Long-distance move from Eugene, OR to Phoenix, AZ

Terrible experience - would go back in time if we could to avoid them.

RUN. Do not book with this company. My grandparents booked with them to move all of their stuff from Oregon to AZ. Once they took their $900 deposit off them, they no longer cared what happened. They then knowingly hired a FRAUDULENT moving truck company to move my grandparents' things.

My grandparents have been here almost a month now and are getting the run around about where their things are and when they'll be here. My husband talked to someone at Gold Standard today and she told him it's not their problem. When he confronted her and asked why they'd hire a fraudulent company, she hung up on him.

He never once yelled at her or raised his voice, he didn't use bad language. He just asked her a question and she hung up.

My grandparents are having to share an air mattress right now while my grandpa is recovering from open heart surgery and nearly dying in the hospital. They barely have any funds since they're on a fixed income and they gave this moving company about half their monthly income just to book this truck in the first place.

The woman with Gold Standard gave us two options: 1. Wait indefinitely for our shipment and hope it shows up

2. Track down the shipment and go pick it up ourselves.

Don't use this company. They're awful and they do not care.

Frauds

They do not identify as a broker but they are. They are to identify themselves as a broker. They claim they are veteran operated. Shameful as no way a veteran would operate this dishonestly. They quote one price. Then three days prior will call you and suggest that you need more cubic feet. According to Frederick I was not to pay for any cubic feet that I did not use rather it was just a reservation. I was told 2 trucks would transport my goods directly to Nashville. Instead one truck showed and my items will be warehoused then shipped. Maybe six weeks before I receive. I suggest to avoid this company at all costs and use someplace reputable. I have filed a complaint with the Federal Motor Safety Administration with the Department of Transportation due to they’re questionable business practices. I suggest anyone else with similar experience to do the same.

Crooks!

They are definitely not what they appear to be. They take your deposit, which they jack up before the move, then they say that another company is going to actually move you. The so called mover showed up at our house in a small truck, which couldn't possibly hold all our stuff. As soon as he got in the door, he started writing down everything that was going to cost us more than stated. I found some information on the internet about them, so we were leary. Turns out, every bad thing you've read, is absolutely true. My husband asked him to leave 3 times and then raised his voice and led him to the door. We lost $2300 (our deposit), but it could have been much worse. We didn't have enough to hire a mover after this, so we had to drive a Uhaul 1200 miles, with a trailer in tow with the things that didn't fit in the truck. We even had to leave our sofa, love seat, and exercise bike behind.

We are not young people. This is, by far, the worst move either of us has ever made!

SCAM

Scam!!Scam!! If I could give them 0 stars Iwould.Horrible they will tell you one price but when driver shows up then it's all jacked up. They use a third party. I put a deposit down of 3000 and was quoted about6000 but then I asked them if I took some off would it be cheaper and they said yes but when third party shows up they said no and it would take 2 trucks and 10000 dollars. So when that happens then they want to say refusal of service .Gold Storage when you see this and respond. Just give me my money back and nothing else don't try to say your sorry.

Long-distance move from New York to Florida

The worst you will ever meet

Never ever do business with them, they are scams.

They gave me a good quote to move from New York to Florida for 1600$, and until I accepted the quote they kept calling me every hour, but the nightmare starts after the track leaves your house.

The drivers asked me 150$ more to put the things on the track and was my husband that wrapped everything for them because they didn't have even the tools to assemble the bedroom.

They told me that from the moment they pick up the things it would take 5 days for me to get them, I waited but nothing was arriving and after 5 days when I called them I got the answer that everything was in the warehouse waiting for a truck and this would take 21+ days.

I had a new empty house for 3 weeks waiting for form my things to come, we had to buy air mattresses to sleep.

I kept calling every day and it was the same answer, after 3 weeks I got my things and my 60-inch TV was missing, a big box of tools ( about 600$ ) was missing, a real painting of 400$ was missing and 1 box of clothes too, instead they bring me a box of other people things.

The driver told me that he probably left them in another house he had to deliver before coming to me and that he was going to bring them in one hour.

After he left my house never picked up the phone, and now for 1 month I keep calling this trash company to open a dispute and they don't do it because they keep saying that are looking for my lost items.

Don't do business with them save yourself money and a BIG STRES. This is the worst experience I ever had

They deserve negative stars

ZERO STARS!!! I moved OVER A MONTH AGO and STILL have not gotten my stuff!!I have called them at least 3 or 4 times and NEVER did any of their "customer service" representatives (and I use that term loosely) got back to me to tell me when my goods would be delivered. Then I called the actual moving co Triple Crown Moving & Storage who has returned ZERO of my calls.

