Long-distance move from Dallas, TX to Denver, CO

Highly recommended.

Highly recommended - this was a great experience with Authority Moving Group. They were wonderful during our long distance move. They gave us an accurate estimate, were always available by phone if we had questions, and everyone we spoke to or dealt with was pleasant and professional. They exceeded my expectations and did an excellent job. I would happily use them again for future moves.

Moving.

This company was wonderful! Truly! They has some of the best customer service and communication that I have ever experienced with any kind of company. Scheduling was so easy and flexible when I needed it to be. The crew that moved us was top notch! They were a nice group of guys and did a beautiful job with our move. I have moved so many times and have never used a company so great! They really are the best movers out there. There’s no need to shop around any more. Five Stars for Kristopher Jacobs Authority Moving Group my whole experience with this company was fantastic!!

Long-distance move from Seattle, WA to West Hollywood, CA

Terrible Service all around.

Every step of this move was stressful and I was rarely updated about the status before calling Authority myself to get answers. To begin, I was supposed to be notified about the specific day and time the movers would show 48 hours before. I was not contacted, and had to call in on 6/25 around noon to find out that the movers were coming on 6/26 between 10am-3pm. On pickup day, the movers showed up about 2 hours late at 5 pm and I had to call at 3 to ask where they were in order to find out that they would be late. My belongings were supposed to be dropped off on 7/1 at noon, and again I had to call to find out that they would not be delivering until the next day. When dropping off my things, I was given 3 bags and a box that were not mine. I noticed the bags and not the box. Also, from the movers Inventory list, we could not tell if I had all my boxes and I asked for them to go check their warehouse when they got back. I never received a call and tried multiple times to call the driver and customer service. I left two messages explaining that I may be missing boxes and had one that was not mine. I will never use this company again and recommend using anyone else.

Long-distance move from Boynton Beach, FL to Pinole, CA

**Don't use this company**.

I am warning everyone to not use this company! The empty promises and deception I experienced to get my business and lock me into a contract is shameful. Kyle Rowland told me they were a family owned company with integrity and I was in good hands. He said I would get my belongings in 21 business days and I received it 73 days later by another moving company they hired. After the third week I inquired because I hadn't heard anything and was told my belongings were still in Florida with another company called Safebound. This is when I discovered they are simply brokers! I requested the manager, Mike Perez that said he would look into Kyle's agreement and would provide me with tape recordings of our conversations that I requested. Mike did not fulfill his promises and stopped answering my phone calls all together. When it finally arrived, a majority of my belongings were damaged. Some irreplaceable furniture from my grandmother has tape on raw wood. I had a terrible experience and want to warn everyone not to use this company. They are con artists.

Long-distance move from Austin, TX to Philadelphia, PA

Do Not Use Authority Moving Group.

If you are seeing this, good job on doing your due diligence on movers. I wish I had done more before making my decision. If you don't read anything else I write, please read this: DO NOT PAY AUTHORITY MOVING GROUP ANY MONEY OR GIVE THEM YOUR BELONGINGS.

Why? I am not 100% sure this company is real and not just a scam.

Here is our story…

We were contacted by David Thomas. David was great. He was attentive, helpful and seemingly very knowledgeable. My only complaint with David is that he never mentioned that Authority Moving Group is a moving broker and not an actual moving company. I should have figured it out on my own but it would have been nice to be told straight up who I was dealing with.

David got us a great price on our move and we booked it after about a day of thought. Once things were booked David disappeared sadly. I was then handed off to a Michael H who was basically the exact opposite of David. Rude, unhelpful and not at all attentive. I sent him emails and called him and never got a response.

As we got closer to our move date (July 30th) I started to call to see if Authority had any info on our movers or when they would be arriving and they could not give me an answer. Also, actually getting a hold of them is incredibly difficult. Be prepared to wait on hold for a long time and then get sent to voicemail even if you call during business hours. Eventually I got through to someone named Jessica. Jessica seemed to hate me from day one. Every time she answered the phone it seemed like I was inconveniencing her big time. She would also tell me every single time that she would look into things for me and call me right back. I never once received a call back.

