DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!

This company is a total sham! In addition to what the other reviews say about it being a broker and the price doubling at pick up, they also completely screwed us on our timeline. We were quoted 14 days for a cross country move. It will be 6 WEEKS by the time our stuff arrives (yes, it’s still not here but we just finally received word from the company they jobbed it out to that our stuff will arrive at the end if this week.) 6 weeks with 2 kids and no stuff! Insanity

Long distance move

Broker that charged me $4000 to find a moverwhich I could have done myself. My cost of moving went up $5000 from estimate, they did a poor job in estimating what was being moved The moving company could not fit all my items on my truck, and was delayed 5 hours in starting to load. I was guaranteedto have my furniture on a specific day, it was a day late. They give you 2 days that they will pick up so you don't really know. I had to continually call the company to find out what was going on. Horrible experience, would NEVER use or recommend them. Wish I had read the other reviews before I used this company.

Hello Allison, I would like to thank you for choosing Safe Ship Moving Services for your moving needs. I have read your review and would like to sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you for the carriers' moving crew not showing up. Realizing that this a major error with the carrier, we discussed multiple ways to not allow something like this to happen again. Hi, Melissa, I'm sorry you had a bad experience with safe ship. Although we make every effort to contact every customer who calls, sometimes a phone call falls through the cracks or a message is garbled. I can assure you we are decent, hardworking people who cares about providing good service to our customers.

DO NOT USE SAFE SHIP

My husband and I have moved cross country multiple times and even rented our own uhaul boxes. We used safe ship to move just 180 miles and it has been the biggest nightmare. Everything they said has been a complete lie and we have yet to even leave our current apartment to move four days past our first confirmed moving day. They first told us on the phone that since we’re going such a short distance that it would be a same day or next day delivery. Then when they said they were coming to pick up our stuff that it could be a week and if we wanted it any sooner we would have to pay a dollar per mile. We said fine, we’d pay it even though this was never told to us. Then they said well if you want it expedited we can’t pick it up anymore today we will come tomorrow. So then we had the next day booked. Well the next day rolls around and turns out they cant do that day either and they push it again to the following day. Then the next day rolls around and they are now telling us the SAME THING. I tell them “if I had known it would take four days to even pick our stuff up then we would have never asked to get it expedited.” And they tell me I should be lucky because they have some people who have been waiting 29 business days and still haven’t gotten their items delivered. We now are four days past our moving day and are just praying they’re even showing up still. USE ANYONE ELSE OR JUST MOVE YOURSELF. THEY ARE HORRIBLE.

Worst in taking responsibility

We moved from salt lake to Alpharetta. They will leave no chance to get you booked saying the best in moving industry and they have best rating and competitive price in the location. I told them like 20 times not to miss pick up date giving them 2 different dates which was 3 days before the travel date but still they missed both the dates and came on the travel day to pick up and ended up almost missing our flight.

They got the things on time but damaged our sofa sets, bookshelves and lost band gave themy not covering them while transporting. Also instead of blanket they got the paper sheets to cover the remaining furnitures, luckily we packed our tv ourself with complete protection.

At the time of booking they also said they will be sending min 2 men to pick up stuff but only 1 person came which took 4 hours to clear the house where as it would have taken just 2 hours or less. Also he did not disassemble anything saying he doesnt know to do that.

It was so frustrating that they took money saying they are the best with so many things in the list but ended up doing just the opposite of what they said - missed 2 pick up dates, no blanket packaging, no disessemble service, no track on where the package is after pick up and just 1 man to pick up

But even after the drop off they misguided us purposefully to claim the lost and damaged goods by redirecting us to some CSI claiming service where they said the claims will be settles in 120 days and to be patient. It took hours to sit and upload all picks and they need atleast 3 pics with every discription of damage and the model number, price, color size etc of the items. After 2 months I received an email saying the claim was closed as the Safe ship moving company contract expired with the carrier which is North America LLC(which is a non rated movers and the Safe shipping wont give you the carrier name until the last moment).

They literally took all chance to cheat the customers just for booking money. Now they just gave the carrier number and said to contact the carrier itself as Safe ship moving LLC never touched our goods and they aren't responsible for anything. They said to read the contract which stated Safe ship is not responsible for anything. Worst company. I do not recommend this unprofessional movers. The only good thing is the customer service will pick up the phone. Even though u end up getting frustrated about their service at every stage.

Very pushy

I would never use a company that badgers you all day with repeated phone calls, text messages and emails. I filled out an online form that promised a quote if I submitted a simple form. As soon as I hit "enter" my phone started blowing up. After repeated requests to stop calling and texting I finally had to block them. If you have to pressure someone to use your company, they probably aren't very good.

