Dumbo Moving and Storage

It's unfortunate that I even have to give this company 1 star to write this review. The disrespect I was subjected to on my move day is more in line with a negative 5 review. I am writing about my experience with this company for a move that was scheduled for January 8, 2026. I'll start off by saying my experience with the company leading up to the move was smooth. The day of the move the movers arrived on time and as part of the contract the movers were to move ALL the furniture with about 10 to 12 boxes. Three movers arrived and the lead mover assessed what needed to be moved. This did not make sense to me because pictures of what I needed moved had been sent to the company prior to the move day. There were three women at the house when the movers arrived while I went to the location where the things needed to be moved as there was a short window to get all of this done. The movers decided to start loading the truck with the boxes despite being told multiple times that the furniture was the priority. Once they got to a point where the truck could no longer fit the furniture they said they were done and I would need to call the company for a new quote. I expected this, however the person I spoke to was the most disrespectful unbusinesslike person I've ever encountered during a move. I was told they don't need my business and they understand what it is to move things. When I asked to speak to the person who I made the original reservation with I was told the person died in the week or two between the time I had made the reservation. At this point it had become a big joke. The movers proceeded to drive off with my belongings, leaving a bedroom set that needed to be moved THAT day. I called the company 3x to make a complaint and was finally connected to Becks who I had made the original reservation with and was told had died. Clearly he was NOT dead. Needless to say I let him know that their company came recommended to me by a family friend who had used their services 3 months prior. The only difference was a man was involved with that move. They saw all women and thought they could take advantage of us. I've moved belongings multiple times and this by far has been the worst experience. Its unfortunate I needed a licensed company for this move because I've had amazing unlicensed movers move my things with care and respect. If you're going to have someone lead a move, make sure they can communicate effectively. I would not recommend this company to my worst enemy. I was lied to, misled, yelled at, ignored and EXTREMELY disrespected during a time of high stress. The level of stress that was ADDED to the situation was disgusting. Negative stars all around. If you value your things, time, money and yourself, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!

I couldn't be happier with the service provided by Pavel and his team at Dumbo Moving. From the moment they arrived, they were fast, careful, and extremely efficient in packing my belongings for a cross-country move. They arrived on time and handled my belongings with the utmost care. Everything was wrapped so carefully by him and his team. Such professionalism by all involved. You can ask for unique requests, and they are happy to accommodate. I can't thank them enough. Grade A++++

We moved from Texas to Maryland, Dumbo Movers showed up at the new house. Only driver showed up. Waited 2 hours for help, one person showed up. Driver was arrogant and disrespectful, called cops on him. Broke hundreds of dollars of furniture and household items. Driver gave me a fake number to call. Driver took off while we weren’t paying attention, didn’t unload everything into the house, left it outside. Abandoned the guy that came to help him, had to take him to gas station to catch a bus. Awful experience, stay away from this company. I have pictures and documents to prove my situation.

This was the easiest and best move experience in Manhattan between coop elevator buildings! Bella supplied a price quote, insurance certificates, information on reserving freight elevators in both buildings—all with good humor! Valentin and his crew came on time, with tools and bags to wrap mattress & boxspring. They were careful and obviously experienced—completely professional. I recommend them to get you through the complicated, stressful requirements of a move in or out of NYC. They are the perfect blend of professionalism and helpfulness. Thank you Dumbo, it takes a magical flying elephant to get through a move in NYC!

If you're looking for movers who specialize in watching you work while they provide stellar background "entertainment," look no further! This crew is masterful at whining, phone-scrolling, and sneaking cigarette breaks, all while managing to avoid moving anything themselves. The few boxes they did pack? A delightful surprise—shattered items from every room thrown together like a chaotic scavenger hunt. Bubble wrap or paper? Never heard of it! New sofa cushions? Straight to the floor of the van, unwrapped of course! Curious where the closest available UHaul location is? You'll find it when you have to rent a last minute truck to do the move yourself. Oh, and they’ll leave early, half-finished, after pestering you for a tip. Hands down, the worst movers we've had in 5 NYC moves. Please, do yourself a favor and either do it yourself for free or use truly any other company.

I recently hired Dumbo Moving Company for a move from my one-bedroom apartment and had a truly frustrating experience. Initially, I was quoted a binding price . However, just before the move, the quote increased due to additional boxes for TVs and monitors. Despite this, the movers didn’t provide the promised monitor boxes and used flimsy cardboard ones, which was unacceptable for protecting my items.

The day of the move was chaotic. The truck was loaded poorly and ran out of space, leading to an unexpected extra charge. Despite paying an additional , the movers still couldn’t fit everything and left several items behind, including my bed and mattress, which they then hastily reloaded, claiming it was a favor.

To top it all off, I was pressured into giving a $1,000 tip, despite the poor service and additional costs. In the end, the move cost me around three times the original quote. I’m extremely dissatisfied with the service and recommend avoiding Dumbo Moving Company.

I was exceedingly happy with the customer service provided by Dumbo Moving & Storage, particularly by Marina. She, and everyone else I worked with, went above and beyond to make a stressful experience as seamless and stress-free as it could have been. I received a very reasonable quote and prompt responses to every inquiry. Proof of insurance was provided within minutes. When I needed to first reschedule, and then cancel, my move, they handled it in a very professional and compassionate manner. When I need to book this move again, or any other, I will absolutely use this company.

