Quality Express Van Lines

I've learned that moving can be tricky if you don't have experience in relocation. Luckily, Quality Express Van Lines does all the hard work for you. We just had to kick back and drive to our new home while the stuff was safely hauled long distance :) I recommend these kinds of moving companies that specialize in interstate moves because they make the whole thing a piece of cake. I don't have to worry about the logistics and execution, that's their job and they get paid for it.

Move size: 1 Bedroom Home Service cost: $6100

About two weeks ago we reached out to Quality Express Van Lines asking for a quote to do a move from California to Colorado. We manually submitted an inventory list that listed every single item we own and an accurate box count (listed out by size). The representative then went through my inventory making manual adjustments because he said that the system lists items at a substantially higher weight than normal. After spending almost three hours on the phone with the company going over all our inventory they gave us a quote just over $3,000.

Three days ago (the move was scheduled to go through today 10/14/19) they called back and increased the estimate by 70% (new quote was over $5,000). The quality assurance manager explained that they had to change the weights all back as they are required by law to use that system. We couldn't afford an additional $2000 from our estimate so we had to cancel. Even though this was their error (their employee manually changed the inventory themselves, we did not do it) they are trying to keep our deposit of $900. The supervisor hung up on us.

Now, they won't return our calls. They hang up as soon as they figure out who we are. It has gotten to the point where we are looking to take them to court.

Save your money and look elsewhere. They enticed us with a quote they knew they weren't going to honor to get us to give up a deposit. Instead of fixing the error as soon as it was caught, they gave us very little notice to change plans in order to trap us.

We have a BIG house so there are lots of things to move, I knew that our relocation wouldn't be the easiest, that's why we needed the best moving company that money can buy. That company turned out to be Quality Express Van Lines. These guys are dedicated to making the whole relocation smooth and painless. They understand what you need to do to be successful in an interstate move. I am very happy with the results and would use them again if the need arises.

(Shady) BROKER - not a moving company


Despite the name sounding a moving carrier, they are just a broker and take 15% fee for booking the move with a sub contractor. The one we got placed with was rated low in reviews, and never showed up.

They have honest sounding representatives explain everything before giving a deposit. Once you pay that, they become completely unresponsive. They talk as if they are the moving company, and never say over the phone they are brokers.

Looking at the contract, it does say they are brokers in tiny print at the bottom. I told the manager of training that they should disclose proactively that they are brokers and his response was "I'm not going to do that because I don't have to."

Advice: Run away! These guys are not legit.

Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $3800

This company is not upfront about being a moving broker, not a moving company. The movers they contracted were 4 hours outside of the original time frame given. Their arrival at 6:15pm to my storage unit meant it was dark and cold as they worked; it also meant I was frequently checking the time as the unit closes at 10:00pm. Matters were made worse when the movers locked themselves out of their truck, spending at least 45 minutes trying to open it. I asked repeatedly what their plan was and how long before they would be ready to load the truck, but just received the response that they would try for several more minutes. Though the movers were able to open the truck, I don't trust my belongings are safe in a truck they were able to break into.

Additionally, I believe the company intentionally gave me a much lower estimate than was realistic, as the estimate was just over $1,000 less than what the movers charged. Though there were extra boxes, this represents a 50% increase from the original estimate--and I do not have 50% more things than represented in the estimate. I chose this company because they offered the most competitive price, but the cost is now significantly higher than any other quote I received. Payment is typically cash or money order, which causes me to question the legitimacy of this business. On top of this, I was given no estimate for when my belongings would be delivered.

When I talked to customer service, their representative dismissed rather than addressed my concerns, would not connect me to a manager, and would not give me an assurance that anyone would follow up with me, period.

I don't trust this company at all.

Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $3150

This company low ball the prices. (They would offer the most competitive price) The price that they quoted for including full service, means packing and moving the boxes. I told them this is an apartment and it is on 3rd floor with out an elevator and they agreed upon the request.
Guess what? The day they were supposed to move, the moving people said, we need to box and pack and getting down through stairs it is an extra of $1575. I tried so many time to contact the moving company and no one answered the call. I tried to call the next day and the person I talked to was very rude and when I asked why is it extra? He replied "Would you carry this luggage for free". I asked for the quote ahead of time.

