Long-distance move from Denver, CO to Dodgeville, WI

Items not received after 2 months

If I could give zero stars I would. I had my things picked up early December 2020.

When I first called and booked everything i was actually booking through what I though was a different company (American Standard Moving) and it turns out that they use a third party for the actual moving. Didn't know that until pick up day. When I called to schedule this I spoke with a broker named Mitch. He told me 3-5 days from pick up to delivery and that "our guys can do 500 miles in a day easy". Everywhere else was a couple weeks atleast so I went with them. I could not be several weeks without my things so I decided to go with them.

Pick up day comes around and they extorted me for an extra $300 since my daughter had her clothes in a bag instead of a box and they needed to box it. And they added $150 since she was on a 3rd floor apartment. I get stairs are annoying but I was transparent about this when I booked the move and the broker originally waived the fees. Not really having any other choice at the time I agreed to it. In hindsight I should have told them to take a hike and just eat my losses with my deposit.

The waiting game begins. I wait a week for my things and no word at all. I call them up and they say that a delivery driver hasn't been assigned yet but one should be assigned by Friday then my items will be on route. I told them I needed everything by Christmas and asked if it I should get it by then. They assured me I should have it by then. Christmas comes and goes. New years comes and goes. No delivery, not even a phone call. Basically from here on out I play this game where I call them once a week and they say I should be getting a call any day from the driver. At one point the truck broke down but the driver never called anybody to tell them so. I have been exceedingly patient and polite every time I talk to them but now I'm starting to lose it. I asked for a discount off my final bill. They offered a $50 discount. $50!!! That is an absolute joke. Honestly the only way they could make it right is if they canceled the final payment altogether. All of my daughters clothes, her bed, her laptop and gaming devices, and all her art supplies and her taxidermy is on that truck. She has been without a bed and clothes for about 2 months now. At what point does this become theft? It has been WELL past the reasonable expectation for delivery.

Where I am now...it is now early February and I was told I should be getting a call from the driver any day now. ?

Avoid this company.

We moved from Colorado to Texas. Unfortunately, we chose Midwestern Van lines. They picked our things up on 12/15/2017. Delivery date was 12/18/2017. We were charged more than our original quote. We paid the new asked amount. It is now 1/8/2018. WE STILL DO NOT HAVE OUR BELONGINGS. There is poor comunication. They still don't know when our stuff will arrive! I am recovering from surgery. My little boy is Autistic. We are sleeping on hard wood floors, because these people have our beds!! They have everything, even down to the Christmas tree, stockings and few gifts of toys. Its horrible! Please avoid the pain and suffering we are going through and chose another company.

Official company response

Hi Mary,

It is certainly not our intention for you to be feeling this way. The delivery window for a job with your mileage (900 miles) calls for a delivery window of up to 14 business day, which was reflected within your moving estimate that you signed at the time of your reservation with us. This is the required delivery time frame that we are required to offer per DOT regulation. Your FAD (first available delivery date) that you requested was 12/18). Per DOT guidelines, your delivery window starts from the time of your requested FAD. The first available delivery date is not a guaranteed delivery date, it is the soonest date that you stated that you were able to receive your items in Texas. Regarding your feeling that there was poor communication during the move, I must respectfully disagree with you. After reviewing the notes on your job file it is clearly documented that we spoke with you numerous times leading up to your delivery (the first time being the day after your pickup - and on that call we advised you that we did not have a delivery driver assigned yet which is very standard). We also spoke to you again every day for the next 4 days following that conversation letting you know that we were working on completing your delivery asap), and after that confirming that you items were in transit to your destination location. During the winter season it is difficult for any moving company to service pick ups in a location such as Colorado. We put a rush request on your delivery for no additional charge whatsoever, while communicating with you closely - and almost daily throughout the entire relocation.

I am sorry that you are not pleased, but I can assure you that we completed this delivery for you just as fast, if not faster than any other reputable company could have.

