Long-distance move from Los Angeles, CA to Austin, TX

Worst experience.

Me and my husband were moving from LA to Texas. When I called this company to get a quote, I was asked to list all furniture/appliances, so I did. I got a quote and we decided to go with this company. On the day of the move, the guy comes in and says we might have to pay extra money. I told him we listed everything and the boxes were less than quoted. He said you can call the customer care and they can adjust the price but the customer care was closed at that time. He said you can sign the documents now call later which I shouldn't have done but I had no option since all our stuff was there in their truck. So I decided to sign and call them later. We tried to call the next few days but no response. Our representative was Max. Me and my husband left couple of voice msgs but no response.
Only good part was they delivered it on the day they promised but not inside our home though. I got a lot of msgs from the delivery guy saying if there is no parking space for their truck then I might have to play $700 extra for transport, extra for walk and so on. They were charging $700 extra for the walk to the apartment. Their free 50 ft walk is just a few steps according to them. Our representative told us if you have elevator it shouldn't cost you extra. But when delivery guy comes in its a whole different story. Our quote was $2000 plus they charged extra $400 for the package materials and according to them exceeding the weight and now they were asking $700. We decided to not to pay extra so they dropped it at the parking garage. Me and my husband moved everything from the parking garage to our home.
So I would say, be careful when you sign their documents And read very carefully everything that's on their paper. They talk sweet only till they get the deal and after its hard to reach them.

Long-distance move from Hutchinson, KS to Eureka Springs, AR

Extortion.

We were given a bid from Mark Wallace for $5700 after walking through our house giving him a description of all furniture, etc.. When the truck arrived we were told the cost would be $12,000 !!.

Pay now in cash or they would leave. I spoke with Tyler on the phone and was told to pay now in cash or the truck would move on to the next assignment. If we had an issue it should be taken up with customer service.

We had to be out of the house that day so we had no alternative but to pay. Subsequent calls and emails to the comapny have been stone walled for 3 months. I will continue my quest to recover my money.

Long-distance move from Nashville, TN to Rock Hill, SC

Do not use.

My husband and I had a terrible experience with First Call Relocations. Throughout the entire process, we were extremely disappointed with the service we have received. From the day that our stuff was supposed to be picked up, everything has been chaotic, unprofessional, and unacceptable. I would never use this company again, nor would I recommend them to anyone.
Once we determined that we would go with First Call Relocations and paid the initial deposit, we never heard from the salesman again. Despite calling and emailing him and other departments multiple times, we never got a response. Finally, we received a call telling us that the movers would be at our house to pick up our stuff on 9/29, with a backup date of 9/30 if something happened. We were told that the backup date was rarely used, and that the movers would give us a call 2 days before to finalize the date they would be there.
We never received a call stating when or what time our stuff would be picked up. We were told the dispatch department or drivers would contact us 2 days before our stuff would be picked up, but neither of them did. We called multiple times in an attempt to determine when our stuff would be picked up but had no response. No one ever called us back. We had to wait at our house for 2 days straight hoping that the drivers would actually show up on one of the two days we were told. Finally, the drivers showed up to our house in the late afternoon on 9/30, which was the backup day. They charged us an additional $2057 over the amount that we were quoted because they stated we had more things that needed to be moved, we were charged for stairs, and we were charged for materials that were used in packaging that we never asked to be used. At this point, they had all of our belongings, so we had no other choice than to pay them the additional money.
We gave First Call Relocations 20 days of notice as to when we needed our stuff delivered. We were told from the beginning and each time we spoke with dispatch that as long as we were able to give 7-14 days notice, we would have our stuff. However, the dispatch department told us on four separate occasions that we would have our stuff, only to call us back days later and say that it will no longer be arriving and they could not give us another date of when to expect our stuff to arrive. We would continually call the dispatch department for clarification and to see when our stuff would actually be delivered, but they refused to return our countless phone calls. Every time we were given a date by dispatch, we were told that we would get a call 2 days prior to confirm. Each time, we would not receive any call and would call First Call Relocations to get an update. This was extremely frustrating and expensive, as we had to keep extending the lease with our apartment and had to change plans with work every single time we got a new date. There was no communication. Finally, my husband called on 1/22 and someone in dispatch stated that our belongings would be coming on 1/24. He asked if this was confirmed since he had been told this multiple times and dates before, and they said yes. He asked what time the truck would be arriving, and they said they had no way of telling us when it would arrive. Finally, on 1/24, we received our belongings. They did not unpackage any of the extra packaging that they had put on themselves, and they did not put anything back together that they had taken apart to save space. They also lost a bookshelf. Once the movers finished, my husband paid the amount that the driver stated was due. The next day, 1/25, the driver called us stating that he told us the wrong amount and was charging us $1000 more than what he had said previously. He called us repeatedly until my husband agreed to pay the amount once the driver showed him the corrected invoice. We did not know what else to do besides pay them so that we could have our belongings again and get this nightmare over with.

