Long-distance move from Emmett, MI to Hayward, CA

Highly recommend!

From beginning to end, our experience with Mega vanlines has been phenomenal. They were fast, efficient, very careful and thorough, and super friendly. Not one complaint and we are on the 4th floor of a walk up! When I opened all the kitchen and china that they packed, it was meticulously wrapped and packed. Well worth the service and additional price.

Scam!

I honestly thought this company was great because of the good reviews, but wow was I wrong!

From the first call I should have known this was going to be a scam.

Promising me that my super small studio apartment would be the minimum cost after explaining in detail everything that I wanted to move, which now i’m having to pay almost triple the amount because of added costs they failed to mention that the actual movers (the people Mega Van’s HIRED that they did not disclose when booking them) would require to do their jobs.

Not only that, customer service- the one they claim to be 24/7 is a lie. They never answer and never have the correct information or actually any information at all.

The day they were supposed to pick up my stuff we were told they would show up between 8-10am and after trying to call and getting no answers from any phone number! Not from customer service, not from the guy we booked the reservation, not from the dispatcher, no one!

When we finally got a hold of someone around 11 they said the time is now from 9am-12pm.

They showed up at 1:45pm!!

And now looking at the Mover’s inventory- we owe triple the amount we were told by Mega Van Lines. TRIPLE!

This company is dishonest, not accommodating, they lack communication, and just an overall scam.

Long-distance move from Columbia, MO to San Diego, CA

Just Go With UHaul.

I don't know where to begin.

I was a last minute booking because my previous moving company cancelled with no notice. I wasn't told from the beginning that Mega Van is a BROKER that will also hire other brokers to move your things. I was lied to when I first booked and was told my stuff would be there in 5 days max. Awesome right? Nope.

The binding estimate was undersold, was an extra $400 more after the truck was loaded. It was midnight by the time it was done, the driver arrived at 6pm and the movers never showed. I was tired so I signed. Terrible idea.

I have had a nightmare time with the other broker/moving company they hired ever since, and Mega Van have done nothing to help.

Remember how I said I was told 5 days max? It's now been 22 days and my stuff isn't here. Repeated calls to Mega Van and the moving company. Both are useless. Mega Van claimed they would help, and all they do is call the exact same number to ask the exact same questions and then give us the exact same answers. There is no control over their scammy hires.

They do not care whatsoever if you have had a bad experience. There is no customer service, no power over their hires, no nothing. I have even requested through Mega Van multiple times to get me documents from this moving company so I had some information and nothing is resolved. They blame each other.

I don't know if I'll even get my stuff at this rate, or what condition it will be in if it arrives. The company they chose is terrible and has worse ratings than they do!

I'm a college grad moving from a 1 bdrm to another 1 bdrm.

I could've gone with UHaul and had my stuff here in half the time with a way better experience.

Long-distance move from Rio Rancho, NM to Satellite Beach, FL

NM to FL move.

Called early May to book a cross country move (NM to FL). Armando Blackwell (you do not have to remember this name as he will never return your phone calls after your deposit has cleared despite him giving me his direct office and personal cell numbers - he did return a call one time but it was a butt-dial and all I heard was salsa music for 10 minutes until I hung up) promised the sun and moon and chirped about their "5 Star Rating." Told him we needed to have it delivered by Monday, May 25 (a holiday I know but he said they deliver every day but Christmas). "NO PROBLEM" per Armando. Price quoted -- around $4,000. I knew this was too low, but Armando yapped about Covid and how they needed the business, blah, blah, blah.

So I get a call a couple of weeks later from Paul Fountain, the Quality Assurance Manager (another name you won't need as he never returns calls either despite his assurance that he's always available), for a more precise quote which goes up to $8,000. I video walked him through my storage units for a "real" showing of my belongings. I'm fine with $8,000, I know it's a lot of stuff.

