We are moving from MD to CA and they quoted us a price that we accepted after a full review of all the goods we were taking then showed up with the truck only to tell us we would have to buy more space for another 6000$ and they still couldn’t get it all in. They purposely misled us, and we felt forced us to use them because we had no choice on the day of our cross country move. Please do not use this company!! I cannot say it enough. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! They are SCAMMERS!! I called the company and was told by a representative, Mitchell Parsons, that they just give an estimate and of course it’s going to be more…that’s expected and when I told him that is the definition of a scam, that if it was 1000$ more or so I could get that but 6000$ more?!

SCAM! DON'T DO IT! THEY ARE A BROKER, NOT A FULL-SERVICE MOVING COMPANY. Read the contract. Real movers will come to your home to evaluate your items and give you an honest and fair quote. Gold Standard does not. Do not give them a deposit over the phone. They will broker out to a scamming "moving company" (American Home Relocation in my case) who operate like thugs. Pursuant to their contract, Gold Standard is supposed to verbally disclose that they are a broker, which they did not do. Nor did they communicate who the moving company will be. That is a surprise on your moving day when you're expecting Gold Standard movers and a random no name moving company with unprofessional movers show up in your home.The movers will try to exhort more money out of you and threaten to keep YOUR PERSONAL PROPERTY if you do not pay (there is no contract with the moving company, and they have no right to your things). It has been a nightmare. They will lie to you to get your business then treat you like you are not a paying customer. Gold Standard does not want to take any accountability for the job once they have your deposit. The delivery of my personal property is 19 business days overdue (40 business days total) and I can't get a delivery date out of anyone. Different customer service rep every time you call with different excuses. They are in severe breach of their "binding" contract. I must now take legal action. You would think it be easier for them to just do the job they claim to do, but they would rather scam hardworking people. It's a sin and a shame.

Do not use. I told them I had 5 bedroom sets, an oversized sectional, Dining room set, kitchen table, outdoor furniture, freezer, and more. Moving company came and said I was only allotted 1200 square feet and it would be an extra 10000 dollars to move my furniture. I was guaranteed on the sales pitch it would come in 10 days. When the movers came they said it would be more like three weeks. When I called gold standard they told me I either had to pay the additional price or lose my security deposit. They were unsympathetic and did not try to work with me at all.

I called to get a quote and after the quote was given I asked for a confirmation number so I could discuss it with my spouse who was at work at that moment and call back with the confirmation number to confirm the move. I was told I should “light a fire under my butt” because the move was a few weeks away. Then the guy stated I obviously wasn’t serious about the move and wasted his time. I have never been so disrespected by customer service personnel in my life. It was unprofessional and insulting. I do not recommend this company at all.

We hired these guys and paid a $900 deposit. They gave a 4 day window for when they would show up to ship our items. When they didn’t show during the 4 day window, I then requested a refund, which they “approved”. They said we would receive the refund in 9-12 business days. After that didn’t happen, I started calling every week and they keep saying they are “switching banks” and you’ll get a refund next week. Every time I asked to speak with a manager and was told that there is no manager and the workers have no contact with management other than email. 45 days after our refund was approved we still have yet to receive a refund for service the never provided. DO NOT HIRE THESE THIEVES OR GIVE THEM ANY DEPOSIT! IF YOU DO YOU, YOU WILL BE SEVERELY FRUSTRATED!!!

I was convinced by Tristan to take them over PODs as it would be cheaper and I’d get movers included. I believed him but I guess he just did what he had to get a sale or maybe there was serious misunderstanding? I’m so sad and crying as the movers showed up today but I never got the 24 hour courtesy call so I didn’t know they’d arrive today. There also wasn’t an email for their arrive day and time just an estimated days. Since I didn’t get the 24 hour courtesy call yesterday I figured they’d arrive Friday. Unfortunately I have medical conditions and was sick in bed all day yesterday (Wednesday) but again I figured they weren’t arriving till Friday as I never got the courtesy call. I got a call today (Thursday) saying they were an hour away. I’ve been on the phone with customer service for awhile now trying to figure this out.

The driver showed up and said he would at least look at all my stuff and see if they can get started. But I still need to go to the bank for their money and drop off my internet router and book my hotel as I’m driving up to Oregon.

