Long-distance move from Minnesota to Utah

Horrible

We were lied to from the very beginning by our sales rep Chris with false expectations. We were given an estimated price based on what items we were bringing and we overestimated just to be safe so when the driver arrived we would be under the cu. ft. But to our surprise after pickup they tried to almost double our price. I told them to unload everything and that I would just do it my self with a U-Haul because I couldn't afford to double our cost for moving. The only way they were going to move our stuff is if we were going to pay more, so of course I was left with no choice but to pay more . During the move they destroyed our carpets with their dollies and I had to pay a cleaning company $300 to remove the stains. After they had loaded we were under the impression they were going to deliver our stuff on the agreed upon dates as stated on their website and contract. Come to find out Chris lied about their delivery dates and that we were going to go 3-4 weeks later than what Chris had told us. I definitely wouldn't have signed up for this if I was going to have to wait 3-4 weeks for my stuff to arrive. So here we are in our new house with 2 small children in diapers, none of our stuff is here, and Safe ship continues to ignore our calls. I've been in contact with Roger who is a supervisor I would suppose, Paddy a customer service rep, Chris the sales rep. None of which will return my calls or tell us where our stuff is. Its been 2 whole weeks and we still have no clue when our delivery will be. This has been by far the most stressful experience of our lives and for them to say they want to make the moving experience as painless as possible is an absolute lie. Please watch out for these guys they are bad

Move size: 3 Bedroom Home Service cost: $5800

Official company response

While we are very sympathetic to Mr. Birds situation and have worked tirelessly to complete his move, there are quite a few inaccuracies within his review.
1. Mr.Bird has never had a missed call with my company to my knowledge that wasn't promptly returned the same day. I the owner have taken multiple calls myself from Mr.Bird after hours helping him contact his carrier.
2. While his expectations were to have a direct delivery, his contract states as explicitly as written text can, that the delivery times are estimates and subject to change due to unforeseen circumstances. (Mr. Bird expected a 1500 mile shared load to be delivered within 3 days and based his expectations upon the legally allotted driving time without taking the fact that his move was a shared load into account .)
3. Mr.Bird's price upon pickup was increased because there were items intended on taking that were not disclosed to us during the estimate call, nor the quality assurance call. While we try to exceed the expectations of our customers as often as we can, we are unable to transport additional items without additional charges.
We have been in constant contact with Mr. Bird, we spoke to him everyday this week actually; and will continue to be until his relocation is completed.

Be Careful

Safe Ship Moving is a broker. They have no control over the company that picks up the load or delivers the load. The actual moving company lost 12% of the boxes that they picked up. Their customer service is very poor. They do not follow up and it is necessary to call them. Insta-Movers was the company that picked up my load. Insta-Movers customers service is just as bad as Safe Ship Moving. I would never us Safe Ship Moving again.

Move size: 1 Bedroom Home Service cost: $1600

Official company response

It is unfortunate that this customer had a negative experience with Safe Ship's contracted carrier. Although 3 medium and 1 small box were all that was lost, anything other than full delivery of a customers goods is unacceptable. We at Safe Ship responded to every contact made by Mr. Miller and even forwarded him an insurance claim within 2 hours of being notified of the issue while Insta-Movers was still looking for his boxes in the warehouse. It has been 5 days since he notified us of the missing boxes, so they still may very well be found. We have made multiple attempts at reconciling this issue with Mr. Miller which we were unsuccessful. Mr. Miller has stated that anything less than $10,000 per box as compensation would be unacceptable. This number comes from the maximum insurable amount per item, which has multiple stipulations that must be met in order to be entitled to. Mr. Miller declined additional insurance on his goods.

Horrible service

I have an awful experience with this company. I won't recommend to anyone to take on its service.I was contacted by Stanley who gave an estimate based on my #of boxes and one king-sizedbed. I have only one room to move so it should be simple. However, Inch Perfect Logistic driver showed up 3 hours late on Friday, June 4th close to 5:30pm. He indicated that my things will take more cubic feet and gave a new estimate that was over $1000 than the original estimate. I was confused because I provided the exact number of boxes and my bed over the "assurance call" that I had with Stanley the night before. The driver didn't want to upload my things until I agreed to pay for the new estimate. I called Safe Shipping moving Service, but they were not helpful at all.I finally gave up and agree with the estimate. My preferred delivery date was June 16th, and I called on the 17th and 18th to ask why I have not received my things. They wont provide a delivery date for me. It is almost four weeks later (June 29th) and they cannot tell me when my things are going to arrive. It is awful service. They promised to return a call at the end of the day for an update, but that never happens.

