Long-distance move from Paso Robles, CA to Whitewater, CO

WOW

Jesse was great to work with and helped me as a first time relocator and got me what I needed, fairly. The men who came with the truck that day were very kind, answered all my questions and helped me with whatever I needed. Stuff was packed well and they were extremely quick! I was so afraid of my highly expensive TV being damaged, but thankfully they provided a special tv box and the guys understood so they handled it with care. I will be using Safe Ship from now on.

Avoid if possible

I strongly, strongly advise against using Safe Ship Moving. It has been the worst moving experience I've ever had. I have been lied to on numerous occasions by both the sales team, the quality assurance team, and the customer service team. Every time I have spoken to an employee from Safe Ship, I have heard different information (about price estimates, pickup information, transportation information, drop-off estimates, etc.) and the stories keep changing. Do yourself a favor and avoid this moving company.

A couple of things to keep in mind before using Safe Ship:

1. The price estimate you receive during the booking process WILL increase dramatically, regardless of how well you are able to record your inventory ahead of time. Remember: the sales team is only trying to get you to commit to the move. Once you sign the contract, you are locked in and they can jack up the price on the day of the move. I meticulously measured and recorded every item I was shipping before receiving my estimate. In fact, by the time the day of the move came, I had actually gotten rid of a few large items on my moving inventory. Yet when the movers arrived, my total payment was increased by 30%. At that point, I really had no recourse to do anything: if I cancelled, I would lose my $1,000+ deposit and still have no mover contracted.

2. The transportation estimates you receive during the booking process, and even on the day of the move, are NOT going to be accurate. The sales team told me that they would get my property to my new destination within 5-14 business days, but this is *strictly* an estimate, meaning it can take much longer (up to 30 days before there are any penalties or legal issues). On the day of the move, I was asked when my "first available arrival date" would be, so I chose the earliest possible date: 5 business days. When I called in two weeks later to get a delivery update, I was told that the clock on the 5-14 business day estimate only begins after your "first available arrival date," meaning day 1 of the 30 day clock only began on the date I had listed.

3. My complaints (about the sales representative, repeated misinformation, etc.) have not been recorded. During what must have been my tenth call with customer service, I asked about a number of complaints I had filed and was told that none had been recorded. My guess is that customer service is told to simply let the customers vent but not actually send any complaints up the chain of command because management really isn't willing or able to do anything.

There have been more issues that I won't elaborate on here (I was misinformed about the pickup time, about necessary packing materials, and about the payment schedule), but suffice it to say that the move with Safe Ship has been an absolute nightmare. These moving services are a dime a dozen; go with another provider.

We are sorry your relocation did not go as expected, however Safe Ship Moving is the broker so we wouldn’t have been able to double your rates as we do not have authority to pick up items as a broker. We will launch an investigation with the with the carrier who handled your items to make sure your issues are addressed properly.

STILL waiting for info

DO NOT USE A SHIPPER IF MOVING!!We were given all kinds of assurances that our furniture would arrive on time and in good condition. When there was trouble with the pickup, we wanted to cancel but were told we would lose $1200.00 deposit. Should have canceled but was convinced by company that they would take care of everything. Long story short - items picked up 2/21/22 and to be delivered on 3/20/22. It is 5/18 and still no stuff! getting the run around daily. No one returns calls or email. They cannot, or will not, tell us where our things are, when we will get stuff. We are in our 70's, sleeping on an airbed and eating off paper plates and a borrowed card table. We packed as if it would be a month - my medical supplies are somewhere and insurance will not pay for more as I had 90 day supply. WE ARE LIVING THE NIGHTMARE!! PLEASE - if anyone has any ideas how to help, let us know. We are desperate. I am truly afraid of what increases they will charge us, condition of my stuff or if it will even arrive. We are on a fixed income and may not even be able to pay the extra fees I fear are coming. Learn from our pain

We are tremendously sorry your relocation experience with the Carrier was less than satisfactory. Every FMCSA Authorized Carrier we work with must be fully Licensed, Bonded and Insured. We consider reviews and complaints but heavily depend on our Customer's Personal Experience with Carriers. Upon further review It appears that your First Available Day for Delivery was the End of March, putting delivery a week and a half out of our Scheduled Timeframe. As we try to avoid and circumvent shipping delays at all costs, in the trucking and transport industry a lot of factors contribute to schedule variations. Truck breakdowns, accidents, traffic challenges, natural disasters, changes in carrier routes, severe weather, and staffing fluctuations in are just a few unusual reasons why your delivery can be delayed. Again, we truly are very sorry for the inconvenience. Due to your dissatisfactory experience with the Carrier, we have removed the Carrier from Dispatch Registry, Filed multiple Complaints on your behalf with the FMCSA, launched a Carrier Delinquency Investigation as well as Customer Satisfaction Ticket in an effort to rectify the situation and keep this from happening ever again. Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to address your concerns. A manager will be calling you shortly to assist further. We will use your feedback to identify training opportunities. Thank you.