The 30th came and went without us hearing from Authority or the movers. On the 31st at 6pm we called them and were then told by another rep named Jess that our move could not happen until the 1st or the 2nd of August. So we agreed to do the move 2 days later than we had agreed to months ago. Again, we had already paid a deposit and signed contracts at this point. On the 1st, we called and could not get a hold of them. On the 2nd we called and were told that the move was delayed again and could not be done until August 6th. Our lease in Philadelphia starts on August 7th. This was unacceptable so we kindly asked them to cancel the contract and refund our deposit. They said they process the request and call us back. Of course, they never did so I was forced to dispute the charge through my credit card to get my money back.

Long story short: Authority Moving Group will probably give you the cheapest quote for your move. But, as all the other negative reviews state, your experience will be a nightmare. Either your belongings will disappear or your move will just never happen. If you still feel compelled to give them a shot I would STRONGLY encourage you to pay with credit cards so that you can get your money back when they disappoint you.

I know there are a lot of glowing reviews for them out there but having worked for many web companies during my career I am now confident that these are fake and created by employees of the company. The negative reviews are the ones you want to focus on here. BE CAREFUL.

Long-distance move from Sacramento, CA to Watertown, NY

Do NOT use Authority - worst customer service ever!!

I selected Authority Moving Group for my 2,811 mile cross-country move based upon the communication I had with a pleasant, helpful and friendly salesman named Garrett. Unfortunately, within 2 weeks the helpful person (Garrett) disappeared and I was told he no longer worked for the company and was passed off to Michael H. That should have been the point where I just let Authority keep my deposit and I should have gone elsewhere! That is when I discovered Authority is only a BROKER to "find" you a mover and their estimate could increase exponentially when the actual driver shows up on the day of the move. Which, of course, it did! MineDOUBLED. I have never been so disgusted with the customer service of any company, as I am with AUTHORITY MOVING GROUP. I have gotten nothing but the run around from them including them being unprofessional, snide, talking over me while asking questions, cutting me off, and even hanging up on me. They are unwilling to answer specific questions related to their estimate and the amount the final movers charged, relying on their legal mumbo jumbo in an 8 page manifest that no one could read or begin to understand, all while claiming to provide a PROFESSIONAL FULL-SERVICE MOVE. There appear to be satisfied customers, in addition to a few highly disgruntled customers, so I don't know how or why my move was so HORRID. Authority had the audacity to tell me I was "problematic" when I asked for titles of specific representatives of Authority with whom I had communicated, their business address, and the name of their agent for service of process. DO NOT SPEND A DIME WITH THIS UNSCRUPULOUS moving BROKER - they are not a moving company but will take your money then provide no follow-up and will blame the actual movers they assign to your move for price increases, lost items and damaged items. Their tactic is to Slick Willy fast talk you while accomplishing nothing - which is exactly their goal - to take your money and provide ZERO customer service. There is no accountability so I am seeking a legal remedy. (If anyone reading this can suggest an attorney, please contact me. Thank you.).

Long-distance move from San Jose, CA to Princeton, NJ

Nothing got moved, and deposit not refunded.

Authority Moving Group (US DOT; 3279969), email: info@authoritymovinggroup.com. Job#C8205507.

A quote and contract was signed with Authority Moving Group with the quoted price as a total of $2378.49. $781.77 was paid to Authority Moving Group on 6/25.

Authority Moving Group provided a mover’s phone number to call. The mover appears have no my information at all, and even didn’t know the name and address. The mover ended up showing up 11:30 pm 7/21/20, with a blank contract document and didn’t know and refer to the established contract with Authority Moving Group. The mover didn’t acknowledge the quoted price but increase the total cost to $5100 from $2378.49. At the end the furnitures and household goods didn’t get moved due to such large price differences (cost more than doubled).

I called Authority Moving Group immediately in the morning of 7/22, and reported the issue. I was suggested to email and request a refund. After a week, upon contacting Authority Moving Group again on 7/28, the customer service manager named Michael refused the refund of paid portion $781.77.

Btw, I also signed contract with them to ship to cars. However, they informed the price on the contract ($2350) needs to be increased to $2800 four days ahead of moving date. Even with the increased price, no one showed up to pick up the cars..However, through multiple calls, Authority moving group agreed to refund the $150 deposit.

