Long-distance move from Osoyoos, BC to Camrose, AB

2 Burley Men.

While the move was fast the mover told me that my two boxes of dishes were dropped from above his head and a bunch broke. Despite admitting negligence the company refuses to take any responsibility.
Use at your own risk. Their customer service was poor in my opinion.
Even though the bill came in $500 than estimated their claims person would not even have a conversation about how to resolve the issue and instead told
me “we don’t take responsibility if you pack dishes” as though dropping a box of dishes from 6+ feet is normal.
I was horribly disappointed.

Moving company.

This company is not one I would recommend for your move. I live in Campbell River BC and booked them for a local move. They told me it would be 15 minutes travel time. On the morning of the move, the driver called to check my address as he could not find it on google maps. That’s because the dispatcher put it down as a Comox address. I ended up being charged 1.5 hours travel time and they refuse to reimburse me. The truck leaked water all over my boxes and the movers were especially slow. I have moved many times and this company most definitely rates the lowest. They provide a phone number for Campbell River, yet do not have trucks here. Very misleading!

Move from 70 Mile House to Qualicum Beach.

I will start off with a pleasant experience with the two fellows who arrived at our home, Barry and Alfredo to pack up the furniture. Alfredo kept in touch with us often prior to the move. Everything was wrapped nicely and put into the truck. This was February 27 to arrive to Qualicum on February 28th at 10 AM they were catching the first ferry. They did not get to Nanaimo until 4 PM so I asked them to leave it until the next day March 1st as it was too late for them to start unpacking they both agreed that they would arrive by 10 AM March 1st. They arrived here on time but I did phone Scott Burley (owner) to explain to him that he must have given them more moves to do while down on the coast which made our delivery a day late. Scott is the most rude and arrogant person I have ever spoken to. I felt there should have been a reduction in the cost of the move as they were a day late he just rambled on about how the driver got stuck in the drive way and had to chain up wanted them to take the load back to Victoria in which we would have to pay for. The two fellows especially Barry carried most of the heavy boxes up the stairs, plus the furniture. If I was an employee of Scott's I would recommend he takes a course on Customer Relations but he should realize himself he needs it, he is the most unreasonable person and he just does not care about his customers, just the money upon delivery, that is his main concern no cooperation on his part. Employees, find another job and leave Scott high and dry!! I would recommend the two fellows that moved us but NOT Two Burley Men Moving Company.

Long-distance move from Calgary, AB to Kamloops, BC

Calgary to Kamloops.

I hired this company to move my furniture from Alberta to BC. I confirmed delivery dates throughout the move and planned my travel accordingly. 2 Burley Men Moving informed me AFTER my departure from Alberta that me delivery would be delay due to a "government mandated reset". I called Scott Burley (owner) to complain about the short notice and the additional costs that I was now responsible for as a result. Scott Burley teleconferenced the moving truck and it was confirmed that I was given the wrong date. He then hung up and called me back and called me liar. This owner is a poor example of a leader. He is unethical and dishonest. Scott Burley did not seek or accept responsibility for his actions. He deflected blame and called a veteran a liar. I would advise members of the military community and potential customers to avoid using this company. Spend the extra $500 for professionalism and peace of mind.

Stay away from this mover!

Awful experience with 2 Burley Men in Victoria! They were one and a half hours late, then lackadaisical loading of our boxed items, probably to maximum the load time (and cost). Can you believe 4 hours charged for a studio apartment? This was after we were lowballed with a 2 hour estimate over the phone. A minor irritation was having to had to supply the movers with a Philips screwdriver to disassemble the queen bed because they came without even that rudimentary tool. Then we discovered they had reassembled the bed the wrong way, and we had to take it apart again and put it together correctly. Even a single star rating is overly generous.

Long-distance move from Banff, AB to Vancouver, BC

Friendly driver. Upsetting results. Overcharged.

