      The shipment updates provided by Safeway Moving Systems were quite helpful while relocating between states. Having known the status of our shipment helped to make better plans around the delivery. The crew was quite courteous, and the stuff has been delivered safely.

      Loved them!

      My previous movers canceled at the last minute the night before I was supposed to move on a Saturday! I was at my wits' end and called this company desperate and was fully expecting them to say no. But to my relief, they moved their schedule and came early the next day and moved me out quicker than I could have ever fathomed. I could've really fucked this up man, but it didn't happen. I am so amazed!

      Very hard working group of guys.

      Best Process!

      We moved from a house with a finished basement to a property where everything was on one level. The basement had a large sectional, a pool table, and several substantial storage cabinets that needed extra attention during removal. The crew worked out how to get the heavier pieces upstairs and out through the available space. At the new property, they followed our directions for the furniture placement. I was glad we had people who could handle the more difficult parts without making the move unnecessarily stressful.

      Poor Service and False Advertising

      Long story short, Safeway is a dishonest company that made my move significantly more stressful and frustrating than it needed to be due to lack of communication, respect, and honesty. I’ll detail my experience below but I would not recommend booking with them but if you already have, try to get as much in writing as you can.

      To begin with, I was misled during booking promising that only Safeway would handle my move, that GPS tracking would be available, and that the delivery date would be scheduled before my first available delivery date. These were the main reasons I booked with Safeway. To later find out that I would not have any of those things was disappointing to say the least.

      I originally booked with Safeway because the salesman, Scott Curtis, seemed to answer all of my questions with honesty and transparency, but, unfortunately, that was all a show to get my business.

      My first red flag was when another moving company, Just Pro Moving, arrived to pick up my belongings. Scott promised me that Safeway owns all their trucks and employs all of their movers. He affirmed Safeway would be the one handling the move from beginning to end. He went so far as to send me a separate…

      DONT HIRE THIS COMPANY

      Still haven’t received our stuff 10 days later & just got off the phone with customer service. Guess what? “We don’t see where your truck is.”. We went with this company because they’re military owned & figured they would be organized and have good comms. They had to put our belongings on two trucks because they packed their truck too much on prior trips & couldn’t fit all of our stuff. We said okay, do what you have to do. When they left our house we asked how long until we get our belongings? They stated “it depends on weather but you’re the next stop.”. The driver confirmed he listed first available date as April 22nd. The drive from our OG state to this state is under 2 day drive btw. We called everyday because we weren’t getting calls back & no one could tell us where our truck was (& customer service was rather rude) until last Wednesday when they said our stuff was dropped off at a warehouse in Dallas, TX….it was never mentioned our stuff would be dropped off in another state out of the way. Called next day…still at warehouse. Waited the weekend and called this AM. They can’t answer where our stuff is & don’t see where the truck is. Do not hire this company unless you…

      Worst Move Ever: Do NOT Recommend

      I hired Safeway for a move, which included packing up a 6,000 sq ft house, in early March 2023 from Santa Fe NM to Philadelphia PA. I chose Safeway due to its good recommendations and a desire to support service members. Arranging the move was fine; the follow thru was not. The van arrived very late so packers couldn't work, there weren't sufficient boxes or packing materials (they had to buy out the stock of boxes and paper at the nearest UHaul center), packers had to stay an extra day, items were put in boxes without packing materials, the van left without a roomful of packed boxes, mover had to return several days later to pick them up and pack up 6 additional boxes of items that had not been packed. During this time I called the contact number I had been given repeatedly and received no response. Upon delivery & after unloading I was told many of the boxes had no numbers so I needed to sign off as "whatever was in the van was mine". Upon unloading I discovered extensive breakage (several thousand dollars), however since I had good moves prior I had opted value by pound and received a claim settlement of less than $100. I've moved about a dozen times over 50 years in my prior…

Best process!

The coordinator approached the matter carefully by researching the access details instead of making assumptions. The crew followed the specified route and arrived at the destination without taking any detours. I was happy that the coordinator paid special attention to such a minor detail which might be ignored otherwise since it was not located within the standard busy zone.

Red flags in the contract

Please read before booking!

This company operates more like a moving broker than an actual moving company. Brokers don’t own trucks, don’t employ the movers, and often sell your job to another company — which explains why the contract feels so concerning. Here’s what stood out:

1) Extremely low liability for damaged items. They aren’t responsible for fragile items unless they pack them. My family learned this the hard way.