Scam company!

This company us a complete scam, stay far, far away! I made a deposit to move me belongings from MO to AZ. they gave me a two day window fir the move. They did not arrive on either of those days. They arrived in the afternoon of the third day, after I closed on the sale of my home and had to be out. They immediately wanted to double the initial quote, which was already way to high to begin with. I refused to pay the extra and they left. Thankfully they never loaded my stuff on the truck. They still refuse to return my deposit although they did not meet the terms if our contract. I've filed a complaint with the FMCA abd the attorney general and want to warn everyone not to use this company!

Long-distance move from Weston, FL to McKinney, TX

I do NOT recommend it! fail to fulfill the sales and service's promise.

We move form Florida to Texas, during packaging day it was “normal” even they said it was more than they had estimate so we had to re negotiate with them.
They delivered on the frame time accordingly… but here is where everything started going WRONG and they just do not care… as long as you paid them…
We received furniture damaged, scratches, bumps and missing staff (a file cabinet, a floor lamp base, and a tv stand legs) among others things.
1. In their promise is that they assembly the furniture and beds… guess what? They did not assembly our beds we had to paid extra to somebody to do it.
2. We received someone else box and immediately I told the driver and crew leader that it did not belonged to me, and guess what? He did not care at all, he checked the sticker and told me is the same but it is not mine… he just left it in here.
3. As their protocol, instructions or process told us I established a claim for the damages, missing staff and reporting having belongings not ours on September 26th 2018 and they supposed to have up to 120 days to solve a claim and give response and compensate the proper way. Guess what? They have not answer! on January 13th we did a follow up… a week before the due of 120 days and their answer was that they have received the claim and the official date is January 13th 2019!!

I have all the emails where their employee answer me he has the claim and he forwarded to the claim department on September 26th 2018 and that does not count!!

Can you believe it??
They have not contact me neither to recover the other person’s belongings, I did contacted him and notify that I have his staff … so far nobody from the company has showed me they care about their costumers and satisfaction.

PLEASE, DO NOT HIRE THEM!! I TOTALLY NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY AT ALL!!

My worst move.

We moved from Weston,fl to Oak Park, CA. Start of the move wasn't good. They made me sign on the paper which has price amount $5000 more than what I was quoted on after filling in the truck. It was 9/8/2018. Stuff got delivered to house on 9/27/2018 at CA. Immediate reaction was my curved 60" TV was broken, office funiture table, brand new Trademill of $2500, carpet were missing. I made several calls but no replay. Filed a claim on 10/8/2018. Waited for 120 days and even more but no reply. Everytime left voice msg, sent emails no reply. Even today customer service was supposed to forward my call to claims director but nothing happened , they disconnected the phone.

I WOULD NEVER NEVER NEVER WILL RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY.

Long-distance move from Denver, CO to Tallahassee, FL

This is a scam!

Do not hire this horrible company. They are a scam company that uses a lot of fake reviews.

We lost thousands of dollars and belongings through first call and I hope to save you from doing the same thing.