As a matter of fact Im on the phone with Gold Standard now -- I waited over 45min to get thru to "customer service" and when I asked to speak to a supervisor I was put back on hold -- that was at least 10min ago!!! Frankly, I JUST WANT MY HOUSEHOLD GOODS DELIVERED!

Outsource to terrible movers

Should be zero starts or negative. This company sure seemed nice on the phone but it is a broker company that makes a lot of false promises and does not give all the information nor does it follow up on phone calls to confirm your amount of stuff so you end up getting charged more when the moving company arrives and sees your stuff. They hire out terrible moving companies (Oasis Moving, Las Vegas) who take very long to move your items, will let your items sit in their storage unit for weeks/months, charge you extra money every way they can (and you have to pay or you don't get your stuff), damage many items by being careless/reckless, OPEN AND GO THROUGH YOUR BOXES, and STEAL ITEMS of their choosing. Then neither Gold Standard or Oasis think they are responsible for any of it. TERRIBLE companies that should be put out of business for allowing people who trust their personal belongings with someone to be taken advantage of, lied to, extorted, and STOLEN from. DO NOT USE GOLD STANDARD OR OASIS MOVING!

Scammers, liars, and thieves.

I am not really sure how this website rates their companies, but it is all lies. This company will lie to you to get your down payment and then renege on the agreement. They are not a moving company, they are brokers and sell your contract to the lowest bidder. Those movers also have very bad reviews.

They may or may not pick up your stuff. They may or may not deliver it. It surely won't be on time at the destination. But surely they will take your money and run. Take your money elsewhere, DO NOT trust anything they say.

Facts only.

Reasonable phone quote. But when the driver arrives, he says I have over twice as much as I was quoted, ……he was wrong. I was told a 7-10 day delivery.

After 2 weeks, I still have no belongings, and no-body will discuss my cubic footage used for a correct price.

Today,I have called dispatch several times……no answer, and then a message in Spanish.

I’ve called customer service x4, and they will not pick up my call after the first one.

Would join the chorus of zero stars if possible

I booked a move with GSMAS on 9/14/21 At that time the took an instant withdrawal from my checking account to book the move. THEY canceled a day after the scheduled date on 10/4/21. The refund was approved but will take 60 days for reasons no one at the company can explain or justify. Reviews I should have looked at sooner certainly seem to indicate they sit on deposits for as long as they can for jobs they do not do, and earn interest off the money. If they have a better explanation, they do not respond to e-mails to provide it, and they have had 1270 of my dollars for almost two months now for a job they did not do.

Very misleading

WORST COMPANY EVER!! Gold Standard Moving and Storage out of Florida. If I could give this company negative 100 stars or more I would. Customer service seems very sweet and makes you feel like you're going to have an easy move. Well, wrong! What they actually do is scam you in by telling you a set price that seems to good to be true. Should have known from that alone this has to be a scam. I paid my deposit seemed great at first. Well, oh boy! The movers never showed up at the time they were supposed to be there. It took them 3 days to even show up after I called customer service numerous times trying to figure out when the moving truck will actually show up. These guys showed up in a huge Penske moving at 10 pm on a Friday. These guys were supposed to show up on a Tuesday. So Friday at 10pm. The movers were smoking pot, and cigarettes, also asking me where a dispensary was in my town. They didn't even care that boxes were marked fragile. After loading my items, I was told the cost of my move would cost 3,000 more than my agreed price. I stated I was told the price I agreed too, can't pay that amount. These guys would not unload my stuff from their truck until I paid them at least $1,000 dollars. These guys didn't leave my home until after 1am, with a money order. I called customer service on that Monday, very different type of attitude from the customer service representative. It rude, he actually stated he didn't care about me or my experience. That he can't do anything for me and I was wasting his time. So now I am here writing this long review. PLEASE DON'T USE GOLD STANDARD MOVING AND STORAGE out of Florida. They just want your money and will take advantage of you in your stressful time of moving.

Kiss your money goodbye.

Booked this service to move but my plans changed the very next day. Thankfully, they said they would refund my deposit if I cancelled within 3 days. I cancelled within one and was told I would expect my refund shortly. It has been 3 MONTHS and I still haven't seen a dime. I've called multiple times and have been given a longer and longer time frame to expect my money back. I am down over $900 for zero services rendered and will have to consider legal action against this company. DO NOT USE THEM.

