Long-distance move from Texas to Tennessee

First Move Alone.

When I had to move from Texas to Tennessee unexpectedly, I was extremely nervous and stressed. I have moved often, but never without my family around to help me. U-Pack not only provided me the most affordable price (even compared to renting a truck and driving it myself- something I did NOT want to do), but they also were the most friendly and service focused company I have worked with in a long time. The initial call inquiring about door to terminal transit was helpful and never "sales-y". Every status update call was friendly. The man who delivered my trailer went way above and beyond to make sure I was good to go. I am a small woman and could not get the divider door up on my own (needed it still open after my friends had left). My driver happily installed the divider for me. I cannot brag on the driver enough!! He is amazing. I only wish I could remember his name. Then the people at the terminal location I picked my stuff up from were helpful and friendly as well. The people working for U-Pack set the company apart from all others. I have even used UBox in the past and their costumer service is the reason I shopped elsewhere this round. Pack will be my company of choose from here on out. And I move often as a college coach.

Service cost: $918

Official company response

Wow, thank you so much, Christine!

I'm happy to hear that you had such a great U-Pack experience!! If you'd like me to follow up and pass along your feedback to the driver that helped you, email your reference number to customercare@upack.com and I will look it up.

Thanks again and all the best!

Long-distance move from Georgia to Massachusetts

Customer Service A+.

I highly recommend U Pack - and their services were just what we needed for a cross-country move without a final destination address. They delivered the container on-time, gave 3 days to pack it, sent a reminder about scheduling a pick up, and then stored our container for a month while we looked for an apartment.

The only snag we ran into was that we had estimated a final delivery zip code until we found an apartment. Because they work with ABF which is a gigantic trucking and logistics company, the container had to go from storage in the western suburbs of Boston ALL THE WAY TO NEW JERSEY to get delivered to our Cambridge address. We discovered this the day before we had arranged child care, and friends and family to help us move. The customer service folks went above and beyond to make that delivery happen for us on time. The truck driver who delivered the container was even able to maneuver the forklift around a car illegally parked in our reserved space. I can't thank U Pack and ABF people enough for making this move successful. We wouldn't go with anyone else for future moves.

Service cost: $1300

Official company response

Thank you so much for the positive review and I'm glad our services worked well for your move. It sounds like there were some obstacles, but I'm glad everything worked out in the end. We wish you and your family the best of luck in MA!

Thanks again!

Long-distance move from Pennsylvania to California

Nice to find an honest company to work with!

After hearing horror stories about moving companies, It was a huge relief to work with UPACK ABF. They were so helpful with details. When we needed to change delivery/ loading info, it was no problem at all. Loading site personnel even left their outside lights on for us to finish loading. Call received when arrived at Oakland ABF, and when I decided to have delivered to house, again, it was no problem and a nominal amount. Delivery driver was great too, Super courteous, accommodating on drop off site etc. I opened container and everything looks exactly as it was when we put our lock on door. I have to say that this was by far the easiest move we have ever made. It absolutely has to do with the people that work for this company. The genuinely want to help and offer a superior customer service experience. It is so nice to find such a wonderful company to help with quite frankly one of the worst tasks on the planet..moving! Oh, and the price was several hundred dollars less than other container moving companies quotes.

Service cost: $1800

Official company response

Thank you for the feedback, J! "One of the worst tasks on the planet"- loved that part, because it is so true. We know moving is stressful, and try to make it as simple as possible. We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. Your business means a lot to us and we wish you well.

Long-distance move from Missouri to Maryland

Best Value By Far.

I've moved with U-Pack twice, both times terminal-to-terminal over 1,000 miles. Even when I needed to hire local movers to help load and off-load the trailers, these moves cost me 20%-30% less than what full-service movers wanted to charge. Just as importantly: U-Pack will get your stuff to your destination quicker and with less damage than most full-service movers because they won't be shifting your belonging from trailer to trailer throughout the move.

The drivers and terminal staff have always been friendly and responsive. The pricing is very straightforward. Overall, U-Pack has made a stressful and expensive process of moving a little more tolerable.

Dear Anthony,

We love the feedback, and we especially love repeat customers. Best wishes to you and yours!

