Very professional!

I'm a cleaner and we showed up to a move-out clean without the client telling us prior that the movers would still be there. Usually it's difficult to work around other tradespeople, but I'm actually really glad 2 Burley Guys were there! They were super great, professional and friendly, and communicated with us on where they were at (so that we could clean areas where there were no personal belongings). Great group of guys, and if I wasn't a minimalist I'd hire them too! ?

Very nice guys

Thank you Bert & Shanu (aka Bert & Ernie). Josh, the owner, was very professional and always kept me up date on any changes. Bert and Shanu were very quick, professional, and took time to ensure a safe delivery on my belongings. The only issue I experienced was with someone called Amit who treated me over the phone, as I was trying to pay, like I was some kind of scammer. His attitude towards women is very poor.

A Terrible Company

This is just a terrible company. The men doing the moving are ignorant. They do not know what they are doing.

The supervisors and managers are arrogant. They spoke to me like I was a child who did not understand what I was talking about.

I could see the damage done to my goods, but I guess that doesn’t count.

I hired them to move some of my possessions that were in storage at my sister’s place in Alberta to my new apartment in Vancouver BC. I took the week off from work so I could get all the boxes ready for loading, see them get loaded, and then receive them.

We arranged for them to arrive on a Tuesday, load the goods, and deliver them on Thursday. I booked my flight home for the Wednesday. The movers did not show up until the Thursday, after I had to fly home, leaving my sister to supervise the loading. The excuses were that the other job they were doing was taking longer than expected, and there was some mechanical issue with the van. The movers did not arrive with my goods until the following Monday, after I had gone back to work. They unloaded my goods starting at 7 pm, until about 10.

A lot of the boxes had damage to them from being put under a great many other boxes. Even some plastic totes suffered damage. A rare Star Wars portfolio was bent out of shape, making it useless as a collector’s item. And on and on.

I noticed one of the movers piling boxes up against the blinds on my balcony door. I asked him not to do that, and moved the boxes away from the blinds. The very next load, he did it again, and he actually broke off one of the slats.

When I spoke to the company to complain about the damage was when the arrogance of the manager came through. I could hear the sneer in her voice as I catalogued the damages. After a few days she came back with an offer of $3.00 to repair the blind. That was it.

I heard from them again a few days later, asking if I had any extra boxes among my goods. Apparently the other move that was in the same van had some boxes go missing. If you use this company, do so at your own risk, and expect your goods to be damaged, if not missing, after the move is done.

Long-distance move from Terrace, BC to Red Deer, AB

Very Professional, great experience

My mom and I moved from Terrace, BC (way north) all the way to Red Deer, AB. The two guys who showed up (Chris and... I'm sorry I forget the other name) phoned with updates the whole time they traveled to our old house and to our new house. They were extremely professional the whole move. They expertly blanketed and wrapped every piece of furniture we had to keep it safe and clean. They were extremely careful to stack boxes safely and tightly so nothing shifted in transport. We had more stuff than they expected, and the quote was off due to my mom not including a lot of things she wanted to bring. They didn't complain at all, and between the two guys, managed to pack up our 3 bedroom house all in one day. We had 2 slightly scuffed pieces, and one broken glass on a picture from the entire move! They were extremely careful. They even apologized for a piece of furniture they couldn't get down the strange angle of our new stairs that we didn't anticipate. They even arrives a day earlier than expected. Overall. I would highly recommend this company for long distance moves based on this experience.

Large move from View Royal to North Saanich

We had a HUGE move (with way more things then we thought) and they got it done with efficiency and care. Paul Q and Casper were super professional and friendly. I noticed how well they worked as a team and they knew exactly how to handle some of the bigger and more awkward items that had to be moved. We were very happy with their service and would definitely recommend them.

Missing Boxes

Do not use these guys. They "lost" some of my stuff. I hired them for a move from Alberta to BC. Packing went ok. However, in BC it took me a while to unpack everything and when I was done I noticed that there were several boxes missing. I contacted them about the missing boxes and they said they didn't have them and offered no explanation on why they did not get delivered to my new house. Missing items included some irreplaceable sentimental items. I am disgusted by their so-called service. When you hire a moving company you expect that they will move everything and not "misplace" any of your stuff. I regret not going with Allied Van Lines.

