Long-distance move from Connecticut to Massachusetts

Disturbing Experience

We hired safe ship moving to transport and store our belongings from July and then deliver in early September. We sent a full, detailed inventory in order to get a fair estimate. The moving company initially gave us a window of noon until 3:00 PM but failed to show until 9:20 PM. By that point we had moved everything to the curb ourselves to expedite packing. The movers estimated a 6 hour window to pack the truck but with our help they were able to finish in 3 hours. They did not give us the sheet with all of the inventory and extra items until after they loaded up the truck, and then at 12:30 am, they asked me to sign the totally illegible paper listing our “extra items” and pay an extra $1,600 on the spot without a clear explanation of the price increase, or else they wouldn’t take our items that were already in the truck. We were so exhausted we felt forced and harassed into signing.

The next business day I called safe ship to find out what happened. They promised to look into this and shared my concern that I was being taken advantage of. They promised to call me back within a few days. It’s now been over a week and I still have not heard anything to resolve this issue. To say I am disappointed with safe ship is an understatement. It seems they wildly underestimate the cost to get you to sign with them and then the price somehow increases by 50%. They don’t stand by their movers and they don’t seem to care about us once the job is complete. I would not recommend using them in the future.

Terrible Experience

Long Distance moving from Vermont to Florida. Absolutely horrible experience through Safeship with Derek Jones doing the cost estimation. First I was finalized for 3400$. But on the day of final moving, LuxeryVan Lines LLC was the one who did the actual moving, that means Safeship is just a Broker. A person named Ibub from LuxeryVan increased the cost to 9000$ which is 3 times more than the original quote. On the day of delivery, we are charged again 600$ to unload all my stuff into the apartment. Half of my household stuff like dining table, queen bed were broken and the boxes are opened. The bolts for both the queen beds are missing and both of my therapedic memory foam mattress are completely destroyed. Dining table is broken very badly. Leather sofa was scratched and legs are half broken. Safeship don’t care to return my calls. All I can mention is that SafeShip movers and LuxeryVan Lines LLC are totally Fraud movers.

Misled

I hired Safe Ship after being told it was Veteran's owned and operated. They did not tell me they contracted out the actual moving. This was my first experience with professional movers, call me naive. The company Safe Ship contracted with was terrible. I have a claim pending but don't expect much. I hold Safe Ship responsible though they won't hold themselves accountable. They made their money up front. My possessions were lost, stolen, or damaged. I paid thousands more than was quoted because of poor packing. My grandson would have done a better job!

Thanks, Safe Ship, because of you, I will never hire another "moving service" unless I see their name on the truck. You are a sham. You give "Veteran owned and operated" the worst possible reputation. HIRE SOMEONE ELSE and do the research. Wish I had!!

HI Tawny, thank you for reaching out. It is stated on the home page of our website in the top right corner and it is stated 3 times in the contract that you signed that we are a licensed moving broker.

Long-distance move from Atwater, CA to Caney, OK

Very disappointed

I regret that we answered the call from the sales rep and were sucked in by what appeared to be a very reasonable quote. Of course it sounded too good to be true, because it was. We should've read the reviews first, as we had a very similar unsatisfying experience as the other low reviewers.

We spoke to a lovely sales rep who came across as very friendly and knowledgeable. However, the quote provided for the very specific list of items that we made sure to stick to, as we read the reviews after the call, was inaccurate and unrealistic. In fact the two stars are actually for Barahona's movers, Safe Ship gets nothing.

The estimate was for 790 cu ft, which was basically half of the empty truck that arrived at our house. With movers that had no other jobs scheduled for that day. And it just so happened that was just enough for half of the items quoted. And, we had received half off the quote for accepting while we were on the call. Absolute rip off. Clearly the plan was to make back the other half by charging us double to take the rest of our items, fill the empty truck, and make back the other half of the quote.

By my estimation, we should have been quoted closer to 1,500 cu ft, which would have filled the truck with everything on the agreed upon list of items. It was a 1,500 sq ft home.