Move size: 1 Bedroom Home Service cost: $2073

Official company response

During the Quality Assurance call, this customer added numerous items and, when finding out this would increase her price, removed all the additional items and wanted to stay at the original estimate. This is an ESTIMATE. When the customers arrived, not only were there additional items, but some of the items included on the original estimate were larger than what was disclosed to us. This of course raised the customers price. As for the delivery complaint. This particular move had an estimated delivery timeframe of 7-21 Business days. Not days. The moving carrier is still well within the contract we have made with this customer.

Fraud company

Did not have items picked up until 1 month later. Aysa and Michelle lied to us the entire time and never called back after stating they would. Renigged on their verbal agreement that they would pay for our storage unit since they did not pick up during quoted time frame. Our items arrived damaged and movers actually left large furniture pieces in our storage because they did not have the "room" although all pieces were on our assurance list and we paid for them. They will take your money, never update or return your calls and just leave you high and dry with the mess to deal with that they caused.

Cross Country Move

I scheduled my Grandmothers relocation from NV to FL. I spoke with a gentleman named Reggie, who set the move up and helped me out with securing a discount on my move. He was very kind and pretty funny, he made me feel very comfortable with the whole process because when I began I was definitely a nervous wreck! I then got transferred to a lovely lady in verification who made sure all the information was correct. Two days before my Nannas move I received a call from Michelle in customer service, she gave me the date and time my movers would be arriving and made sure I got transferred to quality assurance for a final inventory check before the movers arrived. On the day of my pickup the movers were so nice and helpful, they made sure my Nanna didn’t lift a finger. After they picked her items up it took about two weeks for delivery, which Reggie reassured me would be about the time frame because of the mileage of our move in particular. Michelle reached out to the movers on our behalf to get delivery updates and she was always kind. She even answered my calls after hours several times. We received our belongings all in one piece and we couldn’t have been happier with the service.

Nightmare!

So this company is just a nightmare, I cannot speak for the moving companies as well that they contract to, but safe ship themselves, absolute nightmare. Mover got to my home for pickup on the last possible moment then attempted to almost triple the estimate, telling us that safeship.com is the worst of the worst in under estimating moves. So after being extorted and 3 hours of trying to get the broker to do what a broker is supposed to do, thank you safeship.com for no help. I was extorted for an additional almost 6,000.0. And if that is not bad enough then it was 7 days to actually get anyone on the phone to schedule a delivery and nowtold that I can't expect to see anything for 21 more days because my things are in New Jersey, and I am in Kansas and apparently there is an issue finding someone to move it to Kansas, but no one wants to even be honest they just keep making it worse and worse. I have moved out of the country and across country, as a private citizen 4 times now in the last 12 years and never once has any experiences been this bad. I will have had to replace about half of my day to day things before I can even have any hope of ever seeing my things again, if they even actually surface.

Long-distance move from Salem, CT to Denver, CO

Absolutely Do Not Use!

On the original pickup day, Saturday, we found out SS Moving, who contracted with Family Van Lines and/or VSNY Moving to complete our move (I say and/or because the movers had paperwork with both companies and addresses listed, and I’m unsure which was actually the company they worked for; perhaps they are related?). The drivers showed up to our house, and proceeded to whip their truck into the lawn furthest away from our house and got very stuck (which my husband told them explicitly not to do). Our lawn is now very damaged with deep ruts.

In addition to the ruts, my husband overheard the movers on the phone with their supervisor complaining about our job and how it "wasn't worth their time." One of the movers informed me that they did not know how to drive the truck with the trailer attached (obvious from the damage on the truck and the trailer).

I called SS's customer service line and asked to speak to a manager because we were very concerned about the situation and the damage to our property. I was told someone would call me back ASAP.

After an hour, I called back and demanded to speak with a supervisor. The supervisor we spoke with asked that we allow them to worry about this on our behalf and redispatch for the following day. I asked for clarification, but was told I need to resign a new contract. No discounts were offered.