Would pay for all of building damage they did.

Showed up on moving day with a contract they didn’t tell me about. Contract stated I’m liable for damage to surrounding structures during the move. I didn’t agree that I should be responsible if a mover damaged the property.

Movers called their boss who told me any damage like that would be covered and agreed to modify the contract to exclude my liability to pay for building damage. Mover initialed change with the bosses agreement.

Movers gouged one of the hallway walls during the move, $500 to repair. Moving company only agrees to pay for paint damage, $150. I have to pay the balance of repairs personally because they don’t accept the changes to the contract that their representative agreed to and I guess they figure they shouldn’t have to pay for all the damage done to a property by their employees.

Move from Victoria to Sherwood Park.

They left our goods in Langley for a week or so, brand new mattress had rust from the hinges of the truck and sat for a week soaking wet, it had rained there a lot. So if you value your things, not a good idea. Earl goes back on his word every single time, don't believe anything he says. I felt sorry the moving guys. In the end I got $139, and no reduced rate for a move that took 15 days instead of 3-6. I asked if it was worth a $50 reduction in cost to get a bad review, he said have a nice day! Good advertising bad service!
2 previous moves with them were no problem, there has been a big change in this company and it's not good!

Move.

I am very disappointed in our move from Morinville AB to Nelson BC.
First of all the guys that were loading us in Morinville, AB did not get to our place until 230 in the afternoon and were expected by 9 AM at the latest. Got the excuse two guys quit. The two guys did work hard and got our stuff loaded in 4 hours.
We had asked for a delivery date of August 6th and were told that it would be. The 6th came and I had to call at 3 PM that day and told that the truck broke down and it would be delivered on Thursday August 8th. I call that day and was told Saturday the 10th. I also called Saturday and found out it would be Sunday. Finally our furniture was delivered on the 11th which my husband had to accept delivery because I had to leave due to a death in the family, which I had told Earl about.
The damage I found when I returned home was the legs on the headboard of the bed were broken and one missing, the microwave was all scratched which I will post pictures, articles were missing as well. Our green furniture dolly and our two step folding ladder.
I was also told a flat rate of $400. Would be added to hold our furniture until the 6th and I noticed on the invoice a charge of $519.00.

Damage & Dishonesty

If you want a company who will send a crew of angry apathetic chain smokers to damage your belongings then this is the company to hire. Countless damage to our furniture. Unresponsive and unprofessional. Owner Scott won't return calls. Hides behind Claims manager Cheryl to do the dirty work of denying the damage his crews do. BEWARE of this dishonest unprofessional company. They do not honour the insurance they sell. Read all of their negative reviews carefully& Believe them. Small claims court here we come.

The amount of Damage

They showed up to move our things out of the kitchen as we were getting our hardwood floors done, they damaged the hutch, inside door frame, out side door frame, floors were scratched. They dismantled the fridge completely and they weren't supposed to disconnect the water line from the fridge, but they did even though I had a plumber on his way and they didn't want to wait. The plumber showed up 5 minutes later.

Then, they came back as they had to put the fridge back together and again the damage was incredible.

They dented the fridge in 2 spots scratched the hutch again, lost the brackets for it, door frame and phantom door damaged.

Had to deal with Service - what a piece of work, as they only offered $140.00 and doesn't cover the repairs at all. Originally, said they would sand and fill, but not paint, and then the office administrator said no. After I told service about the additional damage, the person still said only $142. It doesn't matter 1 scratch or 2, so basically they can do all the damage they want and only give you so much money.

This company is brutal. Never again

NEVER HIRE 2 BURLEY MEN

The reviews on this site of poor service, extensive damage, and poor treatment by company representatives are ALL TRUE. The two sets of crews I had were nice young men HOWEVER the damage was extensive to my property and Scott Burley and Cheryl and this company relied on weasel clauses to not take responsibility for all the damage to my property.

