Long-distance move from Lewisburg, PA to Salt Lake City, UT

Do Not Use!

Absolute disaster! They assured us that there would be no additional charges since we had a Mayflower rep inventory everything and gave us a contracted price. We also included pictures and their quote. When the movers showed up 7 hours late they wanted additional money. Not only was there a severe language barrier but they wanted cash or cashiers check upon deliver in UT. We could not get anyone to respond from Long Distance Movers after numerous calls. To this day we never heard back from the rep who guaranteed us that it was a contracted rate.We cancelled them and hired Mayflower. Long Distance movers then tried to take our deposit based on their "contract". This company uses subs and you have no idea who or what your getting. These guys will tell you anything to get your business and are total scam artist. Don't trust anything they say! Pay the extra money and use a reputable company.

Long-distance move from Kansas City, MO to Sarasota, FL

If I could give a minus 10 I would.

In case you do not want to read my story, I warn you now DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY, THERE ARE TOO MANY OTHER MOVING COMPANIES. Now I will tell you my story: Moving from KC Missouri to Sarasota FL and Erik with Long Distance Movers was so very nice and followed up with me all the time and the day they picked up my items it went downhill from there. A company called Empire picked up my items (had no idea Empire was involved) Was told they were headed to FL and asked my boyfriend when they could deliver, he told them a date and they said no problem and it may be sooner and was that OK, he said yes. That day came and went, and my items did not show up, so I emailed Erik and got no response, several emails later and calls later I asked for manager. I got Annie (aka as manager) and she advised me that Erik was on vacation and that is why he did not respond, of course my response to that was "why would you not have someone looking at his emails or v/m and handling his accounts because moving is pretty important." She responded by saying that was not right and someone should be handling his emails and calls, but they do not do that. Annie also advised me that my items were still in Olathe KS which technically is still KC Missouri. I was shocked, then they said they would let me know when they would be shipping. Couple days later Annie and Nicole, another manager, assured me they were loaded and would be delivered by end of week. End of week came and went and still no delivery. Called again and this time having a lot of troubles finding out where my items are. Many attempts to reach owner of Empire and owner of Long Distance Movers with no success but again Nicole assured me my items were loaded and yet on the way to FL. End of week came and NO DELIVERY. Called again to find out they were still in Olathe KS so I advised Nicole I was evacuating for Hurricane and she said no worries they were not sending anyone to Florida during the Hurricane and we would touch base after it was over. WELL to my surprise the driver of Empire drove to Florida in the Hurricane and kept calling me telling my items were here and if I did not get back they would take them back to KC and I would be charged. I kept in contact telling him I was driving back as quick as I could, but traffic was horrible and at a standstill. He seriously was calling and texting consonantly and when I was a couple hours away said they would start hauling my items up to my apartment and lined all my items down the walk way (thank goodness most of my neighbors had evacuated too). When I got home it was a total disaster. As they were bringing in my furniture I started noticing damages. Broken scrolling on headboard to bed, rip in mattress, reclining sofa was broken in several spots. They tapped the blankets to my furniture so when the tape was taken off it left marks. Destroyed my entry way by forcing my sofa through the door banging entry door into closet and taking a chunk out of my door jam. As you can guess I contacted Long Distance Movers via email, so I would have proof and I sent photos. No one would get back to me, so I had to call and s/w Nicole, she sent me an email address for Empire to send all photos to. I did and after several weeks and several f/u emails got no response, so I called her again and this time she called Empire and they sent me a form and told me to fill it out and to send pictures via mail. I did that and sent the envelope via certified mail on 11-14-17. To date after many emails, phone calls and promises of getting this resolved I still have NO resolution. I continue to contact the company and now I have decided it is time to post reviews in order to save anyone else from using this company and going through the same issues I have. The date is now 2-6-18 and my items were picked up in KC in August. This is ridiculous. PLEASE FIND ANOTHER SHIPPING COMPANY..THERE ARE MANY MORE TO CHOOSE FROM. And my long lost buddy Erik that started my quote and followed up until my pick up date..Well let’s just say he has been MIA since that day..

Long-distance move from Dover, NH to Cordova, TN

Do not use this company!

Honestly— the worst experience with a company. They are a scam so I really hope you read reviews prior to doing business with them. They guaranteed delivery by a certain date then called a few days prior to let us know it would be anywhere from 3-8 days late which I told them was unacceptable. They wouldn’t refund our 1600 we put for a down payment and also I spoke to several people who promised to called me back and never did. I spoke to a “manager” who was very unprofessional and said he would handle this for me and call me back in a few minutes—never ever called me. It was honestly laughable. I sent 3-4 emails to different people and their general email and never once did I get a response. I’m shocked they are still in business.

Please do not waste your time or money—find a local company that has good reviews—this company should be shut down.

Long-distance move from Asheville, NC to Long Beach, CA

Unorganized Scam.

