Tremendously Unhelpful, Terribly Dishonest and Terminally Delayed.
NEVER AGAIN! Communication was beyond terrible. Good luck getting anyone on the phone, they are terrible at returning calls and tremendously unhelpful on the whole. Never got the promised 24 hour call before pick-up or on the multiple deliveries (they failed to deliver multiple times). Supposedly a 10-2 pick-up, I called a 4pm when there was still no sign of the movers, and was told they were running an hour late.. they arrived after 5pm. Dishonest! Sketchy packing list with things like "mildew" marked on things that have never been exposed to moisture and don't have mildew damage now. Also, they attempted to charge me for storage when they failed to deliver on schedule. Expected delivery was Sept 27, delivery date rolled a couple times with no notice (I had to call in to find out they weren't coming). Actual delivery was October 14 and they failed to deliver 5 boxes. Multiple failures to redeliver the missing boxes. Called me one day at 7pm to tell me they'd deliver "sometime after midnight" the same day (I was out of town so I declined). Later they "forgot" to load my boxes on the truck on 3 occasions before I got them in mid December (again I had to call in each time to find this out). No compensation was offered.
Hired them to move from PEI to Alberta from July 26 -28. Got an online quote for our belongings of 5000lbs. We told them exactly what it was that we had. No couches or appliances. They arrived very late on Aug 1 and our stuff was on the lawn for them and deck. Now they have our stuff and they claim it's $7500lbs and wont deliver until they get our money. That's extortion! I told them that I'm willing to pay for the truck weight here before and after it's unloaded and they said no. I told them to mail the weight information and they have'nt. This company is not to be trusted. They will take your belongings and be your best friends until they have them. Then they try to squeeze more money from you. I know how much stuff I have and that it does not way that much. They won't let me see my stuff on a scale to prove to me. They are'nt willing to work with you. DO NOT TRUST THEM! FOR YOUR OWN SAFETY OF YOUR BELONGINS THAT YOU LOVE. DO NOT TRUST THEM FOR WHATEVER REASON THEY GIVE YOU. For your own concerns please trust me in this. I don't want what happened to us happen to anyone else.
In most of the cases movers always fail to deliver satisfactory. But I was lucky because I had to pay a very reasonable price and in return I got the best possible service. I am obviously talking about Greenland Van Lines. Recently I used them for an office move. Their sales rep Sarah ensured me a timely, safe, stress free and smooth move. Movers of Greenland Van lines kept their word. They performed like real pros and it seemed that they were doing everything effortlessly. I am really grateful to them for arranging such a great move within my limited budget. Thank you Greenland.
With this letter I wish to bring to light a contentious charge from merchant Greenland Vanlines. In brief, Greenland Vanlines are charging me with $236,67 in storage fee due a to a delivery that arrived one week late. Their rationale is that I should have given my delivery address on or before Friday October 3rd 2014 and that my failure to do so lead me to receiving my goods late. My delivery address was given one business day later than this 'deadline' and was given on Monday October 6th 2014. The reason why I am requesting a refund of this charge is that I was never notified of this October 3rd 'deadline'. The contract doesn't make any mention of this, neither does any of my email exchanges with them. So now I am being penalized because the merchant omitted to inform me of my responsibilities before hand. Here are more details about this case : I moved from Toronto to Vancouver and I used Greenland Vanlines moving services. My pick up date was Monday September 29th and my delivery date was scheduled for Saturday November 1st. Greenland Vanlines arrived one (1) full week late and delivered my belongings on Saturday November 8th. My agreement with them included 5 weeks of free storage starting from the date of delivery. So from a September 29th delivery date – 5 weeks of free storage ends on Monday November 3rd. Now Greenland Vanlines is charging me $236.67, basically one full month of extra storage, because of their late delivery and because I exceeded my 5 weeks of free storage. On the day before my delivery (Nov. 7) I spoke with call center agent Erin. She agreed that this charge didn't make sense and, in an email exchange with her she said and I quote : ''I have just spoken to accounting, as they said it didn’t make any sense that the storage would be charged when your goods went out before they free storage period was up''. In this same email, she also added : '' I gave it to her (head accountant) myself. So, with any luck, before the end of the day, she will sign off on the refund, and once that is done, I will contact my Vancouver office to let them know that the signature tomorrow won’t be necessary.'' She