Long-distance move from Burnaby, BC to Saint Catharines, ON

Smooth move from Vancouver to Ontario

We used Centennial for our long distance move--with several pieces of furniture and a large number of boxes. Among the companies we contacted, Centennial offered the lowest quote. They also provided a clear explanation of the process on the phone.

Subsequently, at every stage, I was able to phone in to get clear information/instructions (Thanks, Ted and Jacob!).

The pick-up and delivery went smoothly, with movers arriving at the arranged time. They were polite, professional and well-organized. All our belongings arrived intact.

The billing process was clear and transparent. I received text/email acknowledgments for payments and a final invoice.

I am glad to have chosen Centennial. I strongly recommend their services.

Excellent Service

From the day I requested for an assistance and quotation, Kevin and Kate were very accomodating. Till the day that my things were collected. Everything were nicely pacled and taken cared of. Till the day it was been shipped. The staffs were all kind, professional. All of my things, boxes and luggages were all intact. I will definitely do another business with Centennial Moving. This is one of the best movers I have dealt with.

Long-distance move from Kelowna, BC to Toronto, ON

A cheaper moving option

I have now moved twice with Centennial. Though somewhat inconsistent in a few ways: communication, delivery dates, and costing. I do get the impression that Centennial actually does care. I had issues on both moves, but through reviews the company always does try to make things right in the end. Their contracted movers, can vary but 2/4 times they were extremely friendly and funny. They made the moving process much better, wrapped all my items by hand and took extra care with items that I was concerned with. Through two moves the only broken items were some plates, but I would put that on my packing ability rather than the movers. My biggest complaint, especially when moving to a big city is elevator times. You will not know when your items are arriving, and there is a short window to scramble and hopefully get it booked in time. Luckily I was able to cobble this together all 4 times, but I am not exactly sure what would happen if you were unable to secure a window. The main thing I would say to someone who was considering using Centennial, understand that they are one of the cheaper options, your items may take longer than expected, there can be small surprises, but if something seems off it probably is. Make sure you cover yourself, and be clear with what your expectations are. If you are adamant, and in the right. The company will do their best to make things right. Overall I would recommend Centennial, and would more than likely use their services again, if I were to do another cross country move.

Official company response

Hello Jesse,

Indeed, such incidents are not typical of us. Considering the time that passed since the delivery was completed, we may spend some time investigating this case to determine the root cause of this mistake so we could then take the necessary measures in eliminating such errors in the future.

Also as part of our continuous strive for perfection, we are implementing a number of checks and measures to ensure mistakes like these do not occur again. One of the employees is passing a supervisor training in one of our locations to work together with the driver and ensure the scale accuracy to eliminate any discrepancies in the early stages if any.

Thank you for raising this matter and giving us an opportunity to perform even better.

We are expecting a reply to our last email in our conversation thread to ensure all your concerns were addressed.

If you have any questions or doubts, please do not hesitate to contact us at any time.

Long-distance move from Kelowna, BC to Toronto, ON

Bad Experience Overall

If the whole process was with the team in Kelowna, I would give them 5 stars, especially to the J-Team (Josh & Josh). They were extremely professional, efficient, personable, and took a lot of care with my belongings.

The reason why I'm giving 2 stars is because of the dispatch team and the movers in Toronto.

First, we were given a time frame window for pickup, and were told a few days before when the movers would arrive. That was fine, and was communicated to me prior. However, I was extremely distraught when I was told by the dispatch team that the movers would leave if we could not reserve a parking space. I had sent photos of the street parking available to the sales team early on and they said that it looked good. My husband then spent the next couple days before pickup calling the City of Kelowna parking and traffic offices to try to get "guaranteed reserved" parking for the moving truck, because the dispatch team was extremely adamant that we needed that "guaranteed" or else the movers would leave. This caused an enormous amount of stress to me and my husband, during an already stressful cross-country move.

Second, it was not made clear to me that the "free storage" option was only available if I told Centennial ahead of time. I was given a wide time frame for delivery (14-21 days after pickup), and then while I was driving across the country myself, I was told that my delivery would be earlier, on the 12th day after pickup. When I said I would not have my keys by then, I was told that in order to store and re-deliver my things, it would cost me $1500. I had assumed, because it was never stated otherwise, that the storage would be free, as it said it an initial email from the sales team. In order to accommodate this and not be charged for the not-free free storage, we had to specially request from the leasing office at our new apartment to let us in early in order to meet the moved-up time frame that Centennial had set.

Finally, the movers in Toronto were not professional. They arrived late without any mats for the floors or pads for the corners in our apartment and were sliding furniture and boxes along the wood flooring. They caused damage to the drywall in our entryway. There were only 2 movers for a 2-bed 2-bath apartment, despite having 5 in Kelowna, which was not expected. Additionally, they placed a number of boxes and furniture items upside-down despite the boxes being clearly labelled which side was up. My belongings arrived dirty. I have not yet checked my items for damage (and have yet to check if they all arrived, because the team in Toronto did not cross-reference the delivered items with the inventory list). I was not impressed. At the end, the movers also explicitly asked for a tip. It was a stressful day.