Hello Jody, We are sorry your relocation with the carrier was less than satisfactory. We evaluate every carrier using previous customer experiences. Every carrier we work with must be fully licensed, bonded and insured. Due to your dissatisfactory experience with the carrier ,we have stop doing business with them and also have filed a complaint with the FMCSA and launched a seperate carrier delinquency ticket in an effort to rectify the situation and to keep this from ever happening again.

Price cheating

I have recent using Safe Ship Moving Services, it is good at beginning but after the deposit $965 was paid the attitude was changed. The customer should know Safe Ship Moving Services is not a real moving company. it is just a broker! During picking up the previous price is changed from $705 to $1700 for the 2nd payment. after negotiating I felt that agent from Safe Ship Moving Services was not in my side and she cooperate with the local mover Luxury moving company to force me accept high price during picking up. it was a very bad experience. Do not believe Safe Ship Moving Services contract price!

Late shipment and broken/missing items

DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE. They tell you within 10 days delivery of your items but they are lying and only deliver after 30 days. They take your money and then when you try to get a hold of them it is so hard and they never call back! They are a rip off company and customer service is terrible. You should just drive your own stuff!

Move size: 1 Bedroom Home Service cost: $2000

Official company response

Sahana, we are tremendously sorry your relocation experience with the carrier was less than adequate.Safe Ship Moving services is a moving broker, we charge a fee (deposit) for finding a moving company (carrier) to move your items. This fee is for arranging for a fully licensed, bonded, and insured motor carrier to move and handle your household items. When you refer to your quote increase you are referring to the carrier fee. Upon arrival the carrier charges a seperate fee for the pickup, delivery and transportation of items. The first half is due upon pickup and second half due upon delivery of your household goods at the intended destination address. Safe Ship Moving Services does not participate in the collection of carrier payment nor do we share in the proceeds of carrier charges. Once your payment is processed with us (required deposit amount) we will immediately have our dispatch department initiate the process of locating a licensed and insured carrier to transport your household goods.

Criminal Company

Short version - They made multiple mistakes, hired criminals to move (steal) our stuff, owned up to their mistakes, promised to partially refund my money (never did), and lied to the Better Business Bureau about the situation without providing evidence of their false claims. It happened to me, it can happen to you.

Extended version - I specifically asked for the contract to include a full 26-foot truck. They took an inventory of my items and wrote the contract for the cubic feet based on the inventory (not to include the additional boxes that will be needed). They assured me the contract included a 26-foot truck which is audio recorded and confirmed by Michelle Rodriguez and the Office Manager. I also paid extra for the Premium Packing package. They hired Your Way Movers, LLC to do the job for them. This LLC turns out to be a criminal company. They took 10.5 hours to complete the job, broke multiple items, did not pack or protect any items other than items found in the kitchen, and stole multiple items as well. This LLC did not mention any concerns about the contract until the truck was full and then demanded me pay them additional money since the contract was written only noting the cubic feet from the inventory list (not including boxes). I expressed concern and discomfort with the situation but Safe Ship advised me to sign the documentation agreeing to pay additional money with the idea that we would problem-solve this matter before delivery. I again expressed my concern and discomfort with the situation but Safe Ship advised me to pay additional money to the criminal LLC to have my items delivered and I would be offered a rebate/refund to compensate for the errors made by Safe Ship. The difference between what I asked the contract to include and what I ended up needing to pay extra was $2,064.19 and the Premium Packing package that the criminal LLC did not adhere to was an additional $1,276. Totaling $3,340.19 of faulty contracting and undelivered services (packing). After a month and a half of back-and-forth with customer service, I was offered a $445 rebate by Michelle Rodriguez and the Office Manager, which they said I should receive after I provide them my evidence (pictures, etc) of damaged goods/items so that they could file a report/claim against the criminal LLC and promised to initiate a claim for me against the LLC as well which I would need to confirm and submit myself. I expressed concern and discomfort with only receiving $445 back after explicitly asking for a full 26-foot truck and expressing discomfort about their advice to sign contracts for additional money the entire time and still not receiving the full services I paid for. They said they would continue to work on my case to see if they can get approved for a higher rebate once they receive my evidence against the LLC. I gave them the evidence, they filed claims on their behalf and I haven't heard back from them since. It has now been almost 2 months that they have been ignoring my calls and not responding to emails. I have not received any rebate of any kind. I contacted Better Business Bureau about these concerns and they said "we have completed our contractual obligations to you" "Safe Ship Customer Service has been in contact with you every step of the way as thoroughly noted in your Customer file" and "Your inventory and article list more than doubled." I rejected their response as there is no evidence of customer service being in contact with me after they were provided the pictures to file claims against the LLC to protect their company, I paid for services I did not receive (packing) and I expressed concern about the contracts the entire way through while I was continually advised to keep signing to pay more money, and the contract with the inventory list was written for 1277 cf while a 26-foot truck holds approximately 1700 cf which means that it would be impossible for the 26-foot truck to carry double my inventory list (2554 cf) if that were the case. I asked Safe Ship to again refund/rebate my money and to provide evidence of their false claims/lies to the Better Business Bureau and I have yet to see any action from their end.

