC and they have a couldn't care less attitude like LDM. 6 months have passed since my belongings were delivered and still no settlement made and I don't see that happening any time soon.
Do not take my word on this but take the time to read all the negative reviews and decide if you want to be ripped off like others have experienced.

L D Movers failed.

Big mistake hiring this firm. In short: Called them over 3 months in advance of the move. They made up a contract with a two day window for pickup. Called the week previous to the move to see if they could nail down which day they would pick up and find that they wont be able to make pickup as expected, they now wanted a two WEEK window. Already had the plane ticket and commitments, this wasn't going to work. This is NOT a moving company, you contract with them and they find a moving company to move you. They failed. I rented a U-Haul and drove 1500 miles. I suggest you do the same or at least cut out this middleman and find a real moving company.

Long-distance move from Edmond, OK to Dublin, OH

Cheat and Irresponsible.

They are just brokers who hire the worst sub contractors for the move. Do not consider them as your LAST OPTION too!! Its a company run by cheaters and liars of the highest order. They lost our costliest box containing XBOX and other gadgets and the collection of our favorite books. We were worried about the movement of these items and the helper guys kept reassuring us that it will be fine but eventually they lost just this box and all other less important stuff came through. The moving process was a pain as we had to call the customer care repeatedly for our issues. The Scheduled dates of pickup were changed 4 times according to their convenience when we had actually planned to move the stuff well ahead of our departure. Our Coffee table came all broken with detached racks and screws (lost) , the mattress is stained to an unclean-able amount and the couch has scratches here and there.

As if this wasn't enough the guy who came to drop off the items was rude and very unprofessional .We told him about the missing box and he wasn't ready to acknowledge it and kept telling that we are lying about the missing items. The moving company and sub contractor kept playing the blame game and now they wont even reimburse us a decent amount for the stuff worth 700+ . The insurance clauses explained to us were completely different than the ones they are ready to accept. We were told that anything packed by the movers would be reimbursed at its original price but now they are disagreeing to that very statement and are not ready to entertain the claims.

Fraudulent Extortionists.

LAWSUIT PENDING!! THIS PLACE NEEDS TO BE SHUT DOWN!! THIS IS THE MOST FRAUDULENT COMPANY, FULL OF EXTORTIONISTS! I have on recording the driver admitting that we had the money but because people were outside (we live in an urban neighborhood, sorry) he became afraid and decided to leave. He told his boss he waited over an hour. He only waited 30 minutes and left within the hour. Upon speaking with the driver and dispatch, the driver admitted to never asking the name of the person on order. He also admitted to being scared of waiting and said someone offered him drugs?!! Driver then called me a crackhead! They are charging us the initial balance which was 662.37 storage fee of 200 plus a redelivery fee of another 200! Why when driver left because HE WAS SCARED! This company is a big fraudulent scam who tries to extort people out of there money and then blame them for the negligence of their drivers who are apparently afraid of coming into urban neighborhoods! Currently filing a civil lawsuit! I give this place 0 stars. I'm surprised their still in business running this scam on hardworking men and women who don't mind paying to get our property back. I've filed 2 complaints with the BBB and also a complaint with the DOT. Anybody leaving good reviews is obviously being paid or reps from the company are writing them theirselves to cover up the FRAUDULENCE of this place.

Lying thieves.

This crooked "moving" business is a broker! They are not the ones moving your stuff! I hope that people read this before hiring them. They ended up contracting out AMPM Moving LLC out of St Louis, MO. I thought it was Long Distance Movers that would be showing up but it was AMPM and that is when I was told that Long distance is a broker. I had no choice but to use them at that point because I had to be in Omaha that next week. I was also told by Todd that it wouldn't be a problem for my stuff to be delivered on October the 2nd or 3rd. It is now October the 12th and I was just told by AMPM that my stuff should be here tomorrow the 13th. Long Distance Movers quoted me 3059.42 total on my move. I paid them 1200 down on it and was totally prepared to pay AMPM the 1859.42 difference. Now AMPM is telling me that I owe 4273.53 total so they are wanting to charge me another 1214.11 on top of what I was prepared for.Todd also told me that I would be able to use my credit card for the entire move and AMPM is informed me that they do not take cards.I feel like I did not get any near that service that I paid Long Distance Movers for ($1200 I paid them again by the way). I truly pray that people read these reviews before hiring this scam of a company because they are really good at telling you what you want to hear.

Long-distance move from Portland, OR to Orlando, FL

LDM, Inc are only brokers, not movers.

I used Long Distance Movers the end of 2017 to contract move 48 boxes of furnishings from Oregon to Florida. $2200 price was fair mid-range quote (always avoid low-ball bids!).

Without advance knowledge of their selected service provider in Oregon I could do no research on that service. Pickup started great but cross-country delivery resulted in disappearance of two heavy boxes of stereo equipment worth $3600, with lame excuses and absolutely no follow-up by shipper. Their claims process was incompetent and I’m screwed on losses. If you cannot absolutely prove your loss, your loss. Damaged pieces are at least evidence, so take good inventory notes as best you can. Photos of contents are good.

