Long-distance move from Deford, MI to Clinton, MD

This is an excellent company

We used them to move into our new house. Everything about the company was fantastic. Our move coordinator was pleasant, helpful, and so friendly. They graciously offered us plenty of boxes, and shared advice on how to properly pack. On moving day, they were on time, the truck was the appropriate size, and more than enough movers were there to get the job done within the necessary time frame.

Long-distance move from Charleston, SC to Wallingford, CT

Horrible Company

If I could give Progressive Van Lines 0 stars I would. Initially their customer service representatives were helpful, and I was hopeful for a seamless move. I was quoted a pick-up window of 08/19 - 08/20. The movers never showed up on either days and never communicated with me that they wouldn't be coming. I called, emailed, texted, and no one ever responded. They took $1420 from me and did absolutely nothing. They have yet to give me a refund. I am getting lawyers involved at this point, but of course they make that difficult as all law suits must be filed in Florida. 0/10 would not recommend. Please save yourself the headache.

Long-distance move from San Diego, CA to Athens, GA

Violated multiple FMCSA/ federal regulations

We signed a contract with Progressive Van Line for our move (6/29) on 5/10. We paid a deposit of $1687.80 for our household (order# H***2238) and $150 for auto transport (order# H***4591).

Our broker gave us the time range 6/29-6/30 for our household pickup. They failed to find a truck during the promised time range, and they told us that the deposit became non-refundable 5 days before our first available pickup date. We reluctantly picked 7/19-7/20 for their second chance.

Again, they failed to find a truck for our household items (7/19-7/20) and our cars (7/20-7/21) during the promised time range. The cancellation department informed us that they are keeping our deposit for a whole year.

We want to point out that Progressive Van Lines violated multiple FMCSA/ federal regulations and at least one Palm Beach Country Code of Ordinance while dealing with us as their customer.

§371.109

(a) You must provide each potential individual shipper who contacts you a list of all authorized household goods motor carriers you use, including their U.S. DOT registration number(s) and MC license numbers.

-- Progressive Van lines did NOT provide us the list nor that information of the authorized motor carrier whose tariff they claimed they created the estimate based on.

§371.111

(b) If an individual shipper elects to waive physical receipt of the Federal consumer protection information by one of the methods described in paragraphs (a)(2) and (a)(3) of this section, and elects to access the same information via the hyperlink on the Internet as provided in paragraph (a)(1) of this section, you must include a clear and concise statement on the written estimate described in §371.113 that the individual shipper expressly agreed to access the Federal consumer protection information on the Internet.

-- Progressive Van lines did NOT include the statement on our binding estimate, nor were we provided any consumer protection information. (the signed contract/binding estimate is attached.)

(c) You must obtain a signed, dated paper receipt showing the individual shipper has received both booklets that includes, if applicable, verification of the shipper's agreement to access the Federal consumer protection information on the Internet.

-- We never signed nor created any of those documents or verification, nor Progressive Van Lines had explicitly mentioned to us the existence of such agreement.

(d)

At least seventy-two (72) hours prior to the move, the broker shall provide written disclosure to the shipper that the move will be brokered and provide the name, physical address, phone number and contact person of the permitted/registered moving company actually performing the household move. The shipper may cancel the move at his or her discretion, and the broker shall refund all monies paid.

-- Progressive Van Lines did NOT provide us any of that information within 72 hours prior to move or any other timelines.

Those violations are reported for investigations to each authority, hoping to protect current and future customers of Progressive Van Lines. I hope this information will be helpful.

We were entitled to cancel the move at our discretion, and no such clause we signed states that the refund due to the company's violation should take one year.

Progressive Van Line caused a financial burden (nearly $2000 extra to deal with their cancellation) and significant emotional stress on us. The company failed to provide what they promised multiple times, and there is no guarantee that they will refund us a year later. We continue to seek a resolution and immediate refund.

Long distance move

Believe me when I tell you, if I could give zero stars, I would. This company is a scam!!! Do not book with this company!! On the day of my move, the mover tried to add on an additional $350-450. Which I refused to pay, because I was not told of this up front. The driver left my family and I stuck in MD. The associates are rude and unconcerned from top to bottom. Steer clear of this company.

Service never provided and the kept my deposit

If it were possible to give them zero stars I would! They are a scam! I was scheduled to have items picked up for a move on August 28th or 29th, which didn’t happen but there was no communication from the company about any delays, despite my repeated calls and emails for an update. When I finally reached customer service I was told PROGRESSIVE cancelled the contract because they couldn’t find a carrier to meet my pick up dates. After not providing the service, they refused to provide me a refund as they said the deposit is non-refundable. I think most customers and any reputable business would agree a refund should be provided is no service was provided…especially if the company cancelled the contract. Don’t believe the positive reviews, they probably aren’t from actual customers.