To summarize, nothing got moved by working with Authority Moving Group. Instead, accumulated lots of hassles, frustrations, physical and emotional pressures, etc.

Professional and Kind.

I used Authority Moving Group for both a long-distance move and for storage, both experiences were great. They were able to store my things safely for a month as well as move it from our home to storage and then from storage to our new house. They charged very easy to understand rates that I was very comfortable with. I’m so happy with how professional and kind everyone was. There are a lot of moving companies out there but I really feel like I found the best one. I just wanted to pass on the recommendation to anyone out there that might be looking.

Would hire them again.

Authority Moving Group did an excellent job for us. Their estimate was very accurate and their prices were very fair. They showed up at their scheduled time and their crew worked fast to make sure that everything was on the road on time. Everything was completed much faster than the estimated time. This is one of the best moves I have ever experienced. I’m so glad I found such professional movers. I highly recommend Authority Moving Group and would hire them again.

Long-distance move from Burbank, CA to Columbus, OH

Worst nightmare.

The final price was 50% more than the quote. I had very clearly listed out the inventory and not a single piece extra. But then Authority Group are just brokers and the guys who actually move is a different company. It felt like all this was part of the plan. The guy who I interacted with never was reachable again and never bothered to return your call. As soon as u have an issue ur connected to a diffrent person and then u let to fend on your own with the owner of the actual mover. For stuff worth 2500$ I now have to pay 4160$.

Please be sure that u never take a quote over the phone. Always ensure someone comes over to your home and checks everything that needs to be moved and then ask for a quote. Also be aware of parking charges for the truck which is 700$ additional. Then u have other charges for shuttle service if u don't have parking for the Semi at the location. Also be aware if you are on the 2 or 3 floor then there is something called stairs charges.

Overall it was a nightmare and not sure if I will get all my stuff intact.

Please be very careful and be aware of all the additional charges upfront.

Long-distance move from Mays Landing, NJ to Windsor, CO

Predatory Business Practices! do Not Use.

We recently moved from NJ to CO; I did alot of research on many moving companies and Authority Moving Group, LLC seemed like the best option. The quote was in our budget, the gentleman I spoke with on the phone, Owen, assured me that we would have our belongings in 10-14 days; the quote was for $4610.96. We were literally moving a 2 bedroom apartment. I was on the phone with Owen, and went room by room listing all of our items. I even overestimated the amount of boxes and bins we would have to be safe. Then, for some reason, the quote went down to $4517.16. Even though I asked Owen why, he didn't answer. I also made it very clear that we had to be picked up on August 20th, as we were driving to CO and had hotel reservations. I have, in an email from him assuring me that he had August 20th confirmed as our pickup date, and that we should receive a call the day before confirming the time of pickup for the 20th. We booked them on July 23rd, 2020. I thought all was well. Boy, was I wrong. The nightmare was just beginning. On August 19th, a new person named Heather from Authority Moving Group called me to confirm and go over inventory, etc. We did, and lo and behold, Owen FORGOT a WHOLE bedroom set in our original quote. HOW DO YOU FORGET A WHOLE BEDROOM SET? Our quote went from $4517.16 to $5853.63, and I had to pay an additional deposit that day. She also said Owen did not put in there that we had to be picked up on the 20th. I explained to her that I had an email and we had hotel reservations and it was imperative to be picked up on the 20th. I was furious. I was so upset that I called and emailed the customer service manager, Michael Harris, to complain. He said to let the move happen and that he would give us a "resolution" once the move was complete. I said that would be fine. That evening, I received a call from the trucking company that Authority Moving Group, LLC subcontracted, VSNY Moving, who told me the drivers would be there on the 20th between 10-12. The morning of the 20th, we got up early, had everything ready to go, car packed, waiting for the movers to show. Nothing, 12PM came and went. My fiance called the trucking company and was told the person who called me made a MISTAKE and that we weren't being picked up until the 21st. I lost it. We had to be out of our apartment that evening and we had hotel reservations for that night and the following night. I once again contacted Michael Harris at Authority Moving Group who was very rude and condescending; saying they never said we would be picked up on the 20th, etc. Even when I told him the trucking company called the night before and then made a mistake, he was still rude.My fiance called VSNY moving back and they were able to get a truck there at 6PM. From there, the nightmare continued. The two men who came were shady and sketchy; first they told us that our price was going up another $1650, which we did not have the money for, and then they said that if we tried to tip them $40-$60 that they wouldn't "be happy". Needless to say I was very uncomfortable with that situation and ended up overtipping because I was scared and they had all of my belongings. Also, when they were filling out the new "estimate", they said the first available delivery date would be 9/6/20.We arrived in CO on 8/23, and called Authority Moving Group LLC pretty much every day and kept getting the run around. Lies, lies and more lies. The customer service manager refused to speak to me, so my fiance was calling regularly. Nobody could tell us where our stuff was, when it was coming, etc. Then this one woman, Alani, was so rude to my fiance and kept talking over him and saying they were well within their contract etc. I said where is your time frame. She said all the way down at the bottom, the very last paragraph, it states they have 30 days (mind you, business days which isn't specified) from the first available delivery date (which VSNY picked, not us) NOT THE 10-14 DAYS I WAS TOLD SO I WOULD BOOK THEM. They bait you and use predatory business practices. The customer service manager refuses to answer any emails and no resolution has been offered. In short, they completely screwed up, it cost me $1650 more than quoted, and I want a resolution. They can be sure that I will be posting reviews EVERYWHERE including BBB, FTC, social media, etc. Shame on them for taking advantage of people and not being honest or communicative.