Long-distance move from Tennessee to Florida

Great service and a great experience.

U Pack turned the nightmare of moving into a breeze. The customer service department was excellent in answering any and all questions and explaining the process. The cubes arrived on time delivered by the most friendly and accommodating driver.
We had the cubes packed by a moving company. The cubes were picked up by the same driver who took great care in loading them on the flat bed. They arrived at our destination and were delivered by yet another friendly and accommodating driver who also took great care in unloading them from the truck. We had movers, pre arranged by U Pack to unload. I was amazed when the doors were opened that the contents looked the same as they did when they were packed. Nothing had shifted. Everything came in perfect shape. We could not be more pleased by the entire process. I would highly recommend U Pack to anyone and would certainly use them again if the need arises.

Al,
Thank you so much for the stellar review!! I'm happy that your move went well and we met your expectations. I hope you are getting settled in the Sunshine State.

Long-distance move from Connecticut to Iowa

Great move.

Your staff explained everything so well were pleasant and very helpful. What I was told is exactly how it happened.

I had about given up moving things from my mother's house after she was placed in a nursing home this fall. Your prices were reasonable and being able to have the flexibility to use extra space in the trailer was a real plus.

Not having the stress of driving two vehicles back to Iowa, along with gas and tolls made it possible to bring some treasured memories to Iowa to live with me.

Thank you.

Dear Patricia,

It was so kind of you to take time to post a review. Thank you for using our service! We're happy to hear you had a good experience, and that you now have your mother's treasures. We wish you and your mom all the best.

Long-distance move from Washington to California

Great Service, Price, & People.

I was pleasantly surprised by U-Pack's great service. I was able to reach customer service any time to adjust my move date and even having to add another cube was very easy. I was nervous when I began my research into moving companies, Pods, moving trucks but I am very happy that I contacted U-Pack. To find that U-Pack could move all my stuff at such an affordable price, took a lot of stress off of me and my family.

The Service Center in Seattle worked with my schedule well. Great customer service. The person that dropped off and picked up my cubes was awesome! He made sure the cubes were in the perfect spot and even talked to apartment management since I wasn't home to explain situation.

The Service Center in San Diego also had great customer service. They worked with my schedule to make sure we ready to get the cubes delivered and picked up. The person who dropped off the cubes did excellent job in placing the cubes in driveway so they can be easily accessed. He also had great personality and made sure everything was perfect.

Thank you!!

Long-distance move from Connecticut to Arizona

Upack Moving Company.

We used U-Pack Moving for our very recent move from Connecticut to Arizona and it was EXCELLENT!! Exactly what they advertised, what we expected and were looking for! We had already packed all our belongings and put them in a storage unit, so we then moved everything in the storage unit into the trailer they delivered to the storage facility. It's important that all boxes are packed well, and extremely important that everything packed into the trailer is packed tightly (to prevent shifting during transit) and restrained with ropes and ratchet straps. We packed everything carefully and had excellent results!

U-pack provided excellent communication at all times via emails, text messages and phone calls on both ends. The trailer arrived when expected in Connecticut and in Arizona, as well. Took about 10 days to get to Arizona, which was exactly what they estimated. It was a very cost effective move for us and actually cost less than estimated because we packed everything so tightly that we used much less trailer space than expected!

I would highly recommend them to anyone willing to do the packing, careful loading, and unloading themselves. We had a terrific experience with U-Pack moving!!

Service cost: $3600

Dear Carol,

Thank you so much for taking the time to post a review. We really appreciate you using our service and are happy that everything went well. Happy New Year!

Long-distance move from Illinois to Florida

You Can Trust UPack!

I highly recommend using UPack! I did a lot of online research and UPack not only had the best rates but is a company you can trust with your move. From the quoting process, confirming the reservation, scheduling the drop off of the cubes, the driver showing up on time for the drop off and the pick up later in the week, anyone we called with questions had a good attitude and was very knowledgeable and pleasant. The contact with the driver delivering our cubes to our new location was great and most importantly, everything arrived safely and in perfect condition. We moved from Illinois to Florida and from doorstep to doorstep it took 9 days. Should we ever move again, UPack will be getting our business.