Warm Regards,

Your Customer Service Team.

Long-distance move from Denver, CO to Boca Raton, FL

Midwestern Van Lines is Amazing.

I just moved from Denver to Boca Raton Florida. I had booked a mover but two days before my move they called me and told me the price I was quoted wasn’t enough and turned my $3,500 move to $7000. I was shocked so I went online to eee what I could do. Thankfully I was helped by Sam Stone. He saved me. He got be booked for my original price and had me picked up In two days. His level of professionalism was way beyond my expectations. The truck showed up on time. They were super professional and a week later the same crew delivered my stuff to Florida and set up my new condo. Thank you Midwestern Van Lines and a special thanks to Sam Stone.

Long-distance move from Cheyenne, WY to North Carver, MA

Beware, Please!!

I do not give this company 1 star but there is not a button for 0 stars! This company will be nice at first just to get your business and your money! Do Not Use This Company, please. They are horrible. The guys who picked up my items were great and wrapped everything snuggly but that is where the niceties ended. My items were picked up on the 18th of July in Wyoming and delivered on the 8th of August to Massachusetts. My belongings switched vehicles 3 times! First off, Mid Western Van Lines quoted me 658 sq ft of space after I gave a detailed inventory. When they came to pick up my belongings (all of which were on the inventory to include verbally giving them dimensions over the phone) all of a sudden my items took up 900 sq ft which increased my price another $1,100! Secondly, they contracted my items to a third party company for delivery. They contracted Boost Express Van Lines who tried to get me to pay an extra $450 for a "delivery fee" which was not in my contract, that I had in hand. Needless to say I called the police because Boost Express would not give me my items until I paid $450 that was not in my contract. The police went over the contract with the drivers and calmed the situation down. I tried calling Mid Western a dozen times and no one answered. I emailed them and left voicemail messages; no response! They finally started to unload my items as I checked them off my inventory sheet and guess what? I AM MISSING 11 ITEMS FROM MY INVENTORY!! Also my grill is broken, my deep freezer has a huge gash in it, my $600 computer desk is broken and every box is dented and smashed!! Now I have to go to the police station and file reports and try to file claims with Mid Western Van Lines but I doubt I will ever see my missing items or any kind of reimbursement. I am in the military and have been for the last 9 years and have never run into anything like this before. Please do not use this company if you value your money and your personal items! I paid $4,493.26 for a garbage company who told me it was going to cost $3,337.11; Spent 2.5 hours with 5 police officers at my house; and lost some of my personal items just because I did not want to move it all myself this time. Do yourself a favor and move your items yourself! This is a headache and heartache I could have avoided if I had just chosen to do it myself. Oh and I also cancelled my credit card just incase the company tried to take even more money from me and I had to block a phone number from Boost Express Van Lines because their boss Yuri, whom I could not understand because of his accent, kept calling and yelling at me about paying his guys and saying he is going to sue me. I have every contract filled out and every dime that I was contracted to pay, has been paid. Never again will I use a moving company. I will never trust anyone else with my valuable possessions and I suggest you don't either!

Long-distance move from Cedar Rapids, IA to Derby, KS

Beware!

Beware of this company, they quoted us a price of 5872, had me sign contract for original never gave me a copy until they loaded my fur inter in a 26 ft. Moving trailer, they took the signed contract and jacked up the price to more than 12,000 dollars. Did not give me a 24 hour notice, He solicited help on Craig’s list to help move my furniture. I did not have all the money so he put my things in storage and took the key. The Florida Department of transportation investigated them because of 48 complaints. Took my contract back to the original quote and informed me I would have to pick up my own items. My things are still in storage because his name is on the unit and he has the key. Fill out complaints that the only way to get this company and others investigated.

Spoiled all house hold stuff I asked them to move.