2) You pay 90% before delivery. They require 40% upfront and another 50% at pickup — meaning you’ve paid almost everything before your belongings even arrive.

3) They can legally hold your belongings. The contract allows them to keep — and even auction — your items until you pay any charges they claim.

4) Delivery dates are meaningless. Verbal promises don’t count. The delivery window can be up to 6 weeks not including storage time, weather delays, or other exceptions. Even the “premium service” (which costs extra) only guarantees dates if both sides agree in writing.

5) They can use subcontractors without telling you. Your belongings may pass through multiple unknown hands, making accountability and claims much harder.

6) They take no responsibility for damaged electronics period

7) They can change your estimate on the spot; the classic bait‑and‑switch tactic

And this doesn’t even cover what happens if you try to pursue anything legally — that’s a whole separate nightmare. Please think twice (and then a third time) before choosing this company. Read the contract carefully, or have a lawyer or AI review it. My family’s experience was awful, and I hope this helps someone avoid the same situation.

Impressive Moving Team.

These guys handled our move with a lot of skill and patience. We had a few delays with the keys at the new place, but the crew waited by the truck without any complaints. Once we got inside, they worked quickly to unload everything and put the heavy boxes in the correct rooms. I liked that they were very careful with the walls and the door frames throughout the entire day.

Safeway Moving Systems, Inc. is one, if not the WORST, moving company I have ever encountered in my life. So, too, are their affiliated, Trans United and DM, Mover (Mr. Melendez, President).

PLEASE NOTE:
By mentioning the sales representatives name, I am in no way sharing any private or personal information that is not already available to the public. It is my responsibility and constitutional right to speak out as a disenfranchised customer about this company that has intentionally inflicted emotional and financial distress and professional hardship on me, among many others.

Mr. Scott is the face of this interaction, and I can prove it. This man is the one who introduced me to Danny Melendez, one of the movers of the crew who literally stole my rocking chair and other boxed item. Mr. Scott has been actively avoiding his professional responsibilities, and he passed work over the their assistant, Delilah, who does not seem to have a clue what she is doing.

Mr. Scott, Mr. Melendez, and Jason from Hallandale, FL, and their crew of thieves, charged me over $8,000 (+ tip) cash for a move that was initially quoted for half that. I am sharing these names because they are of public record, and I can prove it, and I want the public to know what they are getting themselves into by entering in a contract with crooked salesman. Ultimately, it was demanded that I WIRE TRANSFER $4,000 to them before delivery. After I did, they couldn't even call me to notify they have received the payment, which is the one request I made. There was no follow-through, which was really upsetting.

On moving day, I come to find out the initial movers (Danny Melendez and his crew) stole my rocking chair, broke several pieces of furniture (to an non-replaceable state), lost/stole more boxes with personal/household items, and concocted numerous lies about alleged delivery attempts made, yet I had no prior notification, but they still charged me for redelivery, storage, etc. I have cell phone records to prove this!

I was cursed out by multiple employees, a man with Trans United in Florida and a driver from CA. Danny Melendez and another man named Jason are affiliated with these scammers.

These reviews are being reported not because they are personal in nature, but because they expose the wrongdoing of this corrupt company that must be held accountable. I guarantee that if we, as customers, received the services that we initially signed up/paid for, I would not be sitting here writing this.

E. Scott knows and partakes in the deleterious ways these moving companies scam millions, and neither he, nor his staff, care that people are being hurt and placed under unnecessary strife. By depriving us of our hard-earned belongings, our money, and our trust in moving companies, you have violated the trust of millions.

What precautions should be taken before customers allow complete strangers to view and make note of everything that we value, everything that we own, thrown it in a truck, and drive away to who knows where? Do we call ICE? FBI? I know who I'm contacting, and this isn't a threat. I'm a federal employee, and I would never recommend any state or government agency to even consider these companies again.

I had to retain legal representation in order to get my belongings, which they kept from me for nearly 3 months, intentionally. I was forced to sleep on the floor, and one person from FL screamed at me and asked how it felt to know that Eric Scott was intentionally ignoring my calls/emails, then he laughed at me. Appalling customer service, and unprofessional behavior.

Further action is being taken, as these people are dishonest, manipulative, and thieves. I am also not the only victim.