So, my advice would be to either sell all your stuff and start again. Move your stuff yourself. Or, get a quote at a ratio of 1:1, and beat them at their own game. Good luck people! (I look forward to reading the owners excuse for this one).

Disappointed Long-distance move from IL - AZ

First time using this company AND LAST Time!!

It's a scam they quote you for everything give you discounts but then when the trucks arrive they want to charge extra for everything so with my discounts that I received I ended up paying more on top of that. Time of arrival was not correct I couldn't receive anything until the 23rd they text that we will receive on the 21st then try to argue with me that I said the 18th. So disappointed!! I was to put items in boxes the furniture would be wrapped for no extra charge WRONG. Knowing it's a residential area and knowing semi's are usually not allowed it arrived on a semi. Had to rent a smaller truck to get it delivered from down the street about 100 steps away that cost was $350. The companies that the Drivers work for however were a god sent (pick-up and delivery), they worked hard and walked us thru everything in a kind manner, from taking down the furniture to putting it all back together.

However on arrival drivers were not even told that they need to put the furniture together. Unbelievably disappointed!

Review of my dealings with safe ship

I booked with safe ship moving services back in August. They set me up with a great moving team and I am glad that I found them. It is a great relief to be in my new home in TX surrounded by my family and belongings again. If you have special needs for your move call safe ship they will design the move to fit your needs. Not only did they do an amazing job at pickup they split my payments into three payments and gave me thirty days of storage while I looked for my forever home in Texas. From one Veteran to another, Thank you to all the men and women that helped my family. 5 star moving experience for sure.

Long-distance move from Chicago, IL to San Jose, CA

You get what you pay for.

I can say without a doubt that booking my move through Safe Ship Moving was the largest mistake I made when coordinating my cross-country move. After getting estimates from major, reputable carriers, I received an estimate from Safe Ship that was significantly cheaper. Given that I wasn’t moving that much stuff, and promises (which I later learned to be outright lies) of Bruce over the phone, I decided to go with Safe Ship. If I was smarter I would have noticed all of the red flags at the moment and not when thinking about the situation/reading federal regulations later.

Red flag #1: Payment method. Paying the broker fee could be paid via debit card, but actual moving fees had to be paid in cash, postal money order, or Venmo. So, no way to reclaim funds if something goes wrong. The US DOT Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Household Goods Program actually specifically says not to use companies that require this. If only I had researched better.

Red flag #2: High-pressure sales. He kept saying “yes I have this exact amount of space available on a truck but you have to reserve today because space is limited. Yes we have a truck going there” etc. As you’re about to see, there was never a truck. And in fact, the estimate of needed space was very wrong.

Red flag #3: Safe Ship does not list the movers/carriers they do business with on their website. This is actually a requirement of the FMCSA and I have submitted a complaint to them about this.

Despite providing a detailed list of everything we would be moving, when the actual movers arrived the cost jumped by nearly $2000 because the estimate was about half of what it cost.

The company our move was sold to, Arena Van Lines, clearly had no intention of actually delivering our move. We were repeatedly told they did not have a truck, did not have a driver, etc. After 6 weeks of our belongings being in storage, we had to arrange to have them re-delivered at the origin city so that we could move them ourselves. I cannot comment on the rest of that due to pending legal action.

I attempted to have Safe Ship assist on our behalf during this entire process, and with each phone call, I spoke with Princess who was exceptionally rude and made it clear that Safe Ship had no interest in our move once they were paid.

Before you book a move with anyone, make sure you have read everything you can from the FMCSA website and know your rights. Learning and knowing our rights is the only reason we were able to recover our belongings.

