American Eagle Moving Company

DO NOT USE! I scheduled a move through Eagle Moving mid-June 2022 for a late July 2022 move from Boston-Philadelphia. Since I scheduled a month in advanced and am a student they gave me a discount and estimated me around $2,400 and 350 cubic feet. I confirmed my inventory with their inventory control manager and was all set. They even told me I might have extra space in the truck if I needed anything else.

The movers showed up and took a look at my apartment and essentially told me that Eagle Moving way underestimated the amount of space I was going to need and demanded I paid them an additional $1400 in cash that day and an additional $1600 on drop off or they wouldn't take my stuff.

Eagle Moving drastically underestimates the moving cost knowing that the day of the move you are going to be in a bind and end up paying it. They convinced me to put the deposit down and were incredibly misleading with the cost. I ended up having to purchase an additional 300 cubic feet. I understand if the estimate is a little off but they underestimated by quote by half which was no mistake by them. They have ghosted me since and refuse to refund me any of the money. Instead of paying $2400 like they said I ended up paying a total of $6,000. I spoke with them as a 26 year old female moving 400 miles away and as a student about how terrible they should feel for distorting people but they had no sympathy, completely knowing how corrupt their business is.

Eagle moving has been one of the worst experiences I have ever had. I would absolutely never recommend them and they are a morally corrupt company. I will review them on every website so no one falls in the same trap that I did.They have not tried to compensate me for underquoting me by $3,600.

Dont ever think of hiring this company for your move. They are very helpful until they get your 35% deposit. Once you pay the deposit, you are screwed. Nobody will respond. They give you all false information on the phone just to get your deposit. I was initially quoted for $2000 for a small 2 bed room apartment and ended up paying $4800. I still had to throw away my couch, dining table, computer table. I still don't understand why I had to pay 5k.

All positive reviews here are fake. They just lie to your face on each and everything right from your quote to insurance to additional charges.

Liars liars liars. BEWARE

Update: after paying $4800 for a small 2br apartment move of 400 miles, they damaged my bed and drill holes however they want. Such a horrible service.

Just better off from this company.

After 20 years of living in the Detroit area, my family accumulated a ton of stuff as seen in my pictures (not proud of the amount we had). It came time for us to move back home to Central Illinois and I had no idea where to even begin looking for a mover. A friend suggested American Eagle, and after receiving their quote, we decided to go with them. The moving guys were quick to get us packed up and were very diligent in taking care of our belongings, many of which are antiques. They were also very courteous and professional throughout the entire process. Our things made it to our new home within the week and were in great condition. I was worried about trusting everything to strangers but after my experience with American Eagle, I would not hesitate to use them again. They definitely know what they are doing, and I recommend them to anyone with moving needs.

Move size: 4 Bedroom Home Service cost: $3200

This is by far the worst moving experience I've ever had (and I've moved over 20 times in my adult life. First, the quote was handled over the phone and I was told that my move would cost $2,200 (454 sq. ft.), give or take a few square feet of space needs. When I called, my number 1 priority, as concerned the move particulars, was that I have full packing and unpacking service. I was also told by Scott that I would have him personally supervising my entire move.

When the packers (Ari, Elvis, James and Luisni) came, they began packing and a couple of hours later they told me that my packed items took up nearly TWICE (or 875 sq. ft.) the space that had been quoted to me, so it would cost more. Further, upon completion, I was informed that neither the packing or unpacking was included in the cost, so I would need to pay $875 for the packing and an additional $875 for the unpacking. This brought my bill to $6,264 - not kidding - and they already had my things packed up in the truck (later, I learned what happened if one balked at the price).. Keep in mind that this was a move from South Florida to Atlanta and it was a 1-bedroom apartment.. They also told me that they would be the same people who delivered my items. I tipped them $20 per person and went out earlier in the move to get them all Gatorade, but still..

