Long-distance move from Minneapolis, MN to Arlington, VA

Unbelievable Scam

*When our movers came to do the pick-up, they actually apologized for how much Trinity was scamming us *

*Almost 3 times initial estimate*

First, let's start with something even Trinity wouldn't try to dispute. Trinity is not a moving company; they are a Broker who charges a massive fee to organize a 'binding' agreement between you the customer and actual moving companies. If you take a moment to look through some of the real reviews here, you may see a common trend. The 'binding' price that they offer is not so binding after all. Although sometimes this discrepancy may be because you fail to properly account for your belongings, more often it is because their estimation is a complete joke.

They highlight on their promotional materials that furniture will be disassembled and reassembled at the destination. THIS IS NOT TRUE. Any furniture that did not physically need to be disassembled to be carried to or fit in the truck was shipped as is. Needless to say, this led to a discrepancy in Trinity's Estimate, and the voiding of that 'binding' offer.

Then we can talk about the insane additional fees that are applied on top of your 'binding' offer whether that offer is even 'broken'. We were asked by Trinity what floor the pick-up and drop off apartments were on, and whether the movers would have to use stairs as that obviously would be extra. What we were not told by Trinity is that there was an additional $500 charge for the movers to use the elevator. This unsurprisingly was on top of the "binding" price. Funnily enough the moving company told us that Trinity had actually misfiled the paperwork and if they had done it correctly, we would not have had that charge. Meanwhile Trinity told us that they did the best that they could to 'negotiate' that charge with the moving company, but unless we paid them additional money they would stop trying to 'negotiate' on our behalf. Then we get into the Long Carry charge. The long carry charge un-surprisingly is tacked on any time the movers need to roll something more than 75ft. This charge is pretty intuitive, however when we asked Trinity about the charge on multiple occasions, they said that it only applied if the 75 ft was outside of the building. I guess that made sense since this was Minnesota in the winter, however as you could probably guess by this point, that was not what the actual moving company had in mind.

We are currently looking at 1.5 times the price in the binding offer which was already almost double their initial estimate... that is ALMOST 3 TIMES THE INITIAL ESTIMATE And that is only if we don't need to get into litigation to have them return our stuff which they are threatening to hold onto unless we accept all the charges unconditionally.

We don't even know if any of our stuff will still be in one piece when it gets here yet, as it is currently being held hostage. But based on many of the other reviews, I can guess that it will not be.

Warning!!!! STAY AWAY!!!!

Do not use their service. They are brokers sweet and kind and once you send a deposit, they are hard to reach and do not return calls. They sent a moving team of two men from the company We Care For You. One stayed in the truck 75% of the time in the truck. I was missing jewelry once they left. They were rude and pressured me to pay another $1200 over the quote. When I complained to Trinity they would not assist me with my complaints. They offered a $75 credit if I agreed not to post a negative review. Please research and find a reputable company. Do not get swayed by the initial phone call. The entire moving experience was miserable and emotionally upsetting. When my possessions finally arrived, I had boxes of smashed Crystals and ceramics. They took my Persian rug. Please, please do not use these awful people.

Trinity Relocation Group Contract B5125136

We Care For You Contract BB6280940

I do not recommend Trinity Relocation Group or We Care For You in Florida. With my wife and I serving 22 and 26 years in the military respectively and having moved many times both overseas and within the United States this was the worst move we have ever experienced. Trinity Relocation Group acts as a broker for moving companies and contracted with We Care For You out of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida for the actual move. We were moving from Cape Coral, Fl to Oklahoma City, OK between two assisted living centers and contracted for a complete pack and unpack.

We Care For You FAILED to meet their contractual obligations since they disassembled our bed on the shipping end and did not reassemble it as requested on the receiving end. In the end we did not receive all of our household goods and at least two items were broken.