I recently had the pleasure of using Dumbo Moving for my move from a 6th-floor walk-up apartment in NYC (with no elevator!) to a first-floor apartment in Hoboken, and I couldn’t have been more impressed! Moving is stressful enough, but my two movers made the entire experience so smooth and worry-free.

Despite the 6 flights of stairs, they handled everything with ease and even managed to keep smiles on their faces the entire time—something I felt so bad about! Not only were they super friendly, but they also went above and beyond to make sure all my belongings were carefully wrapped and protected. Their attention to detail and positive attitudes made a huge difference.

I can’t recommend Dumbo Moving enough for anyone looking for reliable, professional, and hardworking movers who truly care about their customers. Thank you for making what could have been a nightmare of a move so much better!

This was our first time having someone else help with a move, and Dumbo made it super easy. Just a phone call, a quote, and a few quick forms to sign. The process was simple and painless, and the movers were professional and efficient. All of our furniture and belongings were wrapped and properly taken care of while being moved to the truck and into the new apartment. Would definitely recommend them for anyone moving in the NYC area, and we plan to use them again in the future.

They arrived on time, handled our belongings with the utmost care, and made the entire process stress-free. Primary compliments to Mr. Joel Granatstein !! This gentleman truly cares about the customer and is extremely helpful and kind and patient throughout the entire process. Very knowledgeable and provides the best customer service you could ever ask for. In the end I really dont know what I would have done without Joel, to say that he went above & beyond is simply an understatement. JOEL IS LITERALLY THE BEST EVER #1 !!! The move itself was handled by 2 professional guys from truck # 124. I did not have the easiest stuff to move and they still got everything done within an hour. Super well packed and perfectly taken care of from start to finish. Got all my belongings transported half way across the country with zero damage and was an even smoother process on the delivery side. Pick up and delivery both completed without a single issue. In the end the truck even arrived to my destination days ahead of schedule which was such a nice surprise. Dumbo will accommodate you every step of the way. Very impressed with these guys & you will be too!

This was a cross-country move, so I was worried about my belongings bouncing around in the truck for days. But these people used ratchet straps to keep everything secure. I got updates at each major checkpoint, which really helped calm my nerves. When the truck finally arrived, nothing was out of place—even my favorite reading lamp was intact. They also helped unwrap my couch and TV stand. It felt like a seamless process, and it took less time than I anticipated. For anyone planning a long-haul move, this level of organization is exactly what you need.

At first, I was hesitant to give my information to James because of past experience. And boy was I nervous, when someone asked me, did you shop around? The answer was no. A friend had offered to help for free, and I was tempted. Then came the move - they were on time, and were perfect professionals. Esp. my man from North Africa, he got me to calm down, when I realized that we had a cultural barrier with how we call things. James didn't understand what I meant and he ticked the way he heard it and some things were left out. Everything was done well - wrapped and placed properly in the truck. and talk about unpacking? That was the best part. Thanks guys, you're the best.

This was my first experience hiring movers and it exceeded my wildest expectations. The scheduling and quote were a breeze/no hassle. Their customer service team was cordial and reached out to me to confirm before the moving date which was greatly appreciated. The crew was polite, friendly and EARLY. They offered no issues and were able to move everything quickly and with ease. They placed everything exactly where I wanted it, without breaking any furniture or even a sweat. I cannot recommend this company enough, if you are looking to hire movers Dumbo Moving is definitely the way to go for a stress-free experience!

The customer service at this company was excellent. After the move was all done, they called me to see if everything went well and if I was happy with the service. They even gave me a checklist to help me inspect all my belongings for any damage. When I noticed a small scratch on a table, they were amazing! They offered to send a specialist out to fix it for free, and they didn't charge me extra. They also sent me a helpful email with tips on how to settle into my new home, which was a nice touch.

Peter, Gaga & team were excellent and I cannot recommend them enough. I was very stressed about moving in Manhattan as my job is extremely busy. Peter was extremely responsive and answered all my questions via phone call or email within the hour each time. The movers arrived on time and I didn't have to lift a finger. They were extremely professional and took great care of all my items to ensure nothing was damaged. The movers arrived at 8am on the dot, and I was literally in my office sitting at my desk at 10:04am. I have already recommended to all my friends and coworkers. If I were to move again, I have no hesitation to use Dumbo Moving again 1000000%.

Additionally, the entire team is extremely professional & I felt the price was more than fair for the service they provided. I've had moving companies before charge additional for X, Y, Z but Dumbo Moving offered me two complimentary wardrobe boxes and carefully wrapped up my items. I had a few plants I forgot to let them know I had and the team even carefully placed them in a box for me securely tucked away. They've treated my items as if it were their own. I am thoroughly impressed.

Joel Granatstein has helped me with several complicated moves. I am disabled and need extra accommodation to help pack and move important family heirlooms and artwork and furniture in multiple locations. Joel meticulously priced all options and called to check in every step of the way, before, during and after each move. The service was so high above and beyond my expectations I cannot imagine ever moving with anyone else! Special shout out to Paata, Temo and David, my dream packer-mover team!