Would Not Recommend

Let me start by saying, this was my first time using a moving company. Even though I provided Safe Ship with a detailed list of everything that would need moved, the space they reserved me on the truck wasn't enough, so I had to pay extra (~$850) on pick-up day to get more space. They also didn't tell me the pick-up/delivery would be contracted out to a small, independent moving company; this was something I found out later. I get that this is something stated on their website, but as a first time user of these services, I would've liked to be told this when I signed a contract with them. I was also given a delivery window of 1-10 days when I signed. My stuff was picked up on 11/25/22 and that was the last I heard from the moving company until 12/14/22. I called, emailed, and texted the information provided to me at pick-up and nobody answered or returned my messages. I had to call Safe Ship directly, and even they couldn't provide me with information on my delivery. When I was finally told my stuff would be delivered, it was day 15 (since they don't count weekends). At this point, I'd been sleeping on an air mattress for almost 3 weeks. I was told my things would be delivered 12/16/22 around 12pm. I cancelled my plans with my mom, who was visiting from IL, so we could be around for the delivery. At 3pm, I had to call because I hadn't heard anything, and I was told delivery would be pushed back to 6pm. We ended up agreeing on an 8pm delivery time due to an event I needed to attend at 6. By 9:45pm, I still hadn't heard anything, so I called but nobody answered. I spoke with Safe Ship and they couldn't get in touch with the delivery driver either. My stuff was finally delivered on 12/17/22 around 9:30am. Things were broken/unusable and needed replaced. For all of my troubles and their lack of communication, they gave me $100 off. $100 off a roughly $3000 move, which was more than I was quoted... super helpful. For what it's worth, Safe Ship tried to be helpful by reaching out to the moving company themselves, but this experience was a 0/10. There was a serious lack of communication, they did not stick to the delivery window, they made me waste an entire day with my mom while we waited for a delivery that didn't happen, and the only time I received updates was when I reached out myself. I would not use them again.

Most horrible experience

This is the most horrible company!!! They use 3rd party "people" not companies to move your things. From the beginning, I was given a total and paid the deposit. I was moving things about 600 miles one way. The people knew the distance when they agreed to pick up the items. I was told I would be given a 24-hour notice. I got a call at 10 am and was told they would be there by 4 pm, which I could not get off work. I asked if there was another option. The guy I was talking with was very rude and disrespectful. He told me he would take my things and bring them the next time he was in the area. My things went from Ohio to Georgia and I am in NC. There is no way to track the items. I was told there would be an additional charge at pick up for gas and for packing the truck, which was already charged in the contract. When my card was charged there was an additional cost of $1,000 and never got a receipt from pick up or drop off. When I finally got my items, they thought they were going to just drop off my items in the living room. When I agreed to the initial contract, I was told that they would unload and place items in appropriate locations. My 13-year-old son had to help them put things together. Then they left all their trash on my front porch. They asked if we wanted them to take their trash and we said yes. They left if all on the front porch. I called safe ship over 10 times and NEVER got a phone call back after they kept saying they would look into it. To this day, I have not heard from them. They were going to call the driver and ask about the invoice. The driver never answered the phone. This is the worse company. If I would have known all this, I could have saved a lot of money and headache by getting a UHAUL and moving myself. I thought this would ease the pain considering I was mourning a death in my family, which is why I had items moved. I do not recommend this company AT ALL!!!!

Absolute fraud

I thought it was just me but apparently not. We had made an estimate, it was 4K initially. The week of, we were told to overestimate instead of underestimate the space we would use. Then, if we used less space, we would get our money back on space not used, since the company told us to overestimate. Turns out, doesn’t matter how much space you safe, you’re paying the estimate. Bud really cheated us out of our money based on this. I’m wondering if there’s an open class action lawsuit regarding this because I’ve seen similar issue for this company on every site. Hoping the company does right by me and at least refunds my security deposit. I would have cancelled if I knew how dishonest it would’ve been.

