Moving Experience

Absolutely, AWFUL. I had a very short move that was literally less than 2 miles away and they could not even handle such a short move. Very "unprofessional" and nothing what I EVER expected. IT WAS A NIGHTMARE. I do not even know where to begin with all the damage. First, they damaged my wood floor. They scraped up the entire floor and cracked my door saddle, because the one mover dragged my very expensive Macy's cherry wood closet armoire across the floor. They did not even rap the bottom. Then I had to leave the closet armoire outside in front of the condo because the crew not only damaged the armoire, but could not handle lifting it. The crew broke my very expensive Travertine table. Two sides of the table were severely damaged and cracked. They new what they did and tried to hide the damage, by facing the damaged part of the table on the opposite end where it would take some time to notice it. They also left that part of the table partly wrapped.

The crew damaged the speaker to my Sony sound system by placing my woofer directly on top of the speaker while they were unwrapping it. They scraped the entire top. One of the movers attempted to put together my cherry wood sleigh bed and did a terrible job. They also scratched up my sleigh bed when they dragged my box spring directly over the bed. The kid literally just dragged the box spring over the cherry wood bed frame. They also damaged the front door to my new condo and some minor scuffs on my couch. One of the gentleman also told me he worked for Capital Bank and Nationwide hired him as a mover. This kid, basically had his headphones on the entire time and did not do very much. The company had the audacity to charge me the entire price for the move and I am literally lost thousands of dollars because of all the damage. I no longer have my cocktail table, which was not fixable and my beautiful closet armoire was left outside, where it was rained on that same night and ruined. Nationwide Van lines sent me a very UNPROFESSIONAL crew and there is no way these guys were professional movers. This was the absolute worst experience ever moving. I have never experienced anything like this. When you look at their website, they come across as so professional. Its the exact opposite.

Official company response

Hi Louis,

We apologize for the overall negative experience in which you encoutered on your recent relocation . We were unable to settle your claim and or assist with repairs to your structural damage due to the fact that you disputed pretty much the entire cost of your move via the card you used for your final transaction. A shipper must pay the final balance prior to initiang a claim. We have a chargeback from your card company.

As for the cherry wood armoire, you mentioned to the owner of our firm at origin if he had interest in taking away your armoire. Seems it was too large to fit into your new residence. Our crew had the ability to lift it and deliver it to your new residence.

Ths shipper refused our full valutaion protection plan back on 05-13-21. This coverage at a zero deductable adding to the quote $439.20 would cover any repairs at no additional cost. Also covers a furniture piece replacement of a like kind and or quality at no additional cost.

The shipper has our basic .60 cents per lb per article coverage.

We are compensating at .60cents per lb per article for the damaged travertine table/Speaker scratches/ Sleigh bed scratches.

We are adding additional funds for the structual damage for a total refund back to the shipper for a full and final settlement of $300.00

We again apologize for any and all inconveniences that this may have caused

Respectufully

Long-distance move from Florida to North Carolina

Excellent, hassle-free move.

I had to move from Florida to NC. I was worried about the move as I have lots of household stuff, and had heard about unprofessional, overcharging and unreliable movers. However, my experience with Nationwide was totally opposite to that. Right from the quote process to pick-up (including packing and loading) to delivery, it was very well managed, efficient and done with care. The folks who came for pick up & delivery handled my stuff as they would handle their own; they even re-packed couple of cartons that I had as they thought it needed more tape; helped me get down the ceiling lights; helped clean up the apartment after pick-up and delivery, and were courteous and smiling - which is a relief as my family was also around. Also, on the day of pick up it was raining very heavily in Florida, so they had to double wrap in plastic all the stuff, carry it out slowly to the truck, watch out for standing water etc etc.. even the rains did not stop them for long.
Very pleasant and efficient service - will ask them again to handle my move. Unfortunately, they handle only east coast moves.
One suggestion I have is: once the initial quote process is done, they need to assign you to the moving specialist to schedule the move and work out other details. I did not get that assigned and after the advance payment, I tried calling back the quote specialist, but he did not return my calls. Finally after 2-3 days I was contacted by them and the move process started.

Long-distance move from Florida to Virginia

Highly Recommend.

I could not have wished for a more pleasant, knowledgeable, honest, professional and courtesy experience with moving.  Everyone from sales, customer service, management and drivers were ideal, making my interstate transition as stress-free as possible. From the initial quote of $1,614.00 to delivery, there were no huge surprises; of course, I like many underestimated the number of boxes I anticipated (quote was for 20) and the actual moved boxes equalled 34, so there was an additional charge and total move cost was $1764.00.  Every item arrived free of damage and the timeline of four days from Miami Beach, Florida to Richmond, Virginina was completely within reason, as I drove out of Miami myself two days later, allowing me the time necessary to arrive in Richmond to greet the truck myself. I highly recommend Nationwide Van Lines and should another major move be necessary, I will call them again.

Long-distance move from New York to Florida

Worst Moving Company Ever.