They made me to pay a initial non-refundable deposit and I don't know if there is way to get $1140 back.

Please don't fall for this.

I have never had such horrible customer service in my entire life. At this point I would have preferred to move each item from Georgia to California one by one in my Honda Civic than to ever go with this company again. They hired a different company to do the actual pick up and delivery and they don’t tell you that when they’re trying to get your business. The company that came packed up my things and then charged me for special packing that they used to cover the Mirror without telling me first. They just expected me to pay the $150 extra. They also stated I took up more square feet than originally quoted but they didn’t pack anything well at all. I could’ve packed the truck better by myself. And when I said ok take the ikea dresser out, I’m on with donating it- they laughed. You shouldn’t plan on just charging people extra without notice. I’ve called multiple times for an update and every time the man I speak to- who seems to be the same snarky man just says how is he supposed to know where my stuff is and I’ll get a call the day before when the driver is in the area. It’s been over a month and I still don’t have my stuff. I got a call yesterday that the driver should be delivering today and would call me to confirm delivery. At that point I FINALLY got my driver’s name and number. No call from the driver by 6 pm so I called the number provided. No answer. There’s not guarantee the driver will even show up and I’ve been sitting around all day waiting for them. I’m so upset. I paid $3200 to sleep on the floor for a month. I could’ve just donated my things and bought a new bed for that price.

I can't believe the experience I've had with this company. They were so unbelievably unprofessional, rude and deceptive. Everyone from the customer service representative, the sales associates and the movers were awful. I would have saved myself time, money and stress by doing everything myself. First, they would not give a visual estimate for the amount of cubic feet and pounds they needed to move me out of my sparse 2 bed duplex. However, they said the truck would be empty heading to my new area so they wouldn't be as strict on the weight and the move would be quick (within 3 days).

Then they added another $800 to my bill after I get old them what was being moved exactly . I didn't want to cut my losses because I had already put down $1200 to book the move so I went with it. Later they told me which day I needed to give them an exact number of boxes (a Monday). That wasn't a problem, I had already started packing and I had the whole weekend to finish. Well, I call about taking a few things off the manifest and adding something else and they told me they needed that exact number in 2 hours because they forgot they needed everything by Friday. Well, I couldn't give them an exact number with 2 hours left to pack so I estimated with the boxes I had. I measured every box and gave them every dimension by the time they asked and the guy told me they were weird box sizes so he had to put in what he could. He severely under estimated and didn't change the price after going under the estimated box number.

Now it's moving day, the movers were 2 hours late and told me every box size was wrong and I would need at least 100 more sq ft of the truck to be used which is another $350. When I told him that I told the guy the exact measurements he said it was my fault for having abnormal box sizes and I need to buy the right boxes to make it easier on them. Another $150 fee was charged for 'bulky items' which he said we're the washer and dryer and breakfast room table. Lastly, I was told by the mover to expect my stuff in two weeks instead of the original agreed upon time of 3 days. When I told him I was told the move would be quick he just laughed and said that's not going to happen.

The experience with this company has been awful. I will forever remember the name quality express Van lines and I will tell everyone I know to stay the fu** away. The people who run this company should feel ashamed. This is by far the worse customer service experience I've ever had.

If you get a phone call from a salesman named Robert Kraft, hang up your phone. This man will tell you nothing but lies to get your deposit. They are not a moving company they are brokers. They will tell you your estimate is by the lb. only to have the company they hire Boost Express, show up and tell you they charge by the square foot. This will increase your estimate by about 500 dollars in my case. More lies come on promised delivery date. My scheduled drop off was Nov. 8th, today is the the 25th and I still don't have any of my belongings. My fish have all died because these two companies are unethical liars who cannot live up to their promises. They made their buck off me, too bad for them about 20 other people from my company are moving and all have had fair warning to avoid this company. I hope this review reaches as many as possible, so no one has to go through what I am during a stressful enough time.