There are numerous hidden fees and charges. Expect to spend a lot more than quoted, even if they "lock you into a price". They subcontract all their pick ups and deliveries so the people you meet will conveniently have no idea what your talking about as far as agreements with first call. Communication with first call will disappear after they get your deposit.

Our furniture took 46 days to arrive. We were quoted 5-10 days. Many things were broken or missing when it arrived and we were told we had to pay more to get the furniture from the truck to the house ( about 30 feet). Anything missing or stollen will not be reimbursed because of the language in the contract (.60 cents / pound of item, but nothing is weighed. )
I sincerely hope this company doesn't get the chance to take advantage of your family too. I'm honestly surprised our stuff showed up at all.

Long-distance move from Indiana to Florida

Will Use Again.

Moving to Flida was a sudden decision and I had very little time to move there and find a mover. Luckily First call relocations fit into my budget that was a concern for me. After searching quite a bit, I finally got First Call relocations. Adam at the office was very helpful, offered a very moderate price and scheduled my move within just 24 hours. Pat and the other 3 guys worked extremely hard and packed all my valuables properly. I received all the belongings unharmed and well within the given time. Being honest, First Call relocations did more than what I was looking for.

Move to Orlando.

First Call Relocations really did a great job with my move. Things went very smoothly from my 5 bedroom house in ID to my new home in Orlando. The reason why I booked First call relocations for my move was because they were recommended by a good friend of mine. He insisted that they will surely carry out such a great move for me and my family.  Thank God they did a really great job during the move! Keep it up! Thanks First Call Relocations so much for doing a great job for my move.

Long-distance move from Virginia to California

Trusted movers.

We used First Call Relocations to relocate us to San Jose from Virgina and now want to hire them again if we need to move in near future. We didn't have lots of stuff. We used to reside in a two bedroom ’ condo. We hired First Call Relocations to move our stuff only. We did the rest of procedures like packing or wrapping, but the company surprisingly sent us some boxes and material which made a life a whole lot easier. Their service was well-organized. I was especially overwhelmed with the delivery folks worked in Virginia at utmost care. They helped me to hoist on the third floor and set our furniture. First Call Relocations established themselves as very good moving professionals.

Devoted Movers.

I loved being able to talk thru the process over the phone with First Call Relocations. It was very well explained how and what was needed. They also went over the cost and options to make me comfortable about what I needed to pay for. I had to call back a few times for questions and they always answered the phone. They also called me to confirm the appointment as well as what I needed. They seemed genuinely concerned that they get my move right and that they show up with what we needed. They did exactly as promised. First Call Relocations was courteous and friendly. We have always moved ourselves, we thought we would give them a try. THEY WERE AMAZING!! We are never doing it alone again. They came and were outrageously strong! They moved our 3 bedroom house in record time and drove their own moving truck for us, so I didn't even have to worry about renting a truck and turning it back in. They were polite, careful with our things, and made the moving experience better!! I will recommend this company to all my friends and family because most of all, they were reasonably priced too. Thanks again for your help!!

Long-distance move from New York to Texas

Exceptional work from start to finish!

I needed a mover to move my 2 bedroom home from Manhatten to Texas.  I called all my family and they set  up an estimate on the same day, the price was higher than some other companies but at least I felt safe going with them because it's a trusted business and I'm glad I did they were perfect, honestly don't have anything to complain the whole move was smooth. I really liked the fact that my call rep guided me through the process and it seemed almost as thought it was quick and simple. it took about 4 business days but at the end I was happy with the result. I even tipped the driver because I checked all my furniture from top to bottom to make sure that it was all in one piece and looked spledid. They were honest to the bone and reliable company. Thanks guys!

This Company is a Scam.

They regularly bait and switch customers (go read the Better Business Bureau). The movers showed up and said we had "way more than they were expecting" and wanted to charge me 4x what I was quoted. Its all a scam. When you try to get your deposit back or want to take to a customer service rep, they hang up on you. The least professional company I have ever worked with. They also keep opening up new profiles on review websites (like Yelp) so people won't see how many negative reviews they have. On Google, they are clearly creating fake profiles or having their employees post. Its super obvious because they all posted 5 star reviews around the same time.