Service cost: $2900

Thanks so much for sharing your experience, Diane. We really appreciate your business and are happy to hear everything went well. All the best to you!

International move from , IL to , ON

UPACK rocks!

Just moved from Chicago, IL to Toronto, ON last week.

As one can imagine, moving furniture and other household goods across the border to a different country was the most stressful part of the move.. until I found UPACK!

Loved the pay-for-what-you-use feature of the service. Also, all the service professionals who I spoke to over phone very extra courteous and helpful throughout the process - of arranging delivery, pickup, custom forms etc.

Oh, did I mention, the prices offered by UPACK are THE best you will find anywhere.

All in all, would absolutely use this service again, the next time I move, and highly recommend them!

Very poor customer service!! They are like lying Ted Cruz!

We don't even know where to begin with these people. So much happened with them that we could go on and on. They are VERY UNPROFESSIONAL and have absolutely no customer service skills! Everything with these people is good until you are loaded in the trailer and ready to go. It's downhill from there. They will treat you poorly, lie, and even throw some smart #$% comments in there. We were so disappointed in these people and will NEVER use them again. I HIGHLY recommend finding another company. Even though ABF will cost less due to packing it yourself, it is so NOT WORTH IT!! This company will only add headaches and stress. RUN from this company!

We are so very sorry you had a disappointing experience. Please email details and your reference number to customercare@upack.com and we'll look into it for you.

Long-distance move from Wisconsin to Tennessee

U Pack.

My wife and I recently moved from Madison, Wisconsin to Nashville, Tennessee. We hadn't moved in over 30 years so you can imagine the amount of things we had accumulated over than time.

We checked pricing of professional moving companies, U Pack, and the u-drive truck rental companies. ABF U Pack was the best value out there for our circumstances. We were ablate pack, load and unload the trailer by ourselves but didn't relish the thought of driving a large vehicle full of furniture and belongings long distance.

Everyone we had contact with at ABF U Pack was knowledgeable, friendly, helpful and courteous. This includes the drivers at origin and destination service centers.

I would use U Pack again and would highly recommend them to anyone contemplating a move, be it short or long distance. The only way I could have made my move better would have been to use U Pack people to help load and unload the trailer.

International move from , BC to , CA

Blown away by excellent service!

My husband and I were planning a move from Vancouver, BC to Irvine, CA. Not only were we moving 3 states away but it was also international. Neither of us had ever done such a big move so we were fairly newbees at this. We scoured the internet for reviews and suggestions. We got numerous quotes from other companies. But it seemed like every company we looked at it was going to be a nightmare. The reviews for the more well known companies were horrible, like they just didn't care at all. And the pricing for the other big names of cubes were crazy high. And we were originally looking for pick up from my parents house in Washington state, as the price jump for taking our stuff over the border was unreasonably high. So we were planning to make smaller trips to my parents place, so we could then move everything from there and save about $1000. I came across reviews on this website actually for UPack and was surprised by the generally good reviews. We got a quote online and it was very reasonable. Then I read a specific review of someone who had moved from Vancouver to San Francisco and decided to just see how much it would be more for it to leave straight from our apartment. It was less than $100 more!! And was about half of what a big name cube mover quoted us to move from Washington!! We couldn't believe it! Everywhere else was charging so much more just to cross the border. I called UPack the next day and got an exact quote and reserved it on the spot. They sent me very helpful emails, always notifying me of dates for important paperwork. The ABF branch in Surrey, BC that we worked with was extremely helpful and friendly. Pat at the office was super helpful in answering all of my millions of questions. The driver who dropped of the cube was extremely friendly and helpful. We didn't have to be there for it to be picked up which was nice. Then the cube actually beat us to Irvine. The cube was picked up on Friday January 23rd, and I got a call it had arrived on Thursday January 28th! We were worried we would have to wait but it was the lowest quoted time! The driver who dropped of the cube was very friendly and patient as we were still signing some moving documents when he arrived. We only noticed one item damaged, a tile on a little table we had but that was more our fault as we didn't really care if it got damaged so we didn't put anything on top of it to cushion. We paid exactly what was quoted too. I would definitely recommend UPack for any daunting move or even easy move. They are a class act in an area where I think a lot of companies don't care as they are well known. Probably some of the best service from any company I have ever received.