READ THE REVIEWS

By far the worst customer service company in existence. In my opinion all of the 5 star reviews are bots or fake. From our initial quote, delivery timeframe, quality of movers, or cost - everything SafeShip told us was a lie. They promised direct delivery - ended up re-handling our shipment onto another truck and damaged all of our belongings. They promised us first floor free moving service - mover held us hostage on moving day saying 10 steps was more than a floor to the tune of $200 extra. Told us our shipment would be processed in 10 days or less - we have been waiting for over a month and some of our belongings were mistakenly delivered to another customer. Promised us enough space for our belongings - undersized our order and the movers demanded $650 day of or they would not complete the move. They are a broker only and do not take any responsibility other than robbing you. There is no wonder the only reviews are either 5 stars or 1 star. Take the 5 with a grain of salt. Read the 1 star reviews and whole-heartedly take them seriously. Find a direct shipper that you can have a relationship with - SafeShip are liars and thieves.

We are very sorry your moving experience with the Carrier was less than satisfactory. We can assure you that we vett every carrier thoroughly and would never do business with a Company that had a problem of this nature with any prior Customer. Any FMCSA Authorized Carrier we work with must be fully Licensed, Bonded and Insured. We consider reviews and complaints but heavily depend on our Customer's Personal Experience. The logistics involved for all our customers consists of numerous components and countless moving parts. The preliminary Estimate is just that, an Estimate. Moving is a stressful time and most people are simply incapable of remembering & identifying every single thing they plan on moving. Safe Ship would never increase a Price without increased services or Inventory. We can assure you that if a box was marked "FRAGILE" it absolutely would not have been dropped. I'm sure you can understand our confusion about damages as we did not pack your items. Due to your dissatisfactory experience with Safe Ship Moving, we have launched a Carrier Delinquency Investigation and a Customer Satisfaction Ticket in an effort to rectify the situation and keep this from happening ever again. Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to address your concerns.. We will use your feedback to identify training opportunities. Thank you.

Moving is Stressful - Thank you

I just graduated college and decided to move across the country to fulfill my dream job and I needed a professional moving team to help. I called Safe ship and they were able to get me an amazing price and understood that I am college student with not a lot of money. They arranged everything for me and when the movers arrived they packed my furniture really well and safe ship followed up with me throughout the whole process.

Terrible company, takes advantage of you

I do not recommend anyone using this service. They bait and switch you with their quotes. I gave them everything on my inventory list, accurate to the number of boxes and they quoted me $2200. Once they showed up to my place, they said I had way more than the quote says and I now owed $4700. I had to move that weekend so I had no choice. The customer service representatives kept promising my stuff was coming and it showed up very late and damaged. The movers showed complete lack of effort to take care of anything. All of my boxes were smashed, the fragile-labeled boxes were at the bottom of the stacks and smashed too. I was delivered 2 items of someone else's belongings. My furniture was scraped up badly and a lamp broken, clothes dirty from the boxes being torn open. All around this company has terrible communication and will do anything possible to get every penny out of you. DO NOT USE SAFE SHIP MOVING & READ EVERY LINE ON THE AGREEMENT--THEY TAKE NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY DAMAGES AND DO NOT HAVE TO STICK TO ANY DELIVERY WINDOW. THEY MISQUOTE YOU ON PURPOSE TO TAKE ADVANTAGE AND END UP CHARGING YOU 2X.