Finally, when the truck came to unpack me, there was 1-guy, Chris, who had neither an idea of how to, nor any expectation that, he would be unpacking me AND told me that I would have to pay an additional $75 "elevator" fee and a $75 "long-haul" fee. This was TOO much (it already had been in retrospect), so I made him wait to unload the truck, until I had a chance to call my "personal" representative, Scott (RIGHT!). Anyway, after dealing with frontline sales and being passed to Customer Service, I spoke with Kevin and then one other (don't recall his name) person and was told that there would be NO adjustments to my bill and further, if I held the driver any longer, I would pay a minimum of $675 more, followed by angry protestations that I "wasn't listening." Anyway, I was in between a rock and a hard place, so I let Chris (and his helper that joined him 2 hours in, Herbert) unload me - they put the bed back together and the legs on my couch, but NO unpacking.. AND, both of my bookcase sides had breakage..

Weeks later, I was going to show off my coin collections - two: 1 of State Quarters ($2,000 value) and 1 of Kennedy 1/2 Dollars ($2,200 value), I found out that they were nowhere to be found - someone in one of these legs had clearly stolen them, as nothing else was missing (I should be happy, right?). People asked if I reported them stolen to the company and I assured them that they would not care in the least.. Make your own determination if you must, but I cannot begin to tell you how much I regret hiring them to do my move.

Move size: 1 Bedroom Home Service cost: $6264

This really was a strike to the head. I thought this was going to be so expensive but it was so affordable and a great experience overall.

I was done packing and I still needed to get more stuff in boxes. The 4 guys showed up and made sure it was done for me. No damage either.

When the delivery day came so quickly, which is a huge God sense. The price was affordable and the furniture was in the same conditions. Talk about a happy girl. This one right here. Many blessings to all at American Eagle.

Move size: 3 Bedroom Home Service cost: $7419

First of all, my items were picked up on June 23, 2018 and not delivered until July 30, 2018. The move was only 270 miles from destination to destination in the same state. We were told our items would be delivered 4 days after being packed up. After numerous phone calls, countless hours on hold, told all different stories from several rude customer service people and almost tripled the quoted price, after our items were loaded on the truck, I can’t even begin to tell you how frustrated and sorry I am for ever hiring them. Please do not consider this company for any move.

Move size: 1 Bedroom Home Service cost: $2100

They were supposed to pick up my items on July 30th and it's August 1st and all I have been told is maybe they will be here August 3rd or 6th. It's not like I need to be at my new location. I have gotten multiple calls from people at the company providing contradicting statements demonstrating a lack of internal communication. The dispatcher is rude and quick to blame you when clearly he is incompetent. I can't wait to see how they try to jack up the price if and when they ever get here. At this point I do not expect my items to ever make it to the destination.

Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $2500

These guys were absolutely a dream come true. Seriously! I had a mover cancel on me last minute so in a panic I went online looking for movers. I received a call from James, and he immediately addressed all my issues and made sure he had all of my information. After probably the most stressful week of my life with the closing of the home and my new home being delayed, American Eagle was my only saving grace. I would recommend them to anyone in my network, and will not hesitate to use this service again in the future.

Update: 8/7:
I found that, by clicking the link to review their USDOT information (link found at top right of this page), they are officially marked as "Out of Service". That same site says they only have TWO movers, so the odds of me getting my things even within the next few months are slim.

"Dave S." if you're reading this, please don't tell me to call your 1-844 number to get ahold of you, as no one answers or responds to voicemails. I'm on business day 18 of not having my items delivered to me - I was promised I would have them in 21 business days.

Once they get your deposit all happy/successful customer service engagement ends, and they completely fall off the face of the planet. I've been calling customer service, sales, and dispatch once a day for two weeks. My dad has done the same and left one voicemail a day for over a week now. No response, I have no clue where my stuff is, and there's no end in sight.

Wish I could have put a rating of zero. I had a binding moving contract to move my furniture. They took my deposit of $910 and NEVER picked my furniture. At first I got an excuse about the truck being full and another truck requested, and then they just blocked my calls altogether. Now they refuse to refund my deposit because that is what it says in the contract. I was forced to put my furniture in storage and then hire another mover at the last minute. I think reviews of 5 star must be self created.

When I started to search for moving companies I was bombarded by four or five different companies that decided to call me text me email me and basically knock on my front door. I was just about fed up with talking to and trying to find a company that was absolutely legitimate in their business affairs.

