City-Removals and Storage

We chose this company after a work colleague recommended them, and I am very pleased to say that everything went extremely well. We moved from a 4 bedroom house in KT area just a few streets away.
We also had a free property survey before the move and the representative who came over to do the assessment was very polite and professional. After this, in the same day we received the quote on our e-mail. The price, although not the cheapest, we thought was reasonable for the amount of stuff we had.
We also choose their packing service as with 3 children it was almost impossible to do it on our own. We had the whole house packed in about 7 hours by 3 of their staff, which we thought was incredible. Everything was packed properly, all the boxes were marked and they took very good care of all our artwork and fragile items in the house.
The next day we started early at 07:00 AM and they came right on time. After offering them a cup of tea they started emptying the house. I was happy to see that as explained by the representative from the property survey they used all sorts of furniture covers to protect our stuff. Also every single one of them was extremely polite and hardworking, going out of their way to ensure we were happy with the service.
They finished at around 09:00PM at our new house. They placed all items where we wanted and also reassembled our beds and wardrobes. We had many things stacked in the garage as we will be moving again in 6 months’ time.
No damages occurred whatsoever during the whole process.
Based on our experience with this company I would have no hesitation in recommending their services to anyone.
Also I posted this review as I was kindly asked by the company to provide feedback about their services at the end of the job
Thanks.

[Sorry for the lack of paragraphs here, the text editor doesn't allow line breaks] Removal type: Small flat removal into storage (private) >>> Total cost of removal: £230 >>> Total storage cost: £125 (5 weeks) >>>>>>>>>> IN SUMMARY: - Competitive removal rates - My items were treated well - NO damage - Professional service - Excellent communication - Be aware that storage is provided by Big Yellow - If you have a padlock, make sure CRS use it rather than buying a new one >>>>> Like many, I picked City Removals & Storage (CRS) because of the strong reviews on here and because their rates were very competitive. >>>>> I think I contacted more than 10 companies based in London, and CRS were the second cheapest. I picked them over the cheapest because of their Removal Reviews rating. >>>>> Though my review will mention some negatives, I would ultimately recommend the company. >>>>>>>>>> REMOVAL: I arranged a fixed price removal of £230. I was offered a rate of £65 per hour, but chose the fixed rate to negate any traffic delays. My move was originally to be from Stoke Newington to Woolwich on a Tuesday morning. At the last minute, due to issues with my new place, I had to change from a flat to flat removal, to a removal to storage. >>>>> I must credit CRS for their flexibility and communication in the week leading up to my removal. They were at pains to accomodate my change of plans and quickly emailed revised invoices. >>>>> Throughout my time using the company I found them very accessible via email and telephone. The woman who handles telephone inquiries is polite and helpful. >>>>>  The van and two guys arrived an hour late on removal day. I was called by the van driver ahead of ETA and advised of the delay. I'm inclined to believe their reason for the delay, as the removal was scheduled for 9 am. >>>>> The guys were well presented, curteous and thorough. I had packed well, so the job was relatively easy for them. I would commend them for the care they took in taking my furniture out of the house and for the way they loaded the van. When I offered to help load the van, they wouldn't let me lift a finger. I guess these are two things a customer is entitled to expect, but it's worth noting nonetheless. >>>>>>>>>>> STORAGE: CRS' website insinuates it has its own facilities. In actual fact, they use the Big Yellow facility in Dagenham/Barking (http://www.bigyellow.co.uk/store/Dagenham-self-storage) -presumably because it's near their office. >>>>> CRS asserted they told me they used Big Yellow storage in a phone call while we worked out last minute plans. I don't believe they did, but can't say so with certainty. >>>>> I was charged £25 a week for storage and a flat fee of £15 for a padlock for my storage locker at Big Yellow. I knew about the £25 a week fee (from their quotation) but the £15 was a surprise when I received the invoice. >>>>> I asked that instead of paying the full price for the padlock they charge me £5 and keep the padlock for themselves. They kindly agreed (though this deal was mutually terminated when I ended up collecting my stuff myself - then I paid the full £15). >>>>> Inclidentally, on the day I collected my stuff I saw the padlock for sale at the Big Yellow reception. I asked how much it was and they said £13. I will leave you to decide whether the £2 CRS charged me extra was fair or not. >>>>> I don't know how much Big Yellow charge per week for their storage, but no doubt it'll be less than what I paid CRS for it. >>>>> I would note however, that because CRS has a relationship with Big Yellow, at no point did I have to complete any paperwork for the storage. This was the case when they put my stuff into storage, and when I arranged with CRS to pick up the stuff myself. .