The driver said I had more boxes than was stated and so it’d be more so I said ok how much more? Btw I also never got my follow up inventory call. I figured 20 more boxes wouldn’t be that much more but the driver said instead of my payment of $561.48 for here and when they arrive in Oregon it would be around $1800 for here and when they arrive in Oregon. I admittedly started crying because that’s more than triple the price. I kept trying to understand why it’d be that much more and he asked to take photos of my stuff and that he’d call his supervisor to see what they could work out. I called customer service and they said the driver said I canceled service but I didn’t. There’s no where I said I canceled service. I wanted to know why it would be that much more for some more boxes. Now I’m being told that because I supposedly canceled my deposit is forfeit and I need to find other movers. I barely make enough money. I made $26,000 last year. I’m trying to move out of LA and to a more affordable state and I’m also leaving abusive roommates. I’m doing my best and I really didn’t expect this. Yes every place can be good or bad but my move was very cut and dry. Please help. I need out of here and now I’m out the deposit of $1274. The movers could just come back tomorrow and I’ll throw out stuff. I don’t know why I’m being told to forget everything? I never canceled and I have evidence I never canceled.

We used Gold Standard as our broker and was assigned Virgin Moving. The whole process was stressful, confusing and a lot more expensive than we expected. It seems like we got totally screwed by our broker. When Virgin Moving showed up we had to pay an additional $1000 even though my inventory matched what I went over with the broker. Mind you, I already paid an additional $700 to the broker on the quality check day. Why did have to do such an extensive quality check if the cubic square feet was going to be off? I measured everything and my inventory matched the inventory on pick up day. Iwas told by the owner we either had to pay it it or they’d leave because it was no their problem. Mind you, if they left, we would have been out of our $1900 deposit and would have owed redispatch fees and would have had to find another truck. They did wrap our furniture very well and the guys on pick up were nice. The next stressful part was it was very unclear when our stuff was going to arrive we got three different answers from the broker, Virgin moving and the guys at pick up. Thankfully our stuff showed up within 3 weeks. Only 1 bookcase was broken but it was one of those cheap target ones. The boxes were I rough shape but luckily I used heavy duty Home Depot boxes and packed everything very well in bubble wrap. All of our inventory was accounted for. At delivery, they tried to charge us more money saying it was more than 75 steps. We were on a first floor apartment, no steps, and it was a straight sidewalk from where the truck could park. Lesson was- NEVER USE A BROKER!!! Also, book directly with a moving company or simply sell your stuff or drive it yourself.

They will jump up the price with the same goods you originally had on your list - stating the 1st guy didn't ask the size of the boxes. Farm it out, then do nothing at all to help you when you have problems with the carrier. Their customer service even hung up on me when I reached out for help getting my goods delivered. It's too late for a refund after they jump up the price, and you're stuck!! Now, after I filed a BBB complaint, all they are doing is quoting industry standards, not the real complaint against them. Would NEVER use them again, nor would I ever recommend them. If I could give 0 stars, I would!!

Moving broker (Gold Standard Moving and Storage LLC (U.S. DOT# 3422711)) and carrier (JG Transportation, LLC d/b/a J. Gentle Van Lines (U.S. DOT# 1977019)) conspired to defraud us of $1,240 while failing to provide any of the services we contracted for. Gold Standard is actually not a moving company; it is a dishonest broker. They collect consumers’ deposits (e.g., $1,240) then pawn consumers off to unscrupulous carriers (e.g., JG).

According to the Better Business Bureau (“BBB”), two moving brokers are operating under the name “Gold Standard Moving and Storage.” Both have a BBB Rating of F (FAIL). The company uses two different business addresses to obfuscate that it is the same entity.

“CURRENT ALERTS FOR THIS BUSINESS / Pattern of Complaints: BBB files contain a pattern of complaints from consumers that allege specifically, consumers alleging prices increased after agreement were made. Some consumers allege that they canceled within the allowed time frame and have not received a refund. Others allege that they have not received their items and are unaware that Gold Standard Moving & Storage LLC would broker their move to another company.”

I can attest that Gold Standard has not taken any meaningful steps to mitigate its deceitful business practices. Based on the complaints filed with the BBB and the U.S. Department of Transportation, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, it appears that Gold Standard is engaged in more illegal business practices than ever before.

According to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, as of August 27, 2021, customers filed 285 complaints against Gold Standard, including 69 for Deceptive Business Practices, 55 for changes to Estimate/Final Charges, 17 for holding customers’ property Hostage, etc.

Gold Standard averages 36 complaints per month or more than one every calendar day. That is absurd! At this rate, Gold Standard will have more than 432 consumer complaints for the calendar year 2021.

Estimate/Final Charges: Gold Standard’s business practice includes, among other things, low-balling the binding estimate for the sole purpose of fraudulently inducing customers to contract with the company. Immediately thereafter, customers are required to make a deposit. I made a $1,240 deposit with Jade Wilson.

