Great Con

I am a veteran and needed to move after coming to near end of lease of a simple 2-bedroom apartment. I gave was given a deposit of 1600 hundred dollars for a little over 400 square feet (which size comes to 2 lines, as shown in the photos from the box to the rear of the vehicle) and when the movers arrived said I needed 3 times the space which was an additional 4 grand. I hope no one else gets hustled this badly and stays clear of this company. They felt no need to reimburse or give me partial reimbursement on the deposit despite their negligence to give a good estimate after a thorough inventory was provided. Stay clear. I only gave 1 star because they scammed me so well. You have to applaud the legal hustle.

Still haven't received my refund check

I cancelled my order # Y2471975 on 6/20/2022. After that I moved to a different state and called the customer service to modify my address also. The customer service told me it took about three months to send out the check and mine was in the next batch. My last interaction with them was around October, and after that I called a few times but no one picked up. Now it's February- it's been ~7 months but still haven't received the check.

The inventory you had provided us with at booking was only consisting of 55 pcs. when the crew was on-site there was over double the amount. With your contract being based on volume/space, the driver must charge for any additional volume/space. We were unaware that there was an issue with your pickup until the following day when you sent an email to cancel your pickup.

DO NOT USE THESE CROOKS

This is the most dishonest and awful company I have ever worked with. When beginning the moving process, I was very nervous to hire movers because I am typically a do-it yourself person but when talking to this company they sold me on the convenience, labor, and ease it would provide to use them. IT HAS BEEN NOTHING BUT THAT.

First, they sent another company to come and load my things onto the truck. On my contract, I had 100 boxes quoted, I only had around 25~ for the movers to load. After loading my things, they charged me an additional $1000 stating that I took up too much room on the truck. While trying to argue it, the man yelled at me stating that he will 'leave my things on the street'. Me being a tiny, scared single woman had to agree.

DURING THE NEXT MONTH, navistar moved my items to 3 DIFFERENT MOVERS.

I had to navigate the different communication with these companies trying to locate my things with absolutely no help from navistar. Each company was worst then the last.

FINALLY I have a set date that my items will arrive at my new address, and the company calls me to tell me that it will cost an additional $800 because my street is hard to access and they will need to use another truck OR I can rent my own truck and labor to pick it up from them somewhere in CA.

This has been the biggest nightmare. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY OR TRUST THEM.

Workout okay, but be careful

I used Navistar Van Lines as a moving broker for my move from Washington, DC to Upstate NY. The sales associated, Dustin, was very nice and provided a lot of information, however, the information he gave me about the delivery time frame and details were very misleading (if not an outright lie). TL;DR everything ended up working out okay - our stuff was eventually delivered after a month (19 business days) and we only paid $200 more than the estimate, but this experience cause me more stress and anxiety than if we had just paid more to use reputable movers or moved everything ourselves.

I knew from doing my research that a lot of cross country moves involve your stuff being put in storage before being delivered to your final destination with other people’s stuff, and could take weeks to get delivered. But Dustin from Navistar Van Lines assured me that he had a small box truck lined up that would pick up our stuff (only our stuff) and go straight to NY within 2 days. Now, I knew this was likely too good to be true, but Dustin did give me the best price out of all the brokers and movers I called, so my boyfriend and I figured we’d take a chance since we were just putting our belongings in storage and didn’t need them right away. Dustin also said that Navistar is a mover and a broker (even though they are only registered as a broker with the DOT) and that they only use “their guys and their trucks” meaning employees of Navistar would be the mover - which was false and I believed is a deceptive business practice. I also felt a little iffy about submitting the deposit by taking a picture of a check I wrote and emailing it to the company, but that’s what I was asked to do and again, it did eventually work out.

The moving company that Navistar Van Lines hired to do the move was Revolution Van Lines. Of course because we used a broker we did not find out the company’s name until the day before the move - so I looked them up and they have a ton of fake reviews on their Facebook page (fake profiles left the reviews) and bad reviews elsewhere, but we had no choice at that point unless we wanted to lose our deposit. Revolution Van Lines came when they said they would and wrapped and padded everything better than I expected. Unfortunately, one of the movers broke a piece of our sectional couch that allows one side to connect with the other but there’s really nothing they/we can do about it because we only have the free limited insurance (6 cents per pound per article).