Packout: Our driver was scheduled between 9 AM and 2 PM. At 10 AM he called and said would it be alright if they came around 5-6 PM. I reminded them this was a move from an assisted living center that had restrictions on move times but got permission for the late move. The driver then called back stating they would be there by 1 PM because of the move restrictions. They arrived at 1:40. Once there he looked at the apartment and said he did not have room for the move on his truck. He called his boss and put him on speaker phone and proceeded to get into an argument with his boss while standing next to me. His boss said if he couldn’t handle the job himself to come back. The driver then got in his truck and drove off. Another driver and crew came to move our stuff the next day but they were late since their original truck was not working properly. This crew was extremely courteous, professional and accommodating during the pack and load. I noticed they did not bring any wrapping paper for the glassware and asked about that. The driver showed me a black trash bag full of used wrapping paper and told me his boss said to use that. He also asked me about what had happened the day before and when I explained he told me the other driver had been fired.

Waiting for delivery: Although I had explained to Trinity that I wanted my furniture delivered and unpacked not later than 18 December and that they could back up the pack date to accommodate that request my furniture and household goods were not delivered until 23 December. We Care For You kept telling me they were waiting on truck availability for the Midwest.

Delivery: The driver arrived as scheduled, but had no help and was going to move everything by himself. While talking to the driver I mentioned I wanted all of the trash taken away since this had been done during all of our other moves and to make sure he assembled the bed. We got into an argument about this and he told me I couldn’t tell him what to do and sat in his truck for quite some time. When I asked him when he was going to unload he said not until I treated him with respect and asked him nicely. I succumbed to his request. He then brought the contract into the apartment and asked me to sign the paperwork which stated I had received everything and that it was in good condition. I said I would be happy to once it was all in the apartment and I could inspect it. This led to him calling his supervisor and wrongly claiming I would not sign the paperwork. I asked to speak with the supervisor and that is when I was told they would not remove the trash and the driver was told to unload the truck. The driver then walked past me to the truck and cussed me in Spanish. When I told him I knew what he said he denied it and then called me the same thing in English. The driver began to unload and was taking the moving blankets off of the furniture in the parking lot so I asked him to leave the blankets on so that the furniture did not get damaged by the dolly. He proceeded to tell me how good he was and that he knew what he was doing and that he was going to unwrap all of it in the parking lot so I could inspect it out there and then sign the documents. I told him I would not inspect anything until it was inside the apartment. I then began to video what he was doing and when he saw me he quit unwrapping items in the parking lot. Things started to go better and when everything was in the apartment, but the bed was not unwrapped or put together he again tried to get me to sign the paperwork. I told him once everything was unwrapped and the bed assembled, I would inspect and sign. He then went off on me again and said that the only reason I wouldn’t sign the paperwork was because of the color of his skin and that I was a racist. He then went out and closed up his truck and came back without any tools. I told him I would be happy to sign once he put the bed together. He then took the paperwork and left claiming I refused to sign. My wife and I were left to assemble the bed and finish unpacking.

Long-distance move from San Antonio, TX to Cincinnati, OH

I didn’t know people this crooked existed outside the movies.

This company quoted me a decent rate initially, so I paid the deposit. When my movers showed up, they demanded almost three times what they’d quoted me for an estimate. When I called to inquire how that could happen, the salesman, Nate, who had given me such a great estimate said he would no longer help me because he doesn’t deal with customers after they have started the move. Then he hung up on me. I called his manager, Alexis, and she called me a liar (what about? I don’t know?) - I even clarified and asked, “I’m sorry did you just call me a liar?” And she said, “Yes ma’am, you lied to me.” She just hung up on me before I could get more clarity about what she meant. At that point, the movers who were with me in person told me my only options were to leave with only half my stuff, find new movers, or pay more than twice what I’d been quoted. This is how this company gets you - they make you think you’re getting a great deal by intentionally giving you a poor estimate, then when you’re already deep in the process, they move the goal posts and leave you with no choice but to pay them a ridiculous price. At that point they can be as rude to you as they want. If you’ve already paid the deposit for this company, and are having second thoughts, it’s probably still going to be cheaper, and mentally healthier, for you to cut your losses and find a better company. Don’t throw your money away to these gaslighters.