The only reason this is a 2 star review, is because the driver and his helper was really nice. Unfortunately, that's where positives end. Not only was our solid wood furniture with dents and chips. Almost NONE of the wood furniture came out without some damage. Both of our televisions were damaged. One on the screen and front bezel, and the other just on the front bezel. Our couch was roughed up, luckily it was on the back, which is against the wall in our new place. Luckily, we packed our valuables very well, but even the wine that we packed in wooden crates was at risk, as one of the crates was badly damaged in the move. The two men who moved our things into our new place, took a chunk out of a wall, immediately. I will have to do some patching and painting. When I pointed this out, they didn't care at all. When I told the driver about all of the damage I was noticing, he assured me that I could make a claim with their office and left. When I took all of this up with their office, they offered me around $100. For everything. I still stare at the scratch they put in the front of my television and remember never to hire these criminals again. Oh, and they ended up costing 1000 more than what I was quoted. Of course, it's the classic move, they won't even open the truck until they have your money, so there's nothing you can do at that point. It feels like an absolute scam. Trustworthy movers are few and far between. These are not them.

Excellent Job!

When my moving date was not sure, they replied me back so quickly and told their availability during the weekends. On the day of my moving, Alex and David showed up on time and very efficient.
They are well organized, fast (if your stuff are all in boxes), friendly, and very reliable.
I will recommend this moving company 100%, and for sure I will ask them for my next moving again!!
Don't waist your time finding reliable mover in Victoria.

Moving Experience.

2 Burley Men's long distance haulers Kenny and Tristan, communicated with us frequently, clarifying payment protocol and providing updates on estimated time of arrival. They worked cheerfully, efficiently and carefully, treating our possessions with respect (with the exception of loading a dresser on our TV which had been laying flat). They listened to our placement instructions and followed them precisely. Using movers took the stress out of transporting our possessions.

However, we were very disappointed with the booking agent and the large discrepancy between the quoted estimate and the final cost, which was more than double the estimate. The agent, who was given the information re the size of the storage units and the type of contents did not provide an accurate weight estimate, which was very frustrating! The agent also quoted a $850 poundage cost, an increase of about 33%, from the time of our original conversation and when we actually hired the company. When questioned, he reduced it by $100 dollars. We thought a 33% increase within roughly a year was quite excessive and the overall cost was somewhat higher than anticipated.

We're glad the move is done and we are very appreciative of Kenny and Tristan's work.

My move.

My move went well. The guys were on time.I decided to go with 3 guys to make the move go faster. I feel so bad because the one guy who was in charge, I forgot his name. He was awesome!! He was careful and knew his job. I believe the other 2 guys were Juan and Tim? There were some heavy pieces, like my leather couch, and they managed to get that into the suite I currently am living in. They wrapped all my furniture and they set the beds up too. I thought they were very professional and they did a great job!! This is my third move with the company and I have always been impressed. I will definitely use 2 Burley Men again.

Always A Good Experience.

I have used this company a number of times now. I’ve always had a very good experience both with their booking agents, the movers themselves, and their customer service. There do appear to be a number of negative reviews but keep in mind 2 Burley Men do over 1000 moves per month. Proportionally they are really killing it! Try to book the first move of the day. If that first move of the day goes long a move booked later in the day will necessarily be pushed forward.

Damages.

We hired 2 burley men to move us to a town 20 min away. They were 20 min late and when they got there, the driver promptly told us we had not packed our boxes correctly.
Moving into our brand new home they damaged the bannister and walls. They also pulled hard on our sofa( 6 months old) and damaged it so that reclining is now very difficult to do. After chasing them down for 2 months, they said that they won’t cover our sofa and they will only give us 60.00 to fix the bannister . The home was new. The driver insisted on writing down our credit card info. My wife stated that she would not and the driver got a angry that he left as my wife was calling the company. It was horrible and now we are left with the bill to fix their incompetence.

Long-distance move from Grande Prairie, AB to Victoria, BC

Horrible- this is my first complaint on a company in my life.

