Long-distance move from North Charleston, SC to Waterford, NY

U-Pack

The equipment was delivered to both locations on time as advertised. There was very little movement of the contents which indicated that care was taken during transport. The drivers and customer representatives were very friendly, courteous and helpful. I would definitely recommend this service.

Tucson to Denver move

At a time when so many things feel like a scam, UPack was a breath of fresh air. Unlike other moving pod companies, they didn't require that I call and talk to an agent for 20 minutes, they didn't add in hidden fees, they let me book easily online, they let me keep the pod as long as I needed to, and they didn't even require that I have the final destination address when I booked (I hadn't yet decided which storage unit to send it to). They delivered the pod within a week and a half of picking it up, communicated about the timing of the pickup and delivery, and had great delivery and dispatch staff. Moving sucks but this company made it a much easier experience. I'd highly recommend them.

Long distance move - Pittsburgh PA to Minneapolis MN

WOW - where to start??!!!! I struggled to figure out my daughter's move and then found you. The entire UPack process from quote through unload was flawless! I was reassured that UPack is part of ABF and not a franchise model. Everyone we worked with online and in person was extraordinarily nice, helpful, and professional. The ReloCube's had tons of space and were easy to pack. The ABF tracking was better than our Apple AirTags! The ReloCubes arrived at the MN center ahead of schedule and the team there made it easy for our local movers to unload quickly. I highly recommend UPack for a move -- they're amazing! Thanks for making a stressful cross country move stress free.

They cancelled on me day of

Worst experience. They were unwilling to deliver to my house citing bogus traffic pattern issues. Literally should have been here today and they cancelled no notice and no alternatives. This company can’t be trusted to actually get your move done. Home Depot brings mega flat beds to this road weekly. They seem to not really want this side of their business and frankly someone should sue them for the inconveniences they are causing.

Long-distance move from Cocoa, FL to Angier, NC

Black soot

The move went well as far as drop off and pick up the estimated timelines were fairly accurate and we had plenty of time to pack and unpack the unit. However upon receiving our things many forms of furniture were damaged you can tell the drive and handling was very rough. Our trailer had a water leak in the corner which looked repaired many times but while we unloaded it was raining and the water was dripping on our things (luckily we used plastic totes). Also on all of our things was black soot on our furniture, on the boxes, on every item. It stained our furniture and got all over my brand new home and I can’t get it out of my carpets. Our neighbors used the same company in their move and we asked them if they had similar issues and they complained about the black spot as well.

Long-distance move from Burlington, VT to Weaverville, NC

Multi-state move from VT to NC

My partner and I made a multi-state move from Vermont to North Carolina. We were between U-Haul and U-Pack, and I'm so grateful we went with U-Pack. They were the most affordable option, and the process was a breeze. They also moved our pods way faster than we anticipated. They picked up our pods in the evening of 6/25 in VT and had them at our new home in NC the morning of 7/2. Everything was handled via the dashboard, which anticipated your next steps, and the two men we came in contact with were professional and efficient. I would recommend U-Pack to anyone and everyone who can do their own loading & unloading!

Long Distance Move from Vermont to Ohio

Everything went exactly as described. UPack customer service was excellent and ABF Freight right on schedule and willing to accommodate us. The extra fee to get a guaranteed drop-off date was well worth it. Even with that extra fee, we saved a considerable amount in making the move. Moreover, UPack allows for scheduling flexibility. After making my initial reservation, I had to change our move date three time. This made scheduling what was a difficult transition with many moving pieces so much easier.

Long-distance move from Menlo Park, CA to Aurora, IL

California to Chicago Move

I opted for UPack after getting quotes from PODS, iPackRat and Uhaul. I opted for the Relocube which was more than enough for my 1 BR apartment. I had top half of my container empty after fitting all my stuff. Container was dropped in Cali, picked in Cali, delivered in Chicago and then picked up in Chicago on time. All the drivers were really nice. They dropped container how I wanted them and where I wanted them to. On top of that move was smooth as all my stuff arrived undamaged. Nothing had moved an inch. It was an amazing experience. Thanks team.

From the first contact with Josh. This experience could not have been any better.Every stop along the journey was met with delight and professionalism. They delivered on every promise they made. It’s really nice to deal with professionals. They made a stressful situation not stressful.

