The movers did an excellent job, they were very professional and worked hard to accomodate specific requests such as removing the front door to get our sofa into the house.  The foreman even re-attached a closet door for me without having to ask him.  That's an example of going above and beyond, in my opinion.  The workers were courteous and very efficient.  The manager came out to the pickup location during the move to make sure everything was going well and that we did not have any problems.  Although the move did take a lot longer than the estimate we were given, we did have a lot of stairs in both homes.  I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for reasonable prices without having to sacrifice quality.  .

I had to hire Jake's moving & storage because the original moving company (Maubaums Moving) took 14 hours to pack a 1 bedroom apartment and never completely finished packing any room. Although the 2 gentlemen were very congenial, the job was not completely done and they weren't available to finish the job I ended up paying for anyway. I had to pay for the extra time I was in my apartment because the items left were to big to transport in my car. John, from Jake's Moving & Storage, was very accomodating and patient listening to my dilemma and the workers (3 packers) were prompt and very FAST. After the moving nightmare I experienced with the previous company, I was skeptical and quite nervous. I was able to quickly put my fears to rest because these gentlemen were all about business and got the job done. Overall, I would recommend this company to all my friends.

I did not contact this company for a moving job, But remove trash from the inside and outside of a rental property. I am a Real Estate Agent and am asked  many times for a moving company.  Since they di a great job for me with a trach problem, I have not problem telling my clients about Jakes a a moving company. I had this company haul trash from a rental property. Not only did they pick up all the trash that was in every room, but they brom cleaned every room. They cleaned the yard and porch. I would have not trouble calling them again! And the total price was reasonalble.

Found Jake's on this website and contacted them because they got great reviews.  They arrived in the window they committed to.  The team leader explained all the paperwork and policies, everything was upfront.  We agreed on the start time to calculate charges.  The three man team worked tirelessly, making sure our charges were minimized.  Everything was handled with extreme care (and this is something as my daughter is very picky about her stuff).  Team was very friendly and courteous.  Fee was reasonable given all the boxes that needed to be moved.  Would highly recommend Jake's to anyone. .

I started by calling the last company I used 32 months ago and they were booked solid. July 1 may be the worst date to need to move out of the year. In any case, I went down the Google list and Jake's was the first I came by that had availability. They were licensed and insured so I figured I was safe. John was very professional on the phone and got me set up with verbal and e-mail confirmations. The guys arrived an hour before the latest time John set, and a good thing too. It took from 9am to 2:30 to get the truck packed for 4 stops. I filled up their biggest truck and still needed more space..a word to the wise, when in doubt, go bigger. They will take things apart to get more in and protect your furniture. Could we have loaded quicker? Sure! But any mover worth their salt will take painstaking steps to wrap and protect your furniture. This is why it took 5.5 hours to load the truck. What made the day stressful was knowing the whole way that I needed to be fully into the new condo unit by 4pm..an impossible task when they arrived at the loading dock past 3pm. This is why I listed the delivery as late..but it couldn't be helped. I asked my sister to pray for me and the building manager allowed me the grace to use the freight elevator until 6pm. The move in to the new unit was finished by 5:15, and then when they had finished reassembling a few furniture items, we went onto stop 2, the storage space, to offload more items. The 3rd and 4th stops were single item drop offs and we concluded at 9pm. My only other advice is when moving into a condo, be very clear on elevator reservation details before signing a lease. Availability and time restraints can put a huge load of stress on you. Because of those details, this was one of the most stressful days of my life. All said, My experience with Jake's was great, the guys were funny, entertaining and accommodating. They got me moved with no breakage or incidents and I would fully recommend them, and will seek them out on our next move.

John was the first point of contact and set up our estimate, date, and time for the move. John was excellent because he covered everything we needed to know and expect on the day of the move. Simon and his crew showed up on time. They worked non-stop and were professional through out the process. They took care when handling our furniture, and we could not be more pleased. We needed some workstations moved and rearranged in our office suite. Jake's was the first company to respond to my inquiry (same day) and sent a reasonable time and cost estimate. We were able to get the move done the following week. The crew was on time and professional. They were conscientious about not damaging anything in the office and made sure I was happy with the arrangement of the furniture before they left. The workstations look great and we paid even less than the estimate due to the fact that the crew got everything done so quickly. I would not hesitate to recommend them for large and small projects.  .