Service cost: $1100

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave such a well-written review, Rachelle. We're grateful you chose us, and are happy to hear you were pleased with the service. I hope you and your husband are loving Irvine.

Long-distance move from Connecticut to South Carolina

My move from CT to SC.

I rarely give ANY survey a 10 rating (being the BEST) but I have to say that I do give U-Pack a positive 10 for a super job well done. Each and every call I made or with in person contact with the drivers, they were all second to none. From the first representative that I spoke to the drivers that delivered to my home and destination the pods were very professional and attentive to my concerns. I would NEVER have a problem recommending U-Pack to family, friends and even strangers. One person that really shined above all was Vanessa, she was better than a 10. She was an outstanding representative of your company, very professional, sincere in recognizing my concerns and very pleasant to talk to. PLEASE recognize Vanessa and all those individuals I have come into contact with. Vanessa as well as the others are what makes a company successful and it was my pleasure and great experience to utilize the services of U-Pack. It is because of them that I say "THANKS" to all for a wonderful experience. To the staff and management at U-Pack I give a solid 10.

Wow, Larry!! Thank you so much!

I am so happy your u-Pack move went so well.

U-Pack JUST implemented a recognition program for the people at the terminals that make it happen every day and I've already sent in Vanessa's name based on your comments.

Thanks for the review and taking the time to mention the great service by Vanessa.

Amazing customer service.

I have nothing but good things to say about abf upack. If you don't mind packing and loading your things (in which case you control safety of your items) this is the way to go. Their customer service underpromised and overdelivered. They originally stated my belongings would be dropped off on a Friday and then CALLED ME back to ask if it would be ok to drop it off a day earlier. Everyone, including drivers, was so polite, something you don't see much of these days. And most important not a single thing of mine was broken. Everything went as planned and I could not have been happier.

Great Service Great Price.

Wow - I have to echo everyone's comments - ABF UPack provided very professional, easy and affordable service.  I HATE moving and have done it many many times. I've used everything from full out moving services that pack for you to friends with trucks.  This was by far the easiest, most drama-free and reasonable professional service I have encountered.  I kept waiting for something to go wrong, but it didn't.  The details of my move changed many times before it actually happened, but each time I called, the customer service reps I spoke to were courteous and responsive.  I thought, compared to other moving services, their costs are quite reasonable.
I was moving the contents of storage units from one state to another and ended up taking and picking up my stuff at ABF terminals.  If there was one negative, it would be that for some reason (liability, perhaps) the storage unit facilities I dealt with in each locataion do not allow these pods to sit on their property.  Also, I checked in one city, and there is a rule against leaving them on the street at the curb.  So, check before you make your plans. This system works best if you have a driveway large enough to park one on your property while you pack it.
Still, I would definitely use ABF again. .

Service cost: $508

Official company response

Moaks, I'm so glad to hear you had a great experience. Thanks for pointing out that there are sometimes parking restrictions with storage units--definitely something to check on prior to a move! Informative details like that is what helps prepare others when they check out moving company reviews. Thank you for moving with U-Pack, we appreciate your business!

ABF U-Pack Moving Service.

