We were moving my Mother's home of 47 years to a 2 bedroom apartment. Working with John and his team at Jake's Moving was perfect. They arrived on time, were professional, worked hard, and delivered to her new residence with many antiques intact and setup exactly where we asked.  Moving can be very stressful and Jake's Moving made it as easy as it could be. I would recommend them to anyone who needed moving services and would definately use them again for any future moving needs. Jake's had the best quote out of the ones I received. I spoke with John several times to get clarifications before we signed our contract. He was patient and thorough with me and very detailed.The movers arrived on time, introduced themselves and walked the job with me before they started. they we polite and professional. Everything was wrapped, taped and padded. Nothing broke and nothing got wet. Its was cold and raining and never once did I hear them complain about the volume of stuff we had and there was alot! they just worked efficiently to get the job done as quickly and efficiently as possible. They packed our closets and anything that was in the rooms to help clear it out and I was not charged for the boxes. We returned the wardrobe boxes that day. There were no surprises and we highly recommend Jake's movers to others and will use them in the future!

DISCLAIMER: I have never written a review in my life. On anything. Any I'm in the customer service business. So the fact that I'm logged onto this site writing one means the service was beyond amazing.

I was moving from my apartment in DC while working with another moving company. I have a couple of large Restoration Hardware items (Sofa) that they were unable to get out of the building.

In a panic, I googled couch dissembly/reassembly in DC. I called John from Jake's movers Sunday at noon. I told him the issue. He said that if I was able to get the couch into the building he could get it out. He and his guy met me at my apartment with a truck and all the tools needed to re-wrap my couch. He was there within 2 hours.

I kid you not, he got the couch out in 10 minutes while being on the phone. He then moved it for me in his truck a mile down the road and had the tools and skill to take off the living room window of my new apartment to get this huge beast of a couch directly into the living room. Most movers would have looked at the hallway and just given up.. John and his team literally acted like moving consultants and came up with a solution that worked perfectly. They were handy enough to take apart a window and put it back together in minutes.

There is NO WAY any other moving company would have even thought to do any of this. This was literally some of the best service I've received. Like in general. Not just from movers. I will never call another moving company again and will forever be referring these guys to others in DC. John and his team are actual pro's. I've moved a bunch of times throughout the years and I've never seen someone actually make an art of doing the job.

Just to re-iterate. These guys got an 8ft monster of a Restoration Hardware couch out of an insanely skinny stairwell and improvised enough to get it into my next apartment. I literally had Craigslist up to get ready to sell this couch because everyone said I wouldn't be able to get it in my new place.

Thanks again, John. You saved me on my moving day. Too bad I didn't find your info sooner. I won't make that mistake again.

We are an event company and one of our events required us to move a clients irreplaceable antiques from their offices to the event space. Jakes did a great job at instructing all their staff on safe handling of these 1910 architect original furniture and we made the move to the event and back with no damage.
They came with all the padding and wrapping required moved up and downstairs in one location and with a balky freight elevator on another.
As a VP at Encore Decor I personally supervise the moving of these antiques and have for 3 moves. This year with Jakes is the only move where there was no damage.
There prices were right in line with what we have been paying other movers too.

Simon and his crew arrived at my apt in the time confirmed and went straight to work! Simon was very personable and ensured that my furniture was treated with care. I had a platform bed which Simon dismantled and put back together himself. As the crew leader he could've simply supervised but he jumped in and helped to make sure the move remained timely. Each and every fragile piece I owned was individually wrapped with care. Upon arriving to my new home they put pads down so as not to ruin my hardwood flooring. Again, as soon as the truck was parked the went straight to work never taking a break. My move took close to 5 hours and was tedious as I own an 82 in tv, a platform bed, and 2 65 in tvs all of which were wrapped in padding. At the end of the move the movers still has a smile and pleasant demeanor. They made a stressful time so much easier. I will readily recommend them. When you call I hope you get John on the phone, his expertise is astounding and he is a joy to speak with he makes you feel like family. Give them a try.

After reviewing several moving companies on line, I contacted Jake's Moving & Storage to obtain a quote. From that moment on, our move was stress free. I wanted a full pack and move and Jake's provide the best move experience I've ever had. The men worked hard and with a smile. Moving is hard and with a team from Jake's Moving & Storage, it was a breeze! Thanks to John and your men. You will be my first call the next time I will need to move.

Our original movers cancelled on us at 11:00pm the night before our move. I emailed Jake's through their website at about 5:30am, and had a response from John before 6:00. By 7am, I had a fully completed estimate and an appointment for 10am that same day.

Benjamin and his team were incredibly professional, polite, and efficient. They showed up right on time, worked quickly but thoroughly, and got our stuff in just the right place. Best of all, they were friendly, and even came back to drop off something that had accidentally remained in the truck.

The whole experience was great. John called mid-move to check in and followed up afterwards to make sure everything had gone well. They weren't the cheapest option, but the price is reasonable for the incredibly high level of professionalism and responsiveness you get. I would definitely use Jake's again.