It worked out, but not a great experience

Poor communication after very pushy to book. In the future I wouldn’t use a broker as the moving company they paired me with had hundreds of 1-2 star reviews, and only told me the name of the company an hour before they were due to arrive which took away any options I might have had to discuss these concerns and put me in a corner of using the company or being stranded. It’s easy to do the smallest bit of due diligence. Seemingly in violation of contract they didn’t mention insurance options to me on booking, just hoped I wouldn’t read the contract and would sign away my right to full replacement. The person I worked with from safe ship told me to reach out any time but when I did reach out either did not respond or forwarded my emails to customer service who responded with generic form letters. Ultimately my things did arrive in fairly good condition but it seems more like luck than good company. I would skip this company in the future and just hire accredited movers with good reviews since it’s clear safe ship doesn’t care to do due diligence on past performance or reviews of movers they hire. You may have a good experience or a very bad one but I wouldn’t leave it up to chance

They are anything but a "safe ship"!

I used this company in June 2022, moving from one state to another. I got to small of a truck and needed them to finish what I couldn't fit. Estimated cost wasn't to bad and they have you pay a third as a deposit, a third at pickup(cash), and the final at drop off, (also cash). Well they contract out and these guys wanted over twice as much after they had most of the stuff on, because it was more then estimated, to which I strongly doubted. Three weeks of calling Safe Ship to find out that they had no idea where my stuff was, and would get back to me the next day( they never did). So I started calling the contractor on my receipt who promptly said "we were waiting for you to call because you didn't pay my driver enough when he made the pick up". I said that I paid whay he said to pay. I had to send the balance of pick up before they would begin to deliver it. Mind you, this is almost a month since pickup. I had to come up with the rest,( a lot) before delivery. So 4 days after all that comes these guys, obviously different people and different truck. Unloading my stuff on a dolly, and I plainly see fragile on the bottom of the stack!! So, ahain, obviously I have a box full of broken stuff. And missing stuff!! I tried to at least get my money back from Safe Ship because the rest was cash and they fought my credit card dispute. Safe Ship said they would fight it because I didn't call and tell them. They don't know what's going on! Some of my missing and broken stuff I have had for many, many years!! It says no exaggerations in your review and there is absolutely zero here!! I would give a negative 5 if possible! It really hurt my pocketbook!!

We are sorry your relocation experience with the Carrier was less than satisfactory. We can assure you that we vet every carrier thoroughly and would never do business with a Company that had a problem of this nature with any prior Customer. Every Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration authorized carrier we work with must be fully Licensed, Bonded and Insured. We consider reviews and complaints but heavily depend on our Customer's Personal Experience with Carriers. Due to your dissatisfactory experience with the carrier, we have removed the Carrier from Dispatch Registry, filed multiple Complaints on your behalf with the FMCSA, launched a Carrier Delinquency Investigation as well as Customer Satisfaction Ticket in an effort to rectify the situation and keep this from happening ever again. As it may be too late reconciled, I wanted to you know that we have used your experience within our customer satisfaction process to be sure we don't make this mistake again.

They are not a good shipping company, go elsewhere

They did not quote us correctly (after going through our home goods 3 different times) and sent a carrier that charged us an additional $4,000 to move our household. Not only were they late, but spent 12 hrs. packing. The warehouse where we are our goods are being stored also charge us 3X's as much as Safe Ship quoted us. When we finally get our goods we will have paid $7,000 more then they quoted us. If we knew we would have had to pay this much we would have gone elsewhere. When we tried to contact them to get it straightened out they will not return our calls. DO NOT USE SAFE SHIP

We are immensely sorry about your relocation experience with the carrier that we provided for you. Safe Ship Moving services is a moving , we charge a fee (deposit) for finding a moving company (carrier) to move your items. This fee is for arranging for a fully licensed, bonded, and insured motor carrier to move and handle your household items. When you refer to your quote increase you are referring to the carrier fee. Upon arrival the carrier charges a seperate fee for the pickup, delivery and transportation of items. The first half is due upon pickup and second half due upon delivery of your household goods at the intended destination address. Safe Ship Moving Services does not participate in the collection of carrier payment nor do we share in the proceeds of carrier charges. Once your payment is processed with us (required deposit amount) we will immediately have our dispatch department initiate the process of locating a licensed and insured carrier to transport your household goods.

Thank you kindly for taking the time to share the experience of relocating with Safe Ship Moving Services

Horrible Experience!