However, Gold Standard does not accept credit cards or debit cards; therefore, I had to pay via electronic check over the phone (others pay via the internet). According to Jade, this payment method benefits customers because credit card companies take too long to issue customers’ refunds. That explanation was false. Jade lied. Gold Standard accepts payment only via this format to ensure that consumers cannot get a refund if they challenge the charges. My bank explained this to me when I challenged the charges.

Material Change in Price: Despite its name (Gold Standard Moving and Storage LLC), the company does not disclose to consumers that it is a broker and not a carrier (i.e., they are the middlemen who do not do any moving). They also do not disclose that they will outsource your move after taking your deposit. When the actual movers arrive (e.g., JG), they immediately jack up the binding estimate by 55% (from 963 cf to 1,500 cf); 30 minutes later, they raised it again to 1,700 cf (an increase of 77%). Please note, the movers (JG) confirmed that we had no more items than we reported for the original estimate. However, JG claimed Gold Standard underestimated the cf. This is discussed in more detail below. JG also wanted to charge additional fees for “bulky items,” “heavy items,” and a long-distance carry despite describing everything to Gold Standard before the original estimate and before making the $1,240 deposit.

Hostage: JG refused to tell us the additional cost. They refused to provide us with any monetary amount. JG repeatedly stated they would take our property first and then provide us with the final number. In such cases, if we didn’t pay the increased amount, regardless of the amount, JG would hold our property (i.e., hostage), whereby they could sell it if we do not pay. You can imagine that most Americans do not have an additional $2,000 - $4,000 of cash readily available on the spot. Given these difficult times, it is even more unlikely that consumers can pay such inflated amounts without any prior notice.

According to the BBB, Gold Standard has been in business for one (1) year. However, it appears that Gold Standard also operates as (1) United American Moving LLC and (2) US Pro Moving And Logistics LLC. United American had 291 complaints, including 67 for Deceptive Business Practices, 54 for changes from Estimate/Final Charges, 15 for holding customers’ property Hostage. US Pro had 626 complaints, including 130 for Deceptive Business Practices, 106 for changes from Estimate/Final Charges, 48 for holding customers’ property Hostage, etc.

These are criminals!

Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $4301

Do not use! Gold Standard brokered my small load from Waukesha Wisconsin to Bonita Springs Florida using Lets Move ,inc. out of Illinois to do the actual move.

The initial contact and estimate was fine. 3 days before the move "Quality Assurance called". "Frederick" suggested I add an additional 48 cubic feet to my estimate at 4.75 per so none of my stuff would be left off the truck. He indicated that the movers would measure and I would get my additional money back if the space was not used. My goods fit comfortably in a 4x10x7 storage locker.That is why the initial estimate was 286CF. The estimated cost was about 9 dollars per cubic foot total.

The movers did not measure nor did they seem to know anything about the additional CF. I let the move go ahead figuring I would call Gold Standard that day to discuss. Multiple calls to them including customer service resulted in $1200 beyond the initial estimate for 48CF. Yes, $25 per CF. I was told you signed the agreement so you owe. There was no measurement, no adjustment so I ended up with a small move costing me 3800 dollars. Basically it was my fault for assuming they would be true to their word. There was never an explanation why the cost for 48CF was so exorbitant. I see other reviews with the same complaint. Very deceptive! Do not use.

Gold Standard Moving and Storage told us our household goods would be moved from WA to NY within 7 to 21 business days. It has now been over 54 business days. We have contacted them repeatedly and all they have no information on where are things are or willingness to provide any help. From our point of view we paid Gold Standard Moving and Storage over $3,000 to come and steal our things. Their customer support team told us only their retention team can handle refunds and their retention team claims only the customer support team can do this, both teams claim that there are no managers or people within the company to escalate to. We feel extremely cheated and hope other people do not have to go through this same miserable experience that we did.

Absolute scam. They're impossible to get in touch with. The company they assigned to my move had an F rating with the BBB and for good reason. I received a quote from Gold Standard for my move months in advance. The day of my move, the company they hired showed up and presented a new quote that was literally DOUBLE the amount. I was moving from the West coast and so when the company showed up at 5pm PST it was after hours on the East coast and thus impossible to get in touch with Gold Standard. They refused to mediate between myself and the company until my possessions were on their truck, which was unacceptable. Save your time and money.

I was pressured into paying for a move that I was not 100% sure I was doing. However, to get the "special" pricing and secure a truck, I needed to pay a deposit of $1,403. Of course it is fully refundable. I cancelled the next day, received an email confirming my cancellation within in 9-12 days. Now it is 42 days later and nothing. The voicemail of "Jade" is always full, email is returned as an invalid address, as soon as customer service hears you are calling about a refund and not a sale I am put on endless hold. Currently, I have been on hold for 94 minutes!

