Refunds are a joke

No refunds after 72 hours!!! Promised a refundable deposit after a smooth hard sell by “Steve”. Not so much..Kristen in customer relations said I should have read the contract more carefully. Look them up on social media and here…horrible reviews!! And you can’t change your mind and get even part of your money back!! I am old enough to have known better, but moving is emotional and this company takes advantage of that.

Don't hire this company

Do not hire New Leaf Moving Group. First of all , they are brokers, and despite their assurances to the contrary they did not send a reputable mover to my home. The company they sent, Right A Way Movers has an F rating with the BBB and every single review on every single site I could find says they lie, steal and damage your belongings. I was not provided the information of who would be moving my belongings before the cancellation window and did not find out who the actual mover was until they showed up at my door ( 6 hours late). The movers tried to say I had 2400 cu ft of belongings on a truck that would only hold 1750 cu ft, and the truck was not completely full. I was also never provided an inventory of my belongings, with the driver telling me he "lost" the inventory stickers and contract. New Leaf has been unresponsive to my attempts to contact them, ignoring phone calls and emails. My things have still not been delivered, and I am quite sure they will have been rifled through and damaged when they arrive. Instead of bringing my things from Minnesota directly to Texas, they detoured to their warehouse in Georgia and have yet to provide an actual delivery date. Please, please do not take the negative reviews lightly, and realize that positive reviews are easy to buy. I have filed complaints with the BBB (which will probably not amount to much) and also with the DOT (FMCSA). If you have been scammed by a broker and/or a moving company please consider filing a complaint against them at the DOT website. It is easy to do, and perhaps if enough people file legitimate complaints they will eventually investigate and revoke their license. If you file a complaint with DOT you can name both the broker and the actual mover on your complaint. You can also file complaints with the Attorney General of the state where you live, where the move originated, and with the state of Florida where their business is based. I am imploring you to consider other options, like hiring local movers to fill a pod and having the pod shipped. Going through New Leaf Moving was the WORST mistake I have ever made and I hope that I can deter other people from making the same mistake.

Worst experience of my life

Horrible. They had good reviews, so I scheduled with them. The estimate was about half the cost, I had to take a loan out in order to get my delivery. It was a direct same day yet somehow I had boxes missing. The insurance is based on weight, as if that has anything to do with value. I was missing probably $600 worth of items and they wanted to give me $75. Not even worth the effort. Price was outrageous. All they did was subcontract to VANLINES USA. They are horrible too. Idiot damaged my furniture by thinking it was a good idea to stand up a reclining couch on its side instead of separating the 3 pieces and then knock it over. And of course damages not covered either. Huge waste of money overpaying for crappy service.

Bad experience

Until they get the first money from you they are attentive and flexible. Then is it goes downhill fast. Less than 48 hours notice for a Sunday delivery, which is not allowed by my building. I had to scramble to get temporary storage and will need to pay another group of movers to deliver on a weekday. This voids any insurance. Further I paid for unpacking and packing materials removal, which didn't happen. I could go on and on listing problems, but they have sucked up too much of my time and money. Don't use them.

STOP - Don’t book

While I’m at a loss for words I’m going to do my best to sway you away from booking with New Leaf. Dishonest - that’s they best way to describe how they do business. To put it most simply - the quote I got and signed off on was $4,700. I have now paid nearly $15,000. Changes were laid on me last minute so that I had no option. Please please save yourself the tears and high blood pressure I faced and book directly through a moving company who comes to your house and surveys your items.

Worst Move Ever

I have moved about 20 times in the past several years and you'd be better off moving yourself. Stay as far away from New Leaf Moving Group as possible. They are a broker. They hire third parties that will scam you, hold your furniture hostage, and treat you with the utmost disrespect. They used a third party, Right A Way Movers. They damaged all our furniture, are rude and have ineffective communication. Beware.

Do NOT use New Leaf Moving Group

Please avoid this company. Once they get you on the hook after receiving your deposit, the customer service stops there! The cost went up after my initial deposit once the movers came (I had no choice, had to pay because I had to move). You can’t get anyone from New Leaf on the phone to help you.

They broker your move out to unscrupulous, shady movers. Took almost 2 months for my items to be delivered on my long distance move.