Long-distance move from Sun Prairie, WI to Prosper, TX

Never showed up on the day of move.No Refund False claims and lies

I would request everyone to stay away from this company. We had to go through a lot on the day of closing with 2 kids. These guys are not movers, they are (cheaters) brokers and send quotes to multiple movers and if you happen to be in luck some no-name moving company will come to pick for you, twist is you won’t see your stuff again. I spoke to Neil Edward and he is an excellent actor he did the same for not one but a similar experience for multiple people who booked with him and this company. These guys did not have any intention to show up and when I called them asking when can I expect them to pick up they kept postponing saying the next day and when the pickup window closed they started claiming I canceled the move. When I questioned them how can I cancel the move when I had to move out of the house as I had the closing on the next day they said someone from their side made a mistake and canceled my move. I had to get a Uhaul and move all of my stuff to a friend’s garage as they promised to send someone in the next few days which never happened and I got tired of calling them and had to hire different movers. They said they would process my refund and asked me to send an email canceling the move as they could not help me with the move. I have been reaching them for almost 3 + months now and today when I spoke to the customer care rep Neil Edwards again, he said I should have read the contract correctly and asked me to read the contract again and he mentioned that they just give an estimated date for pick up and they don't promise on actual pickup dates. Neil said they won’t refund stating that I sent an email for move cancellation which I sent upon speaking to them after 3 weeks of delay. Stay away from these guys.

Time to reach out to an attorney.

One thing I learned is to stay away from brokers like these guys and try to hire the actually the movers who would actually move the stuff.

I wish you all Good Luck with your move.

Long-distance move from Bellemont, AZ to Jackson, MS

They are great in there job!

This company handled our move from Arizona to Mississippi last week and it was as easy as could be. They were very upfront with the cost of the move in general and explained everything. Trevor and a bunch of guys received our stuff and took great care in wrapping our furniture. Paul and two guys moved in our items in MI and again were great. They did a fantastic job putting all the furniture back together. Everything came back in good condition and the guys were very careful with items, especially the fragile marked ones.

Long-distance move from Virginia Beach, VA to Dunbar, WV

Some of their movers aren't trustworthy.

I generally leave positive reviews, as one can tell from my reviewing history. I feel the need to warn others in this instance, however.

I booked through this brokerage firm, aware that there were likely to be a couple of problems, but I can roll with the punches pretty easily and nothing I own is particularly valuable. It was more affordable than the average full-service moving company.

Progressive itself doesn't have these issues (as far as I can tell) but they shouldn't farm out jobs to companies that do.

The subcontracted moving company, which changes its name, phone number, and address with some regularity, left me feeling anxious. Time for some due diligence: I researched the bejeezus out of them. What I found was alarming.

They will have their DOT registry/number revoked, and simply get a new one with a new address and phone number. (Ah ha! An explanation for the confusing mess online.) They've never had a positive review. They're being investigated by police. A class action lawsuit is being launched, onto which over fifty jilted customers have signed. The BBB is bureaucratically appalled (lol).

When I finally located a functioning number, I got through to a perplexed girl who was hired yesterday and is just so sorry, but she doesn't know how anything works yet. (I pray she finds a less sketchy employer!)

Two companies with similar names have had to change their names because of the spillover from the bad moving company. I got the pleasure of speaking to both owners yesterday, and their venting sessions were intense. Neither provide the service I need, however, so I couldn't simply swap over. :)

In the end, I wrote Progressive asking for a replacement mover, and called to also ask for a replacement mover. Like to cover all bases. This didn't seem to be possible, so I cancelled my move and requested a refund (minus 5%) of my deposit. I received an answer within seconds: no refunds!

At least I lost $612 rather than $1600. Please do your research before you go through a broker, and investigate your movers. There are a lot of scam artists out there, and clearly not all brokers can suss them out appropriately.

Is Falcon currently, technically legal? I guess. That's too low a bar to have faith they'll adequately move one's household. Not that they'd care, I suppose: they can't be reviewed on Google themselves because they only sort of exist. Weird, huh?

Find a better broker, move yourself, or hire an actual moving service. Best of luck everyone!

Best moving experience to me

Thomas and his crew were hardworking, efficient and got the job done. We are very happy with the move and the price. They were on time and did what they said they were going to do. Moving is very stressful and they made it less so for us. In addition, they were all very cheerful and easy to work with. We would hire them again, but we hope this is the last move for a long time.

DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY - LONG STORY

DO NOT GO WITH THIS COMPANY! From one family to another - PLEASE do not book with this company. I never leave reviews but I wanted to share our experience so I can save the headache for another customer. They are strictly a BROKER and do not take any responsibility beyond getting their cut of the binding fee. The customer service Rep Neil answered my many questions in the beginning ; however, he was dishonest in his description of the process. You pay for a booking fee but the moving companies do not even see your job until you complete the 2nd inventory . MY 5 bedroom house was not even 'selected' by a moving company until the NIGHT BEFORE. The moving company Falcon Moving LLC from New Jersey was not prepared the day of the move. They literally went to Home Depot that day of to buy boxes. I contacted Progressive the SAME day to address concerns for 30 minutes on the phone and Marcus answered questions and stated they only hire the best moving companies. Falcon Moving was 2 people and they hired Craigslist people. It was a terrible pick-up experience but at that point you have no other options since we were moving across the country with our kids.

I made multiple attempts to contact the moving company for weeks to make sure our items were in storage. Progressive and Falcon Moving assured me they were delivered to storage. When I stated concerns about moving company ; Progressive stated they were no longer responsible after the pick up. REALLY?? They said they would contact Falcon Moving to 'be nice.' There is a LONG story to this ; but to sum up. The moving company was a scam - the employee they sent was fired after our job and he NEVER delivered the items to the storage but had them the whole time. Our stuff was held hostage and we had to pay in money orders to receive items - which were destroyed! The police were involved and were are going forward with a lawsuit. PROGRESSIVE was called through-out this whole process. I tried to talk to a supervisor (which they do not have). They did not follow through on ANY requests. Please do not move forward with the company. I would advise going with a moving company that is NOT a broker but provides services directly.