Fast talking scam artist don't use them but if you do:

Don't ever get a over the phone estimate, make them come in person. They gave me an estimate and told me there would be no other charges. Once they loaded the truck I was told that it would be another-40%-to-transport-it-and-unload. In the future I will stick with Allied, North American or United Van Line. They're professional and do the job for what they say they will.

I would highly recommend Trinity Relocation company!

They impressed me from the reservation all the way to the end of the job. They arrived on time and examined the room first to understand what is the moving stuff then prepared all the moving materials. During the process, they are very careful, professional, nice, and friendly. Most importantly they are so efficient! I think every family when they move should provide some kind of food because moving is not an easy job.

A very efficient and careful moving experience

They were great and very careful and respectful and quick. They wrapped all of our furniture carefully using blankets & wraps and packed our clothing into wardrobe boxes that they provided for free. The call/reservation team was great as well, they answered all my questions and provided the necessary details. They informed me about all of the charges and I didn't pay any extra hidden charges. I highly recommend Trinity Relocation Group and will definitely call them in the future if I move again.

Bait and switch

If I could leave a negative rating, that is what this company would get. I used them on 2 moves about a week apart.

The first Mover showed up very late and immediately told me that the pricing is wrong and should be about double what we were quoted. Since the Florida office was closed, the mover loaded the furniture anyway and no price increase.

2nd move, they showed up around 9am with a truck about 2/3rd full. The did the same thing, insisted the load was double the price.

This time, they did reach the Florida broker.

She basically said I didn't tell the salesperson what I was moving. She said she had it on tape. I said get it. "Oh, that would take a couple days" so I was given two choices: eith er cancel and lose my monies paid to Trinity (1342.00) and no move or I come up with another 1200 for them to load the furniture.

In the meantime, I did much better research.

Who'd have thought a .org could be bought (consumervoice.org - rating of 9.7 - but somewhere they tell you that they accept advertising and can select omit reviews).

ConsumerAdvocate.org - gave top rating and also they share a virus (my virus scan caught it).

122 reported cases on the Better Business Bureau. Most of them had the same problem. The company bids low to get your business but it's not an accurate bid. Also known as a bate and switch.

These guys are brokers, not movers. They are in business to get the sale and subcontract out the actual work. That is why they demand their 1/3 up front.

Also note. They load the truck, go to a centralized location and unload your belongings. Then they wait till they can find a load headed to your destination. Read the fine print, this can take TONS of time.

Did I mention they don't answer the phone once they get your business? You get inaccurate time frames for pickup / delivery where you have to constantly to call and get time frame.

DON'T GO WITH THIS COMPANY. They are the worst outfit I've ever dealt with. My bid went from 2800 to 4000. Just like that.

Long-distance move from Colorado Springs, CO to Worcester, MA

Lies and more

June 2022. Move from CO to MA. One bedroom apartment. Was told they bill by weight and since she (I was arranging a move for my daughter) had roughly 1000lbs we had "wiggle-room" because they have a 2000lb minimum. The actual mover got to the home on the scheduled day, and I was told that Trinity Relocation is the broker and had no business telling me they billed by weight because billing is done by space. $1000 price increase. We certainly would've packed differently had that been made known to me. So, having no choice but to have them do the pick-up to stay on schedule, I had them do their job then I called Trinity to ask why. I spoke with Caleb who swore up and down that nobody would ever tell me billing was done by weight, but he would absolutely listen to my phone calls (I was told the story about billing by weight TWICE in two different calls) and he would get back to me and make things right. 4 days pass and no reply. So, I call and speak to a man named Jack. Jack tells me he thinks I got confused because I got a few other quotes, and I must be mistaken. He assured me he would listen to the calls as well, even send them to me as well, and get back to me. 6 days later and still no response. Today, I called looking for an explanation and what I got was an attitude problem and a "you will never hear those calls and I'm too busy to deal with this and you absolutely can't speak to Jack". What I think is either the original person, Shane, did indeed misinform me and they don't want to refund me anything or they do this bait and switch to rip people off. So, I'm out $1000 and apparently, according to the actual moving company, this is common practice with them. Please beware and don't get ripped of like I did! Had I checked reviews more closely I would've seen all the negative comments and how so many people got taken. How are they still in business????