I came across Nick who was a phenomenal and knowledgeable and polite gentleman who guided me and guy did my wife through the entire process of what to expect and what to look out for when speaking with other companies.

When the day came around for the movers to show up they arrived on time in uniform they were clean and the truck was clean that scored huge points with my wife and I. I was absolutely amazed by how quick and proficient the gentlemen were that packed up and disassembled and wrapped up all of our furniture.

All of my wife’s stuff that she is very sentimental about was handled like it had a very big red sign that said fragile on it. When everything was loaded into the truck a huge sigh of relief came over both of us.

When the day for delivery came everything looked like it was loaded and they unloaded everything into my house unwrap everything put everything back into the places that we asked. We were both very very happy with the services that American eagle gave us.

I will tell all of my friends all of my family and all of my new coworkers that when it is time to relocate for work or just relocate to retire to get on the phone and call Nick or call anyone at American Eagle.

Thank you Nick I really appreciate how courteous you were and how much of a gentleman your workers were Towards myself and my wife.

Our belongings were picked up (after paying the deposit and $685 CASH before movers would load) 7/30/18 in Summerfield FL to be delivered in 7-10 days to Ashland NE. Still haven’t received our possessions and they never kept me apprised of location, status, or ETA of the shipment as promised by the rep. I dealt with who gave me the quote, took my order and deposit, his direct contact number and email address. I have called and texted every phone number I can find for American Eagle Moving and I have sent emails and an overnight delivery certified letter to the company—still no suitable response or information. I’m sickened to think I may have been scammed or am a victim of fraud or theft, but mostly I’m heartbroken that I may have forever lost my recently deceased husband’s photos, our momentoes, and his Navy and Vietnam veteran service ribbons. Had I thought this would happen and the company was going to be so insensitive and unprofessional I would never had employed American Eagle Moving.

I thought this was going to be a disaster. My brother reserved a moving company and 4 days, yes 4 DAYS before they were suppose to be at my house they cancelled.

I was scared and worried that someone was going to charge me whatever they wanted.

I spoke with Tony at American Eagle and he was so kind and beyond helpful. The knowledge that he armed me with, made everything seem like it was going to be ok.

They had the availability to get me moved and I took it. The loading and unloading went perfect. The price was a little less than I was going to charged, which I thought how, but I didn’t worry about it. Thanks a billion Tony, you deserve a plaque or a medal.

This is seriously a very reliable company. They not only sure that my first two moves went smoothly, but this time, my third move went even better than I could’ve imagained.

I totally forgot that as I grow, I’m sure companies to as well. They showed that first hand to me. I had no issues on any of the three moves that I had with American Eagle. This one was the most important one because of the time crunch that I was on. Just like the past though, they exceeded my expectations. Jared has helped me on all three moves and the fact that he got me a discount this time was amazing.

Move size: 4 Bedroom Home Service cost: $8045

I was relocated for my job and I ran into so many barriers that life just became difficult. I spoke with my apartment complex and they didn’t want to let me break my lease without paying a crazy amount.

With the move and the old apartment and new apartment I was going to be about $430 short. I think my prayers were answeed because the movers knew my situation and helped me save almost $600.

I am so blessed and I think that the best part of this situation is to always remember who looks after you in all cases.

Move size: 3 Bedroom Home Service cost: $5980

Pickup 2 days late Delivery 28 days late. Charged for entire truck when belongings only took 2/3 of truck and another customers things were added to truck.
Truck was driven illegally on Ocean Parkway in Brooklyn NY. Went under a low bridge and ripped the top off. Truck was abandoned on side of road and towed to impound and left there for 10 days with no roof, open to rain and heat. Accident on July 1 and company never informed us. Goods delivered on Aug 3. Boxes had all been repacked. Random things thrown together: kitchen goods with pictures in frames, Christmas items with games, a box of over100 DVDs with an inch of water in the plastic container which had the top crushed and the contents of 8 large UHaul boxes of clothes stuffed into 5 kitchen sized garbage bags, damp and molding.