We used this company for our move from a 3 bed 4th floor flat with no lift in Ealing to a 3 bed house just down the road. Before the move we had 5 different estimators that came and surveyed our house. We than received all the quotes on my e-mail. City removals were somewhere in the mid-price range. We had cheaper but also more expensive prices. Choosing someone was really hard as all the companies seemed to be professional movers with good reviews. After much talking with my wife we decided to use this company as Nicola we think was the most professional and polite from everyone. After we have finally settled down I can say that the service we received was nothing short of perfect. The staff were incredibly polite and hardworking, but also top professionals as they dismantled and then reassembled everything with ease. Their care was also extraordinary throughout the whole move. Also to anyone that is even thinking of packing their belongings themselves….do not do it.I think the best money we have spent was on their packing service.2 men came the day before the move and In about 6 hours they packed everything in boxes. We think this was extraordinary given the amount of staff we had. Also after unpacking my wife has about 20 bin bags full of tissue and bubble wrap, so they did not cut any corners when they packed our stuff. On the move day we had a 4 men crew, I remember all the names(Nick 1 and Nick 2 Adrian and Silvio). They were all extremely hard working, motivated and very careful with everything they touched. The loading took a bit more than expected (around 6 hours) but this only because of the sometimes exaggerated care they take with everything. No complaints here whatsoever.Once at our new house they placed everything in the relevant rooms, rebuild all the furniture and placed all the boxes where we wanted. We were extremely happy with the service we received and we think that although a bit more expensive than other quotes we have received it was money very well spent.

I have moved 6 times in my life and I have the worse memories; this has been the smoothest moving of my life. The team was on time, polite, careful, considerate. I have no broken items at all.  I paid extra £220 because I could not get the van closer than a 100 metres to the flat, but I was advised before booking. I found the packing cost really reasonable (£350), considering the quality of the packaging (every fragile item was wrapped twice), and they had special packaging for the TV and electronics.    Worth every penny.  I highly recommend it to anyone.

I choose to move my big two bed flat with a lot of furniture 25 miles with City Removals. The chaps arrived early were extremely polite and pleasant and didn't stop until both Vans were loaded ready to go. I asked them to pick up an extra item on route to my new place a fridge freezer which they happily did for a very reasonable small additional fee.  At the other end they put everything where we asked them to and even moved a big bookcase from room to room as we decided we didn't like where we had originally asked for it to go. They dismantled and reassembled the bed with ease, The actual move was the least stressful part of moving. If I ever moved again or if friends need to These guys are at the top of the list. They were also very helpful and flexible about booking in moving date as I was in  chain .   Thanks again guys, sorry its taken me so long to write you a good review.

Service cost: £580

I have used City Removals for our recent move from a 4 bedroom house in  Wembley to another 4 bedroom house near Loughton.
This company was recommended to us by someone who has used them before.
The service provided throughout the move was excellent and extremely professional. The 5 men crew that did our removal were very polite courteous and knew exactly what they were doing. I was amazed by the ease with which they dismantled and reassembled all our furniture including a 4 door wardrobe and a large king size bed. Also they covered our mattresses, TV and couches in protective covers. Impressive stuff. They were cheerful and hardworking throughout the whole day, and it was quite a long one as we finished around 10:00PM
A day before a 3 men crew came and packed our entire house. They started at 08:00 AM and finished around 17:00.I cannot believe that they packed all our house in ONE day, given the amount of stuff we had. Should we have done this I think it would have taken ONE MONTH….LOL. I would advise anyone that is even thinking of packing on their own not to do it…..
Also the office took care of all our parking arrangements, they were very quick in answering our queries and extremely polite and accommodating. The survey of our property was arranged very quickly from the moment we made contact with them. Nicola was very professional in her survey and inspired trust from day one.
The price although not the cheapest was not prohibitive either and in the end I think it was money very well spent.