I had an absolutely horrible experience working with safe ship. First of all, when we were given the estimate, they did not tell us that they were a moving BROKER and not the one doing the move. After booking, a random moving company that we knew nothing about (Primavera Movers) showed up to our home. It started with the company increasing our original estimate by $2,000 AFTER loading all of our belongings on the moving truck which is against the law. They then went on to try to scam us out of $600+ dollars for "extra material" costs that we did not approve or agree to. I spent 3 hrs on the phone with them and the moving broker just for them to take only $300 off and say they would work on the rest which they never did. We were given a delivery estimate of 1 to 10 business days and they showed up over a month later (26 business days). We called them numerous times and they wouldn't even answer the phone. No one would speak to us. And when I would email them, they would only give a generic response about a 21 business day time limit that they have per the law, but then proceeded to take even longer than that. I sat in an empty home for over 1 month. Safe Ship did nothing to help this situation. In fact, every customer service representative was very rude and acted as if I was bothering them when I called to see how I could get my belongings. One person in particular, Rachel, who is supposed to be the manager told me that she could tell the movers to use delivery people who would break my things if that would make me happy and if I didn't want that then I should just stop calling to ask them where my belongings were. After a month of going through this we spoke with a higher up manager named Max who seemed to be angry at the situation at first, but then just stopped answering our calls or helping us in any way. This was one of the most stressful situations I've ever had to deal with. Please BEWARE and don't do the same.

BROKER, not a MOVING CO

Safe Ship sold my move to J&B Relocation. https://www.jbrelocation.com/. The absolute worst movers ever. Don't answer the phone, take forever to respond to texts, LIED over and over about the delivery date of my goods, and then when they broke a bunch of my wife's ceramic goods, they offered $50 for $700 worth of claim... and said if I took the $50 I would agree not to write a bad review!?! Are you kidding me?

KEEP the $50... I'm writing the worst reviews ever for this crap company on every platform I can find, just to warn people.

Long-distance move from New Orleans, LA to Ocala, FL

Move from New Orleans to Ocala FL

Worst Experience ever. First, I was unaware safe ship farmed out to movers. Second, They use the bottom of the barrel individuals who are trying to scam you from the beginning before and after pick up. Safe ship started my quote at for this 570 mile trip and with furniture I moved into storage with a 26 ft truck at $12000 plus. When I told him I wasn't interested in spending that much he kept saying he was speaking to his MGR for discounts and got the price to $7900. This was about 2k more than I thought it should be, however I was 1000 miles away and reluctantly agreed because I was told there would be no additional charges. 2 days later a Mgr called and asked if I had told them everything in storage because it would be more if I didn't give all the correct info. I told him I had and if they found I had to pay 1 more dime I would cancel. He assured me no other charges would be brought.

The movers I found out later would pick up on Friday at 2PM. I had someone there to meet them which cost that person $500 to move a job. Guess what, they were a no show. Then they say they will be there at 8 am sat and contact me at 10 saying they are running late and will show up after 11. Also costing my friend an additional $500 loosing another job. I told Habib, the person I was speaking with that I was not paying for anything else and if he thought for a moment it would be more to cancel. Now the amazing thing is he was picking up on Sat and not delivering until Tues, Habib thought he could deliver any time he wanted. Once he picked up he told my friend I was 300 cubic ft over what I paid for. He was told at that time to call me and he choose not to. He then sent me a text the following day saying I had to pay an addtional $2500 if I wanted my stuff. I told him to eat shit. I had to have police there to intervene, Safe ship refused to get involved.

We are sorry your experience with was less than satisfactory. Correct, we are a Broker. Our Broker Status is certainly not something that we attempt to hide, it is listed on our website and all documentation. The fee collected by Safe Ship Moving Services is a broker fee. This is our fee for arranging a fully licensed/insured motor carrier to move/handle your household goods and possessions. Moving is a stressful time and most people are simply incapable of remembering & identifying every single thing they plan on moving. Prices would never be increased without increased services or Inventory. Very similar to a real estate broker, our fee is proportionate to the move size. If the move or volume increases, so does the Broker fee.
Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to address your concerns. We will use your feedback to identify training opportunities. Thank you.

