Long-distance move from Pottstown, PA to Jacksonville, FL

Complete Scam!

Most of my items that were actually delivered were broken, my furniture drawers were missing, my TV never arrived. My bookcase came broken and with no shelves, some of my clothing bins were filled with water so my clothes had mold and mildew! To top it all off, the movers came at 12am and didn't leave until almost 3am. I now have to take this scam company to court to seek compensation for all of my stolen and damaged goods. Please save yourself the headache and listen to the overwhelming amount of negative reviews!

Long-distance move from Westerville, OH to Framingham, MA

Delayed Delivery and no answers from customer service.

When I first contacted them they told me to fill out the bill of lading saying I needed my furniture "immediately." I did so and it's now been eight days since they picked my stuff up for a move from Ohio to the Boston area. When I call to find out an ETA I get the same answer "we called dispatch and they're waiting for a truck to come in." Whatever that means. All I'm asking for is an ETA and to have delivery made.

The team who packed my stuff up were great. Courteous, professional and attentive. All the problems started once everything left.

Long-distance move from Lakewood, WA to Friendswood, TX

All around horrible experience thus far

I hired Progressive Van Lines due to the fact it was veteran owned.

Things started to go South after the deposit was paid.

1) Andrew never bothered to call for the updated inventory even though it was the day before scheduled pick-up. I called. Mentioned everything again in the inventory but added 3 ceramic plant holders, larger in size, however, never received an updated estimate. Oh yea I did Dylan the customer service mgr sent it via email after the fact.

2) They send Neville and Son Trucking LLC to contract the move. Head boss, continued to tell me he couldn’t give me a quote until all was loaded. Just say the price of the estimate more than doubled.

3)When inquired about it I get of course the gaslighting, excuses, I was furious because I knew what I was seeing but my back was against the wall.

4)When notified Progressive on 9 April 2021 I was ready for my household goods, I was given a date and timeframe, that passed. Called again Dylan said he’d call Neville and get status, I got nothing back.

Finally, a week later he has Jessica from Neville who explains the storage fee of $498.00 I believe, I just know, Progressive agreed to assist with half.

5)I call again this time refusing to speak with Dylan why, because Dylan doesn’t tell the truth. Dylan will gaslight and back peddle when it comes to anything. Dylan told me when I called the first time after the movers left he would try and find assistance for me, considering I am a 100% combat veteran and am on a fixed income. I do not get assistance from others, I have no other means to support myself, so the inflated increase was not what I anticipated nor budgeted for.

5) It is my understanding Progressive is just the “dispatcher” for lack of a better word. However, I hired your company not Neville, therefore they are your responsibility to ensure your ‘words’ actions align with your duty of service, and as of this day, I was told by John DeSilva from Neville and Son that my HH goods would be here yesterday, Sunday April 25, 2021 and as of 0728 CT John ain’t answering his phone.

6) I emailed a final statement then backed it up with a call, refusing to speak with Dylan, and was told within 48 I would know something by a guy named Steven who asked I send a copy of information to him which I did and I have yet to hear back from him and I spoke to him and sent the email at 5:15 pm on the 22nd

It is now 8:30 and getting texts and calls and all that jazz telling me This Good morning. The truck will be there today between 12-2PM. Please have cash or money order of $1,816.00 ready at the time of delivery before an offload can take place. Thank you and have a great day.

No written invoice like I asked. Nothing!

Worst experience in my life! Most unprofessional pieces of work ever! Mind you I paid $936.00 deposit $1,400 deposit.Scammedor fraudyoudecide

Getting different stories on where my belongings are

I have still not received my belongings , the moving company tried to scam me out of 680 more dollars, for specialized blankets that was already included in my contract, they also left behind six peices of furniture my husband who is disabled has been sleeping on floor for 10 days , my daughters memories and pictures who recently passed are on that truck, my granddaughter is emotionally upset about not getting those mementos, when I call they tell me supervisor will call me back. Still no call between this company and moving company I have called at least 50 times, my next move is the bbb, the police to report it stolen and the news channels.