Overall, LDM was not responsible for losses but neither did they give me support after the fact or even chance to investigate contracted providers in advance. This is an industry fraught with unscrupulous dealings, no regulation, and little legal recourse. Spend the money and get it done right with reputable services.

Moving.

Be careful when you talk to a broker and they quote you an "estimate". I talked to a Lady in Florida almost 2 hours and she was a talker. She didn't listen to all I said. Never Never hire anyone who doesn't come out and price for you. They use second and third parties to do the job and the price goes up. Mine doubled plus. I really didn't have a lot of big items, more boxes, for I had down sized 2 x in the past 4 years. I was then given another broker to take over (paying 2 now ) The company they sent to pick up was very hard to deal with . I will say the guys were OK but their boss was horrible. Slow very slow. Worst experience dealing with these companies than I have ever experienced. Said it would be a week to deliver and showed up 9 days later with no contact. Communication was horrible. I had to make calls and get put off. The biggest complaint of mine is the lies they tell you and the cost was ridiculous . Please please don't be scammed by this company. Very disappointed and broke now. Thanks to their Scam.

Liars!

Giving this lying, low-life company a one star is a better rating then they deserve.
If they do answer your calls, they will lie to you about pickup and delivery. They hold your belongings hostage.

Worse than that, you will sign a contract with them agreeing to a price, then when the movers come, they will up-charge you. Personally, this up-charge was over 1,000 dollars.

They are cowards and liars, and should be out of business.

Long-distance move from Lisle, IL to Lemoore, CA

Horrible movers.

If you would like to get scammed for a higher quote and unethical movers please call Long distance movers! Originally my fiance and I already booked a separate mover and when Greg from Long Distance called us back we informed him that his quote was too high and we decided to go with another mover. So Greg decided to use scare tactics to inform us that the movers we were initially using was actually in named something different in the past and they just rename themselves whenever their reviews become subpar. So in essence Greg was defaming another company. Ignorant to the industry, we believed him. We also mentioned to him the other movers we were using can do a large item deposal. in which he claimed our movers can as well. Forfeited our deposit and went with long distance movers. My advice to anyone and everyone moving is to lookup the company on the department of transportation website. If your movers are not registered in your state they outsource your job to another company. So all of these good reviews here is actually a facade. It is russian roulette about who you end up with. In my experience I ended up with Cobra Van Lines. He claimed in the morning of our move that he received a call the day before canceling our order. Um. No. Long distance movers called us to confirm and we said "No we did not say so". The mover comes in aggravated and mad because "he just flew in." Well, it is not my problem that his company was disorganized. I offered him coffee just so that he can pump up for our order. In the beginning of the order, I showed him where all the items were (parked on two sides of the kitchen wall and mentioned to him about the bed deposal). He acknowledged everything and asked us to sign the paperwork. Also, we paid him extra tip to dispose the bed. In the middle of the move, without notifying he was leaving - he left. He left behind half of our inventory. HALF. It was not that hard. Everything was parked by the wall. When we called back Long Distance, I was told by management that they cannot do anything about it. Great, he literally left and I immediately called. I was told by management my voice recording would be replayed to see if Greg ever promised about the bed deposal within 48hrs. It has been a month. She also went back and forth with me regarding items on the list that was not delivered. In the end I had to say we can go on all day about he said she said but on the list my vacuum cleaner, my boxes, my lamp, and a large picture frame was not loaded and that is the reality of the situation. They delivered the items today and my glassware is all damaged and I am missing a box that had my coffee maker, water boiler, toaster oven, and other misc kitchenware. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO BE SCARED INTO PAYING FOR A HIGHER FEE WITH AN UNETHICAL COMPANY PLEASE FEEL FREE TO GO WITH LONG DISTANCE! IF YOU WOULD LIKE POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE PLEASE GO TO LONG DISTANCE! IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO SPEAK WITH SALES WHO LIES ABOUT OTHER COMPANIES GO TO LONG DISTANCE. IF YOU WOULD LIKE HALF OF YOUR INVENTORY FORGOTTEN AND MYSTERIOUSLY MISSING GO TO LONG DISTANCE. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO HEAR SNAPPY CUSTOMER SERVICE REPS AHEM NANCY PARELLA GO TO LONG DISTANCE. If you do decide to go to long distance do not book with GREG.

If anyone wants to file a claim the website to do so is:

https://nccdb.fmcsa.dot.gov/NCCDB/ComplaintEntry.aspx?choice=CONSUMER

EDIT: I was just contacted by Annie regarding taking my post down for $400. If you see any bad reviews that just gets taken down it is either they tried to file with Google review or Yelp to have it removed or they paid off the client. She even emailed me saying I have tried everything to rectify the situation so you should remove your review. This is after I denied her $400 offer to remove my review.