BEWARE!!!!!!! Do not give them your bank account number. The bank can not reverse a draft. This is a clear sign of their intent to deceive and steal from you.

So sad that "Jade" has to use her pleasing personality to rip people off.

Wow. Totally taking advantage of Grampa.

4 weeks after they picked up his things, they finally arrived. TV broken. Pictures broken. Vase smashed. Lamp broken. The drivers/loaders forced him to give them an extra $780 in cash before they'd unload and the bed still hasn't arrived. I imagine they will try to hold him up for more money if and when it does show up.

We are cutting our losses. Keep the bed and consider yet another bad review as payment for the damaged items, since I'm sure they will NEVER pay a claim.

PLEASE DON'T USE THIS OUTFIT.

Seriously, don't even bother with their low-ball quotes.

My move was canceled after they promised gold star movers. It was cancelled two days after the scheduled dates. That was so inconvenient for my move from AR to FL. I was approved for a refund on july 5th, 2021. After many calls, being on hold for 20-30 mins or more, was told my request was forwarded to accounting. I even wonder if there is an accounting dept. I actually was refunded, 60 days later. I'm surprised I was not scammed for my $3000. Stop, do not go forward with them. Save yourself the stress.

We originally contacted Guy on 8/2/21 for a move from Cherry Hill, NJ to Miami, Fl. We gave him the dates and details of our move, stating the delivery needed to be the week of 8/24/2021. He stated that if we were flexible with pickup time it would not be an issue and our belonging would be in Miami when requested. He even calculated the number of miles per day the drivers could drive and reassured us it would not be a problem. We then completed the quality assurance check on 8/13/21 where we went through our entire moving inventory and even gave box and bin measurements to the person we spoke to. He updated our price accordingly.

We were then contacted with a pickup date that was 8/19 between 3-6pm. We called and re-confirmed this date and time with Gold standard moving. One day prior to that (on 8/18) the movers called stating they were two hours away. We were not completely packed or ready to load our belongings as we were given a different date and time. We called Gold standard and we’re offered NO assistance in the matter. The movers then did not show up until after 9pm and we proceeded to get noise complaints for neighbors about the move so late at night.

The movers then stated our estimate was wrong, the sizes of the boxes and bins were done incorrectly and charged us for DOUBLE the square footage we were quoted in our binding estimate. Then driver tried fix pricing to add more stuff in the delivery because he realized the fees were absurd (those were his exact words).

Today the movers called and told us there will be a 2-3 week delay in delivering our belongings to Miami. We have a 3 month old in which ALL of the things we need to care for him are on with the movers, we have plane tickets that we bought with the expectation of a timely delivery. We also now cannot guarantee we will be there when the delivery is made.

We contacted Gold Stand Moving with these issues and were given no assistance and told to contact the movers who are clearly not helping us. Our contact states that Gold Standard will act on our behalf to resolve any delays/issues encountered. This has not happened.

If these issues of pricing and timing are not resolved I will be contacting both agencies stated above as well as taking any other recourse available to us regarding this fraud.

Ps. It’s 31 days and we still never received our delivery and personal items. They most likely won’t deliver it until about 45 days!!!!! Unacceptable. Run away from this company!!! Run run away!!!

Gold Standard Moving quoted me an initial price based on an inventory of $2.6 to move from California to Texas. By the time they called to officially measure cubic inventory which we accurately described (my husband is in construction, I am a designer, we know how to measure) it was too late to cancel. We paid them the amount described to cover the cost of the additional cubic footage. we went from 411 cubic feet to 590 cubic feet, and paid a sum of $490 after paying the initial deposit of $980. Mind you, they pressure you with fear tactics to immediately transfer funds and sign contracts and do not get off the phone with you to review. Yes, total red flag, but not being evil myself and moving cross country, my husband and I fell victim to this scheme.

The movers the sub contracted (and only notified they would subcontract to us 24 hours prior, revealing they are in fact not a moving company) arrived, barged through my home, took photos of my home and belongings (WREAKING OF CIGARETTES) without introducing themselves.

The moving company we were assigned has the absolute worst reviews I have ever seen. Its terrifying.

Gold Standard moving and storage promised to dissassemble our furniture and re stage it. The second the movers saw the very simple four top table they refused to do the disassemble unless I paid and additional 5 k as it magically didn't fit anymore.

When I called for customer service they told me they would not help me, hung up the phone and blocked my number!