never made the call to the Vancouver office, when the movers arrived the next day they wouldn't accept this email as proof that I didn't need to sign the credit card slip. Also they couldn't reach anyone at the office in Scarborough to confirm, because the office is opened Monday to Friday and the delivery took place on a Saturday. So I had to sign the credit card slip in order to get my stuff. If I refused to sign the slip, they wouldn't deliver my belongings and I would get charged later for a re-delivery. So I reluctantly sign the slip, knowing that I had this email exchange would stand as proof and that I would be able to get my refund first thing Monday.I even left a note on the delivery contact saying : ''Storage fee will be canceled. Spoke with Erin in Toronto Nov. 7''. Comes Monday morning, Erin can't honour the reimbursement as she said on Friday and the story changed. I had two weeks of back and forth over the phone with their office. I have spoken with both Erin and the accountant Tracy. The refused to refund me and the explanation they provided is that my delivery arrived late because I failed to give the delivery address before a certain date (Friday October 3rd 2014). I gave my delivery address one business later on Monday October 6th 2014. Now I was never given instructions about such a deadline. This October 3rd 'deadline' was never mentioned in : the contract I signed, the email confirmation or in the email with the invoice and instructions on how to make the payment. Nowhere does it say that my failure to provide the delivery address before a certain specific date might lead to a late delivery and extra fees. This is why I am contesting this fee, had I been informed before hand that my delivery address had to be given before a certain date I would have complied and given my delivery address in time. But never was I informed of this 'policy' and now I am being penalized and charged because of their failure to properly inform me (their customer) of my responsibilities. Plus, the email exchange with Erin mislead me to believe that it would not be a problem to get a refund wether I signed the credit card slip or not. Greenlan Vanlines engages in unfair business practices and I have been convinced to sign a credit card slip on deceptive information provided by their employee. My last conversation with them today (Monday November 24 2014), ended with them saying that they would not reimburse me although they agree that it is their failure to inform me of their policies that lead to this late delivery and extra charge. I am very frustrated with they services, they have been very uncooperative and never returned called when they said they would. I now believe they are crooks. .
I moved to Calgary almost a year ago, and matters with this moving company are still left unresolved. They picked up my stuff at the end of August, and we agreed to have it delivered October 1st. I found out two days before delivery day, that my things were actually still sitting in a storage room in Toronto. It took over a month for them to get our stuff to Calgary. This included many frustrating phone calls (heads up, you rarely get to talk to the same person twice). And when you do get to talk to someone, they say whatever it takes to get you off the phone by making empty promises. My things finally arrived in November and it was disappointing to see things like my dresser that I had packed, wrapped and taped up in one piece, was broken apart and things missing from the drawers, among other damages to my belongings. So I followed the company policy, and filled out the damage claim report. It took weeks to get a response from them, and when I did hear back from them, it was an amount lesser than the cost of replacing any ONE of the broken items. At this point, I just want my experience with this company to be over, I signed and faxed the document back. A couple of weeks later I called to verify they had received the fax, when an associate assured me that they had, a cheque must be in the mail and I should get it in a couple of weeks. I continued to wait, but got nothing in the mail. When I emailed, I got no reply. When I called to speak to someone from the claims department, they told me that they no longer take phone calls, that there was no way of actually speaking to a real person, and to contact that department, you must go through email (which I told her I had tried with no response, she didn't care). Oh- And she hung up on me. I was furious and just vowed to leave bad reviews and tell everyone I knew about this terrible customer service, until I found an email from them a couple month later replying back to one of my emails, only offering less compensation than the first time. Which if the rates are based on weights, and the damaged weight didn't change, why would their offer change? I emailed back, and .. surprise.. haven't heard anything back. But everyone needs to avoid this company. It is not worth the time and headaches spent dealing with these people. The people are dishonest and as a company take no responsibility for the damages that they cause. .