I had to get relocated and I started exploring moving company. Unfortunately these guys also contacted me, I had almost finalized one vendor when sales person "Sean" from this company called me and convinced me to use their service with tall promises ,and told me that they are the best. Somehow I trusted him and it became the worst nightmare happened to me in recent time. I had taken packers and movers services from them and they told me that they will take care packing of my house hold stuff. At the time of pick up they did not pack my coutches and beds, when I asked them they told me that they would pack these goods in their store
and I don't have to worry at all as they are best in business and somehow I trusted them.
Also they had told me that within 10 days from my request they will deliver my goods.
When I requested them to deliver the goods(after their storage period got over), they tood almost 25 days to deliver my goods and they were very rude when I asked them to deliver or asked expected date. Finally I they deliver my goods and most of them were not packaged only or very minumum packing they had done.
Result is all my couches, bed, other stuff got scratches or spoiled. They even exchange one of my packet with sb ele and that packet was filled with just one old lamp.
When I complained about this they send me one link to claim my losses.
I registerd in that Claim website, and still strggling to get their node that they have received all the docuemnts.
They want their claim document, all the bills and photographs of my spoiled stuff but they don't accept muitiple files, no zip files.I wrote the couple of times to suggest me how should I send the relevant docuemnts they need to process my claim, they just send one standard answer docuemnt of these forms are not accepted.
I really doubt is it real claim system or here also some fake things are set up by these guys.
I am clue less what to do and how to get any claim for my spoiled stuff right now.
My high recommendation is please don't use this moving company. Photo of few items I have uploaded.

Veteran Move from Seattle to Orlando.

PLEASE DON'T USED THIS COMPANY! Let me start by saying that their customer service is horrible. I’m a service member of the US Army and move many times during my career. I never had such a bad experience as I been dealing with Midwestern Van Lines! I had a quote for less than $5,000.00 dollars and I ended up paying over $13,000.00 dollars. I flew from Orlando, Florida to Seattle, WA to had my household move. They knew that if they change the price I had no other option than to go through with the move. The customer service lines never responded or returned my calls. Jon Jameson the Senior Moving Consultant for Midwestern Van Lines was the one that quote me the $5,000 dollars and never even had the courage to return my call. The movers were horrible and broke and drop so many of my household good. Like I said before, please stay away from this company. They don’t even take care the troops, imagine what they will do to a regular civilian. Stay away from them!!

Crooked company needs to be shut down.

They are crooked and need to be shut down. They packed up our belongings which they did a well job. They gave us a date when our delivery would arrive. The driver called and said what time they would arrive. That day came and they never showed. Days went and we had no contact. We called the company and had no answer. Message after message left for day after day and no reply. 4 days later we receive a call from the driver saying they are an hour out. They arrive in a different truck. They open the truck and our belongings are falling from the truck. Boxes smashed open, furniture thrown every which way fishtank broken glass everywhere. They had no explanation. They unpacked our belongings on wet ground and snow. They unloaded heavy boxes on top of small boxes crushing them. Every piece of furniture was destroyed. Our empty safe was tampered with and would no longer open for us. Our attorney sent letters and phone calls and we have never had a reply.

Terrible experience!!

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! You will not get it anywhere near the time expected, both of my TV's were broken, boxes crushed, 4 snow tires and rims never delivered even though they sent pictures of where they were in Georgia, Tommy Hilfinger suitcase with several items inside never delivered.
Save yourself the headache and heartache and DO NOT USE Midwestern Van lines!! You can never reach anyone, there is no "home" office to talk to anyone, they absolutely do not have respect for anything. Oh and, your things go from storage facilities all over the state do who knows how many people are handling your belongings.
Make sure you take out a big insurance policy if you plan on using any moving company, I am out $2500 total now.

Long-distance move from Ames, IA to Weymouth, MA

Please read before you book with them.