Don’t be fooled by their “fake” good reviews, do your due diligence on research and stay away from New Leaf. In the end, I did receive all of my belongings with minimal damage, but I’ve read much worse horror stories about this company. I contacted the Florida Attorney General, BBB and the FTC but couldn’t get much traction.

Nothing but Brokers

Sales people Bait and Switch

This company is nothing but a broker for other moving companies, they will low ball you to get the business and once you give a deposit and take your money the price will be increased for various reasons which they have many. The salesperson will tell you they will be with you throughout the move, but as soon as they get your $$ you will not be able to get that person again. Do not use this company!!!!

AWFUL - DO NOT USE

DO NOT BOOK THEM FOR A MOVE!! It was the absolute worst experience I have ever had with a moving company. Customer service was awful and we ended up having to pay over DOUBLE what we were initially quoted. Sorry for the long winded review but if you want more details- read below!

We booked New Leaf Moving company back in November of 2021 for a move in May 2022 After giving an inventory of our home along with square footage and estimated number of boxes, the representative we spoke to gave us a quote of $7000 for 1100 cubic feet in a 26/28 foot truck. On the initial call, we expressed concerns about the size of the truck for our home - he said not to worry about it, these are professional movers who know how to pack a truck well.

After finalizing our move date in early 2022 we called the company back to schedule the pick up and again - expressed concern about the size of the truck and wanted to add items to our inventory list. The customer service agent promised they would call the week of the move and inventory our belongings again and would be able to adjust the truck size if needed. We also emailed on May 3 and called (2 weeks before the move) with updated items and documentation including photos inventorying every piece of furniture we have in the house and never got a response via email. The representative on the phone said the updated number of items wasn't a big deal and they would call the week of the move to update them with all the inventory.Once we did update the company, the cost of the move doubled from $7000 to $13,800. The fact that the cost DOUBLED is absurd! We gave you our home square footage, number of bedrooms etc, and knew there was a chance the price would increase if more items were added which is obviously why we said something months prior - and we were not given an updated estimate. Had we known this would be the cost, 2 months out, we would have cancelled the move and found a different company. Since we were given this updated price less than 24 hours before pick up- we had no choice but to move forward with you guys for the move.

On the day of the move, my husband called new leaf expressing concern AGAIN once the truck arrived saying that it didn't seem large enough. A customer service rep said that the truck had more room than what they quoted us so it would be fine. After the movers loaded up the truck as best they could - they were still unable to pack a good portion of our items - over $1000 worth of furniture/belongings.

Another issue - When the movers arrived at the house - there were only 2 people, it was supposed to be a 6 person crew. It took them over 14 hours to pack up our house. They didn't finish until after midnight.

To say we are upset is an understatement. The move was a complete NIGHTMARE! DO NOT BOOK NEW LEAF MOVING COMPANY!

Terrible - do not use

DO NOT use New Leaf Moving Group. They are a moving broker, so you are stuck with whatever local carrier they get to perform your job. Whatever initial estimate they give you (in terms of cubic feet) will be way off. The local carrier will up charge you at every turn.

We had tons of trouble at delivery (only 1 guy showed up to unload, nothing re-assembled, trash left everywhere). New Leaf Customer Service told me they do too much business with the local carrier to make a big fuss about it. Their only solution was to file a claim for any damage and/or inconvenience. How professional, definitely have their customers' interests first...

Book your own move. Don't use these guys under any circumstance.

Scam

Are all movers scam artist? Here is the routine (and our experience with New Leaf).... Walk through the inventory for an estimate. You are told don't worry if you miss an item here and there - they include a buffer. Then the inventory with the estimate is provided. It looks good you sign up. Oh and if the dates change don't worry, just let us know by xxx. The move date comes - they confirm the inventory.... OH wait! it is different (does not matter more items less items, slightly different - THIS is Where they SCAM you - Like New Leaf did us). "The inventory for the estimate says King Size bed but it did not say with head board and foot board - that is extra, and the vacuum is extra. And even though I reduced the number of boxes and items - it is still extra because there estimating software says you need more space. They have you hostage because the move date is this week and they know you cannot get another mover. So what about that date that was not a problem to change by the day specified by the person who sold this?... I tried calling to change by the date but was told no - the contract says 5 Business days and even though they work 365 days a year - I should have called two days earlier. I called by the date I was told! This is the game - They WILL scam you!!! - tape the conversations - seriously!! They will tell you what ever was told you can not be verified because it is not "in the notes" Tell them you are taping the conversation and then do it