The drivers, stuck in my lawn, had to get towed out of the lawn by AAA, and then the AAA mechanic had to back the truck out of our driveway on their behalf. Afterwards, the AAA mechanic told us that there was no way they were professional drivers.

That night, SS called me to let me know the new dispatched company was scheduled for pickup the following day (Sunday) between 12-3pm.

On Sunday, we got a call at 12:12pm from a driver who did not identify himself and said that they would be arriving between 3:00-5:00pm. I immediately called SS back to ask why the time I was being given was different than the original dispatch period, and to ask for additional information. I was told that it wasn't a big deal if they were late, and I expressed that this was a second attempt to fix an already horrible experience Sunday and that we needed to know when these people would be showing up. I was told that someone would call me back, and that a manager was unlikely to be able to speak with me because it was a Sunday.

Over an hour and a half later, I received a call back telling me that dispatch would be reaching out to me with additional information, and was told that they were "doing us a favor" by getting us rescheduled so quickly. I asked for the name of the company who was getting dispatched and was told it was Safe Movers LLC based out of NJ. A google search yielded no results, so we asked for the DOT license number and found out this company had only been licensed for less than one month.

The original service window came to pass, as did the 3-5pm window, with no phone calls or additional information from the movers or SS. At 5:01pm, we called and asked to speak to a manager because we wanted a refund of our deposit. My call was transferred to a manager (who I'd spoken to on Saturday), and at 5:11pm we said that no one was at our home and that we were done and would like our money back. The manager put me on hold, and then the movers called me at 5:12pm to tell me that my "address did not exist". I asked what town they were in, and they said one two towns over; I corrected them and the call disconnected.

As we were getting ready to head out of the door, the movers pulled into our driveway, just before 5:30pm, in a rented Penske truck (which is against their DOT license). My husband walked outside, and told them that we had spoken with SS and were not interested. We then proceeded to watch them leave, got in our car, and also pulled away.

However, the manager from SS Moving called me back and said that because we had declined the movers, we were no longer eligible for a refund. I responded that we requested the refund at 5pm when no one was at our house, and at 5:18pm, this manager had also confirmed someone would be reaching out to process the request. At this point in time, the manager began to argue with me and raised her voice, telling me that we were ungrateful and that I was a liar because she had “a photo of my mailbox from 5pm which meant the movers were there.” I pointed out that we were on the phone at 5:15pm when I informed her the movers couldn’t find my address, and so there was no possible way they were on our property at 5pm. After raising her voice to the point of yelling at me, we asked to speak with her direct supervisor because this call was deeply unprofessional and we wanted our refund, and she agreed and hung up.

We did get a full refund from SS after speaking with the Customer Service Manager that evening.

Long-distance move from Washington to South Dakota

Absolute nightmare

We used Safe Ship Moving out to move my father in laws precious possessions from the pacific north west to South Dakota. The shipping company showed up a week late so we had to pay someone to meet with them and collect his belongings. It took them over 3 months and countless phone calls to get them to deliver the items. When his things arrived the wood furniture was cracked, splintered, and destroyed. I don't even know how this level of damage could have happened. The boxes where torn open with family photos and a lifetime worth of memories scattered around the storage floor. His wedding china was unwrapped broken and chipped. Every item was filthy. I will attach photos. I hope that you read this and this helps at least one person from this fate. Please please use a local mover with amazing local reviews. We have sent Safe Ship photos of this belongings and have not heard a word from them.

Safe ship Moving was fantastic! They were honest and upfront from the start. The moving team arrived on time and packed everything with such care, I was very impressed. The actual movers were friendly but professional and hard working. My stuff was delivered in the time frame I was provided and nothing was damaged. They really went above and beyond what I expected and at a fair rate as well! Couldn’t be more happier. If I ever move again I will definitely use them again and recommend them to anyone moving, you will not be disappointed!!

Overcharge upon pick up, items are not even shipped!

Avoid this company. I used this company for my move to Seattle half a month ago and so far haven’t received my items. This business is having so many problems I don’t even know where to start:

They quoted me for $2400 with me providing list of items, dimensions of boxes. Upon pick up, they charged me $4000 after loading up everything.