I am just going to state the facts and let you decide if you want to risk using this moving service.
I worked on a quote with Paul from the Chicago office on my move from Iowa to Massachusetts. I was told that the quote I was given was guaranteed. I was told a van clearly marked with Mid Western Van Lines would pick up my things and deliver them to MA. I was told that Paul would be my go to person for the whole move and would always be available to me for question. I was told I would get 1 to 2 days notice both on pick up and on drop off. I was told my belongs would arrive in the condition they were in when picked up. I was told the price would be just over $3900 dollars. I paid a deposit of just over 2K and was told by balance was $1945, 1/2 due at pick up and 1/2 at drop off.
Now here is what occurred. The crew called on the back up day to say they would arrive in 20 minutes. They arrive an hour later in an unmarked truck. They walked around my apartment and wrote up paper work and told me I actually needed to give them $1500 on pick up and delivery. I called a supervisor since Paul did not return my call, text or email and the supervisor took $150 off the cost and I gave way a bedroom set and got the price down and gave the driver $1190. I asked the foreman if it was common to have the quote be off and he said yes. He said 50% of the time the quote is wrong. At the end of the process I was given a survey to rate the moving team with the statement that it was customary to tip the drives 5 to 10 percent of the cost. I tipped them 5% of the original cost.
On Wednesday I got a call saying it would be 2 to 7 days and I owed $1475. Obviously the $150 was just added back in. Then yesterday at 10 PM I was called and told my belongings would arrive today. I explained to the mover that I was not available between 1 and 4 today. So much for the 24 to 48 hour notice. He left me a message at 11:30 this morning and said he would be there at 12:40. He actually showed up just after 1 pm and I was not thrilled with changing my plans and well I wasn't my nicest. If I heard "I am just the driver" one more time or "I just got this last night from the other driver.. Now the storage building elevator was down so they had to take things in the back door and I got hit with a $75 long haul fee. They start unloading my belongings and I am noticing that legs (chairs, couches, dressers) are no longer covered and all scratched up. Then the boxes come out and they look like they had been thrown around and beat into weird shapes. My belongings had obviously been transferred multiple times. My dining room table is very damaged. My tv box has a HUGE gorge in it, who knows if it'll work when I get it out of storage. One box was totally open. Who knows if everything packed in it is still in it. My lamp boxes are so messed up I am afraid they are broken. I will spend tomorrow on the phone to file a claim for the damage but I have no hope that that process will be any easier than the move itself.
So no matter what your salesman tells you, his quote is not guaranteed. The final cost is determined by the driver that picks up your belongings. Unless you fill an entire truck your stuff will go to a consolidation unit and will be handled multi times increasing the risk of damage.
Buyer beware is what I would tell you. Unless you can pack everything and measure it all so there is no doubt on the cubic feet do not bother to use this service. 50/50 are really not good odds of getting the price right. And the drivers are trained well to say "I'm just the driver".

Annette.

Just to follow up, as stated previously the furniture was delivered to Fresno, not to the apartment, but left on the sidewalk, my husband had hired another company, but thought it would be picked up from a storage facility, but no it was unloaded on the sidewalk. Desperate times. Oh wait there was a balance due of 722.00 so guess all that was stated in "contract" was as the young people say is BS.

Long-distance move from Columbus, OH to Shelton, CT

The worst moving experience I ever had.

I moved from Ohio to Connecticut because of my new job. Very unfortunately, I chose Midwestern Van Lines. They picked up my stuff on 1/14/2018, and my requested delivery date was 1/18/18. Until this very date (2/13/18), I still don't have my belongs, and I've been sleeping on the floor and living out of one carry-on suitcase since 1/14/18. The communication was poor and not transparent from the company. I emailed dispatch manager initially, and received no responses. I tried to call the sales person that I talked, no responses. I ended up have to "constantly proactively" call the dispatch department through the 1-800# asking for my delivery status - because none of their associates would pick up the direct lines. Every time I called, I received the answer of "we will let you know once the driver is assigned, just wait for our call, right now we don't know when your stuff will be delivered" instead of providing a concrete solution of how to solve the issue. I also had to push very hard to speak with the supervisor (and not to mention, she failed to call me at least 4-5 times when her associates promised that she would call). I also found out that a lot of information dispatch department communicated might not actually be correct. In addition, the actual cost is $1,000+ more than what was estimated initially. The experience with Midwestern Van Lines has marked the worst moving experience I ever had, and I had moved numerous time in my life both across the country and oversea. This caused a lot of mental burden on my end, especially starting a new job at a new location. If I could give zero star rating, I would, unfortunately, that is not an option. Please consider carefully when you are choosing a moving company to help your move.