I gave them a first available delivery date of 1/21 and a latest of 2/13. Keep in mind it’s completely legal for a moving company to take 30 business days to delivery your items (per the research I did on the DOT website). I didn’t hear from the moving company until 2/7 that they were starting to find a truck to deliver our stuff. I was told I would get a call from the driver on 2/13 about when they would deliver but didn’t get a call. I did get a call the morning of 2/15 and was told they’d be arriving that night. They showed up within the window they said they would and unloaded. Everything appears to be in good condition (but it was also dark when they got there).

Overall, I would not use a moving broker again, just for the anxiety this experience caused me wondering if we were going to get scammed like so many horror stories out there. I’m very glad that everything worked out okay in the end. COMPLETE SCAMMER BS ARTISTS

This seems to be a trend on here… I only wish I would have seen these reviews beforehand. My story: I was looking for a cross country move for my Recording Studio. Their guy Dustin (who was SO nice and accommodating UNTIL he got my deposit), gave me an estimate, assured me it would be 3 guys who had experience in moving delicate sound equipment, and that I would have their personal cell phones and be able to contact them every step of the way. Also that it would be in its own 16 foot box truck and not share with anyone, as I don’t want multiple offloading with sensitive equipment. He quoted me $4, 900 with 2450 due as a deposit. Day of the move comes, some random trucking company shows up , with an 18 wheeler NOT the size truck Dustin assured me, with workers who barely speak english, are throwing my stuff around -I had to yell at them to be careful. And after all my stuff was loaded out of my old studio, and half wasn’t even on the truck, he says I’m “out of space” based on cubic footage estimate. (I had no way to really know how much I was using on the truck, since it was already loaded with OTHER STUFF. The guy then puts me on the phone with his “Boss” who then says I OWE HIM AN ADDITIONAL $5,000!!!!!! I call Dustin-OF COURSE he’s now nowhere to be found. Called him 20 times that day. At this point I have a deadline to get out of my old space, and have no choice but to pay these crooks the money. Then my stuff doesn’t show up for 2 weeks, when I go to click on the original contract link it goes to a basically blank page that only says saying “congratulations on your move! Call customer service for any questions” THATS IT. IT DOESNT EVEN GIVE THE NUMBER. I couldn’t get anyone to answer me for days. Finally I get a VERY rude girl on the phone, who snaps at me “ITS A CROSS COUNTRY MOVE IT CAN TAKE UP TO A MONTH TO GET THERE!!!” Meanwhile, the movers that were hired to move out house took 5 DAYS to get our entire house across the country.

Long Story short, I got SCAMMED FOR an additional $5000 and Dustin lied to me every step of the way just to get my business, then disappeared when I actually needed help and answers. DO NOT USE THESE SCAM ARTISTS AND GRIFTERS.

Class Action

My story is similar to most of these reviews. We should get together and have a class action suit for our money. I am out $963 because I could not afford the doubled price they wanted day off. We had exact items on estimate but added 2 sweepers and the cost doubled. We may not get our money back but we can contact www.bbb.org and have an attorney look into this. There are power in numbers.

We made the quality assurance call a few days before the move so the drivers would have an accurate inventory of your items. An estimate is given based on the amount of space your items occupy in the truck. The fact that you may decide to move items last-minute and have to add them to your inventory is completely understandable. We will charge for additional items or space your items take up in the truck. The drivers can always pickup only the original space reservation. Bookings and estimates are sent to the crew after the inventory is reviewed by the customer. As you booked this inventory, you reviewed and signed it off, and Scott reviewed it during our quality assurance call. We regularly review items and update the size data based upon averages of items currently available in the market. Discrepancies can arise if items are larger than standard-sized items if this information is not disclosed. Inaccurate descriptions of items can also lead to difficulties during the estimation process. As an example, your couch was estimated based on an estimate for a 2-piece sectional of 8 feet in length. Beware - The Reviews are accurate

Estimate was grossly underestimated .