Horrible

Given a time-frame of 15-to 21 working days. It is now past my delivery date with no answers on when my things will arrive. Safe ship used a moving company Global Movers who have investigations going on with BBB and multiple complaints. I called to add a refrigerator the day before pickup, charged 200 additional and when the driver showed he said it would be an additional 800. They don't care about the so called contract. Take these complaints to the BBB.. get enough while the current investigation is going and their damn license revoked.

But we also believe in the value of the service we provide, and we hope you appreciate the value of our service in terms of customer experience, user interface, features, speed, and personal care. We may not be the cheapest option in the market, but we try to add the most value by reinvesting back into our prodcut and processes.

Long-distance move from New York, NY to West Hollywood, CA

BEWARE!! Do not use this company! You've been warned!

I just completed my 4th interstate move and this by far was the worst experience ever! Please note, Safe Ship IS NOT a moving company but simply a broker who you pay to "shop" your move to moving companies. I was totally aware of this, however the problem is that the moving companies they deal with are bottom of the barrel, borderline criminal in the way that they carry out their business. The pickup crew (Top Rated Moving Van Lines) didn't even have a legitimate truck. They basically rented a truck and put a removable placard with their company info on the side of it. The drop-off crew was similar and didn't even bother to put the company info on the truck (I still don't even know the name of the company, which is probably by design). Anyways, once they have your belongings they will extort you for more money, show up late (if at all), handle your belongings with the least care possible, and ignore just about every covenant in the contract you signed with Safe Ship. I was originally quoted $3,200 for my move from NYC to LA, yet it ended up costing over $5,500, and this was AFTER "credits applied due to the multiple complaints throughout the process. Had I not read my contract and spoken up when the movers were trying to scam me, I would have been out of pocket over $7,000. Safe Ship is complicit in all of this and only steps in when you basically force them to. I find it funny that it was easy to reach them prior to the move, but I would often get routed to voice mail when trying to contact them regarding the extreme poor service from the movers.

Before moving, I did a cost analysis of how much it would be to move my stuff vs just selling all of it and buying new items and it was cheaper to move my current belongings. Had I known the cost would have ballooned to $5,500 I would have taken the other route. I will admit that I had a few more items than what was initially provided to Safe Ship, but they were all boxes, nothing bulky. When I disclosed the additional boxes during the final inventory review, the rep specifically told me "this isn't enough to materially change the size or cost of your move so I will leave everything as is". I was fine with paying a few more hundred for the additional boxes and was prepared to do so.

To keep a long story short, the movers (Top Rated Moving Van Lines) showed up, put everything on the truck and then proceed to tell me that the size of my belongings were double than what was in the contract. Based on the inventory I provided, Safe Ship estimated my belongings to be about 360 cubic ft, but the movers said it came out to 680 and the total cost of the move would now be just under $6,000. Being that there were no major items added to the list disclosed to Safe Ship, I was immediately skeptical so before I signed off on anything I asked the "head" mover to let me see the measurements for myself. He first tried to tell me that he didn't have a tape measure (mind you, that they had a full tool box in the truck) so I told them I would get one from my doorman. Once I returned with the tape measure, he then tells me that he would measure it himself and I was not allowed into the truck for safety reasons. I ignore him and say I want to see the measurements for myself. Just as I thought, the measurements came in around 500 cubic ft, which was much lower than the 680 cubic ft that he quoted. This was a difference of over $1,000!! Of course, at this point the head mover became irritated because I caught him trying to scam me. He refused to knock off the full amount based on the actual calculation and said he would base it on 550 cubic ft, and nothing lower, which came out to about $800 off the original quote. He proceeded to get nasty and tell me that "this is how it works when you broker your move out to companies like us", "this isn't a charity, we're here to make a profit", and "I'll put all of your stuff on the curb right now and drive off if you don't agree with this amount!". Though younger me probably would have probably acted in a very different manner, I did manage to keep my cool as I was completely aware that they had my belongings and did not want them to get broken or purposely end up missing. I paid their portion based on the new amount and even tipped the other movers and decided to take it up with Safe Ship.