Stressful Move made easy.

My wife family and I had to move rather quickly across the country from Minnesota to San Diego California due to a great job opportunity. The Company gave me 10 days to report and I had no idea how we could do it, at least move our whole home so quickly. My wife put our information out for estimates to see how we can do this. Luckily she was reached out from Jon Jameson with Midwestern Van Lines. He was very professional and showed his concern to our situation. Luckily Midwestern was able to get us picked up with in a week. Now we didn't have a home yet, so they were able to store our belongings for a month free until we found a home of our own. Luckily once in California my wife, who is great was able to find us a home within a few weeks. We notified Midwestern and luckily they had a truck available to get us delivered. All being said, with the stress, Midwestern made this new venture for our family easy. we had received lower estimates but it came down to the service and how Jon made us feel at ease in this stressful time.

Long-distance move from Minneapolis, MN to Cape Coral, FL

Just Horrible.

We have been taken to cleaners like all these other poor people. I did research before hiring them and nothing bad came up on BBB web so we hired them & at first Jack acted like we were best friends telling me about his family etc. Once we hired them & of course paid them is when it went south! Quote was $3700 which we were somewhat expecting. We packed up and were ready to have movers come on a Fri. They never came because now John said they have a “window” time frame. Came on Sat after MANY CALLS! Mover showed up & came in apartment to look at the inventory we had- he agreed that the amount of stuff was exactly what we were quoted BUT now the quote is $8000!! After he admitted it was the same amount of boxes etc. We of course tried to contact John, Chris or anyone at the company- no one answered. We sent movers home after they told my husband that he needed CASH on top of all else. The mover also said that Chris has no idea how much it takes to move people & should not give quotes. We DID have a contract showing the original amount. Finally after a dozen or more calls we got ahold of Jennifer who said that they would get new movers out to us next day which they did- but that the double quote is still in effect & they would now need more money, we were a bit desperate because we gave notice on apartment & we had house to close on in Fla. So we decided to just do it because John told my husband we would get a dedicated truck which is for us only! This was 9 days ago- they wont call us back, their “tracking” system is leaving voice mails, which we have done daily. Jennifer finally called back stating our truck has not even left Mn yet! God knows where it has been sitting for 9 days. She said they will assign a driver & have him call us- Nope not heard a word! She also made it clear tgat “contract” states they have 10-12 days to get it to us! We have had to stay in hotel because no furniture in new house. They don't care & I cannot believe they are still in business. The fact they are throwing the “contract” in our direction is going to be a problem for them if we do not get our furniture & household. They have until Friday to get our stuff here according to the contract!! We will also be contacting the proper people to register a complaint & thank you to whoever gave the info out in your review! We all need to be sure these scam artists go out of business. Can anyone tell me if you ever got your stuff & if you ended up paying tgem. Thank you.

Long-distance move from Clinton, IA to Venice, FL

Just Dont.

Signed a contract on June 14th, told 10-14 days. We were buying a house and we timed it so we would have the stuff when we moved in.

15 days later tried calling, no answer, left a message. No return phone call, tried customer service no one answers, left another message for our "Personal Rep" Randy and again no return phone call. This is after Randy told us if we needed anything don't hesitate to call him and he will take care of us. We NEVER heard from Randy after at least 15 messages and 50 phone calls. We tried every number we could, and occasionally we got someone but..

