Long-distance move from Albuquerque, NM to Tulsa, OK

Terrible Movers!!

UPack is a very dishonest and highly unprofessional moving company
Their driver ran off the highway which caused my entire 26 foot load to fly from the front of the trailer to the very back wall
The majority of my antiques and other belongings were trashed, broken, dented and scratched
UPack assured me my possessions were “insured” as part of their fee should any damage occur
But once the damage happened they flatly refused to pay for their carnage
Do NOT hire these crooks to move anything or you will surely regret it! ??

Long-distance move from Raynham, MA to Temple, TX

Beware!

I paid $4300 to move 21 ft of trailer from Massachusetts to Texas. BEWARE! They tried charging an extra foot too. Walls only allow even ft settings. They take no responsibility for anything. They piggybacked our trailer at a 15 deg angle and our professionally loaded (moving staffers) load shifted over 2000 miles. Ruined our couch. Then they say it is not covered and even if it was, its $0.10/ pound. So unless you have it crated, forget about anything valuable. Rather than offer anything they just send an email telling you its not covered.

Moving staffers also only cover while they are on site. How can you tell while they are packing?

So ABF doesn't cover anything nor does moving staffers. So BEWARE.

Long-distance move from Long Island City, NY to Atlanta, GA

You can’t say you weren’t warned.

Truly one of the worst moving experiences I have experienced — and that is saying something give I have moved 16 times in 35 years. Everything I was told - from the size of the cube needed to the time needed to hire movers to the delivery instructions - were wrong. The kind of wrong, of course, that benefitted the company. A move estimated to cost about $2,500 cost more than $4,000. Neither U-Pack nor its subcontractor, Moving Staffers, take responsibility for anything. Do yourself a favor and go with another company. The stress and heartache just aren’t worth it.

Long-distance move from Williamsfield, OH to Hesperus, CO

U pack moving.

I am completely satisfied, ABF trailer was delivered on time and when promised. The movers that were contracted to help me load were efficient and did a great job packing items. I would recommend paying for movers to load the trailer, so the trailer is packed properly to protect your items. I supplied plenty of rope and straps, load was tied off multiple times during process. I was notified when trailer arrived at destination city and arranged a drop off time. Trailer is easily unloaded if you have enough help and I had plenty of time for unloading. Compared to previous move, I felt UPack communicated much better and I was given contact numbers for all parties involved and could find out at anytime the progress of my move. Will use again if needed.

Long-distance move from Austin, TX to Mundelein, IL

Countless damaged posessions. Stressful waste of money.

Using UPack turned into an enormous loss of money and possessions for my family. We essentially paid $3k for an unrealistic moving concept, only to have about 1/3rd of our belongings destroyed. I submitted a claims form for the damage via their website, and was notified that they "strive to respond to all complaints within 30 days." It's been nearly two months and I've only gotten crickets.

Firstly, you are sharing freight space in a semi trailer, and this thing will take up (at a minimum) three parking spaces. So you better have room to park it for packing and unpacking, and brace yourself for complaints from your neighbors.

You are then expected to assemble and de assemble heavy equipment on the truck (freight bulkhead and loadbar). For anyone unfamiliar with those two pieces, I was stuck trying to set up and connect/secure and tear down two giant, dilapidated wooden walls and secure them with a large reinforced metal bar. Repeat this process in reverse, for unpacking. My wife was unavailable to help, but even with two people/movers on the task, I find this to be a dangerous proposition – especially for those inexperienced with freight (most everyone). It doesn't help when the heat is in the upper 90s, and your moving truck is essentially a huge metallic oven. That will make the bulkhead installation thatmuch more miserable.

As I mentioned, we lost almost all of our belongings. We packed everything in as instructed in the instructions, and secured/packed everything as safely as possible. So how was everything bashed to bits? I can only assume that the ride was exceptionally rough.

One problem with Upack is that it's near impossible for the layman to properly pack a large semi trailer. Since you won't get everything securely packed to the top (unless you went crazy with a ladder), your items are bound to bounce about. But that isn't the consumer's fault. It's just a flawed concept.