Well, my Mom's stuff is in transit and in Chicago, Illinois as it makes it's way out to Portland, Oregon. I was VERY PLEASED with the ABF U-Pack Moving service that we had in packing my Mom's stuff. The trailer was clean, the ramp was sturd..y and pretty safe, the divider walls that you put in were pretty easy over-all, and my Mom's stuff (with the exception of a couple of things) was able to fit in a ten feet wide by five feet long space. Aside from the great help I had from family and friends to load the truck, the thing that impressed me the most about the experience of using the company and it's service was the professionalism of the driver. His name was Doug O'Connor and he had been doing his job for 20 years (you could tell by the way he smoothly maneuvered that massive rig to parallel park next to my Mom' house). He was friendly, put the ramp down for us, and made arrangements with his supervisors to be able to come back after a few hours so that we wouldn't have to leave the trailer sitting there for a few days (they usually leave them 3 days and then pick them up). What was even cooler is that when he picked up the trailer, he was willing to wait for me as I proceeded to go to Lowe's twice to get a proper lock that would fight the hole of the divider wall. After my second failed attempt, he even drove the truck with me to Lowe's and waited in the parking lot and nicely explained that this happens often. He was a pretty cool guy. The people I worked with on the phone were also nice to talk to and the DVD video about the U-Pack service was excellent! It will be interesting to see how my Mom's stuff is when it gets to it's destination, but if there is any damage to anything, it will be due to our error in packing the trailer, which thanks in large part to Allan Smith and my Brother, we packed the thing pretty high and tight. If you are needing a service and are moving across country or a few states a way, I think this is a great service and cheaper ($2,400) than driving a U-Haul yourself, which is what my Mom and Brother originally were thinking of doing (from New York to Oregon would have cost around $6,000 or so with gas, u-haul, food and lodging, etc.). Two Thumbs UP! http://www.abfs.com/default.aspSee More.

Damages Items and Wrongly Bills.

I would highly advise against using this company for moving if you value accuracy in the amount you are billed or if you value your items not being destroyed in the process of moving at no fault of your own. It is no joke that my family was in tears when we opened the trailer and saw many of the items we owned destroyed. I had multiple problems with Upack. First, I was charged for the wrong amount for my trailer usage. This cost was significantly more than was justified given the space I used (an extra $792). Luckily, I caught this huge error, but I was out of money on my credit card until they reversed this extra charge. Customer service was helpful in resolving this and I was refunded this extra amount, however I should not have to spend part of my time moving attempting to resolve billing discrepancies with U-pack. Second, my items were significantly damaged during the move solely due to the negligence of U-pack. Strangely, a large metal bar that I did not own ended up behind the bulkhead and on top of my furniture. According to one ABF employee, this was from another shipment in the same trailer. This metal bar resulted in a $500 desk being totally destroyed and many other items becoming severely damaged. Again, customer service was helpful and I received an insurance compensation that was only 0.10 per pound (I received less than $30 for a $500 desk). Of course, this was not sufficient to cover my items cost. It was very distressful to have items you just paid to shipped totally destroyed due to U-pack's incompetence with no fault of my own.Overall, I spent over $3038 to move my items across the country and was left with pieces of furniture and hours on the phone trying to fix things with U-pack.

Long-distance move from New Jersey to Indiana

It never arrived!

Booked my Relocube months in advance. even received a letter confirming that the delivery was to occur on Friday 4-8pm as I have requested. Working 12 hour shifts monday to saturday. I only have sunday to move my stuff into the cube. Whent Friday came, the ReloCube has not arrived and I had to call their service center to find out that the ReloCube was not arriving! Their ONLY driver was apparently injured. Its a valid reason assuming its true, but I would have appreciated them calling me and telling me that it was not arriving as opposed to allowing to wait for nothing. There was no appology from their staff. The only appology I got was when I cancelled my order. I had to spend more money as now I needed to move ASAP. I would not recommend this company to my worse enemy.

Terrible.

I really regret doing business with ABF. They pushed back our delivery 3 times, while they promised ontime delivery. Therefore, I had to reschedule my movers and pay fine for that. It was the last week of June, which is the busiest time for moving and all of movers are completely booked. Then their truck broke. Huge attitude problme whenever I called.  Please, Please pay a little bit more and DO NOT hire them. .

Amir,
I'm very sorry to hear about any problems with your move. This isn't the experience we wanted to leave you with! While delivery windows are estimates, we do offer a guaranteed time frame for customers on a tight schedule or have moving help lined up. If you opted for this, I can certainly get that corrected.
I also apologize for any equipment issues and would like to investigate your situation further. Would you please send over your move information so I can look into this for you? I'll also have our Quality team review your move for future improvements as well. I appreciate the opportunity to address your experience and look forward to hearing from you. Thank you, Autumnn M.

Long-distance move from Virginia to Pennsylvania

Wonderful Service All-around.