Long-distance move from Las Vegas, NV to Fountain Inn, SC

Scam & lie

When we initially contacted safe ship we were given a price of approximately $6000, which was the same cost for renting a 26’ uhaul truck. We figured going with safe ship was a better deal & we wouldn’t have to drive the truck across country & pay the high prices of gas. Then a few days later we got a call from another person at Safe Ship. He spoke to my husband about all we had & then tells us the price was going to be around $17,000. Mind you, we had already packed almost everything & sold a lot of our furniture. We asked how much it would be for them to pack kitchen items & were told $800 so we just packed everything ourselves. Then we get a call that packers were coming to pack the furniture that needed to be wrapped in blankets & they also shrink wrapped things. These people were contracted by Safe Ship. Then we get a call from the company that was packing the items. He told us the cost was now $19,000+. Then the truck shows up for them to load. Yet another sub contractor. Once everything was loaded into the truck we were told that it wasn’t as much as they estimated & was $17,000+. Ours was the 1st load in the truck & they had two other loads going in after ours. We were moving from NV to SC. The other loads were going to TX & FL. When the truck arrived with our furniture we got a call from the driver that our driveway was to long for his truck to pull in. Then he said it would cost another $300 because the workers he hired would have to carry everything from the road to the garage where we were storing everything until we moved in. We told him we would be there in a few minutes. When we got there we told him that he could make it up the driveway. He knocked over a tree when pulling in. Then he didn’t know how to back it out. The workers & all of us were trying to guide him out & he got stuck in mud so guys took stepping stones to put under tires to help him. He tore up that part of the yard. It was a total nightmare dealing with safe ship, especially since they never mentioned anything about subcontracting & lied about the cost. The person at Safe Ship that we initially dealt with was Blake. He told us that he was from the town we were moving to & his parents still lived there. I will say that the guys with the company that packed & loaded were very nice. Even the driver of the truck was nice, but screwed up our yard. However, non of them were worth over $17,000. Never ever would we recommend Safe Ship to anyone. Beware of Safe Ship & others like them. For a little more we could have had a regular moving company pack everything & ship it without all the headaches. Especially when you factor in the cost of buying the boxes, tape, paper, shrink wrap & labor.

AVOID AT ALL COST!!

The experience started off well enough with a rep named Brendan. Courteous and professional. However, I later found out that he didn't enter everything I told him and when I spoke to the next rep, Eric within days of the move, the rate almost doubled. Eric was totally unprofessional and a smart ass. We decided tomove another way, forfeiting the deposit of $900+. I should have read the reviews first as they seem to do a lot of the "used car salesman" bait and switch. Avoid the stress, headaches of dealing with this company.

Long-distance move from Charleston, SC to Birmingham, AL

Poor service

Do not book with Safe Ship Moving Company. They are brokers. They take your money and there’s no guarantees of what you’re going to get.

My son just became a doctor so for his graduation gift my husband and I were paying for professional movers to move his furniture from Charleston South Carolina to Birmingham Alabama. I looked online and came across Safe Ship Moving. For the most part the reviews were pretty good with a score of 4.2 so I booked them. They said I have 48 hours to cancel so before my 48 hours expired I decided to do another search on reviews on safe ship moving. I found lots of bad reviews so I called the company and spoke to Max to have their service canceled and get a full refund. Max assured me that it was just a few disgruntled customers that they are a very good company blah blah blah. He was very convincing so I did not cancel them. They gave me a binding moving estimate which I signed with the move date of 5-30-2022 or 5-31-2022. Max assured me that he would work closely with customer service and would make sure that I had a reputable moving company to move my son. A few days before the move their quality assurance company called and did a very thorough and accurate inventory list. This is what they based the final total cost on and said that it would not change as long as there wasn’t any additional inventory. The moving company did not show up as promised. After calling Safe Ship several times, they said the driver had broken down and that someone would come the next day. I received a call about 8am on June 1 from Tony at Top Quality Movers saying he was on the way. He arrived about 1 PM and looked at my sons furniture and said: this is going to require a full truck and we only have you down for 1/2 of a truck so it’s going to be 1200 extra dollars. The inventory had not changed so Safe Ship lied again. I told him he could go back where he came from and he said no he didn’t want to do that that he would negotiate and only charge us an additional 600 so we didn’t really have a choice because we didn’t have a Plan B. We paid the extra 600. Tony and Eric were excellent. They were professional and packed my sons furniture carefully and loaded it.

We wanted the furniture delivered the next day. According to our contract, the only way to guarantee that was to pay expedited shipping which was $1 per mile. I was going to do that but Michelle in Customer Service said that wouldn't be necessary because 70% get there the same day and 90% get there the next day. I took her at her word but Tony said they had 7 days to deliver the furniture. That's what the contract said but I relied on the information that Customer Service gave me. My son received his furniture on June 7 which was within the 7 days. The other 2 men were not as good as Tony and Eric. They dropped several boxes and 2 items were broken. Safe Ship told me that the furniture was insured for $10,000 but that wasn't true. They only insure it for 60 cents per pound.

Safe ship moving company made lots of promises that they did not keep. They are not honest, not reliable, did not give an accurate quote. Do not book with them no matter what they say.

It’s a scam

Beware. Not only do they contract with moving companies but they quote you as low as possible and then your number skyrockets saying you have Bily furniture or hard to stack stuff, etc. basically they don’t get enough real information and you as the consumer get stuck with the bill. My quote doubled when the real movers got there - from 11k to 22k. I’ve have had a horrible experience with this company as they take your deposit (for me 5k).

To me it was a huge scam where you are not considered. Stick with a local place or someone who is actually doing the move.