Long-distance move from Mount Vernon, WA to Oklahoma City, OK

First Call Relocations.

We have had a long distance move 11/16/18 from the State of WA to OK. Dealing with First Call Relocations (est. 42K we have spent :) and without telling us until after they got all our $ on the delivery date 1/21/19, did they finally have the truck driver tell us WE WERE NOT GOING TO RECEIVE all our furnishings on this day & that the rest was coming on another truck. Mind you, we were told the company had known way ahead of time that there would be two trucks, but did not have the courtesy to share that with us. We are missing a 1/3 of our stuff and they can't give us a ETA. They wanted us to sign the invoice that we received it all! Sorry we did not sign & want an ETA still on 1/23/19 we have no ETA! Instead they hung up the phone on me. From the get go it has been a Total NIGHTMARE! I would not recommend this company to anyone. We were lied to, phone calls hung up on, charged way to much, told there would be no surprises and it has been one sad surprise after another. I pray we get the rest of our stuff. We have been treated like we are an inconvenience instead of a CUSTOMER. BEWARE the packing was terrible also! We have so many items broken, scratched etc. & were totally over charged. It will be unfortunately a long claims form. We will be turning them into BBB, as no one needs to have this same negative experience. We give their sales department is a 10 to sell you to go with the company (many untruths told to reel you in) & a BIG "0" rating for every other department with this company!

This place is a LEGITIMATE SCAM!!

Do not use this company at any cost!! They will rip you off as they did me. PLEASE WARN OTHERS!! PLEASE BEWARE of First Call Relocations! THEY ARE A COMPLETE SCAM!! This company is totally unethical and employ liars and crooks!! I booked an out-of-state move with them in December and was asked to submit an initial deposit of 33 % via ACH bank transfer to reserve my move. That should have been my first clue! 24 hours later I submitted a cancellation to them via email, which is according to their stipulations in their cancellation/refund policy, which I did. They cancelled the movers but never sent my refund back!! Ever since then, I have called them over 30 times and have the phone records to prove it and have not been able to get anyone on the phone that has the "power" to get me my refund back! They just keep passing me around to the accounting department which is never in the office, or is in a "meeting". They have also hung up on me numerous times! The "agent" who booked my reservation was Aaron Brightman, which was probably a fake name too! He is the biggest scammer and liar of them all!! One of the times that someone did answer my call, they we're not helpful and the lady was rude and screamed at me saying that I was NEVER going to get my money back and hung up!! No one has any intention of acknowledging me nor has anyone addressed refunding me my money. They are TOTALLY fraudulent, unethical and are crooks!! They are thieves posing as a reputable business that will hopefully shortly be shut down!! STAY AWAY!! Beyond that, they are very disrespectful and seem to have no sensitivity toward my situation or have any intention of resolving it. I am glad that I have filed a fraud claim and involved the Consumer Fraud Protection department of the Attorney General of Indiana and have also involved a private Attorney and have filed a fraud claim with the Chase Bank Consumer Fraud Division and they are all on it!! PLEASE DO NOT GIVE THESE SCAMMERS YOUR MONEY!! I don't understand how TERRIBLE PEOPLE like this can own a business and be crooks with no heart or ethics!! I HOPE THIS NEVER HAPPENS TO THEM PERSONALLY. BUT, WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND!! BE WARNED!! Please STAY AWAY from this company. They will lie to you & they do not live up to the terms they promise. I wish I knew better. This company needs to be banned, We are still waiting for our $846.30. Please look for another moving company & read the past reviews before using the company.

Nightmare Moving Company.