Was give initial quote by Christian. Payed the deposit and was told that I would be called to schedule the move in 24-48 hours. I kept calling them because no one called me for almost a week. Worst ever!

There is nothing I regret more in my life than using Trinity Relocation Group. What a scam! If there were zero, or negative stars, I would give that. They are TERRIBLE. They showed up to our house and told us we have to pay $10,000 MORE than the estimate! And they are completely full of BS when they say they are contacting the movers, etc. There is no communication between companies. They are not forthright when to expect your stuff. They didn’t even have our delivery address on file when I called to check on our progress. Terrible terrible terrible. We are having to get lawyers involved.

Reasonable Service But Unexpected Fees and Poor Delivery Windows

- Monday on pickup, they sent one poor dude to do the entire truck load. Took 5 hours to load only 400 cubic sq ft and then then they charged me an extra $1200 more than the estimate for 350 cubic sq ft.

- They also promised a delivery window between Monday-Wednesday ASAP but then dispatch calls on Tuesday and says I need to pay 70% of the cost before they can dispatch immediately Tuesday.

- However, after I pay they tell me they cannot deliver for another 48 hours OUTSIDE of the promised window.

Avoid

This a review against Star USA Moving LLC and Trinity Relocation Group LLC:

Back in March or April of 2022, I contacted various moving companies to get quotes for a move to a different state. I gave each one a mostly accurate inventory of my stuff, and Trinity offered an estimate of $2444 when all others were offering around $5000 (red flag 1). I know now this is a common sales tactical for disreputable moving companies to get sales in their door. I gave them an updated inventory on 13 June 2022. No change to cubic footage from them, no correspondence from them pertaining to the update.

On 14 June, Alex from Star USA Moving called and asked if I was ready today, when my pickup was supposed to be 15-17 June, so 1 day early. Now for context, I am a US Army veteran with pretty severe PTSD and Anxiety. If wrenches get thrown into my plans, I go into panic mode. I stated I was, but I had some last minute packing to do. Star arrived, looked at my stuff, stated the estimte was wrong, and stated it was going to cost around $6500 instead (this is before taking into account the 972 deposit I had paid). I'm a single mother, this was extremely over budget. I called my partner to advise him of the changes, and during the call, Alex was extremely rude, aggressive, and manipulative, which triggered me into a panic attack. In this state, I ended up throwing out a few boxes of stuff, one of which contained my son's baby book. I also signed the contract in this state, so I signed the contract under duress.

Alex also demanded money through cash, Zelle, or postal office money order. Red flag 2, as all reputable moving companys WILL accept credit, debit, or check. Again he was extremely rude and pushy, which almost drove me into a second panic attack. I am supposed to receive my stuff today, and they have threaten to hold my stuff hostage if I do not pay the full remainder when they arrive.

Now I have done some research in the interim. They cannot hold my stuff hostage per DoT guidance. I have paid over 110% of the $2444 non-binding estimate, so they HAVE TO deliver my stuff, they have to finish the job. I have also not receive legible and clear copies of my 'contract'.

I have filed a complaint with the DoT for both companies, and will be also filing complaints for both companies with the BBB. I will also warn all of you to stay away from both of these companies if you can. The low estimate is NOT worth the stress and heartache.