We had previously used PODS to move from OH to VA in 2013.  When we learned we would be relocating to the Williamsport, PA area in June of 2014, we again sought out PODS but learned that PODS did not service our new area.  The PODS representative, however, recommended that I try calling their competitor, U-PACK.  My husband and I had been completely satifsfied with PODS so we were both a bit let down to hear that news and leery of trying a new company, U-PACK.  We need not have been!  Our experience from start to end with U-PACK could not have been more pleasant or efficient and the cost was cheaper.  We had used one PODS unit (2100 sq ft house) in which we had to utilize every bit of space from top to bottom.  This time, we opted to utilize a full ABF 28' trailer (rather than several relo cubes) and by doing so, did not have to load "high" which we believe helped to prevent items from shifting and being damaged.  (Of Note:  you can reserve to use less of an AB trailer but should you want or need to utilize more space during the loading process, the cost per feet to do so is very reasonable.)  Naturally, one must be careful in properly tying down items with ropes and bungee cords and we have learned to keep and use old blankets, comforters, and mattress pads to protect furniture during our moves.  Each U-Pack customer service representative we came into contact with was exceedingly courteous, knowledgeable and helpful to include the ABF trailer drivers themselves. Our trailers were delivered and picked up on time.  In fact, our trailer was picked up in the Williamsburg, VA area on a Thursday and was already in PA on Friday (we actually think we passed it en route)!  Since U-PACK does not deliver over the weekend, we did have to wait until Monday morning for the truck to be delivered to our new location but it gave us enough time to clean and prepare the new home for our househould belongings.  I would highly recommend using U-PACK and we will utilize them over PODS whenever given the chance for our next major move (and we know there will be one again within the next few years).   I would also recommend taking the time to read all of the literature U-PACK sends regarding packing either the relo cubes and/or the ABF trailer as well as suggesting one reviews how to uninstall and install the bulk heads and loading ramps if using the trailer (videos all easily located on YouTube).  Happy Moving!

Hi Kimberly,
Thank you for moving with us! I'm so glad to hear you had a great move. You make excellent points about the importance of tying your items down and using blankets to pad/protect your furniture. Thanks again for choosing U-Pack. Best wishes in Pennsylvania!

Broken furniture.

ABF service was ok the truck was on time but my contents were very damaged.  They put heavy items on my marble dresser top and broke it in half, boxes clearly marked fragile were smashed and contents all broken.  Many items cannot be replaced or fixed. Although I don't necessarly blame ABF for this I blame moving staffers.  So if you do use ABF DO NOT USE MOVING STAFFERS.  they are not PROFESSIONAL loaders. they advertise that they are trained professional loaders but believe me they are a staffing company with day labors. Also when I called to let them know of the damage they blamed it on transit. In other words ABF RECOMMENDS THEM AND THEY DO HORRIBLE WORK AND THEN BLAME IT ON ABF.  ABF 'S trucks are very big so if you don't think you can load it yourself then either hire day labors yourself (like Home Depot) or go with a pod of some sort so you can take your time and load it yourself. kristine c.

Long-distance move from Georgia to Illinois

Unfullfilled Promises!!

I had booked U-Pack to move from Ga to Il. After speaking with several salespeople, I was assured that we were set and scheduled. It was explained to us that the trailer would be delivered to our location 3 days prior to the actual move, and if we wanted a sooner pick up to simply call them. And, after the trailer was delivered to the designated location, it could be unpacked and moved by them again. NEVER once did they indicate that when the trailer was taken to the secondary move site, it had to remain on site for a MINIMUM of 24 hours before removal. Obvilously, most storage locations do NOT want a trailer taking up space and we had to call over 50 loactions to find one that would allow this to happen. It was a neighboring town beside the U-Pack distribution center and about 1 mile from the original storage location. When I called back I spoke with Jory, explained our difficulty with finding a storage center that was willing to work with us and updated the address. We were almost complete and at the last minute he says, "Oh, I think we have a problem. We do not deliver to the town that you indicated your storage unit was at." Needless to say, I was shocked, frustrated, and he offered NO solutions other than to hold it at their distribution center and hire another mover to take it to the storage facility that was less than 5 miles away! He would not tell me why they could not deliver to the neighboring town, and offered NO solutions! What a waste of a whole day calling to find a facility that would allow their 28 ft trailer to stay overnight and then he had the nerve to tell me we were not in their area?? DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! It is not worth the hassles of using their sister company for the labor of moving and the runaround with the poor communication. You are better off renting a uhaul or doing what we did and using a real moving company like Bekins!