Long-distance move from Washington to Alabama

Incompetent and unreliable

I booked our move with the progressive van lines, paid nearly $1200 deposit. Confirmed a week before the service date that we were all set and still scheduled for pickup on the 11th. I was assured that was the case. I heard nothing from the company on the day of the move, so I called them in the afternoon and was notified that they would be here for a pick up 2 days later (still within the pickup window). On the day the pickup I called the company again (yep, they do NOT communicate on their own) only to find out that they are not coming to pick our stuff up, because "their truck broke". They offered to return our deposit, but when you have to schedule for the service long time ahead, because it's such a busy season, the deposit really doesn't do much. Now we're stuck in a rural Washington with a closing date the day after tomorrow and limited number of options. The operator was incompetent and rude, talking over me, not being able to provide any information other than: "it's not my fault the truck broke". He said we could reschedule the pickup, but he didn't know when to. If you need dependable service progressive van lines won't deliver it to you, it doesn't matter you pay the deposit, it's only binding for the customer, not them.

Long-distance move from Arizona to Louisiana

Canceled our FULL move the day before closing my house!

Warning!!!! Please do not make the same mistake we did- DO NOT use this service. Three months ago I called, got a quote, signed a contract with a very nice individual named Joe. We had a two day window for pack out, it was the day before our house closed everything seemed fine. I emailed closer to the date about how to make sure the house was ready since they would be packing our boxes and everything I asked if things need to be off the walls, things out of drawers etc. Joe would email back answer my questions telling us we were still on track with a 99% chance it was going to be on the Tuesday (which was the first day of our two day today window). He called on Tuesday and said it would actually be on Wednesday. He confirmed what we had going and I was assured that even though my house was pretty large the one day would be plenty enough time because our house was closing the next day. On Wednesday, an hour AFTER they were supposed to be at our house, get a call some guy name Sean who informs me that they don’t have a crew to come out to my house he’s really sorry but they have to cancel. So I’m stuck with a house full of furniture, not even a box to back in, and less than 24 hours before my house closes. He offered to refund my deposit... like are you kidding?!? I am seeking legal action but please do not put yourself in this super horrible situation! We’ll see if I can get the deposit back

Very satisfied!!!

My experience with Progressive was excellent. The movers arrived a day later than expected but I can hardly fault Progressive for the traffic the crew encountered on the way over (over a 6 hour delay because of an accident!). Upon arrival, the crew was professional and friendly. Out stuff was delivered timely and we are very happy. My agent was Neil and he could not have been nicer. We are going to recommend to our friend who is moving this fall. Thank you!

Look Elsewhere for your move!

1st: if they respond with "we have no record of this customer" that is their way of trying to deny a legitimate review. First thing: The moving business is a very shady business, it gets down right dark when dealing with moving brokers like Progressive Van Lines. My move was in April of 2021 from Nebraska to Florida. I talked to their rep James Night who was very friendly and helpful for several calls - until he got my down payment. Then it was like pulling teeth to get ahold of him or anyone at Progressive. First off, they required $1200 up front for a down payment, with 1/2 of the rest being due at pick, and the other 1/2 of the rest due at delivery. The shady part is the pickup and delivery amounts have to be in cash or money order. This is 2021, everyone has square or some form of digital payment!

How brokers work: they figure your cubic feet or weight (Either works, there is no cubic feet scam as others have said) and give u a binding estimate. Then they contract movers from wherever (mine turned out to be from NJ) who pick up your items, take them to a central location, unload it, and load it again when they have enough to fill a semi truck going in your direction. Once the broker gets your down payment, they are done and they don't really care anymore.

We ended up with Arena Van Lines. To their credit, they showed up on time on the right day, took their time (crew of 2 guys) to pack up my furniture and load it tightly in their box truck. We had most everything else in boxes in the garage but it took them 6 hours mainly because they disassembled and packed everything tightly into their truck. Here is a catch: they will re-estimate your goods and you will get charged more. Why? Because the estimate software that Progressive uses is using 1 size for every dresser, 1 size for every night stand, 1 size for every kitchen table etc. If yours is bigger, u get charged more. Its just a way for Progressive to give you the most attractive estimate. So with that extra charge + extra fuel charge + stairs fee (Which was B.S. as the contract allowed for 21 steps and I had 14 total) and some other misc fee it was an extra $700 that would be due upon delivery.

James told me it would take 4-8 days to get my things to Florida. The driver of the truck that came to get it said it shouldn't be too long because everyone is going to Florida.