This move went bad from the first day the movers arrived to pack my household goods. Originally I was told it would be one day of pack and move the next day. Instead they packed and moved in the same day despite a rule in our condo that all moves need to be completed by 5 pm they kept working until 9 pm giving me my first headache from their actions. When contracted I was told storage which we needed for 3 months would take place in Plantation, Fl, it was a key reason I chose this company. Instead the goods were stored in Hackensack, NJ. When I needed a box that got swept up int he move and was not left for me to take by car I could not get to it at all. The driver even showed me web pictures of where my goods would be stored in Florida and yet never told me they were really going to New Jersey. Finally upon delivery I discovered that two expensive pieces, one a brand new Herman Miller Eames Chair cost $3999 and a BDI Media Center costing $1500 were damaged in the move. From the damages it was obvious it was from rough handling. I did take out replacement value insurance but of course repair of these items came to $1000 and the insurance has a $500 deductible so the move just cost me $500 more and I have two pieces of furniture that are not worth their original value. I would not recommend this company. My experience has been awful. I did my home work and found no bad reviews for this company but considering my experience I wonder why there are only good reviews posted for this company.

Long-distance move from Massachusetts to Delaware

Great company, great experience.

Nationwide was the only long distance moving company I found online with all positive reviews, so I was very hopeful that it would work out they were available when I needed them.  They bent over backwards to accommodate my very small window of time for pick up in MA.  When the crew showed up to move my items, they were very friendly and organized.  My items ended up taking up more space than I had estimated, so they even put an extension on the back of the truck to allow me to take more.  Nick and his crew worked so hard to wrap the furniture and utilize all the space possible in the truck.  The next day at delivery (which was at a warehouse), they worked methodically again to carefully unpack and stack my belongings to take up as little space as possible.  I spent $6000 for my move and it was worth it- great customer service and people in every aspect of the move.  I never plan on moving long distance again, but if I did, I would not hesitate to use them again, and I would recommend to anyone who was looking for movers.

Long-distance move from Rhode Island to South Carolina

Nationwide Van Lines.

I was very pleased with my experiance with this company. They were prompt and professional on pickup and very easy to deal with. They aheared to their initial quote but I had to pay they approximtely $450 in for additional items I had not included in this quote for a total moving fee ofr $2,149.80.  Delivery took a bit longr than I expected but I think it probably falls within their average time for a long distance move. People should be aware that delivery will be delayed with any company that consoladates loads and that this is the reason their prices are significantly lower than door to door service. This is not a problem as long as you plan for it in advance. Nationwide had some damage to a table (that was not actually needed at my destination) but othe than that they did a great job and I would use them again.

Long-distance move from Florida to North Carolina

Excellent!! Highly recommend this company!

Best move I have ever experienced.  The driver and the gentlemen who accompanied him were on-time, courteous, friendly and most of all took excellent care of the furniture.  I have experienced some moves where I said never again - I'll get a u-haul and pack it myself however this company changed my whole attitude on moving.  From the initial phone call with Rachael to the signing of the last bit of paperwork with Nick, everyone was above professional.  If I could give more than 5 stars I would. .

Overall good movers.

Driver was misinformed by the mattress covers being included, but accepted what was in the contract. the truck sent was larger than ordered, but luckily it fit in both pick up and delivery driveways. otherwise, it was only five hours from arrival to finish of delivery/set-up from Miami Beach to Hallandale and nothing was damaged or lost. Much better experience than I had with ALL MY SONS four years ago, which was way over-estimate. Always demand binding agreement and don't let them add on charges. Availability of representative was very good on the phone and email with this company, and overall experience was very good in what is always a stressful undertaking.

Long-distance move from Pennsylvania to Florida

"Hook Me Up".

Our move of 1169.8 miles was the most stressfull move of our lives but what we didn't know at time was that we were in good hands from the begining. We first contacted Rachael approximatly one month before our move. Rachael stood by her word that eveything would be ok. She was very helpfull and tried to assure us that everything the company promised would be met. She had great confidence in her company. We were still a little nervous because of having a bad experience with previous moving companies. Her personality was comforting but all companies tell you what you want to hear not the reality of it all. We discovered that Racheal was genuine and at that point we should have left the moving experience up to her. With that I would advise anyone moving north or south of east coast to let go of your stress because Racheal will take care of everything. Enjoy your trip to your destination knowing "Racheal will hook you up". The moving team showed up on the day of the move. Daniel and his team took their time to treat our property as if it were their own. My obsessive, compulsive thinking still had me stressed for no reason so relax and let them do their job. All of my stress was unwarranted. The guys were great at what they do and do it well. Trust them to take care of your property. All three gentlemen were just that "gentlemen". They worked very hard. If they worked for myself I would make sure that they had no reason to work for another company. This is the result of how well they did their jobs. These guys take pride in their work and should be treated with respect. Sometimes people who work the hardest get the least acknowledgement. Racheal once again "hooked us up" with a great team of movers. Just like she promised. Guess What? Daniel and his team showed up again eight days later before their designated time frame at our new house!! With much surprise of my distrusting self. They brought evrything back into our new home with as much respect as they took it out of the old house. Racheal once again "hooked of us up" just like she said the company would do. This brings me to the overall experience. The move in which we stressed over will never happen again because I would use Nationwide Van Lines again. My next move will be stress free because I know Racheal, Daniel and the whole team will "hook me up". I will enjoy my destination instead of stressing over it. What could have been a great leisurely drive, I wasted it stressing over my distrust in movers. Therefore I would highly recommend this company to anyone looking for a stressfree move. Thanks Team, Lisa    .