I was very clear on all items to be moved , and reviewed this list several times just to be sure .

Was given the 2 day window of 3/4 or 3/5. i called on Wednesday afternoon and spoke with a gentleman in QA who confirmed a friday 3-4 pickup date .

i also have an email in writing stating the same .

When thursday rolled around with no call for a confirmation delivery window on Friday , i was told by customer service it would be saturday the 5th .

I was also informed that QA gentleman is not dispatch , so he can’t provide eta on delivery schedules . not sure why he does then - and looks like some training may be in order for staff .

Since this is an out of state move , this impacted our travel plans and hotel stays significantly . we lost our original hotel room , and there was no other availability in nearby hotels that are pet friendly .

we were also informed by customer service the driver once he arrives will be able to give an eta for destination delivery . They were not able to do that either . could be 3, 5,7 or 10 days - maybe longer - no one knows .

Here we are saturday and the movers show up with an estimate of double what we were given .

there are 2 items i added from estimate - a small lamp and a lawn chair .

i can refuse service , and pack myself into a uhaul , but then i lose my deposit , due to the fact i have to be moved by tomorrow i am kind of stuck paying the additional charges .

I was also charged 160.00 for boxes , special dining room crate and TV crate .

no boxes were provided . the special crate and packing of the table materials was an extra moving blanket .

I also paid 20.00 extra on my deposit to make it an even amount , which i had a receipt for . movers said since it was not listed on estimate they can not deduct it .

movers who came were great and efficient , but that is not navistar .

Not one thing this broker told me was the truth .

Just beware - as based on previous reviews this is exactly what you will get.

PS - i had 3 other estimates come in for this same job from the same system - different companies . same items , but QF was estimated by almost 200 more QF. i have evidence of these estimates also . the other estimates were pretty close in price to what i received from navistar.

First - navistar is disputing negative reviews on this page .

received my delivery today . I over paid my deposit when booking the service by 19.00 and some change . contacted customer service who assured me that this would be removed from my total amount due upon delivery . customer service in writing that they could they would email the delivery service , and that navistar had made the adjustment .

made my money orders out for payment minus that 19.00.

drivers refused to unload truck until i paid that 19.00 .

navistar customer service response in writing was they will go back to billing and see what they can do.

while this was less than 20.00, it’s principal especially after the double of the price of original estimate .

i also requested customer service at navistar review the estimate they provided against delivery service , and that would take 3-5 business days. today is business day 5 , and i have heard nothing .

the delivery drivers were demanding more money on top of what was provided in bill of lading . these tens were :

1.mileage was over ( not sure how this is my issue - navistar calculated the mileage based on the addresses of origin/destination ). interestingly enough , navistar had the mileage wrong - it was inflated like their estimate . when i questioned this in writing , was told no idea how it was calculated as it was wrong . super solid for sure .

2. reassembling my washer and dryer will cost extra . again , thought estimate included broken down and reassembled . they unassembled it at origin.

3. anything over 7 stairs is 250.00 . again , i had stairs at origin and it wasn’t a problem .

the drivers and assistants came unprepared to assemble my bed and remove the moving blankets .

they had no tools , not even a box cutter to remove tape off of things .

they left tape on a majority of stuff .

i let them use our tools , and they stole them !!!

while navistar preaches contract , we are just the broker , etc - to cover them selves legally , this is still dishonest and unethical . it’s overall bad business .

while i had the means to pay for this grossly over estimated estimate , i know many aren’t . how many people are out hundreds of dollars for deposits

made to navistar who were also grossly underestimated ? if they can’t afford the new estimate when at origin , the driver can’t load you , and navistar considers that a refusal and your deposit is forfeited.

one more thing - what are the odds that almost 25 percent of their 5 star reviews for different customers all have the same title “all did well” ?

pretty sure the odds are 0

- you do the math .

It is expected that the final paperwork at delivery will include an inventory list, as this would be required if there are any damages. According to the notes on the file, there was an additional charge at pickup because of the need for special packing to protect your items. It does not appear that I have been charged for additional miles, but there was an additional fuel surcharge. The fuel surcharge is determined by the amount of space used within the truck. An increase in the fuel surcharge may result if extra space is required at the time of pickup. Reassembly, hookup, or disconnecting of appliances is not covered by the contract. In cases where the tools and services are available at the time of delivery, these services will be provided at an additional cost. SCAM!!!! DO NOT USE!