IT TOOK ALMOST 2 MONTHS TO GET OUR FURNITURE!!

Calls to Progressive were useless. Like I said, once they get your money they don't care. Calls to Arena Van Lines were at least answered but they didn't have enough drivers apparently. My furniture was loaded and unloaded again at least twice over that 2 months as I was told it was coming, then it wasn't. Finally, I got a call that my furniture was coming. When they finally delivered, the 2 man crew did a good job and got everything set up in 2.5 hours. My smoker took a beating as it apparently wasn't wrapped and we lost 1 large box that apparently broke during the move and most of what was in it was lost.

The contract from Progressive Van Lines specifically states that the carrier has up to 30 business days to deliver, meaning they knew it would take up to 6 weeks to deliver, even tho they confidently told me 4-8 days. On top of that, it also specifically states that Progressive Van Lines will pay $30 per day beyond the 30 business days that delivery has not been made. I contacted them shortly after our delivery and they told me it was the carrier who pays. I pointed out the section in the contract (Sent an email with it circled) and they still denied it was them and to contact the carrier.

Luckily, Arena Van Lines stepped up the plate and paid the fee for Progressive.

The Good: I ended up getting 98% of my items. The carrier (Arena Van Lines) was prompt at picking up and as professional as movers can be. Arena Van Lines also picked up the ball that Progressive Van Lines dropped and paid me the late delivery fee.

The Bad: Progressive doesn't take any responsibility for anything. Once they have your $$ they dont care about anything else and will not honor the contract. It took ALMOST EIGHT WEEKS to get my items. Utterly ridiculous.

I was upcharged $700 during pickup, to be paid during delivery - which I did. I lost most of the contents of a large box.

The Bottom Line: DON'T USE PROGRESSIVE VAN LINES, or any other "broker". They will stretch every truth, won't honor the contract and won't give 2 craps about you or your situation once they have your $$. They just gave me the run around no matter how many times I pointed out and showed them the clearly stated paragraph in the contract about the late delivery fee. Very shady company.

Total cost of my move (3 bedroom split level house, not heavily furnished) was $5700 thru Progressive Van Lines.

I hope this email has helped anyone who is considering Progressive Van Lines. I am 100% a real customer. If you have any doubts, feel free to email me husker3in4@yahoo.com

Long-distance move from Providence, RI to Randolph, NJ

RUN don't walk AWAY from this company

Working with Progressive was an awful experience. I hired them to move my son out of his college apartment. It was a small move. Not complicated at all. Started off good. Spoke with Josh King. He was easy to talk to and eventually "sold" me on using them. When I started to have trouble, he was no where to be found. His direct line no longer worked and I was left to deal with rude, incompetent and unprofessional people. I mostly dealt with Dylan, who called himself the Customer Service Manager. The only question I was looking to get answered was when and what time would someone be at my son's apartment to pick up his belongings. Not a difficult question but it lead to 3 days of jerking me around. I got hung up on. Yelled at. Even told me to be patient on day 3 because there are 20 million people across the country trying to move and that they are very busy. Almost a direct quote, again, in response to me asking what time will someone be there. Finally got a call on the last day of my "window" from Falcon Moving company. He sounded nice, responsive. He did ask if they could go the next day, to which I told him they could not. My son was already a day over his lease and I had to pay an extra day's rent because Progressive "couldn't" get anyone there the day before. I obviously, was onto the scam I got myself into, and told my son to put anything of value in his car and to not allow them to put it on the moving truck. Best thing I ever did. They did pick up his stuff. Called me at 9p.m. to tell me it was going to cost more than I was quoted because I was over my "cubic feet." Cubic feet was NEVER discussed. They took his things and 5 days later wanted to deliver it. I told them I was not paying another cent over whatI was quoted. They tried to shake me down for the Money and I told them I didn't care about anything on that truck that they could take it and throw it away. It was disappointing that Falcon was also in on the scam. They too would not return my calls when I tried to settle the balance. Had to negotiate with the driver who I don't even think worked for them. Came in a Ryder truck with no markings of Falcon Moving anywhere. This was a week long ordeal that cause so much stress and anxiety. Just AWFUL. RUN AWAY!

THE WORST COMPANY EVER!!!!!!!!!