James, original Service Rep was told to not respond to my phone calls or texts. James said American Eagle Moving was not a broker, shipped only in American Eagle truck which had clearly marked cubic foot lines so the customer knew exactly how much they were shipping. James said they did not use subcontractors and the cost was $6.00/c.f.

The truck that arrived was a Penske truck that was rented in Dayton OH by moving.net, 2776 E 65th St, Brooklyn NY. 11234 201-443-7171. The truck that delivered was a different Penske truck (I have photos of both trucks license plates) and the movers said they were subcontracted by American Eagle.

I have phoned and texted Isaac Zait, 201-443-7171, American Eagle, and Service Rep, James, 551-800-1114 multiple times and they will not respond.

Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $11650

This move was nothing but Joy brought into my life. I was bombarded by calls by every company that you could dream of.

Larry called and seemed to care about my wants and needs when it comes to moving to a new home and new state. My husband said he sounded like a genuine person too and that's saying a lot.

Move day was easy as well as the delivery day. We were kept in the loop on when to expect everything whether it was pickup or delivery.

With customer service like they gave my family, they deserve 5 stars and a huge hug. Thank you and bless you all.

I took a new job and knew that moving was going to be a huge part in this. I was thinking that the move may be a little stressful because why not, I am moving all my stuff.

I told a few companies what I was looking for and the only thing it seemed like they were looking for was my wallet.

Ethan from American Eagle seemed to care less about money and all about assisting me. He made sure I knew what was going to happen and how the days were going to go.

The pick up was exactly as described. The nice packing of all my boxes and furniture was done, as well as my floors were protected. Easy easy.

The drop off was faster and seemed to be so simple for the movers. They were so happy and thankful that we were polite to them.

I can’t thank you all enough. You saved me from having a stroke and nervous breakdown.

When I first spoke to Darren it was a great conversation and it was very informational. I did not have a clue of what to expect when it comes to moving.

I felt / thought that I knew everything after or conversation. I was ready and packed up with the kind hand holding that I required. I knew that the move was going to go great because of my intuition.

I was right and I had all my ducks in a row. This was great from the beginning all the way to the end. The price was so fair and I was absolutely impressed with this companies ethics. If you are moving call Darren or anyone really at American Eagle they will help for sure.

Move size: 4+ Bedroom Home Service cost: $14105

The company picked my stuff on 6/26 with one bedroom furniture and 16 boxes of personal stuff. I was told they will deliver the stuff in 3-5 days. The estimate is $1667, but the guy who picked up insisted that I pay $2773. For the next 3-4 weeks, we contacted the company so many times and first we were told that our account was handled by another department, and the other department never picked up the phone. We filed police report, BBB, FMCSA, and the guy who picked up the stuff, who turned out to be the president of the company, repeated lied to us and threaten us: "call the police, I don't care!" Of course, police refused to search for them because they has a DOT #.
Today is 9/16, my check was cached a long time ago, and my stuff totally disappeared. Today I received a message from BBB that American Eagle LLC replied to them that they don't have my account on their system. What a laugh! I have the moving sheet with me with my account #AH833079.

Move size: 1 Bedroom Home Service cost: $2773

There were many companies that contacted us to move. They all seemed pushy and like their rent was due that day or else we weren’t going to be able to move.

Not a fun experience to go through. Not at all. When Justin called from American Eagle you could hear the sincerity in his voice that he wanted to help and take care of us.

I never thought a mover was going to be so affordable to move as far as we did. They were though.

The phone calls from Justin were informative and so helpful. He made sure he held our hand the entire way through. He even checked in on us before move day.

The 4 men that arrived were in uniform and the truck was very clean with all the logos, phone numbers, and website. Very good looking truck. They were so quick and careful loading our stuff.

The delivery was just as wonderful as the pickup. They were polite and careful and they set everything up for us. So glad they went the extra mile for us.

When we paid the bill it was spot on from what we were quoted. That was the shocking part. Thank you Justin and Thank you American Eagle for the excellent service and move.

Move size: 4 Bedroom Home Service cost: $9640

First red flag: why is every review either 5 stars or 1 star? It's because the 5 star reviews are fake.