In the end, I would wholeheartedly recommend this company to anyone.

These guys are fantastic. They should be called City Fantastic Removals.
I called them after ,like many I guess I have read all this very good reviews about them on this website.
We had a great experience using this company. We had a large 4 bedroom house which was completely packed and moved in 2 days by this company.
The packers were amazing as even though with 3 kids running throughout the house the whole day, they still managed to finish the packing in reasonable time. They were extremely polite and easy going. All the boxes were labelled, packed professionally and with great care.
On the move day we had a 5 men crew. Again the 3 lads that did the packing a day before and another 2 new ones. All of them formed a great team as everyone clearly knew what they were doing and worked hard until we were safely moved in our new house.
Also it was nice to see that they spoke very nicely about their company, this clearly meaning that they get treated well. A nice thing to see and something that contributes for sure to them doing such a good job with so much dedication.
Nothing was damaged, nothing was missing, and they have treated us and our belongings extremely well and professional throughout the whole time they have been with us.
I would not hesitate to recommend this company as their work ethic, their staff and their approach to business and to clients is top notch.

I hired these guys because of the reviews in this site. They gave me a quote for removal into storage then delivery to the new address six weeks later. I thought the price was fair.
They arrived early and, realising that I was stressed out because I didn't think it woudl all fit in the van, they told me not to worry and leave it to them and that it would be fine. I had completely underestimated the number of boxes (I quoted 12 plus some furniture but at the end of the packing, which I did myself, I ended up with 60 boxes!). They reassured me I should not worry as they would sort all out and they did, also at the same price, only the storage was understanbly more expensive as I needed a bigger container.
They worked very hard without stopping and were professional, friendly and smiling all along. They even petted the cats.
The delivery was just as efficient, they arrived early, put everything in place and congratulated us on our new home. Very sweet.
The communication with the office was good too and they repleid to emails timely and responded to all my questions.
It becomes self-fulfilling, the more good reviews they receive the more clients they get. You can only get good reviews by providing good service. So well done to them. I highly recommend and woudl use the again. .

Service cost: £1056

Exactly what I would want from any service organisation: punctuality, good communication, outstanding output and honesty. A little on the pricey side but the service is definitely worth it.
The quote was exact. Nicola who came for the quote was very professional. She gave us the confidence that everything would be alright. Considering the fact that both my wife and I are control freaks, this was a big relief and a good start to a potentially move that also includes a toddler!
For me the most impressive part was when they found my wife's lost jewellery somewhere in the flat and cash in our library that we had forgotten about. They immediately brought these to us. If I move again I will use them again.
The team members were very polite and professional. We moved a three bedroom flat within the same neighbourhood. The guys very efficient. Our stuff was packed in just a few hours by two super human packers. All the dismantling was done very smoothly. The transportation, unloading and assemlby of the furniture were equally succesful. Not a single glass is broken!

Great Removal Company. We were very happy with them. They packed everything according to our instructions and with great care as at the end nothing was scratched or damaged. The crew that helped us, I think they were polish, but I can’t fault them. Great guys , very hard working and with a can do attitude. Don’t be worried if you chose to use them as they have done an outstanding job for us and our move was quite a tricky one….ahh…almost forgot.. Alex the office guy was also great to deal with.