We had the WORST experience with this company. They are nothing but a scam. We signed a contract with them to move our stuff from NY to NC. We'll what they do is use another moving company Falcon Moving Company which is even WORST. Falcon company showed up late day of our move and said we didn't pay for enough square footage for the stuff we had. Long story short we ended up paying $1100 more. When they finally showed up 2 weeks later then they originally promised they only had half of our stuff. They asked for $260 more to put certain boxes on the 3rd floor of our 3 story home.. But we made it clear it was 3 stories at the beginning and they said you won't get charged extra for stairs in the house only stair outside the house. Well they claimed they had no knowledge of that. So we paid the money then they told us they were tired and can they leave the boxes on the second level. I said absolutely not, we just paid you extra to take this boxes to the 3rd level so that what you are going to do. Unbelievable !!!

Some of the boxes we used were changed to different boxes and they had gone through all of our stuff with other people stuff mixed in the boxes. They stole 3 TV's, laptop , a electric fireplace, several furniture items and a lot of our clothes. We Called Progressive Van Lines and they kept us going for several days before they told us don't call back anymore and there is nothing they can do about our missing items. We spoke to this RUDE woman name ASHLEY. EXTREMELY RUDE!!! She has no customer service skill at all. Bottom line DO NOT USE PROGRESSIVE VAN LINE OR FALCIN MOVING COMPANY. The whole set up is a SCAM!!! I Only put 1 star because it makes you put a star in for rating but they deserve NO STARS!

Long-distance move from New Mexico to Oregon

They saved me a huge headache

I never write reviews but I felt the need to leave this company one. In December I was instructed by my doctor to move out of my residing state of New Mexico and move to Oregon due to high elevation and my breathing problems. I put in a quote request for a moving quote and instantly setup a move with Hambre's Moving and Storage out of New Mexico City. They were responsive and easy to work with, that is, up until a day before my move where they called to inform me they had overbooked and could no longer service my move. I had to be out the following day since the new buyers were doing a walk through that morning. I was able to reason with the buyers and began looking for a new moving company. I was contacted by Scott at progressive. He kind of overloaded me with information at first but he did warn me about moving companies cancelling on people last minute. At that point I was about to rent a uhaul truck and move it with the help of a couple of folks off craigslist on both ends. Scott persuaded me to use his moving company but gave me a fairly high price. Something about him just made me trust him and I went with it, it beat driving a truck 800 miles and finding movers on the other end.

They found a carrier in their network to do an emergency move. The movers showed up at 7am the next morning and immediately informed me that Scott forgot to ask me about patio furniture I was moving, I called Scott and he spoke to the driver and explained his mistake. Scott was able to get them to honor the original price and load everything for that price. They delivered 3 days later, unloaded the truck and setup the new home. During the transit time progressive's customer service must have called me over 10 times to give me updates which became annoying but it was better than no communication.

All in all I would highly recommend this company. They saved me a huge headache.

Long-distance move from Cincinnati, OH to Wilmington, NC

They are a scam

My family found out three and a half weeks before we needed to move that we’d be moving. We called pretty much every known moving company we could and no one was available. When we called Progressive Van Lines, we were thrilled when they told us they had a truck that could pick our stuff up four days before we left. The man we talked to on the phone said our stuff would definitely be picked up on a Tuesday and that we’d receive a phone call on the Monday before.

Monday rolled around and we never got a phone call. We ended up calling and they kept saying we’d get a phone call later in the day. Tuesday came and we called, they told us the truck was coming and we’d get a call from quality assurance a little later. In the early afternoon we got a phone call that the truck had backed out and they didn’t have transportation for us. They told us they had three days to deliver (and that’s fair, the pick up estimate they gave us had a 72 hour window). Wednesday we started to panic because we were leaving Friday. We called and the people we talked to had no clue when they’d have a truck ready. We asked what would happen if they didn’t get a truck and they told us, “we’ll cross that bridge when we get there”. Technically they don’t guarantee a pick up or delivery date. In their contract they have a clause that says there is no guarantee of any date. If you back out for any reason within or after five days of your initial pick up date they keep your deposit. Even if they have no idea when/ if your stuff will be picked up. That’s how they scam you.

I am pretty certain they never had a truck for that Tuesday. According to Palm Beach County Moving Ordinances, brokers MUST provide the contact info for the company they contract seventy two hours before your move. They never sent us this information and I believe it’s because they did not have a moving company.