Jake's Moving and Storage did an excellent job with my much needed move from a townhome to an apartment. From my initial inquiry with Jake to get everything organized in their system with pricing to the staff that arrived. It was well organized. My movers, Simon, Hoover, & Manuel, were courteous and wrapped all items and even helped me box remaining items. So professional! Much appreciated.

It was the same with the delivery and move-in. They were careful with all of my possessions. I would recommend them to everyone.

In the midst of the busy holiday season, I needed to move some VERY expensive (and heavy) furniture and misc. household goods out of my 10th floor apartment and into commercial storage. Having had some bad moving experiences in the past, I was apprehensive. I needn't have been. John, the customer service rep., took the time to really talk to me, assess my moving needs and answer all my questions. On the day of the move a 4-person crew showed up as scheduled, professionally wrapped my furniture, and made sure to handle everything with care. When I pointed out I had labelled some boxes as "Fragile", Dwight, the team lead, looked at me with all sincerity and said, "Don't worry.. we treat ever box like it's fragile." And they did! Everyone on the job crew was fantastic! And when all was said and done, John's time/cost estimate was spot-on! I highly recommend Jake's Moving and Storage.

I strongly recommend Jake's Moving & Storage for the following reasons: 1) Jacob was very professional when I called to inquire about his company. He answered all my questions and emailed me very promptly the quote which was detailed and very informative, 2) John, the supervisor and his staff were very professional and efficient, 3) They treated every item in my place with respect. They wrapped everything skillfully, loaded them in the truck, and unloaded the stuff at my new place with utmost care, 4) They were patient and courteous throughout the moving process, even when it took more time than agreed upon to complete. I felt comfortable dealing with all the individuals I encountered in this company.
I will certainly trust Jake's Moving & Storage if I move again and will not hesitate to recommend this company to others as well.

Jake's is amazing. They came early and treated everything with care. Everything that meant something to me was wrapped and packaged so as to not get damaged. The crew of 3 men were incredibly fast and helpful. They took table legs off a large dining room table, wrapped a mattress, sofa and expensive seating chairs. Nothing was damaged or handled ruff. I used them once before this move and will use them again. They are professional, respectful and kind. Jake's moving crew understands that moving day is super stressful and they make it their business to take all your worries away. They truly are the best and moving.

My whole experience with Jake's Moving and Storage was excellent. It started with my initial conversation with John. He was very nice and informative about every aspect of the move. When I told him that I was moving on Sept 11th, we had a moment of silence for all those that were lost on that day. He scored major points by doing that. :)

On the day of the move, the 3 movers showed up on time and they did a wonderful job. They wrapped my furniture and were very careful with my items. I was impressed by the speed of the gentleman and they kept the talking to a minimum. They were all business.

One item was damaged during the move. Both the mover and John apologized for the damage. The claim was processed within 2 business days. I used to work in the claims department of a cargo shipping company, so I was already aware of the claim procedures. Jake's Moving and Storage responded to the claim and settled the claim much faster than the average claim time for their industry.

I would recommend Jake's Moving and Storage to anyone and I plan to use them again once I buy a house.

I had a need for a last minute move. I called and spoke to John, the general manager who was very helpful in setting up the move. Within 2 hours (maybe less) 2 men and a truck with a lift gate showed up at my office to help me move. They moved office equipment including a full size copier and even took it down a set of steps for me. Melvin and Manuel were very professional. They shrink wrapped or blanket wrapped everything. It was a rainy day so I was very happy about that. I really appreciated their great service and would highly recommend them to anyone for their residential or commercial move.