Great prices.

I hired Authority Moving Group for my move. I got their quote and was very surprised to find out that their prices were much lower than any of the other moving companies that I contacted. They did such a great job! Everyone was so professional. I would definitely use them again! I’ve already referred them to so many people and will continue to do so. They were on time, cared for our belongings, and in the end the total price was less than our original quote. I know that with Authority I was in good hands which is why I’ve been telling so many people I know about their services.

Long Distance Move from Oswego, IL to Wichita, KS.

Buyer beware on this. First, they aren't an actual moving company. They are a broker (even though they don't disclose that anywhere on their website). You only learn this by reading the contract they send you after you make your initial down payment. Good luck getting that down payment back if you don't like that hey are a broker. Second, they don't provide an estimate based on them looking at your stuff. They blame that on Covid, but all other companies do an on-site estimate. Their estimate means absolutely nothing, by the way, since the moving company they assign to you doesn't have to accept Authority's estimate anyway. This resulted in my actual cost being about 60% higher than the estimate. Fourth, Authority will provide you with zero assistance once they place you with the actual moving company. You have no choice over the moving company selected, regardless of how terrible they are. We were assigned Bulls Moving out of Gurnee, Illinois. We had massive issues with Bulls Moving and Authority did absolutely nothing to assist. In other words, they are a completely unnecessary company who exists to make you promises, take a down payment, and disappear after they assign you a terrible moving company. AVOID LIKE YOUR LIFE DEPENDED ON IT!

Updated Service.