Big scary move made easy

I could not have been happier with New Leaf Moving……from the first call I had with just general questions to when I finally decided to set a date and move they were exceptional. Customer service could not have been more helpful. They took all my information and quoted me a fair price (I called two other companies) and picked up all my furniture and personal belongings from Gardner, Massachusetts and delivered then to my brand new retirement home in Port Orange Florida…not one item had a scratch and they were so friendly and accommodating. Best moving company ever.

Do not hire this people!

Do not pay this company!!!

I am opening a law suit against them!

If you are interested in a class action law suit email newleafclassation@yahoo.com

I hired this people for an out of state move!

Once they had my deposit it went downhill!!

The customer service is terrible!!!

EVERYTHING they promise is false!!!

They sent some random people to do my move! People just clearly just rented a Penske truck and had no experience with moving whatsoever.

They didn’t bring ANY moving supplies or blankets to protect delicate items!!!! Like I was promised to!

My contract had a “ not to exceed” clause, yet I was extorted out of more money from the people they subcontracted!!!

My items were ALL damaged!

They refused to bring the bulk items that they charged me MORE to carry inside my house.

They left pretty much most of my things in the garage!!!

I contacted my bank and notified them of what has happened to me, they were able to revoke my deposit, since the service I contracted was not what I received!

I received a call from new leaf today, and was threaten !!!!

I already have a lawyer and am pursuing a legal case!!!

Save yourself and believe this reviews!!!!!

AVOID at all costs

Booked a move through New Leaf for a last minute military move after my own Army moving service dropped the ball. I had a similar experience to other reviews. The movers showed up and immediately asked for more money, stating that my goods take up more volume than estimated (unlikely, I overestimated intentionally). The movers were extremely unprofessional and tempered. While leaving the apartment complex, they swiped a retaining wall causing $750 worth of damage. They are refusing to pay to replace the damaged wall. When waiting for the delivery, the carrier company has pushed back the drop-off date, first a week at a time, now daily. Promising the delivery will get there tomorrow every day. At this point I dont know if I'll ever see my belongings again as the carrier has stopped answering my phone calls.

Unprofessional and inflexible

At this point I don't really believe there's a "good" moving company, they're all hyper-expensive, inflexible, rude, unpredictable and overall difficult to deal with. New Leaf are probably not the worst, but they're still all of those things. They can't give you exact times for when they will pick up and deliver, but still demand you be there at the time they tell you they're coming. They arrived on a weekday morning when my wife and I were working, I'm a doctor so it was a complete nightmare trying to co-ordinate this while responding to emergencies. They would only book a minimum size of truck for our small one-bed apt, so we massively over-paid, and not only that, but suddenly they couldn't take a credit payment for delivery, it had to be cash, no matter what. I had just moved, hadn't even got my first paycheck yet, but they didn't give a sh*t cos it's in the contract. I'm sure there's something they could have done, but they just treated me like a criminal "refusing to pay" and said my stuff would be put into storage for another 400 billion dollars fee if I didn't cough it up. Positive things, at least they actually showed up, unlike other moving companies. And the actual delivery people were nice and professional, but they're probably a third party anyway. So these guys prob aren't the worst, but I still wouldn't recommend them to anyone.

AFWUL EXPERIENCE. NIGHTMARE

BEWARE!!!! Moving with New Leaf is a nightmare!

DO NOT USE NEW LEAF. DO NOT! DO NOT USE NEW LEAF.

Any positive reviews are "BOTS".

Lowball on the estimate. Movers show up and price quadrupled.

New Leaf doesn't let you talk to your sales rep that did the estimate.

Forced to pay because your belongings are on the truck and you have to vacate your home. Forced to give cash. New Leaf doesn't care. "You signed a contract", "it's a he said, she said", trucker didn't get any cash"

They hire people who rent a truck. They don't hire professional movers.

Our stuff arrived - boxes looked like they were thrown around, desk broken, things missing, stuff broken.

Long-distance move from Lakewood, OH to Charlotte, NC

Horrible company - DO NOT TRUST THEM.