Awesome Experience

Like many others, we were skeptical about using U-Pack. Well, fret no more! We just completed a move from Nevada to Texas. The move went seamlessly from drop off of our Relo Cube in Nevada to delivery in Texas. Customer Service was excellent in answering my questions and making some minor changes to the drop off date. The contracted companies called as stated they would with their one day notice of drop off and the one hour notice for delivery in Texas. U-Pack pricing simply cannot be beaten. The quote given is just that, no hidden fees or extra charges. We are totally impressed with this company. My daughter intends to use U-Pack for an upcoming move to Florida. We highly recommend them.

Our experience was very good. The drivers were very friendly and helpful. Our belongings arrived exactly how we packed them. The people in the office were very helpful and informative. Well worth the difference in price from hiring a mover to put the boxes on a truck for you.

I used Upack a few years ago to send things to Alaska. That move went well. For this move I got a few quotes and Upack was the best. And from my previous experience I felt confident the move would go well. Delivery of the Relo Cube to the shipping address was on schedule. Pick up, cross country shipping, and delivery to the receiving address went well. When unpacking the cube the items were in good condition. I will use Upack again.

Long-distance move from New York to Texas

Abf u-pack trailers for cross country moves.

ABF u-pack was a nice moving experience. My move was a small move from Long Island to Austin Texas and I have looked around for multiple possibities, either renting a truck and driving myself with the goods, hiring a full service moving company, geting a pod delivered, or hiring space on a van line. Because to drive with a truck towing my car would be a pain and cost a fortune just on gas, I decided to let go this option early. The choice between a full service moving company is always questionable as there are lots of crooks out there, so beware. The option of having a pod delivered always ended up being more costly than getting space on a van line or a freight company because it usually involves using the pod for an entire month for storage purposes, etc, and I really didn't need it. I was just needing a trailer at my old apartment complex for a certain period of time to be loaded, then delivered at my new apartment complext for a certain period of time to be unloaded, so ABF was a perfect choice. The trailer arrived on the setup date (tuesday), I hired local help on hireahelper.com to load it on the next morning (wednesday). Everything went smoothly, I had most of the things prepared already, so it was just a matter of wrapping up, padding and loading. Then I set the trailer to be picked up later on that day such that I could finish cleaning the apartment and loading myself the cleaning supplies (vaccuum cleaner, etc). Note that parking might be an issue, and I have checked with my apartment complex if it would be ok to have a big trailer parked there overnight- they said it was ok, but be aware that the trailer is quite big and because the truck head leaves, it cannot be on the street. The driver came, helped me out installing the bulkhead, and I said farewell to my stuff (wednesday evening). I kept minimal stuff with me to drive down there - I would be leaving on the next day (thursday) and note that I have a wife, a dog, and two cats to fit in a VW beetle. Particularly, an air mattress is an important thing because my stuff would only arrive a couple days after me, but it really depends on you and  how big is your car. So I took 4 days of driving to get there (arrived on sunday) - a nice drive through the middle of the country stopping to eat at super nice country restaurants. It was nice that I had everything arranged with my apartment complex because it was just a matter of checking in and bearing an unfurnished apartment for a couple of days. I started calling the local abf terminal to check in my stuff. It arrived on tuesday. the terminal here is a small one, so they are not as flexible as up there in Long Island with time windows, so I set up the delivery for the next day (wednesday), they said in between 8-5 but then arrived late in the morning. I had set up another local hireahelper crew to come and unload it and haul it to my new apartment and I asked them to come earlier as soon as the trailer arrived. they came and unloaded everything. the goods arrived in good condition: I have only a minor dent in a tv stand, a corner of the dinning table, and another small dent in a computer table - no big deal at all. Note that I was somewhat careful packing my things, several furniture pads for the furniture and couch, bubble wrap for fragile stuff, everything was kind of sealed with plastic wrap or inside boxes, then I had a plastic cover on top of everything and used my mattress to pad the back side against the bulkhead. The guys loading the trailer really did a good job - in my opinion it is important you get experienced professionals for this. After the trailer was empty (wednesday afternoon), I call the abf terminal to set up its pick up, they came on the next day (thursday) and because I was at work, I didn't see the driver. I left my car blocking the trailer head and then when I left, I left boxes on those parking spaces asking people to kindly not to park there.   overall, a great experience. a very competitive price just for the delivery, maybe one could get a cheaper quote, but at least I got good vibes from abf costumer service assuring me that everything would go as planned because of my tight schedule (particularly delivery and pick up times of the trailer). abf asked for roughly 1700, hireahelper was approx 400 total (slightly more expensive in long island, obviously, "this is new york" than in texas). if it was not such a pain, I would definitely do it again. good luck with your moves. feel free to contact me if you want. best wishes  .