The whole truth and nothing but the truth. This statement is something I pride myself in living. Most of the time it is a good thing and a not so good thing by those who do not respect the truth and wish to operate and hide behind deception. In all my years in policing/security I have never dealt with a company that is so unprofessional as Greenland Van Lines also known as Royal Van Lines, North American Movers and Capital Moving Services (something I learned on line in a post by someone in Victoria who experienced Royal Van Lines). The best way to articulate how unprofessional they are I will tell a story, a true story, one that can be verified by witnesses and documentation that I have retained. So buckle-up here I go.It all started months ago when I was planning our move from Toronto to Kingston, Ontario and La Minerve, Quebec. In deciding where my wife and I would like to live full time, we decided to live with my wife's mother in Kingston but vacation a good portion of our time at our chalet in Quebec. When you are retired, you have these kind of options. As such, the move from Toronto would be in two parts. Deliver our king bedroom set to Kingston so that we can complete the furnishing of my mother-in-law's walkout basement to provide us with privacy and comfort. The second part of the move would be to deliver all other belongings that we need to the chalet as we have a large storage outbuilding there, saving us storage costs. It should be noted, we sold or gave away the majority of the furniture in Toronto as my mother-in-law's town home is furnished (except for our bed set) and so is our chalet, so the move would be rather simple and uncomplicated. Boy was I mistaken.I contacted Brian from Greenland Van Lines and he was so polite and obliging. When I described the two part move he indicated that this would not be no problem because Kingston is on the way to Quebec and they would stop there first and continue onto Quebec. I put a $250.00 deposit down and confirmed with Brian that the pick-up at the Toronto house would be on Thursday, April 25th at around 11am and delivery to Kingston then our chalet on Saturday, April 27th. Great all set now start packing, selling and giving stuff to charity. I stressed with Brian about keeping to this schedule as I have to travel back to the chalet via public transportation. Brian proclaimed that this would not be a problem. My wife and I began our vacation Easter weekend and she would stay at the chalet and I would return three days before the move date to the Toronto house to finish the packing and monitor the move-out myself. The weekend before the move came and on that Sunday, my wife dropped me off at the town's bus stop. The start of the return to Toronto journey has begun, bus to Montreal, 747 bus to PET airport, Porter to Toronto ([EDIT] expensive when you buy a ticket on the day of travel) and TTC to the Toronto house. When I arrived, I planned out the next three days. Monday morning I started. I labelled all the boxes and protection wrapped the bed mattress and box springs. I labelled the boxes so that my wife and I would know what was in them. This makes it very easy when unpacking. I boxed some of our alcohol (over $300.00 worth) and labelled it "Liquor". Unfortunately an invitation to loose this box on purpose that I will explain later. I also made my return trip travel plans. I would take a bus or train (much cheaper than Porter) to Montreal on Thursday. Stay at a clean but reasonably priced hotel near the bus depot and catch the morning bus to the town where my wife would pick me up, some 20 minutes from the chalet. I would then be at the chalet in time for the movers arrival on Saturday. After packing close to sixty boxes and stacking them to make the move easier for the movers, Thursday morning was here. The charity furniture folks arrived on time at 830am. They took most of the furniture we were giving away. At about 1130am the Greenland Van Lines moving truck arrived. There were two men and they number labelled the boxes and started packing the truck. The lead mover indicated it should only take them a couple of hours because of the way I organised what was to be moved. Great, I thought because I can be out of the house by 2pm, catch a bus or train and make Montreal by 8-9pm, time enough to have a quick meal, a drink and relax before getting a good night sleep, ready for the bus trip to the chalet in the morning. As I was monitoring the move, the scheduler, Steve from Greenland Van Lines called me on my cell and advised me that they cannot deliver on Saturday but would be there on Friday morning. I indicated that this was not what was agreed to by/with Brian and he was adamant that it must be Friday (tomorrow) morning. He also was not aware that there was to be a stop in Kingston. He said that will have to wait till later as he is so busy in Montreal.I was not pleased. The morning bus from Montreal Friday morning arrives around 1030am and if I take a cab I would be at the chalet before 