SCAM! They bait and switch you! They are a broker and have other companies actually move your stuff. Quoted me at 3,396 and made me pay half over Venmo or Zelle. They do this so you can't get the money back ever even if they do a terrible job. Movers came to pickup and were 6 hours late. I had to help them move the things as well. They quoted the move at over 5k, 1700 more than what they said. Had to throw out things so that it was only 4,653. Movers said I could pay by CC but then changed and had pay 1800 by Zelle. Told the movers boss that I was told I could pay by CC and he told me to come get my stuff from LA if I couldn't pay by Zelle or wire transfer! He told me it would be 1200 just to get my stuff. I ended up paying the 1800 and the balance at delivery. They damaged my stuff and put things together wrong! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!

This company has lied to us since the moment we spoke to them. They quoted us one thing and then did a bait and switch. The movers the contracted with are totally unprofessional. They don't keep in touch and surprise you with deliveries. AVOID AT ALL COSTS! this company is shady and does not provide any customer service. Horrible company to work with. What kind of company tells you on a Saturdayt at 1130am that they will be there in 20 minutes and you need to have $1800 on hand!

Scam artist

Multiple red flags heavy pressure to sign a contract that differs greatly from their promises. DO NOT electronically send checks or debts as I did. I pointed out contractual differences during the 72 hour cancellation period but was ghosted afterward. One week after contract they are keeping all of my $1848 deposit! They are lying, scamming a senior, Veteran, and clergy person. Buyer beware! Know your rights before contracting.

Late for showing by a day and a half and then refusing to refund deposit

I booked with Navistar with a Sunday ok'd for my move. We had a tight schedule on our end with my wife needing to return to work and me starting a brand new job upcoming.. Well, they pushed our move date out a full day, AFTER I booked. THEN, showed up OUTSIDE of the time window that they gave. I wouldn't have booked with them if I knew it was going to push us a day out of our schedule! ALSO... they told us three different times it would be closer to 12 than 25 but they didn't show up until 5:45 p.m. we were going to be okay if they were to show up at 12 but since it was 5 hours after that put us Beyond a bind and into a ditch, as far as the schedule goes..so they still insisted they were keeping the deposit. It cost my wife an unscheduled and UNPAID day off of work. If you don't hold up your end of the bargain,, then you shouldn't be able to KEEP THE DEPOSIT.. And they DIDNT CARE. they just kept saying it was an ETA. Well our SCHEDULE MATTERS . and they acted as if it didnt.. I WANT MY 1250.00 BACK.

This a rip off company, who have no business ethics and a sense to do the right thing. They out source to third party companies and NAVISTAR gets a high percentage to be a broker, I don’t know what it is, but based up a $6,000 price for half a box truck, I would estimate to be a high percentage. NAVISTAR have high pressure sales people who sell a truck and loaders at specific estimate and demand a deposit as soon as possible, during a couple more calls and interviews, my estimate grew from $4,999 dollars to over $6,000, and based upon their calculation, my 5 room apartment, was going to fit into half a 26ft box truck, or 1000 cubic feet. When I told them my furniture wouldn’t fit and I wasn’t going to pay the increase, I cancelled the reservation. Upon request for the refund of my deposit, they refused to give me back the $1,849 dollars I deposited. So basically, they tried to cram my personal belongings into 14ft (half a box truck) for $6,000. At no point did anyone at the company say that the deposit was none refundable until after I did not agree to continue to pay them more money and cancelled. Very bad experience. I sent a lengthy email to customer service asking for a manger to contact me to discuss my account and I just sent back a copy of the agreement with the cancellation policy attached.

Worst ever!! Liars and scammers

I called got a quote from Larry Cooper who would be my contact person once paid never answered my calls.

They came to pick up my belongings now instead of 20 boxes I had 35 But I was not takin in the dining room set, patio furniture or a buffet! Now the price has doubled!!!! I was charged for 800 sq ft!