After 72 hours we realized Progressive Van Lines is a scam. They are shady and they will try and scam you out of your money.

We were able to get a full refund by compiling and sending a list of all the ordinances they were not following.

Do not use this company. They are a scam and they will try and rob you.

NEVER USE THIS COMPANY! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

This company is a complete scam - total bait and switch - you have been warned! My experience is right on par with the rest of the nightmares listed below, it will absolutely ruin your life and devastate you mentally and emotionally. Prices end up being double of what was quoted, they outsource your job to shady 3rd party movers (who are even worse to deal with than PVL), and they accept zero responsibility for your miserable experience. To put it in perspective, my relocation from AZ to FL was supposed to cost $14K. It ended up costing $27K and I'm 40 days out AND STILL DON'T HAVE MY STUFF. As others have stated, PVL won't call you back and they accept zero responsibility for their negligence. I had no idea how shady the moving industry is and Progressive Van Lines (and Genesis Van Lines whom they outsourced my move to) are at the very top. I don't know how this is even legal. The story is so much worse than I can put into words, just heed my warning and run away from this company - I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy and don't know how these people sleep at night. There is NO WAY that the good reviews below are legit, there is no freaking way!

Would not recommend

First our movers were cancelled for the time scheduled. Then they scrambled to find some other company to move us. When they came, we ended up paying almost $1200 more than quoted. The 2 mens' personal hygiene was horrific. They had taken apart dining room table and did not know how to put back together. They were going to leave without assembling it. My husband insisted they come back into the house and assemble it, which they did. Also, we never received a console table that was moved from our previous address.

This is an excellent company

We used them to move into our new house. Everything about the company was fantastic. Our move coordinator was pleasant, helpful, and so friendly. Horrible Company

If I could give Progressive Van Lines 0 stars I would. Initially their customer service representatives were helpful, and I was hopeful for a seamless move. I was quoted a pick-up window of 08/19 - 08/20. The movers never showed up on either days and never communicated with me that they wouldn't be coming. I called, emailed, texted, and no one ever responded. They took $1420 from me and did absolutely nothing. They have yet to give me a refund. I am getting lawyers involved at this point, but of course they make that difficult as all law suits must be filed in Florida. 0/10 would not recommend. Please save yourself the headache.

Violated multiple FMCSA/ federal regulations

We signed a contract with Progressive Van Line for our move (6/29) on 5/10. We paid a deposit of $1687.80 for our household (order# H***2238) and $150 for auto transport (order# H***4591).

Our broker gave us the time range 6/29-6/30 for our household pickup. They failed to find a truck during the promised time range, and they told us that the deposit became non-refundable 5 days before our first available pickup date. We reluctantly picked 7/19-7/20 for their second chance.

Again, they failed to find a truck for our household items (7/19-7/20) and our cars (7/20-7/21) during the promised time range. The cancellation department informed us that they are keeping our deposit for a whole year.

We want to point out that Progressive Van Lines violated multiple FMCSA/ federal regulations and at least one Palm Beach Country Code of Ordinance while dealing with us as their customer.

We were entitled to cancel the move at our discretion, and no such clause we signed states that the refund due to the company's violation should take one year.

Progressive Van Line caused a financial burden (nearly $2000 extra to deal with their cancellation) and significant emotional stress on us. The company failed to provide what they promised multiple times, and there is no guarantee that they will refund us a year later. We continue to seek a resolution and immediate refund.

Believe me when I tell you, if I could give zero stars, I would. This company is a scam!!! Do not book with this company!! On the day of my move, the mover tried to add on an additional $350-450. Which I refused to pay, because I was not told of this up front. The driver left my family and I stuck in MD. The associates are rude and unconcerned from top to bottom. Steer clear of this company.

Long-distance move from Chicago, IL to New York, NY

Service never provided and the kept my deposit

If it were possible to give them zero stars I would! They are a scam! I was scheduled to have items picked up for a move on August 28th or 29th, which didn’t happen but there was no communication from the company about any delays, despite my repeated calls and emails for an update. When I finally reached customer service I was told PROGRESSIVE cancelled the contract because they couldn’t find a carrier to meet my pick up dates. After not providing the service, they refused to provide me a refund as they said the deposit is non-refundable. I think most customers and any reputable business would agree a refund should be provided is no service was provided…especially if the company cancelled the contract. Don’t believe the positive reviews, they probably aren’t from actual customers.