I have to temper this with I did not have them move me. I initiated the move and put a $2200 deposit. They do not accept credit cards for what is now obvious reasons. They tell you a few days before the move the quality control department will contact you to verify what you have. Of course this puts it past the 10 days you have to cancel the contract so if the price changes you are stuck. After talking to people who have used movers and reading online at 8 days I decided to move myself so I called and cancelled. I got a nice letter saying my refund would be in 9-12 working days. It is now 40 working days or 8 weeks and they just say processing problems due to covid and it will be another 4-6 weeks. I have filed with the BBB but they really can't do much. I'm investigating my options.

THEY NEVER SHOWED UP! TOOK MY MONEY AND GHOSTED ME. The first experience was fine, we calculated boxes and furniture and they gave me a quote. Three days before they're suppose to come they call to schedule a final inventory, and on the second call of course here they charge me ANOTHER $1k. Guy was a jerk, was hassling me saying if I had rugs or a vacuum that was extra... ARE YOU KIDDING ME? The company called me on a Thursday saying they would show up the next day, come Friday, no one ever showed. They called me and said all the drivers got COVID-19 so they were sending another truck. Saturday comes and goes, no one ever shows up. I call on Sunday and they say there's no truck signed up to take my stuff. No one ever called me again, no one ever came, they never offered to give me a refund. I had to pack all of my shit into a truck and drive 3 days across country. Most stressful experience of my life.

I thought I could trust these guys, they were so nice and quoted a great price--too good to be true. It was all a SCAM. I ended up paying $3000 MORE than the quote and had to wait THREE weeks to see my stuff, which by the way was all scratched up. In addition they attempted to charge an extra $500 to unload my stuff because the elevator was "200 steps" from my apt. I couldn't believe it-- what should've been such an easy 1 bedroom move turned into a complete nightmare. Do NOT trust Gold Standard Moving--terrible!

Do Not Use. Rating on Better Business Bureau is a C+, have many complaints. I contracted with Gold Standard who ended up playing the role of middleman and sold me a bill of lies. Once I signed on the dotted line with Gold Standard, they simply handed me to another company (West Coast Relocation Services) and washed their hands of the whole process. Every call I made to get status they said it was not in their hands. Gold Standard is dishonest; the sales person continually fed me lies to entice me to use their services. They told me I would receive my items in 7-14 days, in the end it actually took 7 weeks. Gold Standard lacks customer service, wait times on the phone are over an hour, said would call back with an answer never did, or disconnected when they had no answers. The company they hired to move me was incompetent, Gold Standard contracted with them, they should take responsibility for the horrible experience I had with West Coast Relocation Service.

Gold standard is accountable for the moving company they selected for my move. That is what their company is all about. They should not be able select the moving company and then walk away. They are hired to find a reliable, dependable and competent moving company. They did not do their job, they failed to find a reputable moving company. They found a company that stored my items in a damp area for 7 weeks, who destroyed my belongings, crushed my boxes, opened my boxes and failed to deliver all my boxes.

I contracted with Gold Standard and they did not inform me that the were a broker until after they took my non refundable The company they choose had still not delivered by stuff after 8 weeks They will not help and say it is not there responsibility. They also under bid the job and I was charges an additional $1000. They waiting until the last day I could be in my house before West Coast Relocation showed up. I would use a national carrier that owns it own trucks. If you use this company you will be sorry.

This is nothing but a horrible broker co that contracts your stuff out to other very unprofessional moving companies such as (Mirit Great America) who clearly agreed to have our belongings to us in Florida on the 8th of November,here it’s now the 19th and we don’t have nothing but excuses from both negative entities of a company. DON’T use either company nor other companies affiliated with (Golden Standard and storage) I’m so glad I didn’t use their affiliate car moving company because I’m sure that would’ve also been a disaster. However I did use (SONIC CAR SERVICE) which they have been everything in professional and on time services. (GOLDEN STANDARD AND STORAGE and MIRIT GREAT AMERICA) is not to be use for NO business. This really needs to be a CLASS ACTION SUIT. Truly all these people are not lying, and any positive reviews are nothing but a RUSE.

I have no idea how they are still in business but I am making it my life mission to prevent them from abusing as many people as I can. We were lied to every single time we spoke to any representative from this company. To make matters worse they also lied to the company they subcontracted our move to. I can't say this strongly enough, DO NOT TRUST YOUR MOVE TO THIS COMPANY. I sent 30 text messages to their emergency text only line in an attempt to clear things up and NO ONE COULD BE BOTHERED TO CALL ME. Our move cost us almost 3 times the original estimate. Do not hire any moving company over the phone. If they don't actually visit your home to give you a educated estimate RUN!!!! They are going to rip you off.