We moved from Ab to BC a month ago, we signed on for delivery on Aug 1, our stuff didn't get delivered until the 11th. Also no efforts to contact us were made at all. We tried calling every day from the 2nd on, sometimes we got through and sometimes no one picked up, then they changed the 1 to a 7 on the paperwork saying the delivery date was the 7th, and they still didn't get there until the 11th. They have refused to offer us any compensation even though we had to make new arrangements about where to stay and eating out ect. for all that time, and we were moving with two small children and two big dogs. Would not recommend them to anyone because of of their lack of communication and refusal to help us even though they were clearly in the wrong. They told us they wouldn't unload our stuff until we paid in full, and we were told we could dicker about the bill later. So we have tried talking to them only to get our numbers blocked. We are very easy going people to deal with and this is the first review I have ever took time to leave. Thanks for listening!

Company contracts workers, pays $15.00 - $ 17.00 an hour,.

I was very disappointed with the job. I went the extra mile and ensured that there was a parking spot in front of the house, put cones out to ensure they would have a spot. On arrival I was handed the contract with the change of cost for travel time. The company charges for 15 minutes out yet in was changed to 30 minutes. I was told they came from Esquimalt and they were being paid $15.00, I advised I wasn't going to argue and left it at $30.00 it went downhill from there, one worker stayed in the truck, while the other dragged and carried, I say dragged as both my couch and mattress were pushed across the floor, no drop cloth on the couch or mattress, fortunately I had a mattress cover on the mattress as the cover was dirty from dragging across the floor, no covers put any article before taking to the truck. Boxes were carried two of so at a time no matter the weight, glass left on tables. The driver was proud of his speed and ability to carry more than one article, I didn't hire for speed or ability to carry more than one article, I hired to have my articles safely moved from one house to the other. I looked in the truck to see stools leaning against canvas paintings and prints. When it came time to take the bed apart they had no tools as the person booking the move did not ask me if tools were needed. I was shocked that this would not be a standard item for furniture moving. My husband ended up coming home to take the bed apart. After leaving here they went to the condo, when I arrived there the couch was standing on end in front of the main door, the loveseat in the hall on our floor. I left the building leaving my husband to supervise. The driver was very rude to me. Would recommend this company, most certainly not, they may have received an award in 2014, but doubt if they will receive another.

Bad experience.

I found the guys that did the actual moving very polite and professional, however I will never use or recommend this company ever again. Breakage and water damage to my property even though it was not raining at pick up or delivery. One of three antique pieces of furniture that got wet is ruined and will require extensive restoration. Their compensation guidelines for damage is a joke. Dealing with Earl was also very disappointing, very poor customer service skills and he had no clue about my delivery, though he pretended that he did. I am still not convinced that I didn't get overcharged. Delivery of my goods were 2 days later than I had requested even though they picked up 2 days earlier than requested. I guess that gave them time to soak my goods in water?
Next time use a company that is a member of the Canadian Association of Movers because these guys are not.

Move from bc to alberta.

If I could give no stars I most definitely would. These a**holes called me 1 1/2 hours before they were supposed to show up and load us for our move to Alberta. They were supposed to be here on Monday and informed me that they couldn’t come until Wednesday. Not acceptable. I had to find another mover to come on short notice and a $1500 price increase, to come instead, which was not an easy task. 2 Burly Men were not helpful at all. I said “can’t you rent another truck?” And he laughed at me. Not f** funny I said. Thank goodness I found a great company from Kamloops to come. DO NOT HIRE 2 Burly Men. What a rip off.

Do Not Hire This Company- They Are Awful.

Absolutely the worst service I have ever received.

Originally, the time was set for 9:00 AM, they call several days later for 9:30 AM (it was only 30 minutes - we didn't mention it) I had several times, advised we need to be moved out by 12:00 PM - I was advised by their head office that this is absolutely not an issue and the movers will be there at 9:30 AM.