The second they their customer service team knowing I was mad about the discrepancy, the only thing they did was calling me and saying I did something wrong, because I have already paid, they have nothing else they could do to correct the payment for me.

After two weeks, on my scheduled delivery day, I heard nothing and called their customer service team, but I was told the items are still in Maryland warehouse, they did not even move after two weeks time, and they said they will now work on the order and update me within 2-3 days.

All my disappointment left me no other options but to explore legal solutions. Again, do not use this company.

Absolutely terrible at estimating

Move from New York to San Francisco. Quoted me at 370 cubic feet. Charged for 700 cubic feet. Cost went from ~ $3,100 to $4,700 for essentailly a studio apartment... Wish I just rented a uhaul to drive it myself. I will do it myself next time. Broker rep gave me a bunch of excuses, and said I was not allowed to inspect the truck, but did not offer pictures or video evidence to help understand by their estimation tool was so inaccurate:

"We can't stack your stuff" - everything except two of my items were stackable. I stacked everything when I moved from the Midwest to NYC. Your company just failed to properly pack, secure, and tie down everything

"You forgot to inventory items" - Wrong, I inventoried everything during my last move and current move, prior and after packing everything up

This was downright fraudlent and I haven't even gotten my items yet. I suspect there will be damaged and/or missing items. I am calling a lawyer to open a case against Safe Ship Moving. Absolutely unacceptable.

I am so angry that nobody ever told me about Safe ship! Where have you guys been!!!! I have been ridiculously upcharge by so many different moving companies. I have been stood up, rescheduled and taken advantage of in the past. This company does not do moving... they hire subs which they don't advise in advance. The men who came to my home in Tennessee were very nice and efficient.. however I found out that they took the truck to their home for 3 days. I have missing items. Then when delivered the truck looked like everything just thrown in truck.. I had a $1000 sofa has bent frame and many more broken items. When you contact them they don't care tell you to deal with movers that you did not initially hire..do NOT use this company.. I couldn't even give them 1 star.

DO NOT USE A SHIPPER IF MOVING!!We were given all kinds of assurances that our furniture would arrive on time and in good condition. When there was trouble with the pickup, we wanted to cancel but were told we would lose $1200.00 deposit. Should have canceled but was convinced by company that they would take care of everything. Long story short - items picked up 2/21/22 and to be delivered on 3/20/22. It is 5/18 and still no stuff! getting the run around daily. No one returns calls or email. They cannot, or will not, tell us where our things are, when we will get stuff. We are in our 70's, sleeping on an airbed and eating off paper plates and a borrowed card table. We packed as if it would be a month - my medical supplies are somewhere and insurance will not pay for more as I had 90 day supply. WE ARE LIVING THE NIGHTMARE!! PLEASE - if anyone has any ideas how to help, let us know. We are desperate. I am truly afraid of what increases they will charge us, condition of my stuff or if it will even arrive. READ THE REVIEWS

By far the worst customer service company in existence. In my opinion all of the 5 star reviews are bots or fake. From our initial quote, delivery timeframe, quality of movers, or cost - everything SafeShip told us was a lie. They promised direct delivery - ended up re-handling our shipment onto another truck and damaged all of our belongings. They promised us first floor free moving service - mover held us hostage on moving day saying 10 steps was more than a floor to the tune of $200 extra. Told us our shipment would be processed in 10 days or less - we have been waiting for over a month and some of our belongings were mistakenly delivered to another customer. Promised us enough space for our belongings - undersized our order and the movers demanded $650 day of or they would not complete the move. They are a broker only and do not take any responsibility other than robbing you. There is no wonder the only reviews are either 5 stars or 1 star. Take the 5 with a grain of salt. Read the 1 star reviews and whole-heartedly take them seriously. Find a direct shipper that you can have a relationship with - SafeShip are liars and thieves.

Any FMCSA Authorized Carrier we work with must be fully Licensed, Bonded and Insured. We consider reviews and complaints but heavily depend on our Customer's Personal Experience. The logistics involved for all our customers consists of numerous components and countless moving parts. The preliminary Estimate is just that, an Estimate. Moving is a stressful time and most people are simply incapable of remembering & identifying every single thing they plan on moving. Safe Ship would never increase a Price without increased services or Inventory. We can assure you that if a box was marked "FRAGILE" it absolutely would not have been dropped. I'm sure you can understand our confusion about damages as we did not pack your items. Due to your dissatisfactory experience with Safe Ship Moving, we have launched a Carrier Delinquency Investigation and a Customer Satisfaction Ticket in an effort to rectify the situation and keep this from happening ever again. Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to address your concerns.. We will use your feedback to identify training opportunities. Thank you.