Because of these reasons, I will not work with Centennial again. The Kelowna team and Roman, the driver, were absolutely wonderful. The rest of the experience was terrible and caused a tremendous amount of stress.

Official company response

Thank you Chris and Camille for writing this feedback. We take pride in giving outstanding service and we’re saddened to see we missed the mark. Your detailed review will make us better. Thanks for sharing your experience with us.

I'm surprised to see your negative experience here as the delivery foreman advised "client even was always apologizing for having us wait and went out to buy us coffee and in the end was very happy and thankfull"

We don't charge by estimated weight or based on weight assumptions. We follow the standard scale procedure before and after loading. As we use MTO weigh stations (which are Governmental facilities) we do not have another weigh ticket to provide you with. We use the services of the scaling facility and take the freight information they provide and put it on the paper with our name on it. The invoice indeed includes the estimated weight and is not used for billing purposes as you noticed. I've checked the correspondence you had with our employees and the weight was never questioned before the delivery. The balance was paid and the contract was signed after delivery was completed. I'm wondering why this issue wasn't addressed to us prior to delivery to clear any doubts or frustration. We could have done the rescale in front of you as there are plenty of weight stations in Toronto area.

I'm afraid we can't guarantee certain delivery dates until 2-3 days before the truck arrives. We inform customers it takes up to 14 business days in transit and we give 24-48 hours notice. This information is disclosed in confirmation emails, terms & conditions, as well as on the website FAQ page. We arrived in time, with no delays.

As per dispatch "Floor runners are not used if no one asks for those. Movers use them by default if it's raining or snowing outside. The movers arrived 9:15 am at the place, despite the 9am to 12pm confirmation and was advised to better book the elevators from 10am to 2pm because 3h may not be enough for finishing the unload and that's what actually happened. At 12pm his reservation ended and movers had to wait until some other people were using the elevators so they can continue unloading his goods. "

If we had a request from you to deliver not earlier than a certain date, in this case we would use a later truck or propose to store your belongings and deliver when you are ready but that would incur additional fees.

We always ask customers to acknowledge themselves with the addendums attached to the estimate and FAQ on our website prior to making the reservation.

Thank you for submitting your claim for damages, the refund was issued. Should there be any unresolved questions or concerns, please reply to our last email thread. Thank you!

Long-distance move from Toronto, ON to Regina, SK

As agreed

A ten out of ten for efficiency ánd communication at the best price we could find! Pick up and deliver as agreed! The right size truck arrived at our house in Regina, furniture and other belongings loaded and ten days later the same truck and same driver arrived at our door in Toronto. Also very nice and helpful driver. We'd use Centennial again in a shot!

Long-distance move from Toronto, ON to Edmonton, AB

Excellent!

I moved from Toronto to Edmonton and Centennial was excellent.

Getting an estimate was straightforward. The website was easy to use and made it easy to map out what things would cost. The movers and everyone I interacted with on the phone were pleasant and the move itself was executed fairly quickly. The cost of the move wound up being less than the estimate which was quite nice.

All in all, would recommend for a cross-country move.

Excellent service for moving small load from ON to BC

We were extremely satisfied with the service provided by Centennial Movers. Easy to contact; excellent web page; fast response to questions; cheerful, courteous, and professional team to load and unload. As they do consolidated loads with only 1000 lbs minimum, we were able to ship a relatively small load at a very reasonable cost; cost on actual weight after loading truck; very honest; move completed in two weeks.

Decent service for a good price

Centennial movers were recommended to me. I got a quote using their cost estimator and I ended paying something very close to that, no surprises.

I had looked on the market and gotten a few quotes but centennial was the best value for money.

They packed and delivered all my items with care, nothing missing or broken.

Only complaint I have is the time range for delivery is way too big, it makes planning quite difficult. I was told delivery would take anywhere from 2 weeks to 5 weeks. Ended up taking 5 weeks and 2 days, we had to be creative to avoid spending too much money in hotels.

All in all would recommend.

Local move from Toronto, ON to Ottawa, ON

Great and Understanding Company

I was referred by a friend who referred many more to Contennial Moving company. At the time of great distress, they helped me organize a moving date and they were very clear about the policies and delivery windows from Toronto to Ottawa. [NAME EDIT] was very helpful by following up and explaining how the dates get full soon. They were also very clear about the pricing. The company has a great website where you can add your furniture and get an estimate of their weight.

Long-distance move from British Columbia to Ontario

Excellent Service

Centennial Moving exceeded all of our expectations.

The packers were efficient and careful with our belongings in BC. Our items arrived in Ontario earlier than anticipated and the moving crew across the country was incredibly helpful as well.

None of our items were missing or damaged in the slightest. Everything arrived in the same condition, which we are still impressed by. Considering the length of the move we were prepared to count our losses with some fragile items. We ended up paying a bit more than initially quoted, but that’s due to us having no idea how much stuff we actually crammed into a one bedroom apartment. The price was more than fair and lower than quoted through other moving companies.

As much as I hope I never have to move across the country again, I would definitely work with Centennial again and highly recommend them! Excellent service and communication from start to finish.