If I could give this company 0 stars, I would. It started off with a bait and switch tactic from a salesman on the phone (David Eagan). We were planning a last minute move and he gave us a wonderful price to get from Cleveland, OH to Charlotte, NC. The quote was $2400. He gave us this estimate on how much stuff we’d have based on us telling him what we would be packing up. He never physically saw our stuff. On our verification call, we told them AGAIN how much stuff we would have. Upon arrival (one day late) of the movers, they said we had about four times the amount of stuff they quoted us as having and we would need to pay for the additional space. It ended up being over 5 grand more than our original quote. The movers that came to our house were a completely different company (New Leaf never told us that) and the man in “charge” lowered my price to pay the moving company and forced me to pay him directly via Zelle so he could profit more and the moving company less. He also forced me to leave my house (I was alone) to pick up water and Gatorade for his team. He then forced me to leave again to go to a bank to get cash out for his team (2 teenage boys) for a tip. They made me feel extremely uncomfortable and taken advantage of. They left and I contacted New Leaf and they were no help- they even belittled me by saying I shouldn’t have done those things. They didn’t offer any solution. We were then given the run around for weeks about when our stuff would be delivered. A completely different truck and movers came to drop off our stuff - they were hired by the company that New Leaf hired so we are now dealing with 3 different companies. Many items arrived damaged (a whole desk and dresser) and we have an entire XBOX One missing, along with 1-2 large boxes.

Long-distance move from Atlanta, GA to Denver, CO

Can’t explain how bad this company is

Absolute worst experience of my life. New Leaf is a criminal organization stealing from movers. They took my money and hired a carrier that was banned by the DOT (contract breach) and held my belongings hostage for 2 months until I got the help of the Atlanta police to seize my belongings in storage and move them myself. New Leaf was rude, non responsive, and never took responsibility for hiring an illegal carrier. They still owe me $10k since we paid half of the move and they DIDN’T MOVE MY BELONGINGS.

Check Facebook. New Leaf had to take down their page because they had 1 star and so many complaints. Check the BBB and FMCSA/DOT complaints. This is the worst company in the world and needs to be shut down. Rebecca Reid (owner) should go back to jail where she belongs.

Fraudulent, Dishonest, Deceptive Switch & Bait Company

Due to a quick house sale and non-availability of the top-rated cross country moving companies, I contacted New Leaf Moving Group out of Boyton Beach, Florida. They responded immediately. Steve Williams, the first agent I spoke to, reassured me that all of my questions and concerns would be taken care of - why else would they receive a top rating from GetMovers.com? And, then I tried hanging up as I was on a fact-finding mission at this point and needed to discuss my options with my 30-year husband. This is when everything went completely haywire. Steve started talking faster, threatening me with increased costs if I hung up; told me I didn’t need to speak with my husband as I had 72 hours to cancel with no penalty; he told me their great reputation demonstrated their placement in the online list; he repeatedly stated he had my back, gave me his personal number for any questions; New Leaf had many reputable movers who could meet my move out date in 2 weeks, and not to worry about your list as he included “extra” space, on and on. So, I signed under incredible duress. This was a Friday afternoon. Based on the stress of my quick house sale and the New Leaf agent tactics, I was drained and shaking at the end of my conversation. I started reviewing the estimate immediately to learn it was all wrong. Items were missing, seemingly undersized, duplications, etc. I tried calling back during that 72 hours and you get someone else (in Customer Service or Quality Assurance) who appears to be much smarter and catches many of the errors without any mention from me. Now the price is several thousand dollars greater. Another review finds the list still not reflective of what I discussed. Yes — more money. By this time, your entire nervous system sees a huge red flag of switch and bait. I went to Central Florida BBB site and found 135 recently filed complaints and even more on Yelp. I spoke with BBB to learn that they have assigned a dedicated agent just for this company’s complaints. So, I did the smart thing. I cancelled. Then I lost my $5,100 deposit. I wrote a letter to Rebecca Reid, the New Leaf President, with no response. They don’t allow you to speak with anyone higher than a low level customer service person who reminds you repeatedly that your cancellation occurred after the 72 hours; therefore, you lose your deposit. Never mind that you tried cancelling only to be thwarted and threatened and ignored in trying to do so. If you don’t believe that this is an actual experience, you need to read all the complaints on the sites I mentioned above. They are similar and consistent. Do not use this company. They are fraudulent, dishonest and taking client’s money after we discover the deception. Shocking what they have done to so many people. I am sharing my story in hopes that others will not find themselves in the same bind as I when reputable companies are not available on short notice.