Day of the move comes, Dani (the driver) says his quote for the move is now $11,800. And I need to pay the remainder in cash at delivery. No mention of this during the booking - so I get to travel cross country with thousands of dollars on me. What choice do I have -- I needed to have my stuff moved out that day. The driver tells me our stuff will not be delivered until May 30-June 1. What? That's not what I was promised. A day or two is one thing, a week later is unacceptable.

So we get to Florida -- no beds, no seating, no cookware, no anything except the clothes we brought. So we have to go out and buy a card table/chairs, inflatable beds, etc. On May 26, I contact the customer service number and talk to Nancy (rude, dismissive, uncooperative) who basically says "tough" and I ask about the QA manager, a supervisor, anyone who can help. She gives me the name of "Teddy" the supervisor. I talk to Teddy who calls me back after leaving a message (condescending, unhelpful) and he offers the name and phone number of the driver. I say "Why should I call the driver? Doesn't he work for you?" He says it's all on the driver and his schedule. He also says our stuff is in a storage facility (although we were told it would be loaded and delivered -- no mention ever that our stuff would be unloaded and reloaded at some point -- more opportunity to wreck your things with being loaded and unloaded twice).

Call and talk to Teddy/Nancy daily. Teddy tells me he looks forward to my daily calls (like I said, condescending). All they ever tell me is to call the driver. I nail him down to explain why the driver gets to call all the shots and he finally explains that they are the "BROKER" for the move and set up customers/drivers for the business. Unbelievable.

My stuff finally gets delivered on June 4 at 6:00 pm. I pay the cash up front (they won't unload unless they get paid first which I understand). They won't set up the bunk beds because they didn't take it apart. It was in a STORAGE UNIT! Whatever, they got their money and I got my things but it was pretty much a nightmare. You're held hostage to their demands but their promises mean nothing.

On June 3, I call Francesca who tells me my things will be delivered the next day. I'm skeptical of course, but she was only one who treated me like a customer and not a bother.

I feel stupid for being scammed. I did do research but I promise you the positive reviews posted on their website must have been made by family members, or maybe they paid people to write them. I haven't moved in 17 years so this is all new to me, but boy have I learned.

If you're looking for a moving company who triples their quotes, lies about delivery, promises your stuff will be put on the truck and not be unloaded until you get to your destination, than this is the moving company for you. I would suggest your hire a moving company that actually does the move themselves.

Honestly, I don't know how they stay in business if this is how they treat their customers. I would rate them a "0" but that's not a option. Now I'm wiser but poorer.. :(.

Long-distance move from Springfield, IL to Las Vegas, NV

If I could give this company 0 stars I would.

I had a horrendous experience with this company. I am now at lost for over $900 without my items even being moved. I would not recommend this company for anyone. I received an arrival time for the movers at the last minute. The movers were extremely rude. The movers tried to charge me an additional $7,000 over my quoted price for the items that were included on my inventory quote. The movers took pictures of items that I told them was not being moved multiple, making it seem as if I had more items then my inventory list. When I received my original price quote I was told that if I needed to add items on the day of move the price would only be 55 cents per pound for each item, so at the most my price would only go up a couple dollars per item. I only needed to add 5 items on the day of move so there was no way my price should have went from $2300 to $7000. When customer service called all the person said was "what's up, tell me what happened." I explain my situation he told me would call me back and never did. I strongly recommend to NOT use this company ever. I am out of tons of money and still have to find a different moving company to move my stuff.

Failure to Deliver Belongings. Unprofessional.

This company is an absolute nightmare. DO NOT BOOK MEGA VAN LINES. THE FIVE STAR REVIEWS ARE FAKE.

Firstly, they did not show up during the agreed upon time range. Then we had to talk to 4 different customer service representatives to find out the van broke down because the first 3 did not call me back as they promised. Then when they finally showed up (FIVE DAYS LATE), they added hundreds of dollars to our original estimate upon arrival because we had forgotten to mention TWO STANDING FANS. We were told it would take 7-10 days for our belongings to arrive at our new home. 10 days came and went and it took hours and hours of calls to get a hold of them. That's when they told us a new time. That time came and went, and after several more calls, we were told the range was actually 5-15 days.