11am. If they arrive at the same time on Friday as they did on the Thursday, 1130am this just might work. Depends on the bus from Montreal being on time and being able to get a local taxi. Well, nothing I can do about it I thought so I agreed with Steve who I must add was very demanding and in need of customer service training.A few minutes later I received a second call from Steve and he said that they would be delivering it at 5am Friday morning. "WHAT TIME", I proclaimed. He demanded that it had to be at 5am because they are so busy in Montreal. What was I to do? Say no? Maybe, but I was getting a bad feeling now about Greenland Van Lines and did not want to suggest they store our belongings. Best just get this over with. So, here I am Thursday afternoon having to get to the chalet by 5am Friday morning. The only option was for me to take a taxi to the Island Airport, purchase a not so inexpensive same day Porter flight to either Montreal or Ottawa and have my wife meet me and we then drive back to the chalet. The total change in my travel plans cost us close to $400.00 solely because Greenland Van Lines failed to meet their delivery agreement with me and demanding to deliver our belongings at the ridiculous hour of 5am. Would I be unfair in saying I did not appreciate what Steve was doing to us?My wife met me at the easier to get to by car Ottawa airport at 7pm. All earlier Porter flights to Ottawa were booked. After a 3 hour car trip from the Ottawa Airport to the chalet we arrived. After such a day who can go to bed right away? I was in bed before midnight and the alarm went off at 430am. 5am came a went, so now they are going to be late. They did arrive at 530am but refused to back the mother of a tractor trailer down our driveway. So they would now have to move our primarily boxed belongings some fifty yards down our driveway and into the basement of the chalet. They did not have any dollies at all. One of the guys said they would be mocked and laughed at in Montreal if seen with dollies. I guess Greenland Van Lines cares little about the workplace safety of their employees/contractors who obviously will be putting a lot of unnecessary strain on their backs, hand bombing and carrying heavy boxes without access to the proper equipment. Greenland Van Lines may be in violation of workplace safety by allowing such practises to exist. It should be noted that the men who moved me out in Toronto had dollies. The workers were also just wearing regular type running shoes and not safety shoes which they should have been wearing. After all the belongings were unloaded they left. After checking all the boxes I quickly discovered the one marked "Liquor" was missing. I also found two full picture frames broken and an original print so badly scratched it could not be repaired. They promised that the Kingston delivery would be on the Saturday, April 27th. So we called my wife's mother to have her make arrangements for her handyman to be available for that Saturday to set up the bed in the basement. Saturday came and went without the Kingston delivery. My wife called Steve and he said that they could not get to Kingston today and it will be tomorrow, Sunday, April 28th. My mother-in-law lost $100.00 in keeping the handyman waiting on Saturday for a delivery that Steve/Greenland Van Lines did not have the courtesy to call us to let us know about the delivery date change. On Sunday, they arrived at 7am to a surprised mother-in-law who was not expecting them at that hour. The bed mattress cover was torn and the mattress itself was badly soiled all down one side. The chest of drawers back panel was caved in and the night table corner was badly damaged. Now understand this, and if my math is right, they had a total of six pieces to deliver to Kingston at a damaged rate of 50%.My total claim I made to Greenland Van Lines within the required 10 days of delivery was for the stolen (missing) and damaged belongings and not for the extra costs I and my mother-in-law incurred due to their very bad scheduling and delivery services. My claim was for $743.58.Some days later I had Greenland Van Lines response and they offered $40.00 in compensation. Not amused by this unacceptable offer, I counter offered that I would wave the cost of damaged belongings and would like compensation for the stolen (missing) liquor at $333.58 (taxes included). If they agreed to do this then I would not consider implementing other options such as filing a complaint with the BBB and Consumer Protection Agency in Ontario, reporting the unsafe work practises that I and my wife observed and other social media venues.Needless-to-say they refused to compensate me for my loss. As a result I am implementing my other options and telling the whole truth, nothing but the truth.I want to make this last point very clear, I am not suggesting that anyone who reads this should not use Greenland Van Lines or any of the other "aka" companies but that you now can make an informed decision based on our experience.