By this point, I just wanted to be done with the process and move on with my life. I rarely write reviews, but really feel people should be informed about how this company operates. If I save just one person from falling victim to this scam, I feel I have done my job. Do your research before picking a mover and STAY AWAY from the brokers as you will have no control over who your movers are and will be at their mercy once they have your belongings. Save yourself the stress and pick a reputable end-to-end mover even if it costs more. After all, you'll most likely end up paying for it anyways.

Every FMCSA Authorized Carrier we work with must be fully Licensed, Bonded and Insured. We consider reviews and complaints but heavily depend on our Customer's Personal Experience with Carriers.
Here at Safe Ship Moving Services we always try to facilitate moves to be as successful as possible. Every FMCSA Authorized Carrier we work with must be fully Licensed, Bonded and Insured. We consider reviews and complaints but heavily depend on our Customer's Personal Experience with Carriers.
As we try to avoid and circumvent shipping delays at all costs, in the trucking and transport industry a lot of factors contribute to schedule variations. Truck breakdowns, accidents, traffic challenges, natural disasters, changes in carrier routes, severe weather, and staffing fluctuations in are just a few unusual reasons why your delivery can be delayed. Again, we truly are very sorry for the inconvenience.
And due to your dissatisfactory experience with the Carrier, we have removed the Carrier from Dispatch Registry, Filed multiple Complaints on your behalf with the FMCSA launched a Carrier Delinquency Investigation as well as Customer Satisfaction Ticket in an effort to rectify the situation and keep this from happening ever again. Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to address your concerns. A manager will be calling you shortly to assist further.
We will use your feedback to identify training opportunities. Thank you

Worst company

After going through my itemized list for my move multiple times, nobody ever asked me the size of my items. On moving day, they let me know I was paying by cubic ft, not my list, and I was $500 over my paid price. In addition, they could not bring my mattress or sofas unless I paid an extra 300, so 800 over my estimate. When I called customer service, she told me, “yes, and no partial refunds for your items not delivered.” Would never ever recommend.

Long-distance move from Chesapeake, VA to Ann Arbor, MI

DO NOT use this company or service

Let me start by saying I've moved 8 times in the last 12 years. Most have been cross-country moves. We've done full-service corporate relocations using big name long-haul movers. Then we've done smaller moves that were more hybrid using ABF Freight. For this move from VA to MI, we decided to use this broker as we were both working full time and wanted a company that pre-vetted the mover. Worst moving decision we've ever made!

First off - when calling to get a quote, we started off by giving an estimate of amount of household goods. I had a fairly good guess, because we'd moved only 1 year earlier from TX to VA. At that time we had a 28' truck that was crammed full. I knew that it would require something larger as we'd obtained more furniture pieces while in VA. So that information was provided right off the bat. They wanted to do a verbal inventory, so we did. I overestimated the size of things like sectional sofas, patio table, dressers. They ran it through their algorithm and came up with an amount of cubic feet needed. Agent indicated that they will arrive in a semi-truck and we will be charged/refunded based on how much we use.

Fast forward to within days of move - we do a more detailed inventory now that we've got boxes packed. We had done a relatively good initial inventory according to them. Again I OVER estimated size of things.

I don't get name of mover until day before - I look up reviews and they are terrible. Like one star. I couldn't have picked a worse one And they're in New Jersey (I'm in Virginia Beach, VA)?!

Movers arrive 2 hours later than arrival window roll up to my house in a 28' box truck (reminder one of first conversations with Safe Ship - we moved a year earlier, 28' will be too small, so I know we'll need larger). Supposed to send semi-truck and charge based on what we use. Didn't happen.

Thankfully the mover had taken a look at the detailed inventory I'd given Safe Ship, he knew it wouldn't fit in a 28' truck, so he had gotten another truck moving from NJ which was 7 hours away. He walked around our house, looked at the amount of stuff to be moved and indicated that we would use most of that 2nd 28' truck. Which grew our bill to the tune of an additional almost $10,000. Inventory wasn't significantly different than what I'd given Safe Ship, but whatever they use to calculate the cubic feet needed, woefully underestimated the need.