Long-distance move from Colorado to Wisconsin

Beware: Robbed And 75% Damaged Furniture.

IF I COULD GIVE A LOWER RATING THAN POOR, I CERTAINLY WOULD!  We have moved several times by professional movers and this was by far the WORST. ONE OF THE ABF PACKERS STOLE OUR CREDIT CARDS AND RAN UP OVER 2K IN TWO DAYS. We were overcharged for the second trailer because it was packed out instead of up (they charge by linear feet).  This added approximately another $3K (over the original estimate) to our final bill. There was an individual named Meredith (arrogant, condescending, and rude) with ABF U-Pack/Movebuilders at the Arkansas Headquarters who would not listen to us about the unacceptable packing of the second trailer, but also the people who unloaded the trailer. Even the drivers said it was estimated and packed incorrectly.  Our furniture was damaged because the trailers were loaded incorrectly and were was tied up with twine instead of bulk-heads to secure the stability of the load. A lamp shade to a very expensive Stiffel lamp was stuffed into a box and totally destroyed. This was packed by ABF U-Pack. An Elk statute of substantial size and value was a 25th wedding anniversary gift (again packed by U-Pack) was unrepairably damaged along with other family heirlooms.  The list goes on and on. A conservative estimate was 75% of our household goods were dented, scratched, or broken. When our belongings arrived in Wisconsin, the individuals unloading our belongings started to point out the damages to our furniture, etc., acknowledging the poor packing and the shifting of the load. We contacted Meredith with ABF U-Pack about all of the damages and she in turn contacted the supervisor of the unloaders and told him to relay to the individuals doing the unloading to STOP POINTING OUT DAMAGES TO US. We finally settled our damage claims with U-Pack/Movebuilders. They sent "Furniture Dr." to repair the scratches, chips and dents in the furniture. You can definitely still see where he did the unacceptable repairs. Another debacle was dealing with the claims. The claims adjuster could not even add the claim numbers correctly, and entirely missed claims which were reported. He was non-responsive to our e-mails. We had to e-mail three times before he would respond. Also, we had to repeatedly contact him for corrections for the errors he had made. A word to the wise, BEWARE OF ABF-U Pack/Movebuilders or whoever they are! Make sure you have background checks on the packers/unpackers whomever you select to move your personal possessions.  .

Long-distance move from Alabama to Virginia

Horrible Experience with U-Pack.

I highly recommend never using this company!!  They lie by ommission.  I would never have contracted with this company if they had disclosed their business practices up front, which is no doubt why they omit to disclose.  For absolutely no reason they forward-date the pickup date by one day.  They do not disclose up front that they do not count buisness days on their estimated 3-5 day delivery.  They do not disclose up front that they will travel from your pick up site to a hub where they load commerical products into the remainder of your trailer and wait there as long as they want before delivering the commercial products and then getting to your delivery site. They do not disclose up front that there are extremely heavy bulkhead doors that cannot be closed or opened by one person. The result for me was an 11 day delivery that was supposed to be 3-5 and they offered a $50 refund!! And, they charged me for the entire delivery before I got it.
And, they care absolutely nothing about the customer who has had delays in delivery. There have no customer loyalty, no interest in acting professionally about their poor performance and poor communications.  In my opinion they are a fraudulent company, only a fraud would hold back all that information until the customer is committed.

Official company response

Hi Michelle,
I hate to hear about your moving experience; this is certainly not the impression we want to leave you with. I wanted to clarify a few details that may clear up any misunderstanding regarding transit times. The estimated transit time (3-5 business days in your case) does count business days only as listed on the Bill of Lading. Transit times are covered in your move documents as well as on our website at upack.com. For customers on a tight schedule, we offer Guaranteed and Expedited transit options if needed. Please know that customer satisfaction is very important to us, and I would like to look into your situation more and also forward it to our Quality team for further review. Would you please send your move info to me at social@upack.com? Thank you, Autumnn M.
