Long-distance move from Woodland, WA to Malakoff, TX

Still waiting!!

We negotiated and arranged to move to another state on 4/28/21 which required a 50% electronic bank deposit. Then we were told it would 7 -10 days for the furniture to arrive. We pushed the date forward a week so we could be at the state in time for arrival. When our furniture was picked up we were told it would be an additional $1500 even though there were no changes from the estimate. Our copies were illegible. When we called missing the delivery date it was explained it could be up to another 21 days per the illegible copies we received from a different company!! They only take calls Tues and Thursdays we were told but no one answers the phone or returns call. Occasionally someone answers and we have also been disconnected. Please note it is now 6/17/21 with no belongings or furniture. Our jobs have been disrupted, we are split between states, and no one is responding.

Long-distance move from Fort Lauderdale, FL to Denver, CO

Don't trust these people

Where to begin: I searched on the internet for moving companies and they came up. I contacted them thinking they were the actual moving company, but they are brokers; which is okay. I spoke with someone at first who I don't remember his name, and he gave me an estimate based on all boxes and furniture I was moving. The estimate was fair. He said someone will call me to do a "quality control" call a few days before the move. Well, this so called " quality control" call was to try to get more money from me. This guy who identified himself as Frederick called me and was pushing me to buy more space so all my stuff could fit in the truck. He even started using some technical terms, like bill of lading or whatever, trying to scare me and get me more confused

I told him nothing had changed and he kept pushing, in a very unprofessional way, for me to buy more space and asked me for $300 more. Because I told him I was not going to do it, he kept saying I was going to end up paying more at the time of pickup and it would be too late then. I told him I was going to call Will Adams whom I spoke with, and he had emailed me before the initial quote.

Guess what: I called Will Adams, and the same guy Frederick picked up the call and said he was Will's boss and there was nothing he could do about the initial quote and that I was going to end up paying more.

I did nothing, and waited for the pickup date. The other guys came picked up my stuff and I didn't have to pay any extra.

So, if you can do the moving yourself, do it. I know it's a lot of work, but you don't have to go thru all the BS from people like these. Plus you will get a few other surprises along the way until your stuff is actually delivered.

The whole experience was very unpleasant. So, BE CAREFUL WITH THESE PEOPLE.

Long-distance move from Camarillo, CA to Round Rock, TX

Unprofessional/ Scam

Do not use this company, they are a scam. I initially booked with them and they quoted me $3,900 from California to Texas and said it would take 5-7 days to get my things. Once the actual movers (West Coast Moving) showed up on moving day, the movers told me that it was going to be $7,800 not the initial $3,900. I complained that there were less items packed and going with the movers than I initially quoted so it should be less not twice as much. The mover at my house began to get extremely frustrated and became very unprofessional by using foul language. He then proceeded to try to bully me into signing the contract and the higher price. When I refused he began to video tape my house for inventory (without my permission) and in the video included furniture and boxes that were not a part of the move to make it look like there was extra things. He then called his “dispatch”. After speaking with his dispatch he informed me Gold Standard would reach out. Gold Standard told me they reached a deal with the movers for a more reasonable price of $4,800. I told them I would consider it. When I talked to the mover at my house he told me no that wasn’t the deal he made with them and proceeded to bully me into the contract. As I told him I was not going to sign because these weren’t the terms we agreed to, he proceeded to use foul language and told me he didn’t need my business and he was leaving. Also, while I was on the phone with Golf Standard, the mover at my house began to smoke a cigarette in my garage without my permission.

I proceeded to call Gold Standard the following day to get my deposit back and I sat on hold for 5 hours. When I got to be first in line I got forwarded to the after hours voicemail even though it was only 1:45 PM Pacific Time (4:45 EST) when they don’t close until 6 PM. I called the day after that at 6:05 am Pacific (9:05 EST), sat on hold for an hour and forty minutes before making it to number one in line. Once I made it to number one in line, I was once again forwarded to their after business hours line. I was forwarded at 7:45 am or 10:45 EST. I have left two voicemails and have not received a call back.

Ever since I signed the contract I have not been able to get a hold of anyone from their company and have had nothing but problems. This is the worst company to use and is a complete scam as they refuse to provide a professional and reliable mover.

Long-distance move from Portland, OR to Memphis, TN

This is my last correspondence with Gold Standard Moving and Storage;

To the owner, management and staff of Gold Standard Moving,

Yes, It is now After 7 PM PDT. I was promised yet again today that the moving truck was en route and would be here by 7 PM. Your company is now in default of contract. I have been lied to all week long by many people with your company. Every person I spoke with lied about the arrival time of the truck. This is no way to do business. I spent the week on hold for 45 minutes plus time and time again, and could not get answers. I did get many promises. With each passing day and phone call, with every rep I spoke with I got more and more upset. I did try my best to be respectful until, having been lied to yet again I lost my temper with your employee, Lily. For that I am very sorry. It is never ok to yell curse words at someone, and I am ashamed that I behaved that way.