Negative Stars! Do not hire this company! Update

This is in response to the Navistar's response to my initial review. We received no such compensation of any sort and no mention of the inconvenience you caused us. No apologies or attempts to rectify the situation. YOU ARE LYING. PURE AND SIMPLE. I am hoping that anyone reading this would understand our frustration especially with what our family was going through at the time. The representative that we dealt with was completely apathetic and borderline obnoxious. Your response does not justify what your company did. A moving company should be held to the dates within the contract OR WHY HAVE A CONTRACT?!

Do NOT Use

Booked with them to move from the Midwest to the east coast. Did a complete walkthrough of a 5 bedroom house with a basement and outdoor living space. We provided them with a complete inventory list and they generated a quote based on their calculated cubic-feet. They had a great price and we went with them. The day of the move, to our surprise, a subcontracted-mover showed up (not Navistar) and demanded and additional $6000 otherwise they were leaving. When we called Navistar they would not engage or answer any questions but said we should pay the extra fee. The moving truck was way too small based on the items in the quote (the driver said it was a truck for a 3 bedroom house). One of the worst experiences of my life.

Do Not Use Them!!

Our kids were moving from South Dakota to Georgia and for 3 days they said they would call when they were an hour away! I knew by the second day they had been scammed! Go and read the reviews on The Better Business Bureau! Someone needs to stop these people from taking advantage of hard working families. I believe this company should be investigated by Dateline and all these people they scammed out of money can share their awful story. If my kids don’t get their deposit back then I will expose these crooks so no else gets taken advantage of. Shame on you!

ZERO help after the sale

Never use this company to move your 83-year old mother. They will subcontract to a company that you will have no control or way to handle any issues that will come up. In my case, they subbed to a company with HUNDREDS of Better Business Bureau complaints for damaged goods and horrible treatment. The dispatcher, Alex became so angry when I simply asked clarifying questions that he began yelling obscenities at me and hung up on me without answering questions! When I followed up with Navistar customer service, they simply did not care nor was of ANY help whatsoever! Navistar sells a good story up front and Nicholas Demarco will sound believable to make the sale, but they will not live up to all of his promises. DO NOT TRUST this company with your move.

DO NOT USE THEM!!

This is the worst moving service i have ever dealt with the people that set your move up are brokers make you all kinds of promises and then take you deposits and give u wrong estimate on space needed. The driver showed up and told me it would be an additional 2000 because they did not estimate the space needed correctly, for a total of 6000 to move 3 hours ! Then they promise to take things apart and put them back together and when the driver called me told me that it’s to much labor and takes to much time so he won’t be doing that ! He showed up with his cousin who did not even work for the company ! the customer service girls were rude every single time we called. Completely nasty and offensive, they then tried to say we must of lied about our inventory! Then said “I let you talk for quit a long time, and your still not getting your deposit back” so we have to get a uhaul and make 2 trips from Cincinnati to Cleveland, they don’t communicate with you the entire process and the girls that do answer the call lines as I stated are just rude and should not work in customer service! They still your money and try to keep getting more out of you

! Do not use this company stay far away ! Complaints are being made to better business bureau!

Never Showed up three days!

I was contacted at the beginning multiple times to go with this company, when I did I was asked what day would I like to be moved? I scheduled a day. I was contacted by various people going over a moving list understandable. The day I was scheduled to move no one showed up. I finally got a hold of customer service and was told we never give a one day Window; it could be the day before or a few days after how does anyone plan on something like this when you’re taking off work to make it happen. At that time I was told tomorrow which was a Sunday. OK I wait around the house Sunday no one shows I have a difficult time contacting anyone finally I was told oh no not today Monday. I wait till 9 o’clock Monday no one shows up so I call oh let me locate your driver he’ll be there at noon ??‍♂️Numerous calls on the way 12:15, 45 miles out 2pm, eating lunch 4 pm, 70 miles out 6pm, phone silence. 3 days of this crap. Paid 1,676.00 up front to book. SCAM!!! Negative rating F-

If i could give this a -10 I would

I was moving from LA county to Montana .I told them how much stuff we had and they gave me a price of 5500 for the move. They lied and up charged another 3.5k . They damaged my new washer and Dryer. They damaged my husbands tool box and lost our new in the box bed frame. they damaged my computer chair. I told them we were going to be living in a hotel. they called to extort us and gave us hours to find a place for our stuff they also said we had to pay the remains 3.5 k or they would auction our stuff off. horrible guy that owns it. I want to start a class action against the company and sue for damages.