First Move.

As a college student, this was my first move ever and I have to say it went better than I thought it would! ABF did a great job, from customer service to being on time for pick up and delivery. They were able to move my stuff accross the country in 4 business days. While there were other companies that offered similar services for less, I didn't want to wait 10-14 business days for my posseions when I moved with no furniture. They were nice enough to give me a student discount, which saved me $75. I would recommend ABF to anyone, just be sure to confirm everything once you have it set up! I ended up having to change my destination address with them after I had initially set up the move. I called U-Pack and let them know but they hadn't notified ABF of the change until I called and made sure everything was correct. It was a small error, that was easily fixed once communication was clear between all parties. My stuff arrived at the right address so really that's all that matters.  .

Long-distance move from Colorado to Oregon

Two trailers.

I had read some terrible reviews of all of the major van lines but did not want to drive a truck 1,500 miles on my own.  ABF seemed the best option.  Based on the Upack online estimator I came up with 17 linear feet for my 3 bedroom house.  I must have left out a lot because we quickly filled all 26 feet of trailer.  I called for a second one and it was delivered quickly.  I hired local movers to help load the trailers and we stacked right to the top on the first trailer.  The second wasn't packed as well and there was wasted space at top.  It's difficult to pack odd shaped items.  Standard moving boxes work better than liquor boxes because they are consistent sizes and shapes.  Anyway, ABF got both trailers to my destination on schedule and, despite some settling during shipment, there was very little damage.  The price I was charged was accurate and there were not last-minute "extras". I'd highly recommend Upack and ABF, but over-estimate your footage and get good crews for loading and unloading.

Long-distance move from California to Pennsylvania

U-Pack Move went great.

We moved my mother-in-law from her home in Lakewood, CA near Los Angeles to Pittsburgh.  We looked into a variety of options including traditional moving company to a container service (PODS and competitors), to do-it-ourselves one way truck rental.  U-Pack provided a 28' empty trailer.  They dropped it off in front of her house.  We packed it over a weekend, and they picked it up on Monday.  Then they dropped it off at the new apartment, we unloaded it and they picked it up when we were done.  You pay by the linear foot of trailer (8' wide, 9' high), with a 5' minimum.  This worked really well for us because fitting what she had into the containers we found was difficult or expensive.Setting up the move was easy.  Call the toll free number, supply the info (or use the website, which is what I did), and get a quote.  I called them to actually schedule things, which was also easy.In Lakewood, we had some hassle with getting the trailer delivered when they said they would, but with a couple of phone calls it got done on the day we wanted it.  Since they don't work on the weekend, we needed it delivered on a Friday, and they did.The trailer is delivered empty with a ramp (it's a real truck trailer with a 4' off the ground floor).  It's empty when they deliver it.  We hired experienced movers to help us load it, since packing a truck so stuff survives a few thousand mile trip isn't easy.  We got everything padded and strapped down.  One hint for anyone who does this is that U-Haul rents furniture pads one way, which is just what we needed.  U-Pack provides an 8' high wall, basically two sheets of plywood with some pipes to hold the sheets together and hook into the slots that run down the sides of the trailer.  This demises your stuff from anything else that goes in the trailer later.  They warn you that it's not designed to hold your stuff in place. U-Pack is a division of ABF trucking.  They haul the trailer to their terminal, load commercial freight in and send it to a terminal near you.  The wall protects your stuff from that freight.  It normally takes 4-5 days, not including the weekends to ship across the country.  It worked best for us to have the trailer delivered the following Wednesday, even though we could have had it as early as Monday. We needed the trailer delivered and picked up on the same day.  The facility she lives in would not let us leave it overnight.  The Pittsburgh terminal was able to accommodate that on our preferred day.  They delivered it as promised, and picked it up as promised. When we opened the trailer, it looked exactly as we had left it in Lakewood.  We took down the wall, unloaded the trailer and called the terminal to tell them it was ready to be picked up.This worked out great for us.  It was cost effective, pretty painless, and gave us the most flexibility.

Long-distance move from Pennsylvania to Indiana

ABF moving company.