We have used the services of this company to move the contents of a 1 bedroom flat from Central London to Aberdeen.
They packed and loaded our flat on one day and delivered the next.
On the second day, they arrived around 13:00 in Aberdeen, and had to wait another 2 hours until we got the keys. The guys were incredibly polite, hardworking and professional. Nothing was too much trouble and they managed to complete all our move without any damages, stolen items….etc.
Communication with the office was also 1stclass, with really helpful, well mannered, well spoken staff.

Service cost: £1630

We recently moved home and used this company. All the people involved in our move have been fantastic and with this occasion I would like to say I big thank you.
The moving crew was very courteous and polite , and treated all our stuff with the utmost care and professionalism.
The office guys even organized the parking at both properties and have been very helpful in general. We cannot fault the company at all. Very reliable and professional service.
A first class experience that I would recommend to anyone.

Service cost: £750

We booked these movers based on the great reviews and I can only second that they did a fabulous job! The communication was flawless, prompt and very open. They were very accommodating regarding special requests and were very proactive in asking questions to make sure that all was being done properly and the way we wanted it. The movers were very polite and did an amazing job even with fragile items. We could completely trust them to handle everything well and this was a relieving feeling during a time when things can get stressful. We had more things than initially planned for and they handled this very proactively as well and were very generous with extra stuff they hadn't initially factored in. They even sent an extra person to help complete the move on time and didn't charge for him. They could have visited our flat beforehand to make sure the planning was correct, but we were very satisfied in the end with how everything went. They were super on time and just very skillful. I can't recommend them highly enough and will definitely book them again if we are moving.

Service cost: £1450

Excellent service, friendly and polite staff, the previous owner of the house had left a sofa that the removal men kindly took out of the house for me. Everyone from the support staff to the removal men were friendly, courteous and very professional. I would definitely use them again. They also provided storage for me which made my life easier as they sourced and took my possessions to the storage location without me needing to be there which was a tome saver for me.

Service cost: £650

We had a large 3 bedroom house in Richmond and we have chosen this company to carry out the move to our new property after reading many good reviews.
Everything started with a home visit, which we thought was very thorough and professionaly conducted.
They than emailed the quote quickly which again was well presented and clear with all the costs laid out for us to see.
The packing service was done one day before. We had a 2 men crew who packed everything in around 8 hours. They did a very good job , with all the boxes clearly marked and paked with due care.We never thought we had so much stuff, as they packed more than 100 differrent size boxes.I guess a visit to the dump is a must in the near future.
On the move day a 4 men strong crew made our day as stress free as possible. They were clean, unifomed ,poilte and clearly knew what they were doing. They worked all day long without complaining and always willing to go the extra mile.
All our antique pieces were wrapped up inside the house with our couches and matresses protected with special covers. Also none of the dissmantelling and reassembeling they had to do posessed a problem to them as everything was taken apart and put back toegether perfectly.
The whole experience was refreshing and reassuring and we would not hesitate to recommend their services.Good job.

Service cost: £1430

Extremely impressed by this lot.We had them for 1 long day in which they packed and moved all our belongings from a 2 bedroom flat.
Dismantelling and reassembeling was not a problem for them,as they were fully equipped and had the know how.Last time we moved our wardrobe was assembled in more than 1 hour ..they ve done it in 20 minutes.Aldo they were over carrefull with all out things, wrapping and covering them with all sorts of covers. All of them spoke english, were uniformed in company clothes and most of all were very very polite and willing to help.
A 5 star service with a top notch attitude from the guys.Recommended.

Service cost: £970

Everyone we dealt with at the company was friendly and helpful. We had to move at short notice, but everything went very smoothly thanks to the professionalism and efficiency of all concerned. We're particularly pleased that we used the packing service. The two guys who came worked really hard and boxed up our place far more quickly and more effectively than we could have done. They were also very careful. It wasn't the cheapest quote we had, but it was one of the cheapest and there were no hidden extras. All in all, terrific value. Moving house is stressful enough without choosing a dodgy removals firm. Hire this outfit and you'll have no worries. We're recommending them to all our friends and would definitely use them again.