If you ever get anyone in the call center they just lie, we were told, "Yup the truck is loaded they are headed your way", "oh the driver had a family emergency we are getting a new driver", "oh the truck is still waiting to be loaded", "oh I don't understand he should be there within a day" etc etc etc

It is now 8/19 and we FINALLY for our stuff. After over 2 months of waiting, lies, no answers, no return phone calls etc.

Then after everything we got $30 a day for every BUSINESS day after the contract was up (mon - fri) even though they delivered on a SUNDAY.

Long-distance move from Milwaukee, WI to Los Angeles, CA

Worst experience of my life.

I must say that Midwestern Van Lines is the biggest scam and biggest joke of a company I have ever encountered in my life.

I worked with a sales rep named Randy Peterson, who seemed great in the beginning. He kept assuring me know how reputable the company was, it’s BBB A+ rating (another joke and total BS) and how I need to be careful whoever I do decide to go through for my move. He was there to answer all my questions, he was always available and seemed super genuine.. until I gave him my credit card information.

I decided to go with Midwestern Van Lines and put an initial deposit down for $758. My total quote to move a 1 bedroom was $1750, which seemed super reasonable. I was informed that I had 1 week to cancel my move in order to receive my deposit back. A week and a half before my move I called to provide Randy an updated inventory list, because I finished packing everything and I did not want the price to go up drastically. He said to me, that everything is fine and the price will not change. 2 days prior to my scheduled move, I talked to the qa rep, Chris, to also provide the updated inventory list, he emailed Randy and said nothing has changed in price and everything stayed the same.

The day of the move came and the movers arrived 7 hours late, which was very unprofessional. When they came to my house, they told me that the inventory I had was more than what was quoted and in order for them to move me, I would need to pay them $5000 cash. What type of shady bait and switch company does that? Of course I did not trust that, and because it was Saturday night at 8:30pm, I couldn’t get a hold of anyone from the company, so I sent the movers home. I have been calling, the texting, emailing, doing everything I can to get in touch with people from this company. To this day I cannot connect with anyone to see what was going on with my move. Their customer service is the worst, and I have been ghosted completely by everyone from the company.

I finally sent an email to the customer service address just asking them to refund me my deposit (because no services were rendered) and big surprise, they said that because I refused service, they cannot refund my deposit (even though they completely pulled a bait and switch on me). I am currently in the process of filing a dispute with my credit card company to get my money back.

My boyfriend then requested to get a quote from the company, to see if he could get a hold of someone that way, and of course right away another sales rep called him immediately. He then explained to them my situation and wanted to get in contact with a manager or higher up and they were so apologetic and that they would call him back immediately, but then he got ghosted too.

This whole situation has been so stressful,
Not to mention that I’m 7 months pregnant. I just cannot believe companies and people like this exist. They are so unethical and seem to be fine with it, which completely shocks me. Please be aware of working with this company in the future, and be aware of Randy Peterson (Senior Moving Consultant, Midwestern Van Lines, Direct number (720) 507-0057), he is such a horrible, conniving human being.

Long-distance move from Olympia, WA to Appleton, WI

Do Not Book With This Company!

HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU TAKE YOUR BUSINESS ELSEWHERE!
This company is a scam! Since doing an inventory over the phone (1st Red Flag) we over inflated what we would need to move to allow a little of a buffer. Late in the afternoon of the day before our scheduled pick up date we received a call informing us they needed to reschedule as they could not make it because their truck broke down. We attempted to call our original booking agent Michael but every phone call would go directly to his voicemail, it was not until we called from a completely different number that he picked up right away. At that time he stated the crew was over booked and still working on a previous job and they would be there to pick up by noon the next day and that he was working on compensating us for the delay (2nd red flag for conflicting stories). The next day the pick up crew showed up an hour late in a rented Ryder moving truck. After doing a walk through of our home the we were informed that it would cost an addition $2000 to load everything. Since knowing we overinflated our original estimate we were floored by this! At this time I requested for them to show me how much square footage in the truck our original quote covered and informed the to load as much stuff to that point and we would have to figure out another option for the remaining stuff. Now this is where our move got interesting. At this time we were informed of all the additional hidden fees like;
If you have steps it cost $75 per flight and that 7 steps is considered a flight, and if they can not park with in 75 ft of your door it will cost $75 per 75feet covered and lastly that you will be charged for every packing blanket ($25 each) and roll of tape ($5 each) the crew uses when they are wrapping large furniture items. Let me tell you they don’t skimp on the amount of tape rolls used either and they do not keep you informed as to how much is being used until the end! Luckily for us we were able to pull out a hard copy of our original quote that stated blankets and tape were covered so we were able avoid this. Be sure you print all of the original documents the day you are quoted because on our pick up date we were unable to log into in of the information provided. Once the crew had finished and we paid the next installment for shipment we noticed they had left out a piece of our bed frame so I informed them it needed to be loaded since it was apart of our original quote when they reopened the truck I noticed that there was still about 3 feet of unloaded space up to the tape line that they marked out. Since we had just paid for that space I requested that it be loaded with additional items since they refused to take everything unless we paid more. At that time we had to scramble around town to find a uhaul trailer to pull behind my truck for the remainder of our stuff. The next day I attempted to call our booking agent to figure out compensation for breaking our original contract and once again he was unreachable. We attempted to contact him daily for the following week and contentiously we were ghosted. We attempted to call the original booking number and went through the entire automated directory leaving multiple messages and still were not contacted by a single person. It was not until 37 days later we finally got a phone call stating that our stuff was out for delivery. On day 42 our stuff finally arrived via a semi truck. Come to find out the driver of the truck has ZERO affiliation with midwestern van lines and informed us that we was contacted and hired third party to pick up our stuff and move it to us. Once unloaded we found significant damage to some of our items and have started the process for compensation but in all of the paper work we have received not a single one informs you how to file and you guessed it no one is returning any of our calls! After reading other reviews it sound like it is common practice for this company to conduct business in the manner that we experienced and I suspect they are inflating their reviews to give the appearance of being a reputable company. Please save your self the headache and hassle and do not book with this company!

Long-distance move from Washington to Missouri

Too bad you can't give negative stars!

Do NOT use these movers!! Cost listed is only what I have paid so far to move only personal items--no furniture!!
1. As noted by other reviewers, it's bait and switch when getting estimates--count on 1.5 to 2 times what they estimate as the cost. We measured cubic feet and they made us break it into boxes which came out as fewer cubic feet and then they jacked up the cost.
2. I can't count the number of falsehoods given by the sales department--from guaranteed pick up time to availability of your items within 48 hours of contacting the company.
3. I can't reach anyone to get my items. I've been trying for over three weeks to schedule my delivery. I've paid the down payment and pickup and storage costs--now they have my items and most of the money and I have nothing.
4. They charge you a huge service charge to use a credit card and don't tell you until you are making the transaction.
My next steps will be contacting the BBB, FMCSA (DOT), and then possibly filing a claim with AMSA.

Do Not Use!

Given quote over phone - explained in detail what we wanted moved. When they arrived at our home - it would cost an additional $1000. is box up mattress and cabinet. Gave detailed listing over phone about these items. No mention on phone of additional cost.
Will follow up with my credit card company to void deposit.
All the talk on the call from Taylor at Midwestern how great they are and their Better Business rating is all B.S.!

Long-distance move from Saint Cloud, MN to Las Vegas, NV

If I could give zero stars I would &**DO NOT USE**.