**UPDATE** I thought this was resolved but they have refused to provide the resolution we agreed upon unless the entire review is removed. VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH THIS COMPANY AND THE ETHICAL ISSUES. They tell you one thing want you to not speak out about the service then when they provide resolution to one issue they want it all to go away. This is what service looks like these days. **Update** Spoke with the Customer Service Manager today with Authority Moving Group and we came to a resolution on the vehicle transport issue. Other issue still exist. Great Services at FIRST.. I used Authority Moving Group to move from FL to PA, there were responsible for moving cars and my home with a full pack service. The day before my move they called and asked to move the pick up day from monday until tuesday in which I told them that would not work based on the sale of my home. Received a call the day of the move from Radius Moving foreman who said they are on their way. Several hours later (Approx 2pm) they arrived with a crew, before packing an item the told me it was going to me over the cuft I reserved for my move (it should be noted that I did a phone estimate and then Authority Moving sent a independent person to my home to do an estimate who estimated a little over 2800 cu ft. which to be safe I purchased 2 full trucks 3400 cuft. Being stuck the foreman called the owner Michelle who said at worst it would be an additional $1500 to move everything with a guaranteed delivery date. My community was a restricted community so work had to end at 830 and they said they will be back by 10am. At 930 that morning I seen the moving truck outside my community I assumed he was waiting for the rest of the crew.. Around noon I received a call from the foreman who asked me to bring him dollies so they could unload the truck at the first storage facility. So I load my car and took the dollies to them for them to arrive at my house around 3pm. They finally got the home packed around 9pm. This was after a call from Authority Moving about paying them cash so they can pay the crew and a argument between the foreman and crew in my drive way. When I received my items several items were broken even worse my kids play station was stolen. I attempted to settle this but they refused to do the right thing and fix all the things that were broken and/or stolen. IN ADDITION during my car transport I agreed to pay additional money to get the vehicles transported and when the transporter arrived with my vehicles he would not let them off the truck without paying $1800 when $1500 was what we agreed to. I spoke with Authority Moving several times while the transporter was there and they told me I should only be paying $1500. Authority Moving agreed to reimburse me the extra $300 I had to pay to have my cars freed and 2 month later they have refused to pay me. The last message from the owner said read the contract which said $1500.00 was to be paid upon delivery. I even have text message from the manager that they were to send me the $300.00. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY AS I HAVE TO GET MY LEGAL COUNSEL INVOLVED. I WILL BE POSTING THIS MESSAGE EVERYWHERE I CAN TO PROTECT OTHERS.

Flawless Move.

I have already told at least 3 of my friend about Authority Moving Group and recommended that they hire them. I don’t often get the kind of service that I would recommend to others but in this case, I absolutely did. They did a flawless move for me with great attention to detail and excellent protection of my belongings. Not once did I have an issue with the way anything was handled. I had 0 damage to anything which is more or less unheard of when it comes to long-distance moves. You should really reach out to them and see how yourself just how wonderful they are.

The first thing I noticed about Authority Moving Group was how easy it was to get ahold of them. I was able to talk to someone directly right away and ask several questions. They were also very upfront and open about their prices. I decided to schedule with them and they were very flexible with my needs. The day of the move everything was done to my exact specifications and the move ended up taking less time than the original estimate. I’m very impressed and would hire again.

BROKER not a MOVER. They are LIERS.

This company is NOT a moving company. They are brokers. When I first contacted them, the sales person David was so nice and so attentive. I specifically asked for a certain date (22nd Sep) I want my stuff to be delivered on. Based on that, he provided 18th or 19th as the pick up date. Keep in mind, he did not mention even once that they are brokers and another company will deliver my items. I also asked him if my contract includes "Full value protection" and he mentioned yes that is what Authority group offers free of charge to it's customers. After I made the initial deposit, I received a call from them confirming the pick up date. Again I mentioned that I want it delivered on 22nd, to which the lady on the call was like we cannot promise you that and it depends on the mover. I still wasn't sure of what was going on and that they sell my contract to another company. She confirmed the pickup date to be 14th or 15th and that I will receive a call from the drivers at least 48 hours before to confirm the date and time. I waited till 13th afternoon and when I did not receive any calls, then I called Authority group to confirm the move. They mentioned they will reach out to mover and if I do not hear back by 14th then give them a call. I received a call from movers confirming 14th as the date and assuming the movers are part of Authority group, I again tried to confirm the delivery date as I was moving out of state and would not have a place to keep the items till the 22nd. The mover asked me to put 15th as earliest delivery date on paper as she mentioned it takes them 7 - 10 days to deliver and I can be prioritized if I put in 15th (I Know my bad for trusting her). The movers showed up on 14th and first thing they said was that they have only 1 stop listed in the paperwork they received. I called customer service and they were saying they don't know why it says 1 stop because they sent 2 stops. I worked with the movers to have them pickup stuff from both places. The movers took everything and then on the 17th, I received a call from movers saying they are 1 hour away from my new place. I tried telling them that I was told it will take 7 to 10 business days and also spoke to Michael at Authority Group who was straight to the point that it is your fault that you entered 15th as delivery date. If you had any questions you should have called us as we do not control the vendor movers. That was the first time I really got to know that Authority group sales lie on your face by showing that drivers/movers are not vendors but part of the company. I accepted the delivery to save $2000 and started opening items and multiple expensive items have been damaged (shows how well they took care of my stuff). I have called Authority 3 times since then and always says their internet/systems are down. Their contract has "Full Value Protection" added in and offered by sales for free but then I got to know that contract is just a PAPER for TRASH CAN. It's the mover contract which will pay for the claims as the movers damaged the items. Authority group uses their paperwork to lure customers in but takes no ownership of anything which goes wrong. TERRIBLE COMPANY AND UNETCHICAL PRACTICES.