If I could, I'd give them a -5 Stars. They don't deserve one! Their name should be changed to NEVER CALL RELOCATIONS. I cannot begin to describe the horrors working with this company and recommend anyone who wants a reputable moving company to check on the moving.org website. If you don't find the company's name in their list, run! It took me TWO months to get my furniture from these people, all while making payments on an empty storage unit! The real one-star reviews below are the truthful ones and these stories don't even compare to the ordeal they put me through. Where do I begin? They are rude, have despicable customer service, pull a bait-and-switch routine, claim you have "too much stuff" and inform you they need another truck with another huge fee, after which they don't even load half the items on the well-outlined list (and I included measurements!). In addition, they know how to stay within federal regulations by charging an excess exactly the 110% for what? Moving less than contracted? Really? The nerve! I have never seen such criminal activity! They are con artists, employing the right buzzwords conmen use. They then turn it on you and make it sound like YOU are being unreasonable because YOU want an idea when they will deliver your furniture as if it is a crime to want a timeline! The demands they make are beyond believable, only interested in money. No one answers the phone. It is interesting that the same voices identified under other names. A true criminal outfit. And a warning to their so-called customer service (non-service personified!): Don't dare come back on here and make excuses and act all innocent with your con artist lingo. It will not fly. The only thing that will make me happy is a FULL refund. I put my life on hold for two months! TWO MONTHS! But they don't care. Anyone who wants the complete story, please contact me.

Long-distance move from California to Idaho

Refuse to refund deposit.

We had planned to make a move from California to Idaho. We entered the information on the Home Advisor site. We were contacted by several moving companies. First Call Relocations called and had what seemed to be a good option for us. We were told verbally and in written form in the contract that if we paid a deposit it was 100% refundable if we cancelled 3 days prior to the move. We paid the deposit of $2090.00 in October 2018. We had an open date for the move, but the representative we dealt with, James Mitchell, filled a date of December 2, 2018 stating a date was required but not to worry due to the cancellation policy. We were fine with that. We had a critical family health emergency and had to cancel our plans. The relative is now in hospice care. We contacted James Mitchell in late October 2018, and he said it was not a problem, and he would cancel. We waited but the refund did not arrive. We called James who stated that he would check with the cancellation department. We made several more phone calls and sent emails but James did not return any of these. It is now January 2019 and still no refund. We have contacted the Better Business Bureau in Indianapolis. They could not get anyone to return their inquiries.
We have now filed a police report with the Indianapolis Police Department. When we did this, the officer who took the report said that ours was the second complaint that week only the other person did not only lose their money but all of their belongings as well.
We are a retired couple in our seventies and can not afford to lose $2090.00.
Home Advisor stated that First Call Relocations is not in their system; however First Call Relocations got our information from the Home Advisor site.
We have no recourse as James would not accept a credit card but needed our banking information to take the money. We should have questioned this. We caution others to beware of this company.

Fair choice.

I tried not to read into moving reviews too much while I was making my descion. I wanted to make sure I gave each company a fair shot without knowing anything about them going into the process. I picked 5 companies I was going to talk to and I got prices from them all. Once I started looking into the companies I ruled out a few brokers. In the end I selected First Call Moving. First Call Relocation.

BEWARE of this company. To make a long story short, the estimate they gave me was $2500 to move my belongings from Indiana to NC. This is a 1 bedroom and no appliances, no dresser, no sofa no kitchen or dinning room table or chairs. I packed everything. I know the $2500 was an estimate and most likely would be more but not $6000! I am a female and a senior citizen and felt they gouged me and nothing I could do since everything was packed. They told me I had 1500 cubic feet and I told them no way but assured me I would be reimbursed at the end if I didn't have that much. I had a moving company here review my inventory and he said I didn't have half that much of inventory. They haven't sent me any reimbursement just demanded $2000 on day of delivery or they would not unload my things. Do not use this company, you will be sorry! For all the good reviews, they are fake from them posing as customers. One way they gouge you is use space reservation which I did not request. Space reservation is mostly used by companies who want only their things moved and not with others. I felt lucky to get my things. I will admit the movers did a good job packing and unloading but the company's charges are absurd.