TERRIBLE FOR LONG DISTANCE MOVE

The fact my estimate was half the price than most other moving companies should have been my 1st red flag. But the gentleman that did my estimate explained their process a little so it made sense and sold it to me as I’d be supporting Veterans by using their services. I was very detailed in my estimate letting them know ALL of my big items, about how many boxes/bins I had, exactly how big my storage unit was, etc. THE ENTIRE PROCESS AFTER THIS WAS TERRIBLE!! When you schedule your move, you have the date you WANT and they require the very next day to be your “back up day” which I was told was only for unforeseen circumstances like weather emergencies or transportation emergencies etc. Fast forward to closer to move day, they decide they are going to do it on my “back up day” rather than the day I scheduled for with no valid reason. When I said that wouldn’t work for me and that I’d have to push it out a week later because of that, then all the sudden dispatch tells me they’ve had a “change of heart” and will do it the day I scheduled it for. Then pick up day comes-they contracted my move out to Geo Van Lines, a company that isn’t even BBB accredited who then tried to charge me $1800 at pickup rather than the $887 I was given at my estimate saying I had “extra items” that weren’t accounted for in the estimate and that I took up more space than my estimate was for. Mind you I also had paid for packing in my estimate for any items that weren’t in a box like my TV and some mirrors/pics etc. I DID NOT HAVE ADDITIONAL ITEMS. Because some of my items were in bins and not “boxes” and they only put “boxes” on the estimate, they tried to get more money from me. I argued with the manager of Geo van lines and he stated they did over charge and he would correct but that I still took up more space than estimated etc. I had to pay $1500 at pick up instead of the $887. I reluctantly paid the manager the $1500 via Zelle through my Chase banking app with him on the phone so I could verify in real time that he received my payment which he confirmed on the phone. He said, give me 24-48 hours and I’ll let you know when it will be delivered. 2 days later the same manager calls me at almost 7pm and tried to tell me he never received my $1500 payment and that my bank put a hold on it. I called my bank the next day and they said no, it was paid in real time when I made the payment on the phone because that’s what Zelle is, etc. I called the manager and told him and he said “oh ok, well I’ll talk to my bank.” Still no word on delivery date. I call a couple days later asking for an update on when my property will be delivered and he tells me he forgot to call me to notify that their truck broke down and they have to wait another couple days for another truck. About 5 days later I get a call that my things will be delivered the following day. When the movers arrive, yet another independent mover that is not Geo Van Lines, they have the incorrect numbers/data and are trying to charge me over $1000 at delivery rather than the $892 that my updated Bill of Lading states. Of course the mover at my delivery can’t fix it so I have to call Geo Van Lines-no answer. I had to call customer service for SafeShipping and they didn’t even have the updated Bill of Lading from Geo Van Lines. I had to send it to them and they still tried to tell me I was wrong even though it was literally an official signed contract I had with them stating what I said. GEO VAN LINES= UNPROFESSIONAL! It took almost 45 minutes and me telling them I even had screen shots from text messages from the manager admitting they overcharged and he was adjusting the amount as well as the proof of payments at pickup. Eventually that gets fixed and they start unloading….only to find they lost my box spring for my bed, one of my boxes of delicate items that was labeled as such-all the items were broken inside, and I’m missing a bunch of other random items. I haven’t even attempted to get reimbursed for it knowing how difficult of a process it will be given how everything else went. Everything about this process was a nightmare and kept me up at night several times. I would never use them again nor recommend to anyone! The only positive thing I have to say is the two gentlemen who delivered my items were kind and patient and efficient.

Great at first, then no communication

Moving broker, when things went VERY wrong with the movers they assigned (MC Movers), I was told I could only submit a complaint via email, which I did, but never received a response.

Safe Ship estimated very low, movers charged $2k more.

Read your contract VERY carefully, as you can not pack items in your dresser drawers etc. EVERYTHING must be packed in boxes, including yard items, hoses, rackes etc.

Then your items are moved from truck to truck to truck. Mine changed trucks /drivers 3 or 4 different times which of course lead to broken furniture and lost items.

Final delivery driver was very rude, and again, Safe Ship will do NOTHING to help you file a claim. They will not even acknowledge your complaints about Safe ship.

Over all - extremely disappointed.