So my decision to make was to either pay the extra $10,000 (in cash) to get my mover underway or try to find a long-haul mover that could start the job the following day (unlikely) because our house was closing and we had to be out. I had no other choice than to pay the extra money and move forward.

You can image the rest - items damaged or missing when they arrive, moving truck shows up 10 days earlier than scheduled and we have to jump through all sorts of hoops to accommodate them. Moving company customer service unpleasant is putting it kindly. A DISASTER! Although I was willing to pay the extra money to have it go smoothly. Never would I ever recommend using this service. Your money gets you nothing. Even if you've never moved before, you can do a better job handling it yourself than paying extra $$ for this broker. The moving company told me that I paid an extra 25% for the broker fee, so in our case that was $6250 for nothing but problems. DO NOT USE THEM

Be ready to pay more than what they tell you

Be ready to pay more than what they tell you and read the small font before signing!

Booking was the easiest part, and the representative was very nice. He warned about costs being higher once they would load the truck since inventory was just an estimated amount, but it ended up being TWICE as much. It would have been better to do a more detailed walk of inventory or given us a range, so it wasn't a surprise when they picked it up. There are also extra costs they warn you about when booking such as distance between truck and apartment number.

Another surprise cost happened when they dropped off our items. They used a shared load 18-wheeler to drive our things which couldn't access our building. it was written in the smallest font in the contract that there was an extra charge per cubic feet for a shuttle service from large truck to a moving van.

Last complain it that they do not tell you exactly when they will be picking up or dropping off your stuff until 24 hours before. Our moving elevator was booked for the time they were coming, and we asked if they could come later in the afternoon, but they arrived even earlier and got upset we didn't have the elevator booked.

We are sorry your relocation did not go as expected, however Safe Ship Moving is the broker so we wouldn’t have been able to double your rates as we do not have authority to pick up items as a broker. We will launch an investigation with the carrier who handled your items to make sure your issues are addressed properly.

They delivered 37 of my 72 boxes!

I paid Safe Ship Moving $7000 to move my belongings from California to Florida. They transferred the contract to a moving company in California that was unlicensed. That company delivered 37 of my 72 boxes and told me to file a claim.

To file, you need to list each item, its original and replacement cost, weight but you cannot save the file. Safe Ship told me that they were sorry.

None of 10 attorneys have responded to my 1-page summary of the disaster.

Are you moving? Rent a moving truck and move your stuff yourself! I wish I had!

Negligent Movers— AVOID

This company hired a moving company based out of Missouri that lost, damaged, and withheld my belongings for 3mo. This company has unanimous 1 star reviews across every media platform. AND that same moving company is actively being sued by the attorney general of Missouri for their fraudulent moving practices. SafeShip claims to look out for veterans and to throughly vet the movers they contract yet they contracted a 1 star company that is actively being sued. Not until I threatened contacting the state’s attorney general did Safe Ship bother to help me track down my belongings. How do you hire a company under investigation?

Horrible Estimators

DO NOT USE THEM!!! I am beyond furious at Safe Ship. Recently the movers came at 7:30pm (1.5 hours later than agreed upon) and they did not leave until 2am. I have 3 children that this move disrupted in a very harmful way. What upsets me the most right now is that they quoted me 768 cubic feet for all of my things and it was only HALF of what I needed to move. I was only able to get the movers to take the big furniture and even that was 200 cubic feet more than what they quoted me for everything that I told them that needed to be moved. Now I have to make arrangements at the very last minute for everything else that needs to be moved. Not to mention that this is going to cost me about $1,000 more than I was told. I understand if I needed a little more room and they still took everything but I was over and they only took half of what I needed to be taken. Even the driver looked at the list and told me that the estimate was way off. I was very honest and very precise in what I said I needed to move. Especially with QA. Safe Ship is horrible at estimations. They claim to be a veteran owned organization but I seriously doubt that. Safe Ship stabbed me in the back and hurt my children. And they caused me to spend thousands of more dollars than any of their estimations. I also had to get additional storage and hire another mover to help that will drive up my moving costs even higher. DO NOT USE THEM!!!higher.