Sold my contract to another company

Paid for a move from California to Colorado with Peter. Peter was pushy and demanding. Their contracts are outdated and they tell you different things on the phone, and have you sign a contract that says other. It takes minimal effort for a company to change their website so that was my first red flag. After payment, Peter stopped returning my calls, radio silence. They called to update my items list and I took a fridge OFF the list and without telling me- my total went up $100. Calling their hotline no one would tell me why and of course, Peter was a ghost. I figured out that they sold my contract to a different moving company who had no idea what we paid for (help packing, boxes, larger items) and would charge on the spot for things. We cancelled and got a pod.

They also are not rated on the BBB so they cannot be reported.

Navistar Van Lines (Chris) claimed they were an actual moving company with trucks. They said they had a big rig which they would take out of commission for the entire month in case we needed to change our move date, since we would be utilizing the whole big rig. They did a full inventory over the phone (including measurements of every piece) and told us there would be a live walk through just prior to the move, knowing they rushed me to sign a contract stating I waive that right. They originally quoted us $13,100 to move 2 5-bedroom homes from Arizona to South Carolina and required a deposit by check only. They pressured us to secure a deposit, saying that there were many people moving right now and we needed to lock in our truck. I asked for time to review the contract before signing, but was pressured to get it done so we could receive the purported discounts. 5 days before the move they called to verify our inventory. There was no in-person walk through as we had been told there would be. After initially removing some of our inventory in order to give us the initial lower estimate, the second inventory call resulted in a new estimate of $18,800, requiring a second deposit of $2,500 by check only.

We began to be suspicious at this point, but they already had our deposit, so we crossed our fingers. On the day of the move, unknown movers showed up with 2 trucks that were unmarked and not 1 Navistar Van Lines big rig. We were expecting 1 big rig, but thought the 2 smaller trucks would suffice. After loading half of our belongings onto one of the trucks, we were informed that they didn't bring the 2nd truck for our move, and that we were only quoted for 1 of the trucks they brought. They then told us that we had omitted an entire household from the inventory we provided. We were then told that our move would not cost the updated amount of $18,800, but would now cost $35,000, to be paid in cash. We told them to unload our belongings from their truck as we could not proceed with their services. They tried to hold our belongings on their truck until we paid them $2,500 in cash. We called the police and our belongings were roughly and angrily removed from their truck. Navistar tried to convince us that the movers often overestimate not to worry, it wouldn't cost us that much. They also tried to convince us to allow the movers to take half our belongings to South Carolina and make other arrangements for the other half of our belongings that would still be in Arizona. When we declined, they informed us that we would not receive our deposit as we only had 3 days from the date of signing to cancel.

Every detail we discussed over the phone was a lie, except for the date they would pick up our belongings. They rushed me into signing the contract knowing full well that the contract I was signing did not, even somewhat, represent the conversation we were currently having. They lied about their function, their years in business, their fleet of trucks, their processes, their estimates, and on and on. They have fake reviews to further defraud the public.

Thieves

Hired them to move belongings Evan though they gave me an email stating that we had the entire 20’ truck at no extra charge, the quality control man said no we will have to charge you more than double the quote you originally received. I said I have an email from the young liar who sold the move to us saying we get the entire 20’ truck at no extra cost. They said he didn’t have the authority to send that. I said well he sent it and now they will not honor it and we are stuck because we can’t afford the new cost to move and they said too bad you are not getting your money back. Apparently everyone there lies to steal your money. That’s why they will not accept credit cards because they know the credit card company will not let them get away with not providing a service and not giving the money back even though they did nothing.

Stay clear from this fraudulent company. Hire a real company that actually does care about the people not these snakes.