I will never recommend this company to anyone. They jack up the cost despite the initial cost quoted. As a broker, they subcontract to local companies who hire out. Moving

This was the worst moving company I have ever dealt with and I have moved around 7 times now. Safe Ship was the most unprofessional company that changed the dates they would move me 3 separate times, charged an extra $1, 500 the day of moving for “not enough space on the truck and items were too heavy” even though we were under the amount of things that we told them we had. The movers made us pay an extra ,$1,200 in cash the day of randomly and said if we didn’t they would not take our stuff. The movers also did not even move everything into the house as they set our headboards for the beds outside and just left. The “customer service” also told us at first they would not ship our stuff out until 2 weeks later than was agreed upon and told us they would only move it when we originally talked about for an extra $300 and we had no other option but to do that as it was 2 days prior to when we had to move that they told us that. Do not ever use this moving company unless you want to pay an insane amount of money last minute and also not have all of your stuff taken as well as damaged.

NEVER Select this 3rd Party Poor Excuse of Business

I am elated to have been given an opportunity to write a review about Safeship moving. I would NEVER recommend them! Do NOT go through a third party when moving. Go straight to the source! I was given misinformation and certain things were NEVER disclosed to me! I submitted my order on December 14th. My belongings were picked up from my storage unit on December 18th JUST to now be sitting in some warehouse! I requested my belongings to be DELIVERED on January 4th! I was notified on December 28th by a random email from "customer service" that my movers have 7-21 days PAST my first date of delivery (January 4th) to deliver my things to me. NO ONE EVER DISCLOSED THIS TO ME! I would have been better off purchasing a flight, flying across country, renting a U haul, and driving my belongings back across country! It would have saved me a LOT of money AND time! It is now January 10th and I have NO ETA on when my things will be here! I am living in an empty house with nothing!

4. Mover charge and additional 35% above the final quoted price. This dollar figure was 225% of the original lowball quote over the phone.

5. Mover refused to take our hot tub which was the whole reason we contracted through them. I had to get a trailer and drive 1300 miles to move it myself.

I would give ZERO stars if I could

Do NOT use Safe Ship. Learn from my horrible experience and find a different moving company. The initial quote seemed amazing and a representative helped me with it all over the phone. They said it was very rare for the price to go up upon pick up because the overestimate the space needed. Then after committing and paying a deposit we received a call a few days before pick up and guess what, the price had increased when we added “most commonly forgotten items”. This should be a list they go over with at the time of quote not 2 days before pick up. So we had to pay an additional deposit for the added space. It only gets worse from here. Upon pick up they walked through and said it would all fit on the truck.. it did not, only half our stuff did. Long story short they had to make 2 trips and our price more than doubled from the original quote. To make matters worse, the customer service representatives are rude and unapologetic. We were told we could just leave our items there if we didn’t want to pay more. When I expressed my frustration to them for underestimating our space I was fed the same line over and over; “we can’t account for large and bulking items”. So even when you tell them exactly what you have to move which include large and bulky items (which I did) they do not account for the space on the truck. The moving team that was sent to us had ZERO respect for our property and many items were damaged and broken including my 5 month old daughter’s crib that was literally shattered. They also delivered our second truck at 10pm at night. We had to make arrangements for myself and my two young daughters to sleep somewhere else because we were told they would not come back if we couldn’t accept our items at that time. The amount of disregard they have for you once they have your money is disgusting. I have no clue how they are rated the top moving broker. Save yourself the stress and your money and stay clear of this company.

Long-distance move from Saint Francis, ME to Oklahoma City, OK

Don’t use them you will be scammed

Tim Leni quoted me for $3,500 for my move and we spoke about everything in great detail that I would move ! He assured me on the phone that this would be the price because he does this everyday ! This was a lie and I’m sure the company knows this but they don’t care because regardless they have already collected their piece of money by the time you find out the price changes !!!! This company takes their chunk up front of what they make from the deal because they are brokers and when the movers got to my place it cost over $8,000. They don’t care that they low ball you initially to get you locked in because their money for the move is secured already from day one of signing on !!!! After they get their money they are done made their quick $2k from simply lying!!!! I’m sure there is a million excuses this company can say but just know you can give the most detailed list and your cubic feet estimate will be way off than pick up cost and there won’t be anything you can do about it cause guess what you won’t know until last minute when the movers show up ! I advise anyone to not use them and to go directly through movers not these lying behind people !!!!

Long-distance move from New York, NY to Spring, TX

Very disappointed

I had a great conversation with Mitch and gave me an estimated amount for my move since i called more than 4 months in advance. When the moving people arrived they charged me double what I was told. My moving arrived late. I am still missing a ladder, the screws for my reclining chair still missing and my kid's drawer was all messed up. I've been calling and they've been ignoring me and no one has offered me a solution. Very disappointed!