1. They gave us an unrealistically low estimate. We said 25 boxes and some furniture items. We ended up with 28 boxes and less furniture, yet once they loaded the truck, they said it was double the price. And we had to move out the next day so had no choice but pay. This is part of their plan.
2. They stole our deposit. They asked for a 35% deposit. We gave our account and routing number, and they generated this bogus check that said "Billing department." Then when they picked up our stuff, the movers said we didn't pay a deposit. Of course, no one's in the office (no one is EVER in the office except for temps that they hire every week), so we had to pay the deposit twice. They promised a refund, but after a month of phone calls and lies about calling us back, they said they wouldn't refund.
3. We changed the delivery address. They confirmed with us 3 times. Then on the day they were supposed to deliver, the movers were at the original address, 2 hours away. The office and the movers DO NOT TALK to each other. The office just takes your money and ignores you once they have your stuff. They subcontract movers, these guys are just random guys that rent trucks. Every truck we saw with them was unmarked. They said either I go to them for my stuff or they'll put it in storage and I'll have to deal with it. So I had to drive 2 hours, get a Uhaul, and drive two hours back.
4. The movers said they couldn't bring the 18-wheeler into my neighborhood (which is a lie, I see them come through all the time, as the house is on a main road). They said I had to pay a $500 shuttle fee. I said no, that I would rent a uhaul. Turns out, they had just rented a uhaul to provide "shuttle service" for another delivery (the uhaul person told me, and they had a uhaul truck with them). They literally lie to you and say that they can't take the truck into your neighborhood, then they charge you $500 to rent a uhaul for $40. It's all part of their plan to rip you off.
5. Our boxes were totally smashed up. Things were spilling out of ripped boxes. We saw the inside of the 18-wheeler. Things were thrown haphazardly. Everyone's boxes were ripped apart. The movers kept asking us, "Is this yours?" and showing us other people's things. They also lost some of our shelves.
6. Once they have your money and your stuff, they will ignore you. They're open 9-5pm but take 11-1pm lunch. I think they hire temps, because every week or two an extension would stop working and I'd be directed to someone new. They will NEVER let you talk to management. They will say that the manager will call you once they're out of a meeting and will never call.
7. They will NOT GIVE YOU RECEIPTS OR ANY PAPERWORK. When they movers picked our stuff up, they had me sign all of this stuff, and before I knew it, they left without leaving me copies! I called so many times asking for copies, and it was always, "Oh I'm just a secretary, everyone's in a meeting." This meeting lasted a week. Then it's always, "They'll call you right back." They never do. They took all of our money, stole our deposit, took our things, and refused to give us any paperwork. We didn't get a copy until the movers delivered our things (to the wrong address 2 hours away).

In summary,
1. The 5 star reviews are fake. Just think about it. What company is either 5 stars or 1 star? The 5-star reviews are fake and the 1-star are real. Every 1-star review reads the same, and 100% echoes my experience.
2. Once they have your stuff and your money, they will never help you.
3. The office and the actual movers do not communicate at all.
4. They will steal your deposit and make sure there's no papertrail. NEVER TRUST A COMPANY THAT WON'T ACCEPT CREDIT CARDS. Credit cards leave a papertrail and you can dispute charges.
5. They will underestimate costs then double costs once they have your stuff and you have no other options. DO NOT TRUST A MOVING COMPANY THAT WONT SEND SOMEONE TO MAKE AN ESTIMATE. My move was ultimately $5,000. What company would be unwilling to send one person for an hour in exchange for a $5,000 transaction?
6. They will destroy and mix up your things.
7. They will lie about where their trucks can go because they know that chances are, you won't be able to rent a uhaul and do it yourself. They rip you off for $500 for this "shuttle service."
8. This is not a real moving company. It's a handful of guys in an office somewhere that hire temps to answer phones. Then they pay other people (I think of the 6 movers I interacted with, 2 spoke English) to move your stuff. They don't talk to the movers, and the movers aren't actual employees.

This company will steal your money, rip you off, and destroy or lose your things.