9:30 AM comes around the movers aren't at our house, (which is fine, traffic was AWFUL), 10:00 AM comes around and my boyfriend decides to give their head office a call, we're advised that they are running late and will be there any minute. 11:30 AM comes around, we call their head office again and are told they rescheduled us for the afternoon, which is completely unacceptable and not what we were promised. We are given the personal number of the Manager Nigel, Nigel is condescending and said he left a voicemail on my phone last night saying that they had issues with their truck and it was in the shop. Nigel swears he left a voicemail - but I had checked my voicemail every 30 minutes because we knew they were coming. He did not offer a remedy, and basically said there was nothing we can do.

So I have to call my Dad is absolute tears (NOT TO MENTION SEPTEMBER 30TH IS MY BIRTHDAY) and he was forced to spend the entire day moving out things. The reason we hired movers was so we could celebrate my birthday with our friends who came out of town for my birthday, but instead it was spent in tears because of the broken promises of this company.

We will be reaching out for further compensation from the company as we were charged strata fees because we had to be out by 12:00 PM. We'd also like to mention that they would be moving about 6 pieces of furniture (we had already brought outside of their convenience) and 10 medium sized boxes.

Thanks for the disappointment.

Move to deliver Ikea furniture.

We hired 2 Burley Men to pick up an Ikea order and bring it to our office. The process for setting the move up was seamless (and I had to make a change). The guys were early well prepared, and they texted me several times with their whereabouts. They were polite, treated the boxes with care and prompt. Very easy to get along with and no problems whatsoever. I will use them for moving from now on. We had a terrible experience with another company so it was a relief that they were so good. Great experience!

An absolute disappointment.

My experience in dealing with 2 Burley Men has been awful. There was an utter lack of disrespect for my stuff from the moment they arrived to offload. No coverings were put down on my floor to protect my new carpet. The very first item was carried in and smashed a decent sized hole in my brand new wall. Another larger hole followed. To top it all off, they lost the key to my storage locker (after having promised it would be in good hands) and lied about having found it and mailed it in. I have repeatedly tried to follow up with them about recovering the deposit for the storage locker key – I keep getting promised a call back and yet no response. Please do not use this company. They have shown a complete disregard for their customer.

Long haul lowermainland to the north.

Office managed to fit my job in last minute. Arranged for a windows of 2 days but ended up the morning of the third due to ferry delays.
Dustin and Warren arrived and wrapped all furniture as they moved it into their truck and secured everything.

They stayed in contact with us the entire time from pending arrival to 15minutes away from arriving with delivery.

Polite and courteous they unloaded the truck, unwrapped everything and moved to where it went.

Overall fantastic experience, the invoice was quite reasonable and no damage to anything.

I would NEVER RECOMMEND them to anyone.

Last month I used this company to move from Victoria to Nanaimo and

I have reached out and given this company ample opportunity to right their wrong and all they offered was five dollars back for a hinge and I haven't even recieved that.

The workers did not conduct their job in a timely manner what so ever. The driver arrived reeking of weed, which is not a problem in your own time but definetly an issue well working and driving under the influence. It took over 10 hours to move a one bedroom apartment with minimal furniture and 37 boxes. I was quoted between $700-$900 for this move $900 being the maximum for a move my size, I inevitably ended up being charged $1176.25. When I questioned this I was threatened by the worker and was told that their office employees don't know anything about moving times so they can't quote accurate pricing. I was additionally advised by this same worker not to get any additional moving insurance as they would move my belongings with care, lesson learned on my behalf. They ended up breaking my nightstand, bbq and I have found numerous scratches on my furniture and new floors.

The property management of my new building was stunned by the length of time it was taking to move my belongings in and one manager asked that they please get everything in a more timely fashion as it was time to lock up the building for the night, the worker then snapped at him and was very rude. Which as a new tenant concerned me to have someone I've hired speak to my new landlord in such a manner. I would also like to point out my move started at 9:20 in the morning, it took 3 and half hours for the drive from Victoria to Nanaimo alone. I asked what took them so long as there were no accidents or traffic. They admitted they stopped for lunch yet still charged me for this time.

I hired this company hopeful that it would make the move less stressful as I was recovering from a broken leg, unfortunately it ended up adding more stress. This company and its employees are completely unprofessional.