DO NOT EVER trust your belongings to 2 Burley Men - overcharged (bill was more than $4,000.00 to move from Edmonton to the Island when quoted circa $2,500) and there is extensive damage to my belongings, a claims process they hide behind, I was yelled at unprofessionally by the owner Scott. It is not a company I will ever ever recommend and I will be doing my best to ensure widespread knowledge 2 Burley Men will rip you off and wreck your stuff!! They are not the ones to trust EVER.

Moving

Stay clear! It took 4 phone calls before they would even confirm a pick up date of June 24th, 2021. They arrived with a truck that was more than half full from a previous pick up so couldn't fit all our items even though this was a very small, partial move. They then made 2 trips to collect our items and we agreed to put it all into storage for a short while so they could figure out a plan. After 11 days without hearing from them we called them only to find out we were now looking at August for a delivery date. We then got mad, they upped the delivery to July 13 and upped our bill from $5,000 to $8,000.00 and said we had to pay in full before they would leave Edmonton. We now just want to another moving company get our belongings out of storage but they won't release our items unless we now pay $4,000.00. $4,000 for 8 hours of loading @ $130.00/hr is $1,000, not $4,000. Just a note, the actual movers were FANTASTIC! They were fast, hard working and really took care of all our belongings. This is not a complaint against them. The company itself that handles the billing and communication is HORRIBLE! They will not give us the weigh bill tickets to prove the weight charges they claim add up to $8,000. This would be super simple but they won't. My advice: record ALL your phone calls, ask to see the weigh bill tickets before and immediately after your items are loaded (follow them if necessary). Get a written confirmation of dates. Video tape your items. Or just go with another moving company. There are so many that are better!

Worst experience ever!.

They picked up MY 2 chairs from Calgary to move them to the Okanagan, then lost the chairs for 3weeks. With and absolutely no real answers and Horrible communication once they found the chairs stated they would be here in a weeks time…. 4 weeks after they picked up MY chairs they finally had them in the Okanagan, making me wait until 7:30 pm at my work to be dropped off. When the chairs finally arrived, they were torn up and would need to be fully reupholstered to save them.. The delivery driver demanded payment( I refused to pay) until I talked to his boss to discuss. Because it was 7:30 on a Saturday no bosses could be bothered to answer either my call or the drivers. So they wrapped MY damaged chairs and took them with them. This company is an absolute joke and I would 100% never recommend them. Ever. They are thieves. As far as I am concerned they just stole my belongings.

Delivery service

Company was contracted by furniture store to deliver a bedroom suite to me. The guys were rude, when asked to please remove their shoes, they laughed..? When I questioned them on the type of delivery service I was getting (furniture store told me it would be "white glove"), one of the guys swore and started to return my items to the truck. They had to return after leaving as they left an item in their truck. I did not receive the legs for my bed.. furniture store had to courier new ones. Terrible experience, will never use or recommend this company.

Abysmal

Moved BC to Alberta. Was quoted around $2500 was charged $4500. Most of my items were damaged. They do not cover boxes you pack yourself but also will not pack your boxes for you. They do not cover your "cheap shitty pressboard shelves". They left half my shelves in Nanaimo because "they wouldn't fit in the truck". they brought the individual shelves but not the unit they belong to. They lost the seat for my canoe. They lost the lever for my arm chair. The damaged my tv stand that was only a year old and costed over $200. The people loading the truck were very angry and swore a lot. The people unpacking a different truck 2 weeks later were very defensive and made a lot of excuses. A two week wait for my belongings, most of it damaged. The insurance claim was calculated based on an estimated cubic feet of items they do cover which got me a whole $200 that had not yet been paid to me.

Do not use their services. Hire your friends and a truck. Like pay your friends a grand each for their help. You'll still come out ahead with nothing damaged and all your stuff.

Horrific Experience

Stay clear of this company. They are scammers and will destroy your property. They kept our entire household contents for over a year, and still have it all. We went to court and 2 burley men, specifically the owner, lied over and over again. The workers that arrived late to move us, took many smoke breaks, packed things I asked them not to pack, broke and scratched so many of our things (the court let us take a couple of items out of storage, so we got to see the damage), dramatically increased the price upon delivery, asked for cash, and then refused to unload our stuff if we didn’t pay more.