Liers and thieves.

I booked the movers 1 month in advance and they quoted me a certain price. I gave them a deposit. When it came time for them to come and get my things they tripled the price. I had no choice to change, they would not give me my deposit back. I wound up leaving all my furniture behind. Gave some away and sold a couple of pieces, only had 2 days before closing on my house. When the movers came that they sent, they said I had to pay extra. I was suppose to have my belongings in 2 weeks. It was a tad over a month that my belongings were put into a storage unit. When I finally did get into my home 6 months later and got the boxes unpacked, I found out only to my demise that we are missing about 10 boxes of sentimental items. I am 70 years old and my son is handicapped. I can replace what I am missing, however the items they took from my son he had been collecting since he was very young and meant quite a bit to him and cannot be replaced. Who takes things from an old lady and a crippled young man. Not just overpricing but to take their items. They say what goes around comes around. Please go find another moving company. Do not use LDM. Original price quoted was $4,500. Final cost $9,100. When my items were delivered the only person on the semi was the driver. My son and I helped him unload the semi. He did not put together the item that had been disassembled and then was in a hurry to get going. The driver, my son, and I spent 5 hours unloading and my son put most items together. The driver just wanted the money and then paid my son $100. Driver was unprofessional. I told him that a picture he put in my house was not mine, he said you can keep it or I will throw it away. Totally unprofessional, they don't care about your property, they just want your money. I am missing hardware to put my furniture back together, they threw fans, tools, etc. on top of my clothes in the wardrobe boxes. Glassware is broken, picture frames broken, and kitchen table has a large gash in it. LDM and the company they hired for me, US Movers, are a disgrace to the industry. Don't hire them unless you want you poor service, double the price quoted, and unprofessionalism. Be prepared to unload you own stuff like we had to do.

Scam company, fake reviews.

Do not believe the high reviews (notice also how they all have the same syntax and odd use of language?).

These people are scammers. They quote a price - which is agreed to by contract - then the actual movers show up and demand much more money. My $2,000 move turned into $7,000. They didn't show up on the day scheduled. They threatened us. They also signed papers themselves which were supposed to be signed off by us. They broke furniture and did not reimburse us.

Read actual techies about this company and you'll find the same problems with everyone who hired them. They are nothing but scammers and need to be taken out of business.

Zero Stars This Company is a Scam.

This company is an absolute scam do not use. I wish I could scream it from the mountain tops. They charged me thousands to move my furniture for a long distance move, then when the movers got there, they claimed that they couldn’t fit any of it in the truck and it would be thousands more to move it all. Even though I already paid over $2,100. They were completely unwilling to work with me and even ignored my calls and emails for days. I never got a response on any of my voicemails or anything until I called from a different phone number. DO NOT USE.

Do not use!

Our experience with LDM has been awful. We moved from Minnesota to Maine so we knew it might be expensive to move everything. They underquoted us by a ton, our stuff sat in a warehouse for 2 months - LDM blamed the moving company but for them to hold our stuff hostage (and 9 other families) you know that LDM has been doing something sketchy. We FINALLY get our stuff and 1. Everything smells horrible, we've had to wash literally everything we own 2. There were a few boxes soaked in some kind of oil 3. They shattered our microwave, tore apart our desk and coffee table 4. We received someone else's goods, I reached out to LDM about this with no response.

So if you go with them know that you'll be without your stuff for a long time, pay likely $1500-$3000 more for your move than quoted, have things ruined, and lose some of your stuff.

Long-distance move from Massachusetts to Texas

Movers steal my stuff while moving- Pls do not use this movers.

I used Long distance movers to move my home stuff from Boston to Texas. Initially they gave me quote for 1700$, they have sent other moving company called STOP and MOVE LLC. They forced me to pay 900$ more and paid to him because of my critical situation to move asap. They delivered after 3weeks and I found they steal so many electronic items from one of my moving box. They open and took all electronic items and packed again as same. I called both companies but response.

Long-distance move from California to Oklahoma

Unethical.

We engaged LDMovers for a move from CA OK. We thought we were in good shape since they had good reviews and worked with Vets. Boy were we wrong. The movers showed up late, loaded half of our things and said that was all they could do with out a price increase! We tried calling the broker who was conveniently not available. We had to agree to the price increase because they would not unload or finish loading until we did! First Red flag!! Our contract had a delivery date for our goods to be delivered. They were 21 days late!! 2nd RED Flag! When they arrived almost every item was damaged! And we are still missing boxes. The movers tried to leave with 1/2 of art work and Harley still in the truck, tried to get US to fill missing items claims! Final RED Flag!! The insurance company for LDMOVERS and the carrier has been nonresponsive! They basically damaged or stole everything, entrusted to their care, did not honor the contract and left us with the aftermath! Choose ANYONE ELSE!!