Long-distance move from Dallas, TX to Chicago, IL

SCAM

AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS!

Many problems with this broker:

1. I was quoted $7,000 and when the moving company they contracted (Jackson Movers) arrived, they said it was an underestimate and that it would be $10,700. How a 1 bedroom, 1,000 sqft condo can go from 650 to 1,000 cubic feet of mostly lightweight Ikea furniture is beyond me, however, I had to sign a new contract and new estimate with Jackson Movers or they would not complete the move. I asked the movers to measure or weigh my belongings, however they refused to do so. My schedule was too tight and it was too late of notice to argue, so I signed and allowed them to load the truck. I later complained to New Leaf and no follow-up was performed until it was time for delivery and I made a second complaint. They submitted and inquiry but I am waiting to see if they will refund me for the gross overestimate.

2. I was originally told by New Leaf that I would have a smaller truck pick up and deliver my belongings (as opposed to a semi truck). A smaller truck did come for loading. However, after pickup Jackson movers later transferred my things into a semi truck. They could not deliver to my new address because of the size of the semi and charged me an additional $1,000!!! I called New Leaf to resolve the issue and they did NOTHING about it. They said it was up to the discretion of the driver. However, I spoke to my leasing office who confirmed that semi trucks had delivered to the address before!! Jackson Movers would not release my belongings until I paid IN FULL BEFORE UNLOADING IN CASH OR MONEY ORDER. THIS IS A SCAM. They make you pay this way because they are holding your belongings hostage and know you will pay whatever they ask and won't be able to contest the charges!!!!

3. I was initially told my New Leaf that delivery process would start prior to the time I arrived at my address so that the spread (Estimated delivery date) would be 5-7 days after that. THIS WAS NOT COMMUNICATED TO THE MOVING COMPANY. When the new contract was created, they said that first date of delivery was the time the move would initiate, not when it would arrive, which put me back 5 days I was sleeping on the floor in an empty apartment!!

4. Customer service DOES NOT CARE ABOUT YOU. They do not care to resolve any issues, They will only refer you to statements in the contract THAT WAS SIGNED UNDER DURESS. They do not care what was promised to you, how to improve or make it better, and if you refuse to PAY EVERYTHING UP FRONT IN CASH, they will keep all of your things and THREATEN TO CHARGE YOU FOR STORAGE AND RE-DELIVERY.

Awful

My salesman gave me a low ball bid and pressured me to sign the contract. He asked for a moving date and I told him I did not have a date yet, that it could possibly be 10 months later, he said no problem and said it would be a floating date but he needed to put down a pickup date, I again told him I did not have date yet. So he said no problem he would just put down a date and just put one in, I asked if anything would happen if the date was going to be months later, he again assured me that it was not a problem. I asked if it were months later would I be penalized and he said no I would not be penalized at all. I finally agreed and he said he needed a deposit of one third of the total, I objected to paying a deposit and he said nothing would happen to it, he then explained I could only lose 5% if I canceled the move altogether, his only concern was the deposit and not me. I emphasized I did not want to lose my deposit and he assured me that could not happen. I agreed and then they brought someone on the line that reviewed the contract. She went over the details and I expressed the same concerns I had with the salesman, that I had no pickup date, that it could be up to a year, she assured me it was ok! I told her the salesman put the pickup date it and that there wa no way that date was good. She said all I had to do was change the pickup date, I asked if I would be penalized and she said NO, the most I could lose was 5% and that was only if I canceled the move. So we hung up, with me understanding I could change the date as I needed. That I would not lose my deposit, only 5% and that would only happen if I canceled.

Well as it has worked out I had to cancel the move entirely and now they refuse to give back my deposit because I changed the pickup date! I was assured by my salesman and the lady that went over the contract. The didn't even have the professionalism to call me, the sent an email from customer service.

This company pressured me to sign a contract by lying to me over and over again. I do not think they can be trusted, nothing but a pack of liars and thieves in my opinion!