I can't imagine how long it would take or how much they would charge to move an entire house.

Move from Kelowna to Alberta.

Our move from Kelowna back to Edmonton was an absolute nightmare. We were left high and dry with 1/4 of our household stuff and had to scramble to get a u-haul. The amount of damage to our items were extensive and boxes lost. The movers disassembled items, which were then damaged and we again were left picking up the pieces. The company would not take accountability or responsibility for the extensive damage and paid us $139.00 which included us paying a deductible of $50.00. We would NEVER use this company again.

Get everything in writing!

Get your quote in writting! No matter how nice Earl and Scott are over the phone, get it in an email. I was quoted $1425.00 plus $50 for approximately 1500 lbs, but it would be weighed at the scale and we would only pay for actual weight. When the truck arrived 2 days after scheduled date, the driver hands us a bill for $2362.50. When I mentioned my original quote and requested a copy of the weigh scale bill, I was told that they didn’t have a weigh scale and that there was a minimum of 2000 lbs. I contacted Scott immediately and he said there is a 2000 lb min and was very rude and told me I either pay the bill or they take my stuff and I hire another moving company to collect it and deliver it. WOW, WOW, WOW! I paid the bill as I felt I had no choice as I needed my stuff 2 days prior. The driver did show me a scale receipt dated March 11, for 1409 lbs and said that was how much our stuff weighed, but he would not provide me with a copy. I waited a few days and then called up Earl to talk about how they treated me and gave him the opportunity to make things right. His response was, “We feel that’s a fair price for the move.”

Scott and Earl, I think you need to reevaluate your customer service! This is not how you treat people! I hope this review can prevent somebody else from being bullied by this company! Based on other reviews, it is clear that this company is not the company you want for a long haul move!

I had to call this moving company because the first ones I called GOOD MEN. moving company did not show up I tried calling them and texting them ignore my calls and then they kept saying yes will come they DIDNOT come March 28. John said he promised to come in the next day which is March 29 at 7 AM once again no-show!! Then I found this company, starting with Scott and then moved onto Josh which in turn he brought Ryan to help him, they saved my weekend..They were on time they even wrapped all my belongings like it was a brand new baby, moved everything carefully. They were friendly, they worked very hard to get everything done and they Got everything moved out then in to my new place in a timely fashion. Then at night I happen to mention I was getting a couch delivered the next day which of course with Covid no one is delivering inside the house so they offered to come back the next day after their shift to Bring in my couch and put it together. Amazing two guys once again thank you so much Josh and Ryan. I Recommend this company to everyone.

If I could give no stars I would.

I hope this review will spare someone an AWFUL experience like we had with this company. They do not know how to treat customers, let alone how to treat people as human beings. I am simply gobsmacked that this company continues to exist with what we experienced. It was stressful and traumatic and incredibly difficult. We were even talking with the franchise owner who hung up on me as I was trying to explain what was going wrong with our move, and asked him to stop talking over me so I could finish my sentences. Cheryl (the Manager maybe?) was incredibly sarcastic and rude. I tried pleading with the mover who was physically in front of me, and he wouldn't even look me in the eye and talk to me like a human. What happened: the company did not send a big enough truck (Cheryl said it was our fault for having too many things and we should have known the truck wasn't big enough when it arrived, despite the mover walking through our house and telling us it was good), and left a fair amount of our things behind. They told us they would send them the next day on a long-haul. THREE days later, they then wanted to charge us for the "second move" ($1300+) to bring us our remaining things, and refused to unload them until we paid. Cheryl said she would sue us if we didn't pay. They lost some of our furniture and are now not answering our calls or returning our messages trying to find where it went (or even claim it under their "insurance"). I have never been treated so badly or had such an incredibly negative experience; I really couldn't have imagined this was possible. Please, please, PLEASE do not use this company. They just do not know what they are doing, or how to treat people. I guarantee there are better choices out there who will treat you with respect and decency.