Long-distance move from York, PA to Savannah, GA

Already concerned in advance of scheduled move...

When I initially spoke with Mia (Sr. Logistics Coordinator), I felt incredibly comfortable and reassured based on several of our conversations, the length of time she spent going over detailed information. So I paid a $1,200 non-refundable deposit (no services yet provided). Then I received notification that Mia is no longer with the company and when I called to obtain more information (as I am a month out from my move... to another state... and trying my best to plan and be prepared), I had the displeasure of speaking to Michelle, allegedly the Manager. Not only did she speak while I was speaking, so the entire conversation was us both speaking at the same time, but no additional information could be/was obtained during the call. She continued to tell me that she wouldn't be able to narrow down the 1-10 day delivery (after items are picked up). How might someone who has zero belongings know where they are to travel to be present when the movers do arrive at destination? Furthermore, Michelle advised that by paying more money ($1 per mile) was the only way to guarantee a 1-2 day move, otherwise all your belongings could be loaded, unloaded, and re-loaded onto multiple trucks before finally arriving. In my mind, the less loading and unloading would minimize damage and increase efficiency. I understood that was exactly what their dispatch team did, was coordinate all of the logistics in advance so that a clear and proper order of pick-ups and drop-offs were planned based on each truck and moving team?? I was also advised at the time of my booking there would be 4 movers arriving (1 foreman & 3 movers) so I'm extremely concerned to read that was not the situation for other moves based on reviews. Then to make matters worse, Michelle makes a comment (implying my move isn't important or that somehow, I shouldn't be concerned) because it is still a month away. Exactly, I am doing everything I can to ensure the smoothest out-of-state move possible (as opposed to waiting until the day before as she shared, she personally did recently... good for you Michelle, some of us prefer to have a plan). I am completely nervous now and unsettled about using Safe Ship and do not know what to do... I either lose the $1,200 deposit and find another company or stick with them but based on all of the reviews, they seem to broker with terrible moving companies and then simply hide behind their contract saying we have no control, or say, in what happens... well then why are you involved in process at all if not to help?!

Already completely discouraged and dissatisfied.

~M. Ryan

Never use a moving service "broker"

Never again will we use a moving service "broker." Safe Ship brokered our move. From start to finish: terrible communication (hard to even reach a human being); the move took 30 full days when we were told verbally it would be 4 days (and yes, we know the moving company is "allowed" to take 30 days, but that was not how our move was characterized); even though we provided a detailed inventory, we ended up paying HUNDREDS more than we were told it would cost, AND we had to move another truckload ourselves, and the load we moved (a month after we left our old home for our new one) arrived literally 30 minutes before the moving van did - we lived with an air mattress and a suitcase of clothing for a month; throughout this nightmare, Safe Ship kept saying "call the moving service" even though SS was "our" contact, "our" broker, "our" first line of communication. Terrible experience overall ... stressful, financially painful.

Beware don't believe this company. After you pay your money, its down hill from there. Seniors please don't patronize this company. You are charged $600 dollars for them to make a phone call and your delivery is late. We will file a complaint. We were given false information and charged an additional $900 for weight fees coming from information given from an employee of this company that was wrong. Beware Seniors don't believe the hype. We will never forget how we were treated and check the BBB for information. They tell you the conversations are recorded, so you need to go back and see that your employees are telling customers anything to get a sale. God sees all and the Seniors should not be treated in this fashion. You are not a reputable company. We saw that this was a veteran ran company, so really this is how you treat people. Shame on you. This experience was stressful. We felt like hostages. Never again.

Terrible moving company

This is not a white glove service as they claim. They damaged a wall and floor in the house they picked up from and broke a piece of furniture in transit. They also were not organized and tried to bill me double what was originally quoted.