Move from Lloydminster to Kelowna.

Much thanks needs to go to Jesse and Hubba, 2 FABULOUS men who packed all our stuff from my 2 bedroom apartment in Lloydminster and delivered each and every piece of furniture unscathed to Kelowna. They were efficient and careful with every piece.
They were initially early for the pick up but was happy to grab a cup of coffee to give us another hour to finish. They managed to drop off our stuff the same day we arrived in Kelowna which made such a great difference to us.
Many thanks again to 2 Burley Men and to Jesse and Hubba!! They come highly recommended!

Sofa move over balcony.

This company and its employees were great, they arrived on time, looked at some options for moving a long sofa via stairs and then lowered over a balcony. At the other end much to my dismay the sofa needed to be hoisted up to the 5th floor balcony .. I was seriously close to losing it but was reassured by the employees that "everything would be fine". They even consoled our cat ! Nice work guys I recommend them for sure.

2 Burley Men Moving.. Not much to say. They gave a quote and once they had my stuff they doubled the price and are holding it ransom. They also refused to deliver it on the agreed upon date and have been giving me the runaround about when I can have my stuff. It's been over two weeks and I have nothing and have had to go and buy items so I could eat and have cloths to go to work. They don't respect people at all and have hung up on me several times when I've tried to resolve this issue. Just disgusting!!

Local move.

I hired 2BM to move my legally blind frail 89 year old father. Because they were 3 hours late the move was no longer possible on the day scheduled. The company informed me that 1) this not unusual or out of the ordinary 2) 2BM doesn't overbook 3) forget about any financial consideration or compensation. There are much better moving companies than 2BM out there.

Nanaimo to AB.

Last week we survived a disaster of a move . The guys who pick up our load were 30 mins late but he had phoned the night before to confirm he was coming. Had marked all my stuff as heavy or very heavy and fragile but I don't know why I bothered. When our stuff eventually arrived the heavy stuff was at the to of a pile of totes the bottom ones of which were squashed. When van had not arrived at our new home, I phoned the driver's cell and got the message that the number was not assigned even though I spoke to him on it the day before. I call the office and was told that they were delayed by the fires and would arrive about 10am the next day. A different crew came with our stuff and told us that the driver had dumped the truck at the depot and disappeared. He quit. When I phoned on Monday I was told the driver had hurt his back and was unable to continue. I tend to believe the second crew as his phone was cancelled. Whatever is the truth I do like appreciate being lied to. I know you do not cover damages even it is items that the guys pack in blankets but they did not take great care of my belongings. I will never recommend your company to any body who asks about our move.

Awful service from AB to BC.

Beware. These guys don't cover much and what little they do cover is based on weight -- not actual value of items!
First off, we didn't know when they'd arrive to pack and move our stuff until two days prior even though we'd booked weeks in advance. They arrived two hours earlier than they were supposed to and gave me attitude because they had to wait while I got off work early. Then they quoted me 2hrs of work when it was actually almost five. They said two guys didn't show up. One of the guys that was there was clearly hungover so bad he kept throwing up in my bathroom almost every 5mins! So gross. When they arrived at my nee place, we found out that they broke a small side table (not covered), had packed stuff I had told them not to and didn't pack things they should have (like the nuts and bolts and screws to my kids' bunkbed - had to pack those in my suitcase and pay for a checked bag - or the glass food containers to go with all the lids). To top it off they stained a lampshade, damaged a computer chair and broke our smart TV. Do you know what they offered for the hassle and damaged/missing parts? $250. Definitely don't recommend these guys!!

2 Burley Men.

While the move was fast the mover told me that my two boxes of dishes were dropped from above his head and a bunch broke. Despite admitting negligence the company refuses to take any responsibility.
Use at your own risk. Their customer service was poor in my opinion.
Even though the bill came in $500 than estimated their claims person would not even have a conversation about how to resolve the issue and instead told
me “we don’t take responsibility if you pack dishes” as though dropping a box of dishes from 6+ feet is normal.
I was horribly disappointed.