Long-distance move from Puyallup, WA to Bixby, OK

Moving is Stressful - Thank you

I just graduated college and decided to move across the country to fulfill my dream job and I needed a professional moving team to help. I called Safe ship and they were able to get me an amazing price and understood that I am college student with not a lot of money. They arranged everything for me and when the movers arrived they packed my furniture really well and safe ship followed up with me throughout the whole process.

Terrible company, takes advantage of you

I do not recommend anyone using this service. They bait and switch you with their quotes. I gave them everything on my inventory list, accurate to the number of boxes and they quoted me $2200. Once they showed up to my place, they said I had way more than the quote says and I now owed $4700. I had to move that weekend so I had no choice. The customer service representatives kept promising my stuff was coming and it showed up very late and damaged. The movers showed complete lack of effort to take care of anything. All of my boxes were smashed, the fragile-labeled boxes were at the bottom of the stacks and smashed too. I was delivered 2 items of someone else's belongings. My furniture was scraped up badly and a lamp broken, clothes dirty from the boxes being torn open. All around this company has terrible communication and will do anything possible to get every penny out of you. DO NOT USE SAFE SHIP MOVING & READ EVERY LINE ON THE AGREEMENT--THEY TAKE NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY DAMAGES AND DO NOT HAVE TO STICK TO ANY DELIVERY WINDOW. THEY MISQUOTE YOU ON PURPOSE TO TAKE ADVANTAGE AND END UP CHARGING YOU 2X.

Avoid if possible

I strongly, strongly advise against using Safe Ship Moving. It has been the worst moving experience I've ever had. I have been lied to on numerous occasions by both the sales team, the quality assurance team, and the customer service team. Every time I have spoken to an employee from Safe Ship, I have heard different information (about price estimates, pickup information, transportation information, drop-off estimates, etc.) and the stories keep changing. Do yourself a favor and avoid this moving company.

A couple of things to keep in mind before using Safe Ship:

1. The price estimate you receive during the booking process WILL increase dramatically, regardless of how well you are able to record your inventory ahead of time. Remember: the sales team is only trying to get you to commit to the move. Once you sign the contract, you are locked in and they can jack up the price on the day of the move. I meticulously measured and recorded every item I was shipping before receiving my estimate. In fact, by the time the day of the move came, I had actually gotten rid of a few large items on my moving inventory. Yet when the movers arrived, my total payment was increased by 30%. At that point, I really had no recourse to do anything: if I cancelled, I would lose my $1,000+ deposit and still have no mover contracted.

2. The transportation estimates you receive during the booking process, and even on the day of the move, are NOT going to be accurate. The sales team told me that they would get my property to my new destination within 5-14 business days, but this is *strictly* an estimate, meaning it can take much longer (up to 30 days before there are any penalties or legal issues). On the day of the move, I was asked when my "first available arrival date" would be, so I chose the earliest possible date: 5 business days. When I called in two weeks later to get a delivery update, I was told that the clock on the 5-14 business day estimate only begins after your "first available arrival date," meaning day 1 of the 30 day clock only began on the date I had listed.

3. My complaints (about the sales representative, repeated misinformation, etc.) have not been recorded. During what must have been my tenth call with customer service, I asked about a number of complaints I had filed and was told that none had been recorded. My guess is that customer service is told to simply let the customers vent but not actually send any complaints up the chain of command because management really isn't willing or able to do anything.

There have been more issues that I won't elaborate on here (I was misinformed about the pickup time, about necessary packing materials, and about the payment schedule), but suffice it to say that the move with Safe Ship has been an absolute nightmare. These moving services are a dime a dozen; go with another provider.

Official company response

We are sorry your relocation did not go as expected, however Safe Ship Moving is the broker so we wouldn’t have been able to double your rates as we do not have authority to pick up items as a broker. We will launch an investigation with the with the carrier who handled your items to make sure your issues are addressed properly.