Long-distance move from Sun Prairie, WI to Prosper, TX

Never showed up on the day of move.No Refund False claims and lies

I would request everyone to stay away from this company. We had to go through a lot on the day of closing with 2 kids. These guys are not movers, they are (cheaters) brokers and send quotes to multiple movers and if you happen to be in luck some no-name moving company will come to pick for you, twist is you won’t see your stuff again. I spoke to Neil Edward and he is an excellent actor he did the same for not one but a similar experience for multiple people who booked with him and this company. These guys did not have any intention to show up and when I called them asking when can I expect them to pick up they kept postponing saying the next day and when the pickup window closed they started claiming I canceled the move. When I questioned them how can I cancel the move when I had to move out of the house as I had the closing on the next day they said someone from their side made a mistake and canceled my move. I had to get a Uhaul and move all of my stuff to a friend’s garage as they promised to send someone in the next few days which never happened and I got tired of calling them and had to hire different movers. They said they would process my refund and asked me to send an email canceling the move as they could not help me with the move. I have been reaching them for almost 3 + months now and today when I spoke to the customer care rep Neil Edwards again, he said I should have read the contract correctly and asked me to read the contract again and he mentioned that they just give an estimated date for pick up and they don't promise on actual pickup dates. Neil said they won’t refund stating that I sent an email for move cancellation which I sent upon speaking to them after 3 weeks of delay. Stay away from these guys.

Time to reach out to an attorney.

One thing I learned is to stay away from brokers like these guys and try to hire the actually the movers who would actually move the stuff.

I wish you all Good Luck with your move.

Long-distance move from Virginia Beach, VA to Dunbar, WV

Some of their movers aren't trustworthy.

I generally leave positive reviews, as one can tell from my reviewing history. I feel the need to warn others in this instance, however.

I booked through this brokerage firm, aware that there were likely to be a couple of problems, but I can roll with the punches pretty easily and nothing I own is particularly valuable. It was more affordable than the average full-service moving company.

Progressive itself doesn't have these issues (as far as I can tell) but they shouldn't farm out jobs to companies that do.

The subcontracted moving company, which changes its name, phone number, and address with some regularity, left me feeling anxious. Time for some due diligence: I researched the bejeezus out of them. What I found was alarming.

They will have their DOT registry/number revoked, and simply get a new one with a new address and phone number. (Ah ha! An explanation for the confusing mess online.) They've never had a positive review. They're being investigated by police. A class action lawsuit is being launched, onto which over fifty jilted customers have signed. The BBB is bureaucratically appalled (lol).

When I finally located a functioning number, I got through to a perplexed girl who was hired yesterday and is just so sorry, but she doesn't know how anything works yet. (I pray she finds a less sketchy employer!)

Two companies with similar names have had to change their names because of the spillover from the bad moving company. I got the pleasure of speaking to both owners yesterday, and their venting sessions were intense. Neither provide the service I need, however, so I couldn't simply swap over. :)

In the end, I wrote Progressive asking for a replacement mover, and called to also ask for a replacement mover. Like to cover all bases. This didn't seem to be possible, so I cancelled my move and requested a refund (minus 5%) of my deposit. I received an answer within seconds: no refunds!

At least I lost $612 rather than $1600. Please do your research before you go through a broker, and investigate your movers. There are a lot of scam artists out there, and clearly not all brokers can suss them out appropriately.

Is Falcon currently, technically legal? I guess. That's too low a bar to have faith they'll adequately move one's household. Not that they'd care, I suppose: they can't be reviewed on Google themselves because they only sort of exist. Weird, huh?

Find a better broker, move yourself, or hire an actual moving service. Best of luck everyone!

Long-distance move from Edwardsburg, MI to West Covina, CA

Best moving experience to me

Thomas and his crew were hardworking, efficient and got the job done. We are very happy with the move and the price. They were on time and did what they said they were going to do. Moving is very stressful and they made it less so for us. In addition, they were all very cheerful and easy to work with. We would hire them again, but we hope this is the last move for a long time.