Our belongings were picked up on May 4th. It is now May 30th and we do not know when our things will be arriving. It has been TWENTY SIX DAYS.

We were lied to, ignored, and disrespected on several occasions. Don't waste your time or money, don't believe all the good reviews, which I'm convinced are probably fake.

Long-distance move from Fayetteville, NC to Richmond, VA

Mega Scam Lines.

They provided an estimate based on a minimal list of items to move from a small apartment and then tried a bait and switch on moving day. We were promised a pick-up between 9am - 12pm and the truck didn't show until 5:40PM. They looked at the furniture, said it wasn’t that much but immediately demanded an additional $1000 above the original estimate. Prior to moving day, we notified them them of a mirror and TV, paid an additional deposit, and then wanted an additional $50 each on moving day. When the service was Initially booked, we were told the estimate was conservative and the charges would not be more. I refused to be a victim of extortion by such an unscrupulous and dishonest company. They wanted a signature on a cancellation form to relinquish claim for the deposits and we refused to sign and told them to get out. I called customer service for a return of the deposits and was greeted by the rudest, nastiest, detached, uncaring, unmoved person I've ever encountered for any business. Spoke with manager Eddie who is another very poor reflection on the business and just as uncooperative. Eddie says they are just the broker and hung up on me. Fortunately the deposits were on a credit card and now have been disputed.

Read the negative reviews on Google, Yelp, and BBB. It's a pattern folks. Just say NO! I've contacted the attorney general of Florida to lodge a formal complaint as well as the BBB and the local news channels. This company has contempt for the law and their name should be Mega Scam Lines. You've been warned!

My movers were fantastic!

My movers were fantastic! They were fast, efficient and very professional. One of the best work crews I've witnessed. We had a lot of items that were difficult to pack (fitness equipment and workshop tools) that they handled with ease. I would definitely recommend them and recommend them for a bonus. I would use Two Men and Truck for any future moves.

Moving is a stressful process.

Moving is a stressful process and as a military family we have moved both within the USA and Europe but our move with the crew from Mega Van Lines made it so easy. These young men were upbeat and smiling and moving our boxes like they were their own. They were so careful with every move and yet so fast. By far the best moving crew out of our 13 moves. They give promises but can not hold them.

Three days after my scheduling date, they came up with multiple excuses as the truck was broken, no available driver and drivers were getting late. Everytime, they promised a next morning day. They caused me to miss my flight, meetings, and starting day of my work. Then, I found another company and asked refund. They refused to issue a refund because their drivers on the way. I would not think that they would pick up and deliver in arranged time frames. Be aware.

Refund my money.

We booked with Mega Van LInes and paid a $600 deposit. When the move was not going to take place, we contacted Mega Van Lines over 30 days prior to the date. We were told that they would "hang onto" our money in case we moved in the future. Then we were told they had expenses (a full month prior?) We have called several times for a month now and still have not received our refund. We will be seeking legal help to get it back, and won't quit until we do. DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE!

They walked us through the whole process step by step and their pricing was also very competitive. The majority of our furniture was wrapped, cushioned and dealt with. Absolutely Awful - Stay Away.

Awful and dishonest brokers. Used to be Safe and Secure but changed their name a few months ago due to so many bad reviews. Michelle in customer service is the most dishonest person you could come across. My $3800 quote ended up being a $5k move with no recourse. This is a total scam. We were initially quoted $5000 and sent $1983 via Venmo to a Deborah . This should have been my first red flag. I contacted Venmo and they stated it is not for use for merchants. Then they came back and told us we needed to Venmo an additional $600 as the quote now was $11,000 estimate. We knew this was ridiculous and cancelled the move. They refuse to refund our money. I asked numerous times to speak to Deborah and was not allowed. We are obtaining an attorney. Now we don't exist, no response from the company. Emails are not responded to. We canceled their service after 5 days of "the truck has been dispatched and it is on it's way", which was also 5 days after pick up date. Failure to perform on their side. These guys were just perfect.