Deceptive quotes

If I could give 0 stars I would. Trinity Relocation Group was very deceptive when they provided an initial quote.  At first, they provided a quote of $3,063.  The estimator did not ask specific questions such as how many rooms, boxes, furniture or size storage unit we had etc. but very generic questions such as “what are your big items?”

After the initial quote they were supposed to call back a week before pick up but they didn’t call so I called them and asked if they are still going to pick up and put the rest of the items in the quote. They didn’t called back until 2 days of picking up and since they didn’t ask specific questions and go off the storage unit size on the first call they changed my quote to $8,595 which meant I needed to pay another deposit because they didn’t rent a big enough truck. Then when they came to pick up the stuff the quote went up again and needed up costing $10,750 The quote was changed three times as you can see and increased significantly.  Their way of quoting is not clear and deceptive from my experience.

Because of the discrepancy between quotes, I called customer service around 10-12 times and asked if I could get a discount. They told me they would listen to the recorded calls I placed with customer service to investigate if there were any misquoted prices or information provided.  Of course they did not listen to the calls nor provide a discount. They simply said it would not matter because I signed a contract.

The supervisors were not willing to work with me and unprofessional. I would highly recommend that you DO NOT use Trinity Relocation Group.  Do your homework and choose a company who will be upfront about pricing and provide accurate quotes.

If I could rate it 0 starts I would. I paid thousands of dollars for this move just for all of my things not to be taken. Egregious ‘customer care’

Trinity is actually a broker for moving companies and hires out your job based on your contract with them (that is that other companies bid on the contracts). When you ask them to book your move, Trinity puts your contract up for several independent ‘head hunters’ who call you relentlessly to get you to sign and pony up for the deposit. Mine was Kevin from New Jersey. He told me he was my guy and would be there every step of the way - and gave me his ‘personal cell’ that I could call with any questions or concerns. Well, Kevin then gets the contract back to Trinity and they put your contract up for bid. Companies bid to be the ones to do your move. That new company then shows up and gives you their NEW estimate for what it will actually cost to move. Often times this is at least $1000 more than what Trinity estimates. If you tell them their new estimate is way overpriced, you loose 50% of your deposit to Trinity (often over $1000) and you have to rebook. For my contract, I booked car moving services and House moving services about 6 wks prior to my move date. I was moving my parents out to move with the rest of the family (about half way across the US). I booked my travel and stay after my dates were set. I tried to contact Kevin a few times in advance of the move, however, he never called me back after everything was booked and he had his money. Just FYI They give you a range of two dates that was planned for - I planned to be the one day before and one day after the move to be safe. The day of the move, The movers showed up six hours after their scheduled pickup time (Trinity is a go-between which is frustrating at the very least). So far they’ve only picked up, I have not received my drop off yet. The car movers never came so I contacted Trinity. The first lady told me she would look into immediately. I never heard back so I called again only to get the “night agent” named Lisa. She said she would get it moving ‘first thing in the morning.’ I never heard back so I called again only to speak with a real bellyacher of a woman. They told me they quoted me on the car relocation but never attempted to “book it” with another company. When the day came to move the cars ‘customer service’ told me there was an error and they never booked it and gave me new ‘urgent rates’ and a date well after my departure for pickup - I told them this was unacceptable and they need to make it right in the time frame promised. I first talked to Jasmine who was incredibly rude so I asked to speak to a manager or someone who could help and she said ‘she was the manager” and hung up on me. I got another call from a ‘Caleb’ who basically gave me the same information (that they screwed up but can’t help within the timeframe promised) just in a nicer way. He also informed me that Jasmine is in fact NOT a manager and is just a terrible human being that no one likes working with. Overall, They did absolutely nothing to help. Moreover they tried to make me feel like it was my fault that they (a booking company) failed to book a service on which they quoted me. If y’all want to be scammed by Trinity and then told there’s ‘nothing we can do’ after trinity failed to do their job; this is the company for you. We’ll see how the delivery goes! My guess it is will be similar.