Getting back refund when move was canceled.

I had to cancel my moving of inherited items from California to Florida. This was going to cost over $1,000. This was a family decision but the agent, Paul Coffey, tried to bully me into not canceling the job. He stated “you let your brother make all your decisions”? This was extremely inappropriate. I was approved for a refund on 9/17/21. I still have not received it. Today is 11/18/21.

Long-distance move from San Francisco, CA to Minneapolis, MN

Cancelled less than 24 hours before arrival, WONT GIVE REFUND

It is not an exaggeration when i say this is the most unprofessional, dishonest business I have ever come across in my 29 years of living. They cancelled my move from San Francisco to Minneapolis less than 24 hours before they were supposed to be there. But they didn’t even tell me my move was cancelled, I had to call and find out. This left me with four days before I needed to be out of my apartment and get moved across the country. No apology, no remorse, and no accountability from Gold Standard. In fact, these poor people get satisfaction out of telling you off, you can hear it in their voices, which is indicative of a certain grade of human. If you are able to get passed their entry level associates who painfully lack foundational etiquette and general human decency, you may speak to Damien the supervisor. He was the worst of them all. He called me “bro” several times, stating “should have read the contract bro” and “you’re move is so tiny, we don’t even need you”. He clearly brings his own personal power and control issues and uses his pedestal at work to assert his sad self, but he forgets to bring any semblance of professionalism or competency, please pray for him. Now, these scammers won’t give me my deposit back, after their cancellation cost me a lot of money and stress. I am currently speaking with an attorney, and am moving forward with ensuring I get my money back. I suggest you do the same if you are waiting for a refund, and keep all emails and record phone calls like I did because if there is one thing that is for sure, these people will do this again.

This company is a SCAM!

For the love of GOD, RUN! HANG UP IF YOU GET PRESSURED!!! They brokered my stuff out to unprofessional moonlighting truck drivers. They will not take responsibility once your stuff is taken by a 2nd party. The 2nd party will not respond to your phone calls. The 2nd party then brokers your stuff out to a 3rd party to drive it down. They broke my expensive desk, lost a few boxes of clothing, and shattered a box of well-packed vintage crystal glasses. Fraudulent company

We used this company to move my stepdaughter from Texas to South Carolina. After listing everything that needed to be moved the price was doubled not once but twice. Long story short, after being told they would handle packing they didn’t and after being told the second payment would be more than was needed and we would get money back we didn’t. Instead, we were going to have the quote doubled again. We ended up paying the second quote to have 8 items moved, enough to fill the last 6 feet of the truck. We were then offered a refund of $2000 and after being promised a 3 month timeframe to receive the refund they then said they were having issues with their processing center. Everyone who works for this company knows exactly what they are doing to scam people. They are the lowest of low people. Absolute trash.

Long-distance move from Santa Ana, CA to Antioch, IL

Horrible experience!

Gold Standard Moving was a complete disaster, beginning to end. They are NOT an actual moving company, they are a BROKER that contracts with independent carriers.

I used Gold Standard to move from California to Illinois in 2021. I arranged my move with Gold Standard months in advance and was told my possessions would be delivered to my new home in 3-21 days.

My buyers were taking possession of my condo 8/31, so Gold Standard gave me a pickup date of Friday, 8/27. Plenty of time. The afternoon before my pickup, my phone rang, and it was the trucking company Gold Standard had contracted with. The guy told me he wasn’t coming: that Gold Standard had revised my move and he wouldn’t do it, so I had to call and tell them to find another truck because he wasn’t coming. Um, what?

I immediately called Gold Standard customer service. They apologized and told me they would find another carrier that would be there Saturday, and if they didn’t show up Saturday they would definitely come Sunday. Okay. Sunday would still be plenty of time, since I didn’t HAVE to be out until Tuesday at 5PM.

Saturday and half of Sunday went by with NO truck and ZERO communication. I tried calling a few times Saturday and was told there was no customer service on weekends. By Sunday afternoon I was fuming. I called their afterhours service and finally spoke with a rep, who told me they had NEVER arranged another carrier!

A truck FINALLY showed up at 11AM on Tuesday, 8/31. Upon arrival, the moving team demanded $2,000 more than Gold Standard had quoted me for my move! At that point I absolutely HAD to get out, so I just effing paid it. After they finished, I cleaned and walked out incredibly stressed 15 minutes before my buyers took possession. Ridiculous. I had planned MONTHS in advance to avoid exactly this scenario and here I was, a basket case.