This was the worst experience I've ever encountered with a company. After using Long Distance Movers, I will never used a broker company again to help me with my move. First off they were unorganized and very unprofessional when speaking to them on the phone. They would cut me off in the middle of sentences and randomly begin speaking to other people. They were very bad at hiding their obvious frustrations and stress. I hired LDM because the offer was good and my move was quick and last minute so my options were limited (they were not my first option). LDM, which is a broker, was pointless to hire. I not only had to give them ALL required information for my move and pay them, but I also received multiple calls from the moving company (a separate company that LDM hired to get my stuff) asking me the same information and had to pay them separately. What's the point of LDM as the broker if I had to do the exact same steps with the actual moving company, who picked up and delivered my items. Big waste of time and money to hire LDM. They were the over paid, undeserving middle man in my case. Due to the pointlessness and terrible quality of service I received from the LDM, my move in date was incorrect. This was due to poor communication between LDM and Rolls Trans (the shipping company). The company had to restore my stuff and deliver 3 weeks late. And of course, now I am missing large items. But I cannot talk to LDM about my missing items since they did not ship or deliver them. So what's the point of Long Distance Movers Inc.? Warning: Do NOT hire this company!!
P.S. If you do make the mistake like I did by using Long Distance Movers, then make sure you copy and print everything they send you as soon as you get it, because it will eventually disappear. Also ask and send follow up emails and save them all to save your butt from this rip off!!

Long-distance move from Pittsburgh, PA to Boston, MA

The worst part is after they pack your stuff.

They promised my packages would not go into storage, but it did.
It arrived 4 days late and my family didn't even have our beds. No apologies, of course.
Furnitures were broken on the move, which was expected. And the worst come with the claim. They use movingclaims.net to handle their claims and those people are the worst I've seen in years. First you need to submit all documents and pictures and fill in detailed information about the broken furnitures. Weeks later they'll have you sign a paper (no email confirmation allowed) that you're ok with your claims. More weeks later they will give a number so low that you'll feel embarrassed by them. It would be lower than the by pound compensation for your loss, and no details about how they calculated the number. I emailed with them at least 6 times requesting a breakdown of the settlement and each time they seem to say they don't know what I was talking about. They "offered" me to submit a "one time only" dispute if I was not satisfied! Even if you are so tired of arguing with these illiterates and just wanted to claim the dime they offered, they actually asked you to sign and "NOTERIZE" the acceptance of that dime!
Don't ever do business with this company, or anyone who try to throw you off with the movingclaims.net.

Long-distance move from Georgia to Colorado

Moving quote and movers hired awful.

I hired these people over the phone and they were nice
enough but totally screwed me over. The company they hired
to move me were a day late plus the young guys that showed up
were questionable. I called the after hours number given to me
and no response. To make a long story short, these guys
that actually moved my stuff to Denver..when my furniture was
delivered I was missing 4 oriental rugs, 2 pieces of artwork, and a bicycle. Plus I had water damage armoire, and not one
piece of my furniture was left without some kind of damage. I
contacted Long Distance Movers right away and at the time
they seemed very concerned but as weeks went by they
never did anything to recovery my missing items. They frankly
blew me off when I called. The movers they hired to move
my things frankly stole my stuff and no one has been held
responsible. This happened in August and after numerous
times to get some answers I have given up. I wish that the
networks would do a story on these moving scams because
I know I am not alone. Plus they owe me $100 that was overpayment on delivery which I have never been reimbursed.
My advice definitely have an onsite quote and even if it seems
high if movers are reputable use them. Most movers go by weight the movers I used said that didn't do that..scam I do have photos of all my missing items plus pictures of my damaged furniture. Plus urine stains on my beautiful mattress and dirt on my box springs/mattress which were bagged. I had to purchase the bags and helped put the mattress/box springs in the bag. It was obvious they had been removed from the bag.
Like I said I have pictures of everything, phone numbers, correspondence, etc.

Long-distance move from Seattle, WA to San Francisco, CA

Poor customer Service.

I wa shipping around in order to get a nice quote for my move from San Francisco to Seattle.

I assume the process means lots of e-mails with questions.

Hamilton Johnson from the sales department gave me a quote and I told him that I would consider his quote and get back to him I just needed to see around first as I was shipping around.

The answer he gave me?:

What is it that you want?
If your looking for the lowest price you’re going to get burned.
My time here is very valuable and I do have a truck I can service out to you by the morning but I don’t have time to ring around the rosy. I need to know if you are interested or not.
Please do NOT shop around with my quote

What? Does that mean either you agree on the quote without the liberty to shop around or BEAT IT?? So Rude and I can only imagine how the service and follow up with me would have been if I did consider them for my move.

Long-distance move from Arkadelphia, AR to San Francisco, CA

Moving.