I moved in early July, and the customer service level is top quality. I enjoyed working with John on the phone, who was very thorough, honest, and helpful, and the crew that came to pack me up and move my things into storage were hard workers who got started right away and hustled for the whole day, until every last piece was expertly stacked in my storage unit. After having a horrible moving experience 2 years ago I was delighted to find Jake's Moving and Storage. They were so professional and easy to work with from the first phone call till the end of the move. They will work with you the entire time and help make the move as easy as possible. In fact they even brought 2 men over in addition to the 3 that were there to make our move even faster for both us and the health/safety of their crew. I was very impressed. John the manager is simply amazing and always in touch. I highly recommend them for local moves or even longer ones! I won't use anyone else ever again.

Jake's was extremely affordable, courteous, efficient, and flexible. I called one day in advance about moving, and Jake's responded immediately to my questions and a quote. They were able to schedule me a time for moving within the next day. The team was polite, clean, thorough, and fast. They even finished slightly ahead of schedule. I'd never used a moving company before, and I was concerned about hidden costs or fees. This was not the case. I was very impressed and pleased with their service, and definitely recommend them to others.

I recently moved from Potomac to DC.
I spoke to so many moving companies and got so many estimates.
The reason I finally choose Jake's to move us, is because the office staff was so very pleasant, and the sales guy explained everything to me, without hiding anything or conveniently forgetting to tell me something important. Everything was explained to me very clearly. Even after I decided to use them for my move, he asked me again if I understood everything and he wanted to review the whole thing again before I booked the job with him, to be sure I understood everything properly.
The day of the move, the movers came as scheduled to my apartment. They were very professional and nice, and they made sure they handled my things with care.
In the end, I was Happy there was No damage to my furniture.

My sister is elderly and on chemotherapy and wanted to move from her apartment building to a smaller apartment within Sykesville. I called Jake's a month ahead of schedule and they gave me a very fair price. The day before the move Jake's called me to confirm time and place.
On the day of the move Jake's arrived on time, asked me what they were moving and if we needed to discard any furniture because that would cost extra but they would take it away. They promised me the move would take 3 hours with 3 men. They were correct, courteous and very careful with my sister's furniture. They set it up in the new apartment and took away all the trash. Anytime I wanted to ask a question the leader was there to politely answer the question.
When the move was over my sister was very happy and not stressed out because of Jake's movers. This company is better than other companies I have used in the past. It is family owned and local. I recommend them because of their price, how courteous they are and how professional they pack and move your furniture. They did not stop until the move was completed.

5 guys, 2 trucks, one day in state move. Guys were fast and hardworking. Price was not cheap but it was competitive. We checked with 5 different companies; but, Jake’s price included ALL the requirements we were looking to get for the price. It was well worth it. They finished ahead of schedule. It was not an easy move but they were careful and everything made it without any catastrophes. Highly recommend. Talk to Tracy, she will work it all out for you. Very responsive company.

Used Jake's to move a house that filled 1 1/2 10 by 15 storage units. Home sale with new occupants in house in less than 3 weeks. General manager John scheduled us quickly and they packed almost everything and moved our entire outside and outside and shed items 2 1/2 hours to the storage units. They packed, hauled up long steps to street level, loaded all into truck in bitter cold and inches of snow. They unloaded at the storage and amazingly fitted the inside household furniture and items into a storage unit like a giant puzzle. A mouse would have trouble getting around in there! The three employees who carried this out had positive attitudes and worked unbelievably hard. Fifteen months later, we called Jake's again and had them load storage unit onto a truck and move us into new location. Once again, we have never seen such hard working gentlemen. If you want to support a family business, while getting professional performance for a reasonable cost, you need to call Jake's.

What a wonderful experience I had with Jake's! First, I found the office very professional, and I was impressed with how transparent the estimate process was. The charges were very reasonable, given that they went to Virginia to pick up a move and came back to the Bethesda area the same day. They were on time at both locations. They did a fantastic job in plastic wrapping furniture. When they moved a piano, they laid down protection on the hard wood floors. As they moved furniture, they took care going around corners to avoid hitting the walls. The movers were courteous at all times and worked very fast. I will use them again!