I have to relocate every few years. I hired Mega Van Lines to help with my last move upon a recommendation from a friend. When I called them, the man on the phone seemed very friendly and well informed. He called me back in 10 minutes with a very reasonable estimate. I specifically asked for a crew who is good at handling breakables. The men they sent looked like pro-wrestlers! They were very efficient. Their speed terrified me a little. They were so fast at packing everything that I thought they were not doing the job properly. The crew seemed to know what they were doing and so I didn’t say anything to them. Fortunately, all my breakables were in great condition when they made the delivery. These guys were just perfect.

Shame on you Mega Van Lines.

We are in our 6th week with this terrible company. On July 12th my 93 year old father was coerced into trusting this company, giving them his bank account information and later his belongings and we are still waiting to get his belongs or even an accurate estimate of their anticipated delivery.

Two weeks into “the move” we found out that Mega Van Lines submitted several fraudulent checks against his bank account. Four weeks into the move after not getting any updates or return calls from the company we reported them to the Better Business Bureau, the state of Florida, and US Department of Transportation. We got a handful of calls and a couple of e-mails within 24 hours and now, roughly six weeks into the move, again we are getting no information regarding the delivery and no return phone calls.

I cannot conceive of any reason to do business with this company and I sincerely hope no one else has these experiences. It is truly heartbreaking to see how little a company cares.

Shame on you, Mega Van Lines.

Official company response

Hello Evelyn and thank you for your review. After reviewing your customer file I see a lot of notes documenting your calls, from your initial reservation date of 6/9 till current dates looks like we have been in contact with you from the start. All of your flight times and scheduling, you offered you 30 days FREE storage which you took advantage of! We even just spoke to you a few hours ago regarding your move being taken out of storage and scheduling the delivery to your new home in Maryland! I am unsure how you think this is poor customer service as everytime you have called we are more then happy to assist you and have called you back with all updates. Hopefully there is something we can do to fix this unwarranted rating of our high quality services and have it switched to the appropriate 5 stars we recieve from our other happy customers.

Send an email to info@megavanlines.com if you would like to discuss further.

Long-distance move from Troy, IL to Westfield, IN

A complete disaster, start to finish.

Mega Van Lines was the first phone call we placed to plan our call. During the initial phone call, we were given discounts to book immediately, although we did not have a full inventory list (although we did tell them we used a full semi in a previous move). We told them we had a three bedroom house. They quoted us a great price and we booked it. We were told that the QA team would call a week before the move to confirm our inventory. Low and behold, a week before the move, we spent two hours on the phone reviewing our inventory with Paul Fountain .. AND OUR PRICE DOUBLED! We had been quoted for less than a box truck, yet they knew we had a three bedroom house. At that point, we are stuck. We had to move. They gave us a "discount" and we felt we had to keep the reservation. This is clearly their MO. Give a low quote, then just a week before the move, review inventory and requote the job at double. It was a shill game and we were caught. THEN, the movers showed up.. with only a partial inventory list and another NEW PRICE when they reviewed our house. This new price was TRIPLE what was originally quoted. TRIPLE. We were able to get the price down some, but we were still more than double the original quote. The movers, JT Express, were horrible. They were slow, treated our furniture like it was junk, kept telling us how we should have packed and planned our move, the lead was degrading to the other men moving, and then continually asked us to pay in cash. NO way was I giving these buffoons cash! I have no doubt it would disappear. They took three days to what should have been just two. They damaged my husbands motorcycle and, when other items were damaged such as my file cabinet, he "punched" the damage out and said it was OK.. And then again, the lecture on how we should have packed. Overall, we paid more than if we had just stayed with a recommendation from a friend that we thought was too expensive. Of course, Mega Van Lines will not even reply to my emails when I tell them I want to talk regarding my move. An absolute scam. They will continually charge you more money when you are stuck needed to move. Stay far away!

This is the worst company I have ever worked with. There is a reason that reviews are either 1 star or 5 stars. 1 star reviews are written by all of the real people that have been scammed by this god awful company.