I don't usually file a complain, but your service sucks!! You would say everything and make promises that you can never fulfill to get this business. I called your company almost 1 and half months earlier to schedule my shippings. You kept telling me that you can help me to do this and that. When the moving time coming, you changed everything you promised me and told me you can't do that for me such like changing the pick-up date and location and increasing the price. Now, you can't even keep you promise on delivering my items on time. You told me to wait for 10 - 14 days for my delivery at very beginning. Now you wanted to wait for another 14 days so you can deliver my furniture and items. That is ridiculous. The mostly important thing is that your representatives have super terrible attitude in handling you messes. All I see is that you are just trying to push me to another department and not even try to help me to get my items sooner. Your representatives don't even try to address the problems they created.
If that's the answer I will get every time I call. I will definitely keep filing my complain to your company and will leave 100% negative review to every website I can find. I paid for your service and I don't deserve it.

Long-distance move from Los Angeles, CA to Boise, ID

That was unexpected!

Every time I plan to relocate it is a habit that I involve a relocation company. I have had an opportunity to associate with a different relocation company, and I can comfortably narrate about them. They didn’t do it to the standard I needed my relocation taken care of. But it is not long ago I met a unique one in the industry - Long Distance Movers. For the first time, I came across a reliable service provider. They were cheap and more aggressive. Contrary to the rest they had a spacious van that carried all my stuff in one round. I loved the experience with them.

Long-distance move from Jacksonville, AL to Fort Lauderdale, FL

Scam! Zero Stars!

It’s a shame we live in a world where honest hard-working people are taken advantage of by shady companies looking to capitalize on a situation. This racket of a company sold me on countless lies that ultimately resulted in having to pay more money, significantly delayed arrival of our shipment, and multiple damaged items requiring repair, including a 65-inch TV.

I first spoke to a salesman by the name, COHAN, who is, no doubt, employed by this sham company for his ability to tell blatant lies and make empty promises just to get a sale. I was told, “the movers are our guys, they’re all background-checked, certified, professional movers”: LIE. Long Distance (LD) is a broker who sells you a product under the guise of “affordable”, “quality”, and “personalized” service, then contracts that service out to an actual moving company, in our case, OCEAN MOVING AND STORAGE, to pick up and deliver your items. You sign a contract with LD initially and pay them a deposit; the amount of the deposit is calculated based on a percentage of the total estimate or quote, which is in turn based on weight or cubic footage of the inventory being shipped. COHAN grossly OVER-estimated the weight of our inventory to hike up the price, then told me, “you don’t want to underestimate the weight, the movers may not show up with a big enough truck” and “you’ll have to pay a fee at the end if they go through the weigh station and your stuff weighs more than estimated.” (Again, I was doing this for the first time, I didn’t know.) Then he promised I’d be given a “weight ticket” upon arrival of our shipment and I’d be refunded any cost based on the difference assessed at the weigh station: LIE (our items were loaded on to a truck that held items from two other households, mover stated they never went through a weigh station.) LD included a “shuttle fee” of $300 in the initial contract which means that, if applicable, your items may be loaded on to a larger truck for the long haul, then transferred to a smaller truck locally, to make the actual delivery (especially if you’re moving to a building that does not allow “18-wheelers” on site). I was told I’d be reimbursed the shuttle fee because, although “it’s included in every contract”, our shipment wouldn’t need to be shuttled in because the “same guy picking up your items will also be delivering them”: LIE (we had at least three different drivers from Ocean Moving; Jarrod, Noam, and Pablo). I was GUARANTEED our items would arrive on our move-in date, “next day at the latest”: LIE (Ocean Moving had a separate contract from LD and could not guarantee a delivery date, only a date range of 3-15 days). This guy from sales, COHAN, gave me his cell number, told me to “call anytime of the day” if I had a question or concern, said he would be in constant contact with their dispatch to ensure on-time delivery. I feel like an idiot now but, of course, he was a total flake and didn’t answer his phone or return my messages. They had their money, nothing left to do. Classic BAIT AND SWITCH.

After initially reporting the damaged items to, both LD and Ocean, I’ve called and emailed LD repeatedly for assistance with filing a claim and they still haven’t even sent me a claim form. Also, take a screenshot of your contract with LD while you have access to it; as soon as Ocean left with our shipment, the link to our contract online expired; the weblink in their email took me to a different webpage stating, “This job is booked! Contact Customer Service.” Super shady. I was never emailed a hard copy. Despite multiple requests to send a hard copy, they never sent it. And when I was able to reach someone in customer service, I was given the run-around and sent to different office locations. I eventually spoke to a manager named KAITLYN who is rude, dismissive, and unprofessional. She continued the onslaught of lies and deceit; she agreed to reimburse a portion of the shuttle fee and email a claim form for eventual reimbursement towards damages but has not followed up on either of these since.

Look, the situation was this: I had to hire a moving company for the first time to move my family, including small children, to another state. I researched a list of companies online; the larger, more well-known companies, were more expensive, required more lead time to schedule a pick up, and quoted a longer delivery window. I gambled on this smaller company that was promising personalized, professional service, and lost big time. It ended up being more expensive than the safer alternative, I now have damaged items that need repair, and no one from LD has even a hint of accountability because “this is an Ocean issue now”. LONG DISTANCE is a sham company who has neither the integrity nor the resources to deliver the product they claim to be selling. BY FAR, THE WORST MOVING EXPERIENCE EVER.