One of the movers told me my things were going to LA to be unloaded and palletized, then reloaded onto a bigger truck for transport. It looked like they’d done a decent job packing, so I was not overly concerned.

Four days later, I was in Illinois and ready for delivery. Several days later I called Gold Standard for an update. It had been about 7 days since pickup. I was told, “Oh no! It’s 3-21 BUSINESS DAYS, not 3-21 calendar days. And the 3-21 business days didn’t start when your things were picked up. They started on the first day you told us you were in Illinois!” Fantastic. They had no info beyond this and said I’d get a call the day before my delivery, click.

I waited a few more days and called again, hoping for some shred of information. I was told it was Day 7, and they had no news. I waited another week. By my calculation, we were on Day 13, but the customer service rep told me that nope, it was only Day 9. How was it possible, I asked, that I had called the previous week and was told it was Day 7, and now, a whole week later, it was only Day 9? Again, I was brushed off.

Many days went by, with continued brushoffs and absolutely no information. I FINALLY received a call on 9/27 (28 days after pickup) saying my delivery would be the next day. Now for the delivery nightmare.

During palletizing and re-loading, my possessions were completely manhandled. Carefully packed, new boxes were WRECKED, many crushed and/or torn open. Antiques were damaged, some irreparably. Hardware was missing from beds. Items had massive amounts of packing tape applied to them, and I still can’t get the adhesive off. A dining table is warped by 3-4”. Many items look like they sat in the sun for an extended time, which made me wonder if everything sat in an LA parking lot for weeks, baking and fading in the August heat. Several items were lost completely.

I feel like I was put through an incredibly stressful experience, had my possessions destroyed, damaged or stolen, AND paid over $12K for the privilege. Gold Standard has a process for reporting damaged and lost items, but they make it as hard as they possibly can: massive forms, extremely specific instructions regarding the types of pictures you need to submit, AND they require that you have the original bill of lading (which they do NOT give you unless you knew to ask for a copy of it). I began the process, but honestly I just want to be done with this company and its BS.

Please, please learn from my experience and avoid Gold Standard like the plague!!!

Nightmare

Where to start, I was told 21 days total for my move, here we are 7 months later and still have not received all of my belongings. Was told on my initial setup that I was insured up to 300k dollars and after all this time I'm just now realizing they only insured me for $00.60 a pound. we're talking about 5-6 thousand dollars worth of loss and damage to include priceless family heirlooms. We had boxes that had been rummaged through. Scammers are more gentle in their heists. stay away! spend the extra money and go with pods or some other method, it will save you so much more money and much less heartache down the road. We also received other people's belongings that we have tried to return but no one seems to care, we have searched Facebook and tried to find this family in hopes that they may have some of our belongings as well. The date came and we had inclement weather on the 28th and I had no phone calls or text messages, letters or emails. When I called on the 31st they stated everything was backed up due to the weather. I explained I had to be out of my apartment that day. They told me I could have a refund and would expect it within 10 days. Here we are on March 12, 2022 nothing. No refund. When I called 2 weeks later I was told I would get my money in 30-60 business days and others have complained waiting longer than that. I will seek punitive damages in small claims court. They Scam and Hire Scammers

Well, ALL of our stuff was auctioned off by Princeton Moving who was hired by US Moving Pros (aka Gold Standard Moving). But first, their "customer service" people upped my quote and held me hostage unless I agreed to the new price. Yes, I did add a few items but not DOUBLE the price! So how it works is they apparently sub out the work to the low bidder. Low bidder (Princeton Moving, in this case, out of Illinois) picks up your household belongings, puts all your items in several storage locations (without your knowledge) and doesn't pay for the monthly storage fee. All the while, I'm calling to find out where is my stuff (literally hundreds of times - on hold or no answer for over and hour) and when is my delivery date. Then Public Storage puts it up on an online auction and they get 10% of the proceeds and Princeton gets 90%. My stuff was apparently mixed with 5 other peoples and they put the good stuff in the front of the unit so that the pictures will show expensive items. I found my 40+ year old guitar on Ebay - and the Seller said "tough luck".

Do your due diligence friends, unless you want all the irreplaceable items in your life gone forever - father-in-laws ashes, photos, childrens' adoption paperwork, diplomas, tools, medical devices, hand made quilts, clothes, guitars, ... the list is endless.