Add in the enormous weight and high speeds of a semi truck, and your possessions are bound to get ruined. At least, ours were. We lost our television, TV stand, bathroom cabinet, dishes, glassware, chairs, and more. Half of our boxes were damaged or smashed. One of television stand's legs snapped clear off during the transport.

I wish I had fully moved in before submitting my claim. We are still slowly unpacking, and coming across more and more damaged possessions. I don't feel that this company cares one bit, either.

Don't take your chances with UPack. Not only is their service inconvenient and expensive, their lack of customer care (in my experience) is practically non-existent.

Long-distance move from Oswego, NY to Russellville, AR

Bigger than you think.

To start our journey we called every major moving company near us, pods was overall the absolute most expensive, one was not available in our area and upack was both available in our area and the area we were moving to and it was the most cost effective. It was easy to order the “relo-cube” online, we picked our dates for drop off and they made sure to call a day before and the day of to ensure that was when we wanted it. Very friendly service. The cube at first look was small, but when we opened it and actually started to pack it, it was HUGE. We managed to fit all of our stuff inside, and had room to spare. We went online again, put in that we were ready for it to be picked up, they came the very next day, without problems. We had it delivered to our new address in Arkansas, and had it held in their unpack location for a few days, and they never added any additional fees To our bill. We unloaded it and called that night and they came first thing in the morning to pick it up.

Also both of the movers who dropped off the boxes wore masks and made us feel very safe. It was a wonderful experience, and I very much recommend this company!

Long-distance move from Waukesha, WI to Rotonda West, FL

Damaged Goods and Poor response.

Moved from WI to FL Sept 2020. The moving part of the process was great and easy to set up and execute. However, the packing and handling of personal items is totally a different story. I had some very expensive items that had been handed down in my family and been moved 8 times in the last 10 years across the globe damaged. The damage was caused due to poor packing and strapping of the load before shipping. When I contacted Upack to discuss I was treated like I was at fault and told your only recourse is to claim @$0.10 per lb. The items damaged equal about $14 000 and I will be paid $94.50 if I am lucky. I submitted the claim to get it sent back because I used a dash vs. a period in the total amount. I highly recommend that you don't use this crowd unless you totally supervise the entire loading process as it will bite you later.

Long-distance move from Pittsburgh, PA to Plano, TX

Long distance move.

From PIT to DFW. Easy to load, arrived in 5 days, no damage, nice people, and 60% of the cost of PODS.

I used PODS for a local move and liked them. I called them to match U-PACK’s price and they would not and told me that U-PACK would not care for my shipment like they would. Not true. U-PACK is just as good for less money. Will use them again!

Long-distance move from San Bernardino, CA to Houston, TX

Across state move

I utilized two pods to help my mom move from CA to TX at a cost of over $3,100. The pods took longer than expected. The pods were scheduled to arrive 8am to noon on specific day, they arrived late. One of the pods arrived with a damaged lock and could not be opened. UPack was not helpful nor was their freight carrier ABF. I had to go out myself and buy bolt cutters and break in to get my stuff. That took another day to do. On a move of over $3,100 they offered to now pay for the bolt cutters and give me $20 for my time (that's a .64% discount). What a total waste of a service this was.

Long distance move from Milford, CT to Piedmont, SC

Great experience with UPack ! I reserved our 27 ft trailer online. I had to change the move date once ( done easily).

I spoke with Michael from the Orange, CT office-he was so helpful and friendly. The trailer was dropped off exactly when promised , we hired professional movers to load it, and it was quickly picked up hours ahead of a snowstorm.

A week later, I spoke with a friendly woman at the Duncan,SC depot and she also arranged for a quick dropoff to our new house.

The driver was very helpful - he even set up the ramp for us. Everything arrived intact, nothing broken or wet. They are a very professional company, we already have two more family members booking them for their moves. They made our move stress-free . Thank you, UPack !!