SERVICE MEMBERS, FEDERAL & STATE GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES, ETC. PLEASE AVOID.

My brother told me to call David because he had a great experience last year. I am glad I listened because the service was excellent and very straightforward. The truck was large enough for all my belongings, and the crew was friendly the whole time. Problem Solver

Great sales pitch. Smooth pickup. Then total radio silence.

Once they had my money and all my belongings, delivery promises meant nothing. Missed delivery windows, daily calls, zero answers, and a constant “dispatch will reach out” lie that never happened.

Customer service admitted they don’t know when my stuff will arrive and don’t care because they’re protected by the 30-day rule.

Great care was taken

Our new refrigerator was delivered, but the delivery guys wouldn't take the old one away. We called Safeway Moving Systems for a small job to just haul the old fridge from our kitchen, down a deck, and away. Jack came out himself. He was in and out in under thirty minutes. He had all the right straps and a dolly to navigate the tricky step down from the deck without damaging anything. He was friendly and didn't charge a huge minimum fee.

Friendly and helpful guys!

I'm a photographer and needed to move my studio. This meant moving not just furniture, but extremely expensive, sensitive camera gear, lighting equipment, and backdrop stands. I was a nervous wreck. The crew treated my equipment like museum pieces. They used custom-sized boxes and an incredible amount of foam padding for every lens and light. Loyal Customer service.

The movers showed up ready and didn’t get thrown off by the mess. They asked a couple of quick questions and then just got to it. I would highly recommend working with this team.

My move involved a lot of heavy books and several tall bookshelves that are difficult to transport. The team arrived with plenty of sturdy crates and moved the heavy boxes without any trouble. They did a great job from start to end

It was a huge task moving out of my third-floor apartment, but this crew made the whole day a lot easier than I expected. The weather was actually pretty terrible with a lot of wind, but they just kept going until the truck was full. They listened when I told them which boxes were fragile and made sure those went on top. It was nice to have people who actually paid attention to what I was saying.

Very smoothly and tension-free

I’ve dealt with movers before, so I notice small things now. These guys didn’t need constant direction. Once I explained what goes where, they followed through. The loading and unloading felt organized without being stiff or formal. They make sure that all things arrive safely with no damage to anything. After they left, I looked around and thought, okay, this was done properly. That’s the kind of move I was hoping for.

Holy God NO!!!!!

Booked a move from Mass to Florida. My son explained items for sale to Eric the sales person. He quoted a price of around 3300. We thought the boxes sounded low and he said if we doubled the boxes, it could up the price around 500 dollars. He said if we brought a TV it would be about 60 dollars more. I was not sure on the bedroom furniture yet and he said it would only be 150 more. My son said do you think we will be less than 5000 in the end, and he said he didn't think we would be over 4000. He said if we added and removed stuff they would offset each other. Move was supposed to be on a tuesday or wednesday feb 3rd or 4th with preference for the 4th. On Monday they call to do the final list and we took away a 4 person couch and a large dining room table and 6 chairs. We did add some items but nothing that would be more than space of what was removed. They decide to quote us double the price finally coming down to 5700 dollars. That included an extra 250 for pushing the move to Feb 4th. They didn't actually give us a firm quote until 7pm on Feb 2nd so there was no way we could do the third. That clearly should be refunded. The 5,700 quoted 673 Cubic feet. When they finally delivered the stuff, his ipad at signoff showed 460 cubic feet and approx 2222 for the weight We would have taken pictures had we known they would hide that information. This was approxe half of what the weight on the estimate shows. My son has asked for refunds for the difference and company is stalling. Further and more important, there is clearly no way the original estimate was close to correct and they should honor the original estimate as the items added were the same or less than what got removed. This is pure bait and switch. Low price to get you and then ask for more with a non refundable deposit that they wont give back and the day before the move. My son specifically said to the sales guy Eric he was worried about reviews saying this. When my son texted him on it Feb 2nd telling him this was bait and switch and said call immediately, we NEVER heard from him again.

Well organized!

This move included my home set-up, along with the equipment I use for work. I mainly wanted it to handle without confusion. The crew that I booked arrived around 9 in the morning and didn’t turn it into a drawn-out situation. Things were set down where they belonged, and I could begin arranging my space right away. I did not have to go back and fix placements.