Long-distance move from Boise, ID to Sacramento, CA

Excellent.

To start with, we got an estimate online with Authority Moving Group and it ended up being very accurate which surprised me. We hired them for both packing and moving services and they did a great job with both. They handled items carefully and packed them in a way that would prevent any issues in transit. Our move was long distance so it took several days for our things to arrive in Sacramento but when they did everything was in great shape. I really feel like I got lucky with this company which is why I wanted to take the time to show my appreciation. They really did an excellent job.

Long-distance move from Seymour, CT to Lancaster, CA

Horrible Customer Service.

Also known as Century Moving Group

My initial conversation with Kyle, made everything sound swift and easy-going, he was obviously trying to get me to buy in so everything sounded great, he sent me a quote that same night which I had included everything I was going to have move, and said the price shouldn't change from that.

The night before my move (9/28/20), Heather and Jessica Chieffalo (dispatch dept. supervisor) called me to confirm my move for the following day. Jessica specifically stated the price would NOT change, and if it does, to contact her, because "The guys could just throw it on the back, it's not a problem" I wanted to make clear of this as I was paying CASH and would have only the amount I was told. Well the next day after they packed everything up, they wanted to tell me it was going to equal a total of $600 EXTRA, which I had to pay $300 up front and the rest at drop off. I called Jessica, no response, even called her 2 days later, messaged her, NO response

I had been trying to contact their customer service since this happened. Every time I spoke with someone, they always said they would "look into it and call me back"

I spoke with Heather, Mike Harris, Nina (multiple times) about this and NOBODY ever called me back.

The day before my furniture finally arrived

(Took 2 months to ship from CT to CA)

I called Nina and she told me that her and Jessica were having a meeting about my situation and would call me back before 3pm E.S.T, I never received a call back. I called the next 2 days and spoke with another person who said Nina was not there and doesn't know when or how I could get in contact to find out what happened. I had to end up paying the extra $600, nobody ever helped me look into this and nobody ever called me back.

The movers were very professional themselves, but my mirror was broken upon arrival.

I would NOT recommend this company as you will not be able to get any answers from these people and FALSE PRICING.

Long-distance move from Valparaiso, IN to Auburndale, FL

This is the worst company ever.

First of all they led me to believe that they would be my mover. Then I found out that they are only contractors and hired another company to pick up and deliver my furniture. They were a day late picking up my furniture and that cost me 250.00 dollars They said the truck broke down. Then the next day they showed up at 7:00 pm on august 15th.After that the took my furniture to a storage area in Ohio. I did not see my furniture again until September 29th.All the while I called and they could not tell me where and when I would receive my furniture. I was led to believe they were going to take my furniture directly to Florida when they loaded my furniture on the truck. Do not use this company !!

Long-distance move from Wrightstown, NJ to Tampa, FL

Bait And Switch Scam

Steve Ross at Authority Moving Group reduced my quote to price match a competitor in order for me to sign up and give half down deposit. I gave 50% deposit for a move from New Jersey to Florida. The movers disassembled the dresser mirror, bed frame, dining table and sofa and I was told the items will be assembled upon delivery. They are not movers, they broker out the moves to other companies. When the movers came to pick up, they showed up with a rented Budget Rental box truck. Two of the three men barely spoke English and I was told the cubic feet doubled and had to pay an additional $1,099.00. At that point I felt I had no choice since I gave them the deposit and now they have my furniture. I called Customer Service inquiring what doubled in space and was told a they did not know. When the furniture arrived in Florida, Joshua the driver was rude, nasty and did not assemble the items. Trying to reach Steve and Customer Service was like chasing a runaway train. Awful experience.