Their quotes are lies, their customer service is trash.

ONLY USE THIS COMPANY IF YOU HAVE TIME TO WASTE AND MONEY TO SPEND.

I would write a review everyday if I had to because as someone who used to work in a customer service driven industry these people are severely lacking it. From Trinity themselves to the third party they hire they offer nothing but false hope and disappointment.

They start off great and have a decent price. I even recommended them to my friend who was moving at the same time. Little do you know the decent price is because they give you a piss poor estimation on how much it will cost to move your stuff.

After I signed the contract and my pick up date was quickly approaching, I called multiple times to figure out when they would even be picking up my stuff. The last time I called they would be there in 30 minutes. They told me someone would call me the day before, no one did. They said even if no one can reach you they would send an email or leave a voicemail, no one did.

Ok great. Now I have a bad taste in my mouth but I understand these things happen. When they picked up my items, I asked now how do I arrange a deliver date for my items. I was told “you call us whenever you’re ready it won’t be an issue at all.”

Spoiler alert: it was an issue. I have been having to actively call for the past week and a half to figure out this delivery date. And today when it’s finally supposed to be delivered the driver tells me “well we have to get a smaller truck which might cost you more” and now they won’t deliver today anymore but in the morning and he said that’s only if I figure out who’s going to pay me for getting the smaller truck. As a matter of fact he told me that I should call Trinity to figure it out myself. To which I obviously refused. Why should I have to make another call for y’all to figure out YOUR job.

Every phone call that I have had with someone from Trinity or Top Notch services was filled with a myriad of varying information. Or simply being unhelpful. They take your money and don’t hold up their end of the deal at all. They say refer to the contract and wipe their hands of it.

Moving is already stressful and these people add to the stress. They expect you to be able to arrange your schedule due to their lack of communication even if you go out of your way to preemptively get information.

Unless you are moving a couple hours away, DO NOT USE THEIR SERVICES. Rent a UHAUL and drive even with these crazy gas prices. Pay some family members or some friends to help you move.

I was willing to pay for the convenience and now this is a decision I regret fully.

Zero Customer Service

Do NOT use this company! Customer service is a joke. Items were lost. Furniture was delivered that wasn't even ours! Avoid the nightmare and look for a more reputable company. It will save you the headache and the cost - it turned out that we were charged "extra" because there were stairs. Called and emailed Trinity several times - no help whatsoever. What a nightmare.

Long-distance move from Fort Lauderdale, FL to Colorado Springs, CO

BEWARE, stole over $1000

These guys are straight up crooks. I filled out their "what are you sending" form with a guy on the phone but I was out of state. Then, when I was in state I sent him 7 pictures of the contents of what I was sending. He said it was still way below the minimum to send (like 340 cubic feet). Then, when the actual movers came, they said my stuff was over 1000 cubic feet and were going to triple my costs.

Trinity then said that all deposits are non-refundable even thought I'd confirmed with the worker what was being sent. The guy on the phone also said I could have some hard to pack stuff in garbage bags which the actual movers wouldn't allow.

I called Trinity and they said they'd check the phone logs, then they never contacted me again and I'm out over a grand on the deposit AND had to figure out how to move myself via UHaul last minute.

SCAMMERS. Even the movers that came said so.

Long-distance move from Hillsboro, OR to Easley, SC

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!

SAVE YOURSELF THE PAIN, AGONY, AND LOSS OF MONEY!

Their initial estimate was for $9,800 but I never heard from the company until it was near my scheduled move date (July 15-17, 2022). Finally two young men show up at my house on a Friday, 5:30PM with no credentials from a shady moving company with a rented U-Haul truck. At this time, they inform me that it would probably require two trips with their rental truck and once they were loaded with two-thirds of my items, the estimate more than doubled. they then demanded additional payment and left. Thus far they have never returned for my other items. I fear my items are now stolen, along with my $12,556.29 deposit.