I agree completely with Jessica! As on the first e-mails,it seemed to be "serious"but I was totally wrong! After taking the deposit, they did not give a [EDIT] about what was going on?I had to call around 30 times, suddenly.everytime I said my name.the 'managaer"Erin was always busy or never there to answer anything! I sent everything from Brussels 28 boxes including 12 big luggages, and all was weighted in front of me in Belgium,so I had 570kg,which is not even 1332pounds,when I finally got it,one box was missing,i even had 6-8 luggages less, and they counted 2240pounds!!??Seems that they got heavier after all??,i went to Calgary on the 11th of July, and I just got a phone call from the driver in the evening late, when I was already back to Quebec!specially for this, and they let me waiting the whole time for it,So,one price was given before the delivery, around 740CAD,in the end I had to pay 1432 100 CAD I had pay already through my credit card!and after all the complaints I made on the phone, which all of the workers that talked to me,when they did not put on hold for at least 30 minutes each time, they were laughing, making fun of me,as a customer,a new one,I will NEVER EVER RECOMEND THEM TO ANYONE! PUT YOUR HANDS OFF FROM THEM!THEY DO NOT RESPECT ANYBODY! THEY DO NOT GIVE A [EDIT] ABOUT ANYONE,THEY JUST TAKE YOR MONEY AWAY,nothing,Erin,Matt, and all the rest were completely unprofessional, and a shame to be a Canadian enterprise! The manager spoke was Erin, and other guy named Matt, and other 2-3 girls that never said their names,of course. ALL IN THEIR WEBSITE IS A LIE! NEVER EVER TRUST THEM! they promised a discount from 50-100 CAD,i never saw it?? I repeat the words from Jessica on here:HIGHLY NOT RECOMMENEDED!! A disgusting company. Poorly runned. Manager "Sean" speak like an uneducated guy with no respect towards his customers. Sean withdrew money from my account without my consent, and is now refusing to refund it. They have made multiple mistakes and took out many payments, they are super unorganized and shady. They are also not opened for the amount of years they advertise and the movers that they have will also come tell you the truth about this company and how it operates. They are not prompt, and the manager himself (sean) will hang up the phone on you if he is not pleased with what he is hearing. They will not try to resolve anything and most likely SCAM you. He is also the owner who opened this small moving "company" which is about to get shut down right after I take this to small claims court. I really hope that they get screwed like they do with the customers, after then they will never laugh again about anybody. Even the drivers have to apologize for them, nobody should also never work there.
The delivery time I said here 20 days,it was after more than 1 week calling, and writing e-mails to know what was going on?
Worst mover ever!! My move from Montreal to Calgary was took longer than expected(4 more days than expected) I had to take extra days to receive my stuff. They are like wolf disguise as sheep. They are so polite to get my business, but once they got signed contract. Good service is nowhere to be found. They are not honest and their service is horrible. Avoid if you can. It will save you from a lot of trouble, hassle and pain. AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COST.
HIGHLY NOT RECOMMENEDED!!

Consider yourself warned. This company is shady and they have a system down on how they will take advantage of you. Some staff are pleasant about it, others are completely useless. Your items will not show up when you want them to. They will be damaged and if there is any box left around your goods, it will be mangled like it has been put through a compactor. I was given 5 different delivery times, none were ever really confirmed and when they finally did show up, they gave minimal notice which resulted in me not being able to block off an elevator for them. DO NOT rely on their quote and DO NOT agree to pay anything more than a deposit before you are given the official weight scale ticket and list contract list of items. Make sure the items list contains SPECIFIC DETAILS about every single item or else it will go missing. It is not enough to write down Box #20. They ripped me off and I am 100% confident about it. They weighed their "empty truck" 10 days prior to picking up my load then weighed "my items" and I'm sure other peoples to then pass the charges on to me. I provided a weight that was purposesly higher than I knew my items weighed in order for me to have a clear picture of what to expect when I moved those items. In the eyes of this company, I was an additional 1300 lbs over that weight which is completely impossible given I seriously moved a single chair and some boxes of clothes and kitchen items. 3000 lbs was their assessment, unbelievable. I didn't want to fight with them too much before got my items into my house for fear that they would end up throwing them into a ditch somewhere but when they finally arrived, they are in horrible condition. After disputing the charges I was told that they would not deliver my items to my home until I signed a credit authorization accepting the amount that they had charged me 30 days earlier, yes for the additional 1300lbs. THIS IS CALLED EXTORTION. I called the police and have filed a report with them. I also have my lawyer looking into filing a suit against the company for fraud, extortion, and misrepresentation of services. You will never be able to get in touch with the person you need to. They will be there, they just wont talk to you once you have booked your order. I would say that 80% of my items actually made it to my house. I wont say they were stolen but they were "lost". It was the worst service experience I have ever had in my entire life. EVER and for the love of god do not let it happen to you. JUST RUN! .