That said, the treatment of a paying customer who has put their trust and faith in your company is abysmal. Because it became ever more apparent that East Freight Logistics was not coming, my husband had to drive 6 hours round trip to get a uhaul trailer on such short notice. We still have many items that have to be moved. We are scrambling at this point (after hours) to find a truck and storage unit to store our belongings until we can make arrangements to return from Memphis to Portland to get them to our new home.

I will be making a full report to the BBB. I will be reviewing your company Gold Standard Moving and Storage with YELP, Google, Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, Tumbler, etc. I fully intend to get some rectification for this shameful behavior of a company to scam trusting people out of their money, time and trust.

Shame on you!

Long-distance move from Newport, KY to Owings Mills, MD

Very unethical company, probably even fraudulent

The 5-star reviews are certainly fake, should have read them closely before working with this company. All the 5-star reviews sound alike and there is no variation (where are the 4- and 3-star reviews?). Paid a deposit and movers never showed up, I was forced to sell my furniture. Still trying to get my deposit back. Have called them multiple times and apparently a manager has to sign off on a refund, they said I would hear back from them in 2 days about the refund. Haven't heard back from them in 2 weeks now. Their wait time is close to an hour just to talk to a representative (likely because there is a long line of pissed-off customers waiting to talk to them) so it's very inconvenient having to chase them down. Will be filing a police report if I don't receive my deposit back. Will also be reporting to BBB and FTC. Overall, save yourself the headache and find a different company.

Total con job

Never ever use this company. Rent a Uhaul and drive yourself. No matter what. These cons gave us a quote of $7000.00 and after they had our belonging on the highway, somewhere in America, called to let us know it would cost us another $6000.00 to get it back.

Do NOT hire this company

It is very surprising to see any 5 star reviews on here after the experience we just had today. My mother in law hired “Gold standard” moving about a month ago to move her from California to North Carolina. She made numerous phone calls their team about exactly what was in the storage unit that was to be moved and narrowed it down to a list of items that were for sure included in the price quote. Over the phone they try very hard to make it seem like they are professional and going to make your move easy. Because that’s the point of hiring a moving company right. This morning when the truck showed my mother in law went to the unit herself, I should have been there and that’s my fault, but I guess I trusted that “gold standard” right off the bat the completely unprofessional and erratic mover that seemed to be on drugs started saying there was no way her items would fit on the truck and talking to her like she was a child. She informed him that not all of it was going but he wouldn’t even touch anything in the unit and said she had to pay an extra 2000 on top of the 4500 she was already paying. ALL THE ITEMS ARE LISTED IN THE CONTRACT. So she went back and forth asking him to try and fit the stuff in because she knew it would fit but he wouldn’t do it. He got in his truck and left. She payed over 2,000 dollar deposit and he claims she canceled the job which did not happen. So now we are screwed. A few people answered the phone and basically said they are triple booked and it’s going to be hard to book another job to move her stuff. Customer service literally said there is not much they can do. This company doesn’t care about you or their contract. I worked for a moving company for years and this was the most unbelievably shady so called moving company I have ever seen. You can tell just by the people they hired to move her. PLEASE DO NOT HIRE THEM. You will regret it

DO NOT BOOK

This company is dishonest, expensive, does not listen, does not take responsibilities for its errors, and is incompetent. It is essentially a middle man that contracts out movers and acts like they do no wrong. Also the fact that you have to email to get a manager shows there lack of regular business sense.

I am extremely unsatisfied with my move and service associated with my move. My girlfriend and I scheduled our move months in advance and allowed them ample time for the company to move us on 7/1-7/3,as written in our agreement. But to this company a written agreement means nothing. We had an agreement on this time and they did not deliver on their side of the deal. A supervisor I talked to offered only $100 compensation for the “minor inconvenience.” I later told her that it was more than an minor inconvenience and that we had to extend our lease and it cost $260. She agreed to discount us that at least. They then scheduled our move for 7/6 or 7/7. We were told every time we called customer service we would get a call 24 hours before the move and 1 hour before the move. We called customer service on 7/5 and 7/6 about payment methods and they never told us we would be moving on 7/6. We never got a call on 7/5 saying we would be moving on 7/6. But we got a call while driving 12 hours away that the mover would be there in one hour on 7/6. We did not get any notice 24 hours before, as we were always told and left because we had an international flight in the early morning of 7/8 and set up a proxy for 7/7. We called customer service and they would not let us talk to a supervisor and told us it was our fault that we were not there, taking no responsibility for the fact we got no notice. We scrambled while driving to get a new proxy.

The customer service has been horrible. Every time we call the estimated wait time is off and we wait at least 50 minutes. The phone service also drops our calls multiple times so the wait time is usually 1 hour plus. When we talk to the customer service people they always tell us something different, such as whether or not we can pay by check when the movers come. On 7/5 we were told we could and on 7/6 we were told we could not. The workers were also very rude. Also we were charged twice once when our estimate increased and they are a very dishonest company. We still have not received the $100 or $260 refunds or talked to a supervisor as we believe we are owed more of a discount for their mistakes.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY

This company is a scam. The estimate is fake. They sell your move to another company and all the employees are felons and dopers. They destroy your belongings. They do not deliver for weeks after they said they would. They put you in a jamb so you will sign anything under pressure and lie about everything. They will make your life a nightmare. AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS.