Great salesmen..the worst service EVER experienced.
This move ended up costing $1,000 more than quoted and they would not load or unload without paying the difference. No one responds to phone calls, emails, voicemails (when you can actually leave on - everyone voicemail box seems to be full) once you pay your down payment you have no contact or response from anyone via the main phone number.
You never see an actual 'Midwestern Van Line' driver - they are all contracted help and what is interesting is that their DOT authority is as a carrier not a broker so not sure how they are contracting out the work to be completed.
THEN..to top it off - numerous items / boxes missing and every box was damaged on delivery..bed frame delivered without headboard and the rails require the headboard - so new bedframe has to be purchased. Mattress was special covered and wrapped on pick up - wrapping and cover destroyed on delivery - not sure where this mattress has been. Was told driver that brought load was doing the delivery - but then found out from contractor that did the delivery that my possession were have been in storage for who knows how long. They also delivered to me someone else's boxes - I let them know they were not mine so hopefully those possessions got to the rightful owners. Expensive kitchen equipment and clay pots - all that were bubble wrapped and heavy boxed are all broken and unusable. Missing boxes with tools and household items. I would have been better selling my belonging and buying all new when I arrived - I would have saved money in the long run with all that I am having to replace that I paid a LOT of money to have moved. There is zero regard for your belongings or even speaking to you once they have your money. I have been unable to contact the company regarding any kind of claim so I will be posting on every website / internet chat / BBB that I can find in the hopes that someone else does not have the same unfortunate experience with these scam artists.

Long-distance move from Aurora, CO to Forest Park, IL

Horrible experience, will never use again.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. This is a long review but the short story for anyone shopping moving companies is that this company will swindle you, treat you horribly, and not return phone calls and emails for WEEKS while they have your belongings.

The sales process was very smooth, as any good salesmen can make you feel like the company is trustworthy. We looked at their reviews and decided that we should still move ahead, feeling confident with the rep we dealt with. Once the sale was made, the company went radio silent. I had to reach back out three days before our move to get anyone to discuss our final arrangements. I spoke with someone in QA and we adjusted the final quote (up by over $400) to reflect those changes. On moving day, the driver arrived and said he still believed we'd be at least 300 cubic feet OVER the new quote. We agreed to load to the increased space (at another $1200 above our quoted price) and stop at that point. At that point we still had a full sized couch, 4 burner grill, two end tables, one coffee table and a smattering of smaller items that could not fit. We were unwilling to continue paying for the space. I will add, our revised quote the week of the move INCLUDED all of these things. The company's contract also says they will break down furniture. WRONG. My husband and I broke everything down to consolidate and save space. After the loaders were done, the driver gave us his phone number and said we can call him if we can't get in touch with dispatch to discuss how completely wrong their quote was. The next day (move was on a Sunday) we called our rep within the company to discuss. He didn't answer. My husband called all of the extension lines at home office and there was no answer at any of them. He next called the driver to discover it was a fake phone number. We finally got ahold of our rep, he sounded as shocked as we were (I'm sure he's scalped other movers many times) and that he would raise it to the owners to help us out and see what he could do. That was the last we heard from him. For three weeks we had no contact with the company. We called, we emailed (all documented and saved) and no one responded to us. For three weeks, we were unsure if our belongings were still our own, or if they had been thrown away, sold on eBay, etc.

We still have not heard anything from the company. Our belongings arrived on time and in full, thank goodness. Unfortunately for us, every large piece of furniture has been damaged in some way. The moving company wrapped all of that furniture. And yes, I do have photo proof of each damaged piece. There isn't much we can do since the company doesn't return calls or emails, but I am begging anyone else looking at this company to go elsewhere. Save your money for a better company that won't damage everything.

Long-distance move from Los Angeles, CA to New York, NY

Bad Bad Company.

NOT GOOD!! Our family moved closer to us.. used this "company" to move them.. Various No responses from them, over 30 days not knowing where their belongings were. Finally a response and said "it should be on it's way". they was not tracking/gps… anything. They received a call the night before it was coming. about 1/4 of their belonging were damaged. Please do not use this company. No loyalty, no responsibility!! I am not sure what the costs were but they had to buy a lot of stuff they already had packed up. Please read these and let put them out of business!!