The trucks were on time. The people worked with me to determine the amount of a space needed.  The quote was the same at the end and the beginning. My issue was with the movingstaffers who contract with them.  Was told one charge and then charged quite a different amount 3 days before.  The packers came on time but took several breaks. The first 28 ft truck I had people there & it was packed well to the top and no damage.  Second truck the packers wanted to do themselves. Great damage.  Major gouges in the furniture. I was told one charge for blankets.  After the trucks were loaded charged another and wanted cash or check. The unpackers did not show up for two hours.  Got charged for them even though I dinight use them.  Moving staffers rude called me a liar.  I went to the visa company got the overcharges back in addition to some of the unpackers charges. Would use ABF but they should contract with another group or not recommend any movers at all.  .

Amazing and Easy Move.

Even though we dreaded having to pack up an apartment and ship the contents across the country, U-Pack made that part easy. We were so surprised to get the cube in a week. Everything came in tack, just as we packed it. There were no hidden costs and the container came to our home. The container was then picked up soon after we called for pick up. Excellent Service for Moving Yourself.

The driverof our truck that delivered our stuff to our new location was incredible. He had useful tips and was extremely helpful. he made our move so mch easier, nicer and better. Packing and loading your own belongings is the most affordable and best way to go if you can do it. It is pain-free, smooth and since you packed your own items, you have total control so there are no issues with worrying about other people handling your own stuff. These guys are easy to work with, professional and affordable. I will always recommend them and use them for all  my future moves.

Upack.

What a great experience I had moving with Upack!  As a single mother moving from NC to KY, I was totally stressed out, but upack and its excellent team members made it the easiest and most affordable move I have ever made.  All of the people--from the reservations staff to the office people to the drivers--were knowedgable, pleasant, and honest.  Also the price was exactly what was quoted to me, no add-ons or hidden fees or taxes.  Much more affordable and less stressful than renting a moving truck and driving it myself or having someone drive it for me.  The cube delivery and pick up times were as scheduled and very prompt.  I moved my belongings into storage so the facility required that the cubes be picked up by the end of the business day.  This was no problem for Upack--they came and picked up the cubes within 20 minutes of my call!  My furniture and belongings arrived in the same shape I loaded them in and it literally looked like nothing had shifted at all.  I tied off my furniture and boxes using the tie-offs inside the cubes, which really stabilized everything.  LOL at the last minute, I'd thrown a wicker laundry basket in on top of everything and when I opened the cube 500 miles later, the basket was in the same spot as when I threw it in on top.  Highly recommend this company and many thanks to all of the Upack team membrs who helped me.

Long-distance move from Minnesota to Connecticut

Nobody is responsible.

Delivery of the trailer was on time. The loading of the trailer the next day was less than ideal. Loading and unloading was done by Moving Staffers, who were contracted by UPack. Loading took 9 1/2 hours to load a 28 ft trailer and was done very poorly. The load was loosely packed and shifted during transit causing damage to nearly everything in the trailer. I packed the boxes using bubble wrap and cloth padding, and the furniture was wrapped with blankets and shrink wrap and they still managed to cause a lot of damage. The unloading crew could not believe the condition of the load, showing us pictures that they take of their loading jobs for coverage in case of problems. The difference was stunning. Our load looked like it something out of a bad comedy. The unloading crew did a very good job handling a load that kept trying to shift on them. I called customer service about a claim. I was told by Janey that nothing is covered during transit. I made a comment about Moving Staffers being the ones who did the loading. She told me that a damage claim must be made before the crew leaves the site. In other words, you have to know ahead of time that they've done a poor job and put in a claim before they're finished. I would not recommend this company to anyone.

An Absolute Nightmare.

They did not supply the same type moving trailer depicted in their video. It was dirty and didn't have any place to tie ropes (as their video instructed). The "bulkhead" wall was just a broken, splintered piece of particle board with no way of securing it. Their trailer became damaged at some point and had 2 big holes in the roof. By the time our belongings had been stored in it for a month, we had thousands in damages (ruined, molding items). They agreed to pay only $160 for all of our ruined, expensive stuff. It's been almost a month now and we still haven't gotten their crappy little check. What a nightmare! They're rude, unprofessional and they take no responsibility for their negligence. I wouldn't trust them to move garbage! If you value your belongings at all, don't even consider this company, they're very shady.

ABF UPack.

Entire process went smoothly. Was shown courtesy by office staff during telephone inquiries and moving arrangements, to driver deliveries of containers and hired unloaders(Moving Staffers). Billing was exactly as promised. Paid less then half of what a full service moving company charged, and was even slightlly less than what truck rental would have cost. This is the way to go if you don't mind the physical labor of packing the containers.
